About Travel Man

Screenshot 2021-05-24 at 14.40.05.png

Since 2015 Travel Man has been delivering the definitive guide to making the most of 48 hours (and sometimes a little longer) in some of the most exciting destinations in the world.   In the process it has become the most popular holiday show on UK television.

For the first 9 series the show was hosted by comedic polymath (Actor, Presenter Writer, Director) Richard Ayoade. Since 2020 the show’s host has been the comedic polymath (Comedian,  Presenter, Writer, Director) Joe Lycett . Joining them on their travels have been some of the finest and most available comic talents from Britain and the US, among them Bill Bailey, Sarah Millican, Lena Dunham, Jon Hamm and Paul Rudd.

The show’s aim remains the same; a mini-break with the boring bits taken out.  A guide that combines famous attractions, the quirky and the cultural, mixing the must-see and the offbeat, and making sure there is always lots to do, whether it’s a cookery class, an interactive tour, or even an art lesson.

Travel Man’s peak audience for an episode is 2.8 million and its YouTube channel attracts 2 million views a month.  The show has been nominated for 2 BAFTA awards and won 5 Royal Television Society Awards, the most recent of these being a Best Presenter gong for Joe Lycett.  Travel Man has been shown in 62 countries.  It has received glowing reviews from as far afield as the New York Times and the Australian Guardian, and was described as ‘hilarious and surprisingly informative’ by The Times.

The show is produced in Birmingham by North One Television .

48 Hours in Milan: The Ultimate Itinerary

travel man in milan

TripSavvy / Christopher Larson

If your travels to Italy take you to Milan, you'll find a busy, largish city with a tight cluster of touristic sites in the centro storico , or historic center. Depending on your interests, there are dozens of potential itineraries for a few days in Milan—you could easily pass your time in its many art museums, dedicate yourself to a shopping marathon or take in as many performing arts events as possible. Assuming you want a little taste of a lot of what Milan has to offer, we've developed this itinerary for what to see, where to eat, sleep and shop, and how to have an unforgettable 48 hours in Milan.

Day 1: Morning

TripSavvy / Deanna Mazzola

10 a.m.: You'll likely arrive in Milan via plane or train. Most international flights land at Malpensa airport , which has easy connections to the main train station, Milano Centrale. For convenience and budget options, choosing from one of the dozens of hotels by the train station means you can drop your bags and start sightseeing right away. Starhotels E.c.ho. is a moderately priced, eco-friendly and chic option, while budget-friendly Ostello Bello Grande hostel offers dorms and private rooms, plus a friendly vibe. If you want to be closer to Milan's touristic heart, head towards the Duomo and check into Rosa Grand , a highly-rated 4-star with modern interiors, or TownHouse Duomo , in an opulent building facing the famous Piazza del Duomo.

11 a.m.: Once you've dropped your bags and freshened up, head towards the Duomo, but not before stopping off for a mid-morning espresso or cappuccino. Giacomo Caffe is a cozy and welcoming spot with a shabby-chic, literary flair, where you'll find both breakfast pastries and lunchtime salads, sandwiches, and light fare. Afterward, brace yourself for one of the most magnificent sights in Europe—or the world, for that matter—the Piazza del Duomo, the cultural and geographical heart of Milan. Flanked by the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping arcade and the Palazzo Reale (Royal Palace), now the seat of the city government, the centerpiece of the piazza is, of course, the Duomo itself—the massive Gothic cathedral famous for its many spires and elaborate ornamentation. To ensure you make the most of your time, buy your timed-entrance tickets to the Duomo in advance. Different ticket schemes allow you to visit the crypt, archaeological area and the ornate rooftop, where you can see those spires up close.

Day 1: Afternoon

1 p.m.: This is your day dedicated to seeing the sights right in the center of the city, so don't stray too far from the Duomo for lunch. While it's not the cheapest place in town to eat, the elegant arcades of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II house several cafes and restaurants where you can watch the parade of tourists, shoppers, and Milanese businesspeople go by in this historic arcaded complex. After lunch, head over to Venchi , at the adjacent Park Hyatt hotel, and sample some of Italy's most celebrated chocolate or gelato (or both!). After lunch, walk over to the Castello Sforzesco , the city's fortified, 15th-century castle, now a museum complex and major landmark. Tickets to the castle include access to all its museums, but you probably won't have time to see them all—choose a few that interest you the most. Afterward, if the weather is nice, wander the Parco Sempione, the vast public park behind the castle.

