On September 12, it was announced that the group would hold their first concert in Seoul, titled Blackpink 2018 Tour [In Your Area] Seoul x BC Card , on November 11 and 12 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena . Each member of the group played an active role in planning the show; [2] it was revealed that the title of the tour, In Your Area, was chosen by the members themselves. [3] Tickets became available to the group's fan club members for pre-sale on September 14 via Auction Ticket and to the general public on September 18. All 20,000 tickets for the two concerts quickly sold out. [4]

During the two-day concert at Seoul, member Jennie performed for the first time her debut solo song " Solo ", which was released later on November 12, 2018. [5] Blackpink released a 14-track live album recorded during the Seoul concerts, Blackpink 2018 Tour In Your Area Seoul , on August 30, 2019. [6]

On October 31, 2018, Blackpink announced their first tour dates for the Asian leg, with shows in Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur commencing in mid-January 2019. [7] [8] [9] On January 28, 2019, Blackpink officially announced the concert dates and venues for the European leg; the tour kicked off in Amsterdam on May 18, 2019. [10] The group later shared the tour's North American shows, on February 11, 2019, via social media. [11] The North American leg kicked off in Los Angeles on April 17, in between the two weekends of Coachella , where the group performed. [12] On February 22, 2019, it was reported that all 60,000 tickets for the group's first North American tour were sold out. [13] Blackpink announced tour dates for Australia on February 25. [14] [15] Kia Motors served as the tour's official sponsor. [16]

On April 15, the group announced they would hold four dome concerts in three cities in Japan, starting in Tokyo on December 4, 2019. [17] On January 22, 2020, it was announced that the tour's last concert at Fukuoka Dome would be broadcast live in 96 movie theaters in Japan. [18] A live album, DVD and Blu-ray of the Tokyo Dome concert, Blackpink 2019–2020 World Tour In Your Area – Tokyo Dome – , was released on May 6, 2020. The DVD ranked first on Oricon DVD Weekly Chart (May 4–10). [19]

The show begins with a montage of a Rubik's Cube spelling out "Blackpink" and the names of the members on the main stage's screen. The cube then explodes into pink glitter and rising smoke as the group rises to the stage to perform " Ddu-Du Ddu-Du " in light pink outfits. On elevated platforms, Blackpink then performs " Forever Young " in front of an outer space-like backdrop. [20] After performing the two verses and the second chorus on the main stage, Blackpink returns to the raised platforms with dancers to sing the final part of the song. The group then greets the audience and introduces themselves on the main stage, performing " Stay " on chairs and walking to the B-stage during the final chorus. At the B-stage, the group begins " Whistle " before being accompanied by dancers and returning to the main stage at the end. The group departs the stage for a costume change.

Depending on the leg of the tour, the order of the solo performances changes. In the first Asian leg, Jisoo commences, singing a cover of " Clarity " by Zedd on a platform of disco balls. She is followed by Lisa , who dances to a medley of songs, both solo and with dancers. In Seoul, Lisa performed to " I Like It ", "Faded", and " Attention "; the dance number changed to "Take Me" and " Swalla " from the first Bangkok show onwards. Rosé is third, rising to the stage with Dante Jackson from The Band Six on piano to sing a cover medley of " Let It Be " by the Beatles , "You & I" by former label mate Park Bom and "Only Look At Me" by Taeyang . [21] Starting on April 17, 2019, Rosé opens the solo performances in place of Jisoo. The final member to perform as a soloist is Jennie with her single " Solo " alongside multiple dancers in front of a dance hall backdrop. [22] The Band Six plays an interlude after Jennie returns backstage for her costume change. [21] Most members' solo set numbers changed for the final leg in Japan: Rosé with a cover of Lewis Capaldi 's " Someone You Loved ", Lisa with a choreography to a medley of " Good Thing " and " Señorita ", and Jisoo with a cover of AKMU 's " How Can I Love the Heartbreak, You're the One I Love ".

