Bayern Munich is one of the biggest clubs in the world. As part of maintaining that status, they visit different countries across the globe for brand exposure and marketing. Famous examples include visits to China and the United States. Word on the road is Bayern will participate in a mini tournament in the summer with Liverpool FC , Tottenham Hotspur , and AS Roma in Singapore (with potential destinations in mind too). Now, Bayern are going further south to Australia (per Tz’s Manuel Bonke as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia ):

Bayern are planning a marketing trip to Australia in the week after the last Bundesliga game against Köln on May 27. A friendly game against an all-star team from the Australian A-League is likely to take place in Sydney, though a final decision hasn’t been made yet.

Once the Bundesliga season finishes, Bayern will have a week off before they jet off to the other side of the globe to play against the best of the A-League. It’s gonna be hot down there so have your sunscreen ready, boys!

Bayern Munich , one of the most successful football clubs in the world, will not be coming to Australia to take on the A-League All-Stars due to financial constraints.

According to German newspaper Bild , the Australian tour that was scheduled to take place at the end of May has been cancelled because the organisers were unable to meet the club's financial demands of 4-5million euros ($6.7 to $8.3million AUD).

The cancellation will be a major blow for football fans in Australia who have now been robbed of the chance to see some of the world's best players  in action.

The A-League All-Stars concept returned last year with a match against Spanish giants Barcelona , which attracted over 70,000 fans to Accor Stadium in Sydney .

The All-Stars team comprised players from the national competition and was coached by Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke.

Bayern Munich was expected to bring a star-studded lineup to Australia, including former Liverpool player Sadio Mane, German internationals Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane, and Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt.

The club has won six European Cup/Champions League titles and is widely regarded as one of the most glamorous and successful teams in football.

While the announcement will be disappointing for Aussie football fans, it will be a relief for the Germany-based players, who would have had to endure a grueling 30,000 kilometers of air travel to get to Australia and back.

'Well it would've helped if they played more than a single game after coming all the way here,' a fan posted.

Despite the setback, Bayern Munich is not giving up on its plans to promote the club in the Asia-Pacific region.

In preparation for the 2023/24 season, the club will be embarking on a tour of Japan and Singapore in late July. The tour will include a training camp and several test matches, including one against Kawasaki Frontale.

Irankunda to follow the footsteps of Bayern prodigies Davies, Tel

Graham Arnold talks about the potential of Bayern Munich-bound 17-year-old Nestory Irankunda and his future presence in the Socceroos squad. (2:05)

Nestory Irankunda , Australia's latest wunderkind will become a Bayern Munich player on July 1, 2024, after a deal was announced between the German champions and A-League club Adelaide United last week.

Various European powers at one point or another had been circling the prodigal attacker for months, but the links with the Bavarian giants had been the strongest and most persistent since they emerged, to the extent that many in the Australian footballing scene had long considered it a fait accompli well before Fabrizio Romano tweeted that a deal that including a transfer fee worth a base of £3 million with add-ons was on the verge of being signed.

- Stream on ESPN+: LaLiga, Bundesliga, more (U.S.)

Reports from Australia and Germany have since cast doubt on that figure, with Sky Sports Germany reporting the initial fixed fee will be in the six figures with bonus payments attached. Adelaide would say only it was a "club-record" sum, and the prevailing sentiment is that the deal is, at least initially, less than Romano reported.

Regardless of how much the transfer fee is, though, it is a monumental step in the journey of a player born in a refugee camp in Tanzania after his parents fled the Burundi Civil War. After arriving in Australia as a three-month-old he hasn't waited around; honed in South Australia's NPL before bursting onto the national radar after making his debut for Adelaide at the tender age of 15. Since then, he has gone on to become one of the most exciting prospects Australian football has produced.

Signing Irankunda makes a lot of sense for Bayern regardless of whether the fee is on the high or low end, because it will ultimately be a drop in the ocean for a club the size of the German champions in return for a highly touted prospect.