4 p.m.: You've got time for one more museum, and Milan offers an embarrassment of choices. If you are interested in science and technology—or you have kids in tow—head to the National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci , which uses the Renaissance master's drawings and inventions to explain the evolution of science. Note that this museum is only open until 5 p.m. on weekdays, and until 6:30 p.m. on weekends. The Pinacoteca di Brera (open until 7:15 p.m.) houses a vast and essential collection of mostly Italian masterworks. On a smaller but no less impressive scale, the Ambrosian Library (Biblioteca Pinacoteca Accademia Ambrosiana) holdings, including an ornate 17th-century library straight out of a Harry Potter film, plus a gallery with works from Da Vinci, Raphael, and Jan Brueghel, the Elder. The library closes at 5 p.m.; the gallery is open until 6 p.m.

Day 1: Evening

7 p.m.: You are faced with a cultural fork in the road. If opera, dance or classical music appeal to you, then you must take in a performance at La Scala , Milan's celebrated, historic opera house. Evening shows start at either 7:30 or 8 p.m., meaning you've got time for a quick bite before curtain call. Head out from your hotel early and find one of the fast-ish food eateries on or near Piazza del Duomo—not McDonald's or Burger King, please!—and grab something either on the go or that you can eat quickly. Il Panzerotto del Senatore offers delicious handheld, hot sandwiches similar to calzones. Closer to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Spontini pizzeria is a standing-only or take away joint selling pizza by the slice. It's not the most elegant pre-theatre meal, but it will ensure you're not late for the first aria.

If La Scala is not your scene, then you get to partake in that most Italian of evening rituals, the aperitivo —and few cities do it better than Milan, the city where the concept was born. The term means "to wake up the appetite," and the tradition consists of a before-dinner drink or two with light snacks. Some bars provide the snacks for free with your drink order; others charge a flat fee for a drink or two and an all-you-can-graze appetizer buffet. At Terrazza Aperol , you'll pay for the location, as an aperitivo here comes with a prime view of the Duomo. In the San Marco neighborhood east of the Castello, N'Ombra di Vin is a classy wine bar serving high-quality cheeses and cured meats. After you've whetted your appetite, head into the charming Brera neighborhood for dinner, where renowned Tartufotto by Savini Tartufi offers course after course of dishes featuring pungent black and white truffles, alternatively, head up to Milan's Chinatown for casual dining on or near Via Paolo Sarpi. Favorite spots include Ravioleria Sarpi and Ramen a Mano noodle house, a few blocks away.

Day 2: Morning

8:15 a.m.: After an early breakfast at your hotel, get ready for the event you've reserved ahead months in advance —your visit to Santa Maria Delle Grazie, home of Leonardo da Vinci's most famous work (okay, maybe after the Mona Lisa), The Last Supper. Seriously, you'll need to book at least four months in advance and check the website regularly for ticket availability. You'll have a whopping 15 minutes to view da Vinci's masterpiece. Assuming you've booked an early time slot, you'll have the rest of the morning free for some casual sightseeing as you make your way back to your hotel or lunch stop. If you're heading back towards the centro, Corso Magenta, where Santa Maria Delle Grazie is located, is also home to Leonardo's Vineyard , a house and garden once occupied by da Vinci. Closer to centro, the Civic Archaeological Museum has an impressive collection of Roman, Greek, and Etruscan artifacts.

12:30 p.m.: If you're feeling the rumblings of lunchtime hunger pangs, Al Cantitone offers traditional, authentic Milanese fare and has two locations in the centro storico—one near Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and another near Piazza del Duomo.

2 p.m.: We've set aside some time this afternoon for you to partake in that most Milanese of Milan pastimes—shopping. If name brands and made-in-Italy labels appeal to you, you'll be spoiled for choices in the city. Corso Buenos Aires is the main drag connecting Milano Centrale station to the centro. It's lined with mainstream retailers, but it gets more expensive the closer it gets to the city center. Corso Buenos Aires runs into the Quadrilatero Della Moda (the fashion rectangle), also called the Quadrilatero d'Oro (the gold rectangle) for its reputation as Milan's most exclusive, expensive shopping district. Even if you can't afford to take home any treasures from Gucci, Prada, and Versace, it's still fun to window-shop, and people watch here.

