Krakow & Auschwitz Tour

Krakow & Auschwitz

Did their Krakow, Poland trip in December during the Christmas markets. Really a great trip and experience. Everything was very organized, had really good hotel near the square/old town (I booked the 3-star hotel, private room option with my husband), guides were very good & knowledgeable and the excursions/tours were very good. We also received a lot of extra information and recommendations for things to do and places to go (food and drink too) in our free time which was really nice and helpful. I was a bit nervous reading a few of the reviews here on Yelp but our experience was fantastic and nothing like what some others wrote in their reviews. Krakow was an amazing city and one of the most beautiful in Europe. Definitely recommend this trip and company.

Krakow, Auschwitz, Enamel Factory & Wieliczka Salt Mine - 4 Days

I had a great first time experience of Krakow through this tour. My tour guide Seweryn was very friendly, flexible, organised and helpful and made the whole process very smooth. The trips to the mine, factory and camps were well laid out and gave me plenty of time for independent sightseeing and fun. If you want to come to Krakow I would highly recommend you do a trip this way!

Kuba was extremely knowledgeable and contributed considerably to our understanding and enjoyment of the spots we saw. He was sensitive to my mother's special needs and programmed stops in the tour so she could rest. He also showed up on our final day with special Polish donuts for us to enjoy -- a thoughtful and very sweet gesture. We recommend Kuba highly!

Best of Poland (11 Days)

Everything was outstanding. Coach, Kate (tour guide), all other guides (except one), hotels, meals, itineraries, driver, sights, tours. Two issues. Our Auschwitz tour guide had a very, very pronounced accent and spoke very quickly making it difficult to understand him. Extremely knowledgeable but needs to slow down his speech. Loved that every tour guide throughout the country was a "local". The other issue was that the optional tours available were charged in Euros and not Polish money. Other than those "minor issues" the tour was truly outstanding, interesting, educational and fun!

Best of the East Tour

Best of the East

Such a fun and alternative trip to take! We went to Prague, Poland, Budapest, and Austria. Even though it was one of the coldest weeks, our tour guide made it beyond enjoyable. She had so many suggestions of places to go and all were great. My favorite stop was Krakow, Poland, what a beautiful city and so much fun. I had an absolute blast while on this trips, the tour guide were energetic, fun, and knowledgeable, the trip was well run and flexible which I enjoyed, the company had optional activities set up for us which was nice to not feel pressured to do them if you wanted to explore on your own. The accommodations were always comfy and clean and the buses we took for all the trips were enjoyable and filled with fun movies to watch. I would highly recommend traveling with Euroadventures, their attention to detail, responsible yet fun guides, and flexible, activities filled schedule are all beyond worth it.

What people love about auschwitz tours.

Seweryn was a fantastic tour guide and very knowledgeable about Krakow's history. I enjoyed learning about the many historical and religious details we saw around Krakow. He also went above and beyond to help me when I had trouble purchasing train tickets, and when I got sick offered to reschedule one of the tour days. I really enjoyed his tour and would highly recommend it.

Historic Krakow

Poland’s renowned second city boasts a fascinating and turbulent past with historic treasures around every other corner. The Old Town is certainly one of the most beautiful in the world, with its cobbled streets and majestic buildings which house cosy cafes, restaurants and shops. In the main market square you can take your place on one the terraces and watch the world go by whilst enjoying a bite to eat. History buffs will be sure to want to explore Kazimierz, the city's Jewish quarter which was destroyed during World War II. Throughout the neighbourhood you will discover traces of its heartbreaking history and it is also possible to visit Oskar Schindler’s factory which now features an exhibition dedicated to Krakow during the Nazi occupation. What also makes Kazimierz such a special neighbourhood is that is has now become a bohemian hotspot, bursting with bars and cafes which are the perfect place to while away an evening.

Auschwitz excursion.

