Jeremy Pelt

  • Has Influenced

Jeremy Pelt arrived in New York in 1998 after graduating from Berklee College of Music. Once he got there, it wasn't long before he started being noticed by a lot of top musicians in the city. His first professional Jazz gig was playing with the Mingus Big Band. That gig lead to many long lasting associations with many of the talent in the band, and a great opportunity for growth.

Since his arrival, he has been fortunate enough to play with many of today's and yesterday's Jazz luminaries, such as Jimmy Heath, Frank Wess, Charli Persip, Keter Betts, Frank Foster, John Hicks, Ravi Coltrane, Winard Harper, Vincent Herring, Ralph Peterson, Lonnie Plaxico, Cliff Barbaro, Nancy Wilson, Bobby Short, Bobby "Blue" Bland, The Skatalites, Cedar Walton, and many, many more. Jeremy has also been featured in a variety of different bands, including the Roy Hargrove Big Band, The Village Vanguard Orchestra, the Duke Ellington Big Band. Currently, he is member of the Lewis Nash Septet, and The Cannonball Adderley Legacy Band featuring Louis Hayes.

Pelt...maintains a consistent forward momentum.. while he transmits a modern-day sense of urgency with his songs. Pelt's major focus is on writing music for each of his three bands: "Creation"- a sextet consisting of trumpet, alto sax/bass clarinet, vibraphone, guitar, bass and drums.

"Noise"- an semi-electric band consisting of trumpet w/ effects, guitar, rhodes, bass and drums, and "The Jeremy Pelt Quartet"- which is trumpet, rhodes, bass and drums. His work earned him a huge write-up in the Wall Street Journal by legendary Jazz writer and producer Nat Hentoff. His performances have received rave reviews from publications around the world.

After a reading of Pelt's biography and discography, it's easy to see why Pelt was voted Rising Star on the Trumpet two years in a row by Downbeat Magazine and the Jazz Journalist Association. Pelt was born in California on November 4,1976. While in elementary school, he started playing the trumpet. His primary interest was strictly classical music until he started high school when he began playing in the Jazz band. Upon completion of high scool, he headed back east to Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee, Jeremy worked diligently on Film Scoring during the day and cut his teeth playing at night.

Jeremy is currently a featured performer in the Mingus Big Band, Ralph Peterson Quintet, Lewis Nash Ensemble, Cannonball Adderley Legacy Quintet featuring Louis Hayes, Vincent Herring, and the Frank Foster Loud Minority Big Band.

Jeremy Pelt: Tomorrow's Another Day

Trumpeter Jeremy Pelt, a force on the jazz scene for more than two decades, simply does his own thing on Tomorrow's Another Day, the twenty-fourth album as leader of his own groups, inviting any interested listeners to come on board for the ride. Pelt's thing these days apparently includes an abundance of special effects, reverb, heavy (and at times intrusive) rhythms, leavened with occasional flashes of the remarkable improviser he can be and often is. To help ...

Drummer Xaver (X-Man) Hellmeier has been little known to date outside his native Germany and other European countries. One way to help redress that oversight is to surround oneself with some of the most well-respected and talented musicians on the New York scene, which is what Hellmeir has done on his superb debut album, X-Man in New York. When it comes to choosing sidemen, it is hard to belie the inclusion of trumpeter Jeremy Pelt, tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander, pianist ...

jny:Philadelphia-based singer Maci Miller gives her audience a variety of looks, all of them good. On first hearing, Blossom Dearie, but then, Blossom Dearie was Blossom Dearie. No one ever sounded quite like her. Then again, there is some mid 1960s Nancy Wilson, hushed, clipped, all business. On reflecting that Dearie and Wilson an odd combination do make, one just listens and stops thinking influences, other than “eclectic." Or maybe Billie Holiday, if Miller is in the mood. Jeremy Pelt The Artist