Day 2: Afternoon

4 p.m.: If you're more of a vintage or resale shopper, head early to the Navigli district, where you'll also be having dinner. This triangle-shaped area southwest of the city center is defined by two canals, the Naviglio Pavese and Naviglio Grande, which once carried people and merchandise in and out of the city. Today, the Navigli area is known for its bohemian vibe, and as an excellent place for thrift shopping, finding one-of-a-kind clothes, accessories, and housewares at designer boutiques, and for its weekend flea and antique markets. Try Guendj for vintage leather, and be sure to wander along the banks of both canals in search of fashionable souvenirs of your trip.

7 p.m.: Navigli is an excellent neighborhood for dining and nightlife, beginning, of course, with aperitivo. La Prosciutteria on Naviglio Grande is a great place to start. Or stray just a little way's from the canals, over to the Darsena, the harbor where the two Navigli canals meet, and head to Vista Darsena , a waterfront bar with plenty of indoor and outdoor space, a generous aperitivo spread and a good cocktail list. From there, venture back to Navigli for dinner at one of its many small, exciting eateries. For creative versions of typical northern Italian fare, try chic Nebbia , just west of the Naviglio Pavese canal. If it's tradition you seek, Trattoria Della Gloria is a casual, family-run trat with friendly prices and authentic Milanese dishes.

After dinner, stroll along the canals, maybe stopping off for some live music and an after-dinner drink. Or taxi or Metro back to the centro storico, and be sure to stop off for a nighttime view of Piazza del Duomo—breathtakingly lit after dark. From Milan, whether you choose to visit Turin (Torino), Lake Como , or head south to Genoa , there's still plenty of Italy to discover!

Travel tips for first-time Milan visitors

No need to leave extra

1.  No need to leave extra

This one might be a shock if you’re visiting Milan from a country with a big tipping culture, but here in Milan, it’s not a thing. Tips aren’t expected, as the city has a pretty good hourly wage (we know, unheard of, right?), so keep your coins for another negroni later on.

Consider avoiding August

2.  Consider avoiding August

August might seem like a good month to live out your Italian dreams, but if you’re considering it, be warned – Milan gets seriously, swelteringly hot in August. But that’s not the only reason to make a plan for another month, as a fair few shops and restaurants shut down this month while the Milanese go on their holidays. Best not risk it, we say.

Plan ahead to see Leonardo

3.  Plan ahead to see Leonardo

If getting a glimpse of Leonardo da Vinci’s  The Last Supper  is on your list, but you haven’t made reservations months in advance, all hope is not lost. Even if online reservations show no tickets are available, try calling the ticket hotline, as some are kept aside for phone callers. Another option is to book a guided Milan tour that also includes a visit to the painting, as these are sometimes more likely to have spots left.

Travel by tram

4.  Travel by tram

Though many trams have been modernised, for a unique experience, the  ATMosfera  lets you ride a 1930s tram on a sightseeing trip through the city while enjoying a multicourse dinner with wine. It is a very romantic way to catch a glimpse of Milan’s past inside while peering at the present right outside the windows.

Never order a cappuccino after lunch

5.  Never order a cappuccino after lunch

Italians are convinced that drinking anything with milk after the morning will hamper digestion. So, to blend in, order that cappuccino (or other coffee drinks with milk, see below for more on that) only before 11am, or risk looking like a foreign fool.

We take latte literally

6.  We take latte literally

If you want a coffee with milk, make sure you order a cappuccino (more foam) or caffé latte (less foam), a caffé macchiato (espresso with a little milk), or a latte macchiato (hot milk with a little coffee) instead of just a “latte” – or you’ll only get a glass of milk. If you just want an espresso, order “un caffé” to avoid strange looks.

Enjoy an aperitivo

7.  Enjoy an aperitivo

No visit to Milan is complete without partaking in the pre-dinner (or instead-of-dinner) tradition of  aperitivo. B asically, cocktails are served with all manner of free nibbles, often a buffet with enough food to constitute a meal. Though the Navigli neighbourhood is home to many bars offering  aperitivo , you’ll find it served throughout the city – so go ahead, sample a few different kinds.

Try a Negroni sbagliato

8.  Try a Negroni sbagliato

While a classic Negroni – gin, Campari and sweet vermouth – is always a good idea, when in Milan, don’t miss the chance to sample a Negroni  sbagliato , literally a Negroni “mistake.” It was born at Bar Basso in the ‘70s when a bartender added sparkling wine to a Negroni instead of gin, and you can still try it there (amongst other places).