After the release of their Kill This Love EP in April 2019, Blackpink opens the next segment of the show with " Kill This Love " in street-style costumes. [23] The main screen features different scenes from the song's official music video as a backdrop. A group of dancers join Blackpink for the ending beat drop of the song in marching band costumes before leaving the stage for Blackpink to perform "Don't Know What To Do". The group then interacts with the audience. " Kiss and Make Up " is performed next, with each member standing on moving raised platforms while the screen displays tropical patterns and imagery. The Band Six and dancers later return to the main stage to accompany Blackpink for "Really" and "See U Later". They all exit the stage as a video interlude featuring Blackpink racing and drifting in Kia motorcars plays on the screens. [22]

Blackpink, in sparkly costumes, returns to the stage from below and performs " Playing with Fire " with a gate-like setting on-screen. The backdrop changes to kaleidoscope-like graphics as the group sings "Kick It". They move to the B-stage and perform the final two songs, " Boombayah " and " As If It's Your Last ", after a short interaction with the audience. [23]

For the encore, the group reappears on stage in casual clothes to perform a remixed version of "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du". Blackpink introduces members of the touring band and dancers to the audience and thank them before enjoying an instrumental performance by The Band Six. Only the group remains onstage afterwards to sing the final song, "Hope Not"; they say goodbye to the audience before departing the stage. [24]

The concert received generally positive reviews from the critics. Variety drew comparisons between the all-dancing concert to Beyonce 's 2018 Coachella performance , calling it "within the realm of earthly aspirational possibility" with "semi-rigid, semi-relaxed synchronization" and "major charm offensive from four quintessential Girls Next Door". [24] Evan Real, writing for The Hollywood Reporter , stated that the girl group delivered "impressive vocals, dancing" that "not even the stage's extravagant light display or frequent bursts of fireworks could pull the group's focus from their exceptionally polished routine". [25] Billboard described the concert as "hugely engaging" and applauded Blackpink's "remarkably natural aura" as opposed to the usual rigidity that K-pop concerts usually have, thanks to the group's improvisations and audience interaction. However, the magazine criticized the solo performances, calling Lisa's dance number "as baffling as it was boring" and Jisoo's cover of Clarity "uncomfortably close to a filler". [20] [26] The Guardian shared similar sentiments regarding the solo segment and gave the concert three stars out of five, stating that while the show had "brilliant moments throughout", it did not "take enough risks". [21] On the other hand, Jan Lee of The Straits Times felt the solo performances were enjoyable and the concert's energy was infectious; he described the members of Blackpink as "exuberant, charming and visually stunning onstage", though he felt the show needed more original material from the group. [27]

The In Your Area World Tour became the most successful tour by a Korean female group in history. [30] It recorded a 96.6% rate of seat occupancy for the first 32 concerts, excluding the concerts in Japan. Among them, 22 concerts in cities such as Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Los Angeles, Chicago, Hamilton, Newark, Fort Worth, Paris, Macau, and Melbourne were sold out. [31] All four dome concerts for the Japan leg were also sold out. [32]

The North American setlist was performed at the show at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on May 1, 2019. It does not represent all shows throughout the tour. [33]

Consisting of four members, Rosé, Jisoo, Lisa, and Jennie, the quartet has conquered the U.S. charts higher than any other K-Pop girl group. There is no doubt that BLACKPINK is truly becoming America’s newest sensation. Their latest EP “Kill This Love” landed at No. 24 on the Billboard 200, while its main single of the same name landed on the Hot 100 right at No. 41. With a unique sound that mixes both pop and hip-hop, there’s no surprise why the girls are killing the charts.

With no surprise, the girls of BLACKPINK performed to a sold out crowd tonight here in Atlanta. As several fans waited for doors to open at the Infinite Energy Arena, it was hard not to notice how diverse the crowd was. Ranging from all ages and sexual orientations, the diverse crowd gave a bigger understanding of how big BLACKPINK truly is. Coming all the way from South Korea, the talented quartet has been able to win the hearts of several within the United States Of America.

