  • Photo Expeditions
  • Photo Expeditions are led by accomplished photographers and instructors  who are also professional naturalist guides—wildlife experts who understand animal patterns and behaviors, and who know how and where to position you for the best photo opportunities.
  • While all our trips feature small groups, Photo Expeditions travel with even fewer guests , to ensure unimpeded access to the best shots,  plenty of room for your gear aboard our vehicles, and the utmost in flexibility to pursue photo opportunities as they arise.
  • Slower pacing and longer days in the field allow patience to pursue the shots that require it. We often rise early and linger through sunset to capitalize on the best light.
  • Some Photo Expeditions also include  extra weight allowance on select flights to accommodate equipment—a key inclusion in certain destinations, especially when you compare allowances for African safaris.
  • You'll get all the personal attention you need from our outstanding photographer guides, who provide one-on-one coaching tailored to each guest’s interests and ability.
  • Photo Expeditions also include special training and workshops on everything from composition and lighting to editing and post-processing techniques.

Worldwide Photography Tours Since 1980

Join us and turn your lens towards the extraordinary!

Embarking on a Van Os Photo Safari is no ordinary journey—it’s an immersive photographic experience. We provide the best in outdoor photography and related travel, unlike other travel companies that merely include photography as a side activity. This means we spend much more time at each location, allowing for deeper exploration and photography of the wildlife, wild places, cultures, and architectural treasures we encounter.

Our photo tours are designed specifically for nature and outdoor photography enthusiasts, offering a focused and productive photography experience. We prioritize time in the field for you to hone your photography skills and savor the joy of capturing a singular moment in time through your lens—rather than spending the precious in-the-field time you’ve traveled so far to enjoy in instructional image processing sessions in hotel conference rooms.

We regularly start our days with the sunrise and end with the sunset, capturing images in the soft, low light—the ideal time for photography. We take breaks when midday light is harsh, giving us time to rest, recharge and download before heading back into the field. Our trips are paced to allow for relaxed and unhurried photography. We aim to make photography both productive and fun without beating up our tour participants.

Our destinations include national and state parks, wildlife reserves, private ranches, tribal lands, deserts, rain forests, remote islands, wildlife migration stopovers, medieval villages, and culturally significant World Heritage areas. We always ensure we have the necessary permits and permissions, and we are authorized by the US National Park Service.

We typically use vans, boats, and small buses for transportation. When shooting from inside a boat or vehicle, we make sure to arrange for ample space within reasonable logistical and cost considerations, to provide the best possible photography experience.

We pride ourselves on our attention to detail and commitment to quality. From the moment you contact us until we bid you farewell; you can expect the excellent service and tour arrangements upon which our world-class reputation is based. Our Photo Safaris include all meals, comfortable accommodations, in-tour transportation, entrance fees, leader services, and other essentials for a successful trip. We are in the “trip-of-a-lifetime” business—a company that offers unsurpassed outdoor photography experiences.

Adventure Photo Tours

Over the years, Harry Fisch has led and organized small, carefully designed, exclusive photo tours to exotic destinations. Our expeditions are exciting, passionate, and fun. Photography is our excuse to explore different worlds, to discover realities other than our own, and to see what happens behind the scenes and beyond what a normal traveler sees and experiences. Travelers of all levels and ages, novices, and experienced photographers, join our trips with a focus on travel photography and people. This is not a sightseeing tour in which a photographer has been included.