Now, where does Irankunda rank in a contemporary global and historical Australian context? It's impossible to answer, and not useful to try. Such comparisons are inexact and prone to being tainted by the hindsight of what came next. Progression and development aren't linear. Irankunda is his own person, with his own journey that will be governed just as much by everything in his life away from football as much as on it. Amid the excitement, it's important to keep that in mind when contemplating the future of a 17-year-old. He has started just three senior league games. Three. Even if society deems it acceptable to scrutinise a teenager to the nth degree because they are an athlete, there's a person at the core of it all.

Nonetheless -- and here's where the hypocrisy comes in -- Irankunda is also an incredibly talented young footballer who has spoken of embracing the challenges and journey associated with that. His playing style is one that generates an inordinate amount of excitement because it's a rare combination of enormous potential and unabashed fun to watch. In full flight, there are few players in A-League history who have been able to produce the kind of moments that Irankunda has.

This is highlighted by something that feels more akin to a howitzer than a right foot; a weapon so fearsome that one can forgive a goalkeeper for thinking more of their safety than keeping the ball out of the net. Irankunda's shooting technique not only makes his thunderous attempts at goal replicable, but also allows him to display almost unnerving precision to go with all that power: guiding shots into areas that keepers struggle to get to even if they aren't hit with such venom.

This proficiency extends to dead-ball situations; his effort against Melbourne City in late October left Jamie Young , a former England youth international and one of the best pure shot-stoppers in the history of the A-League Men, unable to do anything other than watch it sail into the top corner of the net.

NESTORY IRANKUNDA IS ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL 🤯🚀 A world-class free-kick from the 17-year-old @AdelaideUnited star 🤩 Wow. Just wow. #ADLvMCY #ALM pic.twitter.com/qOJA9zPzUp — Isuzu UTE A-League (@aleaguemen) October 29, 2023

This is combined with a sense of determined and aggressive purpose when on the ball, and a fierce desire to burn past his man and either find the byline or cut inside. In round one of the 2023-24 campaign, in which Irankunda's Adelaide recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over reigning champions Central Coast Mariners , he was clocked running at 37.02 km/h in his first senior league start. That would have been the fastest top speed reached in Irankunda's future home, the Bundesliga , in all of last season. Needless to say, he is lethal in transition.

Irankunda supplements this with excellent bodily awareness, a strong sense of balance, and an understanding of how to use his frame to his advantage. At times against the Mariners, it almost appeared as though the Reds were deploying their version of basketball's iso-ball tactics: Clearing out to give Irankunda a one-on-one matchup with a defender in space, where his power and speed could go to work.

- Lynch: The A-League's new generation of strikers

Out of possession, though, his positioning and defensive work-rate, though not something Irankunda is going to make his money on, will need work if he wants to break through at Bayern. So too, will his close control in crowded areas, which can let him down at times when confronted with the speed of the game at a senior level, as can his decision-making in the final third; when to pass and when to wind up his wonderous right foot. His primary use as an off-the-bench weapon when games are stretched, in combination with Adelaide's predilection for transition, means Irankunda will need to adjust to playing in a ball-dominant environment like Bayern's, who lead the Bundesliga with 62.2% possession.

Thus, there's also some level of maturing to do. His red card in round three of the against Melbourne Victory earlier this month, when his frustration bubbled over and he received a second yellow card for dissent, is a case in point. Early in 2022-23, Irankunda served a club-imposed suspension for a lack of professionalism, and failing to meet the off-field standards set for young players at the club. National team staff have also needed to work hard with him to keep him on track during junior international camps and tournaments. Opponents have developed something of a blueprint for getting under Irankunda's skin.

Though called into camp as a train-on player earlier this year, Socceroos coach Graham Arnold hasn't felt the need to rush him into the team ahead of schedule. At 17, there's a cognizance that there is plenty of time for Irankunda to make his mark along well-established pathways to the senior team -- as there will be at Bayern.

"I was away with him at the [Australian] under-17s in Thailand," Arnold told ESPN. "Pretty much I went there to watch the 17s, the Joeys, just to watch Nestor play and see where he's at.

