Love Cruise: The Maiden Voyage

Sixteen sexy singles sail the Caribbean, vying for cash and possible romance in this reality series from the creators of 'The Real World.' Each player picks a different shipmate to spend 48 hours with to test their compatibility. Every three days, a member of each sex is voted off to 'Loser Island' (Aruba, actually). The last couple aboard win $200,000 and a cruise around the world.

Justin gunn, latest news see all, hotel's toni sings unreal.

She's mud-wrestled a dork, cried enough crocodile tears to fill up the Great Lakes and swapped more spit than a kissing-booth attendant during Fleet Week. Yet hot-tempered Toni Ferrari tells TV Guide Online that none of her experiences on Love Cruise or Paradise Hotel could have prepared her for what she heard at the recording sessions for thefishbowl.com's Christmas album, Holiday in the Fishbowl: Performed by the Reality TV Singers. What gave her such a shock? Her own voice! "Madonna's career is safe," she says with a laugh. "When [American Idol runner-up] Nikki McKibbin started to sing, I felt like a dying cat in the recording booth. I sound like ["Goldfinger" belter] Shirley Bassey on a really bad day!" So, if the buxom bruiser isn't itching to make an appearance on TRL, why subject unsuspecting music lovers to her renditions of "Deck the Halls" and "Let's Make Christmas Real This Year" — esp

S01e01 episode 1.

  • September 25, 2001

As the Love Cruise begins, the 16 singles board the ship in a game that will give them 200,000 dollars and perhaps a soulmate. Right from the start the women begin to dish each other and judging themselves by their looks. After a turn of flash dating, the women are asked to pick a man to spend the next 48 hours with. Two of the guys (Adrian and Michael) are left with no girl and one of them (Darin) has 3 to pick. The first turn of the ""hot seat"" reveals some truths and the first couple is voted off the boat (Gina and Bob). Coincidentally, they also paired to stay the first 48 hours with each other. Now they're going to wait for the others in ""loser island"" (Aruba) as the ""loser queen and king"", as the game gets hotter and better...

On their way to Margarita Island, the couples have to switch, since 48 hours have passed. Again, Lisa remains alone which causes her a bittersweet feeling. Laura pairs with Anthony and Tony ends up with Lisa. On the ""hot seat"", both Laura and Tony are chosen to answer questions and Tony has to give Laura a lap dance. Things between the two start to happen, which doesn't exactly make Anthony's day. The 7 couples have to enter a salsa contest in Margarita Island which will give one person of the winning couple a ""switch card"", which gives him/her the ability to switch whoever is voted off the boat. Adrian and Tomiko win. Laura and Tony return to the boat earlier then the rest of the group, which causes an uncomfortable situation between the two couples. Laura and Toni think Lisa has a crush on Anthony. The voting time comes, and Anthony manipulates almost all the males into voting for Laura, because he feels betrayed. On the other side, the women can't decide who to vote for, and they en

It's the fifth day on the ship and things haven't gone very well for Adrian since the last voting. His remarks concerning the women's decision on voting him so he could vote someone else have caused some ""frisson"" among the women, specially Jeanette, who starts to call him a ""male chauvinist pig"". The women have to choose which men they want to pair up with, and at first they all go to Michael, who was left alone in all previous times. Lisa finally gets Anthony; Toni and Greg are together as their attraction grows, and Adrian keeps Tomiko. Toni is once again up for the ""hot seat"", and Tomiko is found in a very unpleasant situation, after Jeanette asks her a question concerning Adrian. Someone spreads around the boat that Jeanette called Adrian an ""irresponsible father"", which causes a great deal of misunderstandings among everybody. Jeanette has no clue that is the reason why Adrian has been treating her so coldly, and Adrian doesn't know the rumor is not true. Nevertheless, all the me

