christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Happy Thanksgiving, Friends! I hope your day is filled with the people you love, turkey, and more things to be thankful for than you can count. As I’m getting ready for the 2023 Christmas Tour on Monday, Nov 27th, I thought you might like to see last year’s home tour. There are lots of ideas and inspiration to use for your Christmas home. Remember to stop back on Monday! Here is a little hint of what to expect this year…

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Enjoy last year’s tour!

Welcome to the 2022 StoneGable, Merry And Bright Christmas Home Tour! I’m so glad you are here!

I’m part of the Blogger’s Best Home Tours hosted by Kelly at The Tattered Pew . Kelly has worked tirelessly to put together this Christmas tour of 35+ bloggers’ Holiday homes going on all week long! Today you can visit 7 homes!

If you are coming from Cecilia’s at My Thrift Store Addiction … WELCOME! I’m sure you loved her Christmas home and the way she incorporated beautiful and thrifty items into her decor!

I’m so excited for you to look around our Christmas home and I hope when you leave you will have lots of ideas to use in your home this Holiday season!

A ffiliate links included. See ourĀ  Discloser Policy . As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

Come on in the front door!

I think a wreath is a happy and hospitable way to welcome anyone who comes to our front door!

Most of the Christmas decor are things I already have. I like to challenge myself to use them in new and interesting ways.

But the wreath… it’s new! Cedar is a very popular green this year, and I am certainly on the cedar bandwagon! I opted not to use a bow on this wreath because it is gathered up at the top with twine. It’s a pretty and casual modern look.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

This wreath is huge! So it can easily be seen from the road!

Come on into the foyer!

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

The heart of our foyer is this long white console table. And I packed it full of Christmas decor this year.

I’m not much of a collector but one thing I just can’t pass up are little trees! The console table holds some of my favorites plus a couple new additions.

You will see lots of little trees scattered throughout our Christmas home.

What do you collect?

One of the questions I get asked every year is how to decorate with what we collect. So this year I wrote a helpful post, DECORATING WITH CHRISTMAS COLLECTIONS . And it has been one of my popular posts so far this year.

In the post, you can see the big difference in how I decorated last year compared to this year.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Did you notice the white and silver reindeer art? I love reindeer. They are adorable! But this reindeer is so majestic I decided to prop him up in the foyer to greet you!

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

This year I took pictures with lots of lit candles! I took the photos over a three-day period and the last day was so dark and rainy. So I lit some of the candles and enjoyed the ambiance as I took pictures.

On the bottom shelf of the console, you will get a little clue about a color that plays a big part in our Christmas Home this year!

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

If you love a Christmas home that looks cohesive and has a designer flair then the most important thing you can do is choose a Christmas color palette!

I’ve wanted to use red in my Christmas home for several years but I seemed to default to greens and neutrals which I love.

I decided early that this was the year to add red! A color palette helped me to keep on track. This year’s colors were inspired by last year’s CHRISTMAS MASTER BEDROOM .

I wanted to use the same colors plus a touch of red.

Here is my Christmas color palette this year…

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

A color palette makes decorating so much easier. You can see a very helpful post, HOW TO CHOOSE A PERFECT CHRISTMAS COLOR PALETTE here .

I think knowing our color palette and the style and feel we want our Christmas homes to radiate gives us a huge head start and makes decorating so much easier and enjoyable.

Let’s walk down our long foyer and head toward the living room.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Let’s take a quick pause by the stairs.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

The stairs look a whole lot different than they did last Christmas! This past summer we painted them and added a runner.

They were originally golden oak. Lots and lots of golden oak! Two stories worth of stairs!

The trouble with painting golden oak is the strong and noticeable grain in the wood. My husband and son worked together and found a quite easy fix for making the wood look much smoother! And they used a sprayer to paint the spindles. It was a big project but so worth it!

I’ll share how we transformed our stairs after the first of the year.

Garland on the stairs would be overkill so I opted for greens, ribbons, and vintage-looking Christmas balls.

I also used my favorite battery-operated candles on every other stair. They look so pretty in the evening!

THE LIVING ROOM

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

THE WHITE BUFFET

The white buffet is the first thing you notice in the living room. And the little upholstered stools too.

I found them earlier this fall and could not resist! I put one on either side of the buffet. I’m a big fan of symmetry! You can see these well-made stools HERE . They come in several colors.

On top of each stool, I added buffalo check pillows and little frosted wreaths (see them HERE ). The wreaths also hang in every window in our home.

I added a bit of red to this end of the living room with the red plaid gifts. I like this wrapping paper because the pattern looks light and airy for a plaid.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

On top of the present is my favorite Christmas bow. Here is a post about CHRISTMAS RIBBONS AND BOWS with a little video about how to make these fluffy bows.

On the buffet are a few more Christmas trees from my collection.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Some of my trees, like the little one above, are decades old.

In the center of the buffet, I put together an easy arrangement in a hammered brass bowl.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Arrangements and vignettes are the backbone of my Holiday decor. They are easy to make and can be styled in so many ways!

HOW TO CREATE A HOLIDAY VIGNETTE STEP-BY-STEP will give you lots of ideas for making pretty Christmas arrangements too. And a peek at our Christmas sunroom.

The mantel this year has an asymmetrical garland.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

The lit garland was hung using four 3M hooks. Lots of bits and pieces of greens were added to this garland to make it look lush.

I repeated the crisp brown and white ribbon that is also on the tree and on the newel post of the stairs.

I cut the ribbon about 5 feet long to keep making the loops manageable. And then I cut the ends of the ribbon into a classic French V’s.

On a last-minute whim, I added red wooden beads to the garland too!

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

I hung tree stockings at the short garland end of the mantel along with a few vintage Christmas ornaments.

Can you tell which stockings is mine?

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

I kept the brown and white pillow on the spindle chair from the fall. I love these pretty little pillows and they worked with my Christmas color palette.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

THE COFFEE TABLE

In the middle-ish of the living room is the upholstered coffee table. This year I used a pretty glass mirror as a tray and added some of the smaller trees I collect that light up.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

And I added a bit of seeded eucalyptus.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Seeded eucalyptus is much airier and lighter than greens. It lets the reflective beauty and light of the mirror show through.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

THE CURLACUE CHEST

The Curlacue chest holds a white porcelain Holy Family.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Behind the little Nativity, I propped a light silhouette picture of Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and the star.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

THE CHRISTMAS TREE

This year, like last year, I used our heavily flocked Christmas tree.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

I decorated it with mostly white, brown, bronze, and neutral ornaments and ribbons. And I used just a little bit of red too!

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

I like a tree that is full of things to look at! Ornaments, ribbons, ornaments, berries, and big stems of something pretty!

This is the first year I used a tree collar. It was white so I spray painted it an antique bronze to work with my colors. I’m now a fan! What do you think? Do you like a tree collar or skirt?

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

I started to wrap some of our gifts to coordinate with our Christmas tree!

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Our six little grandchildren (6 and under) could not stop touching the tree! They especially LOVED jingling the jingle bells. And that made it snow all over the floor and they loved that too! And so did I!

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

I saw the wonder and magic of a Christmas tree through their eyes! Christmas is just so special with grandkids!

Now let’s head to the dining area…

THE DINING AREA

The dining area is on the backside of the Christmas tree! So when we are eating we can see the entire tree from the other side!

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

I got a new rug for this area. It came yesterday. I took advantage of the early Black Friday sales. I always get indoor/outdoor type rugs in our dining room. They are so much easier to clean up. You can see the new rug HERE .

This Christmas season I kept the decor rather simple.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

But simple can be so pretty! I put greens down the center of our table and looped the same brown and white ribbon through them.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

And then I added this beautiful Capiz leaf garland (see it HERE on sale now).

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

A shallow-footed bowl in the center of the table holds seven, ruby red pomegranates.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Well, friends, I have so much more to share with you like our Christmas kitchen…

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

And our sunroom…

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

And a couple bedrooms and more!

So stop back next Monday to see part 2 of our 2022 Merry And Bright Christmas Home Tour.

But now, please visit my very dear friend Julie at My Wee Abode . She is a California girl who is creative and one of the nicest people I know! When you stop by tell her I said Hi!

Just beautiful as always! I really love the brown and white ribbon throughout your displays. But I must say, my favorite were the arrangements on your stair posts. Love the sheer and striped ribbon together! So pretty! They deserve a diy post just by themselves. Wishing you a peaceful Christmas and good health. Thank you for all your hard work and sharing it with us!!

