How to get a France visa from Dubai? Apply for the France visa for Dubai residents

The France visa is for Dubai residents (and all residents of the greater UAE) who are looking to vacation or otherwise travel to France. The procedure for acquiring France visas and types is outlined below.

1. Learn what are the France visa requirements for Dubai residents

  • A France visa is a type of Schengen visa for UAE residents (including those from Dubai), which entitles its holder to visit France (in addition to the Schengen area). The Schengen area has 27 countries, including France; UAE residents should apply for a France visa from Dubai or Abu Dhabi if France is their primary destination in the Schengen area (i.e. if they are only visiting France, or if they will visit other Schengen countries but spend the majority of their time in France).
  • Getting a France visa from Dubai entails meeting the France visa requirements listed throughout steps 2-9.

2. Choose when to apply for your France visa from Dubai

  • The application for a France visa for Dubai residents should be submitted ideally well before the applicant’s trip. This way, the visa-seeker has enough time to prepare his or her application and wait for it to be processed (rather than if they apply too close to their departure date and don’t receive it in time). Keeping this in mind, applications for the France visa for Dubai residents should be submitted between 15 and 60 days before a trip (ideally closer to 60 than 15) but not earlier than six months.

3. Find your application destination where to apply for a Schengen visa from Dubai

  • A Schengen visa for UAE residents is available via the French Embassy in Abu Dhabi. If you are located in Dubai, you may likely apply through the French Consular section there. SchengenVisas.com facilitates submissions for the France visa for Dubai residents; contact us to find out exactly where you should deliver your application.

4. Choose your France Schengen visa type

  • France visas and types include Tourist, Study, Business, and Visiting Family and Friends, and reflect the most popular reasons for traveling to France. Your reason will therefore determine your selection. See the complete list here , and indicate your preferred visa type on your main Schengen visa application form.

5. Choose your Schengen area entry category

  • The three Schengen-area entry categories for the France visa for Dubai residents are single, double and multiple. You will indicate your preferred entry category on your main Schengen visa application form. Select multiple if you want to travel in and out of the Schengen area, select double if you need one exit (meaning you need to exit the zone and return to it one time) and select single if you do not intend to return to the area after exiting (as a single-entry grants no re-entries after the first entry to the zone).

6. Submit your main online application form to see how much does a France visa cost

  • In addition to applying in person at your application destination, your application for the France visa for Dubai residents also contains an online component , which you must access in order to meet your French visa requirements. Fill out and print out the copy of the electronically-generated form and your receipt and submit both as part of your required documents.
  • Pay your France visa fees online, through the visa portal (you should receive a prompt to do this when you have completed the biographical information portion of the application form). If paying online, you will pay by credit or debit. More information about Schengen visa payments for the France visa for Dubai residents is available here .

7. Arrange the documents/materials required for a France visa for Dubai residents

  • Your national passport.
  • Two passport photos.
  • Your Dubai residency card.
  • France visa fees (80 EUR).
  • Evidence that you will return to Dubai when your visa is up (proof of return).
  • Evidence that you have arranged for a place to stay in France (proof of address).
  • Evidence that you can afford all costs associated with your trip to France, including day to day expenses (proof of finances).
  • Evidence that you have already purchased travel medical insurance for your trip to France (Proof of insurance).
  • Depending on which type of visa you applied for, you will need to submit supplemental documents on its behalf. Example: You selected “Visiting Family or Friends” as your visa type. Now you must submit a letter from the family or friend you are visiting in France, which invites you to the country. Please note that this letter, if not already written in French, English, or Spanish, can only be submitted as a supplemental document if a translation of it into (preferably French) is included alongside of it. The same goes for all documents/materials submitted in pursuit of the French visa requirements; they must be translated in order to be accepted. Contact us at Schengenvisas.com for help with this.

8. Arrange visa appointment for how to apply for a France visa from Dubai

  • If you didn’t get a visa appointment during your online application for your France visa for Dubai residents (via the France’s visa portal ), you can contact us to arrange the appointment for you.

9. Be interviewed and meet other requirements at your visa appointment

  • The interview for the France visa from Dubai is just one component of the in-person application process. The interview time does not typically exceed 15 minutes and consists of you being asked basic questions about yourself and your trip. Alongside the interview, you will hand in your complete application for your French visa. In addition, you will be asked to submit your biometrics (photos and fingerprints) which will be entered into the Schengen security system (for identification/security purposes).
  • Dubai residents who were unable to pay their visa fees online will do so at their visa appointment (they will likely need to pay cash, which means they should be prepared to bring 80 EUR to their appointment (or the AED /USD equivalent of that amount). Contact SchengenVisas.com for localized information on the payment preferences of your application destination in Dubai.

10. Processing time for a France Schengen visa: await a decision

  • As discussed in step 2, a France visa for Dubai residents has a standard processing period of 15-60 days. While your France visa for Dubai residents is being processed, your passport will remain with the responsible consular authorities (something you should keep in mind when you apply, as it could in theory be held for 60 days).