As the new round begins, the couples are once again switched. Tomiko and Adrian finally split up; while Lisa and Anthony decide to stick together. On the hot seat, Anthony writes a question to Tomiko asking why isn't she with him since she's so attracted to him, making Lisa jealous. Melissa is also up and chooses consequence, having to take a topless photo. The competition for the switch card consists on mud fighting. Each man has to put his woman on his shoulders and the women have to fight each other on mud until there's only one couple left. Toni and Adrian win, and she gets the switch card. Back on the boat, the triangle of disharmony is set. Lisa, who's roommates with Anthony, kisses Michael because she didn't want to hurt him. After kissing Anthony, she confesses kissing Michael and tells Anthony about Michael's plans to get him off the boat. Feeling like the betrayed Michael, she goes to him and tells him she told Anthony. Anthony wants to use Lisa to get rid of Michael. Michael

The battle contiues. Led by Michael, the ""Chicago Four"" alliance is formed, with Toni, Michael, Raplh and Melissa, all residents of Chicago. When the pairing time comes, each of them couples with a person outside the alliance, so that the switch card is guarateed to be in their hands. But someone tells Andrea, and Michael has no other option but letting her in. On the hot seat, Melissa and Darin are both confronted to reveal their true feelings about each other. Darin says he feels more than just attraction to Melissa, but she says she has a boyfriend. Melissa feels guilty about being in the alliance and wants out, specially after she learns about Andrea. With Melissa out, the alliance falls apart. Back on Loser Island, Lisa, Jeanette and Laura talk about Anthony's manipulations. And we get to see Tony's new haircut (a mohawk). They all have a chance to bring someone back from Loser Island. All they have to do is say if they want to switch their current partners, and everybody says no,

It's the final days aboard the Mandalay. Anthony is still being the biggest snake on the ship, and this time he puts Toni against Michael saying things Michael didn't really say about Andrea. A raging Toni desperately searches for Mike until she can finally yell at him. Mike tries to tell the truth, but Toni is too blinded by Anthony's lies to see it. Toni talks Ralph into forming an alliance with her, which is quickly noticed by everybody on the ship. Mike asks Toni if she really wants Jeanette to win, and she tries to say yes, but is very clear that she means no. The voting time comes. Mike and Darin want Toni off, but Ralph and Anthony want Jeanette off. On the women side, they all (except for Toni) vote for Ralph. Melissa has the switch card, and the latest ones to leave the boat are Toni and Ralph. Toni grabs the switch card from Melissa's hand and rips it. As they arrive on Loser Island, Toni starts telling people that she gave up her place so Jeanette could win, and that Melissa

Finally, Judgement Day arrives. Toni is still upset about Jeanette bringing the truth to everyone's eyes and still denies ever trying to bribe her. Anthony, the one who caused all this conflict, still has the nerve to come to Jeanette and ask her to switch him for Michael so he can win. Justin brings the news that the eliminated couples now have a chance to go back on the game. All they have to do is pair in couples and vote for one couple to be brought back. Everybody decides to vote for themselves, except for Gina and Adrian, who know they don't stand a chance. Surprisingly, they're the ones who are voted back on the game, after all, they were the only ones who did not beg the switch card holders to bring them back to the game. Gina is the most shocked of all, since she was the first person to be voted off the boat. Back on the boat, there is one last round of hot seat. Toni asks for Adrian's forgiveness for dumping him earlier in the game. Among all the questions, Anthony's is the m

'Love Cruise' Sank. Can Networks Keep 'Reality' Shows Afloat?

Hardly anybody this week wanted to watch 16 hot young singles couple on a cruise ship and moan about their hard, hard lives while sunbathing in thongs and jams and drinking mimosas.

And network executives trembled.

Worried that the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon may have destroyed viewer taste for some of the more vapid reality programs, many TV suits yesterday were mourning the ratings for Tuesday's debut of Fox's highly anticipated "Love Cruise."

The program is among the subset of reality shows that are about a bunch of good-looking young contestants who laze around and angst about Me as opposed to those reality shows that, say, involve answering multiple-choice questions about pop culture or engaging in wholesome athletic competitions.

