The Amalgam is the raider's choice of ships. But it's also rather a good miner in it's own right, with a strong mining laser from even tier one, and more importantly at higher tiers the ability to reach deep space. This makes it invaluable in your early deep space days of having another miner that can get there.

What makes the Amalgam such a good raider? If you attack a base, it will take a percentage of that base's cargo. As the ship levels up, that percentage gets higher. AND that percentage is on top of the normal cargo capacity of the ship, which means that you can carry way more than your normal full cargo.

Enter how many resources your target base has and what level(not tier, but level) your amalgam is versus your max cargo on your biggest miner. This will determine when you should use the Amalgam or your miner.

The Amalgam can of course be bought in the real money store with 100 Euros for a full unlock or 50 Euros for a half, but there is a free to play sourcing option available. When a battle pass is going on, during the Galactic Cleanup event, you are able to buy 8 of the blueprints. That means for a full hundred blueprints you'd be required to do this event 13 times.

Its blueprints are also sometimes found in the Event Store at the end of story arcs.

To refine with the Amalgam, you need plundered cargo. This is farmed off Romulan and Klingon Supply Ships. These can be found in the systems with High Council Skirmishers and Star Empire Skirmishers. These ships count as Klingon and Romulan ships for missions and dailies, but have no reputation change either positive or negative when you kill them. For a list of systems, check here: Non-Reputation Systems

To farm the cargo, you should get the exocomp from the amalgam refinery, called "Plunder!".

With this exocomp, when you kill the Supply Ships, you get 9900% of the normal loot, but only on the amalgam. This means you can fill your cargo in just a couple kills, as each kill is about 1,000,000 plunder.

All the Amalgam refineries are on 72 hour cooldowns, so you can refine once every three days.

You can get plunder tokens from the refinery as well, to get you a huge amount of more cargo from these ships for an hour. This means you don't have to farm them very often at all.

plundered cargo star trek fleet command

If anyone has the rest of Amalgam Refinery by tier/level I would love it if you sent it to me so I can add it to the site. :)

You use your Amalgam refinery tokens in the recruit tab to get Honorguard Worf Shards, Exocomps, and Skin Shard trackers.

You can trade in the Ship Skin Shard Trackers you get from the Token Refinery for ship skins. These will improve your ships in different ways. They do not need to be activated, once you have acquired them their bonuses are applied to any ship they work on whether they have the skin applied or not.

Plunder is what happens at the end of a combat in which the attacker wins. The attacker receives up to half of each of the defender's planet's three resources, or however much he has cargo space for, whichever is less.

Calculation

  • Take each of the defending planet's resources and divide by 2. This is the plunderable amount. The rest remains on the planet and we'll ignore it for the rest of the steps.
  • If the available cargo space is higher than the amount of plunderable resources on the planet, simply load them all and finish. If not, move on to step 3.
  • Attempt to load all 3 resources equally. Of the plunderable amount, find the resource with the smallest amount. If that amount is greater than or equal to 1/3 of total cargo capacity, then fill the cargo equally with each resource and finish. If not, move on to step 4.
  • If the smallest resource is less than 1/3 of total cargo capacity, then load that amount of each resource into cargo. Move on to step 5.
  • Attempt to fill cargo space equally with the 2 remaining resources. If the smaller resource would take up less than half of the remaining cargo space then fill the cargo space with all of that resource. Then fill any remaining space with the third resource (the one there was the most of.)

Modifications

During a declared War , the percent of resources on the planet available for plunder increases (from 50% to 60%).

The Resource Den building reserves a quantity of resources that cannot be plundered—or even seen on an espionage report.

Carnac's Guide to Star Trek Fleet Command

Amalgam – The Base Raider

Carnac | January 11, 2022 January 10, 2022 | Independent Ship , Ships

The newest ship in Star Trek Fleet Command is the Amalgam. As the name indicates, it’s a mix of other ships. There’s a wing of a Klingon Bird-of-Prey , parts of a Botany Bay , a bit of a Romulan Centurion , and a Federation warp nacelle, and other random flotsam and jetsam. It’s primarily a base raider, and one that will comes with its own hostile grinding mechanic with some great rewards.

To me, it looks like a cross between Babyface from Toy Story…

plundered cargo star trek fleet command

And the medical ship from The Empire Strikes Back , which according to Google, is a “ Nebulon-B Frigate .” I know it’s hard to tell between the Nebulon-A and the Nebulon-B. Very few can.

plundered cargo star trek fleet command

Amalgam Ship Ability

amalgam build

After winning a battle, if the target has more resources than the Amalgam’s available Cargo Space, the Amalgam fills its Cargo Space and then takes an additional  0.01%  of the remaining resources. This ability only activates if the Amalgam’s has available empty Cargo Space before attacking.

