Simple Explanation: Pay yearly, always play the latest and great version of GSPro available!

This option is similar to the popular software as a service model often seen. You pay an annual fee, and as long as you continue to subscribe and pay, you always get to play the latest and greatest version of GSPro. If you cancel your subscription, you no longer have access to GSPro.

Simple Explanation: Add the Lifetime Add-On and continue using GSPro even if you cancel your subscription!

The lifetime add-on is an "upgrade" to your subscription. By adding the lifetime add-on, you have access to GSPro even if you cancel you subscription. The version that you have lifetime access to is the most recent version that your subscription granted you. This is an optional add-on that can be added to any active subscription at any time.

Simple Explanation: Buy together, get 'em both, save 50 bucks!

The bundle option includes both the subscription and lifetime add-on, at a discounted price. You will receive all GSPro updates until the subscription is cancelled. At that time, the lifetime add-on takes over. You can cancel your subscription at anytime.

Lifetime users who have cancelled their subscription - As long as you did not purchase before 11/1 (which would be impossible since we introduced it on 11/1/21), you will get GSPro v2 as no additional cost! Buy it for fun and use it as a training aid as a bonus, or vice versa.  The best easy-to-use, affordable camera for filming your swing.

Introduction

“Why in the world is PluggedInGolf, the world’s greatest golf website, reviewing the GoPro HERO+ Black Edition ?”

Fine question, dear reader.

The answer: because in addition to it being super fun, it’s a great tool for improving your swing.  Let me explain…

Ease of Use

I’ve had the chance to use a couple of “action cameras” that claimed to be easy to use, and they were anything but.  One even had the gall to claim that it was good for golf instruction.  Yes, if your students like watching you battle terrible connections and awful controls, it’s awesome.

The GoPro actually is easy to use.  There are two buttons on the camera itself and their functions are very intuitive.  Better still, you can hook up the GoPro to your smart phone or tablet via the free GoPro app and control it that way.  The connection is nearly real time, which allows you to set up your viewing angle perfectly.

It’s also worth noting that the variety of GoPro mounts makes using GoPro easier.  With most cameras, you’re required to bring a tripod.  That means one additional piece of gear to lug to the course and one additional excuse not to do it.  While you can use GoPro with a tripod, I prefer the Jaws Flex Clamp (shown above) which attaches easily to my bag and can be stored in the bag when I’m not using it.  Since it’s always in the bag, there’s no excuse to not use it.

Whether you are using this to teach or for personal improvement, the quick and easy set up is of major importance because it means you will actually use it, which means you will actually get better .

Now, if you don’t think I can hear you, you’re wrong.  “Matt, I can use my phone for video and that’s super easy.”  Stop it.  Stop it right now and read the next section.

Picture Quality

The video on your phone is TERRIBLE .  That’s right: bold, capitalized, underlined  TERRIBLE .  I don’t care what goofy line drawing app you downloaded, the video sucks and is worthless.  The frame rate is too low and the picture quality is miserable.  The only thing that video is doing is giving you stupid notions that you’re bending the shaft like you’re the Incredible Hulk…which you’re not.

The GoPro , on the other hand, shoots high def video at 120 frames per second (or non-HD at 240 fps).  That’s video that you can actually learn from, with beautiful clarity so that you can really see what you’re doing.

This is where GoPro separates itself from, well, every other camera.  With a wide variety of mounts and durable construction, the GoPro can go places and capture images that other cameras can’t.  Throw GoPro in the bunker.  Attach it to the cart to film your whole round.  Or, if you’re Hashtag Chad , you can put your GoPro on a drone and shoot pictures of Ryo Ishikawa’s golf swing.  The possibilities are nearly endless.

The GoPro HERO3+ Black that we reviewed currently retails for $399.  There is also the Silver Edition for $299 or the White Edition for $199.  Essentially, as you move up the ladder the camera gets smaller and more powerful (you can get all the specs at GoPro.com ).

All of the mounts retail for between $10 and $50, most being about $20.