Head away from the Duomo at night

9.  Head away from the Duomo at night

Though several of the major sights you’ll want to see will be around the Duomo area, for a cooler nightlife experience, venture out to some of the more local haunts in such neighbourhoods as Isola, Porta Venezia or Navigli. You’ll get away from the tourists, save money and likely have more fun.

…and even during the day

10.  …and even during the day

After exploring the Duomo, the Galleria and La Scala, take a bus or tram out to some of the farther reaches of Milan for truly unique museums that never feel as crowded as the centre city attractions. Fondazione Prada, Pirelli HangarBicocca and MUDEC are all housed in interesting buildings and feature permanent and rotating exhibitions worth your time.

Watch out for Salone

11.  Watch out for Salone

Though arriving during the Milan Furniture Fair, called Salone del Mobile – which runs for six days in mid-April – can be super fun as there are loads of parties and events happening, the city becomes super crowded and expensive. Hotels jack up their prices to stratospheric levels and get booked up months in advance. Ditto during Milan Fashion Week. Unless you’re a diehard furniture design fan, it may be a better idea to visit at a time when the city’s a bit more relaxed.

Visit museums for free

12.  Visit museums for free

On the first Sunday of each month, all of Milan’s civic museums – including Museo del Novecento, Sforza Castle museums, Galleria d’Arte Moderna, Casa Museo Boschi di Stefano and MUDEC, among others – offer free admission. Though they tend to be more crowded then, it’s still a good chance to squeeze in some more culture without spending a cent.

Head up high

13.  Head up high

Milan boasts loads of vantage points where you can enjoy prime views of the city skyline. The rooftop of the Duomo, Torre Branca inside Parco Sempione and the terrace on the seventh floor of the Rinascente department store are fabulous places to get an eyeful. Prefer a drink with your vistas? Try the Radio Rooftop Bar or Ceresio 7 Pools & Restaurant.

Wear your snazziest shoes

14.  Wear your snazziest shoes

The Milanese take their footwear very seriously. Women may want to bring a pair or two of high heels to wear out at night – or even during the day if they dare. (You’ll see plenty of locals traipsing effortlessly along the cobblestones wearing stilettos.) Men can often get away with cool sneakers. If you catch the locals checking out your shoes, you’ve probably done well.

Go to La Scala on the cheap

15.  Go to La Scala on the cheap

Even if you’re not an opera-lover, catching a performance at Teatro alla Scala is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The problem is, not only are tickets super-pricey, but they sell out months and months in advance. However, if you visit the box office an hour before a show starts, any leftover or returned tickets are sold at a 25% discount – perhaps not cheap, but definitely worth the splurge.

Embrace discount fashion

16.  Embrace discount fashion

Yes, many of the clothes, shoes and accessories on sale in Milan are through-the-roof expensive – after all, this is the home of Prada and Versace. But if you just can’t bear to visit this fashion town without a purchase, head over to DMAG outlet. You’ll find three locations showcasing discounted Italian and international luxury brands, so perhaps you can head home with those Miu Miu boots you’ve been eyeing after all.

Shop outside the fashion district

17.  Shop outside the fashion district

You’ll want to window shop and stroll in Milan’s premier fashion area, Quadrilatero della Moda. But for fun and unique purchases, head north of the Duomo to the pretty Brera district. You’ll find appealing boutiques, galleries and design stores where shopping doesn’t feel like it will bankrupt you.

Plan around the sales

18.  Plan around the sales

If you’re a serious fashion fiend, consider timing your Milan visit to coincide with one (or both!) of the two yearly sales ( saldi ) periods. The winter sales generally run from early January through early March, and the summer sales from early July through early September – though check online for the exact dates, which vary slightly each year and are announced about one month before. Sale prices can be up to 70 percent off the original, making it well worth a trip.

Get out of town

19.  Get out of town

If you need an escape from Milan’s urban hustle, there are some fabulous destinations just a train ride away. Bergamo, less than an hour by train, boasts a lovely medieval hilltop old town, while the Italian Lakes – Como, Garda and Maggiore – are also close by (half an hour, an hour-and-a-half and an hour by train, respectively) and offer some of the most romantic settings in all of Italy.

Breaking news, new york will host blockbuster manchester city-ac milan, barcelona-real madrid summer friendlies.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Several of the biggest soccer teams in the world will take the pitch in the New York metropolitan area this summer.

