This trip was for my 80th birthday. The tour director and specialists gave us insights you wouldn’t get going alone especially the Normandy optional tour. There was enough free time to go off on your own. I discovered profiteroles are my new favorite dessert.

Overall the experience with this tour was lovely. It could be a little more organized but we still enjoyed our tour. The tour guides were great and helpful.

Paris and London Tour

Paris and London

We had a fantastic adventure! It was our first time going to Paris and London. The tour provided an excellent first experience in these cities. Europamundo was a great value. We were met at the airport and had a convenient transport to our hotel. All of the tour buses and hotels were nice. Our guide Emma was excellent, very knowledgeable and friendly, provided us with excellent suggestions on how to spend our free time. We were not able to do all of the planned events but this was not the tour company's fault. Such as, we were unable to go into the Louvre because the workers were on strike. We did not see WWIi bunker, I think this was because of time restraints getting to the ferry. Thank you Europamundo and Tourradar!

The Treasures of France including Normandy (8 Days) Tour

The Treasures of France including Normandy (8 Days)

Very well organized. Very knowledgeable guide who went out of his way to make this a truly memorable experience. I especially liked his readings of "The Little Prince" on some of the longer bus rides. Be prepared to climb lots of stairs or sit out some of the more challenging sites. The hotels were all good to excellent and food was delicious.

Highly recommend! The guides were amazing. Accommodations/meals/experiences were all wonderful. It is a fast-paced tour, and we are always on the move (granted, often from the stress-free convenience of the luxury bus). I might not recommend this tour if you want long, relaxed visits to each town/location. Once or twice I wished we had more time to stroll through a garden, browse the shops, or sit by the beach. However, if your goal is to make the most of each day and see a wonderful tour of some of France's most extraordinary locations, then this is the tour for you!

Reviews of Paris Tours

Let me begin with my hotel, the André Latin. In the 5th, full of early morning student energy rushing to classes. Chambermaid service every day. A great spread of breakfast included. The 17th century church of Saint Jacques close by. Public Transport on the hotel avenue and a short distance from Luxembourg for Metro and other buses. Although I missed the meeting for the Eiffel Tower, a Guide was sent to meet me and provide me with my entrance ticket. Bus ride through the City was exciting and the trip to Versailles amazing. Before departure all my questions were answered. Recommend the company wholeheartedly.
Everything about this tour was excellent. The planned trips, the optional trips, the airport transfers, the guides were all top notch. We packed a lot into a week yet, had enough free time. Everything was well planned and kept to schedule. Bruno, our tour guide was charming and informative and kept us on track. Marco our coach drive was a safe and skilled driver. The specialist guides for certain excursions were topnotch. Bruno coordinated all the guides, driver, and venue hosts with efficiency. It was a trip of my dreams for my granddaughter and myself!

One of France’s most famous recipes, Coq au Vin features wine-braised chicken served alongside ingredients like mushrooms and bacon. Across the country you will try many regional versions of this comforting dish, which translates fittingly to “rooster/cock with wine”.

While in Paris you will have the choice between two activities. First, you can choose to visit the awe-inspiring Sacré-Coeur Basilica, the second highest point of the city after the Eiffel Tower, and enjoy free time to explore the area. Or, you can choose to Learn about the neighborhood’s famous artists and writers at the Musée de Montmartre, a historic 17th century house that gives you a glimpse into the artistic side of town

Prolong your stay in the French capital with a 2-night hosted post extension. Step back in time during a locally guided walking tour centered on the French Revolution, enjoy a full day at leisure to explore Paris as you please, indulge in the local cuisine during an included dinner at a local Brasserie and slide into the backseat of a vintage retro car to cruise along chic boulevards peering up at the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe from the car’s open roof.

  • Paris - Extension Begins
  • This morning, step back in time during a walking tour centered on the French Revolution. Your expert guide evokes the shadows of Marie Antoinette and Robespierre as you journey back to the tumultuous years of 1789-1799. Visit landmarks such as Place de la Bastille (where the infamous prison once stood) and Place de la Concorde where the revolutionary government erected a guillotine in the square (and where King Louis XVI was executed on 21 January 1793). The afternoon is yours to explore more of the French capital independently. Perhaps you’ll stroll through the Beaubourg neighborhood and take in the whimsical moving fountain of the Centre Pompidou for Contemporary Art. Dedicated to the former French President Georges Pompidou, this building represents the first major example of 'inside-out' architecture with its structural, mechanical and circulation systems exposed on the exterior of the building. Today this eclectic building synthetizes the blend of tradition and innovation that distinguishes Paris.
  • The day is yours to explore more of the French capital on your own. Perhaps you’ll wander over to the Left Bank of the Seine River and plunge into the bohemian atmosphere of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood and the Latin Quarter. Or visit one of the city’s iconic museums, such as the highly acclaimed Musée D’Orsay. The former railroad station now houses some of the world’s best impressionist art. This evening, celebrate the end of your extended stay in Paris with dinner in a local brasserie* before sliding into the backseat of a vintage retro car, cruising through the chic boulevards and peering up at the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe from the car’s open roof.
  • Paris - Depart for Home
  • Wish France adieu as you return home.

Live the Parisian life in style as you join your Tour Manager on a captivating excursion to the Opera District. Take advantage of an immersive experience with Parisian luxury and peruse famous name brand stores to embrace the glam of haute couture fashion. Pass by the stunning opera house of Palais Garnier before getting a glimpse into the history of perfume making at Fragonard Museum. Indulge your senses and scan the ancient artisan bottles, learning about the art of creating the perfect scent. A specialist will help you choose your own cologne, providing an irreplaceable souvenir from your Parisian getaway. Continue on to the famous Galeries Lafayette – a well-known French department store that features a mesmerizing stained glass dome. You might even be able to get a closer look at the dome on the glass skywalk, which reaches out directly below the center of the dome. Cap off the adventure with a trip to the rooftop to admire the city from above. With a drink in hand, marvel at the breathtaking views of the Opera House & Eiffel tower. Enjoy free time to explore the neighborhood and shop before heading back to the hotel by metro.

Join us for a spectacular evening in one of Paris’s most beloved institutions, the famous Paradis Latin. Situated in a building associated with Napoleon and rebuilt by Gustav Eiffel himself, the Paradis has been running here since 1889. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner with wine, then bring on the champagne and let the show commence!

Take a walk down to the Ile de la Cité to snap a picture of the façade of the awe-inspiring Notre Dame.

The Best Tips for the Louvre Museum

Not ready to book a tour? Find out if a tour of the Louvre is worth it .

“We protest against the erection of this useless and monstrous Eiffel Tower” was actually written in reaction to France’s most iconic monument in 1894. People were actually outraged by how ugly it was. Today, this 1,063-foot iron lattice tower still stands and attracts 7,000,000 visitors each year.

The long lines can be intimidating, and a visit is considered an all-day event. However, with our wide range of privileged access tours, Seine cruises, and family tours, we are sure to have something that fits your needs. There are two types of tourists! Those who stand in line and those who don’t. Which do you want to be?

1. Privileged Access Eiffel Tour at Night Tour with River Seine Cruise

People posing at the top of the Eiffel tower at night

Our Privileged Access Eiffel Tower Night Tour is a romantic evening without the lines. The tour starts at dusk with a boat ride on the Seine.

As the sun descends, the Eiffel Tower lights up and sparkles. Enjoy this magnificent sight with a glass of champagne and then climb the tower and witness amazing views of the city lit up at night.

2. Eiffel Tower Climbing Tour with Summit Access

Woman in front of the Eiffel tower during the day

Looking for a budget-friendly tour of the Eiffel Tower summit that’s ideal for active people? This guided climb of France’s most famous landmark gives you the chance to live that dream. You’ll climb the 674 steps to the tower’s second floor as your local guide tells you the story of its remarkable construction and troubled early history before taking the elevator to the summit for a well-earned rest and a truly remarkable view of Paris. Enjoy!

The Catacombs are a labyrinth that can only be seen a few months of the year, which is why lines to get in can be up to 5 hours long. Although the Catacombs are hundreds of miles long, only one mile is open to the public. Tickets sell out months in advance, but our tours come with skip-the-line access and privileged access to a number of chambers usually closed to the public.

1. Paris Catacombs Tour with Secret Rooms & Privileged Access

If you’re looking for amazing food, Paris is one of the best places to visit. There are more Michelin restaurants in this city than in any other city on Earth, and a local food tour is a fantastic way to experience Paris’ local food scene.

1. Le Marais Local Food Tour (Incredible Deal!)

Paris Food Tour Cheese Plate

Le Marais is the nerve center of gastronomical delights, which is why our Le Marais food tour is one of our most popular experiences. It’s also one of the only food tours in Paris to include oysters and a sit-down dinner! Enjoy a walking tour of the melting pot that is Le Marais, Normandy oysters and champagne, and falafel street food in the Jewish Quarter.

