must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

There’s nothing K-Pop can’t conquer. Ever since the Korean Wave (or Hallyu ) started around the beginning of the new millennium, it has swept over Asia and moved onto the rest of the world, making South Korea and its entertainment industry famous on a global scale. Today K-Pop idols and groups play in sold-out stadiums and arenas worldwide and have fans of every nationality that support them and want to see their home country, exploring its culture and food as well as its music.

If you’re also planning to wander around the streets of Seoul to retrace your favourite idol’s steps, then this is the perfect guide to everything there is to do and see in the birthplace of K-Pop.

The seven members of K-Pop boy band BTS pose in front of a video screen.

Entertainment companies and music shows

K-Pop fans know that it all begins with Korean entertainment companies – part music labels and part talent agencies, they’re places where idols train and then stay for generally the entirety of their careers. Their headquarters are a good place to start your K-Pop journey and who knows, you might be lucky enough to see your favourite idol arrive at the company for another work day!

Entertainment companies are all located in Seoul, the beating heart of the K-Pop industry, and they’re generally in the central areas of the city, like the famous Gangnam district.  SM Entertainment , the birthplace of groups like Girls’ Generations, Shinee, EXO and Red Velvet, is particularly worth a visit since it also has a special cultural space dedicated entirely to fans called SMTOWN@coexartium – it includes a museum of the company’s history, augmented reality spaces in which you can come face to (virtual) face with your favourite artists, and a hologram theatre for concerts and special performances, as well as a cafe and gift shop.

The four members of K-Pop girl group Blackpink pose on a pink-lit stage.

Another staple of the K-Pop industry are music shows, weekly television programmes where idols perform and promote their songs. Getting into one of the music shows isn't always easy and the method varies depending on which group you want to see, but if you plan in advance it might be your best shot at seeing your favourites perform live in front of you. However, depending on when you're visiting, you might be able to catch one of the big concerts instead – where multiple artists perform sets of their most famous hits. For example, the Lotte Family Concert is held around August in Seoul (while the Busan One Asia Festival takes place in Busan around late October or early November).

Street sightseeing

Seoul, and especially Gangnam, fully recognises how much the K-Pop industry appeals to tourists, and has created plenty of opportunities for fans to “meet” their idols when they come to South Korea.

You might want to visit the G+Star Zone inside the Apgujeong Rodeo Station , for example, a cultural space entirely dedicated to the Korean Wave and its stars that includes various photo zones and video stations, with new celebrities being added each year as they rise to fame. The Star Avenue at Lotte Duty Free in Myeongdong follows the same idea – a corridor leading into one of Seoul’s bustling shopping areas filled with photos and handprints of idols, actors and other celebrities. Myeongdong is also the best place to get some of your K-Pop shopping done, since the Underground Shopping Centre has all the albums and merchandise you could wish for.

One of the K-Pop statues at the Gangnam K-Star ROAD.

A very cute attraction that you absolutely can’t miss is the K-Star ROAD , not too far away from Apgujeong Rodeo Station. The whole road is filled with dolls and statues representing specific K-Pop groups, more often than not also carrying the members’ signatures.

Cafes and restaurants

South Koreans love quirky and hip cafes , and K-Pop idols are no exception. Following their footsteps in and out of their favourite cafes couldn’t be easier, because most of them don’t make a secret of an idol’s visit. You’ll find pictures and memorabilia of famous patrons everywhere inside them, providing tourists with a perfect Instagram opportunity. Some cafes are even owned by idols, making your chances of meeting your favourite artists even higher.

For example, Kamong Café in Gangnam is owned by EXO’s Kai, and it’s an excellent place to try one of South Korea’s signature sweets, the bingsu – shaved ice with any kind of topping on it, from fruit syrup to red beans. The Street cafe in the Cheongdam neighbourhood is managed by JYP Entertainment and it’s been the haunt of famous JYP groups like Twice and Got7, with even some of the members’ handprints hanging from the walls.

The inside of the Laundry Pizza restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, with washing machines lining the exposed redbrick walls.

The same goes for restaurants. The famous Laundry Pizza restaurant in the Yeoksam neighbourhood of Gangnam, for example, was the background for many idols’ photoshoots, from BTS to Apink, and it’s a must-visit if you want to boast a photo with the same backdrop as your favourite groups (or if you’re simply craving some pizza in a very aesthetically pleasing place!).

A pair of buildings on the Kyung Hee University campus in Seoul, South Korea: the white, colonnaded University Administration Building, reminiscent of a Greek temple, in the foreground, with the ornate Grand Peace Hall behind, resembling a cathedral.

Music video locations

While K-Pop groups travel all over the world to film their videos, it doesn’t mean they don’t also make good use of the locations South Korea can offer. You might want to visit the Kyung Hee University in Seoul, for example, where Apink filmed part of their Only One  music video on a rooftop. The university’s auditorium was also used as the iconic backdrop to Blackpink’s summer hit As If It’s Your Last .

The abandoned amusement park Yongma Land in the Jungnang district of Seoul features in many music videos and photoshoots, and you’ll recognise its carousel from the background of Twice’s Like Ooh Aah  and B.A.P.’s 1004 , as well as a number of Korean dramas.

On the outskirts of Seoul, you’ll find the Gyeonggi English Village of Paju, which features in two Super Junior videos, Magic  and U , as well as in EXO’s Miracle in December . Outside Seoul, on the other side of South Korea, you’ll find the town of Gangneung : the bus stop at Jumunjin beach shot to global fame after BTS used it as the cover shot for their 2017 album You Never Walk Alone .

Experience traditional Korea with BTS

The K-pop mega-group BTS is beloved for many reasons, but among the boys’ heartthrob qualities is their deep roots in Korean tradition – with shows, performances and tours at the monumental sites as the gateway into Korean history and culture for their global fans. You can absolutely follow BTS’s footsteps and experience the rich cultural legacy of South Korea.

