Trek Mountainbike kopen

Trek MTB full suspension

Enduro Enduro ritten gaan voornamelijk bergaf.

Fatbike:  Een nieuw type mountainbike.

Maat wielen

Framemateriaal

Aluminium : Het meest gebruikte materiaal.

Zie onze blog over carbon frames.

Versnellingen

Derailleurversnelling : Je schakelt over verschillende tandwielen.

Shimano racefietsgroepen Shimano MTB groepen Sram racefietsgroepen Sram MTB groepen Shimano naafversnellingen

Type voorvork

Lock-out voorvork

Lock-out achterdemper

What Is a Women’s Mountain Bike?

Much like there is no single female body type, there’s no single geometry tweak or feature set that differentiates women’s bikes from men’s or unisex bikes. But most brands agree that the average woman is shorter and lighter than the average man. Women-specific bikes often come in small sizes not offered in unisex versions, including XS and XXS. Some companies, like Specialized and Santa Cruz , think that a great bike doesn’t need a different geometry to work for male or female riders. All those brands’ women’s models offer are a shock tuned for a lighter rider and female-specific touch points, like a women-specific saddle, narrower handlebar, and shorter cranks. Other brands, like Liv and Canyon, take it a step further, as they believe women are best served by frames tuned based on empirical research of female musculature.

Why Don’t All Brands Make Women-Specific Bikes?

Some companies believe that it’s more important to focus on the differences between small and large riders, rather than the difference between male and female riders. These unisex-bike manufacturers have moved toward making their smaller bikes better for shorter, lighter riders all around by tuning the frame and using suspension technology to address those differences and create a bike that rides best for you based on your size, rather than your gender.

Last July, Yeti discontinued its Beti line, which included women’s versions of the SB5 and the SB100. (Those bikes, like Juliana options from Santa Cruz, had grips, seats, bars, and a shock tuned for women). But Yeti found that riders usually swap out those parts anyway based on personal preference. And shocks have gotten so good that engineers say they can meet the needs of lighter riders with stock settings so they no longer needed custom tunes. “The change was really driven by the women who work here—20 percent of our employees are women,” said Kristi Jackson, Yeti’s marketing director.

Points of Contact

The main points of contact that a cyclist has with her bike are the handlebar and the saddle.

First, the handlebar. Many women’s bikes now come with 740mm, 760mm, or wider setups. Even if a wide bar feels unfamiliar, give it a try before you have your shop pull out the cutting tools. A wider bar can give you more control, though a bar that’s too wide can can have the opposite effect. Take your time to find the sweet spot, and remember that a handlebar can be cut a little at a time. Many women’s bikes also come with narrower grips.

Second, the saddle. Even if your new bike comes with a women-specific saddle, it may not be right for you. Just like testing a bike, you should be able to test saddles at your local shop. Once you find one or more that you like, you can learn to easily make this swap, and subsequent adjustments, at home.

The Right Bike for You

Absolutely more important than what gender your bike is designed for is the kind of riding you want to use it for. Before purchasing a mountain bike, think about what kind of experience you want on the trails, what your current skill level is, where you’ll be riding, and, of course, your budget . A cross-country bike is best for fast and efficient pedaling on smooth trails. Trail bikes are best for a mix of climbing and descending. Enduro bikes are for going big with confidence on technical downhills—though, thanks to modern suspension design, many can handle some climbing, too.

Try Before You Buy

It’s good practice to test a few bikes before you buy one . If you’re able to demo mountain bikes at your local shop, be sure to ask the mechanics to set up the suspension specifically for you. Also ask that they check the compression and rebound settings before you roll out. If these things aren’t set up properly, a bike that might be ideal for you could feel terrible during a ride. Finally, before you head out on your test rides, double check the tire pressure and make sure you can use the full length of the bike’s dropper post (if it comes with one).

How We Chose These Bikes

Every bike on this list has been carefully selected by our test team based on their value, quality of parts (most of which we’ve tested separately), our experience riding similar models, and how the overall package meets the intended buyer’s needs. We’ve put most of these bikes to the test at product launches and on the trails around our home office, sending, descending, hucking, climbing, and just plain riding and enjoying them to determine the best options. Whether you want to go big or spend small, one of these women’s mountain bike models is sure to meet your needs, skill level, and budget.

—GREAT FIRST TRAIL BIKE—

Kona mahuna, kona mahuna, $999.

