Korn Announces New Slate of U.S. Tour Dates This Spring in Support of Upcoming Album 'Requiem'
The nu metal rockers will hit 19 cities with Chevelle and Code Orange
Korn is hitting the road.
The nu metal rockers announced a slew of U.S. tour dates that they'll play in March and April in support of their forthcoming album Requiem , which comes out on Feb. 4.
Jonathan Davis, 50, James "Munky" Shaffer, 51, Brian "Head" Welch, 51, and Ray Luzier, 51 will play 19 cities across the country, starting in Springfield, Missouri on March 4 and ending on April 1 in Wichita, Kansas. They'll be joined by Chevelle and Code Orange.
The new dates come in addition to a series of four shows they'll play on the West Coast with System of a Down in late January and early February. After the U.S. tour wraps, they'll head to Europe for a series of shows stretching from late May to early July.
Korn has faced several COVID-related setbacks over the last year; in October, drummer Luzier missed a handful of shows following a positive COVID test, making him the third band member to contract the virus in three months.
His positive test came after frontman Davis tested positive in August, prompting the band to reschedule six tour dates and cancel two, and guitarist Shaffer did so in September.
In a video shared to Instagram on Aug. 29, Korn guitarist Welch detailed the toll that COVID had taken on Davis.
"Jonathan Davis is still struggling with the COVID after-effects," Welch said. "He's physically weak and having a mental battle and any type of love, light and energy you can throw at him – prayers, all of it. We have shows coming up, so all of you guys check the dates – whatever show you're going to, throw him some love and energy man. He needs you more than ever."
General on-sale tickets will go on sale Friday at 9 a.m. local time here.

Album review: Korn – Requiem
Just when you thought you couldn’t be truly blown away by a nu Korn album, along comes their fantastic 14th…
Requiem is the best Korn album since 2011’s The Path Of Totality, their flirtation with dubstep that heralded the second life of one of metal’s most successful outfits. Admittedly, the records since then have been the definition of a mixed bag, though assessing the Bakersfield legends’ oeuvre is far from straightforward; the lesser efforts feature career-best tracks, just as the stronger ones contain a fair amount of filler.
Album number 14 finds Jonathan Davis in one of the most interesting places of his career, lyrically. Not in the throes of despair that came to a head on 2019’s The Nothing — the band’s bleakest moment to date, written after the deaths of his mother and estranged wife – but a seemingly happier, more settled existence. But Jonathan, a man who’s closely acquainted with darkness, doubts the good times can last. From the first track, Forgotten (‘ I want to be free / You won’t allow it ’), to the last, literally called Worst Is On Its Way, Korn’s singer is continually looking over his shoulder, waiting to be accosted by suffering once again.
Musically, Requiem is heavy but not stodgy, fresh but familiar, and accessible without ever feeling forced. Its wisest creative decision, though, is keeping things lean and mean. At just nine tracks, there are few moments that feel anything less than essential. At its best, it’s superb. Let The Dark Do The Rest is hulking and brisk, building to a chorus that takes flight and pulls you along for the ride, such is its persuasive buoyancy. Single Start The Healing caused a few grumbles upon its release, deemed too poppy by some, but its yearning melodies remain undeniable. Those detractors may want to check out Hopeless And Beaten, the biggest surprise here, which is like Korn’s take on hardcore. If there are weaker bits (fifth track Disconnect is a candidate) then it’s because on an album with so many hooks, some will be blunter than others.
This is likely Korn’s most consistent offering since Untouchables, which turns 20 this year, not just because of its quality but because it feels like a tight collection. That’s thanks to how it's been recorded, to analogue tape, an old school practice that’s given proceedings a welcome warmth, as if we’re listening to Korn going through a great thaw.
Requiem is not only excellent in its own right, but in capturing Jonathan at a transitional point in his life, you’re intrigued as to what comes next for him. Given he’s a man whose art is so informed by his life, that’s a scintillating prospect for Korn, who are breaking new ground 30 years into their career.
Verdict: 4/5
For fans of: Slipknot , Disturbed , Breaking Benjamin
Requiem is released on February 4 via Loma Vista

