WATCH: Adam Scott brings out beige jumper again, swaps putters with DJ

Adam scott decided to have a bit of a joke during his practise round at austin country club with dustin johnson..

Adam Scott is playing the WGC Match Play for the first time since 2016 in a "tune up" for The Masters.

More: The biggest indication yet Tiger Woods will play The Masters?

Scott is grouped with major winners Keegan Bradley, Jordan Spieth and Justin Rose at Austin Country Club.

The decision for him to play here represents a big change in his preparation in the run up to Augusta National.

"Even if they weren't -- there aren't easy groups here, and I expect every match to be very difficult.

"And playing well, it's going to come down to the right shot at the right time for someone."

Quite a few high-profile players have decided to skip this event in favour of getting ready for the first major of the year.

Rory McIlroy has decided not to play. Newly crowned Players winner Cameron Smith is also sitting it out, as is Valspar Championship winner Sam Burns.

Scott continued: "Well, I think it's just something different for us. It's not a regular event, and you get the opportunity to kind of get a result every day. So that's fun.

"Even if you don't win the tournament, you might win three or four or five matches this week, and winning seems fun, so I think that's what's cool or different about it.

"It doesn't really matter if you mess one hole up. You can kind of test where your game is at by being quite aggressive out there."

Scott was also filmed having a bit of a laugh with Dustin Johnson during their practise round ahead of the first round of matches.

They swapped putters and both drained putts at the same time. It's interesting to note that Scott is  still  wearing that beige jumper.

Scott, 48, decided to wear the jumper during all four days' play at Tiger Woods' Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club in February.

When asked about it, Scott said: "Don't know what all the fuss is about. I might just wear it every day now."

Fair enough.

As the second event of the LIV Golf Series is set to begin Thursday in Oregon, many are speculating about who might be the next PGA Tour player to jump to the Saudi-backed league.

One website, Bookies.com, has already put odds on the next player who will make the leap — and ultimately grab as much cash as possible. According to a release from the site, it “examined public comments from the remaining 21 players in order to look at the odds that any one of them will jump ship and commit to LIV in the near future.”

Is it pure speculation? Most definitely. Rory McIlroy, as you might expect after his comments about those who have left the PGA Tour, is a long shot. However, the site has a number of prominent players listed as favorites to be the next to sell out.

Here are the odds listed by the website:

Tiger Woods teases new clothing brand reveal date on social media ahead of likely PGA Tour return

Tiger Woods will host the Genesis Invitational from February 15-18, a Signature Event on the PGA Tour, where the 15-time major champion is expected to make his first appearance of 2024; Woods will be making his first start since splitting with Nike at the end of last year

Tiger Woods is closing in on announcing his new clothing brand after hinting at a reveal date for the launch in a cryptic social media post ahead of the Genesis Invitational.

Woods has been wearing Nike since turning professional aged 20 and wore the brand for all 15 of his major victories, only for their partnership - spanning over 27 years - to end last year.

The 15-time major champion released a statement last month confirming the end of the partnership, where he said: "People will ask if there is another chapter. Yes, there will certainly be another chapter. See you in LA!"

Woods' 'Tiger Red' look become synonymous with final rounds, with reports suggesting the colour may be linked with his future clothing. TaylorMade, who Woods has used since 2016 for golf clubs, have reportedly filed a trademark under the name 'Sunday Red.'

The Genesis Invitational is one of the PGA Tour's Signature Events, with limited-field events and offering increased purses, with Woods expected to take one of the four sponsor exemptions available to complete the line-up.

Adam Scott, Justin Thomas and Will Zalatoris have already been confirmed as sponsor exemptions, with Woods now likely to be named as the final player when the field is officially released on Friday evening.

Woods at Riviera 1992

Woods used last year's event to mark his first PGA Tour appearance outside of a major since the Zozo Championship in October 2020, having struggled with injuries in recent years and played a limited schedule since February 2021's car crash.

The event is where Woods made his PGA Tour debut as a 16-year-old amateur in 1992.

What should we expect from Woods in 2024?

Woods finished 18th at the Hero World Challenge in December, his first start since undergoing ankle surgery after withdrawing from The Masters in April, then partnered his son Charlie to a tied-fifth finish at the PNC Championship later that month.

Tiger Woods

The 48-year-old has said he was targeting 'a tournament a month' over the forthcoming season, with an appearance at Riviera and an event on the Florida Swing - potential The Players - realistic starts ahead of the major season getting under way with The Masters from April 11-14.