Sungnyemun Gate in Seoul

Start at the grand Sungnyemun Gate . Colloquially known as Namdaemun or Grand South Gate, where BTS had their opening performance for the 2021 Global Citizen Live worldwide charity entertainment event. Officially dubbed by the Korean government as National Treasure no.1, Sungnyemun is one of the Four Great Gates of old Seoul. Intricately built with wood in the traditional Korean archway design, with a history that dates back to the 14 th Century. A site of cultural and historical significance to this day.

Yongin Dae Jang Geum Park in Gyeonggi Province South Korea

Next, head out to the Yongin Dae Jang Geum Park , just an hour from Seoul in the Gyeonggi Province. The park is South Korea’s largest historical drama set, with streets and houses built based on historical records of the architecture of the Three-Kingdom Periods in the Joseon Dynasty. It is a popular filming location for historical K-dramas like Jewel in the Palace , and where BTS’s Suga shot his iconic Daechwita music video.

Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul South Korea

Finally, the majestic Gyeongbokgung Palace is a must-visit for BTS fans, where the group recorded performances wearing traditional Hanbok at the palace’s various iconic spaces; including the Geunjeongjeon Hall, the Gyeonghoeru Pavilion in the palace’s great pond, the vibrantly colourful Heungnyemun Gate, and the antique Korea House.

If you’ve just finished your BTS traditional tour above, then step out the Gyeongbokgung Palace to Gwanghwamun Square , the bustling hub of art museums, cultural markets and historic monuments, including the great statues of two Korean legends, Yi Sun Sin and King Sejong. Fans of The King: Eternal Monarch would recognize the iconic horse-riding scene here!

Discover Kpop Entertainment Companies

Let’s be real. How exciting would it be to visit the buildings where so much magic has happened. Most of our favorite artists had to start somewhere before they were big stars. So why not visit their companies and maybe get a peek of them in the process?

Big Hit Entertainment

Of course the most notable artist to come from this entertainment company is BTS. They also have artists such as Lee ChangMin and Homme.

Also, fun fact, they are moving to another new building in May of 2020 . Since BTS is such a huge conglomerate at the moment, they need a bigger building to support all their success.

Current Building Address: Floor Yangjin Plaza 5F, 5 Hakdong-ro 30-gil, Nonhyeon 2(i)-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul

We all know who the big powerhouse behind Cube is… If you say Hyuna, then you are right. This queen runs the damn show. Cube Entertainment is also home to artists like BtoB, CLC, and Pentagon.

Located outside of Seongsu Station, there is also a cafe at the bottom. If you’re lucky, you might see your favorite artist and maybe some trainees.

Address : 83 Achasan-ro, Seongsu-dong 2(i)-ga, Seongdong-gu, Seoul

Let’s start with a roll call of your favorite artists like AOA, F.T. Island, and CN Blue. The building is closed to visitors, but as a fan you can go and take a picture of the building’s exterior and hope for a glimpse of your favorite stars.

Address: 46 Dosan-daero 85-gil, Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul

Even though JYP himself is a shitty Kpop star, he definitely knows talent when he sees it. Hence his very successful entertainment business and army of talented stars. His company manages artists like Twice, Miss A, GOT7, and 2PM.

Address: 205 Gangdong-daero, Seongnae-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul

SM Entertainment

If you’re a fan of Shinee, EXO, Red Velvet, Super Junior, BoA or NCT, then you definitely want to visit this building. It’s kinda where the dreams of these artists came trie.

Address: 114 Seolleung-ro 190-gil, Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul

YG Entertainment

Everyone knows YG because of the kings… Big Bang. Even though one of the members is a piece of trash, the rest are still pretty okay in my book. Even though YG is completely enveloped in scandal and their CEO just stepped down, they are working to become a better entertainment company. If you’re a fan of artists like Black Pink, 2NE1, and PSY, you gotta make the visit.

Address: 397-5 Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul

Luckily for all Kpop fans, you can make a day trip out of all these entertainment companies since they are all nearby. Keep in mind most of these buildings (except the Cube cafe) are closed to visitors, but it’s always fin to go for bragging rights.

If You're A K-Pop Fan Visiting Korea, Check Out These Places

From BTS murals to idol-owned cafes, there's something for every K-pop fan.

Grace Lee

BuzzFeed Contributor

South Korea recently announced that they're lifting the previously mandatory quarantine period for vaccinated guests. What does this mean? A trip to South Korea ASAP.

For all my k-pop fans, this is the perfect time to check out cafes and hot spots affiliated with your favorite k-pop stars, here are 12 places in south korea to add to your travel itinerary:, 1. aweol monsant.

View this photo on Instagram

Address:  2546 Aewol-ri, Aewol-eup, Cheju, Jeju-do

Planning a trip to Jeju Island after exploring Seoul? If so, you have to stop by this beautiful cafe. It's owned by G-Dragon himself, with the interior reflecting a lot of his stylish personality. The glass windows inside the cafe make the space look very big and spacious, but the outside terrace is the more breathtaking part. If you go right at sunset, you'll enjoy beautiful Jeju Island views.

2. The SamE

Cafe entrance interior

Address:  6-3, Huiujeong-ro 1-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul

The SamE is the perfect stop to get all your favorite YG artist merch. The company created it as a space for YG artist fans to chill and get to know their favorite idols. There are two floors in this cafe, and the basement houses artist and cafe merchandise. The whole cafe has a somewhat futuristic aspect to it and you'll often see the slogan, "Alter Ego," sprinkled within the space. The menu has refreshing drinks, cake-like donuts, and more delicious sweets.

3. Cafe Dudart

Interior of Cafe Dudart

Address:  642-15 Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul

Located in the bustling city of Apugeong, this cafe is the definition of hip. The black exterior of the building and neon interior lights can only point to one thing: AOMG. Although this cafe is a chain franchise, this particular location has a partnership with AOMG, formerly Jay Park's company. Not only do they sell desserts, but they also have an actual restaurant menu of hot dogs , sandwiches, and more.

Address:  1678-4 Seocho 1(il)-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul

This super cute cafe is owned by Exo Kai's sister. There are tons of seating options and it has an artistic feel with much of the space filled with artwork. Most of their menu contains refreshing drinks, baked goods, and sweet treats. If you're lucky, you might even run into Kai, who's a regular there. Fun fact: the cafe name, Kamong, is a combination of Kai and Monggu, his dog.

