Silversea Cruises Jobs

Silversea Cruises operates a fleet of nine ultra luxurious cruise vessels that sail worldwide with another all-suite ship scheduled to debut in spring 2022. Two Evolution Class vessels are also set to launch in 2023 and 2024. Royal Caribbean Group is the parent company of Silversea Cruises. They employ officers and crew from around the world.

Facts About Silversea Cruises

Silversea voyages and cruise expeditions sail to over 1,000 destinations and to all seven continents and pride themselves on a one-to-one crew-to-guest ratio. They have all-inclusive pricing which means that all beverages and gratuities are included. Silversea’s passengers are predominantly from North America but their ships do not have children’s facilities or programming.

History of Silversea Cruises

In the early 1990s, the Lefebvre family of Rome, former owners of Sitmar Cruises, organised a unique cruise company in the ultra-luxury segment. Silversea launched its first ship, Silver Cloud in 1994, followed by Silver Wind in 1995, Silver Shadow in 2000, Silver Whisper in 2001, Silver Explorer (formerly Prince Albert II) in 2008, and Silver Spirit in 2009.

In June 2012, Silversea purchased the Ecuadorian company Canodros S.A., along with it their expedition ship, Galapagos Explorer II. After a major refurbishment, the ship was renamed, Silver Galapagos, and joined the current fleet of ships in September 2013. In January 2021, it was reported that the Silver Galapagos was sold.

In 2017 Silversea debuted the Silver Muse and in 2018, Royal Caribbean purchased a majority interest in Silversea Cruises. In 2020 they acquired the remaining shares.

Also in 2020, Silversea Cruises introduced Silver Origin and Silver Moon. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, Silver Moon did not see passengers until summer of 2021. In spring 2022, Silver Dawn will debut. Then in 2023 and 2024, a new class of ship, Evolution Class will be introduced.

• All crew members must have an original and valid Silversea medical certificate as well as laboratory results and yellow fever vaccination.
• Security Awareness Certification and any other STCW/Safety certificates.
• Evidence of required qualifications.
• First time employees will need to complete a criminal background check.

How long will I spend on board?

Our contracts range anywhere from 3 to 8 months depending on the position.

What languages are required to work onboard?

Excellent fluent verbal and written English skills are essential for every position. English is the working and safety language onboard Silversea vessels. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Additional languages are considered beneficial, roles requiring specific additional language skills will state this in the job description.

Do Silversea hire couples?

Silversea Cruises welcome couples onboard, however, each applicant will be assessed individually based on his/her qualifications/experience. Whilst every effort is made to accommodate couples the operational needs of the Company will always take priority.

Will I need to share a cabin?

The majority of our crew share a cabin, this is dependent on your position and can be confirmed during the interview process.

How much time will I get off?

Our crew are contracted to work a minimum of 10 hours per day, 7 days per week for the duration of their contract. However, there is always flexibility with regards to breaks and time off depending on our onboard operational needs. Time for rest, visiting the ports and taking part in crew events is encouraged.

What ship would I go to?

Once you have been offered a position with Silversea Cruises you will be assigned a ship. Ship assignments are allocated based on the needs of the business.
