Drive by wire cruise control for the Coyote

Thecruisecontrolstore.com has a universal drive-by-wire kit. It uses magnets epoxied to the driveshaft and a sensor. I just installed in a Gen3. I can't say how it works yet, but the install is easy enough. The control box plugs right into the gas pedal jack.

You ordered the 250-1882 Universal for drive by wire hotrods kit? Which stalk did you order and how will you plan to integrate it to the column? On my roadster, I have the VW (russ thompson) turn signal kit, so I am curious if one of these stalks will just thread on instead of using the provided lever arm. If not, I might be able to cut and thread the existing lever to accept the new stalk. Very neat, thanks for sharing. I had not yet seen any options for cruise control on the coyote.  

I agree. Interesting possibility. I'd like to hear more about the exact things you ask about. I did see a Coyote cruise control setup in another thread a while back. But it used a servo motor to press the pedal. Seemed a little redundant. This looks a lot better.  

Yes, that is the unit that I installed. I ordered the two-button switch that they sell for the cruise control, rather than a stalk. I plan to put it on the transmission tunnel cover. I think the Russ Thompson is too small for a stalk. I did a unisteer electric power steering also, and I fabled a mount for th RT:

Installing Cruise Control in 2010 Grade

I just added the intermentant wipers & fog switch but cant seem to figure out the cruise control switch. the instructions are vague & say something about drilling a hole? I've seen others say that the pre-2010 models needed a wire ran to the fuse panel but the 2010's and up do not I bought the switch from TRD Sparks and it just came with the cruise control switch in a box, nothing else. Does anyone have instructions on how to get this done? Preferably with pic's? I would really appreciate it Thanks

I thought cruise was a standard feature??  

not in all tundra's, even some of the higher end models do not come with it. I just orderd the screws that are supposed to go with it through sparks TRD. The guys w/ cruise control, does it attach next to the steering wheel & spin around w/ the steering wheel when you turn?  

yes, it turns with the wheel.  

Wow...they are really cutting corners. My 2008 Grade Tundra had Cruise Control standard.  

Its a dealer option, one I didnt think to test during the test drive. Im a cruise control user so I gotta figure out how to make this happen  

Tundra cruise control Check the following web site for instructions to install OEM cruise control. (thecruisecontrolstore.com) These instructions are what I used to install cruise on my 07 Tundra. Takes a bit of testing and some patience but can be done. Hope this helps. Paul

Got a test light and know how to use it? It's like $5 at an automotive parts store or Harbor Freight. The test light is easier for checking for voltage. Any switch in a circuit is a prime candidate for the cause of a failure. Switch contacts wear. Edit: Your cruise control switch is what the manual calls an "Open Circuit Control Switch." You want to find the part called the "Cruise Module" (see photos in links above); unplug the Cruise Module electrical connector; and find the four wires (red, dark green, yellow and brown) that go from the electrical connector to the switch on the steering column. You will check for voltage with your test light as described in the matrix at the bottom of page 23 of the manual. Once you find the Cruise Module, I think complete, thorough testing of the switch can be done within half an hour or less.

Careful when attempting the OE unit.. .Im not sure how your aftermarket is set up, but the OE one needs to have the air bag removed for it to be installed  

As nice as it would be to have, I'm not going to attempt all of that. Hopefully can fix the system I have!  

Update: Finally got time to look into it and it was the best case scenario possible. The metal piece/cable that connected to the throttle cable had come loose, the small cotter pin was missing. So I just hooked it back on and put a new pin in, and now the cruise works again!  

I love the nice simple fixes!
