Frontier Airlines is a growing ultra-low-cost carrier in the U.S. As such, it can be a cost-effective airline for families that don’t require additional amenities such as advanced seat selection or checked baggage allowances. Low-cost carriers aren’t for everyone, so knowing what you can expect when flying this type of airline is important, especially with kids in tow.

Here’s what you can expect when you fly Frontier Airlines with kids.

Frontier Airlines flies to and from 73 domestic destinations and over a dozen international destinations in 10 countries . The airlines’ international destinations include Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ); San José, Costa Rica (SJO); Cancún, Mexico (CUN); and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ).

According to its website, some of the airline’s most popular routes include Atlanta (ATL), Cincinnati (CVG), and Denver (DEN) to Las Vegas (LAS), and Denver, Philadelphia (PHL), and Trenton (TTN) to Orlando (MCO). Frontier Airlines’ main airport hub is Denver .

Frontier also partners with ultra-low-cost Mexican airline Volaris, which operates flights through Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, and the U.S.

Frontier Miles Program

Joining the Frontier Miles program is free.

As a member, you can earn 10x miles per dollar spent on Frontier purchases. You can also earn miles through Frontier’s travel partners, such as Telefora and Dollar Car Rental, and by spending on the Frontier Airlines World Mastercard ® . Miles can be redeemed for award flights (starting at 10,000 miles one-way).

Elite Status Points are accrued at the same 10 points per dollar rate through qualifying purchases on the Frontier Airlines World card and other eligible purchases and count towards elite status.

Elite Status Points accrue annually and give members status for the remainder of the year in which status is earned and the following year. Frontier Airlines has 4 elite status levels: Elite Silver, Elite Gold, Elite Platinum, and Elite Diamond.

• Silver : Earned after 10,000 miles; 12x earnings multiplier
• Gold : Earned after 20,000 miles; 14x earnings multiplier
• Platinum : Earned after 50,000 miles; 16x earnings multiplier
• Diamond : Earned after 100,000 miles; 20x earnings multiplier

Some Frontier Miles status perks apply to everyone in your booking. For example, Elite Silver status members get Zone 2 priority boarding for everyone in the booking. Those on the same booking with an Elite Diamond status member also get a second checked bag free.

Frontier allows “families” to pool their miles together to redeem free flights even faster. Your family can be composed of family members, friends, etc.; you do not have to share an address. However, 1 person in the family has to serve as the head of the family, and only those with Elite Silver status or a Frontier Airlines World card are eligible. The head controls how and when the miles are spent.

You can have up to 8 people in the family; no minimum or maximum number of miles is required to participate.

While not an elite status program, Frontier Airlines’ Discount Den is a membership program that offers reduced airline rates and other perks . A perk that can be incredibly valuable to families is that kids fly free on select dates and flights. If your plans are flexible, you can use this option often.

Discount Den is $99.99 for the first year and $59.99 annually after that . Members can look forward to the following benefits:

• Lowest fares guaranteed
• Kids Fly Free
• Exclusive deals, including promotions, only available to Discount Den members
• You can book Discount Den fares for up to 9 people on the same reservation

If you travel frequently to and from destinations serviced by Frontier Airlines, Discount Den could come in handy.

Frontier’s GoWild! All-You-Can Fly passes let you book unlimited domestic and international flights as long as your pass is valid. The pass can be a monthly subscription or an annual pass .

Bookings are not confirmed until the day before departure for domestic travel, starting 10 days before international departures. Keep in mind that the flights aren’t entirely free. You’ll still be responsible for at least $0.01 for the airfare, plus applicable taxes and fees . The pass does not include any add-ons like seat selection or baggage, but you can collect miles when flying with a GoWild! pass.

A monthly GoWild! pass is valid for 30 days after purchase and currently costs a $99 enrollment fee. After that, it will renew monthly for $149 per month. Annual GoWild! passes for 2024 to 2025 are $599 per year .

Frontier Airlines Discount Den and GoWild! All-You-Can-Fly passes allow travelers to pay less for airfare even though they are still responsible for applicable taxes and fees. The perks of each vary slightly, but neither saves money on the add-ons that can add hundreds of dollars to the price of a ticket.

Frontier Airlines does not have its own airport lounges. However, you can still utilize a Priority Pass membership , a perk of several credit cards , to get airport lounge access no matter which airline you’re flying with.