Jeremy Pelt The Artist

Source: Rifftides by Doug Ramsey February 23, 2019

For nearly two decades, Pelt has made it clear via his trumpet playing, and occasionally in interviews, that he is attuned to what other artists achieve in their work. That sensitivity extends well beyond jazz—indeed, beyond music. For this album, his primary inspiration came from the 19th century French sculptor Auguste Rodin. In notes for Pelt’s first album, Profile (2001) I observed, “Pelt’s own studiousness is audible, as are his confidence, his senses of proportion and humor, and the depth ... read more

Jeremy Pelt is not only one of the most fiery and lyrical trumpeters on the jazz scene but also one of its most engaging bandleaders. He has documented several strong units over the years, not least of all the one heard on Soundtrack, his third outing with vibraphonist Chien Chien Lu, pianist Victor Gould, bassist Vicente Archer, and drummer Allan Mednard. Flautist Anne Drummond adds sublime textural and improvisational layers to Pelt’s minisuite “The Lighter Side” and “The Darker Side,” and Brittany Anjou plays outside-the-box keyboards (Mellotron, Moog Sub 37) on “The Darker Side” and “I’m Still Standing” (not the Elton John hit). Pelt has a soaring harmonic imagination and moves seamlessly between acoustic and electric palettes, even fading them in and out within the same piece, as occurs on the opening “Picking Up the Pieces” and again on the two-part suite. It’s a deft and genuinely surprising compositional device rather than a glib stylistic posture, enabled by the masterful doubling of Gould on Rhodes and Archer on electric bass.

Lana Del Rey Goes Public with New Boyfriend, Alligator Tour Guide Jeremy Dufrene

The post Lana Del Rey Goes Public with New Boyfriend, Alligator Tour Guide Jeremy Dufrene appeared first on Consequence .

Lana Del Rey seemingly confirmed rumors that she is dating professional alligator tour guide Jeremy Dufrene, as the two attended Karen Elson’s wedding together in New York on Saturday.

The couple was photographed holding hands as they left Electric Lady Studios, where the wedding took place.

According to TMZ , Dufrene, age 49, is a professional alligator tour guide who first met Del Rey in 2019 when he gave her and her friends a tour in Des Allemands, Louisiana.

The Daily Mail reports that Del Rey and Dufrene reconnected earlier this year at the Hangout Music Festival in Golf Shores, Alabama, which Del Rey headlined. Last month, Dufrene attended Del Rey’s headlining set at Leeds Festival in the UK and were seen holding hands backstage. The singer seemed to initially deny rumors that the two were together, responding to an Instagram post about them dating by simply commenting, “No.” However, some of Del Rey’s fans questioned whether her comment was in response to a separate comment from a fan noting that Dufrene had only recent separated from his wife and asking Del Rey if that raised any “red flags.”

Del Rey is gearing up for the release of her new country music album, Lasso . Last week, she was confirmed to appear at the Stagecoach Music Festival in Indio, California, next April.

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed the reasons behind ending his long-running partnership with Richard Hammond and James May .

The trio, known for their work together since 2002 on BBC’s Top Gear and later on Amazon’s The Grand Tour, will conclude their on-screen collaboration with an upcoming special titled One for the Road.

Clarkson, who is currently experiencing renewed success with Clarkson’s Farm, discussed his decision to step back from the car shows in an interview with The Sunday Times.

He said, "After 36 years of talking about cars on television, I’m packing it in because I’m too old and fat to get into the cars that I like and not interested in driving those I don’t."

This decision marks the end of his 22-year collaboration with Hammond and May.

Clarkson said: "What this means of course is that my 22-year partnership with James May and Richard Hammond is now over. You can see our final road trip together on Amazon Prime very soon. It’s emotional."

jeremy pelt tour

Reflecting on how they chose to conclude their journey, he shared: "We thought long and hard about how we should end our 22-year partnership, but in the end, we just went to the end of the alphabet" and chose Zimbabwe as the setting for their final adventure.

