What you'll learn
- Combine theory and practice using state-of-the-art facilities at Mohawk’s new Centre for Aviation Technology at the Hamilton International Airport, opened February 2021. Virtual tour of facility

- You will inspect a variety of aircraft including small planes, heavy jets and helicopters.
- Become familiar with the rules and regulation that guide the aviation industry.
- Repair turbine and piston engines. Troubleshoot aircraft systems using the Boeing 737 NG virtual maintenance trainer.
- This Transport Canada approved program provides theory and hands-on training to prepare students for certification by Transport Canada, as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer AME-M. 18 months credit towards the 48 months practical work experience required for certification.

Domestic and International student admission requirements
- Grade 12 English, C or U or equivalent
- Grade 12 Mathematics, MAP4C ≥ 60%; or MCT4C; or any U or equivalent
Language Requirements for Applicants with English as a Second Language
- Successful completion of the GAS-English for Academic Purposes (478 or 278) program
- TOEFL minimum score of 560 (83 Internet based)
- or IELTS Academic minimum score of 6.5 overall with no band less than 6.0

Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English.

Students meeting the minimum CARS 566 ATO standards listed below will receive a certificate which recognizes Transport Canada approval of the program and exemption from writing Transport Canada Technical exams, plus 18 weeks of equivalent work experience:
- Minimum grade of 70% in each course
- Successful completion of all practical projects required
- 95% attendance hours required for accreditation
Graduates may apply for advanced entry into second year of the Aviation Technician - Aircraft Structures program , with successful completion of the Structures NDE Math Course.

Required Student Attendance
Student attendance in the Aviation Technician - Aircraft Maintenance Diploma program will be documented by the applicable instructor in 1/4 hour increments. Student summary attendance records will be maintained for not less than five (5) years.
Students missing more than 5% of any major subject area will not qualify for a certificate with a TC approval number.

Students may be required to travel between Mohawk College's Fennell Campus and the Centre for Aviation Technology at the Hamilton International Airport.
Access to Student Information
Consent to release student information.
Students enrolled in an aviation program will be requested to sign a release form at program entry to allow auditing agencies (CAMC or Transport Canada) to access their academic records during the performance of an audit.
Non-Consent
Students who do not consent to the release of information will have their student information filed separately. Should auditors require access to this information the college will ensure all information which may permit identification of the student is blacked out.
Accreditation
A minimum grade of 70% in each course to meet the ATO standards for accreditation. Must successfully complete all practical projects and maintain 95% attendance hours to achieve accreditation.

If you want to get a feel for the energy on campus, there’s no better time to visit than Open House. This is an open-door event where anyone can learn more about Mohawk College or explore our campuses freely. Informational and engaging activities are set up throughout the campuses to help you discover what Mohawk College has to offer, as well as stations for parents and students to learn about student support, program information, and how to apply.
This fall, join thousands of other potential students as Mohawk College opens the campus to our community with games, prizes, and opportunities to talk with faculty and staff to learn everything that Mohawk College and your program has to offer you.
Crystal, a student in the Avionics Maintenance program, visited Open House and was impressed by what she saw.
“It was such an amazing experience. The facilities are amazing, the aircrafts and the engine displays at the hangar were the main attraction,” said Crystal. “I’m sure anyone who saw it would be impressed and would love to go in an aviation program where there are so many things you could play with and learn from. It was a lot of fun!”

From the Kursk railway station (Kurskaya and Chkalovskaya stations) in Moscow, trains leave for the Balashikha station (41 minutes).

The center of Balashikha is 6 km from the Moscow ring road. Gorkovskoe highway M7, Shchelkovskoe highway A103 and Nosovikhinskoe highway pass through the city.

There are 16 city bus routes and fixed-route taxis in Balashikha. Suburban routes connect Balashikha with the nearest metro stations and with the cities of Zheleznodorozhny and Reutov. Transit suburban routes follow from Moscow to settlements in neighboring districts of the Moscow region.