"He's an outstanding talent. But there is also the under-20 national team, then the Olyroos [under-23 side] before the Socceroos.

"Going to Bayern would be a massive move but also a massive task for a young kid. He's 17 years old, he'd be going to a country where he wouldn't be able to understand the language. So he'll need a lot of support along the way. Sometimes, it's not just about rewarding a young kid straight away, sometimes he's got to go through the right pathways."

None of this from the national team boss should be surprising. Irankunda is only at the beginning of his career. While moving too quickly to Europe and disappearing into the churn of youth teams and loan moves is often decried as one of the great evils of young Australian players transferring abroad, in Irankunda's case it could prove one of its great blessings.

In Munich, coaches wouldn't care that he's been tapped as the next big thing in Australian football; they're employees of Bayern Munich, not Football Australia. He'd be one of dozens and dozens of talented kids at the Säbener Straße, and not even the first A-League Men player to make a move in the past few years: Sarpreet Singh , now with Hansa Rostock , moved to Munich in 2019, and Anthony Pavlešić made the jump from the Mariners academy to Bayern's reserve team earlier this year.

As he progresses through the system, the crushing weight of expectations in Australia will be still present but a world away. Maybe Irankunda will be with the senior team, following in the footsteps of former MLS and Canada prodigy Alphonso Davies , as some reports have suggested . But he could also start with the youth side and play in competitions such as the UEFA Youth League. And that's ok. Mathys Tel arrived in Bavaria after a €20 million transfer from Reims as a 17-year-old and has yet to make a league start in 2023-24. There's no rush. Managed expectations are good.

Irankunda is pure raw talent. With immense potential. But there's also where the caution lies. He's a diamond, but an uncut one. There is significant development to be done but given time and with work, he can be special.

Here's how to get Bayern Munich tickets if you're looking to get to Germany for a game at the Allianz Arena any time soon

Bayern Munich tickets: How to get Bayern tickets for the Allianz Arena: general view outside the stadium during the Bundesliga match between FC Bayern Muenchen and SC Paderborn 07 at Allianz Arena on February 22, 2020 in Munich, Germany.

Hospitality.

How to get Bayern Munich tickets is on the lips of any match-goer looking to see the serial German champions in the flesh – at one of the sport's most iconic and distinctive venues.

The Allianz Arena has been home to Bayern Munich since 2005, when Die Roten relocated from the old Olympic Stadium. Holding 75,024 and boasting a fervent ambience from the inside, the Allianz is in fact more famous for that exterior: the ground lights up in bright hues, usually of whoever is playing inside but sometimes with the Pride flag, messages or other patterns displayed over the Bavarian diamond-patterned structure.

Ranked at No.21 in FourFourTwo's Best Stadiums in the World list, it's a sight for your bucket list – and it just so helps that as tenants, Bayern usually put on quite the show there as Germany's primary exponents of liquid football. Whether you're looking to go for a game, a tour or just to get a photo from the outside, here's FFT's complete guide of how and where you can get tickets and visit FC Hollywood's suitably glitzy cathedral. It's simply one of the best football tickets in the world.

How to get Bayern Munich tickets for the Allianz Arena

“At least if you go for Munich for Bayern, you’re almost guaranteed a positive result; if you go for the beer, you’re unlikely to care too much either way. The Allianz is a beautiful football stadium though, generates a stunning buzz and though it’s a little out of the way, it’s well worth visiting. My dad lived in Munich for three years: his recommendation is to make sure you wrap up if you’re going in the winter (or do what he did and have a really hot curry before the game).”

Visiting the Allianz Arena and doing the Bayern Museum tour

If you know me, you know that I am a huge sports fan! Football above it all, but Tennis, Ice Hockey, Cycling, Athletics, you name it! Heck, even Gymnastics, Fencing, or Judo in the Olympic years! 🙂 In our last road trip through Bavaria, Austria , and the Czech Republic , we stopped for 2 days in Munich , so I had to squeeze a visit to the home of FC Bayern (and TSV 1860 – not anymore), the Allianz Arena.