MetLife Stadium and Yankee Stadium will play host to two of the six matches that will be part of the 2024 Soccer Champions Tour, The Post has learned, which takes place from July 27 to Aug. 6 and involves European heavyweights Real Madrid, AC Milan, FC Barcelona, Manchester City and Chelsea.

The two matches in the New York area pit Man City against AC Milan at Yankee Stadium on July 27 and Real Madrid against FC Barcelona at MetLife Stadium on Aug. 3.

“Soccer Champions Tour is thrilled to return this summer with enticing matchups featuring some of the world’s most storied clubs for fans in the U.S. to witness the beautiful game at the highest level,” Commissioner of Soccer Champions Tour Joe Carr said in a statement. “With all five clubs possessing passionate supporters that span the globe, we’re pleased to unveil an exciting range of matches throughout the U.S., a market experiencing exponential growth in the sport’s popularity.”

Erling Braut Haaland scores Manchester City's third goal against Manchester United at Etihad Stadium in Premier League match.

Matches will also take place in Orlando (Barcelona-Manchester City), Chicago (AC Milan-Real Madrid), Baltimore (Barcelona-AC Milan) and Charlotte (Real Madrid-Chelsea) as part of the Soccer Champions Tour.

New York has long been a summer stop for touring international clubs, but carries some extra significance as the metropolitan area gears up to host the World Cup final in 2026.

MetLife Stadium was selected by FIFA last month to host the coveted game, beating out AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, among other potential sites.

With the World Cup coming to North America in two short years’ time, the profile of the sport is growing, and friendlies featuring some of the biggest teams in soccer can only help generate more interest.

Christian Pulisic smiles, wearing AC Milan's red jersey, after scoring the goal in their 1-0 victory against Sassuolo in the Italy Soccer Serie A.

AC Milan boasts US men’s national team star Christian Pulisic on the roster.

Pulisic has been red-hot in his debut season with the Serie A club. He has 12 goals this season for AC Milan and has scored in four straight games recently.

It’s also fitting that AC Milan and Man City will make a stop at Yankee Stadium with both clubs having ties to the Yankees.

The Bronx Bombers own a minority stake in AC Milan and they partnered with City Football Group – owners of Man City – in establishing MLS’ New York City Football Club, which plays part of its home schedule at Yankee Stadium.

English footballer Jude Bellingham waves in a white uniform during Real Madrid CF versus RB Leipzig match at Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid.

Manchester City faced Chelsea in The Bronx in 2013, days after MLS announced NYCFC would join the league as its 20th franchise.

Real Madrid, already boasting a lineup led by midfielder Jude Bellingham, is expected to add superstar forward Kylian Mbappé in a marquee move this summer.

The August match will be Real Madrid’s third time playing at MetLife Stadium and FC Barcelona’s second time playing at the home of the Jets and Giants.

Barcelona last played in the area in 2022, when the Spanish giants faced the New York Red Bulls in a friendly at Red Bull Arena.

Pre-sale tickets for all matches will be available on March 25, and general tickets go on sale March 27 via the Soccer Champions Tour website .

Official: AC Milan to face Man City, Real Madrid and Barcelona in the USA – the details

AC Milan will head back to the United States this summer to take part in the 2024 Soccer Champions Tour, it has been confirmed today.

As the official website confirms, five clubs will take part in the tour: AC Milan, FC Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid CF. They will play games in New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Orlando, Baltimore, and Charlotte.

Milan are back in the USA a second consecutive year for a pre-season tour, following their games against Real Madrid and Juventus in Los Angeles and FC Barcelona in Las Vegas last summer.

It is yet another move by the ownership RedBird Capital to connect with their passionate North American fanbase. With 43 million fans in the US and recognition as the best-regarded Italian football club according to international market research YouGov, Milan have grown to become deeply rooted in the the continent.

Below are the details of the three friendly matches that Milan will play in the USA this summer:

Saturday, 27 July 2024 – vs. Manchester City in New York City, NY

Taking place at the iconic Yankee Stadium, home of the New York Yankees, this game will put the Rossoneri up against Manchester City. The special game will underline the Club’s partnership with the New York Yankees, which brought two of the most iconic sports brands in the world together.

A strategic collaboration resulting from a longstanding relationship between Yankee Global Enterprises and RedBird Capital Partners, the controlling shareholder of AC Milan.