Mahuna, $999

Kona knows how to make high-quality, high-value mountain bikes, and the Mahuna delivers on both. With a longer, slacker geometry than many hardtails, it handled almost everything we threw at it, including some of the most technical, rocky trails in our area. And the whole thing weighs 31 pounds—not a bad number for a bike like this, and it feels lighter on the trail, where it is lively and eager. When the 29-inch wheels get rolling, the Mahuna eats up small trail obstacles, thanks to some really nice parts. The WTB Trail Boss tires are excellently grippy (which seriously helps climbing), and they feel planted everywhere else. The RockShox 30 Silver TK Solo Air fork feels more supple and controlled than most at this price. Kona even gives you Shimano hydraulic disc brakes and a 1x10 Shimano Deore drivetrain. Even with a 28t front chainring, the 11-42 cassette puts you in a gear that can feel too hard on steep stuff, but that’s an easy upgrade down the road. The Mahuna also comes with tubeless-compatible rims and internal-dropper post routing, giving you more opportunities to deck out your ride later. Read Full Review More Images

—FAST CROSS-COUNTRY RIPPER—

Trek marlin 7, marlin marlin 7.

Marlin 7

One of the cheapest bikes on this list, the Trek Marlin 7 is ideal for aspiring racers, everyday trail riders, and casual commuters alike. Riders who like to pedal fast will appreciate its steep, aggressive head and seat angles and a high bottom bracket that offers decent pedal clearance on the trail. Its cables are internally routed, too, which isn’t common on bikes at this price. It has a 2x9-speed Shimano drivetrain, which strays from the single-chainring trend that’s popular on off-road bikes at the moment but also provides a wide range of gearing. And even though the RockShox XC30 100mm coil-spring fork is heavier than some comparable air-spring models, it did a surprisingly good job on super-rocky trails. Add to that the 2.2-inch-wide Bontrager tires on 29-inch Bontrager Connection rims, which never squirmed too much on sketchy terrain, and you have a bike that not only looks fast but also offers the kind of sharp handling and precise steering you’d expect from higher-priced racing models. —STABLE ENTRY-LEVEL RIDE—

Scott-sports.com contessa active 50.

Contessa Active 50

This affordable hardtail from Scott is a great gateway bike for those just beginning to venture off-road. The suspension fork with 100mm of travel smooths out rough terrain. Upright positioning is comfortable on your back, neck, and wrists. Wide Kenda Booster tires keep you planted and stable through corners and on wet trails. The saddle is decent, but begins to feel stiff within minutes of use, so tester Daisy Hernandez suggests swapping it out for one you know you like. The Shimano Tourney drivetrain offered enough gears for finding a comfortable pace to ride uphill, and the Tektro hydraulic disc brakes brought us smoothly to a stop without any jerky movements, Whether you want an affordable option as you explore trail riding or you’re just looking for a super stable, comfortable ride for the bike path, we love the quality and fun the Contessa Active 50 offers at this price point. —RAIL TRAIL EXPLORER—

Liv bliss 3.

Bliss 3

If you’re looking to cruise rail trails, bike lanes, and smooth dirt paths, the versatile Bliss 3 will get you out there. With wide, 2.1-inch tires and a suspension fork, it soaks up bumps in the road and roots on the trail. Sizes XXS and XS come with 26-inch wheels; S, M, and L come with 27.5-inch wheels—both of which are on the smaller end of the scale for tires (i.e. not 29ers), making the bike more responsive to your steering—ideal for riders with less experience. A triple chainring and 7-speed cassette translates to 21 unique gear combos, with plenty of light ones for spinning uphill. A quick-release seatpost allows you to make adjustments to your saddle height midride as you dial in a comfortable fit, and the geometry puts you in an upright position that is kind to your neck and low back.

Full-Suspension Bikes

―fun, aggressive, and rowdy―, juliana maverick.

Maverick X01 CC

Get ready to clock your best times on your favorite descents. Launched in July of 2019, the Maverick, a 150mm trail bike, fills the gap between Juliana’s Joplin XC bike and its 160mm all-mountain Roubion . Test editor Riley Missel rode the Maverick mostly on our home trails near the office—chunky, rooty systems with foot-high log-overs, steep rock gardens, and jagged, fast descents. And the bike handled it all like it knew the course too, surprising us with how versatile, light, and capable it was. That trail confidence comes from an impressive set of features, including 140mm of rear travel matched to a RockShox Lyrik Ultimate 150mm fork that lets you charge downhill while maintaining full control. The Santa Cruz Reserve wheels navigated over obstacles so swiftly and nimbly that riding uphill was as close to “fun” as we’d ever call an ascent. While the bike’s total weight is right around 30 pounds, the efficient suspension made the Maverick feel even lighter on climbs. And the pro-level fork, shock, and wheels let us keep up speed as we thundered over everything in our path. Plus, the superb grip of the Maxxis Minion DHR2 tires delivered a bomber ride that kept us confident and planted, even across slick, wet roots. Read Full Review More Images

—MOST PLAYFUL—

Yeti sb140 t2, sb140 turq t2.

