Arrival: Cochin and Sightseeing

When you get to Kochi, you will be driven to your hotel, where you can check in and spend some time with your family.

Later, go on a wonderful tour of the city to see all of its major sights, such as the Chinese Fishing Nets on the Beach, the Spice Markets, the Mattancherry Palace, the Jewish Synagogue, Fort Kochi, St. Francis Church, and the beautiful Marine Drive.

After having a great first day in Kochi, it’s time to go back to the hotel for dinner and rest.

Cochin-Munnar (4hrs/135km)

After breakfast, drive to Munnar, stopping along the way to see the Cheyyappara and Valara waterfalls. It will be an incredible experience to travel through the lush forest.

Munnar is well-known for its tea plantations. TATA’s Kannan Devan Hills is a well-known tea estate in Munnar.

Munnar Sightseeing

After breakfast go out for Munnar Sightseeing.

Eravikulam National Park (Raja Malai), Mattupetty Dam, Tea Estates, Eco Point, Spice Plantation, Rose Garden, Photo Point, Tea Museum, Blossom Park, Kundala Dam, and Top Station are among the Sightseeing destinations.

In addition, you have the option of going Rock Climbing and Trekking, as well as boating on the Lake. Overnight stay at hotel.

Munnar-Thekkady (2.5hrs/90km)

Get going toward Thekkady right after breakfast. Moving through the towns and farms of the mountainous regions. On the way, you will pass by Pepper, Cardamom, Coffee, and Tea plantations.

When you finally get to Thekkady, you can check into your hotel. After a short break, you will go on a Jungle Tour through the forest.

Thekkady is located in the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. You can go on an Elephant Ride, a Jeep Safari, a visit to a Spice Farm, or a Boat Excursion on Periyar Lake, among other things. Stay at a hotel in Thekkady.

Thekkady-Alleppey Houseboat

The backwaters of Kerala can best be experienced on a houseboat, so after breakfast, head to Alleppey.

The houseboat has a 1 PM check-in time. Drinks, snacks, mineral water, meals, and breakfast are all provided on the houseboat.

You can observe the infinite paddy fields, lined coconut trees, water birds, and feel the chilly wind coming by touching the lake.

You’ll spend the night on a houseboat.

Alleppey-Kovalam (4hrs/160km)

Leave towards Kovalam after breakfast. Get to Kovalam by late afternoon and settle into the hotel.

After you have settled for a while, head to one of Kerala’s world-famous beaches. Howah Beach and the nearby lighthouse are two of the area’s most popular tourist destinations.

Kovalam beaches are known for their beautiful golden sand and coconut palms.

After breakfast, set out on a day trip to Kanyakumari, commonly known as “Sunrise Point”.

Munnar Trip

Munnar is a peaceful and unspoilt hill station in an area known as the Western Ghats populated by plantations, rubber, tea, coffee and cardamom.   This area is known as the Kashmir of India, a veritable jewel in the crown.  Undulating hills rise up to steep misty mountain tops offering spectacular views before descending into tranquil valleys filled only with the sound of bubbling water and exotic birdlife.   Munnar is an unspoilt and serene haven, long a popular destination for holidaymakers as far back as British colonial rule.

Munnar Sightseeing

The name, Munnar, means three rivers and this pretty location sits at the confluence of the Muthirapuzha, the Nallathanni and the Kundale.  Spend the day wandering the Kundale tea plantation, picnic beside the calm waters of the lake at Mattupetty or take a trip back in time at the High Range Club, a blast from India’s colonial past.  Learn about the history of British rule and understand how they lived and entertained in this beautiful and historic showpiece dating from the days of the Raj.

Thekkady Sightseeing

Thekkady is renowned for its wildlife, contained within the world famous Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, a huge area covering nearly 800 sq km and a reserve since 1950.  Take a boat cruise on Lake Periyar, a massive expanse of water created by the British in the days of colonial rule.  This is the perfect way to watch elephants, Indian Gaur and spotted deer coming down to the waterside to drink.  Explore on foot or by bicycle and spot rare lion-tailed macaques, leopards and Indian bison even some elusive tigers.   Take a tour with a villager as your guide to really dig deep into this mysterious and exotic location with its mix of jungle scenery and hilly terrain.