Wednesday, 31 July 2024 – vs Real Madrid CF in Chicago, IL

AC Milan will travel to Chicago, Illinois, for the second game of the exhibition series, where the Rossoneri will take on Real Madrid CF at the historic Soldier Field, which hosted a friendly match between AC Milan and the US Men’s National Team in 1991.

Tuesday, 6 August 2024 – vs FC Barcelona in Baltimore, MD

The Rossoneri’s final game of the tournament will see the team take on FC Barcelona at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland, in an area of the US where AC Milan has a constant presence thanks to its AC Milan Academy Virginia.

The new tour in the summer will allow the team to prepare the new season in state-of-the-art facilities as well, as per the press release.

Exclusive pre-sale tickets will be available starting 25 March, with the general on-sale ticket access beginning on 27 March. For access to the pre-sale, all fans are invited to sign up at www.SoccerChampionsTour.com .

All individual game and venue-specific information is also available at the tour website.

wonder what prices they charge for these games. Still its probs worth it to the fans, over the pond, to get to see their team live, even if it is just a friendly

Sadly, I doubt the premium on the price would be for seeing our side. However, great opportunity for the existing fanbase and for our team to get some minutes against the best in the world right now + Barca 🙂

so we’ll play in Australia vs Roma and also in U.S.

I don’t know the full details but from a first look it seems like the whole focus is on marketing rather than building a team and making solid training during pre-season … should we be surprised that we get injuries?

The Australia tour is a totally a money/marketing exercise. It’s “post” season. Not pre season. Just days after the last game in the serie a season and the same weekend as the UCL final. Most of the best players will be heading into international camps for Euro and skipping the tour. It’s not even happening in a part of Australia where there are many Milan fans. There far more decendents of Italian migrants on the east coast Australia vs Perth.

I can only assume the club has been offered a very big pay day by the West Australian state government to do the game. And will mostly send youth team players.

Like leao and chuk said Let’s beat them all !!

“43 million milan fans in US”. BS ain’t no way 43 out of 331 million are milan fans

Man arrested for boarding flight with someone else's ticket: How he reportedly did it

travel man in milan

The FBI is investigating an incident where a man allegedly took a picture of someone else’s boarding pass to illegally board a Delta Air Lines flight on Sunday, according to a criminal complaint filed in the United States District Court for the District of Utah.

According to the complaint, officers removed the passenger – identified as Wicliff Yves Fleurizard of George, Texas – from Flight 1683, departing Salt Lake City for Austin, Texas.

Fleurizard was arrested on one felony count of stowing away on a vessel or aircraft and faces a fine or no more than a five-year sentence, or both.

The complaint said surveillance footage of the boarding area showed Fleurizard taking photos of multiple passengers' phones “while they were not looking.” A Delta gate agent who was interviewed said a minor female passenger traveling alone had an issue when she tried to scan her ticket – the system showed she was already on board.

When the aircraft was preparing to take off, Fleurizard spent “a significant amount of time in the lavatory” in the front of the aircraft before moving to the back lavatory.

During taxiing, a flight attendant noticed “there were no available seats” left, so she approached Fleurizard to help. He told her his seat was 21F, but the flight attendant verified the seat wasn’t under Fleurizard’s name.

The flight crew looked up Fleurizard’s real name and were unable to locate a valid ticket or reservation for him under the Guest Service Tool. Since Fleurizard was not authorized to be on board, the plane returned to the gate, and he was escorted off the flight.

Fleurizard told officers he was in Utah for a snowboarding trip and “needed to get home to see his family who had flown in from Florida,” according to the complaint, adding that he tried to use his friend’s Southwest Airlines buddy pass on Saturday but all the flights were booked. He used the Southwest flight to get through security.

“Fleurizard admitted he made a mistake and was only trying to get home,” the complaint said.

Delta said it is “cooperating with law enforcement and relevant federal agencies regarding an investigation.”

The flight landed in Austin 30 minutes later than its scheduled arrival time. Fleurizard is held on a federal detainer at Salt Lake County Metro Jail .

Last month, a woman reportedly boarded an American Airlines flight from Nashville, Tennessee, to Los Angeles without a boarding pass by passing through an unmanned section of security. She was met with law enforcement upon arrival.

Man sneaked photos of boarding passes to get on Delta plane, complaint says

travel man in milan

A Texas man is accused of photographing other passengers’ boarding passes to sneak onto a Delta Air Lines flight from Salt Lake City on Sunday, leading to his arrest on a felony charge after flight attendants recognized suspicious circumstances before takeoff.