The GoPro is an awesome video solution for average golfers and golf instructors that strikes a perfect balance between value and quality.  It delivers on the promise of being easy to use without compromising video quality.  Additionally, it allows golfers to take awesome action shots and videos of their golf, family, or any other interest they may have.

Dear Sir: I’m looking to purchase multiple GoPro units for my indoor golf driving range. Q: Can you link multipole GoPro units together to record the golf swing from say 3 different positions e.g.: from behind, , in-font and overhead. Is it possible to replay all three positions at the say time. Many thanks..

I’m not savvy enough with GoPros to know if this is possible, but my guess is that it is.

Here's a complete list of the LIV golfers playing in the 2024 Masters Tournament

The 2024 Masters Tournament will begin with the first round on Thursday, April 11. Nearly 90 golfers were invited to the annual event at Augusta National for 2024.

Invitee criteria changed between 2023 and 2024. This year, an NCAA Division I Men's Individual Champion earned a spot in the field (so long as he remains an amateur ahead of the tournament). Augusta National also accommodated the PGA Tour schedule changing to a calendar-year system by allowing winners of tour events last fall to qualify.

Despite growing its field of players, LIV Golf will have fewer participants in the 2024 Masters Tournament than in 2023 because the circuit doesn't award Official World Golf Ranking points.

In the end, 13 golfers from the LIV Golf circuit are set to compete in the Masters Tournament this year.

The final PGA Tour event before the 2024 Masters is on tap this week with the 2024 Valero Texas Open set to tee off on Thursday at the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio. The 2024 Texas Open field will be star studded, with several players making their final preparations for next week's major championship at Augusta National Golf Club. World No. 2 Rory McIlroy enters the tournament as the 15-2 betting favorite in the latest 2024 Valero Texas Open odds. Other top contenders on the PGA odds board include Ludvig Åberg (12-1), Hideki Matsuyama (18-1), Max Homa (18-1), Jordan Spieth (18-1), Collin Morikawa (20-1), Corey Conners (22-1), and Matt Fitzpatrick (25-1). The total 2024 Valero Texas Open purse is $9.2 million, with the winner's share coming in at $1.66 million. The winner of this event will also earn 500 FedEx Cup points.

The Result: Scheffler won the event by five strokes, and Zalatoris finished in fourth place.

His hot steak continued at the Players Championship, where McClure again recommended using Scheffler (if was still available) and Xander Schauffele. Both players were in contention until the end, with Scheffler coming out with the win and Schauffele finishing in second place. Then, at the Valspar Championship, McClure recommended using Cameron Young, who finished in second place, in OAD pools.

The 32-year-old PGA Tour veteran has gotten off a great start in 2024, notching an outright win at The Genesis Invitational followed by a 12th place finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and a sixth place finish at The Players Championship. SAN ANTONIO — The leader of the Valero Texas Open says he doesn’t have all the answers. He’s growing into them.

Akshay Bhatia is a one-time PGA TOUR winner and has been a professional since 2019, but the fact remains: He is only 22 years old. Someone that young might prefer to avoid embracing the stress of leading a tournament after 54 holes, especially with a four-stroke lead. But Bhatia seems to almost thrive on it.

He has certain ways of dealing with it all. For example, on Saturday morning, after he discussed with his sports psychologist the many possibilities, good and bad, that come with playing in the last group with a lead, Bhatia took a black marker and wrote the words “Race Your Race” on his left wrist. It was a reminder for the part of him that is still young and raw.

“I’m just going at my own pace, focusing on myself, keeping the blinders right in front of me,” he said. “I looked at it all the time.”

It seemed to work. Bhatia shot 4-under 68 on a rain-softened TPC San Antonio, growing his lead to four. He made two bogeys, six birdies and a lot of new fans. He said he never let his mind wander into dark places. He relied on the lessons his mental coach, Ryan Davis of the Center for Athletic Performance Enhancement, has been trying to embed. He kept his head up, his eyes straight ahead.

“I was never calm today,” Bhatia admitted, “and it was the hardest thing to deal with. It’s just so hard. You feel so tense, and all these things in your stomach, your mind can kind of go one way. I kept to my game plan.”

