Paul McCartney Greenville concert setlist as Freshen Up Tour gets into gear
Paul McCartney played 38 songs in Greenville Thursday night, during his Freshen Up Tour stop at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
The set lists have been fairly consistent throughout the tour, and at Thursday's concert, McCartney joked about fans holding up signs requesting songs, saying that while "it's really nice," he may not remember the chords and lyrics to songs he hasn't rehearsed lately.

Paul McCartney Kicks Off ‘Freshen Up’ Tour in Canada: Set List and Video
Paul McCartney began the Freshen Up tour with a 39-song set at the Centre Videotron in Quebec City last night .
The shows are in support of his new album, Egypt Station , which just became McCartney's first No. 1 LP in 36 years.
The set began with "A Hard Day's Night," one of 23 Beatles songs performed at the concert. McCartney pulled out seven cuts from his Wings days, including "Letting Go," the Venus and Mars track that made the Top 40 in 1975, and "Let "Em In," which he hasn't played since 2012.
McCartney also promoted his latest album with " Come On to Me ," "Who Cares" and " Fuh You ." You can see video and the set list from the show below.
The concert was the first of four nights in Canada , with shows in Montreal, Winnipeg and Edmonton taking place between Thursday and Sept. 30, after which McCartney will head to Japan and Europe.
The Canada dates are the closest he'll get to the U.S. until May 23, when he begins a month-long tour at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
While McCartney is actively working his latest album, he's also considering looking back into his past for his next. He recently said there's a possibility of a new edit of the 1970 Let It Be documentary , which hasn't been commercially available since 1982.
For all the famous acrimony within the group during the sessions, McCartney noted that unreleased footage shows “a bunch of guys making music and enjoying it.”

From Wikipedia :
Freshen Up was a concert tour by English musician Paul McCartney that commenced on 17 September 2018 with a four-concert leg in Canada. The tour was McCartney’s first tour after the release of his album, Egypt Station . Prior to the announcement of the tour, McCartney revealed he would headline the 17th Austin City Limits Music Festival at Zilker Park, in October 2018. In November 2019, the tour was extended into the following year, to include McCartney’s first concerts in Italy since his Out There tour. A headlining appearance at the 2020 Glastonbury Festival was to be the final concert of the tour; however, it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which later led to the cancelation of all the concerts scheduled for 2020.
From paulmccartney.com , July 3rd:
Paul will make his eagerly anticipated return to the road with his new #FreshenUpTour. Four confirmed dates were announced this morning, marking Paul’s first series of live dates since the ‘One On One’ tour that played to some two million fans over the course of 2016 and 2017. The ‘Freshen Up’ tour will also be Paul’s first outing following the release of his brand new studio album, Egypt Station , out September 7th on Capitol Records. ‘Freshen Up’ will begin September 17th at the Videotron Centre in Québec, Paul’s first show in the Canadian capital since his 2013 stop at the Plains of Abraham on the ‘Out There’ tour. From there, Paul will visit Montreal for the first time since the ‘On The Run’ tour in 2011 to play the Bell Centre on September 20th, before returning to Winnipeg September 28th to play Bell MTS Place, his first performance in the capital of Manitoba since 2013. ‘Freshen Up’s’ Canadian itinerary will conclude with a visit to a final Canadian capital city, Edmonton, Alberta, for a September 30th show at Rogers Place—Paul’s first appearance in the city since 2012.
Well, I was thinking about this tour an I was saying to my promoter Barrie [Marshall]: I’m probably going to do ‘Hey Jude’, I’m probably going to do ‘Let It Be’, we’re probably going to do ‘Live And Let Die’… Or: the other option is, we leave them out and we do something completely radical. But I think for people coming to the show they might expect those songs – and if it was me I think I’d like to see those in the show. So I realised that it wouldn’t so much be a radically new show as it would a freshen up. So, re-looking at the production, introducing some songs off the new album, obviously – and generally rejigging things so it’s a fresh new show without actually being a radical rethink of what I bring to an audience. Paul mccartney freshen up tour - a concert review (lexington, ky).
4 comments:
thanks for an honest & interesting review ; especially dislike Fuh You & wish Yesterday was still sung.. nyc64
Happy that you were able to go!
More and more, he's looking like Old Jim McCartney with a dishmop on his head.
They complain about Wayne Newton's voice? Paul won't sing "Yesterday" simply because he knows that he dishonors his finest song by trying to sing it. This should be it for him. There's nothing left to prove and all those years of heavy smoking have finally completely destroyed his singing vocal cords. Plus he 77. He gave it all he had. That's more than good enough.