5. Yogorino

Address:  339-1, Seo-gyo dong, Ma-po gu

Looking for a place to cool down from the hot weather? This is the perfect spot. Owned by Zico's father, this frozen yogurt and coffee shop. The brand itself is actually an Italian ice cream franchise, but Zico opened up a store for his father back in 2016. Because it's located at the heart of Hongdae, it's the perfect place to grab a bite of froyo before you continue shopping.

6. HopeWorld

"Chicken Noodle Soup" artwork

Address: K-Pop Star Street, Chungjang-ro, Gwangju

Calling all BTS fans! This HopeWorld sculpture is the epitome of all things J-Hope. From a "Chicken Noodle Soup" painting to a colorful mural to a sculpture with engraved messages from fans, it's the perfect spot to celebrate J-Hope. In fact, the sculpture has over 21,800 messages from ARMYs all over the world. This iconic photo spot is located in the heart of Gwangju, J-Hope's hometown.

7. RM Forest

RM forest sign

Address:  65 Hangaram-ro, Jamsil 2(i)-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul (RM Forest 1) & 389 Ichon 2(i)-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul (RM Forest 2)

To celebrate RM's 26th birthday, fans created RM Forest 2 near the Han River Park, where fans could rest and enjoy the scenery. However, this forest holds a special meaning in that it's also to preserve the environment, which RM has been a big proponent of. There are actually two locations of this forest; RM Forest 1 is located in Jamsi Hangang Park and was built to celebrate RM's 25th birthday.

Exterior of Magnate cafe

Address:  1786-19, Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu, Busan

Owned by BTS's Jimin's father, Magate is a great cafe for those wantiong to just grab a cup of coffee and rest up. The interior is a combination of elegant, modern, and minimalist, with a grand chandelier at the center of the cafe. They're known for their coffee drinks and delicious pastries.

9. Ossu Seiromushi

Exterior of restaurant

Welcome to BTS's Jin and his brother's Japanese cuisine restaurant! This restaurant serves Japanese cuisine at a slightly higher price point, but tourists say their ingredients are always high class. It's the perfect place to enjoy a nice meal out with your family or friends.

10. Mouse Rabbit

Exterior of cafe

Address: 1 Neungdong-ro 11-gil, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul

This cafe is actually more of the well-known ones in the K-pop industry, considering that it's been featured in many of the idols' personal YouTube channels. It's owned by Super Junior's Yesung and his brother. It's a fairly large cafe with three floors, each with different vibes. To give a quick run-down of each floor: the basement is called the "rabbit hole" and gives off a homey feel with a fireplace and cozy tables; the first floor is the place for views with an open terrace and balcony; the second floor is decorated beautifully and shares the space with other stores. Overall, it's the perfect Instagram-photo location.

11. Caffe Soo

Suzy posing in the cafe

Address:  14-25 Usan-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, South Korea

Cafe Soo's exterior and interior is covered with pictures of the "nation's first love" — Bae Suzy! Suzy gifted this cafe to her mother back in 2013. It's a cozy place with great coffee and loads of Suzy-related content. Although Gwangju is a bit of a drive from Korea, this cafe is a great place to visit if you're a fan of Suzy.

12. M Countdown

Woman and man mc'ing music show

Address:  Sangam Sanro 66, Mapo-gu, Seoul

You can actually go to a M Countdown pre-recording or actual show to see your favorite artists perform live! Every Wednesday, M Countdown will post a line-up on Facebook for the following Thursday, where you can check if your favorite groups are performing/making a comeback. On the day of, it's recommended that you go earlier to stand in the queue line. There are three tiers that determine when the staff will let you in. Tier 1 is for official fan club members; Tier 2 is for non-fan club members who have an album and proof of a purchase of a digital single on listening apps; Tier 3 is for non-fan club members who have their passports. If you do plan on attending, be sure to bring your passport.

13. Music Bank

Man and woman mc'ing for a music show

Music Bank runs on a slightly different method than M Countdown in terms of fans watching the pre-recording sessions. To be eligible to get in, you'll need to create a KBS account . From there, you can sign up from Thursday at 9 a.m. KST to Saturday 12 a.m. KST to be entered in a ticket lottery.

1. gwangju kpop star street.

When you visit downtown Gwangju, you will find the pictures and names of several of your favorite idols whose hometown is Gwangju. What makes it more astonishing is that there is a star memorial hall and mural that shows various albums from multiple artists.

Of course, you can’t miss the sculpture inspired by BTS j-hope’s HOPE WORLD mixtape, filled with 21,800 messages of love from ARMYs all over the world.

Besides j-hope of BTS, other Kpop idols from Gwangju are Yunho of TVXQ, I.M of MONSTA X, Yunho of ATEEZ, Yoojung and Mill of OnlyOneOf, Seungmin of Golden Child, Yoon of STAYC, Lee Nagyung of fromis_9,  Bae Suzy to name a few.

A nature lover must love this spot! There is a beautiful forest in the middle of Seoul city. “RM Soop” or “RM Forest” is the first forest built by ARMY (BTS fans) on RM’s 26th birthday . But that’s not all; there is actually more than one forest dedicated to BTS leader RM or Kim Namjoon. This should absolutely be on the bucket list of ARMY!

5. Busan Gamcheon Culture Village

It might need extra effort to visit Busan Gamcheon Culture Village, but trust me, it’s worth it. You can see beautiful art there, including a giant mural of Jimin and Jungkook of BTS. Known as the hometown of Jimin and Jungkook, there is a lot to visit and experience in Busan.

6. SMTOWN COEX Artium

One of the must-visit Kpop-inspired locations is SMTOWN COEX Artium. Inspired by your favorite idols from SM Entertainment , this is a perfect place to buy albums, merchandise, and more.

A K-drama fan’s ultimate guide to Seoul

10 places to visit in Seoul if you love Kdramas

Whether you’re new to the world of Hallyu or a veteran, it’s difficult to keep your mind from meandering through the streets of Seoul. Such is the beauty of South Korea’s capital city. Some of the most iconic scenes from your favourite K-drama also make for great spots to visit as a first-timer in the city. Here’s a K-drama fan’s handbook for your next vacation in Seoul.