So this ship can carry more than its total cargo space and relies on the amount of unprotected resources that the target station has. This bonus starts at .01% out of the box, and maxes out at .1% on a maxed Amalgam.

This bonus is added to your ship’s cargo. This won’t make all that big a difference if you’re raiding a base with a few million in resources, but let’s try a quick case study.

Let’s say you’re raiding a base that’s got 35 billion in parsteel. The bonus with a baby Amalgam is going to be 3.5 million parsteel. On a maxed Amalgam, this becomes 35 million parsteel.

And the bonus comes on top of its base cargo, and whatever bonuses and crew you put aboard.

For comparison, here are the base cargo levels for a few survey ships. The Amalgam, which you can get at level 31, is comparable to a G4 Hydra, and better than the G3 faction miners. And while it pales in comparison to the G5 Nova, it can still use its bonus to blow that out of the water.

Cost to Upgrade

The Amalgam will take G3 survey parts, crystal and ore at the lower levels, and transition to G4 at tier 6.

It also takes Amalgam Parts. See how to get those below.

The Amalgam PvE Loop

It’s a bit like the Discovery loop, where you get Discovery Refinery Tokens by completing the Anomalous Phenomenon event that you can use to open chests that give you speed-ups Discovery crew recruit tokens, etc., or the Stella loop where you get rewards for collecting Eclipse Security Codes, there’s an Amalgam PvE loop.

It’s PvE function for a decidedly PvP ship.

Destroying the new Klingon or Romulan Supply ships will garner you “Plundered Cargo.”

That Plundered Cargo can be turned in at the Amalgam Refinery, for Amalgam parts to upgrade your hip and a chance at Amalgam Refinery tokens.

plundered cargo star trek fleet command

In turn, those Amalgam Refinery Tokens will open chests that will give you Honorguard Worf shards, reputation consumables, and ship skin shard trackers.

plundered cargo star trek fleet command

Those ship skin shards will be exchangeable for refits for the USS Enterprise, D4, Augur, and ISS Jellyfish. Or you could use them to purchase Refractive Beam, Positron Phaser, or Plasma Blast projectiles. This is also how you’ll get the cloaking device for the Amalgam.

The Enterprise, Augur, and D4 refit shards will cost 90 of the ship shard trackers each. Say that ten times fast.

The Constellation refit for the ISS Jellyfish will run you 75 each.

How to Unlock the Treasury in Star Trek: Fleet Command

plundered cargo star trek fleet command

Star Trek: Fleet Command is a mobile strategy game from Digit Game Studios. In it players explore the galaxy, build star ships, complete missions, and battle other players. In March 2022 an update introduced a new game feature: The Treasury. Players must fill this Ferengi Treasury by completing daily goals and defeating hostiles. The update also included 5 new missions to introduce players to the Treasury. Follow the guide below to find to how to unlock the Treasury in Star Trek: Fleet Command.

How to Unlock and Use the Treasury in Star Trek: Fleet Command

The Ferengi Treasury is available to unlock when players are at Ops level 15 and above. After unlocking the building, players will then have access to the Treasury and have the ability to fill it by completing dailies and defeating hostiles.

The Treasury gets filled up with resources and materials, among other things, which are stored in a Lockbox. That Lockbox can then be obtained by filling the Treasury to capacity. The Treasury Lockbox can then be opened by purchasing a Desealing Rod from the Store.

Treasury-building ferengi star trek fleet command

Related: What to do With Plundered Cargo in Star Trek: Fleet Command

The Treasury is upgraded with Optical Diodes (an in-game currency). This currency can be obtained by opening Lockboxes and buying building-specific in-app purchases. Every time the building is upgraded it increases the usefulness of the buffs it provides. There are 3 buffs players can get from the Treasury:

  • Improvement to Ship’s Mining Rate (Survey Ships)
  • Improvement to Ship’s Max Cargo (All Ships)
  • Improvement to Ship’s Protected Cargo (Survey Ships)

Once the Treasury is upgraded to level 40 it will begin to provide Prime Particles in the Optical Diodes bundle. These can be used for the Prime Nodes in the Territory Capture tree.

That is all you need to know about the Treasury in Star Trek: Fleet Command! Live long and prosper!