Page Contents

Allianz Arena facts

This Arena is widely known for its exterior of inflated ETFE plastic panels; it was the first stadium in the world with a completely color-changing exterior! Each panel can be independently lit with white ( Germany ‘s National team), red (FC Bayern), or blue light (TSV).

Other colors, multicolored or interchanging lighting schemes are theoretically possible, but Munich Police strongly insists on uni-color only due to several car accidents…

Allianz Arena facts

Allianz Arena took three years to be built (2002 – 2005) and cost 340 Million Euros. The stadium hosted six 2006 World Cup games, including the opening gamatch Germany 4-3 Costa Rica ) and the semi-final between Portugal and France (0-1).

In 2012 Allianz Arena hosted the UEFA Champions League final between Bayern and Chelsea. Chelsea won in the penalties after a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes. And in 2020 hosted four games of the European Championship, and it will receive five more in 2024 European, including the opening match.

Originally Allianz Arena had a maximum capacity of 66 000 spectators. After the last remodelation, the capacity was increased to 75 000 in internal matches and 70 000 in international ones. Why the difference?

In international matches, all spectators have to have seated places, but German fans love to watch the game standing. So, some of the seats are removable. The stadium holds 9,800 parking places in four four-story car parks (the largest in Europe).

Allianz Arena Tour

Allianz Arena Tour

The tour takes about 60 minutes, and it costs 10 Euros. During the tour, you can visit places available during games, the middle tier (behind the goal), the main stand lower tier, and the promenade/stadium exterior. But also the interior and private places which you only see on TV, like the press conference area, players’ tunnel, mixed Zone/media area, and even dressing rooms.

How to do an Allianz Arena Tour

We really enjoyed our visit to the stadium and the tour. Although being relatively recent, it’s already iconic and considered one of the most beautiful in the world. In terms of architectonic beauty, it’s only second to Bird’s Nest in Beijing.

FC Bayern Munich Museum

Entering the Museum, I remembered that FC Bayern 2012/13 (coached by Jupp Heynckes) was the best football team I ever saw. Some people love Brazil 82, others Guardiola’s and Messi’s Barcelona, I was just amazed by how powerful this Bayern team was.

I loved remembering the excellence of their game and all the goals they scored. If you can’t recall this team, just think of the “Super Barcelona” being smashed 4-0 at Allianz Arena and then 0-3 in Camp Nou in the Champions League semi-final.

Naturally, all cups of this golden season are displayed with particular pride.

FC Bayern Munich Museum

The Museum is similar to other football teams’ museums, displaying the cups won, images, and videos of the most famous games/plays. I really liked the way it was presented, showing them organized by eras/dynasties or Bayern Teams. It really presents an homage to each team and champions the club had.

The museum also displays some old football artifacts, like the shoes, balls, and jerseys used in the old-time. Even individual trophies won by Bayern legends are displayed! These are very interesting to see for a fan, even if it isn’t an FC Bayern Munich one. I would recommend Bayern to make the museum more interactive as modern museums tend to be today.

how to visit Bayern Munich Museum

Ultimately, I loved the FC Bayern experience, although I would love to have attended a match. Shame! Even Claudia, who isn’t the biggest football fan, liked it! Therefore travel drafts definitely recommend this, but particularly for those who are into sports tourism!

How to go to the Allianz Arena?

The Allianz Arena is located outside the low emission zone in the north of Munich.

Visiting the Allianz Arena by Car

If you are traveling by car, the stadium has an enormous parking space, so you won’t have any problems finding a spot if it isn’t a matchday. There may be traffic on the highways around the stadium, so early travel is also recommended.

On a Matchday, things are entirely different, I would never suggest taking your car there. It’s chaotic. As per Allianz Arena’s official site, it takes up to two hours to empty the park.

Visiting the Allianz Arena using public transportation

Public transportation is the easiest and recommended way to visit the Allianz Arena, particularly on matchday.

To reach the Allianz Arena, you should take the S-Bahn from Munich Main Station or Munich East Station to Marienplatz, a central transfer hub. It should take about 16 minutes to reach Fröttmanning.

