Fightstar

Fightstar became one of the biggest cult sensations in the UK’s early 2000s alt-rock scene with a Top 10 breakthrough hit ( ‘Paint Your Target’ ), two Top 20 albums ( ‘Be Human’ and ‘Behind The Devil’s Back’) and two Kerrang! Award nominations (for Best British Band and Best British Newcomer ). Although they haven’t played since 2015 , there has always been a devoted fanbase clamouring for their return. Now those calls have been answered with the news that Fightstar will play their biggest ever headline show - and their first gig in over eight years - at the OVO Arena Wembley on March 22nd .

Fightstar still consists of its original line-up - Charlie Simpson (vocals/guitar), Alex Westaway (guitar), Dan Haigh (bass) and Omar Abidi (drums) - who formed the band to explore their shared passion for influences such as Deftones , Taking Back Sunday , Silverchair and Mono .

Charlie Simpson says, “Next year marks 20 years since Fightstar played our first show in a tiny night club in Northampton, mainly in front of friends and family. To be sat here today about to play our biggest ever headline show at London’s legendary Wembley Arena is something that is hard for us to comprehend. We are so thankful to all our fans who have been so loyal to us and we can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with them. This will be a very special night for all of us.”

Fightstar return with 2024 London reunion show at Wembley: how to get tickets

Charlie Simpson has announced his band is to make a long-awaited comeback and we are not talking Busted but Fightstar.

The heavy rock band will mark their 20th anniversary with a special one-off show next year at London’s OVO Arena Wembley , which will be their first performance in eight years.

Simpson, the band’s singer, will be joined by fellow guitarist and vocalist Alex Westaway, bassist Dan Haigh and drummer Omar Abidi for the biggest show of their career.

For Simpson, the show will follow on the heels of a UK arena tour in support of Busted’s Greatest Hits 2.0 album which was released earlier this year.

Simpson left Busted to form Fightstar in 2004 after feeling his heart was not in the music of the more pop-oriented band. But he has played with both in the years since and has had other projects on the go including a solo career.

He said: “Next year marks 20 years since Fightstar played our first show in a tiny nightclub in Northampton, mainly in front of friends and family.

“To be sat here today about to play our biggest ever headline show at London’s legendary Wembley Arena is something that is hard for us to comprehend.

“We are so thankful to all our fans who have been so loyal to us and we can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with them. This will be a very special night for all of us.”

Simpson has humoured fans on his Twitter page by retweeting a hopeful message by an account called Fightstar Come Back – an account purely dedicated to asking for a return.

Fightstar reunite and announce massive 20th anniversary show

They're back!

Fightstar have officially ended their eight-year hiatus and they will play a massive show celebrating their 20th anniversary next year.

Charlie Simpson, Alex Westaway, Dan Haigh and Omar Abidi will play one night only show at London OVO Arena, Wembley on Friday 22nd March 2024.

It’s their first confirmed concert since the Behind The Devil’s Back UK tour way back in October 2015.

Joining Fightstar as very special guests at the Wembley gig are Twin Atlantic and Loathe.

Tickets go on sale from Kerrang! Radio Tickets at 9am on Friday 10th November.

Charlie Simpson says, “Next year marks 20 years since Fightstar played our first show in a tiny night club in Northampton, mainly in front of friends and family.

"To be sat here today about to play our biggest ever headline show at London’s legendary Wembley Arena is something that is hard for us to comprehend.

"We are so thankful to all our fans who have been so loyal to us and we can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with them. This will be a very special night for all of us.”

Charlie Simpson exclusively shared the news of Fightstar’s reunion plans in an interview with Kerrang! Radio in February.

Fresh winning The Masked Singer as Rhino, Charlie told Paul Reddin: “I was actually with the boys for the first time
we were all together at Al’s 40th (Fightstar guitarist Alex Westaway) two weeks ago and we had the best night. Definitely.

“It’s finding the time that we can all do it together because obviously everyone's doing their own separate things. But I think the last record we did, ‘Behind the Devil's Back’, was our best record. That to me was like everything I wanted Fightstar to be.

“So, I feel like I'd be super pumped to maybe get back in the studio and do some songs and then go back up the road celebrate 20 years. (It) would be awesome.”

After meeting Alex Westaway in 2003, Charlie Simpson formed Fightstar away from his day job with Busted to focus on the type of rock music he wanted to make.

Fightstar unleashed four studio albums between 2006 and 2015 before going on hiatus for the past eight years.

