• Select the number of passengers and a date.
• Please fill out all the necessary fields in our booking form as they are needed by our insurance company and the Thai government.
• Credit cards are accepted payment methods.  Balance of payment can be paid in cash.
• In case of a private charter booking, please note your booking is not guaranteed until payment of the deposit has been received.
• We will contact you by email the afternoon before your tour to confirm room details and pick-up time.

Cancellations are a difficult affair for both us and prospective customers. We therefore try to approach it with a ‘common sense’ attitude.

You must be aware that there is a significant financial impact on Simba when a customer cancels a tour at late notice we have a high level of fixed costs and we only take a maximum of 12-18 adult customers. We also pre-book many of the activities undertaken on the day of your trip, all of which are non-refundable to Simba.

If you cancel due to sickness and we are unable to place you on another trip, you can go to the doctors and obtain a medical certificate. We can then issue you with a receipt for the money paid to Simba, all of which can be claimed back from the majority of holiday insurance providers.

If we decide to cancel due to bad weather, we will have done so taking into consideration customer safety and that of the vessel as well as predicted weather forecasts and satellite images. In this instance your deposit will be refunded in full if an alternative date cannot be found.

*In the event that you are a ‘no-show’ on the morning of your trip,  for whatever reason , the full balance of your trip is due.

*If you have booked a group of guests and one or more does not show on the morning of the trip,  the person who booked the trip will be required to pay the full balance.

Cancellation Policy: Please read.

By advancing your deposit to Simba Sea trips, you therefore agree to be bound by the below terms and conditions.

Cancellations for reasons other than testing positive for COVID19 within 24 hours of the trip, or a no show (inc missed departure when using own transport) will result in 100% of the total cost being charged. This means you would not only lose the deposit you would be required to pay the balance stated on the confirmation email.

Note – if Simba is able to re-book your seats to other customers you of course will be provided a full refund ASAP.

In the case of sickness we will make every effort to move you to an alternative date however the cancellation policy still stands. As we limit the number of guests on each trip we do get fully booked and a reschedule may not be possible. A refund will be applicable should we be able to re-book your seats to other customers.

If Simba cancel a trip and cannot reschedule during your time in Phuket we will refund 100% of all deposits immediately.

As a general rule, most people do not get seasick on our boats. However if you suffer badly from motion sickness, we do offer you seasickness tablets in the morning. It is advisable to take these at least 30 minutes before the trip. If you suffer from severe seasickness, then perhaps reconsider booking a boat tour.

Simba has long prided itself on  committing to the lowest passenger numbers per boat  of any speedboat operator, not only in Phuket, but across Thailand.

We believe that low passenger numbers are an important factor in making the Simba tour experience superior to any other speedboat tour in Phuket.

Over the course of a typical 12-month season  we average just under 14 people per boat tour . This includes adults and children and we are very confident no other operator in Phuket will ever match such low numbers. Indeed, it is unlikely they could even determine what their average load is! Incidentally we average 1 child per tour.

Please be aware that tour operators are increasingly using the ‘small group’ descriptor for tours that take 25 – 30 passengers, nearly a 100% increase on Simba’s policy!

The monsoon season in Phuket does bring about stronger winds, bigger swells and a higher chance of rain, but it also means less tourists! Before we undertake any of our trips, whether in the dry or monsoon season, we check the tides, swell chart, satellite images, local weather radar and weather reports. If we feel there is any danger to you, our boat or us we will cancel the trip as early as possible. Simba will cancel a trip if we feel anyone’s safety is compromised.

Because of the exposure to the Indian Ocean sea swells, we assess our Phi Phi tours on a daily basis, and these can be subject to cancellation between May and November.  If this is the case, you have the choice of a full refund, or a switch to a Phang Nga bay tour where the water conditions are generally better.

During May to October our Phang Nga Bay tours are more protected from the elements and generally has smaller waves and wind effect.

The concept of ‘safety first’ is extremely important to us.

‘’Simba Sea Trips are amazing’’

My wife and I spent a week in Phuket and we ended up doing two Simba Tours, after being thoroughly impressed by our first tour.