Diving straight into last year’s hit “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du,” the girls were welcomed with loud cheers as fans ignited the arena with their hammer bongs (BLACKPINK’s official lightstick). While the quartet dominated the stage with impressive choreography and live vocals, the arena trembled as fans chanted along. With a smooth transition, the girls kept the action going as they performed “Forever Young.” Taking a small breather, the girls took the opportunity to introduce themselves to the crowd. Astonished by how their American fans were singling along to every single word, the girls promised to give their best in return.

As the night continued, the girls were able to demonstrate their talents individually mid way into the show. Demonstrating her unique voice, Rosé took the stage as she performed a medley of ballads. Capturing the hearts of many, Rosé soared high throughout her emotional performance. Taking the opportunity to show off her dancing, Lisa took over the stage. Seducing the crowd as she danced to Miso’s “Take Me,” Lisa effortlessly had all eyes on her as she increased the temperature with Jason Derulo’s “Swalla.” Switching spots, Jisoo sat on a throne of pearls as she performed a rendition of  Zedd’s “Clarity.” Showcasing her English vocals, Jisoo constantly interacted with the crowd as she waved or sent hearts throughout the venue. Bringing the solo stages to an end, Jennie performed her debut solo song, “Solo,” as the venue quickly erupted with screams of approval. With sassy choreography and tongue-in-cheek lyrics, Jennie effectively showed off her personalty. While BLACKPINK is known for being an extremely talented quartet, each member effectively demonstrated the star potential that each one of them holds.

As the excitement continued throughout the night, BLACKPINK’s stage production was no joke. With impressive lights, astonishing visuals, and a full live band, the four members truly hosted a one of kind concert experience. A night filled with constant bangers such as their biggest hit “Kill This Love,” and fan favorites like “Playing With Fire,” and “Boombayah,” allowed fans to experience an unforgettable night. As the nightly quickly approached its end, one can only hope that BLACKPINK will be back in Atlanta very soon. There is no denying that BLACKPINK has truly left their mark here in America. Arguably being one of the biggest girl groups to ever exist, one can only imagine whats to come from BLACKPINK in the upcoming years. The girls will be finishing their “In Your Area” North American tour dates this upcoming May 8th in Fort Worth, Texas before heading out to Europe. Catch them while you still can, for this is a must-attend event.

Jennifer Lopez Variety Cover Story

After canceling seven dates of her first North American tour in five years amid weak ticket sales, Jennifer Lopez has renamed it to apparently broaden its scope, changing it from “This Is Me… Now” to “This Is Me… Live | The Greatest Hits.”

Popular on Variety

Upon release in February, “This Is Me… Now” struggled to find an audience, selling 14,000 copies in its first week. While the album did debut atop the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart due to 11,000 in physical sales, it arrived at No. 38 on the Billboard 200, becoming the second of her nine studio albums to bow outside the top 10.

The album was one part of a self-financed $20 million multimedia project including the tour and the two films, “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story,” and a documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told.” Variety described the endeavor as an examination of “Lopez’s life as a serial romantic” following her romantic rekindling with actor Ben Affleck, who she married in 2022 after nearly two decades apart.

  • Delivering excitement through ANA Online Job Tour
  • Offers and Announcements
  • ANA Future Promise

In February 2024, an online job tour was held connecting ANA Blue Base, the ANA Group's comprehensive training center, with two elementary schools in Okinawa Prefecture.

Approximately 100 participants from six classes of 3rd-6th graders participated in the tour.

Through quizzes and demonstrations, the tour introduced various jobs in the ANA Group.

in your area tour

Reasons for holding this event

This online job tour was made possible through collaboration with several organizations and companies. The foundation of this project is dormant deposits.

Dormant deposits are deposits that have not been transacted for more than 10 years, and a system to utilize such money to solve social issues and promote private public interest activities began in FY2019. General Incorporated Foundation Japan Network for Public Interest Activities (JANPIA) subsidizes such dormant deposits to NPOs and other organizations, and the money is being used throughout Japan to solve social issues.