The winner of the 2023 Barracuda Championship, Bhatia has a story that many now know. He grew up in California and North Carolina. He skipped college. He wanted the dream of professional golf sooner than most. A lot of it has been hard: the travel, the emotions, the business, the grind, the belief, the faith. He’s growing and leaning into those complexities in ways his peers admire.

“We all battle,” said Brendon Todd, who played with Bhatia in the third round. “Golf is an emotional, stressful sport. That’s why we love it.”

Bhatia, Todd said, projects a quiet sense of duty — as if his acceptance of the difficulty of tournament golf strengthens him.

His conversations with Davis, by phone or on Zoom, help him find his way. He does so at his own pace. They talk about more than golf shots or winning tournaments, Bhatia said. They talk about the things a 22-year-old might not understand yet about performing under difficult conditions and learning to love that life choice regardless of whether he succeeds.

“I’ve never had an easy life growing up,” Bhatia said. “So anytime anyone sees, ‘Oh, this kid’s making a ton of money, he’s playing on the PGA TOUR, he’s won on the PGA TOUR, that’s just not it. There’s so much more to it than just golf.”

But the golf? This week, there’s been no one better at it than Bhatia.

He shot a 9-under 63 on a rugged, wind-scraped Oaks Course in round one. He followed that with a 2-under 70 to move his lead to five. After 54 holes, he ranks first in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green, second in Approach the Green, second in Putts per Green in Regulation and fifth in Strokes Gained: Around the Green. He looks untouchable. He knows he is not.

“I was talking to my psychologist last night,” Bhatia said. “Just all the stories that could happen. What if I lose this lead? What if this lead goes to 10? So many things are in your mind.”

By the end of a cooler, misty and slightly less windy Saturday afternoon in south Texas, the questions haven’t gone away. Bhatia wasn’t running from them. He was moving toward them. After his round, Bhatia spoke openly — almost enthusiastically — about the challenges he faces with one round to go. He said there was no use in pretending.

“I’m just true to myself,” he said. “I mean, I’d rather speak it to someone than not at all. I love sharing my story. I love being honest and whether I get hate for it or not, it doesn’t matter. It’s kind of who I am and who I try to be.”

2024 Texas Open leaderboard, grades: Akshay Bhatia nets second PGA Tour win, last Masters invite in playoff

T here was nothing stress-free about Akshay Bhatia's victory at the 2024 Texas Open despite how most of the week looked. Kickstarting his week with a 9-under 63 on Thursday, the lengthy left hander went wire-to-wire at TPC San Antonio for a playoff victory over Denny McCarthy at 20 under. By doing so, Bhatia became the third youngest winner to go wire-to-wire on the PGA Tour since 1983 behind Rory McIlroy at the 2011 U.S. Open and Jordan Spieth at the 2015 Masters.

Speaking of the Masters, Bhatia's victory marks his second in as many years, and it comes at a rather opportune time. Earning the final invitation into the 2024 Masters, the 22-year-old will drive down Magnolia Lane for the first time in his professional career and tee it up in only his second major championship. Bhatia's Masters debut comes a decade after qualifying and playing in the first-ever Drive, Chip and Putt competition at Augusta National.

Not only has Bhatia earned his chance to vie for the green jacket next week, he has solidified his playing privileges on the PGA Tour through the 2026 season. Bhatia will tee it up at the PGA Championship as well as the remaining signature events on the PGA Tour schedule.

"I just stuck to my game plan," Bhatia said. "I played great today. I kind of got the goal in mind today. Denny played unbelievable. You got to give him credit. It's hard because he's one of the best putters out here, and when you see him get hot, it's scary. I had a six-shot lead going into the back nine, and then all of sudden, we are tied going into 18 and then of course he makes that putt. Man, what a crazy crazy day."

Bhatia began the final round at TPC San Antonio in possession of a four-stroke lead -- tying Jake Knapp for the largest 54-hole margin this season. The lead grew to five with a birdie immediately out the gate and was pushed to half a dozen when Bhatia added his third birdie of the round on No. 4.