Houseboat Stay at Kumarakom

After breakfasting in Thekkady, you will travel to Kumarakom and step foot onto a traditional Keralan houseboat, your home for the day and night.  Cruise the languid backwaters where coconut groves line the water’s edge.  Watch local people fishing or earning their living by making rustic products out of coir.  Fully catered, you will enjoy all your meals on deck.  Dine as the sun sets and fall asleep to the gentle sway of the boat and the music of the exotic birdlife.

DAY 01 COCHIN

Our tour representative will be greeting you on your arrival at Cochin seaport/airport/ railway station with arrival assistance. Later Transfer to your hotel. After fresh up proceed for the sightseeing of Fort Kochi and Mattanchery. The major tourist attractions include St. Francis Church, Vasco House, Santa Cruz Basilica Chinese fishing nets. DAY 02 COCHIN – MUNNAR

On your arrival at Kochi (Airport / Railway Station / Bus Station) you will be received by our representatives welcoming you to Gods on Country. Proceed to Munnar the picturesque hill stations in India. On the way to Munnar view the pristine Attukad waterfalls otherwise known as Attukal Waterfalls (seasonal). Moving further the driver will stop the vehicle to take some good photos in the tea gardens of Munnar. Later check in to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure spend as you please either relaxing or exploring tea city. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 03 SIGHTSEEING OF MUNNAR

After an elaborate breakfast at the hotel we will take you taken for a full day sightseeing tour of Munnar. Sightseeing tour around Munnar takes one to tea gardens where picturesque colonial towns and meandering mountain streams present photo opportunities galore.  You will be taken for a visit to Rajamalai where you can watch Nilgiri Thar in their natural habitat.  You will also be visiting the nearby Mattupetty Dam, Kundala Lake, Echo point, Blossom Park. Have a boating in the lake which will give you a rejuvenating feel.

By evening you will be taken for a visit to a Tea museum where they will show the processing of tea leaves. Later scroll at the local market. Overnight at Hotel.

  DAY 04 MUNNAR – THEKKADY

Morning after breakfast you have the option to go for a plantation tour where you will get an understanding of the spices of Kerala. They will explain to you about the plants and how the spices are processed. After lunch proceed for the famous boating at the Periyar lake. Periyar Lake is inside the Periyar wildlife sanctuary where you might be able to see animals in close quarters. Later come back and take a walk in the local market where you can buy genuine spices. Evening there is Kathakali (Kerala Dance Form) and Kalaripayattu (Kerala martial arts) performance. (Both optional). Overnight at resort in Thekkady.

DAY 05 THEKKADY - ALLEPPEY - HOUSEBOAT

On reaching Alleppey check in to traditional Kerala houseboat. Vembanad Lake, the biggest backwater stretches in Kerala, and through the narrow canals of Alleppey.

Houseboat cruises through the serene backwater stretch of Alleppey Backwaters and give you an idea of the beauty of backwaters. The interlinking canals, unending green paddy fields, and waving coconut trees are the main  attractions  of the houseboat cruise in Alleppey.

You will be welcomed with light refreshment drinks (mostly tender coconut). Lunch, Evening Tea / Snacks, Dinner, and next day breakfast will be served in the houseboat. Enjoy the largest backwaters of Kerala with paddy fields on either side and small canals, marine life, and village life. Try your luck in catching fish or can try cooking by purchasing live fish while cruising. Overnight stay in houseboat.

(Generally, we serve Kerala Food. North Indian and less spicy food will be provided on request and to be informed at the time of booking. A/c will work from 9 PM - 6 AM except Premium or Luxury category Houseboat will work as required. Check-in time is 12:30 PM and check out will be 9 AM. Cruise will be anchored by 6 PM. DAY 06 – ALLEPPY-KOVALAM

Morning after breakfast, proceed to Kovalam and check in at Hotel. Later in the evening enjoy boating in Poovar. Boating through the backwaters allows you to catch a sight of the native villagers going about their everyday work; connect with nature as well as the beauty of the area with surrounding dense mangrove forest, coconut groves, and exotic flowers and floating cottages. Followed by a visit to the renowned Kovalam beach. Kovalam is an internationally renowned beach destination. Kovalam has been a favourite haunt of tourists for decades. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 07 Kovalam/Trivandrum Sightseeing

  Proceed for a half-day sightseeing tour of Trivandrum. The major places covered will be a tour that starts with The Zoo, The Napier Museum, Art Gallery. Afternoon visit the KuthiramalikaHeritage Museum and the local market. By evening you will be taken to the famous Sri Padmanabha Swamy Temple (Strict dress code).  After Darshan you will be transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

Place To Stay

Day 01: cochin.