Flights on Frontier Airlines can be booked directly on FlyFrontier.com . When searching for flights, you can add a lap infant to a booking and search for flights you can redeem with miles.

The results page will show standard, Discount Den, and GoWild! pass rates for all flights, even if you aren’t logged into your account .

Flying With Kids on Frontier Airlines

Frontier Airlines is an ultra-low-cost carrier, and, as such, the final cost of an airline ticket could be significantly greater than what you thought it would be. For example, you’ll be required to pay for a carry-on and your checked bag when selecting your seat. This can be very inconvenient for a family traveling with multiple people. However, there are a couple of ways to bring the cost down.

In addition to Discount Den members being able to take advantage of Kids Fly Free fares, you can also bundle amenities to save on costs. The Works Bundle includes a carry-on bag, a checked bag, seat selection, allows you to board first, and more. The Perks Bundle includes a carry-on bag, checked bag, and seat selection. For reference, seats start at $11 per person per one-way flight, and checked bag prices depend on the flight. Seats could cost much more than that per person per one-way flight. A checked bag could cost $49 if you pay during booking, but it will be $58 to add before check-in and up to $99 at the boarding gate .

If your family intends to fly Frontier Airlines often, having a Discount Den membership or a GoWild! pass makes sense.

You can add a lap child to your reservation when booking online. You can have 1 lap child per 1 adult . The first and last name, gender, and birth date of the infant can be added at the same time you add your own information. Like other airlines, a lap child must be younger than 2 years old and can fly for free on the lap of an accompanying adult.

While adding a lap infant to your reservation is free when booking online, you may have to pay to add your child if you do so later. Frontier charges at least $35 to chat with an agent during booking .

Frontier has 6 boarding zones , starting with those passengers with special needs. The next zone, Board First, is reserved for those who purchase a carry-on + Board First combo and Elite Platinum and Elite Diamond status members.

Zone 1 is for all Elite members, followed by what the airline calls Courtesy Boarding . This is where families with small children under 3 years old and any passengers requiring additional time can board.

The remaining zones are Zone 2, 3, and 4. Zone 2 Priority Boarding can be purchased ahead of time.

Frontier Airlines charges for everything, even $5 to check in for your flight on their website vs. their mobile app. If you elect not to bundle your add-ons, at least add everything at the time of booking before the prices increase even further.

Frontier Airlines does not have an unaccompanied minors program . The airline discontinued the program in 2018. Travelers 15 years old and older can travel by themselves, but travelers younger than 15 must travel with an accompanying adult.

Frontier Airlines, thankfully, has a seating policy for families similar to that of other U.S. airlines. When 1 or more passengers on the same reservation is 13 years old or younger, they will be seated at least in an adjacent seat from the accompanying adult . This comes at no additional cost as long as the following conditions are met:

• The child and accompanying adult must be on the same reservation.
• Adjacent seats must be available when the booking is made.
• The adult may choose seats for everyone in the reservation or skip seats for the entire reservation. Once seats are assigned, no changes can be made.
• It’s physically possible to honor the adjacent seat guarantee based on the airplane’s seat layout.

Frontier sells snacks and drinks both as bundles or individually . Each bundle conveniently comes with 2 drinks, so you could theoretically share with someone else in your party. Both nonalcoholic and alcoholic drinks can be found in the bundles.

Nonalcoholic drink options include sodas, water, coffee, and tea. Spirits, wine, cocktails, and beers are also available.

Snack options for purchase include Peanut M&M’s, Takis, Chex Mix, and Cup of Noodles .

As you can imagine, Frontier’s onboard amenities are few and far between. Even though snacks and drinks aren’t complimentary, it’s great that you can purchase those items once you’re on board.

For kids, flight attendants have collectible trading cards . Card images include Griz the Bear, Otto the Owl, or Flo the Flamingo.

Frontier Airlines does not have inflight Wi-Fi , seatback entertainment, or power outlets on its airplanes. However, you can download and print Frontier activity pages for kids before you board . The activities include a route map and Frontier tail to color. You can even recognize your child for their excellent travel skills with a free Frontier flight certificate !

A lack of inflight entertainment doesn’t mean that a flight will be without anything to do. It just lets parents know they will need to plan ahead with activities and pre-downloaded shows and movies on their personal devices.