A man in a tribe in Guinea New Papua

Who's Harry Fisch

harry fisch

Harry Fisch is a travel photographer who founded Nomad Photo Expeditions in 2011. The Winner of the 2012 World National Geographic photo contest in the Places Category and later disqualified due to editing-out a plastic bag (read the post (read the post How I won and lost the National Geographic contest in less than one second" ).

finalist in the Sony 2012 World Photo Awards, two Jury Awards in 2014 in the Grand Prix de la Découverte, 2019 two IPA Professional Awards of Merit, 2019 finalist in the Travel Photographer of the Year. In 2020 he has been awarded a Bronze in the professional category on the MIFA (Moscow International Foto Awards), 2020 finalist at the IPA as well as two honorable mentions. 2021 was the year for a 1st price (Gold) in the Fine-Art category of the prestigious PX3 (Prix de la Photographie de Paris) as well as a honorable mention. In 2022 The Tokyo International Foto Prizes (TIFA) made an official selection of 3 of his series and awarded two additional series with Honorable Mentions. In 2022 he won LENS CULTURE (Critic's Choice) award and CRITICAL MASS award

Harry Fisch's work has been published in various prestigious web photography sites such as Lens Culture, Maptia, Ephotozine, to name a few. He contributes to International Photography Magazines as SLR Lounge, Lightstalking, Digital Photography school, Extraordinary Vision Magazine, (USA), Photography Week, Digital World (UK), Fotógrafo Digital(Spain), and several other.

His interest in the photography of localities and cultural realities has seen him travel through the "Golden Triangle" area between Laos, Burma and Thailand, the camel fair of Pushkar in India, visiting the famous temples of Bagan in Myanmar or spending days in the lost salt mines in the desert of the Kutch. Mongolia, Cuba, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Senegal, Japan, are just an example of the destinations - more than 50 countries - that Harry Fisch has documented and later included on many itinerary of his photo tours.

Harry Fisch designs the photographic tours from the human perspective; looking for different locations, sometimes a nearby residence, or attending an event, accepting an invitation that can make contact between the traveler and the people the photographer more real and personal.

After years of traveling, has come to the conclusion that technique and vision are indispensable tools, but that empathy, curiosity, pleasure through personal relationships are the determinants which enable photography to transmit so much more than a post card.

Who's Roberto Pazzi

Roberto Pazzi

“Photography makes me look at the world like a child. That reminds me that the simplest things are also the most important ones….” Simple moments and images describing the wonderful miracle of life. Every single face is like a book of the life of someone where every wrinkle is telling a story of that book. Behind every human being there are stories made of emotions, scents, lives, rumors, memories, voices, tired hands, wet eyes, smiles."

  • A Great Experience
  • Small Groups
  • The Best Access
  • Accommodations
  • Needed Skills

Incredible destinations, great locations within the destinations, interesting subjects and places, the best photographic support and a positive day to day atmosphere. All this together with nice lodging and food. Most of our trips are Photo Tours, and a few Workshops. On a photo tour we spend about 80%of our photo time taking photos, and about 20% on analyzing them and honing our vision.

Far less academic than a photography workshop, these trips take place in remote areas that are beautiful and certainly intense, and you start in hands on from the get-go. A professional photographers will give you advice on the technical aspects of photography as needed, but above all, about the environment of the shooting: the way to approach the subject, the preparation, the equipment. Spontaneous lessons will alternate between set photo sessions,, analysis of photographic techniques and photo reviewing.

We put together small groups, between 6 and 10 people at the most, which we keep small in order to fit in all of the special interests of each participant. A friendly and less aggressive integration between the traveler and the locations we visit. The size of the group does matter. Sharing knowledge with people going on photo trips has to be done personally. On one hand, a big group just can’t make “intimate” photos and on the other, the leading photographer can’t devote enough attention to the individual traveler-photographer within a large group.

With plenty of time to discuss technical problems, creative doubts, or any other personal matters that may arise. Some are concerned with technique, others with how to approach human subjects, and almost all of them with their personal approach to the artistic element of photography.

Beyond the destination itself we look at the most interesting themes and subjects in each location. You need to know what is authentic or of genuine photographic interest and what isn’t, and you need, of course, a solid connection to the locals.

Years of investment in local research, looking for interesting places to visit, struggling to create the proper contacts, handpicking hotels.  We are all passionate about photography, and want our clients to share that. We approach this challenge by creating opportunities to catch everything at its best; people interacting until we hit the perfect, most natural and real scene.

Only after years of photographic experience on the ground do you get to know a locale’s special feeling, out of the way places, and how to make ties with the people who live there as well as with their reality.