"Love Cruise" was rejected in a big way, with only about 6 million viewers tuning in to watch Toni wail about how shy she was before she went out and bought herself a pair of really big breasts, or Lisa break down as she revealed that boys used to bark at her as a child because she was ugly, or Anthony explain that his various tattoos are a defense against life's many cruelties.

And to think that less than eight months ago Fox's first "relationship" reality series, "Temptation Island," opened to a hefty crowd of more than 16 million.

Fox executives, who had toyed with the idea of airing "Love Cruise" right after the "Temptation Island" finale but chickened out because of that whole Ytossie/Taheed baby thing, were kicking themselves yesterday, no doubt while mumbling to themselves,

Of all sad words something, something, something,

The saddest are these: "It might have been!"

But there was solidarity among the networks yesterday; "Love Cruise" numbers were not exactly what any of them wanted to see immediately after a ratings week in which a flag-filled broadcast of the totally retro Miss America Pageant scored a bigger audience than the season finale of "Big Brother 2," the second episode of Jerry Bruckheimer's highly promoted "The Amazing Race" and every single edition of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." Nor were the "Love Cruise" stats what the networks were hoping to see one day after their annual Hollywood Radio & Television Society TV season-kickoff lunch/schmoozefest, during which moderator Bill Maher, who was there to grill the networks' programming chiefs about the upcoming season, would insist on asking them whether the terrorist attacks had rendered reality programming a thing of a kinder, gentler yesterday. "A show like 'Fear Factor' can't possibly work now," Maher pronounced to his all-industry audience. "We seem to be a more sober nation."

ABC's programming honcho Lloyd Braun agreed. "I worry about it . . . I'm not sure the country is going to be as accepting of these shows as they were in the past. The pettiness and interpersonal dynamics of people are one of the really interesting parts of these shows. But you have to wonder if, after the events of September 11, people will look at that now and say, 'puhleeze -- we don't care!' " he said gloomily.

Predictably, NBC's Jeff Zucker, who will likely slap summer series "Fear Factor" back on his schedule faster than you can say "Emeril opened to a 10 share," defended the genre.

"I think it would be an overreaction to say this is the end of reality," he said. "The good unscripted shows will endure."

Zucker chose not to define "good unscripted show," perhaps feeling that his lineup, also including "Spy TV" and "Weakest Link," would not stand the scrutiny.

Optimistically, Fox entertainment chief Gail Berman and CBS scheduling guru Kelly Kahl forecast that "purely escapist entertainment" might be just the ticket for weary Americans.

"I think they're escapist, and that's what people may be looking for now," Kahl said.

But that was before the numbers on "Love Cruise" came in, showing that it did a smaller number on Tuesday night among young adults than the season return of that flag-waving military drama "JAG," on old-timers network CBS.

" 'JAG' was big!" marveled one number-crunching network exec to The TV Column yesterday. "It fits in perfectly" with the tone of the country, he explained, "it's very patriotic, a very rah-rah program. Looking at Tuesday in a vacuum, I would've bet money that 'Love Cruise' would do a bigger [young] demo number than 'JAG'!"

The lousy start for "Love Cruise" has more to do with the glut of reality programming than any viewer mood swing in the wake of the terrorist attacks, said one network reality programming executive. But, the executive acknowledged, "Ultimately, we're all going to have to look at and decide what is the mood of the country."

"Maybe reality shows somehow pinpoint and get in on what the new wave is," the executive said. "I'm not sure yet. It's very early on; it's hard to know how long people will feel this way, if there is a way that they feel. I certainly don't think it's a permanent thing."

And just in case it is, Fox is among the networks working on the Next Big Thing: The Western.

Special correspondent Jeff Adler in Los Angeles contributed to this report.

Taking on water: Adrian and Melissa on "Love Cruise," which debuted to a mere 6 million Tuesday on Fox.

Toni Braxton Says Her Ideal Romantic Partner 'Will Watch Lifetime with Me All Day Long' (Exclusive)

After squashing marriage rumors earlier this year, Braxton tells PEOPLE how she's approaching single life amid preparation for her Las Vegas residency

Frazer Harrison/Getty

Single life looks good on Toni Braxton .