The Online Job Tour was held in collaboration with ONESPACE Inc. and Mirai Fund Okinawa, an organization that has been conducting online job tours as a project utilizing dormant deposits, with the hope that children in Okinawa Prefecture, which has fewer opportunities for career education in terms of environment and industry compared to the mainland and metropolitan areas, would learn about the various types of jobs available.

Delivering excitement through online

Utilizing the ANA Blue Base facility, which resembles an actual airport, we connected the elementary school with the live broadcast from a space that made them feel as if they were in the actual airport.

The content of the tour was divided into four parts: (1) about the work of the ANA Group, (2) about safety work, (3) introduction of ground staff duties, and (4) Q&A session.

In part (3), an employee from Okinawa wearing the Okinawa Airport limited edition Kariyushi uniform gave a talk so that elementary school students in Okinawa Prefecture could feel a little closer to the company.

In a survey conducted after the event, more than 90% of the elementary school students who participated answered, "The online job tour gave me a sense of the real atmosphere of the workplace," and many others said, "It was interesting to learn many things for the first time."

Thoughts of the persons in charge of companies and organizations involved in the event

What are your thoughts on planning an online job tour.

in your area tour

Even though the situation was "unavoidable," we took seriously the fact that, as the spread of COVID-19 was prolonged, things that should have been experienced during a short childhood were cancelled without the children's consent, and we wanted to provoke discussion about not giving up on the experience.

We then focused on "online contents," which can be done while avoiding direct contact between people. We held a public call for organizations to execute the "distribution and exchange platform project."

Including ANA this time, I believe that the possibilities for online job tours will continue to expand, including tours of remote workplaces that are difficult to visit due to the geographical conditions of Okinawa Prefecture, and factories that were previously inaccessible due to safety and hygiene concerns.

What do you expect from this Online Job Tour?

in your area tour

This project was based on the idea that "children's learning should not be stopped" as school events were canceled one after another due to the spread of COVID-19. When we heard voices at the school saying, "We can finally get back to normal," which could be taken to mean, "We are finally free from the online world," we felt a sense of crisis that learning might degenerate. With the spread of COVID-19, the school's communication environment has been improved and teachers' IT literacy has increased, and we felt that now was the time to expand the value and potential of online.

While Okinawa has the charm of an island with unique culture and history and rich nature, the "learning gap" for children due to the disadvantage of distance has become an issue.

Through the online job tours, we feel that not only will it lead to the future as a "guarantee of learning experiences for children," but it will also create various by-products for both schools and companies.

How was your online job tour with ANA Group?

in your area tour

We also learned from ANA that flying an airplane is a team spirit, and we strongly felt that spirit in the operation of this Online Job Tour.

We hope that through this collaborative project, hands-on activities for children will spread throughout Japan, and that it will serve as a catalyst for the expansion of experience opportunities.

The ANA Group will continue to work together with other companies and organizations to build a sustainable community.

Nelly korda ties lpga tour record with 5th straight victory, wins chevron championship for 2nd major.

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Nelly Korda couldn’t have imagined the incredible run she’s put together this season while at home recovering from a blood clot that required surgery in 2022.

“Because obviously then I was just more scared for my health,” she said. “Competing was kind of on the back seat. I was not thinking about competing at all. But I think all of the sad times and the health scares that I have gone through have made me who I am today.”

Recommended Videos

Fully healthy now, Korda is seemingly unstoppable. The world’s No. 1 player hasn’t lost a tournament since January, and now she’s a two-time major champion.

Korda etched her name in the LPGA Tour record books Sunday, winning her record-tying fifth straight tournament with a two-stroke victory in the Chevron Championship.

Korda joins Nancy Lopez (1978) and Annika Sorenstam (2004-05) as the only players to win five consecutive LPGA events. Her previous major victory was in 2021 at the Women's PGA Championship.

“It’s been an amazing feeling these past couple weeks knowing that I can go on this stretch and that if I stay in my bubble and I keep golf in a sense simple and let it flow, then I can have so, so much fun out here,” she said.