The Frontier Airlines World card is the only credit card offered by Frontier Airlines. The card has a mild annual fee and a welcome bonus offer typically available after meeting a minimum spending requirement .

Cardholders earn 5x miles on eligible purchases made at FlyFrontier.com, including flights, 3x miles at restaurants, and 1x miles on all other purchases. Every dollar spent on the Frontier Airlines World card gets you 1 point closer to elite status.

Additional benefits include priority Zone 2 boarding and waiving the award redemption fee when you use your Frontier Airlines World card to pay the taxes and fees on an award ticket. The card also gives you access to your FICO credit score and has no foreign transaction fees .

On the surface, Frontier Airlines seems like a great option for families to save money on air travel. But you’ll soon find that the airline charges for everything imaginable, from seat assignments to checking in on its website.

If you've booked — or are considering booking — a trip on Frontier, you may be wondering what's included and how this trip might be different from previous trips you've taken with other airlines. This guide aims to answer all of your questions about flying Frontier.

What fares does Frontier offer?

Frontier offers standard fares and Discount Den fares. The services that come with these fares are the same, but Discount Den fares can only be bought once you've joined Frontier's Discount Den and paid the $59.99 annual fee.

What's Frontier's Discount Den and should I join?

Frontier's Discount Den provides access to discounted fares, which are usually $10-32 less than standard fares. As a Discount Den member, you can purchase Discount Den fares for up to six passengers on your booking. And, on valid Kids Fly Free flights , one kid under 15 can fly for free for every adult Discount Den fare purchased. So, if you fly Frontier frequently, especially as a family or group of friends traveling on the same reservation, it might make sense to pay the $59.99 annual fee to join Discount Den.

Can I check a bag?

Yes, but it will cost you. Checked bags no larger than 62 linear inches and no heavier than 50 pounds can be checked for standard rates. Baggage that goes over these limits will be charged an additional $75 for exceeding weight and an additional $75 for exceeding linear inch limits.

Standard rates are charged each way and vary based on route and when you purchase. It's least expensive to purchase checked bags during booking using Frontier's website or mobile app. The next least expensive option is to purchase a checked bag before check-in using Frontier's website or mobile app, while the most expensive option is to purchase a checked bag at the boarding gate. You can check the baggage prices for your exact flight on Frontier's website .

Can I bring a carry-on bag?

Yes, but it will cost you. The only carry-on that is included in all fares is one personal item no larger than 14 inches by 18 inches by eight inches that must fit under the seat in front of you.

You can pay to bring a carry-on bag that is no larger than 24 inches by 16 inches by ten inches and no heavier than 35 pounds. Purchasing a full-size carry-on bag will get you Zone 1 boarding.

However, the cost to bring a full-size carry-on bag varies based on route and when you purchase. It's least expensive to purchase a full-sized carry-on during booking using Frontier's website or mobile app, while the most expensive option is to purchase a full-sized carry-on at the boarding gate. You can check the baggage prices for your exact flight on Frontier's website .

Can I select a seat?

Yes, but it will cost you, and the cost is per flight segment.

There are two types of seats: standard with 28-31 inch pitch and stretch with 5-7 more inches of legroom. The cost to select a seat for a particular flight is based on (1) the type of seat and (2) when you purchase the seat selection.

Seat costs are as follows:

• On Frontier's website either during booking or more than 24 hours before departure:
• Standard: from $5
• Stretch: from $15
• During web check-in:
• Standard: from $7
• Stretch: from $18
• Through Frontier's call center, at an airport ticket counter or at a self-service kiosk :
• Standard: from $16
• Stretch: from $56

If you don't pay to select a seat, you'll be randomly assigned a seat at check-in. Frontier's website says the airline will try to seat everyone on the same reservation together, but that sitting together isn't guaranteed unless you purchase seats together during booking.

Should I purchase a bundle?

Frontier offers two bundles during booking that include some of the chargeable items discussed above. Prices for these bundles vary significantly. But, for an example, on a round-trip booking for one passenger from Atlanta to Denver with a direct flight leaving in about a month, the Perks bundle costs $130 round-trip and the Works bundle costs $166 round-trip.