After squashing rumors of a marriage to her ex-fiancé Birdman late last year, the R&B icon is open to finding romance in Sin City as she prepares for her Love & Laughter residency with Cedric the Entertainer at the Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

"Single is nice," Braxton, 56, tells PEOPLE. "I haven't practiced it yet, but I'm going to soon 'cause I've been wrapped up in this show."

Paras Griffin/Getty

"I am looking forward to getting out there and dating. I mean, dating can be scary too. It can be a little bit," adds the seven-time Grammy winer. "But a nice guy, someone who will watch Lifetime with me all day long — [or] at least once in the week."

"It might be a little difficult," quips Braxton. "I'll take my time."

In December, the "Un-Break My Heart" singer took to Instagram and squashed rumors that she'd gotten married to Birdman, whom she was previously set to marry before they called off the engagement in 2019 — though they've reportedly since dated on and off.

"My dear friend @birdman and I are not married...never been married," she said at the time. "We are both single."

Braxton was  previously married to singer-songwriter Keri Lewis from 2001 to 2013, and they share sons Diezel Ky, 20, and Denim Cole, 22.

Ivan Duncan

The "He Wasn't Man Enough" musician is getting ready to kick off the seven-date Love & Laughter residency on April 27, and the show will be quite unique, combining her singing talents and Cedric's comedic skills as somewhat of a throwback to live variety programs. "They're going to see a show like Sonny and  Cher  or  Donny  and  Marie ," she teased to PEOPLE.

"It's not like I'm going to go on stage first, and then Cedric performs. We're coming out together, in different acts, and we intermingle between those acts for funny bits. And this man is so talented — he can really sing," added Braxton. "He's, like, a triple threat. I had no idea."

Inversely, Cedric was also impressed by the breadth of Braxton's onstage abilities. "We know Toni from the beautiful love ballads and everybody just kind of sees her as this sultry sultress, but she likes to have a good time," he told PEOPLE. "She's not gonna be telling  jokes  jokes — but she is funny."

Simone Inzaghi deserves some love after Inter Milan win Serie A

Inter Milan fans spill out onto the streets to celebrate their club's 20th Serie A title. (1:04)

toni love cruise

Inter Milan's title may have felt like an inevitability -- football's version of death and taxes -- because that's what happens when you're crowned champions with five games to go and a 17-point lead over second place. It's worth remembering, though, that in early February, the gap over second was just a single point (albeit with a game in hand). Juventus collapsed -- managing just one win in nine games -- while Inter continued their string of league victories, eventually taking it to 12 straight (15 in all competitions).

Juventus, the club who pride themselves on consistency and stability -- with coach Max Allegri, his six league titles and his steadfast belief that it's all about results -- faltered when it mattered. Inter, for so long a by-word for chaos, instability and crumbling when the going got tough -- ask any " Interista " about May 5 and if they know their history, they'll bow their heads, their lower lip will quiver and they'll slide into a deep depression -- turned into a veritable road-grader with Simone Inzaghi (zero league titles to his name) at the helm.

- Stream on ESPN+: LaLiga, Bundesliga & more (U.S.)

That's part of the context that makes this victory so remarkable. There's more, too, and it's evident when comparing this title to the 2020-21 Scudetto , won under manager Antonio Conte. That team had a net spend of €168.5 million ($180m) over his two seasons. Inzaghi's Inter, over three years, actually transferred players out for more than they spent on bringing them in, by margin of €175.4m ($187.5m). That's a swing of $367.5m, and there's no escaping that.

Conte's four most expensive signings were Romelu Lukaku (€74m), Achraf Hakimi (€43m), Nicolò Barella (€32m) and Christian Eriksen (€27m), all of whom made significant contributions. Inzaghi's four priciest signings were Joaquín Correa (€33m, including the initial loan fee, though he was sent on loan to Marseille after starting just 24 league games), Benjamin Pavard (€30m, a solid part of the center-back rotation), Robin Gosens (€27m, who was moved to Union Berlin for just €15m after 11 league starts in 18 months) and Zinho Vanheusden (€14.3m, though he never actually played a single minute for the club and was loaned out for three straight years).