About Korn: Korn changed the world with the release of their self-titled debut album. It was a record that would pioneer a genre, while the band’s enduring success points to a larger cultural moment. The FADER notes, “There was an unexpected opening in the pop landscape and Korn articulated a generational coming-of-angst for a claustrophobic, self-surveilled consciousness. Korn became the soundtrack for a generation’s arrival as a snarling, thrashing, systemically-restrained freak show.”
Since forming, Korn has sold 40 million albums worldwide, collected two Grammys, toured the world countless times, and set many records in the process that will likely never be surpassed. Korn has continued to push the limits of the rock, alternative and metal genres, while remaining a pillar of influence for legions of fans and generations of artists around the globe.
The level of Korn’s reach transcends accolades and platinum certifications. They are “a genuine movement in a way bands cannot be now,” attests The Ringer. They represent a new archetype and radical innovation, their ability to transcend genre makes barriers seem irrelevant.

Korn Debut First New Song of 2021, ‘Start the Healing,’ Announce New ‘Requiem’ Album
Korn 's year is winding down on a high note as the veteran band has just released "Start the Healing," their first new original song since the issuing their 13th album, The Nothing , in 2019, and it is now confirmed that Requiem will serve as that album's successor.
The track's arrival comes after days of light, cryptic teasing by Korn and its members. A billboard bearing a black/grey background and the Korn logo began to appear around the world earlier this week and this was followed up by static video clips that offered up one clue, "11:11," leaving fans to try to piece together the significance of these numbers in tandem with the infinity loop symbol that appeared in captions.
Listen to the new song and check out the Tim Saccenti-directed video below and if you like what you hear, the song is now available right here .
Korn have also revealed a release date for Requiem , with the album set to arrive on Feb. 4, 2022. You can pre-order / pre-save the album at this location .
This year has been full of ups and downs for Korn, who embarked on a summer co-headlining tour with Staind and were later tabbed as the fill-in for Faith No More on System of a Down 's stadium concerts. Multiple members of the group — Jonathan Davis , Munky and Ray Luzier, contracted COVID-19, which caused some postponements while also necessitated temporary fill-ins for both Munky and Luzier at different times.
Just days before Halloween, news also broke that Davis had been casted as a villain — 'The Pet' — in the forthcoming horror film The Devils' Tree . There is no official release date set for the flick as of yet, but an official video clip has been released and can be viewed here .
Korn, "Start the Healing" Lyrics
Do you really wanna come with me? It's hard to see from the eyes of a stranger Are you ready for the feeling to leave So that you can breathe and not live with the danger? But there is always something fighting its way back in But there is always something pushing me to give in Do you really wanna make believe And try to achieve a little break from the anger? I should've been good I should've been down I couldn't let go What could I do? I can take it all away, the feelings Break apart the pain and start the healing I should've withstood I shouldn't bow down I couldn't get through What could I do? I can take it all away, the feelings Break apart the pain and start the healing Do you really wanna prowl with me? This travesty cuts sharp like a razor Are you ready for your scars to bleed? You will succeed pulling out the invaders But there is always something fighting its way back in But there is always something pushing me to give in Do you really wanna make believe And try to achieve a little break from the anger? I should've been good I should've been down I couldn't let go What could I do? I can take it all away, the feelings Break apart the pain and start the healing I should've withstood I shouldn't bow down I couldn't get through What could I do? I can take it all away, the feelings Break apart the pain and start the healing Everything i'm feeling burst into flames Looking at a soul that's broken and strain Every night the wish is always the same Keep on hoping that I don't go insane The more you fall for it The more it starts to stick The more you fall for it The more it starts to stick The more you fall for it The more it starts to stick The more you fall for it It's never gonna quit I should've been good I should've been down I couldn't let go What could I do? I can take it all away, the feelings Break apart the pain and start the healing I should've withstood I shouldn't bow down I couldn't get through What could I do? I can take it all away, the feelings Break apart the pain and start the healing Break apart the pain and start the healing