In September 2002, a bust of legendary T. Rex singer Marc Bolan was unveiled at the location of the car crash that claimed his life aged 29. The T. Rex Action Group (TAG) launched Marc Bolan's Rock Shrine in 1997 (the 20th anniversary of his passing) with a memorial stone, and five years later the bronze sculpture of Bolan was revealed. It was paid for exclusively by T-Rex Action Group founder Fee Warner, sculpted by Canadian sculptor Jean Robillard, and unveiled by Bolan's son Rolan Bolan. The sculpture features lyrics from Tyrannosaurus Rex's 1968 song 'Child Star.'

The fan-funded statue was the brainchild of AC/DC aficionados Michel Remy, Mike Davister and Georges Boussingault with support from the local radio station RTBF Classic 21. On the day of its unveiling, Brian Johnson said: "I'd like to say a very special thank you to all the donors and fans in Namur. It's a very special place for me. It was the first might I sang with AC/DC, and I was a very nervous boy. So that memory will stay with me forever, and now that you've built this statue, honestly, I'm not worthy of it. I thank you and I'll take it in good grace. I'll never forget what you've done for me."

Keeping the crowd waiting in suspense to then have Be Human's opening track "War Machine" power over the near hysterical front rows was just the kind of opening you'd expect from Charlie Simpson's Fightstar.

Having seen them once before in early days of the "Grand Unification" album, I entered the gig at Heaven with high expectations.

Drilling out a set nicely balanced between old and new, Fightstar show they're not the kind of band to give any less than their absolute all, no matter how big or small the venue.

With newer tracks "Mercury Summer" and "The English Way" being very well received, the die hard Fightstar fans among the usually diverse audience at their gigs make themselves by belting out every single word to "Paint Your Target" and "Palahniuk's Laughter".

While the set was a bit shorter than most would have liked, Simpson as the ever enigmatic front-man succeeds in making every member of the audience appreciated and entertained. And if that wasn't already enough, a cheeky encore acoustic cover of Deftones "Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away) certainly did the trick.

I'd tell you more about them finishing with Deathcar, but surviving one of the most insane moshpits I have ever witnessed in my life took priority there. Worth every minute.

I'm a veteran gig goer and my very favourite are in small - medium size venues, guitar bands, punk slant, and moshing makes things complete!

However for me, Fightstar were a disappointment. I'm not sure the sound mix was great - I couldn't discern the separate sounds of the instruments - was a wall of sound but not in a good sense, more of a mess. They sound so much better on recording.

As to the moshing, a few meatheads trying to look tough with their shirts off didn't hit the spot either. And one idiot tried to crowd surf I didn't appreciate a big heavy but lump on my head so he took a dive to the floor - luckily for him and weirdly for a rock venue it was carpeted!

As this was my first Fightstar gig and my third concert in my life, I thought this was absolutely amazing. The mosh pits were insane and the crowd were fantastic. I would definitely recommend seeing this band to anyone.

How to buy Taylor Swift tickets: Eras Tour dates and prices compared

When you buy through our links, Business Insider may earn an affiliate commission. Learn more

Taylor Swift's reign continues as she ramps up for the next leg of The Eras Tour. The singer-songwriter will kick off the European portion of her world tour in Paris in May, which will continue throughout the summer. From there, she'll return to North America to tour Canada and a few remaining US cities in the fall. If you're hoping to attend, we've compiled all of the details of The Eras Tour, including how to get Taylor Swift tour tickets.

Swift's Eras Tour has taken the world by storm since March 2023. The three-plus-hour tour features hits from each of Swift's album eras, from "Lover" to her recent Grammy Award-winning "Midnights." Each show also features surprise songs and occasional guests, so fans never quite know what they're in for. Swift will release her latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department," in April, but it's unknown if any of those songs will make their way to the tour setlist.

Getting tickets has become its own battle and many fans have waited hours in the Ticketmaster queue to hopefully snag some seats, if they could get a presale ticket code in the first place. While Swift continues to extend the tour, including new US dates, tickets remain hard to come by.

Below, we've put together a guide on everything to know about The Eras Tour, including the tour schedule, ticket purchasing details, resale ticket prices, and the concert film streaming options . You can also peruse resale vendors like StubHub and Vivid Seats at your leisure.

Taylor Swift international tour dates

The Eras Tour international dates resume on May 9 in Paris. The European tour will run until August 20 in London. UK prices are listed in pounds, and start times vary from city to city. US dates start in October and can be found under the following table.

Taylor Swift North American tour dates

The Eras tour will return to the US on October 18 in Miami. In addition to the Miami shows, Swift will perform multiple dates in New Orleans and Indianapolis. On November 14, Swift will head to Canada for several shows in Toronto and Vancouver. All North American shows start at 7 p.m. local time.