Our priority, when choosing accommodation, is to give you proximity to the desired photographic location and contact with local people. All in comfort! 4 stars hotels, boutique hotels and occasionally 5 stars. We stay at well-placed hotels that allow us to reach the area of photography in a short time, and have good amenities, such as that have private bathrooms, air conditioning and/or fans.

We share our destinations with passionate beginners as well as advanced amateurs and, occasionally, with a “pro”. Much of the style of the tutoring on our trips is focused on the analysis of the work needed to create a picture: what can be relevant to a scene, how to establish the plot of the photograph, how to guide the eye of the viewer, create a rhythm and a direction for the photograph.

Photo tours are always a different experience, an opportunity to see the world through a new point of view. Photography trips are unforgettable as we have the chance to visit other cultures and collect images able to tell stories by themselves. At Nomad Photo Expeditions, we organize photography travel tours around the world, a unique kind of travel to boost your photographic skills while you explore the other face of the world.

All our travel photography experiences are prepared to connect and share with locals, approaching their lives , these are adventure photo tours so we work to be part of that culture for a few days. During these days you can take pictures around discovering people, landscape and details to understand the history of the land.

Photography expeditions are the best excuse to approach to other philosophies and values, expand your knowledge and keep an extraordinary memory.

Nomad photography is centred in photo expeditions along a territory, where travellers can take images which relate the particular character of the place. We organize different photography adventure events around the world. These are our best photo tours.

China is a country full of contrasts, in this tour we visit Beijin and the southern zone of this unreachable country, where we can live with local tribes full of folklore and traditions. This expedition photo tour starts in Beijing, the capital of China, where we visit the main points of interest like the Temple of the sky and the night market of Dong Hua Men. The rest of the trip will be a unique possibility to discover this country through their typical tribes.

Cuba is a place with its own taste. In this photo tours you can experience a photographic engagement with the island, visiting hidden locations that you cannot visit with typical travel agencies. Some of the best photographers in the history have chosen Cuba as the perfect landscape for their works, the reason is very simple, Cuba offers a paradise where the time stands still and people live the island as a huge party.

Ethiopia represents all the ethnicities and traditions of Africa. This is a very uncommon photo tour to know ancient cultures and take pictures close to the locals. The South Omo tribes. Landscapes in the centre of Africa are outstanding, the savannah and all the creatures that survive in this place are ready for you, to represent all the beauty of this place of the world which is the origin of the human being. We visit Lalibela, in the north of the country, to know local tribes and live their traditions with them.

Varanasi is the oldest inhabited city in the world, many times we visit this place in our photographic tour as well as Jaipur, Jodhpur or Udaipur in the north of India. On many of our tours we end in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. We love India, so we have another option based in a travel to Mumbai and other cities in the south part of the country, where you can assist to different elephant festivals and take some of the best pictures of your life.

Naadam is a traditional festival located in Mongolia where foreign people can learn the depth of the Mongolian folklore. Another good excuse to choose this photographic tour is the eagle training experience, where locals train all the eagles as hunting assistants. Come with us to this special experience in the hearth of Asia.

Marrakech, Essaouira, Merzouga…, this North African country has dozens of reasons to visit it, and we prepare each year a complete photo tour visiting some of the most attractive cities of Morocco. As part of the experience, we enjoy different activities exploring the desert with great hotels as well as camps in Jaima, the local accommodation for nomads, for a night. Morocco is full of charm and we visit the less known part of this country.

We visit Peru to enjoy Inti Raymi, the Sun Festival, but we discover other treasures kept in this country like the Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca. One of the best parts of this adventure photo tour is spend time with Aymaras, a tribe that lives in different zones of Peru, Bolivia and Chile. Peru is tradition, is food, music and popular art, if you are looking for a place with a singular character come with us to Peru.

If you want to improve your photography skills with an expert guide just choose one of our programs for amateur photographers of all levels. You will learn tips while exploring some of the most beautiful places around the world. Contact us for more information.