The Perks bundle includes:

• One carry-on bag no larger than 24 inches by 16 inches by 10 inches
• One checked bag no larger than 62 linear inches
• Seat reservation for any available seat, including stretch seating
• Zone 1 boarding

The more expensive Works bundle includes:

• Everything from the Perks bundle
• Change your flight without change fees, but subject to the difference in ticket and option prices
• Get your flight refunded with no cancellation fees

Decide which of the services included in the bundle you would purchase separately to determine whether to purchase the bundle. In most cases, it will be cheaper to forgo the bundle and simply purchase the services you need.

When can I board?

If you have elite status with Frontier, you've purchased a carry-on or you've purchased the WORKS bundle, you'll board in Zone 1. If you're traveling as a family with children under three, you'll board immediately after Zone 1. Otherwise, you'll board during the remainder of the boarding process.

Can I change my flight?

Yes, but it might cost you. If you purchased the WORKS bundle or want to change your flight 60 days or more before departure, you can apply the value of your purchase to a new ticket without any penalty. You'll just need to pay the difference in fare and/or options.

Otherwise, if you want to change your flight 59 to 14 days before your departure, you'll need to pay a non-refundable change fee of $79 per passenger ($49 per passenger if your tickets were purchased before Sept. 13, 2019) plus any difference in fare and/or options. And, if you want to change your flight within 14 days of your departure -- including same-day flight changes -- you'll need to pay a non-refundable change fee of $119 per passenger plus any difference in fare and/or options.

In either case, if the new fare and/or options cost less than your original purchase, you won't get a refund or further opportunity to use this value.

What happens if I need to cancel my ticket?

If you purchased the Works bundle, you can choose to:

• Retain the value of your purchase for use within one year of the transaction date or
• Complete the Online Refund Form to have the full value returned to your purchasing card

If you cancel your flight within 24 hours of purchase, you can get a full refund with no cancellation fee as long as the ticket wasn't purchased within seven days of travel. If you cancel a ticket that was purchased within seven days of travel, the value will be held as a credit and you'll need to pay a $119 fee per passenger to use this value toward another ticket.

If you didn't purchase the Works bundle and didn't cancel within 24 hours of purchase, your booking will keep its value for 90 days as a travel credit. This travel credit can be used toward the purchase of future travel, but you'll need to pay a fee of $79 ($49 for tickets purchased before Sept. 13, 2019) per passenger if you cancel 59 to 14 days before departure or a fee of $119 per passenger if you cancel within 14 days of departure. There's no fee if you cancel 60 days or more before departure.

Tickets must be canceled before the flight's departure to retain any value.

Can I earn miles?

Yes, you'll earn one Frontier Mile per mile flown. TPG's latest valuation pegs the value of Frontier miles at 1.1 cents each. Earned miles are subject to expiration if the account does not have accrual activity at least once every 180 days or six months.

Does having elite status help?

Yes. The Frontier Miles program has three levels: Elite 20k, Elite 50k and Elite 100k. Each level is reached once a particular number of Status Qualifying Miles or Segments are accrued within a calendar year. Status Qualifying Miles can be earned via flying (one mile per mile flown) or spending on the Frontier Airlines World Mastercard (one mile per dollar spent). Note that Status Qualifying Miles aren't the same as redeemable miles.

The Elite 20k level, obtained with 20,000 Status Qualifying Miles or 25 Segments, provides the following benefits for the elite member that can make flying Frontier more affordable and more comfortable:

• Free carry-on bag
• Unlock family pooling where you can combine Frontier Miles with up to eight family members and friends to make using miles easy
• Free advanced standard seat assignment
• Upgrade to stretch seating for free if available during check-in, at the ticket counter or at the gate
• Priority boarding
• Award fees are waived when booking an award flight
• Travel fees are waived including call center reservation fee, same-day confirmed fee and same-day standby fee
• Use miles to redeem last seat available award tickets for any traveler on the elite member's booking

The Elite 50k level, obtained with 50,000 Status Qualifying Miles or 50 Segments, provides the following benefits for the elite member:

• Unlock family pooling where you can combine Frontier Miles with up to eight family members and friends to make using miles
• Free advanced standard or stretch seat assignment for the member and up to eight companions traveling on the member's booking
• Receive 25% additional redeemable mileage bonus on all eligible Frontier flights
• 50% discount on Discount Den membership, meaning an annual membership would cost $29.99

The Elite 100k level, obtained with 100,000 Status Qualifying Miles or 100 Segments, provides the following benefits:

• Complimentary the Works bundle for up to eight travel companions on the elite member's booking
• Receive 50% additional redeemable mileage bonus on all eligible Frontier flights
• Complimentary Discount Den membership

Does having a cobranded credit card help?