Woods would likely feature in the PGA Championship from May 16-19 at Valhalla, where he lifted the Wanamaker Trophy in 2000 as part of the 'Tiger Slam', although currently does not hold automatic qualification into the US Open the following month.

The USGA would likely offer Woods an exemption should he fail to earn a spot himself over the coming months, with the former world No 1 then likely to compete at The 152th Open this July.

‘You wonder why guys are wanting to jump ship’: Pro rips PGA Tour after rules issue

Charley Hoffman at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba last November.

Getty Images

Charley Hoffman misinterpreted a rule. His frustration at the PGA Tour, on the other hand, was clear.

In an Instagram post on Friday night, Hoffman ripped the Tour, its rules officials and the USGA, and referenced proposed rival tours, after he was forced to take two penalty strokes after a drive into the water on the 13th hole at TPC Scottsdale. A double bogey dropped the longtime pro down the leaderboard during the second round of the WM Phoenix Open , though he did make the cut.

“What a joke @usga@pgatour today on the 13th hole I hit my drive in the water and took a drop on a side of a hill that no grass,” Hoffman wrote. “Dropped twice then place on a small tuff of grass. Turned around the ball started rolling into the water. I was under the impression that the @usgahad changed that rule. I was wrong. Had to take another penalty for doing nothing wrong at all. Did everything by the book. It’s still mind blowing that a group of amateurs rule the professional game of golf. I also blame the @pgatour rules officials for putting out a terrible penalty area line where this could even happen. No accountability at any level here. No protection for the players at all. You wonder why guys are wanting to jump ship and go play on another tour. Players need transparency, protection and consistency. We don’t have that under the current governing bodies.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by charley hoffman (@charleyhoffman)

“@golfchannel @golfdigest@dpworldtour @saudiintlgolf@barstoolsports @riggsbarstool@espn @foxsports @cbssports@nbcsports

“Sorry Jay! We need to do better at all levels of the @pgatour. Including myself who represent the players on the board of the Tour. If we don’t we won’t have a Tour any longer!

“Hopefully there will be a change soon.”

At issue was the drop. Once Hoffman had placed the ball, it was in play, and notably, a similar situation happened to Rickie Fowler during the final round of the 2019 Phoenix Open. Then, while leading by five, he hit a shot into the water on the 11th hole, he also placed it and then walked up to the green, only to see the ball roll back into the water. Fowler was also assessed a penalty stroke and triple-bogeyed the hole, but ended up with a two-shot victory. On Friday, a message to a Tour rules official by GOLF.com was not immediately returned.

Phil Mickelson watches a drive during a practice round of the PIF Saudi International at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club on Wednesday in Saudi Arabia.

Phil Mickelson rips PGA Tour, says its ‘greed beyond obnoxious’

Hoffman’s “jump ship” comment was no doubt a reference to various proposed rival leagues, among them one that is backed by the Saudi Arabia-based LIV Golf Investments group and headed by Greg Norman. During last week’s Saudi International, also backed LIV Golf, reports began to circulate of multi-million dollar offers for Tour players to join, and they appear to have reached the ears of Hoffman, who is also one of four player directors on the PGA Tour’s Player Advisory Council, and the “Jay” in Hoffman’s post, who is likely Tour commissioner Jay Monahan.

Among the commenters on Hoffman’s post were Phil Mickelson , who wrote: “I feel ya.” Last week, in an interview with Golf Digest ahead of the Saudi International, Mickelson ripped the PGA Tour’s media rights policy and said the Tour’s “greed” is “beyond obnoxious.”

“I don’t know where things are headed, but I know I will be criticized,” he said. “That’s not my concern. All that would do is dumb down one of the most intricate issues in sports. It would be so naive to not factor in all of the complexities. The media rights are but a small fraction of everything else. And it is the Tour’s obnoxious greed that has really opened the door for opportunities elsewhere.”

Professionally she is excelling, and her personal life is on point too. She creates a perfect work-life balance and manages the family. Erin takes her job as a wife and mother seriously. Dusting an interview with CNN in 2017 she spilled the beans about her career plans before marriage. She revealed that she had planned to go to law school and pursue law as her career. But she sidelined her plans after getting married to Walker. Instead, she chose to become the CEO of ‘team Walker.’ However, she utilizes her free time to learn about journalism, advertising, and marketing to help with her blog and social media.