Hi Diana, thank you! Right now I have a horrid cold from the grandbabies, so I need a bit of good health! Merry Christmas!

I love your wreath at the front dorr. Did you create it by yourself?

And of course I love your whole decor in the house, too. : – )

Beautiful, as usual. How fortunate that Hobbes allows you to decorate the mantle- my Annie would bring it down faster than I could put it up.

Thanks, Emily! Merry Christmas.

I just love, love following your blog and all the creative ideas, how to and recipes you share. Your Christmas home tour is gorgeous and I have garnered many ideas. Would you please share how you attached the beautiful greens together, or did you use a teardrop swag on your newel post. My stair banister certainly would be an overkill but the greens would be perfect. I certainly could use any tips you would share. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

I used a small cedar garland and folded it in half. I tied it to the bow and then tied the garland to the newel post. I hope this helps. So glad you enjoyed the tour. Merry Christmas, Beverly!

Amazing!!! I love the white and silver deer art on your foyer table. Is that something that is still available?

Hi Cassie, Merry Christmas! The deer art is from a local shop.

Yvonne, everything beautifully elegant as always. In love with the white and silver reindeer art and would love the link to purchase. Have a great holiday season. Helen

Hi Helen, that reindeer is very popular! I found it at a local shop and I don’t have a source. Sorry.

I love your blog and forward to reading each week. Where did you get the baskets on the bottom of your console table and on the Carolina Room near the tree??? Also love the brown color lumbar like Fall pillow, where did you find that one?? So appreciate the links in the Christmas ? articles.

I found it locally, Sorry Sabrina. The lumbar pillows were from Amazon and are not in stock. Things right now are flying off the shelves. So sorry.

Yvonne, your home looks beautiful for the holiday season.

Hi Yvonne! I love your pops of red and your tree is stunning–pinned! You’ve created such a welcoming, festive entry. Wishing you a joyous Christmas season. Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

Cecilia, So sweet! Merry Christmas

I just love your elegant Christmas decor ! Where did you get that beautiful round wicker tray under your coffe table I have the same kind of ottoman and was looking for something exactly like that and also what size is it .

I found the basket tray at Wayfair. However, I don’t see it there anymore. Look on Wayfair, they have others you might like, Debbie.

Yvonne, your Christmas decor this year is spot on! It is so perfect, you have inspired me to use red next year.Bless you for sharing your beautiful decor with your followers. Have a wonderful Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

How sweet, Susan! I was surprised at how much I love red in our home.

Really beautiful! Love the color scheme and the nativity vignette is perfection!

Your home is so lovely. Such gorgeous details. So fun hopping with you this week. I adore your mantle decor.

Thank you, Renae.

Your home looks so cozy and inviting for the holidays, Yvonne. I love every detail. Christmas perfection! Happy to be hopping with you this week. Pinned!

Thanks, Jen! Merry Christmas.

Yvonne! Your home is definitely Merry and Bright! You have been blessed with the gift of decorating and curating a beautiful home and it blesses so many besides just your family! Thank you for sharing your home with us and the special touches and memories. I could just hear your grandkids laughing touching the tree and bells! Merry Christmas my friend and thanks for joining the tour!

Oh, Kelly! How sweet! I’m so thrilled to be part of your tour! Beautiful homes, beautiful women.

Itā€™s all beautiful! I especially love the deer picture in your foyer. Like you, Iā€™m not a collector but I do collect trees and deer for my Christmas vignettes. I use those little battery operated mini lights too. They are set to come on a 4:00 and off at 10:00. They lend that magical touch. My colour palette is mostly white with touches of gold and very small additions of red. Looking forward to the rest of your home tour.

Sounds so beautiful!

Beautiful as always!!!

Thank you, Andrea! I loved sharing our home with you!

Loved your tour! It’s always gorgeous!! Thanks so much for all the ideas!

Can you tell me where you found the framed quote ā€œThe Lord bless you and keep youā€.

Here you go Kay: https://rstyle.me/+asiVZJz4zFnvERel1fh6dg

SOOOOO clean, light, bright and merry – Love everything Yvonne!! Would you mind sharing the source for the beautiful white footed bowl which is holding the pomegranates? LOVE it! Christmas blessings!

Yvonne, your home looks Christmas Beautiful! I love everything about it. I can’t wait to see your post in January about your stair redo. Merry Christmas!

Absolutely gorgeous!!!!

Wow! Your home looks gorgeous for the holiday season. Everything is so elegant and pretty! Love that tree! Pinned.

Thanks, AnnMarie

Your home looks beautiful for the holiday season!

Thanks Kim! Merry Christmas.

Okay… next year, for sure, I want to come at Christmas time! Tanglewood looks amazing, as always. I have to agree, the last minute decision to use the red beads on the mantel was a GREAT idea! And I thought I had a lot of ornaments on my tree! I have to go get my bins out of storage to fill all the ‘holes’ in my tree now! šŸ˜‰ Can’t wait to see the kitchen and the sunroom… and the bedrooms, as well! LOVE those prints at the end of the counter! Love you, and always love working with you!

Yes, come at Christmastime next year! Lancaster has so much to do!

Merry and bright indeed Yvonne! The red is a big hit this year and I think you found the perfect balance. Everything is lovely and inviting as always. I love the mirror that you used as a tray on the ottoman. I want to try something like that on our round ottoman. Thank you for the inspiration! Happy Christmas!

Thank you Michelle! Merry Christmas!

Very beautiful and unique this yezr.. Some great deas gleamed. Thank you. I did try the link “Making A Bow” for wreath making but got a 404 error..page no longer exists. Hope you can fix that. Thank you

Sorry about that Susan, here you go: https://www.stonegableblog.com/christmas-ribbon-and-bows/

Stunning simplicity. Cozy yet elegant. Perfection! Thanks for sharing ?. Iā€™m in love with the sunroom rug. Did you have it in your other home – do you have a source for it?

Hi! I love that added some color in your rooms. It really refreshā€™s the decor. Thanks for the tour. Iā€™ll be back to view more?

I think so too! I’m just thinking about what color I can use for winter.

I loved the tour! Where did you find the three Santa-reindeer prints hanging on the wall at the end of your counter?

Hi Cheryl, they are a digital image that I had printed. See them here: https://rstyle.me/+KF99q9LEvHaISec3m95k6w

Beautiful tour, Yvonne! Love how your tree sits between the living and dining area so you can enjoy it all around.

Thanks, Lora. The tree can be seen from almost all of our downstairs rooms.

I love your touch of red throughout and the way you looped the ribbon in your garland! All beautiful!

I noticed you don’t show that beautiful mango bookshelf from this past spring or summer. I am in love with that. Would you be willing to share where you purchased it? I live about an hour away from your area and would love to drive down to the store and shop.

Hi Linda, I loved that bookshelf too. But it was really too big for the foyer so I gave it to a sweet young family. I found it at The Treasure Place in Intercourse. Hope this helps.

Wow Yvonne! Your home looks so beautiful! I adore that mirror! It’s incredible! Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas, Stacy!

Yvonne, Your home looks lovely this Christmas season!! The plaid pillows and touches of red are just the right touch of elegance and added interest. Lovely!!! Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to see the bedrooms! How do you keep your cat from creating mayhem with your Christmas tree? I heard cats are famous /infamous for climbing into trees. Nancee

Our cat, for some strange reason, has never touched the tree. Fingers crossed that he won’t this year.

I can’t tell you how much you inspire me with your home tours, Yvonne. Every detail is so beautiful from the little trees displayed throughout your gorgeous house to the bowl of pomegranates on the table. I am amazed by your talent when it comes to holiday ribbons. Both your Christmas tree and mantel are just stunning. Happy holidays!

You are just the sweetest, Kim! I feel the same way when I come to visit your home too! Merry Christmas!

You always so do Christmas so beautifully! I love all the pretty touches (especially that reindeer), Merry Christmas to you and your family. xx

Your holiday home is absolutely stunning, Yvonne! I love how elegant, yet cozy and inviting your home is! Your creativity and talent is such an inspiration. I am so happy to be touring with you. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

I’ve always looked forward to your Christmas tours every year, and this one is just as stunning as ever, Yvonne! I LOVE your small touches of red this year. And I’m pinning that mantel garland for sure. It’s gorgeous. Have a very Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas, Kate!