Not really, although the Frontier Airlines World Mastercard does get you Zone 2 boarding and the opportunity to earn elite status by spending on the card.

The Frontier Airlines World Mastercard has the following main benefits and a $79 annual fee:

• Eligible for family mileage pooling
• Five redeemable miles for every dollar spent on Frontier purchases, three miles for every dollar spent at restaurants and one mile for every dollar spent anywhere else
• Spend toward elite status by earning one Qualifying Mile with every $1 spent on purchases or by flying Frontier
• Earn a $100 flight voucher after every account anniversary with eligible purchases
• Keep miles from expiring by making at least one purchase every six months

The card won't make sense for most travelers, but it is a card that Loyalty and Engagement Editor Richard Kerr said he would strongly consider for flexible family travel .

What credit card should I use to book my flight?

When booking travel on a low-cost carrier like Frontier, you'll likely want to use a credit card that provides travel protections as well as a high rate of return on airfare purchases . Here are four cards that offer a good combination of protection and earning when used to book eligible flights:

• The Platinum Card® from American Express : Five Amex Membership Rewards points per dollar on flights purchased directly from the airline or at Amex Travel, for a 10% return based on TPG's valuations (see the full card review )

Should I fly Frontier?

Frontier Airlines became more family-friendly in 2018 and flies to many destinations . And, with fares as low as $15 during flash sales , Frontier can provide an affordable way to fly. But the extras can add up if you aren't careful , so be sure to consider these costs when comparing pricing between airlines.

If you've already booked a Frontier flight, plan to pack as compactly as possible and book any add-ons that you need now to minimize costs.

Why Frontier Airlines Elite Status Is Great for Families

Airline elite status is commonly referred to as a “hamster wheel” because, once you're on it, it can be tough to get off. If you have elite status with a particular airline, then you start wanting to only fly on that airline. You start getting upgrades and better service, which makes you more loyal to your airline (even if routing, price and other circumstances might make flying a different airline more convenient).

If you get to the end of the year and you haven't yet qualified for status for next year, you might even start spending extra money to requalify that you wouldn't have otherwise spent.

A good rule of thumb is that most airline elite status is only “worth it” if you fly enough to earn the status organically. If you have trouble requalifying, then it may not be worth the extra time and money, unless you are expecting a drastic change to your travel plans or frequency in the coming year.

But in my opinion, elite status with Frontier Airlines offers something different — especially if you're traveling as a family. Here's why I pursued elite status with Frontier for my family and why it might be right for you, too.

Frontier Airlines elite status is different

The “big three” U.S. legacy carriers — American, Delta and United — all have very similar elite programs. They have all moved to a model where:

Redeemable miles are paid out based on the cost of your fare, NOT the amount of flown miles on the ticket.

Many of the status levels require you to meet a certain amount of spending in addition to mileage requirements.

These airlines have decided that they want to incentivize spending. That is fine for the business traveler who might often travel on a costly ticket at the last minute (that their company pays for), but isn’t great for families and others who are looking to use miles or otherwise keep costs down.

Frontier’s frequent flyer program has neither of those characteristics. You'll earn 1 mile per mile flown, and there are no revenue requirements either.

And if you have the Frontier Airlines World Mastercard® , you can actually earn 1 elite qualifying mile for every dollar spent on the card.

The three levels of Frontier elite status

Frontier Airlines has three different elite status tiers, each with its own perks:

Instead of naming the elite levels after precious metals, Frontier has kept it simple. Each level is named for the number of qualifying miles required: Either 20,000, 50,000 or 100,000 miles.

Once you earn 20,000 miles, you have access to some of Frontier’s most exclusive benefits. Status can also be achieved by segments flown: Elite 20K requires flying 25 segments, Elite 50K requires 50 and Elite 100K requires 100 segments.