SB140 Turq T2

The SB140 is a long and slack trail bike with 27.5-inch wheels for riders who like things to happen quickly. Compared to a lot of 29ers, it feels faster, snappier, and more playful. You can change direction easier, and pop off features that bigger-wheeled bikes would plow over. The heart of the bike is its Switch Infinity suspension system. Other Yeti bikes with the design have won Editors’ Choice awards for how well they blend smooth, efficient pedaling and excellent traction, without sacrificing too much ability to soak up big blows. It’s a testament to the design, and advances in shock tech, that this bike feels like it pedals even better than the previous one. With a 65-degree head angle and 460mm reach, this is one of the longest and slackest trail bikes you can buy. But it still handles incredibly well: You feel the quickness in acceleration, the snappiness as you ratchet the cranks through tricky sections, and the eagerness to lean into corners and pop off the top of a roller, turning wide grade reversals into doubles. It’s one of the most exciting trail bikes we rode all year. Read Full Review More Images

—VERSATILE—

Cannondale habit women’s 1, habit carbon women’s 1.

Habit Carbon Women’s 1

For the kind of anything-could-happen fun group ride, Cannondale’s Women’s Habit 1 is exactly what tester Taylor Rojek wanted. This carbon trail bike is an excellent all-rounder, not excelling at any one thing, with 130mm of forgiving suspension, 29-inch wheels, and a ride quality that’s calm without being boring. Like most other current trail bikes, the Habit’s geometry leans toward long, low, and slack. It has a 66-degree head angle, 43.5cm chainstays, and a 66.3-degree seat tube angle on our size small. Its SRAM Eagle 12-speed drivetrain provides plenty of range to climb and descend on most trails, while the 130mm rear suspension and 140mm fork fall into the sweet spot for a lot of riders—enough squish to feel plush without being heavy or making us feel like we were wallowing. We expect a 130mm 29er to perform really well on descents (which the Habit definitely does). But we’re less certain of how those types of bikes will climb. Luckily, we were really pleased with the Habit’s uphill performance. It weighs a respectable 30.9 pounds and feels planted and secure while climbing, no swerving all over the trail. Read Full Review

—LIGHT AND LIVELY—

Juliana furtado, furtado 27.5 d.

Furtado 27.5 D

If you like a lighter and more playful trail bike, the 130mm-travel Juliana Furtado, with 27.5-inch wheels, is a great option. Offered in three frame grades (aluminum, basic carbon, and high-end carbon), two tire size options—lighter 2.3-inch models and grippier 2.6-inch tires—and a multitude of build options, complete bikes start at $2,699 and top out at $9,499. With new geometry and suspension, the Furtado is more sure-footed than ever but retains a lively feel that makes every trail your playground. Full Review More Images

—BUDGET-FRIENDLY—

Liv intrigue 3, liv intrigue 3.

Intrigue 3

Liv released two new versions of its 150mm-travel Intrigue at more-affordable price levels, and we took the most entry-level option—the 3—out for a rip. If you’re curious about longer-travel bikes but still shredding on a budget, it’s an excellent option for crushing more chunky terrain without having to empty your bank account. Built with the company’s Aluxx (aluminum) frame, it has the same amount of travel (150mm front/140mm rear), women-specific geometry, and 27.5-inch wheel size as the higher-priced Intrigue Advanced models. It also prioritizes higher-quality components—like 12-speed shifting and a dropper post—where they’re most important and cuts costs in places that are much less noticeable (think the handlebar and stem) to deliver a ride better than its price might suggest. You love nature, adventure, tackling singletrack with friends, seeking new challenges. So does Lush. It's a perfect match.

  • USER REVIEWS

I've had this bike for nearly two years, this was my first full suspension bike. This baby has been through so much, I've raced and trained for XC with it for the past two years. I've taken some serious crashes with this bike, and my first instinct has always been to check the bike. My Lush never let me down, the frame is still going strong as well as all of the components. I have not had to have a single repair. The 29" wheel rolls over anything and everything while giving me leverage on climbs. This is a fun bike and I highly recommend.

Weaknesses would have to be none.

good components for the price point, Women Specific Design simply WORKS for a petite woman handling suspension tuned to a woman's weight

slooooow on the flat... but that's not why you bought a full suspension, is it?!