2. Chef Led Food Tour of Paris’ Montmartre District

People cheering with wine

Craving a genuine French culinary experience but don’t have the connections to call in a favor? That’s why we’ve joined forces with Chef PJ and his team of gastronomic experts, so you can join them in tasting Montmartre’s finest delicacies, indulge in a three-course feast with a wine pairing, and learn about iconic sites like the Moulin Rouge and the “I Love You” wall along the way

The Best Private Tours of Musée d’Orsay

When people think of Paris, they tend to think of the Louvre and Eiffel Tower, and for good reason. Both attractions are epic! That said, the Musée d’Orsay would be the number one museum in almost any other city on Earth if it wasn’t in Paris.

1. Private Musée d’Orsay Tour with Skip-the-Line Tickets

tours guides paris

While taking a private tour of any museum is a luxury, a private tour of Musée d’Orsay is even more amazing. Why? The museum doesn’t get the same crowds as the Louvre, and the paintings demand an explanation. They are all very beautiful and recognizable, but Impressionism is best explained through a lens into the artist’s life—something that a local tour guide does best in an intimate experience like a private tour. See the tour itinerary, price, and description.

1. Castles and Wine Tastings in the Loire Valley Day Trip

tours guides paris

One of my favorite things to do in Europe is explore the countryside. This is because the architecture is amazing, and the agriculture is heavily focused on wine, which together makes for a beautiful experience. I also love having countryside lunches. They tend to be hearty, warm, and full of wine!

The Loire Valley is famous for castles and amazing dry white wines.

Our day trip to the Loire Valley not only explores an amazing castle but also includes a stop at a vineyard for a wine tasting. It will make for an incredible memory you will hold dear for the rest of your days!

2. Pay Tribute To D-Day at Normandy Beach

omaha beach les braves

From “Saving Private Ryan” to stories from our ancestors, Normandy is famous for the great sacrifices of brave men in the face of tyranny. Today, you can visit different beaches from Omaha to Pointe du Hoc to pay respects. The beaches of Normandy, where World War II was viciously fought, have been kept as it was, down to bullet holes, craters, and cannon shells.

Our Normandy day trip of D-Day landing beaches visits Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, Pointe du Hoc, and even a Cider brewery—the region’s specialty. This day trip is most definitely long—14 hours in total—but if you have an extra day and are passionate about WWII, it’s well worth the time.

3. Explore the Champagne Region on a Day Trip

tours guides paris

Should you be looking for a day trip to remember—and you’re a fan of champagne—then a trip to the Champagne region is a must. The French countryside is waiting to take you on a culinary journey from wine cellars to champagne houses and a tasty spot for lunch.

This tour includes stops in the cities of Reims and Épernay, where you can see the famous Reims cathedral and explore Dom Perignon’s final resting place in the Benedictine monastery in Épernay. Your day in the countryside will be unforgettable.

Is it worth it to get a tour guide, though?

' src=

November 8, 2022

We might be biased, but it really is. You can either wander these amazing locations or monuments and not really know what’s so significant (or that you just passed the first painting by a world-famous painter), or you can learn so many incredible details and stories about these places and art. Tour guides truly do elevate your experience and make it more memorable.

Hello Brie, yeah, that makes sense. I also hate getting lost 😀 I have been looking around on your tours, and it seems that they are not customizable? Something like this https://gowithguide.com/france/paris

December 28, 2022

Our private tours can be customized within the museum or locations it already includes. So for instance, if you want more time in the Greek sculptures than in a room of impressionism, just let your guide know.

What other guests say about our tours and locals

History, interests & sweet goods!

"I often use this app for tours around the world, Louis is a super knowledgeable dude, from a very specific community here in France. This would be one of the best. Super interesting to hear his views on the current political climate in France as well as the very intense history of the revolution. Not to mention Louis's family connections to history. It's a long walk but super varied with interesting stops, stores, candy/baked goods and even a spice store. I would definitely recommend if history is your thing, not to mention candid open opinions and stories. "

local Louis

Perfect way to start a trip!

"My husband and I booked the food tour with Gelsomina for our first morning in Paris, as a way to orient ourselves to the city. After all, food is a key component of our travel experience. When Gelsomina learned that we were first-timers to Paris, she suggested some itinerary changes that would enable her to introduce us to some of the sights and history of the city as well. It was the perfect way to start our exploration of Paris. Gelsomina was a lovely and gracious host, taking care to share some of her favorite spots with us, as well as recommendations for the rest of our trip. We ate delicious food, while learning about the city and Parisan life in general. It felt like we had a family friend showing us around. Delightful! I would highly recommend the experience. "

local Gelsomina

Excellent morning in Paris

"Clement was an excellent host for our driving tour of Paris in his classic 2CV… well worth the experience. Picked up from the hotel; saw the Tour d’eiffel from a different angle and got plenty of shots with the little yellow car! Great day. Thanks Clem. "

local Clément

very personal, great information

"Olivia was a wonderful tour guide. She was prompt and efficient but knew all the history of the area we toured. We got to eat some great local food made by some of the best bakers and chefs in the area. In addition she gave us great information and history on the area. I’m an artist, and she tailored it to include, some really unique information about Artist from France. I would highly recommend this tour. We were for adults and we loved every minute of it. "

local Olivia

Fantastic Food Tasting with Ankool

"I recommend the food tasting with locals and Ankool specifically. We met in the Square Trousseau and the food tastings were all nearby. We began with pasties and coffee at Ble Sucre. Fantastic. We went to a local market, Marche d'Aligre, and had a cheese selection and bread (yum!). If we were staying for any time in a flat, we would visit the marche a lot. We strolled to Au Merveilleux for more cake (very light and sweet) and then a bar called Parisii for some wine and charcuterie. All the time, Ankool was telling us about the neighborhood, history, and food. We wrapped up by having some crepes and then going to Le Baron Rouge for some wine, and what a fantastic wine bar that is: packed out the door, oysters, lots of wine selection, enthralling. Ankool was very personable and informative. This was a fantastic tour and I would do it again. "

local Anukool

Incredible experience!!

"First timer to Paris and had a day to explore before business. I booked the 5-hour custom tour and chose Anna based on previous reviews. I had no major focus, other than historical and art as a focus. Anna didn’t disappoint. She met me at my hotel and she shared the itinerary and off we went. I can’t believe how much of the city we covered and how much I learned in this but more than that, Anna made the whole experience feel like I was walking the city with a good friend. I have never experienced a tour of this quality and would highly suggest Anna for any tour. I have sat and thought of the question Anna asked me before we parted of what I may have found the best part, or best area I saw. I couldn’t really explain it then and not sure I can now, but I have never felt more satisfied with a purchase than this tour. I learned not only of those landmarks on the map but the history of the times, and the Parisian view of today. It was cultural and community and just an incredible experience. "

local Anna

Anna is great!

"Anna was a wonderful guide. She explained so many things about the paintings and sculptures that we saw. Her knowledge and enthusiasm made for a wonderful tour. I wish I had more time."

THE BEST TOUR + GUIDE EVER

"Words honestly won’t do justice when explaining just how much fun we had with Anukool. Not only was he so informative, with an unlimited bank of interesting facts: he became our friend for the afternoon. There were so many delicious tastings- he really knows the best food spots- ones you can’t typically find unless with a foodie expert. Definitely value for money too. I would highly recommend Anukool for your food tour of Paris- he’s an interesting person, along with being so flexible and accommodating. We did a lot in Paris but our food tour around Saint Germain was surely the highlight of our Paris trip. Thank you, Anukool! "

guest amyeleanorratcliffe

Unforgettable experience

"I had such a great time exploring street of Paris with Izabele. From the moment we met, I immediately felt like I met an easy going fun friend, who knows Paris in and out and excited to share it with me. We walked a lot, saw many amazing hidden gems of Paris, we laughed, we shopped, it was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend to book this tour with Izabele. "

local Giedre Izabele

The highlight of our trip

"We had an amazing experience with Hugo. His knowledge and passion for the works of art and the building itself gave us such an incredible gateway into the Louvre. With such an enormous collection it can be overwhelming but Hugo focused on what we asked him to select as his highlights. He guided us through the museum and with an excellent sense of narrative gave us a tour we will not soon forget. Every member of my family said Hugo's tour was a highlight of our week long visit in Paris."

The best part? These tours are all about you. No herding in big groups or rushing through places you're not interested in. With private tours, you're the boss. Whether it's snapping pics at iconic landmarks, diving into history, or checking out the art scene, the tour is tuned to your vibes at your tempo.