So no, Inzaghi's team wasn't assembled by splashing big on the transfer market. Nor was it a case of him inheriting the superstars who arrived in the Conte Era. Of the 13 most-used players on the title-winning 2020-21 side, just four (Barella, Alessandro Bastoni , Stefan De Vrij and Lautaro Martínez ) are still at the club. Of those, only Barella was a Conte signing.

Rather, it's been about free agents (Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan , Marcus Thuram ), "value" (read as cheap, with none of them costing more than €12.5m) signings ( Denzel Dumfries , Matteo Darmian , Yann Bisseck , Yann Sommer ) and "loans-with-obligation-to-buy" (the sport's increasingly popular version of those "buy now, pay later" deals), which is how they landed Davide Frattesi . And all of this happening against the tick-tock of a massive €275m ($298m) loan -- which, with interest, amounts to €385m ($411m) -- that Inter's owner, Suning, took out in 2021 and that needs to be repaid by May 20. ( Reportedly , they're on the verge of successfully taking out a new loan; if they don't, Inter will have new owners.)

Credit for the wheeling and dealing that didn't just keep them afloat, but kept them successful -- in addition to the title, they also won two Italian Cups and reached the Champions League final last season -- goes to chief executive Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio. But the biggest, and possibly least likely, success story here is Inzaghi himself.

In an era of folk hero/visionary managers, where most top coaches are busy marketing themselves (or having someone do it for them), Inzaghi is unassuming and disarmingly low-key. In the oft-heated Serie A cauldron, the most incensed he got was earlier this year when he quietly said "Please don't mistake my good manners for a lack of intelligence."

An armchair psychologist might suggest that it has something to do with the fact that Simone grew up with a far more charismatic older brother, Pippo, whose footballing achievements (288 goals to 90, three league titles to one, 57 international caps to three) far outstrip his own. And because most agree that Simone was more gifted than his brother, but achieved less, those same pop psychologists often chalk it up to metaphysical stuff like desire, intensity and testosterone.

Maybe so, but maybe bombast, self-promotion and charisma don't matter that much if you know how to coach. And, undoubtedly, he does. Inzaghi's teams are among the most pragmatic in Europe, capable of shape-shifting -- from pressing to sitting back, from building from defence to playing long ball, from shutting up shop to playing possession football -- often three or four times during a single game.

Inzaghi improves and evolves players too, whether it's Çalhanoğlu turning from a No.10 into a deep-lying playmaker, or Thuram learning to play in a front two, or Martinez breaking the 20-goal mark in Serie A in each of his three seasons with Inzaghi. Fede Dimarco went from being an unloved, undersized third center back to one of the most devastating attacking fullbacks in the game, while Mkhitaryan transitioned in his 30s from winger to central midfielder.

He doesn't go around reminding people that he's an innovator, but there's probably no manager -- at least among Europe's top clubs -- that has capitalized on the increase in substitutions from three to five as much as Simeone has. From his "programmed subs" -- whereby he often decides to change wingbacks ahead of time, based on the game situation -- to carefully doling out playing time to minimize the impact of injuries and suspensions, Inzaghi is on the cutting edge.

He also seems to avoid controversy almost as intently as he avoids the limelight, leaving it to the players. And yes, it's the players who actually play the games, meaning it's only right to celebrate their contributions on the pitch. All of them deserve praise: Yann Sommer seamlessly handled the transition from André Onana in goal. Dimarco and Dumfries were electric out wide, Bastoni and Matteo Darmian held firm at the back, Çalhanoğlu, Mkhitaryan and Barella were impactful in midfield (plus Frattesi, Inter's fourth-leading scorer despite just three starts) and, of course, Martinez and Thuram added goals and energy up front.