McCarthy attempted to apply some pressure on the front, but it proved ineffective as Bhatia went to the inward half with his six-stroke lead still intact. A punch finally landed on No. 10 when McCarthy connected from distance for his second birdie of the day and Bhatia failed to get up-and-down from long of the green cutting his lead to four. The drama ensued from there.

After making par on the 11th, McCarthy went unconscious and left Bhatia defenseless. Birdie after birdie came from the blade of McCarthy as he rattled off six in a row and within a blink of an eye, Bhatia's lead of six was cut to zero as the two men stood on the tee at the par-5 18th.

Both facing roughly 12-foot birdie bids, both connected and unleashed fist pumps after both players reached 20 under -- nine clear of McIlroy in third place. McCarthy's final putt in regulation was his 92nd of the week tying a PGA Tour record for fewest amounts of putts in a tournament while Bhatia's made waves for a completely different reason. 

Popping his shoulder out of his socket during his celebration, Bhatia called upon the services of his physiotherapist on the first playoff hole. With his ball in the fairway, Bhatia watched as McCarthy approached his third and chunked his wedge into the creek protecting the putting surface.

After getting his shoulder taped, Bhatia stepped to his and safely found the putting surface to all but secure his second PGA Tour victory and a trip to the Masters.

"This is awesome," Bhatia said. "It's hard to win out here as it showed today. My mom's birthday was on April 1, and her wish was to get in the Masters. I'm hoping I make her proud." Grade: A+

3. Rory McIlroy (-11): Oh boy, here we go again. It was an ideal last start for McIlroy ahead of the Masters as he fired a final-round 66 and got the big numbers out of his system. Adhering to the swing advice of Butch Harmon, McIlroy made a conscious effort to eliminate the quick, aggressive left miss and took a huge step in the right direction in terms of his iron play. He ranked third in strokes gained approach thanks to gaining nearly four with his scoring clubs on Sunday alone. Grade: A

"I definitely feel like I'm in a better place than I was a few weeks ago," McIlroy said. "Through the Florida swing, there was just a lot of volatility in my game, some good, some bad, quite a few big numbers, so just trying to tidy that up. For me, I'm always going to be able to hit good shots, it's just how bad the bad ones are, and this week the bad ones were still in play and no too bad, and I was able to scramble well enough when I did hit a few poor ones. Again, overall much more pleased with where my game is compared to two or three weeks ago."

T7. Hideki Matsuyama (-8): The 2021 Masters champion is red hot. Matsuyama's last four starts now read: Win, T12, T6, T7. He was once again brilliant from tee to green -- ranking inside the top 20 in each metric -- but did not get as much as he would have liked out of the putter ranking first on the PGA Tour in strokes gained around the green and with his ball striking in tow, Matsuyama has to be on the short list of players who can win next week.  Grade: A-

T10. Jordan Spieth (-6): This week featured just about everything from Spieth -- a hole-in-one, a gutter ball, plenty of birdies and plenty of mistakes. It all added up to a 6-under total for his first top-10 finish since the WM Phoenix Open and put an end to a mini dip in form. Spieth was insistent that his game was close on Thursday, and he flashed glimpses of what may be to come at Augusta National. He's driving the ball great (ranked fourth in strokes gained off tee), and his iron play was much sharper. Surprisingly, his short game has been rather meh in his last three starts, but that should change sooner rather than later. Grade: B

T24. Max Homa (-4): After opening with a 3-under 69, Homa got stuck in the mud and played his next 54 holes in only 1 under. He came into this week needing to answer questions around his driver and he did just that with a couple really solid rounds from off the tee. His iron play is in a comfy spot, and it will need to continue to be if he expects to contend at the Masters for the first time in his career. Grade: C+

T75. Collin Morikawa (+5): Is it time to press the panic button on Morikawa? The two-time major champion made the cut on the number and wasn't able to do much with the opportunity finishing near the bottom of the weekend pack. Morikawa has now lost strokes on approach in three straight tournaments and hasn't clocked a top-five finish since the first week of the year at The Sentry. Without his iron play, Morikawa looks very (very) average. Grade: D