Korn Announce New Album Requiem, Unleash First Single “Start the Healing”: Stream
- Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below
The post Korn Announce New Album Requiem, Unleash First Single “Start the Healing”: Stream appeared first on Consequence .
Korn have announced that they will unleash their 14th album, Requiem , on February 4th. In advance of its release, the pioneering nu-metal band has unveiled the first single, “Start the Healing.”
Other than some recent billboards and an online social tease hinting at some sort of news on “11:11,” the band had been relatively quiet about a new album in the months leading up to the announcement. Requiem will be the follow-up to 2019’s well-received album The Nothing .
“Start the Healing” starts off with an industrial-like guitar riff, as singer Jonathan Davis delivers the verses in a soft, melodic tone. He then shifts to a guttural scream in the heavy chorus.
The song is accompanied by a music video directed by Tim Saccenti (Run The Jewels, Depeche Mode). “Our idea for this video was to mutate that aspect of the DNA of Korn, of what makes them so inspiring, their mix of raw power and transportive aesthetics and human emotion,” said Saccenti.
Korn’s album news comes after a tumultuous tour that saw three different members of the band — Davis, James “Munky” Shaffer, and Ray Luzier — contract COVID-19 at separate times during the summer / fall run.
On top of that, bassist Fieldy dropped off the tour before it started to “take some time off to heal” after falling back on “bad habits.” It appears from the band’s new press photos (only featuring four members) and the music video that Fieldy is not part of the new album, as well. Instead, Suicidal Tendencies’ Ra Diaz, who filled in for Fieldy on the tour, can briefly be seen in the video.

After their headlining run came to an end, Korn has begun supporting System of a Down on a brief West Coast tour, but the last couple of shows, a two-night stand at Los Angeles’ Banc of California Stadium were postponed when SOAD singer Serj Tankian tested positive for COVID-19 . Those two dates will now take place February 4th and 5th, timing perfectly with Korn’s album release.
In addition to the two L.A. makeup shows, Korn also have a European tour scheduled to kick off in May. Pick up tickets to the band’s upcoming concerts via Ticketmaster .

15-year-old dazzles on Korn Ferry Tour in record-breaking performance
Miles Russell made the cut at the LECOM Suncoast Classic becoming the youngest ever player to make the cut in a Korn Ferry Tour event.
Getty Images
Most 15 year olds are training for their driver’s tests, lining up summer jobs and getting ready for prom. Not Miles Russell, though. He’s busy competing at the highest levels of golf.
Russell, 15, is playing in the Korn Ferry Tour ‘s LECOM Suncoast Classic this week in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. — and he’s playing quite well, too. He posted rounds of 68 and 66 over the first 36 holes for an eight-under total, good for a made cut with three strokes to spare.
“I’m kind of speechless,” Russell said. “The goal was to make the cut and we made it, so we’ll see where the weekend goes.”
Miles Russell had no idea he made history. 🤯 After making the cut in his first pro event at age 15, he wants to keep it going with a top-25 finish. pic.twitter.com/c8QPEEWOOe — Korn Ferry Tour (@KornFerryTour) April 20, 2024
With the made cut, Russell cemented his spot in the record books. At 15 years, five months and 17 days old, the teenager is now the youngest player to ever make a cut in a Korn Ferry Tour event. He also joins Guan Tian Liang as the only players younger than 16 to make a cut in a PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour event.
“It’s a cool record to break,” Russell said. “I don’t know how much longer — I mean, people are getting so good, so young. It could hold out for a week, you never know, but it’s pretty cool right now.”
This week marked the teenager’s debut in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event as he received a sponsor’s exemption in his home state of Florida. And as soon as he arrived on the scene, he proved he belonged.
Russell birdied four of his first five holes during the opening round on his way to a three-under 68. He returned the following day and bested the score by two strokes — highlighted by a pair of eagles — on his way to the record.
“I didn’t really have any [expectations],” he said. “The goal was to make the cut and kind of see where that could go if I did, see how it goes this weekend.”
Russell is among the most promising young junior golfers in the country. Last year he became the youngest player to ever win AJGA Player of the Year, surpassing the mark set by Tiger Woods, and he’s already inked an NIL deal with Transcend Capital Advisors.
As far as the next generation of stars goes, Russell is a can’t-miss prospect.
“I knew it was going to be a good test to see where I am against some of the best,” Russell said. “It’s definitely something I’ll remember even when times will get hard, I’ll remember it when that happens and go with the flow.”

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations
By Claudia Looi 2 Comments
Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.
Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.
Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.
The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean
To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow. Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.
The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:
1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.
2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

6. Novoslobodskaya Metro Station was built in 1952. It has 32 stained glass murals with brass borders.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.
10. Teatralnaya Metro Station (Theatre Metro Station) is located near the Bolshoi Theatre.