Why the trips are not by train with the Japan Rail Pass?

As we look to be at the right moment in the perfect place, moving by car it’s the cheapest and most comfortable way. Also, as our trips are based on groups of 4 persons with a guide, we move with small vans around Japan. This way we can adapt the schedules to our own interests. If we decided to use the JR Pass and travel by Shinkansen bullet train, we not will have the same freedom.

Can you take pictures in Japan?

For sure, you can take photos in all public places in Japan. You just need to ask for permissions if you have commercial purposes as in most countries of the world. And like other places, you can find the international signs that could tell you to not take photos. If you are not sure, kindly ask a local. Take a look at our gallery of Photos in Japan!

Kyoto photography tour

Can you travel now?

Yes, with the actual situation enter to Japan is possible for almost all countries. You can keep your seat now as bookings are going fast!

You will need to travel with an official travel agency and get the ERFS certificate. We have our own local agency in Japan, so with us, travel to Nippon is easy!

Which currency is used?

In Japan, the currency is the Japanese Yen.

Don’t think that you can pay everywhere with a credit card in Japan. Although you can’t pay in euros , you can convert once there to the Japanese Yen at the same airport. We suggest changing around 300-500 euros or dollars and use your travel credit card  there.

tokyo tower sunset

How much money will you need for your trip?

You should plan to spend around ¥3,000 ($28) per day on our photo tours in Japan , which is the average daily price based on meals that are not included.

Why is food so cheap ?

It´s because the purchasing power and standard of living of the Japanese are very high. You can buy a decent meal with a low budget . As a basic necessity, Japanese cuisine is relatively inexpensive compared to the level of life in Japan.

shijuku street photography

Do I need a Visa to enter?

To  enter Japan you need a passport and a visa unless you are from a country that is visa-exempt . In case you need it, the Japanese government is going to introduce the e-visa. In case is not currently implemented, you will need to visit the Japanese embassy or consulate to apply for a  visa .

What month is the cheapest fly?

According to different flight searches, the cheapest months to take a flight to Japan is from January to April. Although in March is cherry blossoms, you can find economic flights. The high season is summer, so even in November-December, you can find good deals.

Why is tipping rude in the country?

The Japanese culture is based on the belief that the price includes already good service . This way, pay extra can be considered insulting. Respect the cultural rules, even if it looks strange for you. Simply be polite , and say thanks to the waiter or waitress after enjoying the service.

Well-used and complete photography tour, with good photography scenes

Andrew Teakle

The spring tour through Japan was absolutely full of wonderful photographic opportunities and great camaraderie. With only four participants we all got to know each other well and got to see the most beautiful sites. Eduardo was easy-going with good humour (and excellent music taste) and tremendous photographic experience. The accommodations were excellent and this has to be the best value Japan Cherry Blossoms tour on the market.

image photo tours

This Japan tour was not only well organized, but also a lot of fun. We had a great group of photographers with a lot of camaraderie and humor visiting great sites, we would never have found without Eduardo’s fine insight. Highly recommended!

image photo tours

PhotoWorldTour’s JapanSakura tour was both a highlight and a sustained happy pill. In the course of a few days, we traveled in Spanish through large parts of Japan’s most beautiful areas. Eduardo – as well as his lucky mascot Missifou – is the best tour guide I’ve had. Relaxed, funny and so democratically oriented that we called him “our glorious leader” without being the least bit ironic. We stayed in good hotels and got up before sunrise to get the best possible photos. Then a small pause before the next image sequence..etc. Collectively, we covered larger parts of central Japan in a way that we certainly wouldn’t have been able to do without his knowledge. This was fun, simply 🌹

PHOTOGRAPHY TOURS - CAPTURE THE ATLAS

image photo tours

Will the Photo tour leader help us with our photography during the tour?

At Capture the Atlas, Photo Tour leaders will be available 24/7 for you, whether it is for helping with your photography or for any other thing related to the Tour.