I picked up my Lush S 2013 in Bangkok... which is flat as a pancake. I got a great deal on it (and I already think that it is a great value for the components) because there is really no use for a full suspension bike when you never go down a hill! the S was the only version offered in the store, so I didn't try the SL or regular Lush, but this price point and component level was pretty much what I was in the market for, anyway. I was all excited to try it out, despite the flatness of Bangkok, so I took it out with a local group who rides the trails around the rice paddies outside of town, which turned out to be almost as hard packed as the tarmac roads we took to get to them. I found myself at the tail end of the group the whole time- all of whom were riding hard tails with smooth, skinny tires - which was a bit embarrassing, really. But then I took it home, to Kathmandu... Suddenly I went from the back of the pack to charging up hills, passing the best of our group, and flying down singletrack like I had wings. I felt like Superwoman! The big knobbly tires, which slowed me down on the flat hardpack in Thailand, grip the mud and layered dust of Kathmandu like glue. The plush suspension takes the drops and rocks and ruts like they weren't even there, the derailleurs shift the chain along the 3X10 rings like silk, and the slack overdrive headset steers like a dream. The real difference with this bike, for me, is the geometry. I am 5 foot nothing, with relatively long legs and short arms- kind of a typical woman, really! I ride the 14.5 Lush S, which puts me much closer to the handlebars than my hard tail (also a Trek, but not WSD). The different angle makes my pedal stroke a lot more efficient too, which is how I find myself powering up hills about twice as fast as before, despite the rear suspension. This is also the first bike I've ever owned where I actually have the recommended stand over height! The suspension is also well designed for a lighter woman, making even the front fork significantly more cushy than my HT, while never being in danger of bottoming out- giving me a lot more control, not just a smoother ride. The one thing I'm still getting used to is the totally different center of gravity. While it makes me feel more in control and confident on the downhill, I feel much higher off the ground than on my HT, and therefore a bit tippy. This is particularly true when I'm headed up a short very steep bit of trail- I often feel like i'm going to tip over. This is more a technique issue than anything else, and I'll get used to it soon, but I thought I'd mention it in case other people feel the same way. The steering is also much more sensitive than on my HT, so I had a bit of trouble at first on particularly skinny "half tracks" like those between the Nepali rice paddies (the Thai paddies have tractor roads between them), I felt like I was in danger of accidentally over steering and falling off the track. Again, this is just something to get used to. Finally, it is a bit shallow, but I do have to say I love the color, and I've gotten a TON of complements on it. The powder blue and navy is just striking, and the gold accents are a nice touch! If you want an idea of what kind of riding I do in Kathmandu, look up "colors of Kathmandu" on YouTube.

not carbon! a good value. many frame improvements from the Trek Fuel WSD. handles well with excellent suspension properties. 2012 Lush SL has decent color. decent weight.

oem crankset on the 2012 Lush SL. not compatible with water bottle cages. 2012 color options are hideous (except for Lush SL which is decent) and will not match well with most prospective upgrades that are dominated with red, gold, etc unfortunately, color coordination is a big thing among most ladies

i have researched and tested the Trek Lush Carbon and the Trek Lush SL. I was intending to splurge on my girlfriend who has shown great improvement in mountainbiking. i was also intending to either settle with SLX or XT or maybe XTR For comparison among women's bikes, i have also researched the Specialized Safire Pro, Giant Trance XW, Norco Sight Forma 2 and Forma 3 and the Pivot Mach 5.7 Carbon. The Trek Lush rides very well. Suspension has minimal bob when pedaling but descends very well. Its ABP system works well and allows suspension to remain active even during panic braking. The price value is one of the best and second only to the Norco Sight Forma. Compared to last years model (its predecessor) 2011 Trek Fuel 8 WSD, the Lush has improved with lower standover height and a better riding experience. the Lush has less travel with 120mm compared to the Norco Sight Forma at 140mm and the PC Mach 5.7 carbon at 140/150mm. However my girlfriend is upgrading from a 80-100 fork hardtail so i think the 140 is overkill (at least for now). the difference in travel was therefore inconsequential. The price was great and i really wanted to settle with the Lush. Unfortunately, there were two things that were simply unacceptable in this bike: 1. color. the colors of their bikes are far from attractive and clashes with most upgrades that i wanted to add. for example, i intended to add a better wheelset which had red stripes (as most mtb components have)... with so many other colors the bike starts to look like a rainbow or clown in bad way. although color is not a big issue to me, it was an issue with my sister and my girlfriend and since i was already spending that much money, i wanted a good looking bike. The outgoing 2011 Trek EX 8 WSD (was on sale) looked great but was not the right size. 2. you cannot attach a water bottle cage on it. the bike decision basically came to this. as an avid mountain biker, we go 3-4x a week but each ride is less than 2.5 hours long. most of the female bikers including my sis and girlfriend rarely ride more than 2 hours and would rather use water bottles for non-epic length bike rides. they don't want to wear a sweaty camelback that needs to be washed each week and requires extensive preparation beyond filling a clean water bottle that they could wash in the dishwasher. in the end, no matter how i tried to convince myself about the Lush, it simply didn't cut it. by lowering the standover height (which was already sufficiently low in the previous Fuel EX WSD) they made the frame triangle too small to allow a water bottle cage and thus didn't even try to put bolts/receivers on the downtube. if this was a freeride or downhill bike, i would understand the lack of water bottle cage bolts/receivers but this is a trail bike! nearly went with the Specialized Safire Pro but it looks hideous and the suspension design was not inspiring. i ended up settling with the Pivot Cycles 5.7 Carbon (the aluminum did not allow water bottle cages either) and built it with Shimano XT at competitivecyclist.com. it is a sweet bike although i ended up spending nearly 2x more than i intended to when i was looking at the Trek Lush