Wicliff Yves Fleurizard, 26, of George, Tex., managed to board a flight to Austin using a photo of a female minor’s boarding pass that he secretly took when she was not looking, according to a criminal complaint filed at the U.S. District Court of Utah.

Surveillance footage from Salt Lake City International Airport showed Fleurizard taking photos of multiple passengers’ phones or mobile boarding passes near the flight’s gate, the complaint states. When a female minor attempted to board, a Delta gate agent discovered that the system showed she was already on the plane. She had been traveling alone using a ticket purchased by her father, according to the court filing.

Once on the plane, Fleurizard’s behavior before takeoff caught the attention of flight attendants. He attempted to open the emergency equipment storage door, leading one staff member to guide him to the lavatory at the front of the aircraft. Then he “spent a significant amount of time” in the bathroom while others boarded, and switched to the lavatory at the back of the plane after all passengers had entered the plane and the doors were secured, the complaint states.

As the plane began to taxi to the runway, Fleurizard indicated his seat to a flight attendant, but it was already occupied. Flight staff looked up his name in their Guest Service Tool system but were unable to find any Delta reservation matching his name.

The plane returned to the gate, where Salt Lake City police officers met with Fleurizard. He told law enforcement officers that he had been on a snowboarding trip to Park City, Utah, and that he had tried to get home using a Southwest Airlines “buddy pass” that a friend had given him, according to the court filing.

Fleurizard told police officers that he had tried to board two Southwest flights on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning using his ticket, but both were overbooked and could not provide him a seat. The airline reassigned him for the third time to a flight at 3 p.m. Sunday, but Fleurizard left the Southwest boarding area, the complaint states.

Fleurizard then attempted to take the Delta Air Lines flight, which was scheduled to take off hours earlier than the Southwest ticket, at 9:50 a.m., according to FlightAware .

“Fleurizard admitted he had made a mistake and was only trying to get home,” the court filing states. He now has one count of a felony charge for being a stowaway on an aircraft.

A lawyer for Fleurizard was not listed in public court documents as of Wednesday evening.

Delta Air Lines, the Transportation Security Administration, Salt Lake City International Airport and the Salt Lake City Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Gonzalez-Reyes’ charges stem from an attempted motor vehicle stop in Feb. 2024 in which he was identified as the driver of a vehicle who failed to stop for an officer, police said.

They said he was later seen by another officer driving approximately 100 miles per hour.

Gonzalez-Reyes was taken into custody on Commerce Way.

Police charged him with engaging police in a pursuit, reckless driving, operating under suspension, improper use of a marker plate, violation of a traffic signal, and failure to insure a private motor vehicle.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Man City and AC Milan to play in U.S. pre-season series

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City and AC Milan will participate in a pre-season series in the United States ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

The five teams will play six matches across six cities as part of the Soccer Champions Tour which will run from July 27 to August 6.

The Yankee Stadium in New York, Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Soldier Field in Chicago, MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore and Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte will host the six fixtures.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Milan will all play three matches as part of the series, Manchester City will play twice and Chelsea will compete in a single fixture each.

Chelsea and Manchester City are already scheduled to meet in a pre-season friendly in Columbus , in a fixture separate from the series.

Chelsea will also play League Two side Wrexham at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California before the series, while City will play Celtic at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on July 23.

Premier League to cancel 2024 Summer Series tour

The dates for the tour overlap with the 2024 Paris Olympics, which take place between July 24 and August 10.

This could impact a number of players at the Soccer Champions Tour, including Real Madrid’s France internationals Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni , while Barcelona’s Pedri would again be eligible to represent Spain as an under-23 player, having featured at the Tokyo Olympics three years earlier.

Real Madrid’s position is that players who play at this summer’s European Championship or Copa America should not play at the Olympics . Separately, the Spanish side have said that their players who feature in the semi-finals of the Euros or Copa will not take part in their Soccer Champions Tour matches.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Milan all featured at last year’s Soccer Champions Tour, alongside Manchester United, Arsenal and Juventus.

Clubs are prioritising the U.S. for pre-season due to expected market congestion in 2025 and 2026 with the FIFA Club World Cup and the men’s World Cup, both tournaments which will take place over the summer.

Tickets for the Soccer Champions Tour go on sale on March 27.