But it doesn't stop at city limits. Day trips let you escape the urban jungle and explore nearby wonders. And if you're just setting foot in Paris, kickstart tours give you a taste of everything. Think of it as a crash course in Paris awesomeness, guided by a local who knows the city like the back of their hand.

So, next time you're in Paris, ditch the ordinary. Grab a local tour and unlock the city's real magic – the stories, flavors, and places that make it uniquely Paris. Get ready to explore like a local!

Private Tours of Paris Reviews

1. paris in a day: montmartre, eiffel tower, seine river cruise & louvre.

  • Departure:  Anvers, 75018 Paris
  • Duration: 9 hours
  • Departure Time: 9:00 AM
  • Includes:  Skip the Line Eiffel Tower tickets (non-guided), licensed English-speaking guide, small groups (maximum of 15), Skip the Line Louvre tickets, 1 hour Seine River Cruise (flexible ticket), Montmartre guided neighborhood walk, food & drinks
  • Other: Convenient way to see big attractions located all across the city

This is one of the most popular Paris city tours out there, as it covers some of the biggest attractions in the city. Not only that, but it allows you to see them in the most convenient way possible: without having to wait in lines and having your own personal tour guide to teach you about everything!

At 9 hours long, the Paris in a Day: Montmartre, Eiffel Tower, Seine River Cruise & Louvre tour is not one to miss!

Start out with the rest of your small group and guide at Montmartre hill. You’ll all meet here, and as the groups are never more than 15 people, it’s much easier to see more places. Take the funicular to Sacre-Coeur Basilica, which is incredibly stunning – both inside and out!

From here, you’ll see some of the most impressive views of this sprawling city! The winding streets surrounding it are quite fascinating in themselves, so you’ll make a few stops along the way. First, at a local vineyard, artist hot-spot Place du Tertre, and a reconstructed windmill!

Next, head to Ile de la Cite, or Island on the Seine , is literally an island in the middle of the river in the city center. It once served as a fortress in the 4 th century, but also was inhabited by the Parisii , which is where the city gets its name!

Notre Dame towers over the island, and while it’s not currently open to the public, it’s also quite a sight to see.

Next up is the legendary Louvre! This museum is absolutely massive, and really impossible to see everything in just a day. However, you will be able to see some of the most famous works, including da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.

After taking a brief subway ride to Le Trocadero, you and your group will be standing in front of the iconic Eiffel Tower from Trocadero Plaza. This is one of the best viewpoints of the tower, as it’s far and high enough to admire it in its entirety and oftentimes doesn’t have many crowds.

Your guide will also provide you with a skip-the-line ticket to head up to the second floor of the tower, along with a 1-hour Seine River cruise perfect for watching the sun set!

After being picked up from you hotel, you will start your journey of this beautiful city. if yppu go with the recommended tour, your first stop is at the iconic Eiffel Tower. You’ll have plenty of time to stop and awe and take some photos while your guide tells you all about how it came to be.

You’ll continue cruising to see the Ecole Militaire, or the “Military School” complex which was originally founded in the 1700’s by King Louis XV. Currently, it’s used for a variety of military training and has quite a complex history that your guide will fill you in on.

You can’t miss Champs-Elysees which is probably the most famous ave in the world that ends with the Arc de Triomphe.

Ride over Pont Alexandre III, which is without a doubt one of the most beautiful bridges in the world. Check out both the Grand Palais and Petit Palais, where you’ll learn about its rich art history.

Keep in mind you can completely customize your tour!

Something that can be a turn-off for many people when it comes to tours, is the lack of ability to customize them. Well, that’s not the case here, with the Paris Your Perfect Day in the City Custom Private Tour !

You can add in sights from the most popular attractions to hidden gems to make this experience personalized just for you!

Ranging from a tour of 3.5 hours to 7 hours, it’s also a great way to be able to fit in with the rest of your schedule. Not to mention, hotel pickup and drop-off is also offered, so you never have to worry about transportation!

Starting out early in the morning, you’ll meet your guide at your hotel and finalize the plan for the day before heading out!

You can make specific requests to your guide, and they will make it possible while telling you anecdotes and taking you the “local” way through the city. If you prefer, you can also let them just pick the attractions and hidden wonders, which is also a great option if you don’t have any specific ideas.

These guides know the city incredibly well as they are locals and have a lot of knowledge about the history. You can tell just how much they know, as they do not have a script.

It genuinely feels like a Parisian friend is just taking you to the best spots they know, while telling you all about the history and how they relate to today’s current times.

This means also, that when you’re hungry, you can ask the guide to stop where they’ll make recommendations to the best dining spots around. Or perhaps you’d just like to stop for some of the best coffee in Paris. Again, whatever suits you best!

Introduced at the 1948 Paris Mondial de l’Automobile, the 2CV is a classically “Parisian” vehicle is an absolute legend. For this tour, you’re going to enjoy a private tour in the Citroen Deux Chevaux, which is perfect for weaving in-and-out of traffic and a fantastic way to see the city!

We loved the insider tips the driver provides, which makes it more fun to go check different places later on. The driver guide is super friendly and knowledgeable, so if you have any questions feel free to ask them.

You’ll make a stop for a sweet little dessert (various options available, but the éclair is our recommendation!), along with a hot beverage at the famous Laduree tea room. It’s been around for over a hundred years, and has been a pastry shop since 1871, thanks to Baron Haussmann!

After you fuel up, you’ll meet your guide outside to continue seeing the sights. You’ll drive by Place Vendome and the gorgeous Luxembourg Gardens.

4. Highlights & Hidden Gems With Locals: Best of Paris Private Tour

  • Departure: Café La Colonnade, 154 Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris
  • Includes:  Private tour, tour guide, 1 local drink/tasting, transportation
  • Other: Compact tour packs a lot into a short amount of time. Great way to see city from a “local’s” perspective

Are you looking for a tour that’s a bit shorter but still covers a lot of Paris’ best? This walking tour is just that, but lets you experience the city like a local.

On the Highlights & Hidden Gems with Locals: Best of Paris Private Tour , you’ll get to see some of the biggest landmarks, while visiting some secret spots that most non-Parisians don’t get to see.

You and the rest of your group will meet your guide at a central location and start off by walking to the Musee du Louvre and Palais Royale. The Louvre is more than iconic, with some of the world’s most famous pieces of art.

However, the building itself also has a long and eventful history that your guide will tell you all about. The Jardin du Palais Royal used to be the residence of King Louis XIV, and is still decked out in enormous sculptures.

We hope you’ve worked up an appetite with all that walking, because you’ll then be doing some delicious bread-tasting! We all know that French baguettes are delicious, but they taste even better freshly-made in an early 20 th -century wooden oven!

Galerie Vivienne is a stunning passage, along with the Passage Choiseul. The covered passages date to the early 1800’s, and house the Theatre des Bouffes-Parisiens.

Next, check out the Palais Garnier, charmingly-dubbed the “Baroque Wedding Cake”. After seeing the architecture in person, you’ll clearly see why it’s earned this nickname.

Next, stop at Galeries Lafayette, which one of the city’s most popular department stores. The goal is the rooftop, however, where you’ll take in some breathtaking views of the European capital.

After, stop at La Madeleine Greek temple and then Place de La Concorde. Here, you’ll get to see the notorious Obelisk and the dark history behind this square.

Next, hear about how the Grand Palais and Petit Palais’ various exhibitions and histories as well. One of the highlights is crossing Pont Alexandre III stunning guilded bridge, and take in views of the Eiffel Tower and cross Pont de L’Alma.

5. Paris City Tour with Private Friendly Guide and all Must-See Sites

  • Departure: Hotel pick up in Paris
  • Duration: 5 hours
  • Includes:  All taxes, customizable itinerary, main Paris must-see sites in just 5 hours, local guide, private walking tour
  • Other: Private tour allows you to see iconic attractions at your own pace, with less crowds

The Paris City Tour with Private Friendly Guide and all Must-See Sites is that tour that just covers everything. It’s neither too long nor too short, and you really get to see a ton of hot spots around the city. This is a tour that you can go on and know that you aren’t going to feel like you missed out on anything.

With hotel pickup and drop-off included, you just have to worry about bringing a sense of adventure and perhaps a pair of good walking shoes! With a customizable itinerary, you get to see the main sites but also have a say in the places you go.

You’ll start around 10 am, heading off to Trocadero first. This square has one of the most gorgeous observation decks in the world, and you’re sure to take some incredible photos here. Walk through the park and get up close to the tower.

Underneath the tower is pretty intricate and industrial, offering insight to how robust the structure is. Next, take a break and grab a bite to eat while taking in some further views of the tower. After you’ve recharged, you will stop by Napoleon’s tomb, and then the Beaux-Arts-style, Grand Palais.

