“visions fine and sound supreme   essence of a fiery queen   doyens of the paradigm   we will rock you one more time.”   brian may  .

Having first launched their universally acclaimed Rhapsody Tour with 25 epic shows across North America in 2019, Queen + Adam Lambert are bringing their highly acclaimed production, now expanded and updated, back to where it first began. After a 4-year long hiatus, Sir Brian May, Roger Taylor and their exceptional frontman Adam Lambert have announced they will set out on a spectacular North America run this fall. Produced by Live Nation, the tour kicks off on October 4 at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena making stops in Toronto, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Denver and more before concluding at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. See full routing below.

Brian May says, “Our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever. So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious. Watch out world.”

And Adam Lambert says: “I can’t wait to tour North America one more time with the Rhapsody tour alongside the two unbelievably talented legends that are Brian May and Roger Taylor.”

Queen + Adam Lambert’s 150-minute career-spanning set list celebrates the band’s extraordinary back catalogue, lining up wall-to-wall immortal anthems like “We Will Rock You”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Radio Ga Ga”, and “Somebody To Love” alongside classic deep cuts and vintage fan favourites. Featuring a dazzling state-of-the-art stage design, incredible special effects and set pieces, this sense-swamping extravaganza has been blowing critics and fans away the world over.

As with last year’s UK and European dates, the 2023 North American tour will see Queen + Adam Lambert supported on stage by their regular band members, long-serving Queen keyboard player and musical director Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough and percussionist Tyler Warren.

Having extensively toured over the last few years, the Rhapsody show is forever evolving. But it remains at heart a tribute to Freddie Mercury’s majestic legacy, a confirmation of Brian and Roger’s undimmed musical prowess, plus a magnificent showcase for Adam’s vocal skills and electrifying stage charisma, all of which adds up to a glorious full-blooded celebration of one of the greatest songbooks in rock history. Read more on the story of The Rhapsody Tour so far, including the special performance opening the Platinum Jubilee concert with the late Queen herself tea cup tapping to the beat of “We Will Rock You” HERE .

TICKETS: Tickets will be available via a general onsale beginning Friday, March 31st at 10AM local time at LiveNation.com .

MORE ON TICKETS:

Queen + Adam Lambert appreciate that it is an enormous task to try and stop scalpers from taking advantage of fans wanting to purchase tickets for the tour. In an effort to help minimize resale and keep ticket prices at face value for fans, the band are collaborating with the venues’ ticketing partners to restrict the ability to transfer tickets for The Rhapsody Tour so that they may only be transferred between fans at the original price.

Fans will still have protection against unforeseen circumstances. Those who purchase tickets and are no longer able to attend their show will be able to sell their tickets at the price they paid using a face value ticket exchange, including the Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange – which is free to use for buyers and sellers. More information on how the Ticketmaster Exchange works is available here .

Unfortunately, the states of NY, IL, and CO have laws in place which protect ticket scalpers – these laws prohibit artists from being able to restrict the transfer of their tickets to face value exchanges only. For shows in these states, Queen + Adam Lambert strongly encourage fans to only buy or sell tickets to one another on face value exchanges. More information can be found here , with more details to follow in the coming weeks.

Phenomenal show! Very refreshing to see a rock band without a massive screen behind them! They captured the essence of Queen's music while still holding true to themselves and being unique. 10/10 would see again!

Taylor Swift concert review in Singapore: A near-perfect celebration of the singer's legacy thus far

The Singapore leg of Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour commenced on Saturday (Mar 2) at the National Stadium and proved to be an extravaganza for fans and non-fans alike.

It finally happened. It took us days of snaking queues outside post offices  and many , many articles  about her to get here but global megastar Taylor Swift finally kicked off the Singapore leg of The Eras Tour on Saturday (Mar 2) to great fanfare.

I'll admit: I'm not the biggest Swiftie. I stopped religiously listening to her songs after the non-Taylor's Version of 1989 – an album that came out in 2014. That's an entire decade of not keeping up with Tay Tay. As such, coming into the concert, I was worried if I'd be able to appreciate the experience – especially once post-1989 songs started playing.

However, as I quickly learnt, that's the beauty of The Eras Tour. Unlike most other concerts which feature a selection of songs from various albums lined up randomly, the setlist of The Eras Tour is split into sections that mark a different Swift album across her 18-year-long career – an era, if you will.

If you aren't familiar with a particular album, motifs and visuals related to its themes will play at the start of each "era", giving you an aperitif. As Swift puts it, The Eras Tour is for old fans to "celebrate the memories" shared over the years and for new fans to "catch up with all the fun".

Before we go any further with Swift, I need to quickly talk about Sabrina Carpenter – the opening act for this leg of The Eras Tour.

queen extravaganza tour

She was simply magical. The 24-year-old singer made every moment of her set count, whether it was displaying her vulnerability with Because I Liked A Boy or working the crowd with her cover of Abba's Dancing Queen.