But let's not forget Simone Inzaghi, the guy who put the pieces on the board and artfully moved them around all season. He may not look like a top coach, and he may not act like one outside of the training ground and on the bench come match day. But there's little question Inter would not be where they are without him.

“The right man for the right role”: Keanu Reeves Replaces Tom Cruise in The Mummy Fanmade Trailer and It Certainly Looks Promising

T he world fell in love with Keanu Reeves ever since he portrayed the role of Jack Traven in the iconic 1994 film  Speed.  Going on to  The Matrix  franchise, Reeves solidified his career in Hollywood with millions of fans to his name.

In a recent fan-made trailer, Reeves replaced Tom Cruise in  The Mummy  franchise. With shots from various Keanu Reeves movies and  The Mummy,  the trailer sure looks good. But more importantly, Reeves could turn out to be the actor who could replace Tom Cruise in  The Mummy  franchise for the Dark Universe!

Keanu Reeves Might Just Be The Perfect Man To Replace Tom Cruise!

Taking to YouTube, a fanmade trailer for a sequel to the 2017 movie  The Mummy  was released by KH Studio . With shots from the 2017 film with cuts of Keanu Reeves in between, the trailer surely looks good compared to other fanmade trailers.

With Universal Studios trying to create a Dark Universe with horrors from beyond, it seems that Keanu Reeves may be able to save their film. Having some iconic shots of Reeves from films like the  John Wick  franchise, the trailer managed to mix  The Mummy  and Reeves well together. Taking to the comment section of the video, here’s what people had to say about the  Speed  actor potentially replacing Tom Cruise in  The Mummy !

“It was, like, better than an Oscar”: Tom Cruise Broke His 1 Weird Rule for The Mummy Co-Star and She’ll Be Forever Grateful for Years to Come

“The right man for the the right role for me!!” “John wick taking on super natural forces” “You know it will be good with Reeves in it” “Love this concept for a movie!”

10 Times Movie Critics Were Horribly Wrong: Even Brendan Fraser’s The Mummy Was Not Safe From Awful Reviews

Well, as much as we would love to see a mishmash of Constantine, Indiana Jones, John Wick, and, Lara Croft taking on a supernatural mummy, the trailer is just fanmade. On the other hand, Reeves has so many movies to his name that he decided to reject roles (and with good reason too). In an interview, Reeves talked about letting go of  Speed 2: Cruise Control  and the hilarious reason for which he said no!

Why Keanu Reeves Rejected  Speed 2: Cruise Control ?

Back in 1994, Reeves and Sandra Bullock portrayed the lead roles of Jack Traven and Annie Porter in the iconic film  Speed.  Since the movie was a success, a sequel was naturally developed but this time, the bomb would be on a cruise ship.

During his appearance on  Jimmy Kimmel Live  (via  Den of Geek ), Reeves revealed that he had to drop out of the project for two reasons. The second reason is simply too hilarious to drop out of a movie!

“You are a national treasure”: Keanu Reeves’ Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Role Was Probably Foreshadowed Way Back and Now Fans Have Only 1 Demand

“I loved working with Jan de Bont and Sandra, of course. It was just a situation in life where I got the script and I read the script and I was like ugggghhh.”

He further continued,

“It was about a cruise ship and I was thinking, a bus, a cruise ship… Speed, bus, but then a cruise ship is even slower than a bus and I was like, I love you guys but I just can’t do it.”

“It was slightly out of context”: Keanu Reeves’ The Matrix Flawlessly Uses the Trans Allegory Because it Wasn’t Forced and Lilly Wachowski Agrees

Well, luckily the decision worked out in favor of Reeves since he got to be a part of  The Matrix  while  Speed 2: Cruise Control  became a massive failure. As of April 2023, Keanu Reeves , Sandra Bullock, and director Jan de Bont have expressed their interest in returning for a Speed  sequel with the original cast returning.

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise’s 2017 film, The Mummy (which was considered an average film) is available to rent on Apple TV+ in the U.S.