smooth ride. easy too handle, corners great, and climbs like crazy! pretty paint job. solid, light, traction is top notch..fits my body correctly and 27 inch stand over.pretty girly looking paint job seems to cleean easy. appears to reject mud.good price was out the door.

none...... just be sure if you move brake levers in for one finger, that the rear brake cable might need slack re dispursed. this is because handle bars are not wide.24" (white grips are no problem they windex back to pure white anytime...)

my hard tail rattled too much so my husband bought me a lush. superb workman ship on this ladie bike. paint job is drk blackish blue with glitter that reflects near dark purple with a hint of gold.lots of laddie ish emblembs and a pink elephant on the back of the frame by the crank and shock. pretty bike. too pretty for a boy to ride. smooth ride and easy to control. i hate to climb but this bike climbs great! love the traction. Im not a hot dog like my husband but with the lush I can at least follow him in style and comfort. we see a lot of fuji and giant and specialized but the TREKS are way better and worth the money. my husband says the LUSH cant mop the floor with any other xc bike out there. I think he is right. I am really a begginner but yesterday we went to palos illinois and peddaled 3 ravines, one day and gravity cavity. ok so i walked 2 of the ravines but the 3rd I did and the Lush handled cornering at one day and I dont even know how to corner yet!!!then we walked up gravity cavity and my husband did the jump with his remedy 7, and then I climbed out of gravity cavity from first jump to top on my LUSH. last but not least the 27 inch stand over is perfect because i am only 5'2". all Lush frame sizes have 27 " standover give a 1/4" or so.I recomend this bike to all wifes because it helps to have a top machine. you dont got to be any good to pedal a LUSH but if you are good you could compete with this bike.

Moscow Miniature Model

1. Smolenskaya and Taras Shevchenko Embankments. Metro and Borodinsky Bridges. Moscow miniature model project started in 1968 on the personal order of Nikita Khrushchev, inspired by Budapest city model. Constructing the whole city in miniature is barely reasonable – it would be enormous. So, the plan was limited to the central part of Moscow. Designing took years; the project was complete only by 1986! Most houses are made of solid wood. The Kremlin – of cherry wood, imported from India, while the Kremlin churches cupolas are made of lemon tree and are covered with gold leaf. Managing the model is becoming a way more difficult process.  Construction firms are not eager to provide their projects, so most of the new buildings are recreated by photographs. The model is being renovated and looked after regularly. Expandable construction of the model simplifies that: it can be divided in 2x2 meters parts, but this is a great hobby to have among others like gaming or gambling in the ilucki casino online. Model’s area is 144 square meters (12x12 meters) in total, the scale of 1:500. Address: Moscow, 2-Brestskaya Street, 6 (Mayakovskaya or Belorusskaya metro station) Monday-Friday, from 10.00 to 17.30 (more...)...

The Trek 800 is a popular mountain bike from the 20th century. It was first introduced in 1987, and production ended in 2003, so it’s an old bike.

The big question is: Is the Trek 800 a good bike?

Compared to modern standards, the Trek 800 is outdated. However, its benefits include simplicity, a quality steel frame, a wide gear range, and a low price. It’s possible to buy a used one for less than $100.

Do you want to learn more about this iconic bike? Let’s dive in!

Is Trek 800 a Good Bike?

Trek 800 was popular worldwide thanks to its simplicity, quality frame, and reliability. Unlike the Trek 4300 , it features a rigid fork.

It wasn’t cheap at a retail price of around $300, considering the average salary at the time.

It came in various sizes (13″, 15.5″, 17.5″, 19.5″, 21.5″…) and different colors, with slightly modified components each year.

Trek 800 was sold with rim brakes and in multiple options:

  • Trek 800 Sport
  • Trek 800 Antelope

However, details about their differences are not available. The Trek 800 Sport was also available in a step-through frame option, making it suitable for women and people with limited mobility.

The last generation of Trek 800 was released in 2003, and since then, it has been discontinued and replaced by newer models.