He added, "There was another reason why we chose Zimbabwe, though. We would drive across it from east to west, as usual, but then we could cross the border and finish up where we began all those years ago: the Makgadikgadi salt pans in Botswana."

Clarkson said he was relieved expressed satisfaction that their partnership didn’t end "in a blizzard of outrage and tabloid headlines," but rather "landed safely and gently."

He acknowledged the emotional weight of the final moments on set, even though he admitted he didn’t shed a tear .

Speaking about the end of The Grand Tour: One For The Road, Clarkson said: “I’m not saying this in a derogatory way by any means but James has the emotions of a stone. “He just doesn’t do emotions, so there were no tears from him. Hammond, yes.

“I was surprisingly unemotional in a weird way because I can see James and Hammond any time I want to, they’re only a phone call away, and I’m sure we will.

“And I’ve done enough of the travel, I was worn out by it.”

He added that he “would have been emotional” with the crew but they work on his Prime Video show, Clarkson’s Farm, where he attempts to run his farm in the Cotswolds.

Clarkson said: “There I was with all these guys that I’ve known and worked with for 24 years and I said, ‘I’ll see you all on Monday morning’ because they all work on Clarkson’s Farm.

jeremy pelt tour

“I’m 100% convinced I would have been a lot more emotional without the farm show.” "Was it sad when the director called, ‘That’s a wrap,’ for the very last time? Yes, it was.

“Especially as some of the crew had been with us when we were there before. People think of Top Gear and The Grand Tour as being James, Richard and me. But it isn’t. We’ve had the same crews for years. We’ve all grown up together."

He also paid tribute to the crew members.

He said: "We’ve camped together. S*** our lungs out together, laughed our arses off together. These are the guys who really made those shows...”

The final Grand Tour episode will be available on Prime Video on September 13.

Lana del rey and rumored boyfriend jeremy dufrene hold hands as they attend model karen elson’s nyc wedding.

Lana Del Rey brought her rumored boyfriend, Jeremy Dufrene, as her plus one to model Karen Elson’s New York City wedding Saturday.

The “Summertime Sadness” songstress and the alligator tour guide were photographed holding hands upon leaving the ceremony venue at Electric Lady Studios.

Del Rey, 39, was all smiles and didn’t shy away from keeping a tight hold on Dufrene, 49, as paparazzi swarmed them.

The pop star donned a satin blue halter-style dress and white ballet flats for her friend’s nuptials to Lee Foster, who is the owner of the Greenwich Village recording studio.

As for Dufrene, he sported a blue suit with a white button-up shirt and brown dress shoes.

Del Rey wasn’t seen with her BFF Taylor Swift — despite the 14-time Grammy winner arriving at the ceremony earlier in the day with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

Del Rey and Dufrene first sparked romance rumors when they were seen holding hands at the Reading & Leeds Festival in the UK last month, per an Instagram video.

According to the Daily Mail, the duo made a pit stop in London to visit Harrod’s and a bar.

The “West Coast” singer and Dufrene’s history dates back to March 2019 when she took one of his Airboat Tours by Arthur cruises while visiting Louisiana for the BUKU Music + Art Project festival.

At the time, Dufrene documented meeting the hitmaker on Instagram, writing, “I never know who I can run across on my tours but always a pleasure @lanadelrey.”

Del Rey also commemorated the trip with a picture posted via Facebook, captioning it, “Jeremy lemme be captain at Arthur’s Air Boat Tours x.”

The pair seemingly met up once again when the 11-time Grammy nominee took another one of Dufrene’s tours in May.

“Family w my guy @jeremy.dufrene,” Del Rey captioned a snap of herself with two pals.

Last week, Del Rey seemingly denied she Dufrene and were dating after a fan account shared additional details about her “latest boyfriend.”

Per People, Dufrene has a son and two daughters.

The “Radio” singer was last rumored to be dating musician Jack Donoghue in 2022 and musician Clayton Johnson in 2020.