Namsan Tower

Namsan Tower

Namsan Tower

The Namsan Tower, more popularly known as the N Seoul Tower amongst travellers, is Seoul’s best bet for a cracking view of the capital city without any trekking involved, thanks to the outdoor elevator. This iconic landmark is a go-to date night venue in many K-drama shows. From Goo Jyon-Piyo in Boys Over Flowers to Joon Jae in The Legend of the Blue Sea , this place has seen protagonists tirelessly wait for their lady loves, with romantic snowfall and sparkling city lights as the backdrop. The cable car ride to the tower offers panoramic vistas of autumn foliage during the day from September to November, and a gorgeous aerial view of the city at night. Don’t forget to hang your padlock on the railings of the Love Lock Bridge, just like Song-Yi and Min-Jun from My Love from The Star.   Insider tip: Joon-Jae’s (actor Lee Min-Ho from The Legend of the Blue Sea ) wooden gated house is located just behind the Namsan Tower’s cable car station and can be visited en route to this destination. Book tickets here.

Lotte World

The fantastical Lotte World is one of the world’s largest indoor theme park and is a common feature across K-dramas. It is lively, dreamy and beautiful in all seasons, especially during spring, with cherry blossoms all along the pavements. The whimsical Camelot Carousel, with 64 graceful white horses pirouetting up and down at a mellow pace serves the perfect carnival experience. Enjoy corn dogs and bumper cars, like Kang Tae-Mu and Shin Ha-Ri from Business Proposal , or show off your skills on the ice-skating rink like Han Seo-Jun and Im Ju-Kyung from True Beauty . Cross over a bridge to the outdoor Magic Island from the indoor World Adventure area to arrive at the most picturesque spot overlooking the Lotte World Castle for your Instagram photo op. Book tickets here.   Insider tip: Lotte World has a super fun place called the Star Avenue, which features life-size hand impressions of all your fav K-pop and K-drama stars where you can almost “hold” them. Be ready to experience interactive videos on large digital screens, no matter which side you look at and shop never-seen-before fan merchandise here. This is what paradise looks like for a K-pop fan. Book tickets here.

Itaewon

While Itaewon has always been one of the most cosmopolitan and lit places in Seoul for decades, this place gained the top spot on bucket lists after it was featured in the Park Seo-Joon series Itaewon Class, which became a global hit on Netflix. Itaewon is a smorgasbord of streets bustling with hip and exciting beer bars, BBQ restaurants, Indie stores, quaint boutiques, clubs, and more. Once shunned by locals as a seedy red-light district, today a trip to Seoul is incomplete without a pub crawl in Itaewon. If you are looking for a place to stay in Itaewon, check out the G Guest House, with its bold and striking yet modest architecture. This is where Cho Yi Seo slaps the District Head’s wife in the K-drama Itaewon Class . Insider tip: While walking along Noksapyeong Bridge, where Park Seo-Joon, the male protagonist of the K-drama Itaewon Class often took a walk, don’t be surprised if you are halted by a large group of punk dancers blocking the road with their quick moves. It’s a common scene here, especially after dark on weekends.

The Han River

Fireworks at the Han River

Fireworks at the Han River

Remember the cute picnic date between Do Bong-Soon and Ahn Min-Hyuk in Strong Women Do Bong Soon ? Or the scene from Lie to Me where Yoon Eun-Hye and Kang Ji-Hwan are seen cruising along the river in adorable duck boats? You can relive these exact experiences and much more at the Han River. This place offers a gamut of activities. Get ready for water sports such as kayaking and flyboarding. Feel free to take a dip or catch largemouth bass fish in the freshwater river. Look out for the Banpo Bridge, where 200 lights illuminate a 570m-long fountain sending out dancing, rainbow-coloured jets of water in the air. Or simply spend a balmy summer night camping under the stars at the Han River. The campsite offers facilities such as tents, 24-hour-shower rooms, BBQ grills and fresh hot ramyeon in disposable foil tins. Fellow campers often serenade each other with in-house live music. Although the Han River physically divides the city, in actuality, it brings the people of Seoul closer. Insider tip: Every October, there is a spectacular firework show hosted on the banks of the Han River during the Seoul International Fireworks Festival, along with music and laser lights.

Yeongjin Beach in Gangneung

Yeongjin Beach

Yeongjin Beach

If you want to follow the footsteps of the Shin-Tak couple from the K-drama Goblin , one of Korea’s most-watched dramas, take notes. The most iconic scene, where Ji Eun-Tak summons Kim Shin for the first time on her birthday, was shot at this beach, at one of the five (now clearly called out using a signboard) rocky piers on a breakwater by the sea. The calm waves and shallow turquoise waters of this pristine white-sand beach make the place worth a day trip from Seoul; the beach is a 2.5-hour drive from the city. Relish the salty air and dip your hands in the crystal clear water to grab a handful of shells to take back home as souvenirs. Insider tip: With an increasingly large flock of people trying to recreate the scene from Goblin that is shot here, many vendors nearby are renting props such as the red scarf and buckwheat flower bouquets seen in the show.

Bukchon Hanok village

Bukchon Hanok village

The easiest and quickest way to travel back to the ostentatious Joseon Dynasty (which ruled Korea from 1392 to 1897) is by visiting the Bukchon Hanok Village. Besides the Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace and Jongmyo Shrine, this place is home to hundreds of hanoks (traditional Korean homes) . The most popular one is Sanggojae, which is featured as Park Gae-In’s house in the 2010 K-drama Personal Taste . Dotted with houses featuring pagoda-style roofs accentuated with slightly uplifting eaves, this 600-year-old urban colony preserves Korean heritage through its cultural centres and museums. Bukchon-Ro 11-Gil, the central street of the village with its red and grey stone-clad walls, will seem familiar. Countless characters from K-dramas like Twelve Nights and She Was Pretty have been seen ambling along this street every now and then. Insider tip: There are hanbok (the conventional attire of Korea) rental outlets in the palace complex offering voluminous and delicate long-sleeved traditional costumes, along with hairstyling services. Dress the part and twirl around as you enjoy an authentic regal escape.