Hi Yvonne, I just was curious how you fit the tree in a ā€œ collar ā€œ. Would that work with a real tree? It looks like a big planter. Looks lovely! Marianne

Hi Marianne, what a great question. The tree color comes in four parts. They click together with a magnet. You would have to know the measurements of your tree stand and then make sure it fits a collar. This is the first year we used a tree collar and won’t go back! Merry Christmas, Marianne.

Lovely house. So warm and inviting. May I ask where you bought the buffet? Thanks.

Hi Carol, I found it at Wayfair. Sorry, they don’t carry it any longer.

Yvonne, your home is beautifully decorated for the holiday season! Where did you get the silhouette in the frame behind the holy family. I love the idea! Merry Christmas!!

Hi Leslie, I found it here: https://rstyle.me/+jK-zgkNyH3UaY7J3wHhdYg

Your home is so lively, warm and inviting. I love all the white! Hoping you feel better soon so your holiday season is magical. Merry Christmas.

Thanks, Cindy!

Hello, I don’t leave replies often, but I had to reply this time. Your home is absolutely beautiful in all its Christmas decor! You did an amazingly festive job! Love it! Your tree is exquisite, and I like the idea that you used it again this year. All rooms shown are beautiful, and I am looking forward to viewing part two. Merry Christmas!

Thanks so much, Sandi. Merry Christmas.

Yvonne, I have been admiring your beautiful flocked tree for years. We decided to invest in fake tree this year and I’m wondering where you got yours. Would you mind passing on that to me?

Hi Cindy, We love our tree. It’s on the slim side and fits nicely in our living room. Here is is: https://rstyle.me/+8G6EEAomLrRLD18-5Scouw

Wow! Thereā€™s so much to love! I am definitely taking some ideas with me: The simple White Mary, Joseph and Jesus figurines with the picture of Bethlehem in the background, and just the perfect votives on each side to give it importance; the white bowl in the kitchen with pomegranates; your kitchen curtains, the understated beauty of your decorating. Itā€™s all so beautiful! Thank you for the tour. I loved it very much.

Sweet Mary, thank you so much! Merry Christmas.

Stunning home tour, I love your style, everything about your decor speaks to my love of classic design.xx

Thank you so much, Janette! Merry Christmas.

Thank you for sharing your Beautiful home! You are so blessed with talent, I’m always in awe.

Merry Christmas. Rose.

Love the white reindeer print sitting on the chest in the foyer. Where did you get it? Do you know if it is still available? Everything is beautiful!

Thank you! I found the Reindeer locally. Sorry, I don’t have a source.

Christmas Pasts

As the only child of a single mom, we had a some Christmases that felt a little small and quiet.

And if I’m being vulnerable, some felt a bit sad…like something was missing.

During those times, I always thought ahead to the someday when I would have my own family.

I would picture what I hoped Christmas would be like and now I try to make it happen.

Christmas Video Home Tour: Welcome!

For those of you who are new to my page, Hello! Iā€™m Jessica, wife to Cody, and mom to 2 boys and a girl, who are SO lucky because everyday with me is like an episode of carpool karaoke! They get a ride and a show! (OK, so Iā€™m not a great singer, but do have enthusiasm). I have a background in architecture and designed this home that we just built in a small Texas town. We self-contracted the build, and now I’m working on a guide to help other families do the same! Most days you can find me on Instagram @the.old.barn

Significance of Making Memories

Maybe that’s why this time of year is so important to me. It’s why I try to make sure my family has fun, rich, beautiful memories at Christmas time.

Throughout this tour, I talk a bit about decor and try to give ideas and tips you can use in your own home, but I also talk about family time and making memories.

That’s the good stuff.

While we want our home to be beautiful at Christmastime, we also want it to be the setting for cherished time spent with those we love.

I like to decorate early, so I can spend the rest of the season doing all the fun things, like baking, puzzles, sipping cocoa while watching Christmas movies…

The green and white plates were a happy thrift store find that I was so excited about because they look just like the ones my mom had when I was little.

Items that have memories attached are always special!

I love how they work great for this Christmas setting, but could really also work year-round like for a garden party in the spring, St. Patrick’s Day, any day!

Vintage Home Designs Christmas Home Tour 2022

Weā€™re so excited to share another tour with you! Michele of @VintageHomeDesigns is a viewer favorite on our YouTube channel and blog. If youā€™ve seen Micheleā€™s home before youā€™re going to love seeing all fresh holiday design ideas in her home.

ENTRY & STAIRS

From the front door there is so much to take in. No one does neutrals better than Michele Howell. Every year something new catches my eye. This year the faded pinecone garland draped across the mirror in the entry was my favorite. Michele picked them up from one of her travels. She likes to thrifting, estate sales and flea markets.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

DINING ROOM

Micheleā€™s dining area is directing in front of her staircase. So many of the pieces like the dining room table are found treasures. On top of the table are bottle brush trees and cloches filled with nativities.

Simple garland with ribbon drape the stairs. This is different from last year and the year before. Michele uses things in different spaces and unique ways so everything looks fresh and new.

The tree, however, looks the same year to year. Itā€™s filled with vintage cards, ornaments, sprigs of garland and shards of glass. The reflection in the neutral tree is so beautiful!

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

LIVING ROOM

The family room is so warm and inviting. There is a new addition of soldiers guarding the hearth. And they are a drug store find, believe it or not. The signature white garland of Michele drapes the mantel and houses and bottle brush trees line the shelves.

We always love the massive carriage house doors decorated with wreaths. Michele DIYā€™d these with grapevine wreaths that she pulled apart to give them some whimsey, then added sprigs of evergreen and ribbon to complete the look.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

SITTING AREA

The sitting room off the kitchen is a favorite place to hang out. Itā€™s cozy and warm and the chef can interact with family and friends from the kitchen. The layers of rugs are another fun thing Michele does very well. Most people just layer a rectangle on top of another rectangle rug. Michele layers in different directions just to mix it up!

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

BREAKFAST NOOK

The breakfast nook off the kitchen is so whimsical and charming. Ironstone bowels filled with paper whites make the perfect table display! And hutches are lined with Christmas trees. Nature inspired touches are throughout!

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

PRIMARY BEDROOM

The primary bedroom is the coziest with the warm wood on the vaulted ceiling. Toy soldiers are on display on the dresser and a simple tree in the corner. We love her big tobacco basket with a wreath layered over it.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

The guest room is simply the sweetest! The neutrals pack a punch here too! Last year Michele did a Christmas tree with plates on the wall. This year she brought the idea into the guest room using vintage silver trays. Iā€™m not sure which item did it better.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

We always enjoy the outdoor space at Micheleā€™s. The outdoor dining table changes all the time. Pop a cork and this table is ready to host a party!

The mantel is dressed with greenery and stockings are hung by the fire. The great thing about living in Texas is this space can be enjoyed year round!

Christmas Home Tour 2020

I know Iā€™m not alone when I say I canā€™t believe how this year has flown by. It feels like one season is fading into the next without the distinct shifts we get in a ā€œnormalā€ year. With 2020 being so challenging for most of us, we wanted to get cozy and make the season special. Mom and I are so happy with how her home turned out for Christmas. In the video youā€™ll see that it even made her cry when we were talking about the dining room and what matter most about the season.

Cozy Christmas Home Tour

Our cozy christmas home tour featuring a non-traditional Ā colour scheme and holiday decor in white, cream, gold, brass, and wood..

Wow, I can hardly believe it’s Christmas home tour time, again! I’m thrilled to be sharing our cozy Christmas home tour. I have to confess I’ve not been loving the feel of our living/dining room space the last few months. But recently I painted, added some new drapes, and put up a mural. I also rearranged all the furniture and, combined with the decor changes, it gave the space a completely different feel. I love it so much more, and it feels doubly cozy now with our neutral holiday decor touches.

Seasonal Simplicity Christmas Home Tours

Today I’ve joined some of my blogging friends who are also sharing their homes decorated for the holidays. Be sure to visit their Christmas Home Tours by visiting the links I’ve shared at the bottom of today’s post.

I’m starting off the tour today, but make sure to head on to Jen, at Rambling Renovators, next on today’s house hop! Her holiday home is beautiful. Welcoming and elegant, cozy yet refined: Traditional and Classic Christmas Tour at Rambling Renovators.