Photo Tour leaders will share their knowledge and vision with you, always challenging your photography creative process disregarding your skills and experience.

We believe that in each destination and scene there is a new challenge for everyone, so we strongly believe in sharing and growing during the days that we will spend together.

Is the tour conducted in English?

Yes, our tours are aimed at international participants and are conducted in English. We are also Spanish-speakers and Dan can also speak Italian in case you are more comfortable speaking in any of those languages.

Can my non-photographer significant other/friend join the Photo Tour?

We welcome non-photographer partners and friends to join our tours but always make a reminder: These are Photography tours where photography is the first goal and we prioritize the time for photography.

This usually means waking up before sunrise, staying until late if there are good shooting conditions, having lunch later than usual and other flexible conditions that are understandably linked to the nature of a Photography Tour. If your partner/friend is fine with that, he/she can sign up with you.

Accommodation during the tour

How is the accommodation during the photo tour.

This will depend entirely on the Photo Tour. Our goal is to provide with quality accommodation trying to offer two single beds in a shared room with private bathroom.

This is not always possible since some accommodation services are located in remote locations where we might be sharing the bathroom or even sleeping in tents, like in Kamchatka.

You can find the accommodation information for the trip in the specific Photo Tour page. If you have any additional questions feel free to reach out to us.

Do I need to pay extra for a single room if I am traveling by my own?

If you are coming solo, you will be assigned a shared room with another participant.

In some tours we can offer the possibility of a private single room for an extra amount, but please consider that this is not always possible.

Is there going to be a private bathroom in the room?

If there is a possibility of having a private bathroom in the room we will always go for this option.

However, in some accommodations like the wooden cabin houses in the Lofoten islands or some remote locations in Iceland, the bathroom will be shared by more people.

We will always provide this information in advance in the specific Photography workshop page.

Transportation during the photo tour

What type of ground transportation you use in your photo tours.

Depending on the Tour and the number of participants the transportation can vary from a large car to a passenger car or even bigger vehicles like the 8WD Kamaz in remote places like Kamchatka.

Our goal is that you can travel safe and as comfortable as possible during the entire Photo Tour.

Can I charge my camera/phone during  displacements?

Yes, we recommend bringing a USB battery charger to charge your camera batteries during the Photo Tour.

Diets & Meals during the photography workshop

Are meals included in the photo tour.

In most photography tours, meals will not be included. However, check the INCLUDED / NOT INCLUDED section of the particular photo trip.

Which type of restaurants are we going to?

We consider always the best options in each destination in terms of local and natural products, good quality-price, and general positive reviews.

Do you consider vegetarian options?

We always consider vegetarian options. Please let us know if you are vegetarian/vegan before the Tour so we can include more options.

Do you consider Celiac and other food allergies/diseases?

Of course. If you need to follow a gluten-free diet or have any specific allergy or food disease, please let us know before the Tour so we can adapt. There will be a specific section in the Photo Tour registration form about this.

Please consider that during our photo expeditions in some remote locations, it might be more difficult to find a variety of vegan or gluten-free options, so in these cases, we recommend that you carry some dried or canned food in case there are no options available.

Editing/Processing lessons & Photography Activities

Are post processing lessons included.

Post processing lessons will be included according to the instructions provided in each photo tour page.

In some places these will be adjusted to the weather, having the lessons when conditions are bad or hazardous to be shooting outside.

Which topics do you cover during your post-processing lessons?

We cover everything from the basics in the editing to advanced post processing techniques like Bracketing, focus stacking, focal blending, advanced color theory, etc.

We also cover the vision, something that usually goes overlooked in landscape photography and is key to develop our own artistic voice.

Do I need to take my own laptop?

Taking your own laptop to the Tour is a personal choice. It can help you follow some of the processing lessons and practicing with us during the free time.

Do you have any other photography activities included in the Tours?

In some Photo Tours there will be some room for other photography activities like photography talks, group constructive criticism, photography contests etc.

We strongly believe on fun ways of sharing and learning together.