Paradise City Hotel & Resort

A room at Paradise City

A room at Paradise City

Housing the country’s largest casino, a convention centre, an indoor entertainment park, a sprawling duty-free shopping centre and a luxury boutique hotel, the plush Paradise City next to the Incheon International Airport, caters to the hospitality and entertainment needs of urban travellers. Several scenes from the fantasy-romance drama series Hotel Del Luna were shot at  Paradise City , including the Willy Wonka chocolate factory-like amusement park. The Grand Deluxe Pool Villa is also part of this hotel where Lee Gon (Lee Min-ho), stays when he visits the parallel world of the Republic of Korea in the K drama The King: Eternal Monarch . The unusually designed nightclub Chroma, one of Asia’s largest, spreads across four floors and offers a different vibe at each level. It has also staged performances by global artists such as DJ Afrojack and Steve Aoki. Insider tip: Gift yourself a jjimjilbang experience at Cimer, the spa at Paradise City. The bathhouse encapsulating a Korean traditional kiln sauna is lined with hinoki charcoal or Himalayan pink salt crystals and offers paramount relaxation and indulgence. End the day sipping a cocktail at the infinity pool while watching the rosy sunset. Book here.

Myeongdong Shopping Centre

Myeongdong Shopping Centre

The underground Myeongdong shopping centre is a conglomeration of small shops selling eye-catching goods in all shapes and sizes including K-drama memorabilia. If you thought that the world of K-dramas is expansive, then wait till you see the world of K-drama and K-pop merchandise; it is astronomical. Prepare to get hallyu -cinated as you grab the best of K-pop light sticks, season’s greetings, pop sockets, scarves, vinyl records, photobooks, keychains, cushions, pins, fridge magnets, mascot plushies, deco tapes and Lomo cards—the list is never-ending. They even have fan membership kits. If you loved the earrings and hair clips seen on the heroines, you are in for a treat. Shops here have pictures of them as featured on the screen next to each product to help you select. Splurge your heart out, as shopping at Myeongdong is also eligible for immediate tax refunds. Insider tip: Wash off the shopping exhaustion with some bubble tea at The Alley, which is located close to the shopping arcade. The bubble tea here was made popular in the show The King: Eternal Monarch .

BBQ Olive Chicken Café

BBQ Olive Chicken Caf

Visit the BBQ Olive Chicken Café A.K.A the Goblin Korean Fried Chicken Café. This is the restaurant Sunny owned in the K-drama Goblin . This place is known for the best tub of succulent Chimaek, the Korean equivalent of American fried chicken and beer. Chimaek is a regular ritual for young Koreans, as they get together to unwind on a weekday evening after a productive day at work, bonding over more than 11 varieties of fried chicken. This café looks exactly like how it was filmed in the drama, with its eclectic blue door and retro-looking floor tiles. Located in the middle of a bustling city, this three-storey fast food outlet has large glass window panels that allow you to watch the city go by. Insider tip: The BBQ Olive Chicken Café has the infamous black fedora possibly worn by Lee Dong Wook in Goblin ; the restaurant staff sports the uniform worn by Sunny throughout the show.

A still from Crash Landing on You

The fictional remote North Korean village, where the ever-charming Captain Ri from Crash Landing on You resides, is actually Taean. The bucolic village is a three-hour drive away from Seoul. Jin-Bin fans can lwalk through the village and explore Ri Jeong Hyeok’s sage-fenced home and feel the love in the air. After you are done filling a crash-landing-sized hole in your heart, head towards the Haebyeongil , a series of trails stretching nearly 100km through Taean. The trails are divided into seven parts, with day-long hikes running from beach to beach, over hills, crossing bridges and fishing villages. Finally, watch the magnificent sunset behind the Sinduri coastal sand dunes. Insider tip: While planning your trip to this quaint village, keep in mind that the Taean Tulip festival, which is the largest flower festival in Korea, is held every year from mid-April to mid-May. It sees thousands of tulips as well as daffodils and lilies set amongst some world-famous landmark replicas, including a windmill from the Netherlands, an Egyptian pyramid, and the Eiffel Tower, among others.

Itaewon  is the most popular area for nightlife in Seoul, for both locals and foreigners. There’s restaurants, bars, and shops. People are still partying til the early morning on weekdays.

Banpo Hangang Park & Bridge:  This park and bridge are open 24 hours a day. You can rent a bike, have a picnic, jog, and visit the outdoor market with food stalls.

The Best Way to Spend One Day in Seoul

Ultimately, how you spend your 24 hours in Seoul will depend on your interests, but the most popular sites in Seoul are the most visited for a reason!

With limited time, try to visit the sites that most interest you, but also enjoy your one day in Seoul without treating it like a checklist (like I often do).

Take your time and enjoy, and I hope you’ll be able to visit Seoul again!

22 Places to Visit if You’re a BTS Fan

BTS Seoul Tour

Welcome to BTS Seoul Tour!

We won’t be talking about concerts here, but if you are planning to go to Seoul soon , or already are in the city, and are fans of BTS, this list will definitely peak your interest.

BTS left an impressive mark in the world’s music industry, and their discography is LONG.

It is impossible in this day and age not to have heard about them!

We tried to compile a list of the best places to visit in Seoul for any BTS fan, to have you walk in their footsteps, feel the hustle of Seoul, create memories for yourself and take memorable pictures to bring back home.

This list is not exhaustive and the group have certainly visited a lot more places, so be sure to let us know in the comments if we should add more, and tag us on Instagram with your own pictures!

NOTE | The famous abandoned swimming pool from The most beautiful moment in life : prologue (HYYH) will not be part of the list, as it no longer exists !

Walk in BTS’s Footsteps

Let’s start with 3 iconic places to start your BTS Seoul Tour.

HYBE Entertainment Building

Big Hit Entertainment moved to its new headquarters in the district of Yongsan as it became HYBE Entertainment in March 2021.