How I earned top-tier status

A few years ago, I got an email from Frontier Airlines offering a status challenge. I already had Elite 20K status at the time, and the email said I could earn a higher status with only two round-trip flights.

We already had one family trip booked on Frontier, so I only needed one additional flight. Since Frontier offers Kids Fly Free on select flights, I could even bring my daughter with me on this "mini mileage run." Out of pocket, our overnight flight cost us less than $73.

We used a Hyatt free night certificate to stay at the Hyatt Regency Orlando, so there was no out-of-pocket cost for our hotel.

In my experience, the added savings from being an Elite 100K member more than outweighed the $72.95 we spent on this mileage run. We were able to get a Discount Den membership for free (a $59.99 value) as well as free seat selection, carry-on and checked bags for several flights throughout the year.

Frontier Airlines Becomes Latest Airline to Ensure Families Fly Together — What to Know

Frontier Airlines will automatically seat children next to a parent, becoming the latest airline to ensure families fly together.

The carrier announced Tuesday that its system will seat children under 14 years old with at least one parent or guardian. The seats will be automatically issued based on the family members’ age before check-in opens.

“We recognize the importance of seating children next to an adult with whom they are traveling,” Daniel Shurz, the senior vice president, commercial at Frontier Airlines, said in a statement . “Since last October, we have been doubling down on our efforts and further enhancing our system for ensuring a parent is seated with any children under the age of 14 in their family group. The system is working well and we are receiving positive feedback.”

Frontier is a low-cost airline and typically charges for extras like baggage and seat selection. The airline said customers will still have the option to choose their own seats for a fee.

The new family seating policy comes a day after United Airlines updated its own family seating approach , introducing a dynamic seat map that finds available adjacent seats at the time of booking to ensure children under 12 can sit next to an adult in their party for free.

Over the summer, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) called on U.S. airlines to stop charging families to sit together on flights.

Each airline has its own family seating policy. Delta Air Lines, for example, offers its own version of a dynamic seat map that blocks off certain rows in the main cabin so only groups of three or more people traveling together can book them. And in December, Southwest said it will start testing a new pilot program that will allow families with children to pre-board the plane first.

For its part, Breeze Airways touted its policy of always allowing adults traveling with children up to 12 years old to select seats for free in the airline’s designated “family section.”

Airlines update, highlight their family seating policies amid White House push

As the Biden administration pledges to crack down on airlines charging families to sit together, many carriers are updating their policies to make it easier for guardians to sit with their kids.

United Airlines announced tech upgrades on Monday that would automatically assign families adjacent seats, as well as a new more flexible policy to allow families that were separated to change flights. 

Frontier Airlines followed suit on Tuesday, saying it was changing how it assigned seats to help families stick together.

Other airlines, including Breeze and Southwest, have highlighted existing policies and practices that were in place to ensure kids weren't sitting alone.

Frontier has been working to update how it assigns seats to families with kids under the age of 14, to ensure that young travelers are always sitting with at least one parent.

According to Frontier, the airline's seating system automatically assigns adjacent seats for children and at least one guardian in their group at no extra charge.

The airline typically charges for seat selection, but families have the option of paying to sit together without relying on the free automatic assignments. 

Members of Frontier's Discount Den can also take advantage of "kids fly free" promotions on certain flights when they are traveling with someone 14 years old or younger.

What Breeze and Southwest were already doing

Breeze Airways pointed out that it has always allowed families to sit together for free.

Although the airline typically charges for seat assignments on its cheapest tickets, the fee is waived for family seat selection.

Southwest Airlines, famous for its open seating, board-by-number policy, allows families with children six years old or younger to board early, after the A group. That increases their chances of being able to sit together onboard, according to the airline.

Can I book international flights using GoWild! Pass?

Yes, international flights can be booked using the GoWild! Pass starting 10 days before flight departure. Passholders are responsible for complying with all international travel and immigration requirements including, but not limited to, providing evidence of confirmed return or onward travel where applicable. Passengers under age 18 traveling without both parents may need additional documentation to travel across international borders, depending on the country's requirements. Frontier does not allow children under the age of 15 years old to travel unaccompanied, see below for more details. Codeshare travel is not available using the GoWild! Pass. Please see below for more details on passholder responsibilities for taxes, fees, and charges applicable at the time of booking.

How much do taxes, fees, and charges cost per flight?