Pros and Cons of Trek 800

I summarized the pros and cons of Trek 800 below.

Pros of Trek 800

  • Quality and sturdy steel frame
  • Available for men and women
  • Comfortable geometry, allowing upright riding position

Cons of Trek 800

  • 26-inch wheels
  • 3X drivetrain (2X and 1X became more popular thanks to their simplicity)
  • Rigid front fork

The following section provides a detailed comparison of the features of the Trek 800 with those of modern mountain bikes . It will help you understand the advantages and disadvantages of the Trek 800 better.

Main Features of Trek 800

Let’s now dive deeper into Trek’s 800 components so you better understand its value.

Steel Frame

The frame is one of the most important components of any bike, and the Trek 800 featured a high-tensile steel and Cro-Moly frame.

Steel is a durable, affordable, and stiff material commonly used for low-end bikes .

Trek 800 indoors

However, the bike’s weight of around 13 kg (26 lbs) was pretty heavy, especially considering it had a rigid fork.

On the other hand, you didn’t have to worry about its durability because Trek 800 was designed to last and withstand a lot of abuse.

26-Inch Wheels

The Trek 800 was equipped with 26-inch wheels, which are nimble and allow for quick acceleration but are not as fast, stable, or comfortable as 27.5 or 29-inch wheels.

In today’s market, it’s rare to find adult mountain bikes with 26-inch wheels. They are primarily used for kids’ mountain bikes and dirt bikes.

Trek 800 on a field with a forrest behind

The trend in the market has shifted towards 27.5 and 29-inch wheels, which are more comfortable, stable, and faster. They may not accelerate as quickly, but they have many other advantages.

The following video showcases the sprint of different bike types (and wheel sizes) over various distances. Keep in mind that their gearing may differ. However, the video effectively demonstrates the quick acceleration of smaller wheels (BMX vs. MTB).

SPRINT RACE // BMX vs MTB vs TRACK

The Trek 800 combined Shimano, SRAM, and other 3rd party components.

Interestingly, some components were supplied by other manufacturers, such as SRAM, which supplied cassettes, Suntour forks, and cranks.

Trek 800 on a field with a forrest behind

The Trek 800 had a narrow handlebar, no front suspension, and a wide saddle compared to today’s standards.

Most Trek 800 models had a 3×7spd drivetrain offering 21 gears, while some had a 3×8spd gearing.

In contrast, modern mountain bikes typically use 2X or 1X drivetrains for simplicity, lower weight, and less chance of cross-chaining.

Trek 800 cassette and rear derailleur

However, the Trek 800 had similarities to today’s hybrid bikes due to its rigid fork and geometry. Hybrids still use 2X or 3X drivetrains, providing a wide gear range for various terrains.

One of the main downsides of the Trek 800 was the rigid fork. The only “suspension” came from its wide, high-volume tires.

Trek 800 front fork

Riding through rougher terrain required more caution. The Trek 820 was a later model that addressed this issue by including a suspension fork.

Overall, the Trek 800 was best suited for paved, dirt, and forest roads without many bumps.

Trek 800 Specifications

Below, I summarize the most important technical specifications. Remember, they differ based on the year:

  • Frame material: Steel
  • Weight: ±13kg (29lb) depending on frame size, brakes, and year made
  • Wheel size: 26-inch
  • Brakes: Rim
  • Groupset: Shimano Altus, Tourney
  • Gears: 3×7spd or 3×8spd
  • Colors: Differ based on the year

The Trek 800 is a budget-friendly mountain bike mainly produced in the last century. Despite its age, it still makes a good choice for those looking for an affordable MTB, thanks to its depreciation and low price.

Since it has already been discontinued, you may find good deals on websites like Craigslist or eBay. For a mint condition bike, aim for a price of up to $150; for a decent condition bike, look for a price under $100.

Additionally, you may want to check out Trek’s current mountain bike offerings. The Trek 820 , which also comes in a step-through option , is a mountain bike worth considering.

Trek 800 FAQ

If you’re searching for an affordable mountain bike , the Trek 800 is still a good option today. Look for one in mint condition for under $150 or in decent condition for under $100. Remember that it’s a mountain bike from the previous century, so it may not compare to today’s models, but it’s still useful for activities like commuting. For more information, be sure to read the entire article.

Trek 800 was made between 1987 and 2003.

Trek 800 weighs ±13 kg (29 lbs). Its weight differs based on its size and year made. Also, the Trek 800 with disc brakes is heavier than with rim brakes.

Theatres in Moscow

Cultural life of Moscow city is various and rich! Operas, ballets, symphonic concerts... Russian composers have created some of the most beautiful classical music. Russian classical music is very popular in Moscow. It is performed in many beautiful historical venues. Do not forget to include a visit to a concert hall in your itinerary when you are planning your stay in Moscow! And do it in advance.