Continue on your excursion along the enormous avenue, Champs-Elysees. The avenue alone has quite the history, and along it sit 2 important plazas: Place de la Concorde and Place d’Etoile. Not to mention, the important Arc de Triomphe, which sits over/in the middle of it! It’s much bigger than we expected!

You’ll stop at each place for some photo ops, while your guide tells you the history behind them. Next, head over to Jardin des Tuileries, where various famous artworks make their home. However, the garden also has quite the history, being landscaped in the 1500’s by Catherine de’Medici!

We can’t forget seeing Notre Dame’s infamously intricate architecture, complete with the gargoyles and chimeras! Even though right now it’s closed to the public, just seeing the exterior really is something else.

Head over to Square Jean XXIII for a delicious French lunch in a charming café, where you can watch over the South Rose Window and other parts of Notre Dame cathedral.

7. Tuktuk in Paris © Private City Tour

  • Departure:  Hotel pick up in Paris / Add the name of the hotel or the address and the desired time (10AM to 6PM)
  • Duration:  1 to 8 hours

Remember what we said about seeing Paris in a unique way? Well, here’s another one! The Tuktuk in Paris Private City Tour is another customizable tour where you get to see exactly what you want to, along with the option of adding on recommended places by your experienced guides!

Lasting anywhere from 1 to 8 hours, you can seamlessly fit it into your day along with any other plans you may have! The electric tuk-tuks that you’ll be taking are convenient and one of the most efficient ways to cruise through the city.

Holding up to 6 passengers, you can also rent multiple tuk-tuks if you have a bigger group. First, you’ll head to the Eiffel Tower! Along the way, your friendly guide will tell you tips and fun facts about the city. We found them to be careful yet skilled drivers who could maneuver the streets with ease.

Once you get to the tower, they will stop and let you get out for more than enough time for photos and a little history lesson. You’ll also make a stop at Le Trocadero for more photo ops from a different perspective.

Pass by the majestic Arc de Triomphe on Champs-Elysees, which is quite the excursion in itself! If you’d like, you can make a stop here as well for some photos. It’s all up to you and the rest of your group!

Further on, you’ll get to see the Place de la Concorde, which has been quite significant throughout European history. The Louvre Museum spans various blocks, but you’ll have plenty of time to learn all about it and for photo ops. Notre-Dame, Palais Garnier, Montmartre, and Sacre-Coeur of Montmartre are also on the agenda!

Paris Travel Guide

In TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards 2019, Paris was ranked as the #2 Top Destination in the World. This is no surprise for a city famous for its food, art, and architecture.

Whether you’re looking for gourmet meals, a romantic getaway, a place to immerse yourself in fine art, or a family vacation, France’s capital city is a great destination for you.

Airports & Entry

The two best ways to travel to Paris are by air and by train.

Paris boasts 3 busy international airports which together form the world’s 5 th busiest airport combination and a major transport hub for Europe. Paris’ three international airports are Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris-Orly, and Beauvais-Tillé.

Paris is well served by a selection of budget airlines including Easyjet, Ryanair, French Bee, Transavia, and Norwegian. You can secure better deals by booking at least a month in advance and using a ticket price comparison website, like Omio . You can literally save hundreds of dollars by choosing the right flight. Because Paris is such a major transport hub, flights are very competitive.

Usually, you will find flying both the most affordable and easiest way to reach Paris. However, if you are traveling from a neighboring country, it is worthwhile checking into high-speed trains.

Paris is linked to neighboring countries by a network of high-speed rail links operated by SNCF . Although these trains take longer than flights, they transport their passengers from city center to city center. Flying, of course, usually requires a transfer to an airport some distance away from the city.

For example, if you’re traveling from London to Paris, a Eurostar train that passes through the famous Channel Tunnel will provide a relatively hassle-free journey when compared to flying. Also, in most cases, that journey will be quicker than flying because of the extra time taken up waiting for connections at the airports. And it also gives you bragging rights for using one of the world’s most famous undersea tunnels.

When planning your journey, compare the costs of flights and high-speed trains and decide which is the best option for you. Often flying will be cheapest, but if the cost isn’t too much more, the train will be relatively more comfortable and involve fewer complications.

Restaurants & Eating Out

Paris is recognized by many as the heart of the culinary world. Many internationally-acclaimed chefs trained there, and the terms used in gourmet kitchens worldwide originate in Paris. You won’t have any problem finding good food in the capital of France.

Traditional croissants are a great breakfast treat in any Parisian café. The best area for traditional cafés is the Boulevard Saint-Germain, a tree-lined avenue in the 6 th Arrondissement. The Neo Café is highly rated. But if you’re in a hurry and want your breakfast on the go, grab a fresh pain-au-chocolat from one of the family bakeries (patisseries).

Bo&mie in the 2 nd Arrondissement is the top-rated patisserie in Paris and close to attractions such as the Louvre and the Pompidou Center. In the early morning, you’ll often see Parisians walking out from patisseries with freshly baked baguettes. They do love freshly baked bread rather than long-life bread found on supermarket shelves.

If you want to find the most exclusive, Michelin-stared restaurants, explore the area around the Champs-Elysées. That’s where you’ll find many of the oldest restaurants in Paris. But, if you have a less discerning palate, the same area is where you’ll find McDonald’s, Burger King, and Starbucks.

The top-rated French gourmet restaurant here is Pierre Gagnaire on Rue Balzac. Be prepared to spend at least €200 per person and you will require a reservation.

While in Paris, you should try at least one distinctively French dish, like coq au vin or ratatouille. If you’re feeling courageous, you could opt for snails or frogs’ legs…just so you can say that you did.

You should consider taking a French cooking class while you are in Paris . Learn from the best and make the dishes you love at home!

Snacks & sweets

For traditional street food, try the amazing crepes that you can buy from many street corners. You can eat these tasty pancake treats while you walk with savory or sweet fillings.

Before you leave Paris, ensure you sample some of its amazing desserts. The Crème Brulée is a delicious traditional sweet, and meringues are sweet and satisfying but also very messy.

Nightlife & Entertainment

Paris is famous as a getaway for romantic weekends, so of course you’ll find a rich variety of nightlife.

The most famous nightspot in Paris is undoubtedly The Moulin Rouge in the area of the 18 th arrondissement known as Pigalle. This historic cabaret club is where the Can-can dance was created and a favorite haunt for many famous celebrities over the past century, from Toulouse-Lautrec to Frank Sinatra. You can enjoy a cabaret here for around €145 ($160).

However, be aware that Pigalle is regarded as the red-light district. Watch out for overly friendly ladies and gentlemen inviting you into dance clubs in this district.

Champs-Elysées

The most exclusive nightclubs, restaurants, and live music venues are found in the 8 th arrondissement, around the Champs-Elysées. Many of the clubs here are impossible to enter unless you are a recognizable celebrity, royal, or billionaire.

You’ll need to dress up smart to get into any of the decent clubs here. And if you do enter, be careful whose drink you nudge and spill! But a word of caution — the exclusive clubs in this area also include a few strip clubs! They’re very different from the strip clubs in Pigalle, but still strip clubs. One to watch out for is the famous Whisper Club .

An example of a bar in palatial settings where you might be concerned about scuffing the silverware and smearing the crystal is simply called Le Bar in the George V Four Seasons Hotel.

This same area is also home to more touristy haunts which you won’t find so difficult to enter. However, these often contain more tourists than locals, so don’t expect a uniquely French experience. The club with the most laid-back reputation is the Dogstar Club . You might get past the bouncers without a $10,000 watch on your wrist and a designer cocktail dress.

Place Vendome

The 1 st arrondissement is literally the center of the city around the Louvre and where you’ll find boutique hotels with historic bars frequented by celebrities and the beautiful rich. Most of these hotels have strict dress rules to enter the bar, and you’ll need a healthy income to survive the night.

The area around the Metro Bastille, on the borders of the 4 th , 11 th , and 12 th arrondissement, is where the younger and more relaxed crowd hang out. You’ll find decent nightclubs, cafés, live music venues, and dive bars frequented by local 20-somethings.

Check out the Niki Club on the Rue de Lappe for a casual night, or maybe the Black Star Club in Passage Thiere if you enjoy live rock music or jazz.

If you enjoy the LGBT scene, the Marais district in the southern part of the 3 rd arrondissement and northern part of the 4 th is where you’ll find welcoming cafés, bars, and live music venues where all genders and sexualities are made welcome. Café Cox is one bar legendary for its welcomes.

Getting Around

When you’re trying to find your way around, you might get confused by the way addresses sometimes emphasize the arrondissement, sometimes the name of the area, and sometimes the zip code. To simplify this a little, the last two digits of the zip code are the arrondissement number. So, the Eiffel tower is at 75007, meaning it’s in the 7 th arrondissement.

