12 Day Rockies Hiking and Camping Tour
This was an excellent trip. The hikes were fantastic each day in wonderful scenery. The 2 guides Kevin and Jafar were outstanding throughout. The food was great too. Lots of variety and very tasty. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone that enjoys hiking and an outdoor adventure. The Rockies are amazing.

Canadian Rockies: National Parks Westbound
Loved the tour and our guide was awesome very well organised and fun, adaptive and flexible. Great trip overall with lots of activities. Would be great to have a night in Victoria in a hostel rather than campground as it was too far from the city. Personally for me I would prefer more freedom on what to eat as I am quite picky and would love to have more opportunity to eat out rather than being restricted by tight food budget of a campground, also I thought I would rather spend more time doing things than cooking/washing and just pick up my own lunch on the go but thats a personal preference. Would also be great to see similar tours running for people looking for more challenging hiking. My suggestion would be to run a group once a month with the same program but substituting most hikes with moderate/difficult ones rather than super relaxed walking and put fitness level as a requirement for the trip. It seems there is a gap on the market between hardcore expiditions with heavy backpacks and chilled tours requiring below average level of fitness.
Rockies Classic Summer Tour
Great tour, Chris the tour guide was awesome and Mr Ye was the best
The Best of Banff and Jasper, Campingtour
I had a wonderful time! I only wish the tour had been longer. Our guide Rebecca was super great and funny. We ate well and saw some amazing views. I was worried I wouldn’t be fit enough however it was fine. I normally walk/run three kilometres a day so while this trip was a workout I was fine keeping up.

Heart of the Canadian Rockies
My overall experience was very good. The tour guide Sue was very informative and entertaining. The driver Kim also helped to make the trip a memorable one
Wonders of the Canadian Rockies (10 Days) (7 destinations)
The trip was absolutely brilliant and highly recommended! Breathtaking landscapes, many animals and a super group! We were very lucky with the weather except 1 time. Unfortunately, we could not visit Maligne Lake due to snowfall. The personal highlight for me was the whale tour in Victoria. We saw a lot of orcas, fantastic! The only thing I would add is 2 full days in Victoria. We had 2 nights but only 1 day of that available. The morning was Butchers Garden and the afternoon was whale watching. So you could not visit the city of Victoria well.
The tour is run well and the scenery really makes it worth it. There is a lot of time in the bus but that is too be expected and it is broken up well. The included meals and activities are lacking though and the trip is definitely weather dependent so should maybe have more back up plans otherwise.
- 10% deposit on some dates Some departure dates offer you the chance to book this tour with a lower deposit.
This was an excellent tour, taking us to all the must see places around Banff and Jasper. Taylor was a superb guide, knowledgeable and personable.
Real Canada
Trip leader Michelle Tepel was incredible, with an amazing sense of humour and patience personified! The participatory camping was an awesome way to explore this region with a food kitty enabling your budget to go a long way! The hikes, lakes, glaciers, snow-tipped mountains and amazing wildlife on this trip blow you away on a daily basis. Nothing like the Rockies! This is a must do trip!

Great tour. Not so great waiting while others who chose to do add on activities such as 3 hours at the ski resort and 1 1/2 hour at the gondola. My friend with me complained about dirty windows on the van. Guides were great as was accommodation in Banff. Sights were spectacular. It was an unforgettable experience.

To whom it may concern, Last year at this time, I went with friend Susan Tan to Banff National Park for the 12-day hiking, it has been a wonderful life experience for me. The quality of your service is very high. Our Guide Kevin and Morgan have been so helpful. The 5-star evaluation is not enough to express my gratitude. I wish both of them, and your business, all the very best at my anniversary of Banff National Bank Hiking Trip. Best regards, Katherine Wang
This trip was the best experience of my life so far! My CEO Melanie was so amazing, I felt so at ease and happy throughout every step of the tour. This is the perfect trip to see some of Canada. 100000/10 would recommend to everyone!
Excellent tour Chris was a great tour guide and had lots of information. Yee the driver was very helpful and I would recommend the tour there was so much to see but rushed at time and would have liked to spend more time in Banff. Robert Hanna

Typically all that is required to travel for most HolidayMax packages for Australian citizens is:

- take Covid tests
- complete travel declarations
without requirements to quarantine or other Covid travel restrictions. More countries are expected to follow since all governments have detailed strategies to live with Covid and to enable their tourism industry to flourish again. # Relax - we will provide you with assistance with identifying any pre-travel requirements still remaining.
Many travel insurance providers are now offering good cover for Covid, including:
- Travel disruptions and additional expenses due to Covid