Arrive Cochin airport or railway station. You will be met on arrival by our representative. Proceed for a short unguided sight seeing of Cochin. Places of interest include the Jewish Synagogue; St. Francis Church, the Dutch Palace and the Chinese fishing nets. Overnight at Cochin

Day 02: Cochin/Munnar- 135kms

Today after breakfast you will be driven 04hours to Munnar. One of the most popular hill stations in India, Located at 1600 Mts above sea level. Sprawling tea plantations, picture book towns, winding lanes, trekking and holiday facilities make Munnar a unique experience. Munnar is essentially a tea town. The tea plantations have now been taken over by the Tata Tea Company. The visitor is greeted with miles and miles of unending tea plantations on entry into Munnar. On arrival, check in to the hotel.

Visit Tea Museum and Pothamedu View Point. Rest of the day relax and enjoy the cooler climate of the hills. Overnight at Munnar

Day 03: Munnar

Today morning after breakfast leave for the unguided sight seeing trip of Munnar, visiting the Mattupetty Dam , Echo point, Kundala Dam and Top station. Evening back to Resort.

If time permits visit Eravikulam National Park where you may see the very rare mountain goats locally called the Nilgiri Tahr. Overnight at Munnar

Day 04: Munnar/ Thekkady

Another leisurely start to the day. You will be driven 4 hours to Thekkady in the Western Ghats mountain range. Thekkady boasts one of the largest game parks of India – the Periyar Tiger Reserve, where you may spot the elusive tiger and more likely elephants, wild dogs and a large variety of birds. On arrival at Thekkady check in to the hotel.

There is plenty to do in and around Periyar. Perhaps enjoy a boat ride on Lake Periyar to spot wild animals and a visit to the nearby tea estates and spice plantation. Overnight at Thekkady

Day 05: Thekkady/ Alleppey

After the breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive 04 hours to Alleppey enjoying the stunning panoramic view of the Cardamom hills & green carpets of tea plantation. Embark into the Rice Barge – converted cargo boat for a lazy journey through the meandering backwaters as you watch local life going on by the banks. In the evening the boat will anchor safely for the night. Overnight at Alleppey

Day 06: Alleppey/Kovalam

After enjoying breakfast, check-out of the hotel and drive to Kovalam. Upon arrival, check-in to the hotel and enjoy rest of the day at leisure. Stay overnight at the hotel. Overnight at Kovalam

Day 07: Kovalam

Kovalam a favorite haunt of visitors since the 1930s, Kovalam consists of three successive crescent beaches. Sun bathing, Swimming, Ayurvedic Rejuvenation, Yoga and meditation, Herbal body toning massages, Special Cultural Programs, Catamaran cruising; the possibilities are many. The Kovalam lighthouse beach is where most visitors spend their time.

Day 08: Kovalam/Trivandrum

This Tour Package covers Munnar, Thekkady, Alleppey houseboat with 21hrs cruise, Kovalam, Trivandrum and drop at Trivandrum or Cochin. It is ideal to book return from Trivandrum instead of coming back to Cochin. The tour covers approximately 1050km- Cochin to Cochin in 6 days.

Cochin to Munnar

• Pick up from Cochin and drive to Munnar.
• Visit Cheeyappara and Valara Waterfalls as well Spice Garden on the way.
• Reach Munnar and rest for the day at the hotel.
• Suggest starting at 9 am for sightseeing with Eravikulam National park visit followed by Tea Museum.
• Post lunch, we visit the Mattuppetty dam, Echo point, Kundala Lake, Viewpoints, Pothamedu view point and Botanical Garden.
• Note: The Eravikulam National Park tickets can be booked in advance or at the counter.
• The park is closed from Feb to April due to the breeding time of goats.
• Tea Museum is closed on Monday.

Munnar to Thekkady

• Suggest to start by 9am as Munnar to Thekkady will take 3-4 hours.
• On reaching Thekkady, you may go for Periyar boating to see the Periyar wild life sanctuary (Tickets can be booked in advance or at the counter).
• In the evening, you can go for optional activities like Kathakali, Elephant ride, Elephant bath, Musical fountain, and Ayurveda massages.
• All the activities have separate entrance fees.