You might be surprised to discover it’s not in the 1 st arrondissement since it’s so central to the city. However, the way the arrondissements work is beginning in the Louvre — the 1 st arrondissement and true center of Paris (where the king’s palace is) — and then radiates out from there. The first layers are numbered from the north clockwise and wrap around the central arrondissements. The arrondissements get larger as you get further from the center.

Most of the main attractions are found in arrondissements 1 through 8, which form the core of the city. This means that it’s possible to walk from attraction to attraction. But if you want to go a little quicker, Paris boasts an affordable and efficient public transport system. And the best way to get around is on the Metro.

With 300 Metro stations, everywhere in Paris is within a 10-minute walk of a station. A Paris Visite Travel Pass provides unlimited Metro travel within a specified zone for a set period of time. The Travel Pass may also be used on trams, buses, and the RER underground train system. A 1-day ticket for Zones 1 to 3 costs €12 ($13).

There are even more bus stops than Metro stations and bus services run every 5 to 7 minutes. This means that buses are often more convenient for shorter journeys than the Metro. Since a Travel Pass allows you to swap between the Metro and buses, you can simply take the bus when it’s most convenient but use the Metro for longer destinations. To learn which would be most convenient for your planned journey, you can check the route maps on the RATP (Regie Autonome des Transports) website .

Hire bicycles

Like many capital cities in Europe, Paris has a public bicycle hire scheme. Around the city, you’ll find 1,800 Velib bike stations with 24,000 bicycles. You simply require a credit card with a chip to rent a Velib bike.

There are over 16,000 taxis in Paris. Taxis are an expensive but convenient mode of transport. You can take a taxi from a taxi rank or hail one down in the street.

While you can opt to hire a car in Paris, be aware that Parisian drivers have a bad reputation for safety. Also, the congested roads are difficult to navigate and parking places rare. If you really want to enjoy your time in Paris, walk or use public transport.

Accommodations

When choosing where to stay in Paris, you should consider why you’re there. If your main interest is in taking your family to Disneyland, Paris, then you’ll find accommodation near there more spacious and much more affordable than most places in the city.

However, if you want to visit the historical and cultural attractions, then you should confine yourself to the central areas between the 1 st and the 8 th arrondissements, where hotels are within walking distance of the main sites.

Below, I’ve divided the kind of accommodation by area. However, this is only a rough guide. You’ll find 5-star luxury hotels in the budget and family areas, and I’ve previously stayed in a very cheap family guesthouse about 2-minutes-walk from the Arc de Triomphe.

You’ll find a lot of budget accommodation around the 5 th and part of the 6 th arrondissements simply because these areas are a little further from the most popular tourist attractions and famous streets.

But if you don’t mind a little more walking, the area of Montmartre is still pretty central and boasts character-filled, winding streets. And with Metro stations dotted all around the area, it’s as convenient as any other central location if you plan to get around on public transport.

An example budget hotel in this area is the Hotel Marignan  on a quiet street in the Latin Quarter. This historic hotel has hosted many famous guests, such as EE Cummings, and is within walking distance of Notre Dame.

The Rive Gauche area of the rest of the 6 th and the 7 th arrondissements is an easy walk from places like the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. This makes the affordable hotels there perfect for families with young and impatient kids who just want to get there quick. Many of the hotels in this area vary between small boutique hotels and cozy, family-run hotels.

The aptly named Eiffel Rive Gauche Hotel is super close to the Eiffel Tower and would provide a great base for your family to explore the French capital.

While a few of the most exclusive hotels are in the 1 st arrondissement, the main selection of high-class hotels is found along the Champs-Elysees in the 8 th arrondissement. You’ll notice this coincides with where the most Michelin-starred restaurants and high-class bars and clubs are, many of which are attached to or inside the luxury hotels.

In terms of distance, the 1 st and 8 th arrondissements are neighbors, with the Champ-Elysees running between the Louvre area in the 1 st and the Arc de Triomphe in the 8 th . Government officials and important people have long made their home in the 8 th arrondissement, and it is considered the cultural heart of the capital.

A great example of a luxury hotel in this area is the Hotel de Crillon , which looks more like a palace or museum than a working hotel.

Although it’s fairly inland, Paris still benefits from an oceanic climate with cool but mild winters and pleasantly warm summers. Generally, the city sees light rainfall distributed evenly through the year, though sudden heavy showers can occur.

Paris gets coldest in January, with an average daily high of 45 0 F and a low of 37 0 F. During spring, the temperatures warm so that by April it reaches an average high of 60 0 F and low of 45 0 F. Spring is a great time to visit Paris because the flowers are blooming all around the city and the summer crowds have yet to descend upon the city.

The hottest month of the summer is July, with an average high of 77 0 F and low of 60 0 F. That’s when the city becomes crowded with visitors from all around the world. By October, the average high drops to 61 0 F and the low to 49 0 F. The fall is another great time to visit because the weather isn’t too cold but the crowds have diminished and the trees have donned their beautiful autumnal cloaks.

Attractions

The main attractions radiate out from the center of the city, which is the 1 st arrondissement.

The Louvre Palace in the 1st arrondissement was the main residence of the Kings of France from the 14 th century onward. Today it is much better known as the home of the world’s greatest art museum, the Musée du Louvre . If you want to see such world-famous masterpieces as the Venus de Milo sculpture and the Mona Lisa painting, then you should head straight for the glass pyramid in front of the grand palatial building.

The great cathedral of Notre-Dame in the 4 th arrondissement is so spectacular and famous that I cannot justify leaving it out of this list. However, please note that the Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Paris is closed for at least the next four years and maybe more.

After the devastating fire of April 2019, the cathedral and nearby surrounding area were closed to public access until sufficient repairs can be made to make the area safe once again. You can still admire its amazing Gothic architecture from a distance and maybe catch a glimpse of some of the restoration work in progress.

Eiffel Tower

The most visited attraction in the center of Paris is the Eiffel Tower in the 7 th arrondissement. Although this renowned iron tower was erected as a temporary structure in 1889, it is still standing strong and looks good for another few centuries of service. The fact that it was the world’s tallest building when built is eye-opening when it is compared to the Empire State Building in NYC or the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, but it is still the best place for a panoramic view in Paris.

Arc de Triomphe

This triumphal arch in the 8 th arrondissement was commissioned by Napoleon but wasn’t built until 1836, long after his death. It stands on a huge roundabout at the northern end of the Champ-Elysees and is one of the most recognizable and photographed monuments in the capital. The Arc de Triomphe is also home to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Flame of Remembrance that is kept alive in daily ceremonies.

You have to leave the city and travel 12 miles southwest to reach the Palace of Versailles , where Louis XIV moved his court in the 17 th century. Now this famous palace is a grand museum full of amazing reminders of the power of the great Sun King. Look around the interior and exterior of the palace for the many sun-emblems reminding visitors who lived here. But the true highlight for many visitors is the beautiful formal gardens that surround the palace.

Disneyland Paris

Also outside the city, despite its name, is Disneyland Paris, 20 miles to the east. This famous theme park is the most visited attraction in France. If you’re visiting Paris with children, you’ll probably want to devote two days to Disney because there are two separate parks here: Disneyland Park opened in 1992 and Walt Disney Studios Park opened in 2002. Inside both, you’ll find thrill rides for all ages as well as classic attractions, like actors dressed up as your favorite Disney characters and Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. The easiest way to get to Disney Paris is with a shuttle and entrance ticket deal .

Planning Tips

Paris is an amazing destination that should be on everyone’s bucket list. Here are 5 tips to help you on your way.

Tip #1: Watch out for Mondays and Tuesdays

When planning your itinerary for your stay in Paris, note that many major attractions, such as the Palace of Versailles and the catacombs, are closed on Mondays. A few attractions are closed on Tuesdays instead, including the Natural History Museum and the Pompidou Center. There are various major attractions open every day, like the Eiffel Tower and Disneyland Paris, so go there on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Tip #2: Buy unique souvenirs and gifts

Paris is, of course, the center of fashion. However, there is one relatively unfashionable item of dress that you might want to pick up during your stay in France’s capital city. The béret is the cliché headwear of France, and you’ll see cheap versions “made in China” in every souvenir shop you pass. But, if you want to buy the real thing, look out for clothing stores that sell bérets made in France. La Cerise Sur Le Chapeau is a well-known chain store around Paris that stocks French bérets.

However, if you’re looking for something distinctly Parisian that few people will own, how about a piece of the Eiffel Tower? Victor Lustig once sold the Eiffel Tower twice in an elaborate con, but this opportunity isn’t a scam like that. During repairs to the tower, inevitably some parts need to be replaced. The removed rivets are turned into unique souvenirs only available in the Eiffel Tower’s official gift shop.