How to buy tickets for Taylor Swift's 2024 tour

Original standard tickets for Taylor Swift's 2024 sold out long ago for both international and domestic dates. All US tickets and many international tickets were sold through Ticketmaster , although select international locations used different services.

Tickets for most dates are available on resale websites like StubHub and Vivid Seats . These are generally higher-priced than the originals, which are no longer available. Keep in mind that some countries have rules regarding reselling tickets.

How much are Taylor Swift tickets?

Ticket prices vary by date and location. International resale tickets tend to be a bit cheaper than US resale tickets. It's worth noting that some of the cheapest tickets have restricted views.

StubHub's cheapest European tickets range from $392 (Madrid, Spain, on May 29) to ÂŁ978 (London, United Kingdom, on June 22). The latter is around $1,248 in USD. The lowest prices for most shows are around $450 to $1,000. On Vivid Seats , the cheapest tickets for these dates go for $549 and $683, respectively.

When it comes to North American shows, the cheapest StubHub tickets range from $1,045 (Vancouver, Canada, on December 8) to $2,081 (Miami, Florida, on October 19). Most of the cheapest tickets are priced between $1,200 and $1,800. On Vivid Seats, the cheapest Taylor Swift tickets on these dates start at $1,133 and $2,212, respectively. The two resale vendors generally have similarly priced offerings, but this varies from show to show.

Who is opening for Taylor Swift's tour?

Taylor Swift has a variety of opening acts, from up-and-coming singers to established groups. Opening acts vary by date. For the European leg of the tour, Paramore will open for Swift. In the US and Canada, Gracie Abrams will be the opening act.

Will Taylor Swift add more dates to the Eras Tour?

Taylor Swift already added additional stops to her tour due to popular demand, including her US tour dates this fall. She also added additional dates to some of her European city stops, including bonus performances in France and the United Kingdom, among other locations. It's unknown whether Swift will end up adding even more tour dates, but by the end of the upcoming US leg she will have been touring for almost two years, so fans shouldn't be surprised if she takes a break.

Where can I stream The Eras Tour concert film?

If you'd rather watch The Eras Tour from home, you could always stream it on Disney+. Check out everything you need to know about streaming The Eras Tour concert film in our guide .

Maxïmo Park share uplifting single ‘Favourite Songs’ and announce 2024 UK and European tour

The single marks the first new music from the band in more than 18 months

MaxĂŻmo Park, 2024.

Maxïmo Park have shared a new single titled ‘Favourite Songs’ and announced details of an upcoming UK and European tour. Check out the track and find ticket details below.

  • READ MORE: MaxĂŻmo Park v Architects marks the return of the indie chart battle. But why now?

The newly-shared single marks the first new material from the band in over 18 months, and comes as somewhat of a salute to the impact that pop music can have on its listeners – celebrating how it can provide solace in times of need, and a place to retreat into with like minds.

“ My best years are behind me/ but I’ll be damned if I’m giving up/ your intervention was timely/ I was acceptable, at a push/ am I able to sit at the big boy’s table? ” frontman Paul Smith questions at the start of the uplifting track, while a poppy guitar riff and shimmering synths sit behind.

It also comes alongside a black-and-white music video, which shows the singer singing directly to the camera, as well as swirling visuals of the city around him.

“Our aim was to create a peppy yet powerful ode to the consolation of music and companionship in the face of other people’s preconceptions,” Smith explained of the inspiration behind the song. Check it out above.

Alongside news of the new single, Maxïmo Park have also shared details of a new tour – set to run across the UK and Europe later this year.

The shows kick off with an opening night in Dublin on October 8, followed by a follow-up slot at the Limelight 2 venue in Belfast the following night (9).

From there, UK shows include slots in Norwich, Edinburgh, Leeds, Brighton, Bristol, Birmingham, Sheffield and Newcastle, as well as a headline show at the Islington Assembly Hall in London on October 18.

After the UK leg of the tour wraps up, the band will head over to Amsterdam on November 4 to launch their remaining European dates. Taking part through the first half of the month, the dates comprise nine shows – including gigs in Paris, Cologne, Copenhagen, Verlin, Munich and more.

General sale begins at 10am GMT on Thursday (March 28) and tickets can be found here . Additionally, a fan pre-sale is also available from tomorrow (March 27) at the same time.

In other MaxĂŻmo Park news, it was confirmed earlier this year that the band would be joining The Kooks for their huge summer 2024 show at Brighton Beach, also featuring performances from Sea Girls and Kate Nash .