Thekkady to Alleppey Houseboat

• Thekkady to Alleppey would take 4 hrs hence suggest starting by 8 am to reach the houseboat by 12 – 1 pm.
• Houseboat will be stopped for lunch for 1hrs with the cruise till 5:30 pm.
• The boat will be anchored till the next day morning,with a 1-hour cruise in the morning for check out at 9 am.
• There are different categories of houseboats available like Deluxe, Premium, and Luxury, where Deluxe is the basic boat.
• In the houseboat, you will be greeted with a welcome drink, tea, snacks, mineral water, lunch, dinner, and breakfast.

Alleppey to Kovalam

• Alleppey to Kovalam can take 4 to 7 hours depending on the rush on the road.
• Hence it is suggested to start early from Alleppey to avoid traffic.
• On reaching Kovalam, you can visit beaches and move to the hotel for your stay.

Kovalam to Trivandrum or Cochin drop

• It is advisable to book a return flight or train from Trivandrum to save traveling time to Cochin.
• For the Trivandrum drop, sightseeing continues at Trivandrum.
• For the Cochin drop, drive back to cochin (7hrs).
• Our representative will leave you at Cochin/Trivandrum Airport/Railway station/Bus stand and will do the necessary support there.
• Drive back to your hometown with the sweet memories of the Kerala trip with us.

Day 01: Arrive Cochin Drive to Munnar |130Kilometers 04Hrs drive

You will be greeted by a representative of Munnar Holidays,Your Travel Planners in Kerala at the Kochi Airport and drive to one of the most preferred and beautiful hill stations in India, Munnar. Even on the way, you will witness the abundant natural beauty of Munnar. Once you are in Munnar you can experience the hill station in all its pristine natural beauty adorned with green pastures of spice plantations, beautiful rivulets, cascading waterfalls and dense forests. You will be checked-in at the hotel as and when you are arrived. You will have plenty of time to relax and be comfortable while enjoying the hospitality of the hotel. Your overnight stay is arranged at the hotel where you can sleep tight enjoying the chilly weather of Munnar.

Note: Guests are requested to book flights arriving into Cochin before noon to avoid late journey through the hilly areas to reach Munnar.

Day 02: Munnar Day Tour

At the hotel, you will be provided with your breakfast and fill your stomach enough to keep going at the exciting that is looming in front of you at Munnar. We will take you to the flower garden where you can witness a myriad of exotic and beautiful flowers. Then you will have one of the most exciting things to do in Munnar—an elephant safari. Riding on the back of a tusker will leave you gasping for breath. You will also be able to visit the Mattupetty Tea Factory en route where you can witness at close quarters how the most important ingredient of the world famous beverage, tea, is made here. We will then proceed to the stunningly attractive Mattupetty Dam, Echo-Point and Kundala Dam. If you would like, you can ride on the waters of Kundala Dam on a speeding boat. The next exciting item is the drive where you will be taken along the vegetable fields located at the high mountains of Munnar at the borders of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Relishing the memories of the day, you can sleep overnight at the hotel in Munnar.

Day 03: Munnar to Alleppey |160Kilometers 05Hrs Drive| Recommend to start by 08am

From Thekkady, after having breakfast, we will drive to another exciting place in Kerala to enjoy the scenic beauty of the backwaters—Alleppey, the Venice of the East. Endowed with diverse water bodies, intricate inland waterways, labyrinths of rivulets, and lakes, Alleppey will undoubtedly be embossed to your heart forever. The expansive stretches of green paddy fields, lines of coconut palms amidst the backwaters will make you fall in love with Alleppey and her immaculate beauty over and over again. You can also surely enjoy the exotic cuisine of Alleppey. Your overnight stay is arranged at House Boat Alleppey. If you so whish, you can go on a Canoe Cruise for extra cost.

Day 04: Alleppey – Trivandrum – Kovalam|190 Kilometres, about 04 Hours Drive

After breakfast drive to Trivandrum, on arrival, After Lunch begins the sightseeing in Trivandrum immediately after having a delicious breakfast. Enjoy visiting the 260 year old Sri Padmanabha Swami Temple at the heart of the city. You can also enjoy witnessing the grandeur and architectural marvel of the Puthan Maliga Palace Museum, which is the 200 year old palace of the Travancore Maharaja. The Napier Museum is another place of incredible tourist value with an electric display of such exceptional items as bronzes, Zoo, temple carts, Ivory carvings. The Sri Chitra Art Gallery will, definitely intrigue and invoke the lovers of art for sure. Your overnight stay is arranged at Kovalam.