Tip #3: Stay safe while visiting Paris

Although Paris is considered a relatively safe city, don’t forget that Kim Kardashian had all her bling stolen while she was staying in a vacation apartment there. Just like any other busy city, you will find purse-snatchers and pickpockets in crowded locations, especially around tourist hotspots.

Just use common sense. Keep your passport and other valuable documents in a hotel safe. Keep your money in a money belt. Don’t wear ostentatious jewelry in public places.

If you see abandoned packages or luggage in a crowded public place, especially a Metro station, distance yourself from the package and call 112. Paris is not a stranger to terrorist attacks.

Tip #4: Book in advance, especially during the summer

Paris is a popular destination in summer and during Christmas and Easter. Ensure you book your hotel rooms and any tours you wish to join well in advance of your vacation. You often get better air flight deals when you book in advance, and that is especially true during the summer.

The best time to visit Paris for bargain prices and fewer crowds is during the shoulder season—just before or just after summer. The weather is still fine, but there are simply fewer tourists.

Tip #5: Learn a few French phrases before traveling to Paris

The French are a proud people, not least of all Parisians. They are rightly concerned about the dilution of their native tongue by English words and phrases from Hollywood movies and internationally popular songs. So, if you’ve ever heard someone say that French people are rude, it’s probably because the person telling you expected them to speak English.

Almost all French people you’ll meet speak English. But if you greet them in French and use a few words and phrases like “merci” and “s’il vous plaît”, they will be more likely to treat you with respect in return. You don’t need to speak more than a handful of phrases, and you don’t even need a good accent. Parisians will appreciate your effort.

BNP Paribas Open

By BNP Paribas Open

The 2024 BNP Paribas Open has finally arrived! With the action officially beginning Sunday, keep reading for a comprehensive preview of this year’s tournament with 24 Key Things you need to know for the 2024 BNP Paribas Open.

1. World No. 1s Headline Player Field – Do you want to see the best players in the world compete? If so, you’ve come to the right place. The Indian Wells Tennis Garden is set to play host to the top stars in the sport over the next two weeks, with current World No. 1s and former BNP Paribas Open champions Novak Djokovic (2008, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016) and Iga Swiatek (2022) topping the star-studded 2024 player fields. Djokovic will make his return to Indian Wells for the first time since 2019, while Swiatek last played in 2023 when she reached the semifinal.

2. Australian Open Titles In Two Years For Aryna Sabalenka – Surging talent Aryna Sabalenka won her second Grand Slam title this past January, defending her 2023 Australian Open title and taking home the crown in back-to-back years. At last year’s BNP Paribas Open, she fell to eventual champion Elena Rybakina in the semifinals – will her momentum from Down Under carry over to Tennis Paradise for a maiden Indian Wells title?

3. Days Of Qualifying Create More Action Than Ever – Tennis Paradise is beginning earlier than ever this year as the action starts on Sunday for the first time in history with WTA qualifying. Fans can experience a full slate of qualifying matches from Sunday, March 3-Tuesday, March 5 along with a full slate of superstar practice sessions, all for just $10 with ticket proceeds benefiting local charities.

4. Rohan Bopanna Became The Fourth Indian Player To Win A Major – The reigning BNP Paribas Open men’s doubles champion Rohan Bopanna became the fourth player from India to win a Major title with his maiden Grand Slam win at the 2024 Australian Open. He also became the oldest debut World No. 1 with the win, topping the rankings at 43 years of age. Bopanna won both 2023 Indian Wells and the 2024 Australian Open alongside partner Matthew Ebden, and the two will be back in action to defend their title this year as the top seed. Doubles is always a highlight in Indian Wells with top singles players like Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, Jannik Sinner, Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula and more all competing in the doubles field this year. Still, all eyes will be on Bopanna as one of the favorites to watch as he makes this extraordinary run late in his career.

5. Former Indian Wells Champions In This Year’s ATP Field – Five former BNP Paribas Open champions will be vying for another taste of Indian Wells glory in 2024. Novak Djokovic will be searching for a record-breaking sixth career title, Rafael Nadal for his fourth, and the last three champions – Carlos Alcaraz (2023), Taylor Fritz (2022) and Cameron Norrie (2021) all looking for their second titles.

6. Former Champions On The WTA Side – The women’s field has six former winners coming back to play at Indian Wells this year. Two-time winner Victoria Azarenka (2012, 2016) will vie for a third title in the desert, with Caroline Wozinack i (2011), Naomi Osaka (2018), Paula Badosa (2021), Iga Swiatek (2022) and defending champion Elena Rybakina (2023) looking for second BNP Paribas Open titles.

7. American Men Live In The ATP Top 50 – With 2022 Champion Taylor Fritz aiming to add another Indian Wells title to his resume, six other American ATP stars also ranked in the Top 50 will search for their first titles in the desert. Keep an eye out for 2023 semifinalist Frances Tiafoe as well as Tommy Paul , Ben Shelton , Sebastian Korda , Christopher Eubanks and Marcos Giron .

8. Celebrate International Women’s Day On Friday, March 8 – Of course match action takes the spotlight in Indian Wells every year, but the off-court activities schedule is a highlight too. Fans will want to be at the Village Stage on International Women’s Day for a special edition of daily Tennis Talks. BNP Paribas and FILA will present the “Inspiring the Next Generation” panel, where you can hear from leading women in tennis, pickleball and business. And be sure to check out all of the other Tennis Talks, daily at 12:30pm.

9. Come See Tennis Legend John McEnroe Rock Out March 9 – For the second year in a row, catch John McEnroe’s “Johnny Smyth Band” performing at the Village Stage. And don’t miss out on the other entertainment and live music performing daily during the tournament including Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon, the Bryan Bros. Band, and more. Check out the full activities schedule here .

10. Tie Break Tens Returns With Mixed Doubles – For the second year in a row, The Eisenhower Cup Presented By Masimo will come to Indian Wells as a one-night, Tie Break Tens event featuring a mixed doubles format. You can see top-ranked ATP and WTA players teaming up for the contest, from reigning Eisenhower Cup champions Aryna Sabalenka and Taylor Fritz to World No. 1 Iga Swiatek, Caroline Wozniacki, Holger Rune, Elena Rybakina, Ben Shelton and more.

11. Players Have Completed The Sunshine Double – The “Sunshine Double” has been bestowed as an informal tennis award to those able to complete the feat of winning the 1000-level events in Indian Wells followed by Miami in the same year. Eleven players have accomplished the feat, and three are in the 2024 player field. Djokovic has won at Indian Wells and Miami in the same year four times – first in 2011 and then during his three-peat from 2014-16. On the WTA side, Victoria Azarenka did it in 2016, and most recently, Iga Swiatek in 2022. Will this year’s victors make it happen in 2024? The quest begins in the desert.

12. Career Titles for Australian Open Champion Jannik Sinner – With 12 titles to his name already, the young Italian Jannik Sinner is seemingly just getting started, arriving in Tennis Paradise after claiming his maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. Last year, he fell to fellow New Era talent and eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals, and he’ll be gunning for his first BNP Paribas Open crown with a target on his back this March.

13. Main Draw Wild Cards – This year’s player field features 13 recently announced main draw wild cards. Headlining the WTA wild card entries is seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams , 2011 Indian Wells Champion Caroline Wozniacki , two-time Grand Slam Finalist Karolina Pliskova and 2021 US Open Champion Emma Radacanu . On the men’s side, keep an eye out for California native and 2022 Next Gen ATP Finals champion Brandon Nakashima , plus former World No. 9 Fabio Fognini .

14. March 14 Features Brand New All-Play Quarterfinal Thursday – Brand new for 2024, the BNP Paribas Open will host all ATP/WTA quarterfinals matches on one action-packed Thursday. It’s sure to be an energetic day of world-class tennis with coveted semifinal spots on the line. If there was ever one day to be at the BNP Paribas Open, it has to be the revamped Quarterfinal Thursday.

15. Times Andy Murray Has Played At Indian Wells, With 16 Likely His Last – British legend Andy Murray announced earlier this year that he intends to retire before the end of the 2024 season, so this appearance at Indian Wells will almost certainly be his last. Murray, a three-time Grand Slam champion, had his best result at Indian Wells with a finals run in 2009, falling to Rafael Nadal. Fans should be eager to see if the veteran has one last bit of ‘Murray Magic’ in him this time around at Indian Wells.

16. The Age Of Mirra Andreeva, The Youngest WTA Player In The Field – The reigning WTA Newcomer of the Year Mirra Andreeva will make her BNP Paribas Open debut this year in the main draw. She is coming off two fourth round Grand Slam showings, the first at 2023 Wimbledon and then again a few months ago at the 2024 Australian Open.