Her masterful performance of her viral hit Nonsense was another strong display of her musicality. In 35 minutes, Carpenter proved she was ready to command and conquer a bigger venue for her next solo concert in Singapore.

queen extravaganza tour

Thirty minutes after Carpenter's set, it was time for the show to start properly. The countdown before Swift's appearance will forever be etched in my mind; the cheers and screams from the audience at this concert were louder than any other shows I have ever attended. And again, this was before  Swift got onstage.

Swift kicked things off with songs from her Lover era, starting with Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince. Admittedly, Lover isn't my favourite album but it didn't matter as Swift was operating at 110 per cent from the get-go. Her energy was infectious and it was honestly hard to look away from her iconic bedazzled Versace bodysuit that has since become a calling card of The Eras Tour.

queen extravaganza tour

As one would expect from Swift, her vocals were on point. In fact, they were unwavering. Not once during the three-and-a-half-hour show did Swift's voice show any weakness. Couple that with the choreography and instrument playing she did and it was clear that Swift has further evolved as a bona fide entertainer since her last Singapore concert in 2015.

My favourite performance that night was undoubtedly Swift's mash-up of I Don't Wanna Live Forever and Dress. Swift punctuated every line with raw emotion while deftly playing the piano. That, for me, was peak Taylor Swift.

queen extravaganza tour

The set designs also deserved praise for elevating each era's themes. For instance, Swift's 2020 release Evermore was an album I had never listened to before this concert. However, its section in The Eras Tour was one of my favourites, thanks to the immersive background videos which highlighted the album's brooding themes. Another worthy mention goes to the Midnights section of the concert because I genuinely thought Swift climbed that ladder up to the clouds.

Swift herself also seemed to genuinely be having fun during the show. She regaled attendees with a story of how her mother grew up in Singapore and later showed her childhood haunts here.  “My mum actually spent a lot of her childhood with her mum and dad and sister growing up in Singapore,” said Swift of her mother Andrea Swift.

She even acknowledged the overseas fans who flew in for the concert, asking them to "make some noise".

The full setlist of Swift's first The Eras Tour show in Singapore is as follows:

Lover Era 1. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince 2. Cruel Summer 3. The Man 4. You Need To Calm Down 5. Lover 6. The Archer Fearless Era 7. Fearless 8. You Belong With Me 9. Love Story

Evermore Era 10. 'Tis The Damn Season 11. Willow 12. Marjorie 13. Champagne Problems 14. Tolerate It

Concert or fashion show? What Swifties are wearing to The Eras Tour

All in all, Swift delivered everything she set out to do with this show. Fans around me were on their feet most of the time, singing along to every song and having a great time. And then, we have yours truly who left the concert with an appreciation of Swift's newer works, specifically songs from Evermore and Midnights.

Was it a perfect concert? Almost. The National Stadium's acoustics and sound system continue to be the bane of performances there, this time causing an echoey effect at certain parts of the show.

Nonetheless, the first Singapore show of The Eras Tour lived up to the gargantuan hype surrounding it. If the remaining five shows continue having this level of quality, suffice it to say, The Eras Tour will go down as one of the best concerts of 2024 in Singapore.

Bob the Drag Queen Is Ready to Celebrate Madonna in L.A.

P repping audiences for the majesty of a Madonna show would be daunting to almost any performer anywhere, but Bob the Drag Queen has proven to be a formidably flamboyant, fantastical even, mistress of ceremonies.

“The first person you see on stage is going to be Bob the Drag Queen dressed in a big old beautiful blush Marie Antoinette-style recreation of the outfit that she wore for her 'Vogue' performance on the MTV Music Awards,” Bob, who’s from Atlanta but calls L.A. home, tells Los Angeles magazine by Zoom chat. “I open the show and I just help move the story along, but to be clear, Madonna is doing the work. She is the queen and she is on stage pretty much the whole time.”

Best known for winning the 8th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race , Bob hosted Madonna's Pride show back in 2021. The non-binary/pansexual-identifying performer (who uses both he/him and she/her pronouns) tells us the pair stayed connected since then, texting and talking as the new tour was taking shape. “And then I guess she thought that I'd be a good fit for this tour,” says the drag fave, who has seven costume changes during the two hour long spectacle.

So what are Bob’s favorite parts of the show? “I really love ‘Live to Tell’ section; it's a great tribute to the queer community and to those we've lost due to the HIV and AIDS epidemic,” the emcee says. “I really enjoy her performing with her children — she has her for youngest kids in the show and it’s really nice to see Esther and Stella and Mercy and David performing in their own respective rights. I love the finale number which is based on Madonna’s [style], where you get to just see all these looks throughout Madonna's career, everything from you know, the Girlie Show to “'Nothing Really Matters' to Met Gala looks… all these iterations of Madonna. And then the most current iteration which is her in all her own regalia. It's really, really cool to see.”