During this included excursion on Day 2, you visit one of WW2's most notorious concentration camps: Auschwitz-Birkenau. More than 1 million people lost their lives in Auschwitz, and Auschwitz-Birkenau stands today as a powerful memorial to the camp's victims and to one of history's darkest chapters. Auschwitz was listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979.

During the excursion, you will visit Auschwitz I, which served as the administrative centre for the entire camp. Here you will embark on a 2-hour tour with an English speaking museum guide. The next visit is Auschwitz II - Birkenau, 2 kilometres away, and served as a concentration camp. Here you spend 1.5 hours, where you are once again shown around by an English speaking guide. You will arrive back at the hotel, around 16.30. The excursion takes place on day 2 of the trip, lasts a total of 8 hours and takes place in a group of up to 30 people.

Please note that this excursion is not recommended for children under 14 years. You will receive more information about the final pick-up time and location upon arrival at the hotel.

Facebook Says Sorry Its AI Flagged Auschwitz Museum Posts as Offensive

Too late now.

Earlier this month, Facebook's algorithm flagged 21 posts from the Auschwitz Museum as going against its community standards — and now its parent company Meta is eating crow.

In a Facebook post , the Poland-based memorial said that after Meta's content moderation algorithm moved some of its posts down in the feed over strange claims of violating community standards, the company has apologized, though not directly, for the error.

"We mistakenly sent notices to the Auschwitz Museum that several pieces of content the museum posted had been demoted," a Meta spokesperson told  The Telegraph . "In fact, that content does not violate our policies and was never actually demoted. We offer our sincere apologies for the error."

In an April 12 post , the museum announced the erroneous flags and charged the social network with "algorithmic erasure of history."

"The posts, which serve as tributes to individual victims of Auschwitz, have been unjustly targeted by this platform's content moderation system and 'moved lower in the Feed', citing absurd reasons such as 'Adult Nudity and Sexual Activity,' 'Bullying and Harassment,' 'Hate Speech,' and 'Violence Incitement,'" the post reads.

Indeed, as screenshots show, none of the posts in question had any such content, instead showing portraits of Auschwitz victims and short descriptions of their lives and identities prior to their murders at the hands of Nazis.

Common Problem

While the flags have since been rescinded, many are sounding the alarm about how this kind of AI-powered system cuts humans out of the curation of important messages.

.Shortly after the museum revealed the flags, Polish digital affairs minister Krzysztof Gawkowski trashed the site for such an egregious mistake, calling it a "scandal and an illustration of problems with automatic content moderation" in a translation of his post on X-formerly-Twitter .

Gawkowski's demand for Meta to further explain itself was echoed by the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism, which said in a statement to  The Telegraph that the company's apology didn't go far enough.

"Meta needs to explain why its algorithm treats genuine Holocaust history with suspicion," the representative told the British newspaper, "and what it can do to ensure that these stories continue to get told and shared."

It's bad enough that Meta's content algorithm flagged such important historic information as problematic — but within the context of its other major AI moderation issues, which includes auto-translating "Palestinian" to "terrorist " and allegedly promoting pedophilic content , this is a particular affront.

During his visit, he's set to meet with content creators, app developers, and students to learn about how they use Apple products, according to local media.

Apple also plans to boost its ties with local suppliers during the trip as well as help fund clean water projects and education opportunities, local newspaper VietnamNet wrote.

Apple also announced plans to increase spending on suppliers in Vietnam.

Since 2019, the company has spent nearly 400 trillion Vietnamese dong ($16 billion) through its supply chains in Vietnam and has more than doubled its annual spending in the country over the same period, the company said in a statement on its Vietnamese website.

The statement added that Apple supports the jobs of 200,000 people in Vietnam through direct employment, via suppliers, and as app developers.

A couple of years later, Foxconn faced issues with Chinese smartphone makers trying to poach their talent in Vietnam , attracting them with higher salaries.

Apple has faced a recent blow as iPhone shipments fell nearly 10% in the first quarter of 2024, as global smartphone shipments increased.