In addition to a fare of $0.01 for each segment booked, government and airport imposed taxes, fees and charges will apply as in effect at the time of booking and are the responsibility of the passholder. An additional carrier interface charge will not apply to GoWild! Pass tickets at the time of booking. Current government and airport taxes, fees and charges start at approximately $14.90 per person, per flight for domestic travel. Current government and airport taxes, fees and charges vary widely for international travel, and can be in excess of $100 per person, per flight.

Can I book a round-trip flight using the GoWild! Pass?

Flights can be booked and confirmed the day before flight departure for domestic travel and starting 10 days before flight departure for international travel. For return travel beyond the window, you will need to search and book the day before the return flight’s departure for domestic travel or starting 10 days before the return flight’s departure for international travel.

Can I use my GoWild! Pass to book connecting flights?

Yes, connecting itineraries may be available, depending on your origin and destination, flight schedules and seat availability. All terms and conditions for GoWild! Can I buy a GoWild! Pass for someone under the age of 18?

“As consumers look to take to the skies this summer for leisure or business travel, we’re thrilled to further expand our route map from coast to coast,” said Frontier Airlines spokesperson Josh Flyr in a news release. “More destinations from more airports means Frontier Airlines can provide ‘Low Fares Done Right’ to even more customers during the busy summer travel season.”

New Frontier Airlines routes to New York, Virginia

Frontier Airlines has created two new routes departing from Philadelphia International Airport as part of its summer route expansion.

Beginning on Wednesday, June 5, Frontier will offer a new service between Philly and Norfolk International Airport, which serves Virginia Beach in Virginia. Frontier will run that route three times a week.

The next day, Frontier will connect Buffalo Niagara International Airport to Philadelphia three times a week.

How much is the airfare for Frontier's new routes?

Travelers had until April 10 to lock in the $19 airfare special Frontier offered as part of the new routes announcement, although Frontier is still advertising the airfare deal on its website .

There are other caveats to obtaining this deal.

"Fares are valid for non-stop travel on select days of week," read a portion of Frontier's website. "Fares are valid for travel Jun. 5, 2024, through Aug. 31, 2024. The following blackout dates apply: Jul. 1, 4-8, 11-15, 18-22, 25-29, 2024. Round trip purchase is not required."

Even without the sale, tickets on Frontier to those destinations are comparatively inexpensive.

For example, a round-trip for one adult leaving Philadelphia International Airport and arriving at Buffalo International Airport on June 6 starts at $148.

And a round-trip ticket for flying out of Philadelphia International Airport going to Norfolk International on June 6 is $142.

Frontier also flies out of Trenton-Mercer Airport

Currently, Trenton-Mercer hosts just Frontier Airlines, which offers nonstop flights to Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, Tampa and West Palm Beach. More popular destinations such as Cancun, Mexico, can be reached via connecting flights.

Frontier Airlines also recently announced 10 new destinations originating from Philadelphia International Airport.

These new destinations became available in May: Chicago; Columbus, Oh.; Detroit; Indianapolis; Kansas City, Mo.; Minneapolis; Pensacola, Fl., Pittsburgh; and St. Louis.

Stary Oskol - Overview

Stary Oskol is a city in Russia located in the Belgorod region, standing on the banks of the Oskol River, about 142 km northeast of Belgorod, 632 km south of Moscow.

The population of Stary Oskol is about 222,600 (2022), the area - 134 sq. km.

History of stary oskol.

In 1300, there was a village called Ugly on the the territory of the present city. Today, it is one of the districts of Stary Oskol. At that time, the village was part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and was a border crossing point on the border with the Golden Horde.

The settlement of Oskol was founded by Russian Tsar Fyodor Ioanovich’s order (Ivan’s the Terrible son) to protect the southern borders of the Russian kingdom in 1593. The bulk of the population were peasants and the military.

In 1617, the town was burned by the Poles. In 1625, 1642 and 1677, the Crimean Tatars approached Stary Oskol, but could not capture it. The town was renamed Stary Oskol (meaning Old Oskol) in 1655, when the town of Tsaryov-Alexeyev, located down the river, was renamed Novy Oskol (New Oskol). Fortifications of the town existed until the 18th century.