One of the most exciting moments from what’s been shared out there, at least within the drag and LGBTQ+ community, is the vogue ball segment in which different celebrities and drag queens rate dancers as they serve runway walks.

“It’s not just drag queens,” Bob says. “We've had everyone from FKA Twigs to Kelly Ripa. We've had Detox, we've had Severe Cristalle from the current season of drag race but we've also had Diplo, Mary Mack the DJ. people from plenty of walks of life up there. Madonna and the guest vote and [judge] the ball. She brings up them up just for that moment. There's no rehearsal or anything. I never know who it’s going to be, but I certainly have people who I hope it'll be."

RuPaul and Nicole Byer top Bob’s picks if it were up to him, but in a city like Los Angeles where so many entertainment industry figures reside, it really could be anybody. Celebrities at Madonna shows — where ever they may be — are always plentiful.

“We've had multiple times where multiple famous people were in the audience,” says Bob. “Like we had Atlantis Morissette and Sam Smith. We had Rosie O'Donnell in the audience, and Chris Rock. Everyone comes to see the Queen do her thing, you know?”

The “Vogue” segment, like the “Live to Tell” moment (which was recently in the news after R&B singer Luther Vandross was included and then removed) are just two examples of the pop icon’s enduring support of the queer community; she’s been a staunch ally her entire career, of course. In terms of the drag community specifically, she has always used queens in various productions and projects.

“I want to say, Madonna respects me as an artist... A lot of people see drag queens as, I don't want to say clown, because it’s actually a disservice to what clowns actually do and the artistry of clowning, which I actually love. Clowns are incredibly creative people,” Bob explains. “But it’s more like we’re theme park characters, as opposed to real people with real ideas with artistic merit. And Madonna has seen all of that in me. I am an artist, and I am a drag queen, and I'm a stand up comedian. Sometimes I express myself through drag, sometimes I express myself out of drag. I have a point of view and a perspective for what I'm trying to say, and Madonna really sees that, and I appreciate it.”

Speaking of forms of expression, Bob might be busy on the Celebration Tour right now, but the drag artist, who also starred on the first three seasons of the Emmy-winning Max series We're Here , has other curling irons in the fire too, from original music to cosmetics to a brand new clothing line.

House of Bob offers non-binary fashion for all. That means “anyone can wear it — you can be a man, you can be a woman, you can be cisgender, you can be non binary, you can be transgender, you can be large, and you can be small, and these clothes are for you,” Bob says, of the non-gendered clothing line featuring limited items handmade in the U.S. he emphasizes, adding that the person making it is paid well to create each piece individually by hand. Price points range from $100 to $300.

After the Celebration Tour closes in July, Bob is excited about kicking off his own world tour in Australia with five shows booked so far. He hopes to add more dates for America, Europe and maybe Canada, Asia, Africa and South America, too. Expect comedy, music, and more, with a similar feel to his stand up show “Woke Man in a Dress,” (now available on his YouTube page for free), only with more music, which he hopes will be a “camp extravaganza.”

Bob refers to his sound as “fag rap” or GGT (“Girl-Gay-They”) music as heard in the clubs, and though he's known for diss tracks and sassy bangers, there's substance too.

“I'm really proud of the like, the lyricism and the cleverness of my wordplay and the beat,” Bob enthuses. “I put a lot of thought into this stuff. I have an EP called “Gay Bars” and in a remix album called “Gayer Bars,” with a brand new track on it available on iTunes and Spotify.

In some ways, Madonna invented GGT music, and Bob says that being in the pop icon’s orbit has really inspired him when it comes to professionalism and dedication, musing, “You don't just accidentally become Madonna, ya know? I mean, she’s worked so hard.”

At this point in the interview, Los Angeles couldn’t resist asking about the issue of the show’s tardiness, which has even led to some fans suing Madonna for the long wait.

“I will say this, Madonna has been doing this for 40 years now and if you come you know what's up… If you went to the [last few tours], and she was late those times and you expect different and you're mad this time, it's on you. It's on you at this point,” Bob insists adding that the backlash has gone beyond a set times issue, revealing a lot of sexism and ageism toward the pop star, who nearly died last Summer and had to reschedule tour dates, including the show finally coming to L.A. this week. “What I have seen from being in her orbit is like, the way people treat women after the age of 40 is crazy, and women after the age of 60 is absurd. It’s like they really want you to just die and walk away or just fade into obscurity after a certain age. The fact that she's still performing is really remarkable, and she's doing a great job."

“Madonna has influenced everyone,” Bob proclaims as our conversation concludes. “Even Beyonce says she wanted to follow in the footsteps of Madonna. She really is a true trailblazer in the world of music… the impact she has had and how long she's been doing this… She moved to New York City worked at the Russian Tea Room, got fired from Dunkin Donuts, was handing out cassettes to people. She was really like a club kid who just kind of became the world's biggest pop star.”

Madonna's Celebration Tour is at the Kia Forum March 4, 5, 7, 9, and 11.