How did the couple meet?

According to Sidelines Magazine, the couple married in 2005, but first met in 2004. The pro golfer was a 3rd-year pro playing on the Nationwide Tour and is now on the Korn Ferry Tour. He was trying to grab the ticket to the PGA Tour. At the event, a female volunteer caught his eye, and that was Erin. They hit it off from there. Soon they started dating and were witnessed together publicly. Their shared love for golf brought them closer, and they reached the next stage of their relationship quite soon. The couple got married in 2005 in an open-air ceremony, which was attended by close family and friends. She was always by his side, be it Walker’s golden moments of victory or the downs of his career.

How many kids do they have?

The couple was happily married for five years and decided to expand their lovely family. Walker and Erin welcomed their first child in 2010, followed by their second child in 2013. They are the proud parent of two sons, Mclain Walker and Beckett Walker. However, not much information is available about their kids. The Walker couple has always tried to keep their kids away from the public and limelight. But that does not mean they never go out. The Walker family has been spotted outdoors many times, especially for attending sporting events. They go to the golf clubs to support their father playing at the golf events.

Does Erin have any siblings?

The wife of the PGA Tour pro gave him two adorable kids, but she also came with his brother-in-law. According to the reports, Erin has a younger brother by the name of Sean Stiegemeier. She and her brother spent a lot of time skiing and competing since her parents loved to ski. However, just like his sister, Sean is also creative but works in movies, unlike her. Not as an actor but he adds magic to the visualization. He polished his skills at the American Film Institute. And is reportedly working as a cinematographer at ICG ( International Cinematographer Guild).

Joe Durant took advantage of Stewart Cink’s back-nine meltdown to win the Cologuard Classic on Sunday for his fifth PGA Tour Champions victory, closing with a 4-under 67 to beat three players by two strokes.

The 59-year-old Durant rebounded from a bogey on the par-4 10th with an eagle on the par-5 11th and parred the final seven holes. He finished at 13-under 200 at La Paloma Country Club.

The 50-year-old Cink, two strokes ahead entering the day after rounds of 62 and 69 in his sixth senior start, played a four-hole stretch in 5 over, making a triple bogey on par-4 13th and bogeys on the par-4 15th and par-5 16th. He had a 73 to tie for seventh at 9 under.

Steven Alker (65), Jerry Kelly (67) and 2020 winner Kevin Sutherland (68) tied for second. Past champion Steve Stricker had a 75 to drop into a tie for 32nd at 4 under.

Durant earned $330,000. He won four times on the PGA Tour.

Steph Curry Is A Playable Character In PGA Tour 2K23

Basketball star Steph Curry is a playable golfer in this year's PGA Tour entry.

By Steven T. Wright on October 3, 2022 at 9:20AM PDT

Steph Curry is well-known around the world for his golfing prowess, and that's finally translated into the world of gaming. Oh, and he's pretty good at basketball too. Today, 2K announced that the Golden State Warriors star will be a playable character in PGA Tour 2K23 , joining fellow celebrity guest Michael Jordan.

His swing's as clean as his jumper! 👨‍🍳 Play as @StephenCurry30 in #PGATOUR2K23 ! Pre-order today! https://t.co/tWymSPFDeg pic.twitter.com/V3mE7DN9s8 — #PGATOUR2K23 (@PGATOUR2K) October 3, 2022

Jokes aside, Curry is actually quite a skilled golfer in real-life, famously hitting a 97-yard long-shot at a celebrity golf tournament earlier this summer. Then again, the famed basketball player finally notched his long-awaited NBA Finals MVP last season, so maybe he can fall back on golf once he's done with the Warriors.

BANG! Steph Curry nailed this shot from 97 yards out ⛳️ (via @GolfChannel ) pic.twitter.com/4d1t3iTkkw — Sports Illustrated (@SInow) July 8, 2022

Curry joins a lineup of professional golfers that includes Justin Thomas, Lexi Thompson, and--of course--Tiger Woods. There is a "Tiger Woods" edition of the game, after all, though his name isn't in the title anymore. There are also some cool pre-order bonuses worth checking out.

PGA Tour 2K23 releases on October 14, so you better sharpen up that swing if you hope to compete. This is the first entry in the series since 2020's PGA Tour 2K21 , which our critic Steven Petite scored a 8/10, calling it "the most realistic and pure golf experience in a game to date." Let's hope this new game lives up to that standard.