- Cancellation Cover
- Medical expenses cover
Insurance cover can be very inexpensive, like only $150 for three weeks in Europe # . We strongly recommend taking out travel insurance with Covid cover. Canadian Rockies Tours & Holidays
‘There’s no way that’s not Photoshopped’...
This is what your friends will say when you show them your Canadian Rockies travel pics. This mighty mountain range is a (huge) segment of the Rocky Mountains which spans 4800 kilometres from British Columbia to New Mexico . It’s home to four national parks – Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Yoho – and some of North America ’s most breathtaking scenery. Think impossibly blue lakes, sprawling glaciers and ice fields, and ink-blank skies occasionally graced with the Northern Lights . If you like the sound of trekking in the shadows of snow-dusted peaks, standing in the mist of some of Canada ’s tallest waterfalls or canoeing to a secluded beach to camp under the stars, then a Canadian Rockies trip has your name all over it.

Do i need a covid-19 vaccine to join an intrepid trip.

From 1 January 2023, Intrepid will no longer require travellers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (excluding all Polar trips and select adventure cruises).
However, we continue to strongly recommend that all Intrepid travellers and leaders get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.
Specific proof of testing or vaccination may still be required by your destination or airline. Please ensure you check travel and entry requirements carefully.
How to get to the Canadian Rockies
There are a few ways you can get to the Canadian Rockies depending on where you're travelling from.
The easiest (and quickest) way is to fly to Calgary, about an hour and a half from Banff National Park. (Most of our Rockies trips begin in Calgary or Vancouver, anyway). You can then hire a car at the airport or jump on a shuttle bus to Banff.
You could also fly to Edmonton, which is about a four hour drive away from Banff and Jasper.
How do I get around the Canadian Rockies?
Covering almost 200,000 square kilometres across Alberta and British Columbia, the best way to get around the Canadian Rockies is to join a tour or drive.
If you've flown into Calgary (the closest airport to Banff National Park), you can hire a vehicle from several car rental companies and continue your journey to the Rockies.
Without a car, you may struggle to travel around the region's national parks.
When is the best time to visit the Canadian Rockies?
The best time to visit the Canadian Rockies depends on the activities you want to do. Summer is for kayaking, swimming, hiking and camping, while winter calls for ice skating, dog sledding and skiing down Canada's best slopes. Winter also offers a chance to see the Northern Lights.
The summer (June through August) is the peak season in the Rockies thanks to the milder weather, which also means higher accommodation prices and more people on the trails. Try going in the 'shoulder' months of April, May, September or October for a balance of good weather and smaller crowds.
What do I pack for a trip to the Canadian Rockies?
Packing for a trip to the Canadian Rockies is similar to packing for a trip anywhere. What you pack largely depends on the time of year you're travelling.
If you're going in winter, pack appropriate weather clothing such as gloves, beanies, waterproof jackets, long pants etc.
If you're travelling in summer, pack sunscreen, a sunhat, t-shirts, dresses, and shorts.
You should also pack the essentials: a camera, a reusable drink bottle, and a backpack/day bag.
Are Intrepid trips accessible for travellers with disabilities?
We are committed to making travel widely accessible , regardless of ability or disability. We do our best to help you see the world, regardless of physical or mental limitations.
We are always happy to talk to travellers with disabilities and see if we can help guide them toward the most suitable itinerary for their needs and, where possible, make reasonable adjustments to our itineraries.

Canadian Rockies Guided Tours
There is no question too small. Start planning your dream trip by talking to our Destination Specialists
Reaching north into Canada and south as far as New Mexico, the Rocky Mountains are strewn with national parks, including Yellowstone, Glacier and Bryce Canyon. Affectionately known as the Rockies, here you can feel the heat from simmering mud pots and the cold of glacial lakes, hear the sounds of wildlife, such as bears and wolves, and the screech of eagles as they swoop overhead. There are numerous walking trails, and licensed riding stables that provide tours on horseback. You may prefer to enjoy a day quietly fishing in one of the many lakes or discovering the art of cattle driving on a ranch. Visit Mount Rushmore, where sculpted heads of past presidents are carved into the rock, and marvel at snow-capped peaks in Colorado.
Our escorted tours of the Rockies encompass incredible and varied scenery, some not out of place in a wild west film. Our National Parks Explorer will show you awesome vistas at the mighty Grand Canyon, the sandstone rock formations of Arches National Park and the hoodoos in Bryce Canyon. Our Yellowstone Wildlife Trails Tour focuses on Grand Teton, Yellowstone and Glacier national parks. Frequently asked questions, what clothing should i wear in the rockies.
Even in summer time you will need light but sturdy walking boots, layers and a fleece for high altitudes and a waterproof jacket in case of thunderstorms. Don’t forget sun cream, mosquito repellent, binoculars, a map, and a hat as well as snacks, water and a mini first aid kit with plasters.
What’s the best way to get around the Rockies?
There are 355 miles of hiking trails, but also wonderful scenic drives. Keen horse riders might want to consider booking with one of the stables licensed to ride in the national park.
Is the wildlife in the Rockies dangerous?
Wild animals try their hardest not to disturb us and visitors should return the favour. If you walk in groups and keep children close you will be one of the millions of visitors who stay safe in the Rockies every year.