Cozy Christmas Home Tour 2022

I shared our neutral Christmas tree decor ideas last week and it felt really good to get back to blogging after a long stretch off. While I usually share a TON of holiday content, I had to take a step back this fall for a variety of reasons. I shared these in my Christmas tree decor post last week.Ā

A newĀ  approachĀ

This year, I took a really different approach. I cut buck immensely on the amount of “Christmas” I added to our home! Instead of feeling like I had to use everything I owned, I instead focused on unity and harmony. I tried to create a simpler, more cohesive look that flows naturally throughout our home. Using only my favourite things plus a few new finds, I stayed pretty neutral with our decor. These white, cream, gold, brass and wood Christmas decorations complement our existing textiles and colours instead of competing with them.

Changes to this space

The green curtains are a new addition, and I love them! Green velvet, from Amazon, and super affordable. Find them here. I was inspired to change them to balance out all the colour I added to the other end of the room with the new mural in our dining room. I’ll be sharing the dining room tomorrow, along with our front porch and pops of holiday decor in the foyer and Christmas.

Did you notice the new paint colour on the walls? It’s not longer the bright white we painted it before we moved in. I’ll be sharing more details about the why; but the walls are now painted with Benjamin Moore’s Halo. It’s an airy green-greige that gives our space a completely different feel!

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

I also decorated just one tree, and changed the placement of it, along with the placement of our furniture in the dining rom. It was fun to rearrange our furnishings this year, and I like how much more open it feels between the living room and dining room now.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Non-traditional Christmas Colour Scheme

Green is the theme in our space, with the majority of the actual Christmas decor being white, cream, gold, brass, or wood. I love the cozy feel that these neutrals add to our home, and they blend well with my non-traditional green and clay colour scheme.

Our Cozy Neutral Christmas Tree DecorĀ

You can see and read more details about our cozy neutral Christmas tree decor in this article.

The tree is definitely the focal point of this whole space, as it sits right between the dining room and living room areas of our great room. I decorated it first, and then brought in the rest of our decor pieces based on whether they flowed well with our tree. It all feels so much more cohesive than it has in past years. This makes us feel cozy and peaceful to spend our long winter evenings in here.

I’ll be back tomorrow to share our dining room area, as well as pops of holiday decor touches in our kitchen, foyer, and on the front porch.

Love your holiday home Krista! The color palette is so soothing and decor is so festive!

I love how quiet the room feels with your decor. May I ask where you found the Santa print over the fireplace? It adds such a magical feel but it’s not over the top and goes well with the room. Merry Christmas!

I love all your little details, Krista! The garland on the mantel is simply adorable and your tree is so beautiful! Merry Christmas my friend!

Your home is so inviting Krista! I love the wood tones, warm whites mixed with the sage greens and the slightest hints of pink. It’s such a soft and cozy palette.

2022 Annual Christmas Home Tour

It’s 2022 Christmas Home tour day! We’ve had quite the year and I think this year, more than ever, I was desperate for the reward of embracing our house, covered in twinkle lights and happiness. My energy heading into the season wasn’t at peak performance level, but the more we did, the more motivated I was to see it through so we could enjoy the outcome.

As I do each year, I worked to mix color combos and dig into bins to revive decor that hasn’t been out in a while. I used a lot of stuff in different ways, some stuff in identical ways to last year, and also, as always, there’s still plenty left in the basement bins that will have to wait to see if next year is the year it comes out of hiding to be incorporated. Some spaces, I concept — at least generally in terms of color — a year in advance, and some spaces I concept on the fly, as I’m digging into bins.

We have multiple rooms that are in “transition” which limited some of our efforts — and I’ll share those as we go along — but there’s also some peeks of spaces that haven’t been shared just yet.

If you like elaborate Christmas decor, I have some of that. If you like simple Christmas decor, I have some of that, too. And if you prefer nostalgic, meaningful Christmas decor that’s family-centric, well, you’ll find that today, also šŸ˜‰ Whether you’re a first time visitor or you’ve been a regular reader for a while, thank you for stopping in and for checking in on us today. Welcome and let’s head on in!

*Available sources can be found below photos throughout the post.

Full disclosure — we’re actually starting with a brief time travel back to last December, first, haha. I never have our outdoor decor finished by Home Tour Day, so if you didn’t come back to KN after last year’s tour, this could be the first time you’re seeing our these. We have out lights up and I’m hoping we’ll have the rest completed by Thanksgiving. I’ll definitely come back later when everything’s finished because I’m excited about a classic addition I’ve wanted to incorporate, literally, for 10 years that we’re finally doing this year.

Outdoor Christmas Lights and Decor

Y’all, I love THESE faux magnolia branches Ā so much (if you’re a regular, you know this, haha) that I created the exact same arrangement in the entry as last year. I use them throughout fall and carry them through winter, too. I’ve invested with several at a time over the past few years so you’ll probably spy them in spots all around the house.

I don’t think I ever buy anything for bowls. My go-to move is to use leftovers or random finds in my old bins (strands, pinecones, balls, beads, bells, etc.) and toss them together. I love mixing matte/rustic items with shiny (like wooden beads and ornaments), or, in this case, pinecones and brass bells.

Dining Room

I said it last year and I’ll say it again — this is the time of year when I most love our dark, moody dining room. Everything I used, I already had, and some deep red hues are making their way out of hibernation for the first time in a while.

This crystal piece was my late grandmother’s and while it usually sits empty (it doesn’t hold water), faux berry branches made the perfect simple centerpiece.

2022 Christmas Home Tour

I think this is the first year I didn’t break out at least a few candlesticks, but I didn’t want to detract from the simplicity. And with only deep red ornament balls, the lightly flocked tree is uncomplicated and modest.

More and more, I’m appreciating the juxtaposition of organic meets glitz. And that especially shines through with the Christmas decor. It’s how I designed our dining room mini makeover — using most of the major pieces that were already in our room — and mixing them with more earthy elements, like THESE cement-style lamps .

Conversation Room

Directly across from the dining room, our conversation room awaits. I say this is the most “special” room at Christmas because it’s where the majority of the nostalgia and special family memories live. Situated next to our cabinet of family mementos (see the details and styling tips HERE ) is our family tree, filled with ornaments collected over the years.

I wrote a post last year with five tips to decorate a family Christmas tree HERE . No ornaments are off limits and everything goes. Eliza decorated the family tree with me this year and I loved her reaction to unwrapping each ornament. We’ll be decorating my mom’s tree later this week and with decades and decades of memories, it’s probably my favorite tree to tackle.

My mom also gifts Eliza a new interactive animal that moves/sings each Christmas season, so they all live at the base of the tree. I call it “home base” so after Eliza’s finished playing with them, she knows to take them back to “home base” for the night.

This tree is where Eliza’s book advent basket lives, too. You can find the details on that tradition we started last year HERE . I boxed up all the books last Christmas, and re-wrapped them all this year. I only subbed out a few of the more basic ones with new additions.

I just purchased THIS huge, heavy strand of two-toned terracotta beads on clearance and shared the score on Instagram. They quickly were made unavailable to ship but at time of publishing, they are BACK and available to ship! They retailed for $129 (these things are big! ) but are on clearance for $37.99 HERE ! I will be using them year-round but I couldn’t wait to get them on display.

Kitchen / Breakfast Nook

Remember my kitchen update post I shared recently ( HERE )? Well, we don’t have the walls painted just yet and the breakfast nook is in heavy transition (I just sold the sideboard today since the new one arrives tomorrow!), but we have made some more progress! I kept things really simple and minimal in both spaces since we could very well have painters/electricians in the house before the end of the year, working toward finishing these off.

Living Room Christmas decor Ideas with Green

I’m just now realizing this may be the first time I’ve shared the living room with our new leather chairs Ā (mine are in vintage midnight). I first sat in them, in store, almost two years ago and fell in love with how comfortable they were. Fast forward to this spring and I finally ordered a pair. they come in several leather colors and options, and a few wood finishes. When the tree isn’t up, they won’t be next to the window — they’ll actually be pulled in closer to the sofa for more of an intimate conversation setting.

You can find my most visited blog post — a tutorial on how I add ribbon to the Christmas tree — HERE . This was the first year I left some of the ribbon tails out, in an effort to conserve a little of the ribbon, and I love the result! To cut a ‘v’ in the tail, I just fold the end of the ribbon in half and cut at a diagonal across — the same I would for a bow on a gift.

2022 Christmas Home Tour

My favorite tree addition this year were THESE natural berry picks I found on Amazon, though. I ordered the pinkish green and was so pleased with how they look and feel in person. You’ll see them incorporated into the garland on the mantel, too. I know these will be a staple in the coming years, regardless of the themes and schemes I come up with.