17. The Age Of Both 2023 FILA Junior Championship Winners Competing In Qualifying – The inaugural FILA International Junior Championships took place last year in Tennis Paradise, with Cooper Woestendick and Clervie Ngounoue taking home the crowns. With their title wins, both Woestendick and Ngounoue received automatic wild cards to compete in qualifying at this year’s BNP Paribas Open. Look out for these two youngsters in their qualifying debuts early in the first week. Fans can catch the second edition of the junior championships in Indian Wells beginning Monday, March 11 and running through the end of the tournament Sunday, March 17.

18. The Age Of Jakub Mensik, The Youngest Main Draw ATP Player – Jakub Mensik makes his Indian Wells main draw debut this spring after turning heads last month at the 2024 Qatar Open. In Qatar, he earned his first Top 5 win over top seed Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals en route to a finals appearance. He also defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and tennis legends Andy Murray and Gael Monfils during his run to the finals.

19. Record-Setting $19M In Total Prize Money Up For Grabs in 2024 – The stakes are as high as ever this year in the desert as the 2024 BNP Paribas Open will award a grand total of $19M in total prize money to players across the event. This is the largest sum in tournament history.

20. The Number of Practice Courts At The Indian Wells Tennis Garden – And where some of the best action happens on-site. Fans can get up close to their favorite players with 20 practice courts across the grounds. If you’re feeling a break from the match action, head over to the practice courts to get up close and watch the stars prepare for their upcoming matches. Lucky fans might even be able to catch an autograph or selfie with their favorite player.

21. Tournaments Since An American WTA Champion Prevailed – The last time Indian Wells saw an American women’s champion was over 20 years ago. Expect a number of highly touted American women to compete for the crown this year, including none other than 2023 US Open Champion Coco Gauff . Top 5 ranked talent Jessica Pegula also remains a threat for an Indian Wells breakthrough, but the pressure is building as the wait continues for a homegrown WTA champion in Tennis Paradise.

22. Time Grand Slam Champion Rafael Nadal Returns – 22x Grand Slam champion and 3x Indian Wells Champion Rafael Nadal will return to the desert after missing the 2023 tournament. Nadal’s last time around in Tennis Paradise in 2022 saw him make the finals before falling to Taylor Fritz. The Spanish legend will be on the hunt for his first BNP Paribas Open title in 10 years this spring as he launches his 2024 comeback campaign right here in the desert. Nadal is currently scheduled to play his first round match during the evening session on Thursday, March 7.

23. ‘23 Champions Carlos Alcaraz and Elena Rybakina Look To Repeat – Repeating in the desert is no easy feat, and World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz and World No. 4 Elena Ryabkina will have a tall task at hand on as they try to mount their title defenses. Alcaraz will have his eyes set on becoming the first back-to-back champion since Djokovic’s three-peat from 2014-2016. On the WTA side, there has only ever been one back-to-back champion: Martina Navratilova in 1990 and 1991.

24. The Number of Delicious Food & Beverage Options On-site For Fans – Enough talk about tennis, the Indian Wells Tennis Garden is going to be a culinary sanctuary this March with 20+ dining options and more than a dozen new concessions to welcome fans in 2024. World-class tennis and a world-class fan experience once again are ready to take the Southern California desert by storm for two weeks of action that fans will not want to miss.

The Olympics could be an ‘accelerator’ for progress on L.A. issues. For Bass, they also bring risk

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is touring Paris this week to study how France is preparing for the 2024 Olympics. When California’s biggest city is on the same global stage in four years, it’ll have a chance to rebut its biggest critics – or be reminded of the scrutiny that comes with hosting.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass arrived in Paris Thursday for a three-day visit to study France’s plans for the 2024 Summer Olympics , a gigantic undertaking that Los Angeles and California will host four years from now.

With the Paris games less than five months away, Bass said the trip offered a chance to see what Los Angeles might learn from how France is grappling with security, transportation, the environment and homelessness – issues Los Angeles is facing to different degrees and will have to address before Southern California takes the global stage in 2028.

The city’s goal, Bass said, will be to use the two weeks of international athletic contests – and the run-up to those events – as an “accelerator” to develop public infrastructure, notably transit, in a way that will have lasting benefits for California and the nation.

“We certainly are expecting a lot of investments from the federal government, state government, absolutely,” she said after a City Hall meeting with Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo. “I mean this is the games for the United States. So we obviously focus where the games are, but this impacts our entire country.”

The Olympics offer an exceptional opportunity – and some risk – to Bass. She did not work for the games or even ask for them. That was an accomplishment of her predecessor , Eric Garcetti. And yet, should she be re-elected in three years, it’s Bass who stands to reap the advantages that the Olympics confer.

In that sense, the Olympics are a gift.

Los Angeles was chosen in part because it already has the facilities required for sporting events and housing, so major construction in those areas is not necessarily needed. But the influx of expected guests will place demands on the city’s hotels, transportation systems and security arrangements. It also will generate significant economic activity.

The 1984 Summer Olympics are fondly remembered by longtime L.A. residents for the festivities that surrounded the games and the respite from traffic that careful planning supplied. Those games also turned a profit, and helped fund sports programs and other city initiatives long after they ended.

The 2028 games provide incentives and potential resources for addressing the city’s most pressing issue, both in moral and political terms: its tens of thousands of unhoused people.

Garcetti, in a fit of exuberance, once suggested that the city could eliminate street homelessness by the time of the Olympics . That seems unlikely, but if Bass is still in office in 2028, it will be five years into her work on this issue , enough time for her to demonstrate substantial progress or to be held accountable for a lack of it .

Homelessness in France is nowhere near as extensive as it is in California. On Friday, Bass and her delegation, which includes three L.A. City Council members, plan to meet with volunteers who distribute clothes and other necessities to unhoused people in Paris.

After meeting with Hidalgo at Paris City Hall, Bass said she was not worried about the world focusing on California’s difficulties housing its population in 2028.

“I’m convinced, and I’m sure my colleagues here on the city council are convinced, that Los Angeles will look different,” she said at her joint appearance with the mayor of Paris.

Although the Olympics are awarded to – and hosted by – cities, the larger state of California will surely be affected by the games. As California becomes a case study in the culture wars, it has attracted more and more criticism – for its income inequality , the erosion of its middle class, its policies on immigrants, policing and homelessness .

For those who consider California a state in decline, the Olympics are a chance to demonstrate otherwise.

While events will be scattered across Southern California, from Pasadena’s Rose Bowl to Perris Lake well east of Los Angeles, visitors are expected to extend their stays on the coast, bringing tourists to San Diego, San Francisco and other parts of California.

Still, the games come with risks, too. In the run-up to the 1996 games in Atlanta, local boosters saw it as an opportunity to modernize venues and display the modern American South. “The city too busy to hate,” as Atlanta liked to call itself, wanted to demonstrate its cosmopolitan multiculturalism, its embrace of civil rights, its sheer modernity.

And then a bomb went off . The pipe-bomb explosion in Centennial Park overshadowed much of the event and left a stain on the host city, which also was criticized for transportation breakdowns and hotel shortages.

The Atlanta games were a reminder that the Olympics can bring glory, but they also bring scrutiny. Being the center of international attention is not always easy.

Indeed, France’s buildup to the Olympics has not been entirely smooth. Security concerns led the interior minister to announce that just 320,000 people would be allowed to attend the extravagant opening ceremony planned for the most picturesque stretch of the Seine River between the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral – well short of the 2 million spectators initially promised.

Labor unions have threatened to disrupt the games unless their members get big bonuses for extra work required during the Olympics, which will take place during France’s peak vacation season in late July and early August. Price gouging for hotel rooms and short-term rentals during the Olympics has only recently begun to let up.

Some Parisians have been alarmed by restrictions in public access to the city’s central neighborhoods. And police executed a search warrant at Hidalgo’s City Hall office on Tuesday for an investigation of possible misuse of public funds in the mayor’s trip last year to Tahiti, where Olympics surfing contests will take place.

The L.A. mayor’s visit continues through Saturday, as Bass and her delegation visit the site of the opening ceremonies and the Olympic Village, among other stops on whirlwind visit. She returns to Los Angeles on Sunday.

Preview Paris-Nice 2024 | Year after Pogacar vs. Vingegaard, now BORA-Roglic against Tour-Evenepoel!

T he Race to the Sun, here we go! Paris-Nice is known in the peloton as one of the toughest stage races on the calendar, where the level of nervousness rivals that of the Tour de France. Not surprising, as classic riders, sprinters and general classification contenders all show up in top form here. IDLProCycling.com guides you through the 2024 edition!

