Visit Albuquerque launches new campaign highlighting iconic roadway in New Mexico
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A new advertising tactic is hitting the rails in Denver. It encourages people to not only visit Albuquerque but also to check out the iconic Mother Road ahead of a big celebration.
“Since February 2023, five trains on Denver’s light rail system have carried Visit Albuquerque advertisements,” said Visit Albuquerque President/CEO Tania Armenta.
For more than a year, Visit Albuquerque has been trying to draw people to come to the Land of Enchantment.
“The designs have showcased Pueblo pottery, colonel Hispanic art of tin, punched tin, hot air ballooning, the architecture of Old Town,” said Armenta.
It’s particularly focusing on our neighbor to the north: Colorado.
“We know Denver is always one of our top markets for visitation to Albuquerque, and so that’s why Denver was actually selected,” said Armenta.
Armenta is hoping to draw people in to celebrate the iconic highway that runs through the state.
“It celebrates Route 66, and of course, work towards the Mother Road’s upcoming centennial in 2026,” said Armenta.
They want to show off the many years of history on Route 66.
“It’s very vibrant, and its colors and shapes pay homage to the iconic neon signs that you’d find on Route 66 throughout Albuquerque; just a very fun design,” said Armenta.
With many more ideas on the way, they’re hoping this can set the stage for the big celebration.
“This is one component of a larger campaign that we’re working with partners including the City of Albuquerque in terms of centennial marketing,” said Armenta.
It’s a way to make sure eyes are on New Mexico.
“It runs through all of the suburbs, and so it’s running from Littleton to Boulder, and those trains also run to Denver International Airport, so you are getting not just Denver residents but visitors as well,” said Armenta.