Going with greens and naturals made it so easy to hit up my pillow stash and pull out some favorites I had on hand. THIS 22″ charcoal windowpane pillow has been a sofa staple for a few seasons now and transitioned from fall to holiday easily. It will stay in place through winter, too. You can find it at my fave pillow shop HERE . I’m really crushing on a lot of their pillows right now, especially THIS one …

I had ordered a few new pieces — namely wooden nutcrackers and bells well over a month ago, but with severe shipping delays, they still haven’t shipped. I’ll wait and hopefully use them next year.

I have two new Christmas decor additions this year though, that I adore. The first are these handcrafted wooden trees . They are exquisite in person and the craftsman is so talented. I can’t get over the tiny cuts.

The other is THIS handcrafted terracotta nativity . I have several nativity sets (I think I have five on display this year?!) and adore the large one I got last year, but it’s so big, with so many pieces, I didn’t have a spot for it this year. THIS one is perfectly sized for a shelf or table without commanding too much space requirement. I plan to use this one year after year.

I think the garland is the most fun to embellish because it’s big enough to get creative, but small enough where you don’t run out of steam. Here’s this year’s version…

I added in faux berries and cedar (or juniper, maybe?), live magnolia and eucalyptus, and bells to the sides. I found these bells at Hobby Lobby last year so I’m not sure if they brought them back, but I LOVE all the bells at McGee & Co. HERE , especially THESE. (on sale now!). Here’s the caveat though — I ordered some Christmas decor from them a while ago and they are experiencing big lags; I can’t say confidently that they would arrive in time this year.

Eliza hid one of our stocking hooks so I had to order a new set — I was thankful Amazon still had them in stock ( HERE ) — they really have been the best, pretty, simple hooks!

The base of my garland is still my trusty Costco garland and I love to embellish the heck out of it. It’s a great go-to, classic pine garland for a great base, or even on its own. I wrote a post a couple years ago about my garland method HERE .

I also use the Costco garland on our banisters and railing. I embellished it similarly but not quite as much. I also didn’t embellish the entire strands. I focused around the post, took some of the fillers upwards just a bit, and then let the rest of the garland stand on its own. A great time and money saver šŸ˜‰

On the console, I’ve displayed our framed Christmas card photos, again. I have a mish-mosh of pale wooden/natural frames and still have a few in back-stock for the coming years. This year’s cards are set to arrive on Friday so I’ll be glad to get it displayed with the others. I also pulled out a sparse faux pine I’ve had for at least 15 years, for the first time in a few years. I housed it inside a fluted PB planter I have since it’s in the off-season and isn’t currently on duty outside.

2022 Christmas Home Tour

Because the tree and garland are so… extra (haha), it feels good to give the rest of the space a little bit of breathing room with some simplicity, clean linens, and just moments of strategically placed elements of glitz for cohesiveness and to tie the room together.

Welp, this may be the first year I don’t have a tree in the bedroom. I didn’t have the energy but I’m already missing it so I don’t know if I’ll really make it through the season without on. I may end up bringing one up and leaving it bare… we’ll see, haha. I may even rob Eliza’s playroom of a slim tree for the corner…

Eliza’s Bedroom

But even though our bedroom isn’t as spirited as it has been in the past (sad), I couldn’t wait to get in Eliza’s room. First — a quick story. As you probably know, we started transitioning Eliza to a big girl bedroom last year. I ordered her bed LAST YEAR . So, after Christmas last year, I went ahead and grabbed everything I needed to give her a purple tree to go with her new purple bedroom. Um… that poor girl still doesn’t have a bed. The original bed was finished and shipped in February. When it stopped progressing in the tracker, I continually called. Finally, in April, they admitted it was lost and they had to order a new one to be made. That order was on backorder for a while and then finally, I thought she was going to get her bed. This one made it to our house in September. Well, actually, it made it to the street in front of our house. When the delivery people started taking it out of the truck, they realized it had been essentially demolished in transit and there wasn’t a single salvageable piece to leave. Bed attempt #3 — I’ve been told it’s on its way to the delivery center and I should be getting a call to schedule delivery any day now… this has been going on a few weeks though so I won’t hold my breath, haha. So, she still doesn’t have her purple bedroom and is perfectly content with her mattress on the floor… but she still got a purple tree šŸ˜‰ And it’s my favorite she’s ever had in her room…

It’s just a shame she doesn’t have a bedroom to give the full, coordinating effect. But that’s me — not her. She is thrilled with this little corner magic. I surprised her with it when she got home from school one day and it was all worth it. (Until she was distracted by a tennis ball and switched focus 1.5 minutes after seeing her tree and room additions, haha).

Little Girls Purple Christmas Decor for their Bedroom

I continue to shop the spring florals (they are always on such deep discount at craft stores by fall!) and these pretty little buds just made her tree.

And speaking of my mom, she gifted Eliza this precious miniature wooden nativity and it will be a keepsake forever. It’s crafted in the UK but arrives really quickly.

I mixed in trees from the collection we’ve acquired over the years, with a few new ones in her color scheme. And I found these cute little houses in the Target dollar spot a few months ago (they may still have them?!) — they were $5/pack of two.

Eliza couldn’t get enough of the holiday decorating this year, which made me really excited for the years to come. She used some of the most colorful decor that we already had and decorated her playroom. Here are a few snippets — I love her creative little imagination and she was so proud.

It’s all so beautiful! Where did you get the fancier ornaments on the living room tree? I didn’t see a link but maybe I missed it!

Hi Lauren, I’ve had some of those for years and others come from AtHome this year. Thank you for taking the time to visit!

Once again, Kelley, your keen eye for design is evident. I especially love the main treeā€™s green tones and Elizaā€™s gorgeous tree. Breathtaking!

Lisa, Thank you so much for your sweet note. I really appreciate you following along with us and hope you have a wonderful holiday season.

Just fabulous! Love the shades of green…and the purple! Full of warmth and charm with a little glam!

Kristie, Thank you for visiting and taking the time to leave your kind note. I do believe the green and purple trees are two of my all time favorites!

The entire home is just stunning as usual! And Eliza’s tree is just beyond darling. Why did it make me emotional about my own daughter at Christmas time? Ha!! I would love to take the time to create meaningful spaces like that. Eliza will have priceless childhood memories Way to go, Kelley! God Bless!!

Moriah, Thank you for your sweet note and kind blessing. Choosing a color scheme and decorating Eliza’s tree is alway a high point in the season for me. I hope she remembers every bit of the magic of the season

Your home is stunning!! You have such an eye for detail. Loved every room you decorated for Christmas. Trees are amazing too. Thank you for sharing your talents.

Hi Laurie, Thank you for visiting and for taking the time to leave a note. I love this time of year and hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

You are THE QUEEN of Christmas trees! Your house looks so amazing, you certainly covered the spectrum this year! So beautiful. I particularly love your main tree in the big room ,but, Eliza’s tree is just perfection! The colours, the florals and the ribbon! Have a wonderful Christmas together and I am looking forward to your upcoming posts. God bless.

Heather, Thank you so much for your very kind note and sweet blessing! Eliza’s tree is always so fun to do and I think the main tree is one of my all time favorites. I hope you and yours have a magical Christmas season!

Everything is so beautiful! Do you have the link and/or dimensions for the tray the nativity set is sitting on in Eliza’s room?

Hi Janet, Thank you for taking the time to visit! Eliza’s nativity set is sitting on a marble coaster that I’ve had for years. The dimensions are approximately 4″ x 6″.

Oh my what a fabulous home tour, I actually think you are the queen of Christmas decorations. I love your home all through the year but Christmas is my favourite. Every tree is stunning, every surface beautifully decorated. Thank you for another fabulous tour.

Wendy, Thank you so much for visiting and for your kind note. I really appreciate you following along with us through the years!

Kelley, this is such a beautiful Christmas tour of your lovely home. I saved some of the pictures to use as background on my computer…and to add to my favorites of two years ago! Your beautiful creations are such an inspiration to me! God bless you and your precious little family šŸ’•šŸ™‡

Paula, Thank you for taking the time to visit and for your sweet blessings. I am incredibly flattered that you are using my pictures as the background on your computer. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

Just simply stunning (as always). I love your restraint by adding until it’s just enough. So elegant. So warm. So beautiful. (If you wake up some morning and your family room tree is missing, don’t blame me . . . )

Sharon, I appreciate your sweet comments so much! You are so right that it would be much easier to put out all of the things… But I’ve learned through the years that if I don’t bring out a favorite Christmas item this year, it will make an appearance the next year or the next. Thank you for following along with us!