More Historical Facts…

Gradually, Stary Oskol turned into peaceful, commercial and merchant town - the center of an agricultural district. Industrial production was represented mainly by enterprises on processing agricultural products.

In 1780, the town got its coat of arms. In 1784, Stary Oskol like most Russian towns of that time was rebuilt according to a new plan signed by Empress Catherine II. A large number of brick houses were built, mostly two-story buildings. The historic center of Stary Oskol has been preserved to our time.

In the second half of the 19th century, the town had a wide network of schools, libraries, reading rooms, printing, secondary schools. In 1894, construction of the railway began, trade and industry began to develop rapidly.

Until the 1930s, there were eleven Orthodox churches in Stary Oskol. During the Second World War, Stary Oskol was occupied by the Germans from July 2, 1942 to February 5, 1943. In 1954, the city became part of the newly formed Belgorod region.

In the late 1960s - early 1970s, in connection with the active development of the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly (the most powerful iron ore basin in the world), Stary Oskol became a major center of iron and steel industry.

Stary Oskol was declared a city of three top-priority Komsomol construction projects. The largest enterprises: Lebedinsky Mining and Processing Plant, Stoilensky Mining and Processing Plant, Oskolsky Electrometallurgical Plant became not only the city-forming enterprises, but also the largest industrial enterprises of the country. Stary Oskol experienced a new birth.

Today, Stary Oskol is a rapidly developing city, one of the leading mining and metallurgical centers of Russia.

Stary Oskol - Features

The coat of arms of Stary Oskol is a shield divided in half diagonally, in the red field there is a rifle, in the green field - a golden plow. It reflects both military and agricultural importance of the town.

Stary Oskol is among Russian cities with the youngest population. The average age of its citizens is about 35 years. The main reason lies in the history of the city. In the second half of the 20th century, a large number of members of the Young Communist League came to Stary Oskol to participate in the construction of large industrial enterprises.

Unique reserves of iron ore, developed industry and infrastructure, high scientific, technical and industrial potential, fertile land form the basis of Stary Oskol economy.

The main branches of local industry are mining, ferrous metallurgy, machine building and metalworking, building materials, food industry. There are more than 140 large and medium industrial enterprises, which employ more than 80 thousand people.

Attractions of Stary Oskol

The city has more than a dozen Orthodox churches and chapels. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (Tokareva Street, 4/1) is the main church of Stary Oskol. St. Trinity Church (Bolshevistskaya Street, 17/15), built in 1730, is the oldest church in the city.

The Zoo was opened in Stary Oskol in 2008. Bears, lions, tigers, monkeys, wolves, camels, ostriches, and other species of birds and animals live there.

Museum of Local Lore (Lenina Street, 50). The museums, founded in 1923, has exhibitions about the history of Stary Oskol. It is located in a building which is a monument of history and culture of the 19th century once owned by the merchants and brothers Likhutins.

The museum organizes tours of the city and the area including visits to an ancient Russian settlement of Kholki, an underground monastery in Melovy mountains, and a biosphere reserve “Yamskaya steppe”.

Art Museum (Lenina Street, 57). The collection of local masters of folk clay toys (O.M.Goncharova and N.M.Goncharova) is a real pearl of the museum. Stary Oskol folk clay toys production was known from the end of the 18th century.

House Museum of Vasily Yeroshenko (Yeroshenko Street, 15). Yeroshenko’s life is a living legend for blind people not only in Russia but also abroad. He encourages disabled people, supports them with his talent, helps them on their ways to improve techniques. Yeroshenko spoke 12 foreign languages and was the professor of universities in Tokyo and Beijing, he became a classic of Japan literature for children.

When one or more of the passengers on a reservation are 13 years of age or younger, Frontier will guarantee adjacent seats for the child or children and an accompanying adult (over age 13) at no additional cost for all fare types subject to limited conditions specified below.

• Child and accompanying adult are on the same reservation
• Adjacent seats are available at the time of booking 
• Adult either chooses seats for the entire reservation or skips seats for the entire reservation, and does not make changes to seat assignments once assigned to them
• It is physically possible based on seat layout to seat the number of children traveling next to the accompanying adult(s).

Although Frontier will provide adjacent seats if available at the time of booking, Frontier might not provide seat assignments right away. Frontier will provide the customer the adjacent seating assignments no later than the day before scheduled departure of the flight.