Just one glance at the recent honor roll tells you enough: this is no race for the faint-hearted. With Tadej Pogacar, Egan Bernal and Geraint Thomas, three Tour de France winners are on the recent list of victors, while Primoz Roglic and Richie Porte have also stood on the podium of the world's biggest race. Looking even further, you will find more stars including Bradley Wiggins and Alberto Contador.

Last year, Paris-Nice was the setting for a grand duel between Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard, with the Slovenian dominating over his Danish rival. This season, both gentlemen prefer Tirreno-Adriatico.

Paris-Nice 2024: Course, favorites daily wins and times

Stage 1, sunday, march 3: les mureaux - les mureaux (158.0 km).

Paris-Nice kicks off with a tricky stage, where the peloton will face several challenging hills in the final phase of the race, hitting double-digit gradients. Both strong sprinters and breakaway hopefuls will be eyeing success here.

10.6 km: Cote de Bazemont (1.7 km at 6.6%)

90.8 km: Cote d'Herbeville (2.6 km at 5.1%)

119.9 km: Cote de Bazemont (1.7 km at 6.6%)

149.7 km: Cote d'Herbeville (2.6 km at 5.1%)

Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek)

Michael Matthews (Jayco AlUla)

Arnaud De Lie (Lotto-Dstny)

Start: 1:15 PM

Finish 4:38 PM

Stage 2, Monday, March 4: Thoiry - Montargis (179 km)

The second stage of Paris-Nice is a great opportunity for the sprinters. There are hardly any significant elevation gains, so normally all the sprinter teams will be on high alert for this golden chance in Montargis.

12.6 km: Cote des Mesnuls (1.2 km at 5.7%)

66.5 km: Cote de Villerconin (0.7 km at 6.3%)

Olav Kooij (Visma | Lease a Bike)

Fabio Jakobsen (dsm-firmenich PostNL)

Dylan Groenewegen (Jayco AlUla)

Start: 12:35 PM

Finish 4:34 PM

Stage 3, Tuesday, March 5: Auxerre - Auxerre (26.9 km)

A 27-kilometer team time trial on day three serves as a stern test in Paris-Nice. Around Auxerre, the riders and teams will need to overcome some elevation gains in the first half before heading towards the finish in a flat line.

UAE-Team Emirates

Soudal Quick-Step

Visma | Lease a Bike

Start: 2:40 PM

Stage 4, Wednesday, March 6: Chalon-sur-Saone - Mont Brouilly (183 km)

This stage could be described as the French equivalent of the well-known 'walls stage' in Tirreno-Adriatico. It features seven climbs, with the organizers indicating six of them with the warning triangle (gradients above 13%). The stage concludes with a finish atop Mont Brouilly, a three-kilometer hill averaging 7.7 percent.

33.4 km: Cote du Mont-Saint-Vincent (2.9 km at 6.3%)

88.8 km: Col de Boubon (4.4 km at 6%)

104.1 km: Cote de Vauxrenard (3.2 km at 6.7%)

127.5 km: Col de Durbize (2.2 km at 9.4%)

144.2 km: Mont Brouilly (3 km at 7.7%)

161, 1 km: Col du Fut d'Avenas (5.1 km at 7.3%)

183.0 km: Mont Brouilly (3 km at 7.7%)

Primoz Roglic ( BORA-hansgrohe)

Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step)

Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl-Trek)

Start: 12:00 PM

Stage 5, Thursday, March 7: Saint-Saveur-de-Montagut - Sisteron (193.5 km)

The fifth stage of Paris-Nice is a toss-up. The strong sprinters will surely want to seize their chance, but the breakaway riders might also see an opportunity. Therefore, everyone should keep their eyes peeled in the opening phase.

82.5 km: Col de la Sausse (2.7 km at 5.2%)

118.1 km: Col de Peyruergue (5.4 km at 4.9%)

146.2 km: Cote de la Rochette-du-Buis (2.4 km at 5.4%)

Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceunick)

Start: 11:55 AM

Finish 4:31 PM

Stage 6, Friday, March 8: Sisteron - La Colle-sur-Loup (198.5 km)

The Friday stage in Paris-Nice could be a typical transitional stage. The day includes six hills, with the notably steep Cote de la Colle-sur-Loup, averaging ten percent, possibly standing out. After the final climb, there are ten kilometers left, leading up to a nasty uphill finish. It is an ideal stage for the classic specialists.

69.8 km: Col des Leques (6.6 km at 5%)

87.4 km: Col de Luens (6.8 km at 4.7%)

92.6 km: Cote de la Blachette (3 km at 5.5%)

140.5 km: Col de Gourdon (6.3 km at 4.3%)

169.8 km: Cote de la Colle-sur-Loup (1.8 km at 10%)

177.2 km: Col des Leques (6.6 km at 5%)

Favorites Oier Lazkano (Movistar)

Christian Scaroni (Astana Qazaqstan Team)

Fred Wright (Bahrain Victorious)

Start: 11:50 AM

Finish 4:33 PM

Stage 7, Saturday, March 9: Nice - Auron (173.0 km)

The penultimate stage of Paris-Nice heads to the summit of Auron and can be considered a serious mountain stage after the two previous climbs. The better climbers in the Race to the Sun will want to put their best foot forward here.

10.1 km: Cote de Gattieres (4.5 km at 4.8%)

120.2 km: La Colmiane (7.5 km at 7.1%)

173.0 km: Auron (7.3 km at 7.1%)

Primoz Roglic (BORA-hansgrohe)

Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain Victorious)

Start: 10:35 AM

Finish 3:08 PM

Stage 8, Sunday, March 10: Nice - Nice (109.5 km)

Paris-Nice traditionally concludes with a tricky stage in and around Nice, and 2024 is no different. Again, the race will cover just over a hundred kilometers, but typically, a lot happens within that distance!

21.0 km: Cote des Levens (6.2 km at 4.9%)

36.9 km: Cote de Chateauneuf (5.4 km at 4.6%)

50.9 km: Cote de Berre-les-Alpes (6.3 km at 6.0%)

68.6 km: Cote de Peille (6.6 km at 6.9%)

100.3 km: Col des Quatre-Chemins (3.6 km at 8.8%)

Pello Bilbao (Bahrain Victorious)

Brandon McNulty (UAE-Team Emirates)

Matteo Jorgenson (Visma | Lease a Bike)

Start: 12:05 PM

Finish 2:49 PM

Favorites general classification Paris-Nice 2024

As always, Paris-Nice boasts a strong field of participants. Last year, Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard stood out, but this year the spotlight is on another illustrious pair: Remco Evenepoel of Soudal Quick-Step on one side and Primoz Roglic of BORA-hansgrohe on the other. Evenepoel is truly starting his Tour de France project here, while Roglic will be competing in his first race for BORA-hansgrohe.

Both men are supported by their respective lieutenant riders, Ilan Van Wilder and Aleksandr Vlasov , yet there is still plenty of competition. For instance, Mattias Skjelmose of Lidl-Trek, who has also targeted this race. The Dane is a strong climber, has a powerful team and possesses a fast sprint.

Visma | Lease a Bike is counting on Matteo Jorgenson , one of the men from the Opening Weekend, and Wilco Kelderman. They might not be the top stage race riders, but Nice-resident Jorgenson could surprise. Felix Gall is the main man for the in-form Decathlon AG2R team, and the robust Austrian should also be considered capable of showing his best on the climbs.

Then there are the teams from the Middle East, with Bahrain Victorious and UAE-Team Emirates leading the way. The Bahraini team is fielding Santiago Buitrago , Jack Haig and Pello Bilbao , while UAE-Team Emirates, with former winner Marc Soler, Brandon McNulty, Finn Fisher-Black, Felix Grosschartner, Jay Vine and Joao Almeida , opens up a strong roster.

INEOS Grenadiers is banking on Carlos Rodríguez , while Jayco AlUla is playing the Luke Plapp card. Groupama-FDJ, meanwhile, is pinning its hopes on French contender David Gaudu . Other distant contenders include Alexey Lutsenko (Astana Qazaqstan Team), Rigoberto Urán (EF Education-EasyPost), Ion Izagirre (Cofidis) and Ruben Guerreiro (Movistar).

Who are the favorites for the general classification of Paris-Nice 2024, according to IDLProCycling.com ?

Top favorites: Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) and Primoz Roglic (BORA-hansgrohe)

Outsiders: Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl-Trek), Santiago Buitrago (Bahrian Victorious), Matteo Jorgenson (Visma | Lease a Bike) and Felix Gall (Decathlon AG2R)

Long shots: David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ), Carlos Rodríguez (INEOS Grenadiers), Joao Almeida, Jay Vine (UAE-Team Emirates), Luke Plapp (Jayco AlUla), Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain Victorious), Aleksandr Vlasov (BORA-hansgrohe) and Ilan Van Wilder (Soudal Quick-Step)