So beautiful, stunning and serene. You have a fabulous eye.

Lynn, Thank you for taking the time to visit and for your kind note. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season!

Everything is so beautiful! I especially love the red with your dark dining room and completely agree that the flowers in Eliza’s tree are the shining star <3.

Hi April, I so appreciate you taking the time to stop by and for your kind note. Thank you for noticing my simple tree in the dining room. It was the perfect place to incorporate the dark red. And Eliza’s purple tree is one of my favorites. Happy holidays to you and yours!

Kelly all of your Christmas trees and decor are stunning. I canā€™t pick a fav this year! šŸŒ²

Vanessa, I always appreciate your sweet support! Thank you for taking the time to visit.

Elegant and stunning! I love how you use non traditional Christmas colors in some rooms and it is still so beautiful and timeless.

Hi Lauren, Thank you for visiting and for taking the time to leave a note. Merry Christmas!

Youā€™re the best Kelley! Everything is just beautiful.

Ann, You are too kind and I so appreciate you taking the time to visit!

I absolutely love the green tree! My kitchen has pale green granite and is open to dining and living rooms.. I have been looking for some pale green ornaments. Thanks for the idea of just spray painting some old ones. Could you please tell me the brand and color of the paint you used?

Thank you, Sherry! The color is Breezeway by Behr in a satin finish. I hope this helps!

It’s all so gorgeous! Where did you get your outdoor red Christmas bows?

Gail, Thank you for taking the time to visit! My outdoor red bows came from Hobby Lobby.

Love it! So Beautiful!!!!

Dina, Thank you so much for your sweet note. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

Everything was amazing. I am so excited that I saw your post today. What a talented young lady you are. Keep doing what you do you have a gift.

Hi Reba, Thank you so much for visiting. I truly appreciate your kind and thoughtful note. I hope you’ll visit again this season, as my Christmas decorating will soon be underway.

Love your ideas & decorating. Thank you for the inspirations!

Thank you for taking the time to visit, Cathy, and for your kind note. Holiday decorating for this year is right around the color. I hope you’ll come back to visit soon!

Christmas Home Tour 2022

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Hello, dear friends and welcome to my Christmas Home Tour!

If you’re coming over from Dannyelle’s lovely home at Life is a Party , I’m so glad you’re here!

I don’t share our holiday home every year because, honestly, I rarely change up my decor. Yep. I literally open everything up and place it pretty much in the same place each year, and that suits me just fine. So, there really is no need to share photos of the very same decor in the exact same place every year, right?

This year, I did move a few things around, and I bought a couple of new things, so when my beautiful friend Krista of The Happy Housie shared that she was putting together a holiday home tour, I decided I would join in the fun!

Welcome to our holiday home!

(There’s me…and a random white van!)

The Dining Room

When you enter the front door of our home, our dining room is just to the left.

This is in stark contrast to our skeleton dinner party dining room lol! (Now that’s my holiday!)

Red and White Christmas Decor

My decor, as most of you know, is quite neutral. Lots of white with very little color, so when it comes time to decorate for Christmas, I love adding COLOR!

I love bold pops of red throughout.

Christmas Home Tour

You’ll also see that I love to gather things on trays. It makes them easier to move if need-be.

This tray was a silver thrift store find that I added gold gilding wax to the rim of to make it work with the golds in there, and assorted greenery makes for great filler.

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

I kept the hutch simple…

Red and White Christmas Decor

In this corner of our dining room is one of three trees in our house this year…

Red and Gold Christmas Decor

It’s mostly simple glass ornaments in red and gold…

Red and Gold Christmas Decor

I used to decorate it in all gold, but I added the red this year. Our real tree is in the living room, and our bedroom houses tree number three. But today, we’ll just be visiting the downstairs.

Red and Gold Christmas Decor

I had this gold mirror that I picked up ages ago at the thrift store and it worked great layered on my larger mirror to bring some gold to that side…

Red and Gold Christmas Decor

I layered a simple wreath right on top of it.

Layer mirrors for added depth

And this was the perfect spot for my Christmas box I redid a couple of weeks ago…

Christmas Box

It was an old flatware box that was super plain. I intended to use it to hold our Christmas cards, but I like to display those, so I have it holding the cards of Christmases past instead.

Our staircase got a little fluffing up as well.

Christmas staircase

And if you pass the staircase, you’ll end up in our kitchen!

The Kitchen

Christmas Kitchen

Our kitchen was a dark hole when we moved in five years ago.

You can see what it looked like before in our kitchen makeover reveal HERE .

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Using a tray on our island to display Christmas decor is is necessary in our house since it gets moved several times a day!

Christmas Kitchen Decor

As you can see not only do I love red at the holidays, I also love a touch of whimsy!

This little snowman is new this year. He’s one of three I bought at a craft market Thanksgiving weekend.

How cute is he?

Cute snowman decor

I wish now that I had kept the artist’s card to share, but she is from Tennessee. There’s another from her in our living room.

My shelves in here got a couple of Christmas touches as well…

Christmas in the Kitchen

I found this snowman a couple of years ago…I just love snowmen!

Christmas in the Kitchen

Only 19 days till Christmas, y’all! Can you even believe it?

Here is another snowman I bought from a different artist…

Just look at that sweet face…

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Looking back from the living room…

Christmas Kitchen

The Living Room

I’ll conclude our tour in the living room!

The kitchen opens up to the living space…

Red and White Christmas Decor

I normally have a sofa table at the back of the sectional there, but it and the lamps that were on it obstructed the view lol.

Don’t look at the seams that need ironing on the skirt of my slipcover…I said don’t look! Ha ha…I need to pull it down a couple of inches while I’m at it…oh well.

We keep our real tree with our “real” ornaments in this room since this is where we gather.

Red and White Christmas Decor

This tree is filled with my most special ornaments!

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

Thank you again, Mary! šŸ™‚

Red and White Christmas Decor

We use our table in here to gather around for Christmas games, so I put this decor on a tray as well to make it easy to move…

christmas home tour 2022 youtube

That little shadow box was made from a thrift store clock HERE .

And this is another of the snowpeople I bought this year…

Cute snowman

I loved how every one the lady had was different and unique.

I usually put our tree in this corner where this chair lives, but the trees were unusually skinny this year, so it fit in the other corner.

Red and White Christmas Decor

And a view from that corner looking back…

Red and White Christmas Decor

And that is our Christmas 2022 home tour!

I hope you enjoyed it since it may be a while until I share it again!

The next stop on the tour takes you to the gorgeous home of Jenn from Clean and Scentsible !

There are eight holiday homes in all to see today and eight more on Wednesday!

Your home looks beautiful, perfectly festive and I so enjoyed ‘looking’ around. Those snowmen figures are adorable. I have to admit I bring out the same boxes year after year, but they hold so many memories and every year I add a little something, I have far to much for my tiny home, but who cares, its Christmas. Thanks so much for sharing.xx

It’s lovely, Christy, and thank- you for sharing! Funny, I was recently thinking how I couldn’t recall you ever doing a Christmas home tour ( I’ve only been following you 3-4 yrs.). And BINGO… what do I find this am…lolo?! My favorites are the hutch and the tray on the kitchen island..Trays are sooo versatile and I use one on my coffee table every season. Snowmen have ALWAYS been my favorite! Perhaps because I really decorate with WINTER in mind, and not so much Christmas. I used to become so depressed and sad when the decorations came down that I decided to take down only the tree, and keep up the rest until mid January. Things still look ” bleak” around the apt. , but I know that it won’t be long until I can start Spring decorating in April. So, I call it my Winter/ Christmas decorating. I love your touches of red. When I was married, I used a lot greenery ( faux) with red ribbons/ berries, etc. Nothin’ like red & green to speak the season of Christmas!! Again, your home is beautiful!!

December 7, 2022 at 12:03 am

Thank you so much, Denise! Yep, I only share every few years since nothing changes much lol. Snowmen are my favorite too and they sure can stay up all winter! I’m so glad you enjoyed the tour! Enjoy the season, my friend! XOXO

Your house is lovely. I have so many collections that my house looks like Iā€™m a hoarder! Lol. I havenā€™t opened my paint box yetā€¦still I decorating mode! Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing!

