Full ACC retrofit kit (adaptive cruise control). This allows your car to come to a complete stop and start again. This kit includes: 1. Crash bar with both short and long-range sensors installed (also has headlight washer assemblies) 2. DXC (brake) module/pump for AWD cars 3. Control module 4. Control stalk 5. Grille piece Removed from a 2008 E61 535xi. This will fit LCI E60 5-series, E61 5-series touring, or E63/4 6-series (will require different DXC module for RWD cars). Installation can be arranged. Coding available. Shipping worldwide possible, it will be cheaper without the crash bar (sensors must be re-riveted, realigned and calibrated in that case) $850USD

Excellent write up!
Thanks gents, the real test will be when someone brave enough (That's you John!) uses the guide to do his own! Should have part two done in a few days.

Part 2 is done. Please be warned, if you stray fro the instructions you do have the potential to brick modules in your car, be careful folks!!!!!!! Sorry the steering angle sensor calibration is a little vague at the end, but it is pretty straight forward. If I figured it out, anyone can! Any questions, please fire away, i will help where i can. If you don't fancy the fit or the coding part, i can fit and code it for you, but you will have to come to me, i'm in north east cambs, post code PE15. The fee for this coding will be 2 packets of hobnobs, or a bottle of red wine, or a donation to the forum!!
Right as mentioned in part two you'll need an OBD lead. If your car is 2007 onwards, you need a d-can lead, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/INPA-Ediabas-...Accessories&hash=item4aa92e2cf8#ht_6139wt_922 . If your can was born before 01/2007 you can use a modified VAGCOM lead for your coding. J1mmy sells these for about £30 all in and they include software. That is a bargain folks! http://babybmw.net/ucp.php?i=pm&mode=compose&u=9681

You should be able to do that with NCS expert mate, but the process is different to the one I have written here, it's more in depth. I'll do some digging and see what I can find.
Slip ring on the bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/bmw-e90-and-1..._CarParts_SM&hash=item33689cc191#ht_500wt_922 for sale. For a coupe or softtop (no rear wiper) with MFSW but without auto wipers.
Hi Rob, I bought that slip ring for my 2008 E82 coupe with mfsw with no auto wipers or rear wash/wipe. I take it I'll need a new cowling for the extra cruise stalk to go through? Edit; just looked through the forum an eqcons has given the part number for the lower shroud of the steering column: 61316950263. Just seeing which d-cann lead will be the best (cheapest...). Cheers, Craig
Hi Guys, I'm new to this forum, to coding and many other things and need your help. Have a 120d without mfsw and want to retrofit it. So started my search here in the Netherlands for a slip ring with cruise control, mfsw buttons and the trim. After some good searching i only find a slip ring with mfsw, the buttons and the trim. Unfortinetly no cruise control, i bought it anyway and installed everything following the DIY that Rob has made. I followed the same coding part, but added 1 option to the VO and that is $249 for mfsw and coded the car, but the msfw still doesn't work. Anyone has an idea? Help would me appreciated!! Greets!
Did you sg_codieren the car after adding the option to the VO in the CAS and the FRM?
Hi Rob, I did. First I added the option to the VO in CAS and FRM and then coded it. I saw my dash lit up as a christmas tree. I'm also going to try a fresh clean installation of NCS and INPA. Thnx!
You will need to recalibrate the steering angle sensor afterwards mate, this should get rid of all the lights! You might want to update the daten files to the latest versions too, if your car has been coded/updated at BMW this could cause issues if you try to use older software.
Strange one thin. Car you see $249 in the options list one you have added it? Which version of NCS are you using? When I added cruise I needed to recalibrate the steering angle sensor to get rid of the lights on the dash. Soed the coding succeed for all modules when you do 'sg_codieren'? I added the option code for MFSW, but have not gotten around to buying the panel I need! Looking at BMW's guide, all you replace is the slip ring then code it. Perhaps there is some more coding to be carried out, possiblt in the IHKA and RAD modules some values need changing. I'll do some digging and get back to you mate.
Hey Rob, First of all i did a clean installation of INPA/NCS/EDIABAS and then retryed the coding, I did again follow your DIY and at the step that I have to add the option $249 (btw i see that i'm using a dollar sign, is this correct?) I already did see it there. I just completed your DIY without the steering angle sensor calibration and it's still not working. I'm using the 3.1.0 version of NCS and cant see the version of the DATEN files, I'm downloading V40 anyway. All the coding went well and I had to set my time afterwards. Thnx!!!

The wiring is at the connector for the slip ring. The new slip ring will just have the necessary wiring the other side to connect it up and pass the signals through. Does the test in INPA work? Find the page for MFSW ad icons should appear on the screen, that go black whenyou press a button. Dollar sign is correct. Did the replacemen slip ring have auto wipers and does your car?
To remove an option code, highlight it in the list and hit 'del' on your keyboard, then write the new FA to CAS and FRM, and code car afterwards. If I can find a set of MFSW buttons I'll try them on mine to see it it works.

Adaptive/Active Cruise Control Retrofit?
- Add to quote
I could have sworn I saw a thread on this with part numbers etc. but for the life of me I've searched and can't find it. Can someone please point me to it? Thx in advance!
Anyone?

Why?! WAY too much money to retrofit an option that is already too expensive.

Last week I became a lucky owner of a G30 530d after owning quite some bmws (e39, e60, e90, f30). Long story short, I picked up an amazing deal with only 2000kms on it that spent pretty much 11 ...
You can find used parts online much cheaper than that in good working condition. On eBay, the FRR (radar) can be had used for around $650-$750 USD. Very rarely do I buy the major parts new for my retrofits. The actual modules and such I will find used, and then whatever I can't find used or things like wiring, etc, I will order from a supplier.

Grille piece
Here are the cheapest prices I found on the bolded parts: ACC Sensor (66316876327): $435. Hydro Unit DSC (34516871115): $1,569. ICM Control Unit (34526879836): $991. That ACC Sensor price is already at a heavy discount, so that's probably the floor price. The DSC and ICM units are the real cost drivers.
As stated there, the sensor alone is around $2500. It seems like it uses the same front bumper ACC sensor as the F3x (and F06, F07, F10, F11, F12, F13, F25 X3, F26 X4, F15 X5 & F16 X6). You are probably looking at considerable costs to retrofit it, which you'll never get back upon resale.

This is a guide to installing Cruise Control (option $540/SA540/S540A depending on where you are) on any E81,E82, E87 or E88. It will also apply to the E90, E91, E92 or E93 although you might need to tweak the coding slightly!
Anything can be done with enough $ and time. However at the end of the day you will find yourself having spent more to retrofit this feature rather than selling the car and just buying one that has it. This retrofit would not be BMW approved and if they find that anything has been "tampered" with in any way they can void your warranty. 2. Reply.