Day 05: Departure from Trivandrum |120 Kilometres 03Hrs Drive depends upon traffic

DAY 1 : KOCHI SIGHTSEEING

At a distance of 10 km from Ernakulam Junction (South) Railway Station, Cochin Jewish Synagogue is a religious place located at Jew Town in the Mattancherry area of Kochi city. It is the oldest synagogue in the Commonwealth of Nations, and among the must-visit places during your Kochi tour . Also known as Paradesi Synagogue, & Mattancherry Synagogue, the Cochin Jewish Synagogue was constructed in 1568 by Samuel Castiel, David Belila, and Joseph Levi for the Malabari Jewish community who mainly migrated from the Middle East and Europe. In 1662, it was destroyed by the Portuguese and then reconstructed, two years later, by the Dutch. The synagogue is located in the quarter of Old Cochin known as Jew Town and is the only one of the seven synagogues of the Cochin Jewish community still in use. The complex has four buildings. It was built adjacent to the Mattancherry Palace temple on the land given to the Malabari Yehuden or 'Yehuden .....

2 Dutch Palace

At a distance of 10 km from Ernakulam Junction (South) Railway Station, Dutch Palace, also known as Mattancherry Palace is a Portuguese palace located in Mattancherry locality of Kochi. Situated near Jewish Synagogue, it is one of the famous heritage sites in Kerala , and among the must-include places in Kochi holiday packages .   The Mattancherry Palace was built around 1545 CE by the Portuguese and gifted to the King of Cochin Veera Kerala Varma in the year 1555 CE. The Portuguese influence was further supplanted by the Dutch, who took over Mattancherry in 1663. The Dutch then carried out some extensions and renovations in 1663, and since then the palace was popularly known as the Dutch Palace. 3 Indo Portuguese Museum

At a distance of 12 km from Ernakulam Junction (South) Railway Station, The Indo-Portuguese Museum situated in Fort Kochi is an important center to understand the Indo-Portuguese Christian Art heritage. The museum was established by Dr. Joseph Kureethra, Bishop of Kochi. It is divided into five main sections according to the nature of items displayed in each section, Altar, Treasure, Procession, Civil Life and Cathedral. The museum currently houses a piece of the altar made in teak wood from the Church of Our Lady of Hope, Vypeen, a chasuble from Bishop's House, Fort Kochi, Processional cross, which is a combination of silver and wood from Santa Cruz Cathedral, Fort Kochi, Indo-Portuguese Monstrance from The Church of Our Lady of Hope, Vypeen. Among the displayed items, the Coat of Arms of the Franciscans needs special mention. Timings: 10 AM to 5 PM. Closed on Mondays and Public Holidays.

4 Santa Cruz Basilica

At a distance of 13 km from Ernakulam Junction (South) Railway Station, the Santa Cruz Basilica is situated in Fort Kochi. This church was built by the Portuguese and elevated to a Cathedral by Pope Paul 1V in 1558. Later the British demolished the structure and Bishop Dom Gomez Vereira commissioned a new building in 1887. Consecrated in 1905, Santa Cruz was proclaimed a Basilica by the Pope John Paul II in 1984. It is one of the 8 basilicas in India and one of the oldest churches in India. The Church has two lofty spires and a remarkably bright, white-washed exterior and a pastel-colored interior. The interiors of the church are mostly Gothic. The columns decorated with frescoes and murals, the seven large canvas paintings on the passion and death on the Cross, especially the painting of the Last Supper, modeled on the famous painting of Leonardo da Vinci and the beautiful stained glass windows add to the artistic grandeur of the place.