11. Rejected applicants: How to apply again for a France visa from Dubai

  • Unfortunately, not every Dubai visa applicant emerges from the process with a visa in hand. Rejected applicants for the France visa for Dubai residents may appeal a rejected France Schengen visa. Contact us at SchengenVisas.com to do this, or for help re-applying.

Your passport, a  completed visa application form, evidence of housing  in France, proof of financial means to support your stay, travel  insurance, and a round-trip ticket are all examples of  acceptable documents. Before submitting  your application, thoroughly study the criteria for  your individual visa type and confirm that all  paperwork are in order. When your visa is  accepted, you must pick it up at the  consulate. When you  go to pick up your visa, bring your receipt and a valid ID with  you. You are  now set to enjoy your trip to France!

Let’s Learn a Bit More About France

Things were not suitable for French tourism when the pandemic hit the world. Obviously, the whole world was under its clutches. Thankfully, everything is slowly returning to normalcy, and people are coming in large flocks to visit the dream country France. France had finally gotten back its title of most visited tourist destination in the world, and it held it for five years before the pandemic started. UAE residents should not miss out on this opportunity, as France tourist visa has become much more affordable. Before we go more into its details, let’s look into why people want to visit France year after year. Maybe the following reasons will answer this question.

The City of Light

According to the latest statistics, almost 30 million people visit France every year. Shocking right? It has been listed among the most visited cities in the world. Its romantic image, the Louvre museum, the Eiffel Tower and stunning architecture attract tourists worldwide. Of late European and US visitors are coming in large numbers to France, followed by Chinese nationals. Many of them, kids especially, come to see the theme park Disneyland, which lies east of the French capital.

Scenic beauty

It is said that only 30% of the country’s revenue is from international tourists. The rest is covered by its natives, who prefer to holiday in their own country. The sandy beaches, snow-covered mountains and large landscapes make people often stay back and explore them. The amazing part is that all these regions are different in their ways and offer a different experience to their tourists every time they visit them. Germans usually come to explore the beaches, the British prefer the countryside, and the Americans are in love with its culture and chateaux. Weather also plays an essential factor in the country’s tourism. The country is hot and humid in summer, but it is not as hot and baking as in Spain and Italy. It has a multiseasonal climate which has ski breaks in winter, city breaks in spring and autumn and sun-soaked beach holidays in summer.

It is also known that not all visitors come here to enjoy its scenic beauty. People come here mainly because of its strategic location. Often tourists are forced to go to this country on their way to other destinations as there is no way out for them other than this to reach there. For example, 15 to 20 million people who visit France every year are on their way to either Italy or Spain. Its neighbours Germany and Belgium also contribute a lot to its tourism.

Stunning countryside

The countryside covers France’s 80% of the landscape. Other than Paris, people mainly come here to visit the countryside like Lore Valley and Provence. Britishers are primarily in love with France’s countryside. They enjoy the calm and peaceful atmosphere that it offers to its visitors.

Food and wine

You cannot separate food and wine from France as they are the most crucial part of its culture. Hence it is ideally named the world’s food capital. They avoid frozen ingredients in their cuisines and usually use homemade products only. Their homemade wines are another major attraction which draws worldwide foodies. It is estimated that around 24 million tourists visit the vineyards of France, like Burgundy and Bordeaux, every year to taste their exclusive wines.

What steps are involved in applying for a France tourist visa from Dubai?

If we start counting the reasons why one wants to visit France, I am sure this article won’t be enough. What a visa to France gives you

France has been described throughout history as one of the world’s finest and most beautiful countries. Its nice climate, many historical and natural sites, exquisite cuisine, and perfect resorts make it a very beckoning destination for spending a holiday in.

Paris alone has some of the most famous sights in the world: the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre with its many incredible items including the undeniably most recognizable painting on Earth, the Mona Lisa, Montmartre, the Latin Quarter, and much more. And when you add Versailles, Nice, and other cities and towns, you start to understand you might need more trips than one to see it all.

Whether you have been to this country before or just want to visit it for the first time, France is sure to leave a great impression and make you count days until your next vacation you can spend there.

However, to safely travel to France, you need to first get a visa. The process of doing so can sometimes take more time than expected and cause some distress. To prevent such an unpleasant experience right before you are set to go on one of the best tours of your life, Smart System Holidays LLC provides services that help to alleviate most of the bureaucratic problems and hold-ups.

Description

Getting a france visa: your fullest guide.

France is one of the founding members of the Schengen Agreement, a treaty that includes at the current day almost all of the EU and allows the residents and visitors of one country to travel to the rest of them with minimal checks and waiting.

The way it works is when you obtain a visa to France, you are allowed to also visit Belgium, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Poland, and a number of other polities within Europe. Moreover, several states that are not members of the EU also allow entrance without a requirement of their national visas if you have a Schengen one, such as Norway, Switzerland, and Iceland.

As you can see, a French visa is, therefore, an incredibly useful document that will help you travel to a lot of destinations. But how should one proceed with getting it?

Worry not, as Smart System Holidays prepared this succinct yet detailed guide. And if any questions remain by the time you finish reading, we will be most glad to answer them for you!