Korda shot a 3-under 69 in the final to outlast Maja Stark of Sweden, who birdied her final two holes to shoot 69 and pull within one. Korda stayed aggressive on the par-5 18th, easily clearing the lake in front of the green and setting up an easy up-and-down birdie for a two-shot victory.

She had a four-day total of 13-under 275 at Carlton Woods.

Korda nearly aced the par-3 17th , with her tee shot hitting the hole and hopping in the air before settling within 10 feet. She settled for par to maintain her two-shot lead.

Korda wowed the large crowd, which followed her throughout the day, by chipping into the wind for birdie on the par-4 10th hole to take a four-stroke lead. The 25-year-old raised her club above her head with one hand and pumped her fist after the ball rolled into the hole.

Her parents — former Australian Open tennis champion Petr Korda and Regina Rajchrtova — beamed as she was presented with the trophy.

“She had a difficult ’22 and ’23 in certain ways,” Petr Korda said. “She did not win a tournament in ’23 and some things probably made her humble and (she) put a lot of work into where she is right now. Without the work and commitment, she would not be here. So seeing that, I’m very happy.”

Korda’s older sister, Jessica, is a six-time LPGA winner who’s taking a break from golf after giving birth to her first child.

Korda took home $1.2 million from a purse of $7.9 million, a significant increase from last year’s purse of $5.2 million. That brings her season earnings to $2,424,216 and her career earnings to $11,361,489.

Winners had been jumping into Poppie’s Pond off the 18th green at Mission Hills since 1988, and Korda became the second to do it in Texas by doing a cannonball off a small dock into brown-tinged water. World No. 2 Lilia Vu was first to jump into the pond here after her win last season. Vu withdrew from this year’s tournament before the first round after experiencing “severe discomfort” in her back during warmups.

While still shivering from her post-win plunge Sunday, Korda confirmed she'll be competing in the JM Eagle LA Championship next week in Los Angeles. She was then asked about the possibility of becoming the first to ever win six straight LPGA tournaments.

“I’m going to enjoy this right now and then I’ll think about that,” she said. “But yeah, it’s been an amazing time. Hopefully keep the streak alive. But I’ve been so grateful to compete week in and week out and get the five in a row, too.”

Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is on a similar tear, on his way to a fourth victory in five starts until rain interrupted the final round of the RBC Heritage . He couldn’t help but check in on Korda.

“I actually was checking the scores this afternoon when we were in the rain delay,” he said. “I’m extremely happy for her and proud of her. That’s some pretty special stuff. It’s been a treat to watch.”

Korda entered the last round one shot off the lead after completing the last seven holes of the weather-delayed third round early Sunday morning on a windy and unseasonably cool day. She was wiped out after her big win because she’d been up since 4 a.m. to prepare for the end of the third round.

She birdied two of her first four holes to take the lead. Lauren Coughlin birdied Nos. 13 and 14 to get within two strokes, but bogeys on the 16th and 17th holes put her four behind. She shot a final-round 68 to finish tied for third with Brooke Henderson.

Coughlin got emotional when discussing her best finish in a major.

“It’s really cool to see all of the work that I’ve put in, especially with my putting and my short game, and putting specifically showed off this week, as well,” she said.

Henderson was tied with Korda for second to start the last round after she shot a 64 in the third round to set a scoring record for the tournament since its move from Mission Hills, California, to Texas last year. But the Canadian, who has 13 LPGA wins with two majors, also faltered early in the final round, with a bogey and a double bogey in the first four holes.

Haeran Ryu of South Korea shot a bogey-free 67 to enter the final round leading Korda by one. But the 2023 Rookie of the Year bogeyed the first two holes of the fourth round. She closed with a 74 and finished fifth.

Eighteen-year-old amateur Jasmine Koo provided an unlikely highlight on the 18th hole. Her second shot bounced off the advertising board in the water and back into play. She ended up with a birdie to shoot 71.