5 Chinese Fishing Nets

At a distance of 13 km from Ernakulam Junction, Chinese Fishing Nets are a type of fishing nets that dotted the harbor's mouth at Fort Kochi. These are among the most popular Kochi tourist attractions . Locally known as Cheenavala, these nets were introduced in Fort Kochi by the Chinese explorer, Zheng He between 1350 and 1450 AD. The Chinese Fishing Nets are fixed land installations, used for fishing in a unique method. These nets are fixed on bamboo and teak poles holding them horizontally by huge mechanisms to pull them down into the sea. These nets are weighed by large stones tied to ropes. The entire structure of the Chinese fishing nets is 10 meters in height, spreads 20 meters over the water body, and is operated by a team of six fishermen. Also called as Mahatma Gandhi Beach, it is one of the finest beaches in Kerala , and among the prime places to visit as part of Kochi holiday packages . Often known as the 'Queen of the Arabian Sea', Fort Kochi Beach is a serene beach that offers a scenic view and natural beauty to its visitors. At a distance of 39 Kms from Munnar, the magnificent Valara Waterfalls is located between Adimali and Neriamangalam on Munnar to Kochi highway (NH49), near Cheeyappara Waterfalls. Valara features a chain of waterfalls falling from a height of about 1000 feet and provide a magnificent view. These waterfalls are surrounded by lush, dense forests that are home to a variety of animals and birds. It is one of the top waterfalls near Munnar. Though the falls are visible from highway, it demands good amount of trekking to reach the bottom of the falls. The surrounding places of the Valara Falls are good for trekking. The falls offer spectacular views in monsoon and post-monsoon seasons. This place is connected by buses running between Munnar and Kochi.

2 Tea Museum

At a distance of 3.5 km from Munnar Bus Station, Tea Museum is a wonderful place to visit in Munnar town. The museum is owned by Kannan Devan Hills Plantations Limited owned by Tata Group. Visit to Tea Museum is one of the top things to do in Munnar. The museum exhibits different equipment used in tea manufacturing from early 20th century to late 20th century. Some of the items exhibited in the museum include the tea leave cutting machines, power making equipment, etc. The process of tea manufacturing is also explained in the museum. The museum is situated in a scenic location on Pooyankuty Road on the outskirts of Munnar town. Timings: 10 AM to 4 PM. Monday Holiday. 3 Rose Garden

At a distance of 4 km from Munnar Bus Stand and 2.5 km from Top Station, Rose Garden is a well maintained flower garden situated on Munnar - Top Station Highway in Munnar, Kerala. It is one of the top places to visit in Munnar. Munnar Rose Garden is a beautiful garden with hundreds of rare varieties of flowers and herbal plants. With large tea plantations in the background, this place can be visited during a trip to Munnar. The garden is operated by Kerala Forest Development Centre (KFDC), a Govt. of Kerala undertaking. Spread across a few acres of land, this place has an amenity center for tourists and a sales outlet, in addition to hundreds of rare varieties of flowers, cactus, shrubs, creepers and herbal plants. 4 Pothamedu Viewpoint

At a distance of 3 km from Munnar Bus Station, Pothamedu Viewpoint is a spectacular vantage point situated on Bisonvalley road in Munnar. It is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Munnar and among the must-visit places as part of Munnar packages . Pothamedu Viewpoint offers a panoramic view of the Kannan Devan Hills of the Munnar region and it also offers a great view of the surrounding tea gardens. At a distance of 16 km from Munnar, Eravikulam National Park is a protected wildlife reserve located in Munnar. Situated on Munnar - Udumalpet Road, it is one of the popular national parks in Kerala , and among the must visit places during Munnar tour . The Eravikulam National Park was established to protect the Nilgiri Tahr. Earlier, the area was managed as a game preserve by the Kanan Devan Hills Produce Company. The government of Kerala resumed control in 1971 and declared the Eravikulam-Rajamala Wildlife Sanctuary in 1975 and became a National Park in 1978. The national park is spread across an area of 97sq. km and is a protected area. The park is extended into Tamil Nadu and is known as Annamalai Wildlife Sanctuary. 2 Photo Point

At a distance of 4 km from Munnar Bus Station, Photo Point is a beautiful spot on Mattupetty road lined up with tea gardens on both sides. As the name suggests, this place is a famous photography point in Munnar due to its breathtaking background of mountains surrounded by lush green tea gardens. Photo Point is one of the best tourist places to visit in Munnar . The tea gardens are owned by Kannan Devan Hills Plantations Limited owned by Tata Group and it is a private property. Visitors can take photographs at the entrance of garden without disturbing the plantations. This place is situated on the main road with running traffic and tourists are advised to be careful while taking pictures standing close to the road.