Photo tours bookings, payments, and cancellations

What forms of payment do you accept.

We accept payments by credit card, bank wire transfer, Paypal, check, and Venmo/Zelle (for the USA).

What is the payment policy for your photography tours?

  • To reserve your spot, a deposit per participant is required at the time of registration. The deposit amount will depend on the Photo Tour; Some Photo Tours may require a higher additional deposit due to advance booking or transportation requirements.
  • Final Payment in FULL is required between 120 and 90 days before departure depending on the Photo Tour.
  • Payment in full is required when registration is completed less than 90 days before the departure date.

Do I need to book my Photography Tour in advance?

Our advice is always Yes. We can’t provide an estimation of when a Photo Tour will be filled; Sometimes it’s a matter of days while others there might be spots available for a longer period of time. We can’t predict group bookings either, so even if there are 4 or 5 spots available they can be filled overnight.

For that reason, we always recommend booking your spot as soon as possible and consider the option of purchasing cancel trip insurance in case you can’t attend the photo workshop for any reason.

What is the cancelation policy for your photo tours?

120 days or more before departure.

If your spot is filled by another participant, we’ll refund your deposit minus payment processing fees and $100 administrative fee.

If we cannot fill your spot, a $300 cancellation fee will apply, plus any additional costs incurred, as well as any fees that are charged by the suppliers providing the services included in the photo tour such as hotels, transportation, tours and others.

61-120 DAYS BEFORE DEPARTURE

If your spot is filled by another participant, we will refund your deposit minus payment processing fees and $100 administrative fee.

If we cannot fill your spot, a $500 cancellation fee will apply, plus any additional costs incurred, as well as fees, if applicable, that are charged by the suppliers providing the services included in the photo tour such as hotels, transportation, tours and others.

60 DAYS OR LESS BEFORE DEPARTURE OR ANYTIME AFTER DEPARTURE

If your spot is filled by another participant, there will be a $300 administrative fee charged and the rest of your payment will be refunded.

If we cannot fill your spot, NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN and your deposit and tour payments will be forfeited.

*Regardless of the cancelation notice, if the participant receives any of our online courses upon signup, the amount of the course will be debited from the final refund.

You can find our complete cancelation policy information more detailed in our Terms and conditions .

Photo tour travel insurance and medical conditions

Do i need travel insurance for the photo tour.

Your safety is our priority, so travel insurance is mandatory to attend any Capture the Atlas Photo Tours.

The minimum coverage required is:

  • Accident & Sickness Medical Expense Coverage (minimum $100,000 USD)
  • Emergency Evacuation & Repatriation of Remains (minimum $200,000 USD)
  • Accidental Death / Dismemberment
  • Trip Cancellation Coverage

Where can I purchase the best travel insurance for the Photo Tour?

There are many providers in the market, and deciding which is the best travel insurance for you might be overwhelming.

We usually recommend Worldnomads , since they cover a wide range of activities besides the normal coverage, and Insuremytrip , as they help you compare among the best options and offer an advocate service to assist you in case you need to file a claim.

You can dive deeper into the best travel insurance for Photo Tours in this article we wrote on the best travel insurance companies in the market.

Is there any other insurance recommended for the Photo workshop?

In addition to the minimum coverage stated above, we also recommend:

  • Baggage and Personal Effects Coverage
  • Hospital Room and Board
  • Trip Delay / Interruption

Do I need to warn about any illnesses or disease?

Yes. In order to customize your activities and meals, and most important, be ready if any emergency arises, we need to know about illnesses, diseases, allergies or any other condition you might suffer.

This will be notified in writing in the Photo Tour Registration form that we provide once you reserve your spot.

Do I need to take any medical supplies?

We always recommend to carry personal medical items for managing colds, sore throats, headaches, blisters, diarrhea, and those type of minor illnesses.

If you have any special condition that requires to take regular medication, you should carry an appropriate supply.

  • Documentation

Which documentation do I need to submit to take part in the Photo Tour?