December 7, 2022 at 12:05 am

Thank you, Joyce! Ha ha…there is so much cute decor out there that it is hard to resist buying it lol! Enjoy decorating! XOXO

Love the pops of red everywhere. I laughed at your comment about putting decor in the same spot. I think mine is different every year because I canā€™t remember what I did the year before. šŸ˜‚ I was totally lazy this year too and only put up one tree. I love yours-they look so pretty! Went down the rabbit hole of looking at your bedroom and porch plus furniture refinishing. Your blog continues to be my favorite! Merry Christmas! Cecilia

December 7, 2022 at 12:07 am

Thank you, Cecilia! Ha ha! Well at least that helps to change yours up from year to year! I cheat sometimes and look at my old blog tours to see what I had where lol. And I truly appreciate that!! Merry Christmas! XOXO

Aww thank you so much, Ann! It is my pleasure! Enjoy the season!! XOXO

December 6, 2022 at 8:57 am

Your house looks gorgeous, I also love neutral decor with pops of red at Christmas! I also love how you incorporate decor from one room to another seamlessly. The tray in your kitchen is beautiful, and all of the greenery also. Is the greenery real? It certainly looks it, if not where did you get it? Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

December 7, 2022 at 12:09 am

Thank you so much, Lynne! The greenery is all faux and I found most of it at Pier One. Too bad they went out of business…I would hit up their after Christmas sales to see what I could score on the cheap! That’s when I picked up the greenery! XOXO

December 6, 2022 at 9:49 am

You certainly have great style! In everything you do. I always look forward to your posts. I was sad to see nothing of faith in your Christmas decor, then true meaning of Christmas.

December 7, 2022 at 12:18 am

Aww thank you, Trudy! My faith is in my heart, it doesn’t need to be on display in our home. XOXO

December 6, 2022 at 10:49 am

Love your classic styling. It feels so nostalgic and inviting. The red and gold colours just pop against all the white.

December 7, 2022 at 12:25 am

Thanks so much, Jen! XOXO

December 6, 2022 at 11:08 am

Very cozy- and I like the touch of whimsy with the snow people. I also liked the toboggan propped up by the fireplace. Most of your decor could stay up all winter with just a change out in color. Thanks for sharing Christy!

Thank you, Niki! I love a little whimsy! And that is so true…much of it is more wintery! XOXO

Your house is so festive and beautiful. Love your little snowmen, they are so sweet. Thank you so much for sharing.

It’s my pleasure, Edna! Thank you! XOXO

December 6, 2022 at 10:42 pm

Christy, I love your Christmas decor. Iā€™m really loving the white and red. My home decor is mostly white (and beige) and Iā€™m thinking of introducing pops of red into my decor. Iā€™m loving your snowmen too, havenā€™t seen anything down my way quite as nice. xo

December 7, 2022 at 12:37 am

Thank you, Petra! That’s the nice thing about our decor…we can add pops of any color we like! I think you’ll love the red! Those snowmen were too cute to pass up. They were selling like hotcakes too! XOXO

December 6, 2022 at 11:06 pm

Marvelous as always! A couple questionsā€¦I have a front door like yours and donā€™t know what I should use to attach items to the glass on the door. Also, I love your tree star in the dining room. Please share where you got it. Enjoy Jack and setting up your village! Thanks

December 7, 2022 at 12:39 am

Thank you so much, Kim! I use a command hook on our front door and it works great! I don’t recall exactly where I got the star…but it was either Michaels or Hobby Lobby. It was a few years ago. And thank you…he’ll be home later this week so that will be fun! XOXO

December 7, 2022 at 12:41 am

Thank you so much, Michele! She had so many cute ones! She even had some that were holding there heads in there hands lol…I thought that might be a bit sinister for Christmas, but they were funny and I really liked them ha ha! XOXO

I do make little changes…usually with new additions. Heck ya only see it once a year!!! You have done sooooo many wonderful improvements to your home.

December 11, 2022 at 5:12 pm

Thank you so much, my friend!! Yes…traditional colors all the way here! I did do a more neutral/wintery Christmas look like way back in 2015 or so and I really missed the color! Have a wonderful holiday season!! XOXO

I am so excited to finally be saying Merry Christmas at the top of my lungs. Bentley is pretty excited as well!

This time of year is just magical.

Christmas foyer with tree

I love all things Christmas! I've discovered some great Christmas playlists on Spotify and with Amazon Music . I have our Alexa going all the time with tunes.

Dining room tree

I love all the lights, the scents, and the traditional colors. News flash…..red is not a favorite color, but I love it in December. I'll even wear some red lipstick! See more my artificial trees this year HERE .

I love getting a jump on holiday decorating to get all the Christmas feels for the month.

December is a big month of celebrations around here. Of course the most important is our celebration of the birth of Jesus.

We also have my birthday on Christmas Eve.

As the kids grew up, I never wanted to make a big deal of my birthday on Christmas Eve. I always wanted it to be about Christmas Eve.

christmas family room

I even stopped celebrating with my extended family the day of. It was just too much with seeing everyone again on Christmas Day.

I started coordinating with mom to pick a day for a family dinner about a week out from Christmas. Spread out the holiday cheer a bit.

Christmas tree

A new Christmas Eve tradition was born from this.

My husband and kids would have no part in NOT celebrating my birthday. Honestly, I think they go to more effort since it is on the 24th.

Christmas Eve ends up being what memories are made of.

family room tree

We leisurely get up. They used to fix me a light breakfast, but I've been intermittent fasting for a couple of years now. I ignore all of that on Christmas Day though!

christmas ornaments on tree

We go out to a nice lunch……it's usually a chain of some sort or whatever is open that looks good.

We then go to a movie…my choice. Last year we did not go with Covid. Not sure about this year. If we do go, I'm always crossing my fingers that a new Christmas movie has hit theaters. There just aren't as many as there used to be. That's a shame.

family room decorated for Chrismtas

We come home and work together to prep our Christmas Morning Breakfast . We host a family breakfast each year. This favorite menu is the tradition. It is make-ahead so makes Christmas morning a breeze!

family room at christmas

We then put together a quick charcuterie board or frozen pizza for dinner that we eat while enjoying a fire and settling in for a Christmas movie! We've even done a similar Brunch Board for dinner.

It truly is the most perfect birthday!

Christmas family room

Before Covid, for 2 years in a row, my husband planned a little getaway. One year we went to Charlotte, NC just for the night with the kids and saw a Charlotte Hornets basketball game. It was so much fun!

pillows on couch

The year before that it was my 50th birthday and we went to the Biltmore House on Christmas Eve! It was absolutely perfect. It had been many years since we had visited at Christmas. Even Woods sucked it up for his mom and didn't complain one bit.

It's always a fabulous Christmas Eve and birthday! They go above and beyond to make a holiday birthday special.

Christmas Day is like a whirlwind!

lamp and decor with tree

We get up way before the kids now (college) and get the coffee started. I set out the casseroles to get to room temp before baking them.

I snap some daylight photos of the family room and stockings before it becomes a sea of paper and debris!

christmas tree

My hubby starts a fire, making no point of being quiet….on purpose.

The kids come down and the fun begins while Christmas carols play in the background.

We each take turns seeing what Santa left in our stockings. I snap many photos.

We sit and enjoy the fire while the kids divvy up the gifts at each person's seat. We've kind of declared the spot we each sit in each Christmas to unwrap gifts.

Christmas kitchen

We then take turns unwrapping gifts while the rest of us watch. I love doing it this way. We get to appreciate the gift and give a proper thank you. It also drags out the event for this sentimental mom.

We usually have all of this done for the company to arrive around 10 am for breakfast.

We are usually done by 12:30.

christmas kitchen

While everyone is on their merry way playing with gifts or napping…I start prepping for Christmas dinner. I've been taking over the hosting duties from my mom for the last few years.

Thankfully, I like to prep in advance so it's not too bad. I usually get in a little Christmas movie time on the couch before 6 pm dinner.

breakfast room

Our celebrating isn't over with Christmas Day.

I'm not sure what we were thinking, but we thought we'd need more merriment in the month of December. Our wedding anniversary is December 27th! Ha, ha!

We do usually go out for dinner to celebrate but stay in on New Year's Eve. It will be 32 years soon.

All in all, it's the most amazing month! I cherish the memories! I'm holding them close to my heart this year in that it may be the last time that we are all living under the same roof for Christmas. New traditions may have to evolve as Ashlyn will be married this time next year, and Woods will probably be on his own by then.