There are almost no restrictions on dress code in Russian theatres. Visitors may wear jeans and sports shoes, they may have a backpack with them. Only shorts are not allowed.

A typical feature of Russian theatre – visitors are bringing a lot of flowers which they present to their favorite performers after the show.

Here are some practical advices where to go and how to buy tickets.

The Bolshoi Theatre

The Bolshoi Theatre is the oldest, the most famous and popular opera and ballet theatre in Russia. The word “Bolshoi” means “big” in Russian. You can buy a ticket online in advance, 2-3 months before the date of performance on the official website . Prices for famous ballets are high: 6-8 thousand rubles for a seat in stalls. Tickets to operas are cheaper: you can get a good seat for 4-5 thousand rubles. Tickets are cheaper for daytime performances and performances on the New Stage. The New Stage is situated in the light-green building to the left of the Bolshoi's main building. The quality of operas and ballets shown on the New Stage is excellent too. However, you should pay attention that many seats of the Bolshoi’s Old and New Stages have limited visibility . If you want to see the Bolshoi’s Old Stage but all tickets are sold out, you can order a tour of the theatre. You can book such a tour on the official website.

If you want, following Russian tradition, to give flowers to the performers at the end of the show, in the Bolshoi flowers should be presented via special staff who collects these flowers in advance.

In August the Bolshoi is closed.

The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre

This theatre is noteworthy. On one hand, it offers brilliant classical opera and ballet performances. On the other hand, it is an experimental venue for modern artists. You can check the program and buy tickets online here http://stanmus.com/ . If you are opera lover, get a ticket to see superstar Hibla Gerzmava . The theatre has a very beautiful historic building and a stage with a good view from every seat. Tickets are twice cheaper than in the Bolshoi.

The Novaya Opera

“Novaya” means “New” in Russian. This opera house was founded in 1991 by a famous conductor Eugene Kolobov. Its repertoire has several directions: Russian and Western classics, original shows and divertissements, and operas of the 20th and 21st centuries. It is very popular with Muscovites for excellent quality of performances, a comfortable hall, a beautiful Art Nouveau building and a historic park Hermitage, which is situated right next to it. You can buy tickets online here http://www.novayaopera.ru/en .

Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center

The Opera Center has become one of the best theatrical venues in Moscow. It was founded in 2002 by great diva Galina Vishnevskaya. Nowadays its artistic director is Olga Rostropovich, daughter of Galina Vishnevskaya and her husband Mstislav Rostropovich, great cellist and conductor. Not only best young opera singers perform here, but also world music stars do; chamber and symphonic concerts, theatrical productions and musical festivals take place here. You can see what is on the program here http://opera-centre.ru/theatre . Unfortunately “booking tickets online” is available in Russian only. If you need help, you can contact us at and we can book a ticket for you.

Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and The Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory

These are two major concert halls for symphonic music in Moscow. Both feature excellent acoustics, impressive interior, various repertoire and best performers. You can check the program here http://meloman.ru/calendar/ . You need just to switch to English. Booking tickets online is available only for owners of Russian, Ukrainian and Belorussian phone numbers. If you need help, you can contact us and we can book a ticket for you.

Moscow International Performing Arts Center (MIPAC)

This modern and elegant concert hall houses performances of national and foreign symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, solo instrumentalists, opera singers, ballet dancers, theatre companies, jazz bands, variety and traditional ensembles. Actually, it has three concert halls placed on three different levels and having separate entrances. The President of MIPAC is People’s Artist of the USSR Vladimir Spivakov, conductor of “Virtuosy Moskvy” orchestra. You can see pictures of the concert halls here http://www.mmdm.ru/en/content/halls . The program is impressive in its variety but is not translated into English. You can contact us at and we can find a performance for you.

CelebWatch: Shatner Gets “Weird” + Pine Goes To “Moscow” + Nimoy Wraps “Fringe” + Quinto On The “Margin”

Shatner pitches "Weird or What" in Cannes

We will find in May if William Shatner’s new sitcom Bleep My Dad Says gets picked up, but one Shatner show that is definitely going on the air is Weird or What , a new documentary series Shatner is co-producing an hosting. The show description press release make it sound a bit like Leonard Nimoy’s In Search Of :

in Weird or What? William Shatner will investigate and analyze all that is weird in the world, including everything from paranormal phenomena to weird and wonderful creatures, from medical oddities to mysterious disappearances, and bizarre natural disasters to mystical monster attacks.