You can have a look at the official Allianz Arena site, where they explain thoroughly how to visit the Allianz Arena – by car, bus, metro, bicycle… matchday, non-matchday… It has every possible option.

Have you ever done Sports Tourism? What do you think about combining the two?

For me, it’s the best of two worlds! TRAVEL & SPORTS!! And if you want to include other sports museums on your trips, have a look at these 300+ Sports Museums & Sports Halls Of Fame (map included)!

Sharing is caring!

15 Fun and Unique Things to do in Byron Bay

1. hike the cape byron lighthouse walk.

Best Things to do in Byron Bay: Cape Byron Lighthouse Walk

Byron Bay town is located next to Cape Byron, a prominent, dramatic, and stunning headland that reaches out into the Pacific Ocean. At the eastern edge of the headland, the iconic Byron Bay Lighthouse stands guard over the cliffs, while close by, you can stand at the most easterly point in all of mainland Australia.

There’s no doubt, then, that Cape Byron is one of the top things to see in Byron Bay, and we know you’re going to love how almost all of the headland is protected as a nature reserve. The best way to experience this unique part of Byron Bay is to get out there on the walking trails, where you can soak up the views, the nature, and the northern New South Wales sunshine.

Unique Things to do in Byron Bay: Cape Byron Lighthouse Walk

The Cape Byron Lighthouse Walk (also known as the Cape Byron Walking Track or the Byron Bay Lighthouse Walk) is a 2.5-mile-long loop that takes you to the best lookouts and sights on the headland. You can join the trail at several points, but the most popular start point is the Captain Cook Lookout which is located on Lighthouse Road, just a short walk from the town itself.

Follow the paved walking trail from here, and you’ll soon reach Fisherman’s Lookout. Keep heading east, and you’ll pass Wategos Beach and Little Wategos. Keep going, and you’ll meet the most easterly point in Australia. The trail then continues south, where you’ll meet the “Easterly Point Lookout,” a lookout offering views of where you were just standing!

The circular trail then begins to turn west, and you’ll see the Cape Byron Lighthouse before finishing back at Captain Cook Lookout, where you started.

2. Join an Aboriginal-led walking tour of Byron Bay

Best Things to do in Byron Bay: Walking Tour

The Arakwal Bundjalung called this land home tens of thousands of years before Captain Cook sailed past Byron Bay in the late 18th century.

While colonialism marginalized and almost destroyed Aboriginal communities in New South Wales, their language, many of their traditions and beliefs, and their history live on in Byron Bay.

Cool Things to do in Byron Bay: Walking Tour

The best way to learn more about the Arakwal Bundjalung is to join a walking tour led by local members of the community.

You’ll explore the surrounding creeks, the cape, and the beaches, learning about bush food, Aboriginal history, beliefs, and so much more. This is one of the best things to do in Byron Bay, so make sure it’s at the top of your itinerary!

3. Take in the beach vibes at Main Beach

Fun Things to do in Byron Bay: Main Beach

Byron Bay is all about the beaches, and there’s no better place to start your vacation than a visit to Main Beach. Luckily, you don’t have to go far to reach the most popular Byron Bay sightseeing attraction because Main Beach is just a few minutes’ walk away from the town center.

Main Beach is your cliché Aussie beach. And by that, we mean it’s beautiful (if a little busy in peak season!). Imagine a long and wide stretch of white sand fronting the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. There are sunbathers and parasols on the beach, and in the water, swimmers and surfers are braving the waves.

Must do things in Byron Bay: Main Beach

The beach is bounded to the southeast by the green headland of Cape Byron and to the northwest by Belongil Beach, which is an equally stunning stretch of white sand. You can take a swim, spend the day lazing in the sun, or learn how to surf at Main Beach.

As the “main beach” in Byron Bay, Main Beach is patrolled by lifeguards and features public facilities like showers and toilets. You can even make use of the picnic areas to throw a proper Aussie barbecue in the sunshine!