I'd love for you to share with me in the comments how you have navigated the holiday with your adult children.

Merry Christmas, dear friends! I cherish yet another year of having you here at Our Southern Home.

Up next, you have to visit my southern friend Rhoda and her blog Southern Hospitality ! Her home is absolutely stunning.

I always look forward to your tours Christy and enjoyed hearing about your traditions! Your home looks lovely and it sounds like you do lots of celebrating in it! Merry Christmas to you and your family – and Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary! šŸ™‚

Hi Christy, I love your home…it brings back memories of my childhood living in the Clemson area. As an ex-pat living in Australia now it is exciting to see that ‘Southern Hospitality’ has lost none of its charm. Look forward to seeing more of your creativity on your blog…God Bless and Merry Christmas

So sorry for the late reply. How cool…Clemson to Australia. I hope you are having a wonderful new year!

Your Christmas traditions sound absolutely magical! And your home, is so beautiful with so many festive and thoughtful touches. Merry Christmas and Happy (early) birthday!

Everything is so lovely…thanks for sharing!! Love it all. Our daughter-in-law has her birthday on Christmas Day which I initially thought was wonderful….but she once confided in me that she never felt she had a day that was “my own.” So I always make a point of separating the two events by wrapping her birthday gifts in non-Christmas paper, and delivering the gifts on the 25th and emphasizing “birthday”!!!!! She adores butterflies so I keep my eyes peeled for butterfly themed paper, bags, etc. She and my son were married on December 10th, so they sometimes celebrate her birthday then. Merry Christmas.

Wow! Your daughter and I have a lot in common. So great of you to make that extra effort and remember her love of butterflies on her birthday.

Your home is classically beautiful, and the Christmas decor just takes it up a notch! I love it Christy!

Hi Christy! You have a beautiful home decorated for the holidays! I have a thing for nativities and I just love the one you displayed. Happy to join the tour this year. Blessings, Lori

Another Christmas baby! My twin and I share a Christmas birthday with a grandma and our cousins is on the 27th so there are always a few cakes at Christmas. lol I’m glad your family makes it special for you. Your house is so beautiful. I really love the green plaid ribbon on one of the trees but all of them are stunning! Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas and Happy Anniversary.

Thanks so much! It’s always fun to hear of fellow Christmas babies.

HI, Christy, your home is one of my faves, so pretty and classic and you sure know how to decorate it for Christmas. Just stunning! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Oh i love all your Christmas decor, your home is totally amazing. I loved hearing your family traditions too, sounds like the perfec time with family. Now that the children are grown and probably moving on, you will have new traditions to start and enjoy. Each year gets better. Thanks so much for joining the tours again this season.

Christmas Home Tour of Century Oak Farmhouse & Decor Ideas

Jessica | Old Barn Design

Many of us love seeing homes decorated for Christmas, so welcome to our Christmas home tour of the Century Oak Farmhouse. This is a home that I designed for my own family. I'm so happy to show you around.

Disclaimer: I may receive a small affiliate commission from purchases made via links in this article but at no cost to you.

Christmas home tour

Living room, dining room, primary bedroom, kidā€™s bedroom.

christmas home tour, Exterior of a house decorated for Christmas

To begin our holiday tour, weā€™ll start with the exterior of our home. We have lights all along the eaves and wreaths with red ribbons on the windows.

christmas home tour, Front porch decorated for Christmas

Our front porch is decorated with trees and Christmas decor pieces that blend in nicely with our outdoor furniture.

christmas home tour, Front porch Christmas decor

We also have pillows and throws to make it extra cozy for the holiday season.

christmas home tour, Christmas decorated entryway

Let's go inside now. Here I have a nativity set that my husband's grandmother made, and I just added some greenery around it to kind of give it some pop.

christmas home tour, Hallway decorated for Christmas

As we go into the stair hall, you'll see I have a couple of Christmas trees and a plush velvet pillow sitting on this little bench.

christmas home tour, Garland along the stairs

Plus, I've got garland going up the stairs.

christmas home tour, Mercury glass ornaments under the garland

Underneath the garland this year, I added these mercury glass ornaments that are all strung together, and they actually light up. They look so pretty, and they go really well with the color theme that I'm going with this year.

christmas home tour, Living room decorated for Christmas

For our Christmas tree and our main living space, I decided to use the movie It's a Wonderful Life for inspiration and guidance for how I decorated.

christmas home tour, Mercury glass ornaments on a tree

So you'll see I'm using a lot of mercury glass ornaments because I feel like in the time period when the movie takes place, that's what they would have used.

christmas home tour, Snowflake ornaments on a tree

There are also lots of big snowflakes because the movie had huge snowflakes.

christmas home tour, Merry Christmas banner hanging on a tree

In the movie, they have a Merry Christmas banner hanging over a doorway. I did the banner, but I put it on the tree in our Christmas home.

christmas home tour, Sentimental type ornaments

I also incorporated any ornaments that I had that were maybe some more sentimental-type ornaments from our family if they were in the right color.

christmas home tour, Sentimental ornaments on a Christmas tree

So these are all silver, and that works with what I'm doing on the tree, so they got included as well. You can use your sentimental and still have a beautiful tree.

christmas home tour, Mantle with a bell garland

On the mantle, I took a cue from the movie and added some bells, because every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings.

christmas home tour, Norfolk pine garlands over the mantle

Also, on top, I have my beautiful Norfolk pine garlands. I've made them look really fluffy by adding a regular pine garland behind and underneath to help hold them up.

christmas home tour, White living room decorated for Christmas

Here's an overall view of what we have in the room all together.

christmas home tour, Pine cones in a bowl

As you can see, it's a pretty limited color palette, mostly green and white, silver and gold.

christmas home tour, Mercury glass and white Christmas decor in a dining room

In the dining room, we continued with the mercury glass accents with greenery.

christmas home tour, Mercury glass trees as a dining table centerpiece

I've got these beautiful mercury glass trees and, in order to give them some different heights, I used a couple of different pedestals to raise them.

christmas home tour, White and neutral Christmas decor

Then, I have some ornaments and mercury glass candle holders as well.

christmas home tour, Christmas centerpiece with candles

For everyday purposes, I usually just have the centerpiece and these little candles on the table.

christmas home tour, Christmas tablescape

But I also wanted to show you how I would set the table for guests. So here I've used galvanized and silver chargers and my green and white dishes.

christmas home tour, Table settings for a Christmas dinner

I've placed a small piece of cedar and a pine cone, and the initials are actually ornaments.

christmas home tour, Christmas puzzle

One of our family traditions is to put together a Christmas puzzle during the season. So I have set up a table right here between the kitchen, dining room, and living room, and it's just a great place for us to gather as a family.

christmas home tour, Kitchen set up for Christmas baking

Since the Christmas season is all about spending time together making memories and doing things like baking in the kitchen, I set up this cute baking section over here on my hutch where we can easily grab everything that we need for all of those spontaneous baking sessions.

christmas home tour, Mudroom decorated for Christmas

We just finished building our fire pit down by the lake so in the mudroom this year, I decided to make this fun Christmassy area with warm cozy blankets and lanterns. That way we can grab them and go down there and spend some time roasting marshmallows.

christmas home tour, Guest bathroom with Christmas touches

I like to add a few little Christmas touches in the guest bathroom as well.

christmas home tour, Primary bedroom with festive accents

In the primary bedroom, we have a few more little accents to celebrate the season.

christmas home tour, Drawing of a snowman

I love this drawing of the snowman that my daughter did.

christmas home tour, Kid s bedroom decorated for Christmas

My daughter's room got a quick fun Christmas update as well. We swapped out her bedspread for this red and white one and added these fun ornament ball pillows .

christmas home tour, Mini Christmas tree and stuffed animal

And over here we have just a little Christmas tree and a little winter stuffed animal.

christmas home tour, Home office decorated for Christmas

This tree is in our music room which is also my husband's office. So we took inspiration from the blue guitar on the wall and decorated the tree with a blue Christmas theme like Elvis's song.

christmas home tour, Homes decorated for Christmas

We have disco balls, blue ornaments, guitars, and, of course, Elvis' glasses that we had picked up at Graceland a few years ago.

Homes decorated for Christmas

I'm so glad you joined us on our Christmas home tour. What do you think of the decorations weā€™ve put up this year? Let me know in the comments section.