In order to take part in our Photography workshops, you need to provide:

  • Copy of your passport
  • Photo Tour registration form (Provided from our side once you book your spot)
  • Waiver signed (Provided from our side once you book your spot)
  • Copy of your Visa if necessary

What are the most important documents to check before the departure?

Besides the Visa whenever it is mandatory, the most important thing to check before the departure is your passport:

  • Please double check that it’s not expiring in less than 6 months by the time that you will be returning from the Photo Tour.
  • Make sure that your name, passport number, and birth date matches with the information in your flight ticket.

Do I need to process my own Visa for the Photo Tour?

We can’t process Visas on your behalf. However, we can walk you through the process to make it as easy as possible.

Please always make sure to check the requirements to see whether you need a Visa to visit the destination country considering your nationality.

Also, it’s always best to process your Visas at the earliest because the processing time can be long or delayed in some cases.

Photo tour flights and baggage

Are flights included in the price.

Flights are not included in the price of the Photo Tour.

Is airport transfer included?

Unless otherwise indicated, transfers from and to the airports are included in our Photography workshops.

What baggage should I take to the Photo tour?

In order to fit and travel comfortably, there is a maximum luggage capacity to be carried per participant. As a general rule, this luggage will be a Medium suitcase/bag of 24″-28″ (60-71cm) and a standard Camera bag.

Our recommend is taking one camera bag and one bag for clothes/personal items.

In addition, a small shoulder strap bag to take personal items is usually allowed on international flights.

Our suggestion is to pack smart and light: You will be carrying your bags in and out of transportations and up and down accommodations staircases.

What do you suggest for carry-on luggage?

Rules change depending on the country and even on the airport. Generally, we recommend you pack the following list of items in your carry-on:

  • Medications
  • Contact lenses solution
  • Camera gear

Tripods are considered as a likely blunt weapon in some airports, so we also suggest packing your tripod on your checked baggage just in case.

What happens if there is a delay on my flight and I arrive late?

In some destinations, like the Lofoten islands in winter, we suggest arriving at least a day earlier before the Tour starts since flights are sometimes delayed or canceled because of bad weather.

If you arrive later at the Photo workshop for any reason, we will do our best to accommodate so you can catch up with the group. However, bear in mind that if there is no option to accommodate, you will miss the Photo Tour and there will be no refund from our side.

This way, we strongly advice to prevent any possible delay communicating with us as soon as you believe that you could arrive later so we can prepare a possible solution.

Shall I arrive earlier at the Photo tour or stay longer?

You can arrive earlier or stay longer after the Tour, but the cost of this is not included in the Photo workshop.

Money and currency during the photography workshop

What is the best way to take money with me.

We always recommend having a mix of debit & credit card and cash for any Photo tour.

Before the start of the tour, please communicate to your local bank the time and destination of the tour so there is no issue once you try to pay or draw money with your card.

How much cash money do I need?

The amount of cash will depend on the destination and your personal expenses. Some places like Iceland and Lofoten widely accept payments by card whereas other remote places like Kamchatka accept only cash.

Where is the best place to exchange currency before the trip?

We always recommend to exchange currency in your local bank before the trip.

If there is no choice, a local exchange office in the destination would be the best option.

In any case, try to avoid exchanging currency in the airports since they usually charge the highest commissions.

Do I need to tip during the Photo Tour?

Tips are not included in the price of the Photo Tours and it is your personal decision to tip any of the local support partners or Photo Tour leaders.

As for restaurants, hotels and other services this also depends on the destination. In some places like Iceland tipping is not expected, and most of our other destinations don’t have a tipping social custom like in the United States.

General communication & Internet during the photo tours

Will there be internet coverage during the photo tour.

In most of the places that we visit, there will be cell phone signal and free Wifi in the accommodation.

However, there are remote locations like Kamchatka where there is no signal/internet and we can spend up to 3 days with no connection.

Am I able to use my phone overseas?

Please check with your cell phone provider before the tour the possibility of connecting overseas and if you need to pay for any extra services like roaming.