HYBE is now the headquarters of multiple labels and spans across all 19 floors of the building.

It is not possible to enter the building and the chances are rare for you to meet your idols here, but it is a place to visit absolutely in your BTS Seoul Tour!

Address | Floor Yangjin Plaza 5F, 5 Hakdong-ro 30-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea

Old Big Hit Entertainment Studio

The Old Big Hit Entertainment Studio has now become a must-visit place for fans of BTS, as this is where it all began.

This building has seen a lot of blood, sweat and tears from the boys, but it produced the massively popular group we know today!

Although the place is not easy to find and will require you to put on your best pair of glasses, once you find it you’ll see how iconic this place still is for the fandom.

The walls are filled with written messages from ARMYs, and in a whole lot of languages. People travel far to see the place!

Address | 10-31 Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea

BTS’ Trainee Days Restaurant – Yoojung Sikdang

Yoojung Sikdang is the best place to get the ‘pre-fame’ BTS feel.

The group would eat at this restaurant very regularly in their pre-debut days, and even mentioned it later in variety shows.

The restaurant is still open today, and is now filled with BTS merchandise. The group’s favourite dishes are still on the menu: Dolsot Bibimbap and Jeju Black Pork.

Address | 14 Dosan-daero 28-gil, Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea

Shooting Locations in Seoul

This list will mix photoshoots and filming places. You might recognise a few!

Laundry Pizza

FROM | BTS Love Yourself: Her E, Version Photoshoot

We’re not the only one writing lists like this one, but the Laundry Pizza is ALWAYS included.

It is an iconic and highly photogenic place to visit, a great place to take your own pictures.

By the way, this is a real restaurant, and you can eat delicious pizzas there!
Address | 810-13 Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea

BTS Seoul Tour - Laundry Pizza

Dongjak Bridge

FROM | Love Yourself trilogy photo teaser with V.

Dongjak Bridge, or Dongjakdaegyo Bridge, must be the most popular bridge in Seoul as a lot of K-dramas were filmed there.

It crosses the Han river and includes a railway in addition to the road.

It is one of the busiest bridges as well, with large numbers of pedestrians using it, so you should probably plan to come early to take nice pictures.

Make sure to always pay attention to the vehicles coming and going, and stay safe.

Address | 386 Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea

Seoul Forest Woodland Playground

FROM | Love Yourself: Answer Photoshoot with Suga.

Unlike the gloomy tunnel in which Suga looks particularly sad and lonely, the area of the park the photoshoot was done is very lively with children running everywhere!

Seoul Forest is a place where people can ride bikes, walk around and bring their children to playgrounds.

Address | 273 Ttukseom-ro, Seongsu-dong 1(il)-na, Seongdong-gu, Seoul

Iryeong station [ 일영역 ]

FROM | Spring Day (MV) – Scenes with V

This abandoned train station became hugely popular overnight, after V shot a few scenes of Spring Day there.

You are allowed to visit the scene and take pictures, but even though the station has been discontinued, you should remain careful when crossing the rails.

Address | Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea

You can see the station as soon as the MV starts:

Dongho Bridge

FROM | I Need You (MV) – Scenes with J-Hope

Here’s another bridge for you to visit!

Just like Dongjak Bridge above, Dongho also combines road and rails to cross the Han river.

As always, be careful of vehicles when taking pictures of the place.

Address | Oksu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, South Korea

Shooting Locations NOT in Seoul

Alright, this is a BTS Seoul Tour but we couldn’t resist and added 4 more shooting locations for you to see!

If you have time leave Seoul for a bit and visit those?

Yongin Daejanggeum Park

FROM | Daechwita [대취타], Suga’s solo video as Agust D.

You probably remember this MV as vividly as me, as the location chosen to film was just magnificent.

It is in fact the largest outdoor film set for historical dramas in South Korea, and has replicas of ancient buildings from the Samguk, Goryeo and Joseon periods.
The most recent K-dramas filmed in this location are:
  • Haechi (2019)
  • Extraordinary You (2019)
  • Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung (2019)
  • My Country (2019)
  • Mr. Queen (2020)

The site has been open to the public since 2011, so you will be able to enter freely and take pictures yourself.

PS – You might also recognise the place from Stray Kids’s MV “ Double Knot (English ver.) “.

Address | 778-1 Yongcheon-ri, Baegam-myeon, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do

Jumunjin Beach Bus Stop

FROM | You Never Walk Alone – Album Cover

The bus stop featuring on the album cover was so popular after the album’s release that the city Gangneung in Gangwon Province decided to build a replica with the sole purpose of being a photo spot for BTS’ fans.

Address | 8-54 Hyangho-ri, Jumunjin-eup, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea

Bomun Tourist Complex

FROM | The most beautiful moment in life pt.1 – Photoshoot

Yep, it’s this one and you can visit this location too!

According to this website “The arboretum is home to 6,000 camellia trees of 500 different species including species that are known to produce the world’s largest and earliest blossoms.”

A beautiful photoshoot was made with Jin in this location.

BTS Seoul Tour | Places to Eat

We’ve seen BTS pre-debut restaurant earlier, but we’ve got more addresses for you to go check out.

Ossu Seiromushi [오쓰 세이로무시]

In 2018 Jin and his eldest brother opened a Japanese restaurant called Ossu Seiromushi .

They serve traditional Japanese dishes and quickly became a very popular place to dine in.

The restaurant is always full so you’ll need to make a reservation beforehand!

Address | 30 Baekjegobun-ro 45-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, South Korea

This cafe is in Busan but if you happen to be in the area you should go and take a look!

Magnate opened in 2019 and is owned by Jimin’s father.

You can drink a cup of coffee and eat delicious pastries, all whilst enjoying the elegant and minimalist interior of the place.

Address | 135 Jinnam-ro, Nam-gu, Busan, South Korea

The Min’s [더민스]

The Min’s is owned by 2AM’s Lee Changmin and you probably already expected to see this one one the list, as it used to be BTS’s favourite cafe.

Unfortunately, the cafe permanently closed recently.

BTS Seoul Tour | More Places to Visit

These places are not filming or shooting locations but still have a link to our favourite group, and are all worth checking out.