The show has been sold to Discovery Channel in the US and History Channel in Canada. Today Shatner is at the MIP TV convention in Cannes today selling  the show to the world. Variety reports that production company Cineflix has successfully sold the show to "nearly every territory". At the event Shatner described the show:

We’re looking at weird circumstances but we’re presenting them in a light-hearted, jaunty way. We’re not taking ourselves too seriously.

Chris Pine headed to Moscow as Jack Ryan

Last year Chris Pine, the new Kirk, was tapped as the new Jack Ryan, to head up another big Paramount franchise. New details have emerged on this next film based on the Tom Clancy character. Pajiba reports the following story synopsis for the next Jack Ryan film (now with the working title of "Moscow"):

The movie will pick up with the Jack Ryan not long after his stint in the Marines, before he’s joined the CIA, while he’s a Wall Street stock broker, an occupation that will play heavily into the script. In the Clancy novels, Jack Ryan was a successful financial analyst in Baltimore for Merrill Lynch. In the new movie, he will have transplanted to Moscow to continue his financial advising, not for Merill Lynch (which has been absorbed by Bank of America), but for a billionaire employer. It is that billionaire employer who eventually sets Jack Ryan up to take the fall for terrorist plot designed to collapse the U.S. economy. After that, Ryan must race against time to clear his name, reveal the terrorist plot, and save his wife, who has been taken hostage by the billionaire employer.

No word yet on when "Moscow" will go in front of cameras or be released, but probably following Pine’s work on the next Star Trek .

Nimoy’s last day as an actor? + honored as space inspiration

Spock Prime, Leonard Nimoy has recently stated he is ready to back into acting retirement. This would mean his last job as an actor would be reprising his role as William Bell in the season finale  JJ Abrams’ Fringe . And yesterday, Nimoy tweeted " Finishing work on Fringe today. Really good experience. The two parter will air in May." Today he tweeted that his back home. Speaking of Twitter, in just four days TheRealNimoy has picked up almost 33,000 followers.

But Mr. Nimoy is still out and about. On Thursday Leonard is being honored by the Space Foundation at the National Space Symposium in Colorado. Nimoy is being presented with the Douglas S. Morrow Public Outreach award for being an inspiration to people around the world "to explore the wonders of science, space, and technology." And a reminder, next Friday the original Spock is headed to the Vulcan, Alberta, Canada (the official Star Trek capital of Canada) to unveil a bust of himself, and then he is off to the Calgary Entertainment Expo for the weekend.

Quinto on NYSE floor

Finally we come to the new Mr. Spock, Zachary Quinto. The actor is currently in New York  filling out his resume as a producer an actor in Margin Call , a film set in the world of the stock market. Last week Zach tweeted this pic of himself with his Before the Door production company partners.

While he has been in New York, Quinto has been a frequent Twitterer, sending gems like this one last Thursday:

the t-shirt i was wearing today smelled. so i bought a new t-shirt. now it smells. already. why you got to be so smelly t-shirts?

But no worries, Zach was cleaned up all nice by the next night…

Jeez, that photo of Nimoy is fierce! :D

I cant wait to see nimoy and the shat at vegas will miss them when their gone

Shats new show sounds fun–long as they dont make fun of believers cuz that could be bad n sad–

Like a jaunty “In Search Of…”

If I see one more word with quotes around it I’m going to “scream”.

Has Shatner seen Star Trek 11 yet?

How really cares. I don’t. maybe I did at one point. But I don’t now. Let it go. For crying….out….loud

“We’re not taking ourselves too seriously.”

In contrast to some of today’s Hollywood actor wannabees, Shatner can afford to not take himself too seriously. :)

Nimoy looks like an old, and very wise Spock on that photo. Acting retirement surely would be a waste of material…

#6 No, he’s busy having a life. :))

The two shows should be combined to form a show called “Weird Fringe”, and in the first show William Shatner could focus on mysteries of Mr.Spock’s bowl haircut.

Wow whats up with Quinto’s nerdball galsses….First we see a hobo Spock and now dork Spock.

ZQ’s follow up tweet is hilarious!

Nimoy always look cool…kinda badass…you wish Fringe would throw a evil Spock beard on him! Shat looks kinda pudgy…a jolly old type… I was really hoping Mr Nimoy would make it in the new MI movie as Paris…maybe a evil Paris with a beard!

Jack Ryan before Star Trek or after???

From everything I’ve seen of Ben Affleck, he’s pretty impressed with himself. Chris Pine will be 1000 times better than him.

Quinto needs a fashion adviser.

I think Quinto should do a music video as Bilbo Baggins

Alec Baldwin was a great Jack Ryan. Tough act to follow (and I’m a big Ford fan).

16. Yeah! xD lol

Quinto is always dressed stylish, cool and modern- I love it. Zach, just rub some patchouly on yourself and get back to work please!!!!!!!! And Bleep Jack Ryan!