4. Escape to Belongil Beach

What to do in Byron Bay: Belongil Beach

Main Beach isn’t the only beach in Byron Bay, and you’ll love how the surrounding coastline is studded with beautiful stretches of white sand that front the Pacific Ocean. One of the best beaches to escape to is Belongil Beach, which starts just past the seawall that marks the end of Main Beach.

Belongil Beach is every bit as stunning as Main Beach, but because it’s just that little bit further away from the town center, it’s always going to be that little bit quieter. Belongil Beach stretches for around a mile and a half northwest of Main Beach, ending at the mouth of the Belongil Creek as the creek meets the ocean.

You can enjoy all of your favorite beach activities at Belongil Beach, which is popular for swimming and surfing, as well as snorkeling. There’s a small wreck just off the coast, which adds to the swell. But be careful because lifeguards generally only patrol the southern part of the beach.

Belongil Beach is also home to many of Byron Bay’s best resorts and beachside bungalows, and this is one of the best places to stay if you’d love to be able to walk out of your hotel and straight into the ocean!

5. Soak up the sun and sand at Tallow Beach

Cool Things to do in Byron Bay: Tallow Beach

If you look south from your vantage point at Cape Byron, you’ll see a long stretch of golden sand unraveling for miles along the coast. This is Tallow Beach, and we have to say it’s one of the best Byron Bay attractions!

Tallow Beach is one of the best beaches in Byron Bay, and with several miles of soft sand to enjoy, there’s always a quiet spot to find, even in peak season. Tallow Beach is a great place for swimming and surfing. However, be careful because it’s not always patrolled by lifeguards like Main Beach is.

Byron Bay Things to do: Tallow Beach

If you’re visiting Tallow Beach in whale watching season (between May and October), then you may even be lucky enough to see a humpback passing along the coast. Why not bring your towel, a cool box full of drinks, and set up for the day on Tallow Beach to wait for the show?

6. Learn how to surf

Byron Bay Bucket List: Learn how to surf

If you’d love to learn how to surf, then Byron Bay is one of Australia’s most enduring surfing destinations. Byron Bay has been popular since surfing went mainstream here in the 1960s, and since then, the town has only gone from strength to strength in surfing circles.

That means that for beginners, there’s a heap of surf shops and surf schools ready to show you how to ride the waves and tackle the swells of the Pacific Ocean. Byron Bay has waves for almost all abilities, and so as you progress, you can start tackling larger and more challenging spots along the coast.

Fun Things to do in Byron Bay: Learn how to surf

Novice surfers can pick up tips just by watching the experienced pros in Byron Bay. Head to The Pass, a world-famous wave, to see the best surfers in action. You can hone your skills at Clarkes Beach or Tallow Beach, and we know you’re going to love the après surf scene in the pubs in town!

7. Go diving or snorkeling at Julian Rocks

Must do Things in Byron Bay: Diving, Snorkeling

Byron Bay is a dream for snorkelers and divers, with the Pacific Ocean being home to a bright and colorful array of marine environments that are just begging to be explored. One of the best marine sites to visit during your stay in Byron Bay is Julian Rocks, a protected nature reserve that’s located around 2 miles off the coast.

The Julian Rocks Nguthungulli Nature Reserve, as the protected marine area is officially called, is part of the wider Cape Byron Marine Park and offers you the opportunity to explore the underwater world surrounding two prominent rocks in the Pacific Ocean.

What to do in Byron Bay: Diving, Snorkeling

The rocks are a beacon for marine life, and as this is a no-take zone, the diversity of species found here is incredible. Whether you’re diving or snorkeling, you’ll see both micro and macro marine life, including tiny nudibranchs among the rocks and leopard sharks swimming among the coral.

Julian Rocks are well known for their large sea turtle population, too, which you may see either on the surface or feeding off the coral below. If you’re here in whale watching season (roughly May until October), you may be lucky enough to see humpbacks on the boat ride over from Byron Bay!

Book a Snorkel Tour in Julian Rocks

8. Go whale and dolphin watching in Byron Bay

Byron Bay Things to do: Whale and dolphin watching

If you’ve always dreamed of seeing whales or dolphins in the wild, then you’re in the right place, because Byron Bay is one of the best destinations in New South Wales to spot these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat! If you’re looking for activities to add to your Byron Bay bucket list, this is the perfect pick.