3 Mattupetty Dam

At a distance of 10 km from Munnar Bus Station, Mattupetty Dam is a storage Concrete Gravity dam situated on Top Station Road in Munnar. It is one of the best Munnar places to visit to experience the beauty of Munnar along with boating. Constructed in 1953, Mattupetty Dam was constructed under the Pallivasal Hydro-electric project for water conservation and power generation. Now the dam is a vital source of electricity generation in Munnar and also a haven for many wild animals and birds due to its constant water availability. The most attractive part of Mattupetty Dam is its still water which reflects the tea garden around. 4 Echo Point

At a distance of 15 kms from Munnar, Echo Point is a beautiful place situated on the way to Top Station between Mattupetty Dam and Kundala Lake. This is one of the major tourist places to visit in Munnar . Echo point is situate on the main road towards Kundala Lake on the backwaters of Mattupetty Dam amidst rolling hills. This scenic place gets its name from the natural echo phenomenon here. Every loud call made from a spot on the lake embankment is returned manifold by the echo from the surrounding hills. Trekking and nature walks are popular activities in this scenic destination with beautiful views of the green hills. 5 Kundala Lake

At a distance of 20 km from Munnar, Kundala Lake is a picturesque lake situated on the way to Top Station from Munnar. It is one of the scenic places to visit in Munnar . The lake is formed by Kundala artificial dam, which is a small dam in cured shape. The lake offer boating facility. The unique experience of boating in Kashmiri boats in this lake is a special attraction. These boats are also known as Shikara Boats. Kundala Lake is one of the best places for sightseeing in Munnar. The tea estates spread across Kundala are a real feast to the eyes. There is also a golf course which belongs to Tata Tea Ltd in Kundala village. 6 Top Station

At a distance of 32 Kms from Munnar, Top Station is a breathtakingly beautiful place on Kerala - Tamilnadu boarder. From here, one can get 360 degrees view of the Western Ghats. This is one of the best Munnar tourist places and among the prime place to visit on a Munnar tour . At an altitude of 2200 meters, this place is also known for the Neelakurunji Plant, which flowers only once every 12 years (next flowering year is 2018). The view point is at a distance of 2 kms from the road point and has to be trekked down. The trek path is very steep with deep valleys one side. One should be very careful while trekking to the view point, which offers lifetime memories. Top Station is the highest approachable road in South India. DAY 4 : TRAVEL FROM MUNNAR TO THEKKADY & THEKKADY SIGHTSEEING

Travel from munnar to thekkady, 1 periyar boat cruise.

Boat Cruise is the best mode in Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary to watch the wildlife from a close distance. Boating in Periyar Lake is arranged by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) and is one of the most popular things to do in Thekkady . The lake was formed by Mullaperiyar Dam constructed in 1895. The land surrounding the lake is commonly frequented by wildlife. Elephants are the most common wildlife you can see on the shores of the reservoir while boating in the lake as part of Thekkady holiday packages . Apart from Elephants, the sight of Wild Boar and Sambar Deer is also possible. The upper deck in the boat is best for wildlife viewing. The tickets for boating is issued at Thekkady Boating Point which is 4.5 Km from Kumily Bus Stand. 2 Elephant Rides

Elephant rides are famous in Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. The elephant rides through the spice gardens are arranged by Elephant Junction. This park is situated 4 Km away from Kumily Bus Stand. It offers a rare opportunity to experience the safari on an Elephant through a Spice Plantation where the gentle breeze refresh ones, with the spice scented air. The ancient capital of Travancore might be constructed before AD 1601. 4 Thiruvalluvar Statue

At a distance of 1.5 kms from Kanyakumari Bus Station & 1.5 km from Kanyakumari Railway Station (situated on Vivekananda Rock), Thiruvalluvar Statue is dedicated to the greatest Tamil poet, philosopher and saint - Thiruvalluvar. The pedestal of the statue is of 38 feet height and the statue over it is 95 feet tall with a grand total of 133 feet for the entire sculpture. The 3 tier pedestal known as Atharapeedam is surrounded by an artistic Mandapa with 38 feet height. To help the tourists to worship the holy feet of Thiruvalluvar 140 steps are constructed inside the Mandapa. The view from this point is quite breathtaking! At a distance of 1 km from Kanyakumari Bus Station & 1 km from Kanyakumari Railway Station (situated at the entrance of Beach Road), The Gandhi Memorial completed in 1956 is built in the memory of the Father of the Nation. An urn of Mahatma Gandhi was kept here for public to pay homage before immersion. Mahatma Gandhi visited Kanyakumari twice in 1925 and 1937. In 1948 his ashes were immersed in the sea waters in Kanyakumari. In commemoration of this event a beautiful monument has been constructed here. It's central shape is 79 feet high representing the age of the Mahatma at that time. The sun at Mid day on 2nd October would fall on the peedam through a hole in the roof.
