Uluru Sunset and Sacred Sites from the Rock Itinerary
Our Kata Tjuta and Uluru Sunset Ayers Rock Tours give you the chance to experience some of Australia’s most iconic landmarks in the most magical way.
To start with, we’ll head straight to the base of Uluru , where your experienced guide will give you a tour of the major sights and share information about the famous landmark’s geology and fascinating history. As well as learn about the Aboriginal Stories that span back thousands of years, you’ll get to see Uluru from several unique perspectives.
Afterwards, we’ll head on to the Kuniya Walk where the guide will show you the way to the beautiful Mutitjulu Waterhole . At one point in time, the waterhole was the main source of water for the Aboriginal people that lived in the area, so you’ll get to discover some colourful rock paintings that have been etched around the region.
Then it’s time to check out the Cultural Centre , which is home to an eclectic selection of original ceramics, woodwork, and paintings that reveal stories and histories from the surrounding regions. Some of the artworks date back hundreds of years, providing an insightful look back at the rich heritage of Uluru and Kata Tjuta . Here, there will also be time for you to pick a souvenir up as a memory of your trip.
As the sun begins to descend, we’ll head to the Uluru Sunset Viewing area, one of the most picturesque spots on our Ayers Rock Tours. On the way, you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a camel or two making its way across the park, and you’ll get to soak in the rugged landscape with its vibrant tufts of greenery. Once at the viewing point, we’ll set you up with a selection of local Australian wines and nibbles while you kick back and relax as the scenery starts to glow in the sunset. Feel free to sit and marvel at the views or take a stroll to find a peaceful spot to enjoy it from.
While the sun’s setting, you’ll be party to the incredible colour changes Uluru goes through. The huge monolith turns red, orange, and gold, oozing a majestic presence for which it is so famous for.
When the sun has set and Uluru is settling in for the night, we’ll hop aboard the coach and say goodbye to this stunning region. As we go, you’ll get to experience the clear skies and the twinkling stars that perch above the incredible formations of the area.
Discovering Kata Tjuta and witnessing the Uluru Sunset with Kata Tjuta Tours, is a memory that is sure to linger forever in your heart. This is one of the best Uluru Day Tours, book yours today!

Driving around the Uluru base was a wonderful way to avoid the heat of the day, but still see all the sites. The sunset at Uluru was beautiful and we enjoyed the couple of snack and drink options. Visiting in the summer was extremely hot 112* and lots of relentless flies, as I understand now is common. I wish the tour had proactively recommended nets to keep the flies away. - drrad666 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Logistics not optimal Staff was great, food was good, star gazing was a little lacking because the moon was out (not the fault of the staff, just the timing, and the talk was fine). It wasn’t quite what we expected, though, in terms of logistics…we were dropped off in a parking lot near Ayer’s Rock to watch the sunset and were offered some wine, beer and cheese. After about 1-1/2 hrs, we reboarded the bus and were taken to a different parking area where they had tables set up for the dinner. So our only complaint was having to get on and off the bus at two locations for appetizers and dinner. Read more Written 28 January 2024

- 926brennae 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Wonderful tour! The tour was wonderful! Jakob and Hayley were so incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. This tour really highlighted the rich history of Uluru and its cultural significance. We especially loved hearing the stories of the different sides of the rocks as we hiked and drove around the site. It was quite hot but the team made sure we stayed hydrated and in the shade as much as possible. The sunset was absolutely stunning and for only spending the day in Uluru we left with such an appreciation for this beautiful place! Thank you! Our tour was technically the sacred sites one booked through the resort but didn’t see it listed. Read more Written 19 January 2024

- Marizabelcgc 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Better than sunset tours Having done both sunset and sunrise tours and would 100% recommend this option over the others. Very easy to book online on the resort website, over the phone or from the tourist information centre in the middle of the resort. It’s an early start, with pick up from your hotels over 1 hour before sunrise. Which suits us beautiful cause there’s a heatwave and we’re back at the hotel before the temperature reached the 40s. I feel this is the only tour operator offering sunrise tours, meaning you don’t have a bunch of tourist with you, only those on your bus. The opportunity to take dark photos and then pictures against the sunrise was phenomenal. Nicely finished experience with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. 10/10, the best way to experience the outstanding Field of Lights exhibition Read more Written 29 December 2023