Byron Bay is well known for its humpback whale sightings, with large numbers of this enormous marine mammal migrating past the bay during the long whale watching season. Tens of thousands pass by the coast every year, with the first making their appearance in May and the last being spotted at the end of October. The largest numbers will be seen between June and September, when their migration is in full swing.

Must do things in Byron Bay: Whale and dolphin watching

You can sometimes spot the whales from Cape Byron if the visibility is good, as the humpbacks like to hang around the warm waters of this rich feeding ground. To maximize your opportunities, though, you should join a whale watching tour led by local marine biologist guides – they’ll know where to find the humpbacks!

Byron Bay is also home to a resident population of dolphins, who number in the hundreds. You’ll see them year-round, as well as many other species of whale that often pass through during the migratory season.

Book a Whale Watching Cruise

9. Walk the boardwalk at the Cumbebin Swamp Nature Reserve

With its location in northern New South Wales, it should come as no surprise to you that Byron Bay has a hot and humid tropical climate. This means that the area is home to an array of unique and natural wetlands, including the Cumbebin Swamp Nature Reserve.

This protected area is known for its rich biodiversity, and a visit to the swamp certainly makes a change from the beaches that Byron Bay is best known for. There are no white sands here, but you will find yourself immersed in the rainforest, surrounded by indigenous flora and fauna, and for a moment, transported back in time to see what Byron Bay would have looked like before Europeans arrived.

The swamp holds an important place in the history of the Arakwal community, and the indigenous community continues to help manage the area today. The wetlands were an important source of resources (including food) for the local communities – again before the Europeans arrived.

There’s a short boardwalk that leads you through the Cumbebin Swamp Nature Reserve, allowing you to explore this wetland without getting stuck in the mud! The swamp is located on the edge of Byron Bay, and it’s easily walkable from the town center or from nearby Belongil Beach.

10. Eat and drink at the Byron Farmer’s Market

Cool Things to do in Byron Bay: Farmer’s Market

Every Thursday morning, from 7 am until 11 am, the Byron Farmer’s Market sets up shop at the Butler Street Reserve. Get here early for the best bites and freshest produce, and stock up on quality goods for the rest of your stay in Byron Bay!

The Byron Famer’s Market brings a taste of the countryside to town, with a wonderful selection of stallholders bringing in unique, homemade products from across the local region. Each of the stallholders goes through a vigorous vetting process undertaken by the market’s committee, ensuring that there’s a plethora of different and high-quality products available to buyers.

Best Things to do in Byron Bay: Farmer’s Market

You’ll find avocados, blueberries, chilies, and mushrooms, all freshly picked in the nearby fields. You can order up a flat white from the coffee stall, then browse through stalls selling artisanal cheese, handmade pasta, and delectable tempeh. There are food trucks, oysters, dumplings, chorizo, sourdough, and gin for sale, and much, much more!

11. See the endangered ‘Littoral Rainforest’ of Broken Head Nature Reserve

What to do in Byron Bay: Broken Head Nature Reserve

You might think that Australia has rainforest in abundance, and while yes, some parts of the country are still covered in thick expanses of ancient rainforest, much more of this unique ecosystem has already been lost.

One specific type of rainforest that’s found itself endangered is an ecosystem known as the “Littoral Rainforest.” This type of rainforest is unusual in that it thrives in locations close to the ocean, resulting in an unusual array of flora and fauna specifically adapted for this extreme environment.

Must do Things in Byron Bay: Broken Head Nature Reserve

Unfortunately, this rainforest is in danger of extinction, but travel south from Byron Bay, and you can find a few rare hectares of Littoral Rainforest in the Broken Head Nature Reserve. Take a walk, take in the coastal scenes, and bask in the uniqueness of this rare habitat.

12. Go hiking in Mount Jerusalem National Park

Don’t forget the Hinterland when you visit Bryon Bay because some of the area’s best natural attractions are found in the inland national parks of northern New South Wales.

