  • ScottishTourist01 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Another chance for a free power shower… So it is an experience to go up to the falls at water level, without a doubt. Boats take a lot of people on each trip and it feels crowded, you get a cover over plastic Mac but you’re still going to get wet. Not essential for a view of the falls but if you want to feel the power of the falls this is one of the few ways to do it. Read more Written March 3, 2024
  • 288p_ls 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles In the Middle of the Falls It1s a very well organized attraction. There were a lot of people but we couldd take the first boat. You will wet as standing near to the falls Read more Written January 28, 2024
  • Waynetraveller 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles A great way to get close to the falls We wanted to get up close without taking too long or getting soaked. This was 30 minutes return trip. • Curiosity15106186835 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Highlight of our trip! This cruise was the highlight of our trip to Niagara! We booked last minute after our original tour company fell through and could not have been more pleased with our experience. Seeing the falls up close was a life changing experience! We did get wet but luckily it was sunny for a November afternoon and we dried off quickly! Read more Written November 15, 2023
  • caseycres 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Pleasantly Surprised by the Experience We were not sure whether to do this as, watching from above the first day of our visit, all boatloads were crowded to capacity and did not look like any kind of fun. However, our second day, we were up early, the sun was shining and we made our way directly to the cruise and managed to get on the first boat which was not at all crowded. Pleased to say too, that we enjoyed it immensely. The feel of the spray once you get into the centre of Horseshoe Falls is phenomenal. The ponchos only help keep a little of the mist away but it is great fun to experience and we were both smiling and laughing, even while getting a thorough drenching. I would suggest a must-do when visiting Niagara Falls. Read more Written November 5, 2023
  • O6488RUtheresap 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Stunning way to see the falls We took the fireworks cruise. Stunning. The weather was chilly - about 49 degrees - but the cruise was beautiful. The lights on the falls amazing and the fireworks was the perfect ending. We were there for the last show of the season. Read more Written October 11, 2023
  • JoanAndDennisLINY 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Must see views of the falls!! Excellent cruise and tour of the American & the Canadian Falls! We’ll organized. Cruise takes you past both falls. You are provided with ponchos after your ticket is scanned, and believe me you will need them. The falls has tons of mist falling on you like rain on even the most mild weather days, but the view is spectacular! Highly recommend! Wear appropriate footwear because your feet will be soaked! Fun day!! Read more Written October 7, 2023

  • EmiJacks25 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Must-do to really experience the falls This was one of the best things we did with our time at Niagara. The boat ride to the Falls was fun and informative, and it was the best possible way to really get a feel for the power of the falls. Plus, we got our tickets in advance and barely had to wait at all. Dress to get wet! Even with the ponches our shirts were wet, but dried out quickly. I recommend a waterproof phone case! T he 20-minute Voyage to the Falls boat tour that gets you as close as possible to the magnificent Niagara Falls. Reservations are not necessary and tickets can be purchased at the attraction ticket window. During a typical season the boat rides below Niagara Falls opens in late April or early May and runs until mid to late October.

All guests are issued a disposable plastic poncho to wear during the tour which will keep you reasonably dry. When the boat gets close to the Canadian Falls is where you will encounter the majority of mist. If you wish to stay dry simply move to another location on the boat where there is less mist. The tour lasts 15-20 minutes. For clothing, summer is for shorts and t-shirts. A pair of beach shoes or sneakers work fine but don’t wear anything you wouldn’t want to get damp. For spring and fall weather you need to dress appropriately for the local weather and just expect to get slightly damp. Usually you will have the ability to get great photos right up until you get close to the base of the Canadian Falls. Remember that even a slight mist on your camera lens will ruin any photo!

The entrance is in Queen Victoria Park less than a minute walk from the base of Clifton Hill. Parking is available at one of three very large parking lots near Queen Victoria Park. The closest parking lot which does require taking stairs to the park is on Clifton Hill and aptly named Clifton Hill Parking . For navigation use:  4960 Clifton Hill Parking , Niagara Falls Ontario Canada.

Skylon Tower parking lot is very close to the Clifton Hill Parking lot and you can either take stairs or the sidewalk on Murray St to get to the park. For navigation use:  Skylon Tower parking lot 5200 Robinson Street Niagara Falls Ontario Canada.

Niagara Parks parking lot use:  Niagara Falls Lot #1 6650 Niagara Pkwy, Niagara Falls Ontario Canada.

If the Niagara Parks lot is full when you enter they will direct you to one of their satellite lots which then requires using the WEGO shuttle bus service. This lot usually never fills to capacity except during the months of July and August. If you plan on visiting the brink of the Canadian Falls at Table Rock during your visit this is the most convenient parking lot to use.

While the Best Western is not within walking distance of the Falls we think this is a high quality hotel for the price. Reviews are almost always very good with very few complaints.

For those of you who might visit Niagara Falls during the off-season the large swimming pool is very inviting and of course the kids just love it.

NIAGARA FALLS BOAT TOUR CANADA SIDE

niagara-falls-boat-tour-canada-side

In the early 1800’s there were no bridges across the Niagara River, boats were the only mode of transportation available for crossing the Niagara River, especially near Niagara Falls.  The first ferry started out near Niagara Falls on the American side of the border. The boat was christened Maid of the Mist in 1846 as a border-crossing ferry. It ferry was used to transport passengers and cargo from the US to Canada.

With the opening of a suspension bridge in 1848 between the US and Canada at Niagara Falls, the ferry’s business declined. As a result, the owners decided to convert the ferry service into a sightseeing trip of the Niagara Falls. The route was altered to take people closer to the three waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls.

In due course of time, there were two Maid of the Mist boat rides operated from either side of the Niagara River, one from the US side and the other from the Canadian side. Each followed a similar route upto the Horseshoe Falls and then back to their respective docks. Maid of the Mist stopped operating from Canada in 2013. From 2014, Niagara Falls Boat Tour Canadian Side started being operated by Hornblower, a California-based company.

Enjoy the New and Improved Niagara Falls Boat Tour Canada Side

Starting in the spring of 2014, Hornblower started operating the Niagara Falls Boat Tours Canada Side. Hornblower introduced state-of-the-art catamarans with a capacity of 700 passengers. The Hornblower catamaran has two hulls, improving its maneuverability.