Banpo Hangang Park

Banpo Hangang Park  always has been a go-to place for Seoul locals, and for that reason was featured in “BTS’ Life in Seoul”.

“BTS’ Life in Seoul” is a short promotional video of Seoul featuring our boys, aimed at displaying everything you could do in Seoul.

Address | 40 Sinbanpo-ro 11-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, South Korea

See Banpo Hangang Park in the first part of the video :

You read correctly, RM has in fact two forests!

  • Forest 1 was created by fans in celebration of RM’s 25th birthday.
  • Forest 2 was created in celebration of his 26th birthday.

RM has always been an advocate for the preservation of our environment, so these gifts couldn’t have been more spot on.

Addresses: Forest 1 | 65 Hangaram-ro, Jamsil 2(i)-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul Forest 2 | 389 Ichon 2(i)-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul

This location is probably the least popular of the list, just because people don’t know it exists!

If you happen to be in Gwangju, you must visit the “hopeworld” sculpture the city revealed near the end of 2020.

The sculpture, a collaboration between the city of Gwangju and a K-pop Art School, was created in honour of J-Hope.

21,800 messages from fans all around the world were engraved on the sculpture, which is set in a very colourful area, making it a beautiful piece to visit.

Address | 62-3 Chungjang-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju, South Korea

More BTS & Even More K-pop

Hallyu k-star road.

Originally known as the “luxury road of Cheongdam”, the K-Star Road is visited by many Kpop fans all year long and we can easily understand why!

From  Apgujeong Rodeo Station towards Cheongdam intersection there is 1km to walk with GangnamDols everywhere and entertainment companies based in the neighbouring streets.

GangnamDols are sculptures of big bear dolls designed with Kpop groups branding.

There are 17 of them, gotta catch them all!
Address | 407, Apgujeong-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul  Subway station | Apgujeongrodeo

Star Avenue | LOTTE Duty Free

Star Avenue is a must visit for any fan of the Korean entertainment industry.

You may well have seen the group’s handprints everywhere on social media? Well it’s here in LOTTE Star Avenue!

Here’s a quote from their own website :

“LOTTE DUTY FREE will continue to serve as an ambassador of K-CULTURE which takes the lead in promoting Korean culture and revitalising the tourism industry.”

You got it, you’ll get to see LOTS of K-pop and K-drama related content whilst visiting this place!

It is a very touristy place so expect crowds all day.

Address | 240 Olympic-ro, Jamsil 3(sam)-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, South Korea

HYBE Insight Museum in Seoul

Opened in May 2021, the HYBE Museum is full of exclusive content from HYBE’s artists and will allow you to experience music in a very unique and immersive way through technology.

Boasting various exhibitions you will get to see exclusive footage of rehearsals, dance practices but also reward walls and displays dedicated to HYBE’s history.

But don’t worry! There are two other addresses in Gangnam and Hongdae .

BTS Stan Tour: 7 Places In Seoul ARMYs Have To Visit

BTS Stan Tour: 7 Places In Seoul ARMYs Have To Visit

In Korea, K-pop fans sometimes go on what is called a  dukhoo  tour. Basically, it stands for “stan tour.” Fans will identify (public) places that their favorites have been to and plan their entire day dedicated to their favorite stars!

We’re sure that in the long list of ARMY bucket lists, one item that tops the list is visiting Korea. And we’re even more certain that visiting BTS-related places takes up a huge chunk of that list. If you’re nodding your head yes at this, then thankfully, we’ve compiled some of these places into one list so that when you finally get the chance to visit Korea, you’ll be able to find them without much trouble!

Check out seven places in Seoul that are perfect for your very own BTS stan tour:

Yoojung Sikdang

Remember how we couldn’t stop crying when BTS won their first daesang, or when they performed “Born Singer” at the “2017 WINGS Tour Final In Seoul”? Yoojung Sikdang holds a special place in the BTS members’ hearts. It’s one of their regular go-to restaurants after hours of hard practice during the early days of their debut, but it also serves as a reminder of BTS’s humble past for ARMYs.

must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

In an interview, the owner remarked, “I love them like they’re my own children. They’re all so polite and kind.” She added “I truly believe that they’ll be successful. They’re so polite and bright. I really think they’ll be successful. They have to be!” Actual tears running down our faces right now.

must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

Address : 서울특별시 강남구 논현동 8-8 Directions : Get off at Hakdong Station through Exit 7. Keep walking forward for about 10 minutes until you see Fotton Garment to the right across the street. When you see it, turn left to the first street you see and walk up. Take a right immediately, and walk until you see Yoojung Sikdang.

BT21 Line Store + Cafe

The BT21 store and cafe is an obvious destination course for any ARMY, young and old. Although BT21 merchandise can be found in multiple LINE stores around Seoul, the Itaewon flagship store in particular is special since this is where Tata, RJ, Chimmy, Cooky, Mang, Shooky, Koya — and space robot Van — all came to life, drawn by the members themselves.

must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

The second floor holds a display for BT21 clothes, dolls, accessories, and other goods, while the third floor is the LINE Store’s very own cafe. One portion of the third floor is dedicated to all things BT21, so take all the pictures you want and even sit in the seats BTS sat in while they created these adorable characters!

must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

Don’t forget to try out the special BT21 drinks as well. I bought the mango slushy “Chimmy” drink, which also came with a little postcard of Jimin. It was too cute, and refreshingly delicious!

must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

Address : 서울특별시 용산구 이태원로 200 Directions : Get off Itaewon Station through Exit 3. Walk straight until you see the Line Store! The BT21 store is on the second floor, while the cafe is on the third floor.