One of the best national parks to visit is Mount Jerusalem National Park, where you’ll have endless opportunities to escape the crowds even in peak season. You’ll find Mount Jerusalem National Park located less than an hour’s drive from Byron Bay, and it’s an excellent place for bushwalking and rainforest mountain biking.

There are several trails you can tackle, including Rayners Walking Track and the Gilwah Trail. You can walk or cycle along the bush tracks, with beautiful rainforest scenery and refreshing waterfalls to see on the way.

13. Be awed by the power of Minyon Falls

Fun Things to do in Byron Bay: Minyon Falls

On the eastern edge of Nightcap National Park, less than a one-hour drive from Byron Bay into the Hinterland, you can find one of the most impressive waterfalls in northern New South Wales. If you’re looking for natural attractions, a visit to Minyon Falls is a must on your Byron Bay bucket list!

In fact, we’d go as far as to say that Minyon Falls is one of the most impressive waterfalls in Australia, and you can’t visit Byron Bay without at least visiting the lookout. Minyon Falls plunge from a staggering height of 100 meters from tall cliffs into a deep gorge below.

The falls are at their most powerful at the end of the rainy season or at the start of the dry season, but all through the year, you’ll be awed by the rainforest scenery and dramatic, rocky surrounds.

The Minyon Falls Lookout offers the most expansive view of the waterfall and the gorge, but if you’re up for a hike, then you can follow the Minyon Falls Walking Track to the base. It’s not an easy hike, and at 8 miles long, the journey will take you around 4 hours there and back.

You’ll pass through dense rainforest along a steep walking track, but you’ll welcome a dip into the waterfall’s icy plunge pool when you reach the bottom of the gorge.

Book a Waterfalls Tour

14. Join the partygoers at one of Byron Bay’s festivals

Unique Things to do in Byron Bay: Comedy Festival

Byron Bay, with its creative atmosphere and chilled-out vibes, is one of Australia’s premier festival destinations.

The town’s most famous festival is the Byron Bay Bluesfest , which is held once a year over the long Easter weekend. The multi-day festival sees some of the world’s best jazz bands, as well as thousands of jazz fans descending upon the town.

Best Things to do in Byron Bay: Comedy Festival

About Bayern Munich Tickets 2023/24

Bayern Munich is a football club based in Munich, Bavaria in Germany. The team plays its home games at the Allianz Arena , which opened its doors in 2005. It's considered one of the most beautiful and well-designed stadiums in the world, with a luminous exterior and a capacity of 75,000 people, making it the second-biggest stadium in Germany behind Borussia Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park.

The iconic Allianz Arena is the first stadium in the world with a full colour changing exterior. It attracts a sell-out crowd for every home match, so Bayern tickets are often hard to come by. Prior to moving into the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich played their home games at the Munich Olympic Stadium.

Bayern Munich Info

The club was founded in 1900, by a group of 11 players led by the famous Franz John. Later it would become one of the most valuable football clubs in the world, with a $5 billion valuation. The club is owned by a private group called AG, in a co-joint stock with Bayern Munchen, which own many sports organisations around Munich.

The current president of the club is Herbert Hainer, who’s been in this position since 2019, succeeding Uli Hoeneß.

Bayern Munich is very popular worldwide. They boast more than 300,000 registered club members, which is the highest amongst all clubs worldwide.

Many superstars have worn the Bayern kit, including Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller, Oliver Kahn, Philipp Lahm, Mark van Bommel, Bastian Schweinsteiger and many more. Currently, the team success can be attributed to Thomas Müller, Harry Kane, Manuel Neuer, and many others.

Along the years there have been many great coaches that have taken Bayern Munich to greatness, including Pep Guardiola, Ottmar Hitzfeld and Udo Lattek. The current head coach is the Thomas Tuchel, who took charge in March 2023.

Sepp Maier holds the record of the number of league appearances for the club with 473, followed by Oliver Kahn at 429 and Gerd Müller at 427, who also holds the record of goals scored in the history of the league with 365.