Day 1 : Fly to Calgary
Upon arrival we check in to our accommodations in Calgary.
Day 2 : Discover Calgary
We begin our morning by meeting our local guide to learn more about this spectacular city that sits just east of the Rocky Mountains. After enjoying the highlights of Calgary, we travel 630 feet above downtown to the top of Calgary Tower for lunch at Sky 360. Relax and savor this delectable meal in the revolving restaurant while taking in exceptional views of the city and mountains. Later, we journey through the foothills and up into the mountains to Banff for two fantastic evenings, surrounded by some of the best natural beauty in the world.
Day 3 : Banff
Our day in Banff National Park starts with visiting a Mountie, a retired Canadian Mounted Police member, to hear intriguing stories of their years in service and learn about the “Red Serge” uniforms of scarlet tunics. Lunch today provides savory meals and breathtaking views at the historic and grand Fairmont Banff Springs hotel. Afterwards, we immerse ourselves in this unique mountain town and take a panoramic tour of all that Banff has to offer, including a relaxing gondola ride to a mountaintop for bird’s-eye views of the awe-inspiring vistas that surround us. The evening is ours to explore our own interests.
Day 4 : Columbia Icefield
Our adventure today begins with a journey into Jasper National Park along Icefields Parkway. This beautiful area is famous for the glacial blue waters of its many lakes nestled among the mountains. Upon reaching the Columbia Icefield, we board a giant Ice Explorer that carries us onto a 10,000-year-old sheet of ice, known as Athabasca Glacier. Enjoy the unique experience of walking out onto this natural wonder and take a sip of fresh glacial water as we learn about its powerful history. Later, we travel to Jasper and check in to our accommodations for the evening.
Day 5 : Ride the Rails
This morning we board VIA Rail’s historic Canadian train and begin our scenic journey to Vancouver in their Sleeper Plus cars. Enjoy top-notch service and unforgettable experiences onboard as you roll past majestic mountains, lush forests, and spectacular waterfront, only accessible by rail. Delight in choosing decadent gourmet meals that are prepared by the chefs onboard and enjoyed in the dining car. Freely move to the skyline car for comfortable lounging in the scenic dome section with windows that extend to the ceiling for outstanding views.
Day 6 : Vancouver
Following an included breakfast on the train this morning, we arrive in Vancouver and take time to explore the city. Surrounded by water on three sides and nestled along the Coast Mountain Range, this vibrant city is the largest in British Columbia. We then find our adventurous side on a walk across the iconic Capilano Suspension Bridge, providing spectacular views from over 200 feet above the rushing river below. Those not ready to conquer a fear of heights can visit the nearby Trading Post to shop for locally made crafts and goods. After, we check in to our accommodations for the night.
Day 7 : The Butchart Gardens®
This morning we board a ferry for Vancouver Island to visit The Butchart Gardens®, one of the most acclaimed horticultural exhibitions in the world. Stroll along pathways through wonderfully landscaped, themed gardens. Enjoy seasonal floral displays and see the Ross Fountain play its water patterns every four minutes. Later, we arrive in enchanting Victoria, the provincial capital of British Columbia. Shops, cafes, and interesting attractions are just a stroll away from our accommodations for the next two evenings.
Day 8 : Victoria
Our day starts with joining a local guide for a tour of Victoria. The city began as an outpost for the Hudson Bay Company in 1843 and is now known for its rich British culture, magnificent architecture, and time-honored traditions. We view historic sites, including the Parliament Building on the lovely Inner Harbor, and behold beautiful flower beds and gardens that reflect the area’s passion for gardening. After a delicious lunch, we have the afternoon at leisure to browse the charming shops or visit local attractions.
Day 9 : Ferry to Washington
This morning we depart Victoria by ferry to cross the Strait of Juan de Fuca and international border, arriving in Washington. A picturesque drive along the Olympic Peninsula brings us into Seattle for the evening. Tonight, we enjoy a Farewell Dinner at the hotel to celebrate our adventures through the Canadian Rockies and Western Canada.
Day 10 : Fly Home
Bid farewell as we depart for the airport.