Step 1. Deciding on the basics

Before the real work on obtaining a French visa starts, one should think their trip through. That should include:

  • The date on which you want to enter France;
  • The duration of your desired stay;
  • Whether or not you plan to visit other Schengen countries as well and if so, when and for how long.

Thinking about all these aspects of your travel in advance will help you to prevent any last- minute problems.

The first one is supremely important, as it determines not only when you will go, but also when you should apply for a visa. The processing time comes up to 15 working days, so it is dangerous to apply when you only have a week left until the day you want to go, for example. The best practice here would be to apply as early as you can, namely 6 months in advance, which is the earliest date allowed.

Knowing the duration of your stay will help you choose the right type of visa (more on that later).

If you wish to visit more than one Schengen country with the help of the same visa, you will need to apply through the consulate or mission of the country you will be spending the most time in.

Step 2. Selecting where to apply

Once you’ve decided on the basics of your trip, you need to choose the visa application center you will be working with.

In the UAE, one can apply for a French visa at the Dubai VFS Center or the Abu Dhabi VFS Center depending on which is closer to your location. However, there are no harsh restrictions placed here, and you are allowed to apply at your desired center no matter where your home is.

Step 3. Deciding on the visa type

This step is crucial in the process, because France asks for all visitors to provide a reason for travelling there. There are a plethora of purposes and visa types based on them:

  • Tourist If your intention is just to see the sights France has to offer, spend time at a resort, participate in the cultural life, and otherwise in recreational activities, you must pick this type.
  • Visas for UAE nationals. If you are one, then this is the visa type for you to apply for.
  • Work permits. For those who aim to come into employ in France and stay there working, working visas are necessary.
  • Medical visas. If the reason for going to France is to undergo medical procedures or treatment, this kind of visa will give one an easier and faster time getting
  • Dependent visas. For children under 18 as well as spouses of the European Union citizens, dependent visas are

Failing to truthfully provide the purpose of your visit will result in legal problems and may even get you disqualified from being able to apply for a French visa for several years in the future.

Once the type of the visa is settled, you also should think about the entry category. The thing is, besides its duration, every visa also grants you a certain number of entries into France.

A single-entry visa, as you can tell, only allows you to cross the French border once on the way in. Even if you still have some time left during which your visa remains valid, it will not let you come in more than once if you have exited the Schengen area.

So, if you want to be able to leave France and the Schengen area and then come back using the same visa, you will need a double- or multiple-entry one.

Step 4. Gathering the paperwork

Now is the time to actually collect all the necessary documents that you will hand in with your application. These documents include:

  • Your passport, valid for no less than 6 months since the day your stated trip
  • The UAE residency permit, valid for no less than 3 months since the day your stated trip
  • 2 pictures – passport-sized.
  • A bank statement or similar proof of your finances (such as a letter from your employer confirming your salary).
  • No Objection Certificate from your local
  • Your proof of This can be your hotel reservation, tour provider contract, or other documents like that.
  • Your proof of leave – most often it is your return
  • Your medical insurance covering
  • Birth certificate (must be translated and attested) for persons below 18 years of age. In certain cases, more documents may be required. Smart System Holidays LLC will study your situation and let you know if you need any additional

Step 5. Filling in the application form

With all your documents gathered, you need to complete the form on the France-Visas website. To do that, you must create an account or sign into an existing one.

The form itself needs to be printed out and submitted along with the rest of the documents when you visit the VFS Center of your choosing.

Step 6. Making an appointment

Now you need to schedule an appointment at the center, during which you will hand in your documents. The rules do not permit one to simply walk into a VFS Center as soon as they are ready unless you are eligible for a dependent visa or are applying for a long-stay (90 days to 1 year) visa.

The scheduled date can be removed from the current one by 2 months or even more, if the purpose of your visit is not medical. However, Smart System Holidays provides the service of preferential appointment slot booking, which makes the wait period much shorter.

Step 7. Attending the appointment

On the scheduled day you will visit the visa application center with all the documents you have gathered. There you will hand them in and provide your biometric information to the center. This includes submitting your photos as well as your fingerprints. The latter is done with the help of a digital scanner, so you don’t need to worry about the ink. While at the VFS Center, you will also be required to pay the visa fee.

Step 8. Waiting to get approved

The last thing you need to do is be patient and wait for up to 15 working days until the decision is made. If all of the data you have provided checks out and your documents are valid, your application should be approved.

This is a non-government site and whilst every endeavor is made to ensure the information is correct and up to date, there may be changes which we are not aware of. It is always a good idea to check the latest regulations. You should confirm details with your local French Visa Application Center.

What do I do if my French visa application is denied?

In this case, if they deem you eligible you can make an appeal to the commission responsible via mail. If you get a refusal, it will specify how to proceed with that.

Can I make the approval process faster?

No, unfortunately, there is no way to speed it up, as it is controlled by a computer system.

Is it possible not to go to the visa center in person?

No, you must visit it because it is necessary that your biometric information is taken.