Abandoned Swimming Pool At SNU

If you’re a HYYH enthusiast like me, you’re going to cry (cue that RM line in “Fake Love”) tears of pure sadness at this next stop, since this is one of the locations from the “HYYH On Stage: Prologue” video. Remember when the boys were enjoying their youth, playing golf, and dancing in an empty weed-infested swimming pool in the video? The abandoned swimming pool at Seoul National University is where they were able to get all those nostalgic shots.

must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

Although many people have added their own creations to the graffiti-covered walls, many of the artwork displayed in the video can still be seen today. The abandoned swimming pool has a rustic, mystical charm to it, as if all time has stopped since the pool was abandoned. It takes some effort to get here, but it is so worth it.

must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

Directions : Get off Seoul National Univ. Station through Exit 3. Walk straight until you see the 5513 bus stop. Ride the 5513 bus until you stop at 유전공학연구소.반도체공동연구소 (the bus stop ID is 21-277). Walk towards the building/parking lot on the right, and find a stairway that leads up a mountain trail. Just walk straight up until you come across the pool building. You should find the stairs to the abandoned swimming pool after a couple of steps in the area.

&gather cafe

Ah, yes, episode 45 of “Run BTS!” — another chaotic episode in which Jin is wearing a bunny suit while the rest of the members are decked out in full barista gear. Which is a rather regular day in the life of Bangtan, to be honest.

must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

ARMYs who’ve watched this episode will know that although it was all fun and games with Jin’s ridiculous costume, the boys went all out in attempting to create their very own cups of various coffees. At &gather cafe, ARMYs will be able to see just where the boys were putting in all their blood, sweat, and tears into perfecting the coffee recipes.

must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

I was able to go when the cafe was a holding an event for Jimin’s birthday and received a coffee cup holder after buying a rosy latte (Jin’s coffee!). The cafe also had a corner dedicated to Jimin.

must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

Address : 용산구 한남동 96-3 Directions : Get off Hannam Station through Exit 1. Walk down the road until you see a GS25 convenience store. At here, turn right, and keep walking until you reach the first stoplight to cross the street. Cross, then keep walking further until you come across the cafe on your left.

Laundry Pizza

Laundry Pizza is where BTS shot their album jacket covers for “Love Youself: Her.” Though it might look like a vintage laundromat, it’s actually a pizza restaurant!

must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

Enjoy a slice of pizza while you check out all the aesthetic props in the restaurant!

must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

Address : 서울 강남구 봉은사로4길 22 Directions : Get off Sinnonhyeon Station through Exit 4 and make a right turn immediately (you should see Next Plastic Surgery Clinic before turning). When you see the CU convenience store, take a left and keep walking until you see Gyoza In Seoul. Take a right there, and keep walking until you come across Laundry Pizza, Double Trouble, or Brotherhood Kitchen, since they’re all in the same building. Laundry Pizza is in the basement floor.

VT Pink House

The VT Pink House is a dessert cafe for the VT cosmetics brand, but it’s plastered with so many photos and stands of BTS that it might as well be a BTS cafe! Located in the heart of Hongdae, the VT Pink House will take up plenty of space in your phone due to the sheer amount of aesthetic photos you can take here while you enjoy a sweet drink.

The cafe recently added an image of BTS to its walls outside, so make sure to take some photos here as well!

Star Gallery at Lotte Department Store

An extremely tourist-y place, but a requirement for your Seoul trip is the Star Gallery at Lotte Department Store. If you’re multifandom, you’re in luck, since you can be surrounded by not only BTS, but also TWICE, Super Junior, and EXO as well!

must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

Getting back to our boys though — once you get to the Star Gallery, you’ll be able to feel as close to them as you can without intruding on their space, via a hand model display! As you can see, V has ridiculously large hands, while Jimin’s hands are just as smol as you’d probably think. Although we may not be able to meet them in person, the hand model display serves as a great way for us to feel closer to our boys.

must visit places in seoul for kpop fans

Address : 서울특별시 중구 을지로 30 Directions : Underground at Euljiro 1-ga Station, head towards Exit 7, but don’t climb up. Instead, head towards the entrance of the Lotte Department Store. Pass by the fast food restaurants and take a left to walk until you spot the escalators. Take the escalators up to the first floor, walk out Exit 4 and you should see the Star Gallery right away!

These are just seven of the countless BTS-related places around Korea. There are even more outside of Seoul, too. I know, we can hardly wait to do a part two to this BTS stan tour.

Which location do you want to visit the most? Let us the know in the comments below!

The best time of day to enjoy it is just before sunset, when the sun sets at the end of the path, throwing shadows over the trees, plants and other nature.

Famous Seoul K-Drama scenes here include the time when Song Joong Ki passes over this walkway in Vincenzo on his way to Yoo Jae Myung’s house and Moo Bin gives Ae Ra a pair of shoes on in Fight For My Way , encouraging her to be like Cinderella and put them on.

While this area includes the Gyeongui Line Forest Park, it’s actually a much larger area that includes lots of narrow streets full of cozy cafes, artsy stores, unique restaurants, and a mix of students and young adults enjoying a slower pace of life.

Walk around the back streets and look out for the murals on the wall, craft markets, and pop-up stalls. Check out Seongmisan-ro 23-gil (성미산로23길) – it has many beautiful decorations you can use as backgrounds for your pictures and was used in The Secret Life of My Secretary .

This pretty footpath is lined with leafy trees and passes through one of Seoul’s most beautiful neighborhoods.

Walk the walls at night to re-enact the scene where Seo Bum Joon tells Choi Ye Bin talk about his troubled past in It’s Beautiful Now . Visit in fall to see lovely autumn leaves, just like Kim Ji Seok and Han Ye Ri did in My Unfamiliar Family .

This area is hidden from the busier main streets, but once you find it, you’ll see why it’s so popular with locals.

Walking around Seoul’s best K-Drama filming locations can be tiring work, so recharge your batteries at Namdo Bunsik in Ikseondong. If you’ve fantasized about visiting the Hotel Del Luna that you saw in the 2019 K-Drama of the same name, then you’re in luck! Kind of. The Hotel Seine in Ikseondong , close to Namdo Bunsik, is a real place, but it’s actually a vintage, hotel-themed cafe.

The front desk you can see in the K-Drama is a counter where you can order your favorite coffee and relax, pretending you’re a guest of the Hotel Del Luna. The Hotel Seine comes with a rooftop lounge which is called the Full Moon Rooftop Lounge, which is ‘Man Wol’ in Korean. Sound familiar? True fans will know.