We did the Phi Phi island tour, and the James Bond island tour. Both were amazing and I would recommend doing them both because they were very different from each other. The Phi Phi islands tour had snorkeling and a lot of pristine beach and lagoon locations, while the Jamea Bond island tour had no snorkeling but sea kayaking instead, as well as cave exploration.

Both times the driver showed up at our hotel in Karon beach early, and was very pleasant to deal with. He takes you directly to their office in the Royal Phuket Marina, where a light morning snack is waiting for you (boiled eggs, coffee, crackers, fruit, etc.). There's then a briefing of the tour on a large map that is very comprehensive so that everyone understands the days schedule and can ask questions. Both times the briefing was done by one of the tour guides named Harry who speaks perfect English. The tour guides themselves were amazing, we had Woody on our first tour and Harry on our second tour and I can guarantee that these guys are top notch. They really do avoid all of the masses, for example we were the first ones on the James Bond island, which apparently is very very busy normally. The tour guides know when the popular spots get busy and using the smaller boat (we had approximately 16 people on our first tour and 15 on the second), they are able to get in and out before the masses. The crew on the boat such as the captain and boat boy were always very friendly, often taking candid pictures of us, which they offer to email to you afterwards at no cost. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Highly recommend.

Phuket weather is tropical and we have a lot of sunshine. You won’t need to bring a lot of clothes if you come to surf, as most of your time will be spent on the beach. While you may bust your butt to wake up at 5 AM to beat the crowd, you’re going to eventually land up on a boat with some fifty odd tourists. Just like I did on my first speed tour in Phuket.

I was exhausted half way into the tour and couldn’t get off the boat. Island hopping in Phuket was an experience of a lifetime only when I chartered a private speed boat.

It gave me the freedom to travel away from the crowd, take a snooze whenever we needed to and go where the wind took us. I learned this lesson the hard way but you don’t need to.

Unless you prefer to give it a shot and end up sharing snorkeling gear with other tourists, (cue *titanic flute fail*).

Most Phuket boat tours depart from Ao Chalong Pier. Boat tours going to Phi Phi Islands, Koh Lanta, Coral Island, Koh Racha and Maiton depart from this southern portion of Phuket.

Others usually depart from Bang Rong Pier, which is located in the North. For example, the boat tours going to Koh Yao Islands start from there.

Thailand has three seasons: cool, hot and wet (the Monsoon season).

The Monsoon season, which you want to avoid as it rains a lot, occurs at a different date every year but it’s usually from June through October.

1. Phi Phi Islands – Koh Phi Phi Don

2. Phi Phi Islands – Koh Phi Phi Leh

James Bond Island, whose real name is Khao Phing Kan, is the most famous island in the Phang Nga Bay area. It has been nicknamed James Bond Island because that’s where The Man with the Golden Gun movie was filmed. James Bond Island is within Phang Nga Bay which is located 35 kilometers northeast of Phuket. That’s roughly a 2-hour boat ride from Phuket.

4. Koh Panyee

Koh Panyee is another popular spot in Phang Nga Bay. It is a Muslim fishing village known for its excellent seafood restaurants and welcoming locals! It has become one of Phang Nga Bay’s main attraction with tourists praising it for being the best lunch stop.

Koh Panyee is also Phang Nga Bay and it takes roughly a 2-hour boat ride to be reached from Phuket.

5. Racha Islands

Racha Islands is an archipelago which consists of two twin islands: Koh Racha Yai (meaning “big”) and Koh Racha Noi (meaning “small”).

6. Coral Island

Coral Island is locally known as Koh Hae. It’s the perfect getaway destination for people looking to snorkel. Snorkeling in the highly popular Banana Beach (which is located right after a jungle) and Long Beach is a must, as the fauna underwater is absolutely astounding: parrot-fishes, trumpet fishes, butterflyfishes and many more await to be seen!

Coral Island is located just 10 kilometers south of Phuket. By boat, it takes about 30 minutes from Phuket.

7. Maiton Island

Maiton is a stunning tropical island with golden sand, crystal clear water and magnificent palm trees. It is, of course, possible to snorkel and dive in its waters, but the area is most known for dolphin watching. Also, the island is of rare beauty and because it is private-owned, nature has been very well preserved.

Maiton is located 10 kilometers south of Phuket. It can take between 30 to 45 minutes to reach the islands.

8. Koh Lanta

Koh Lanta is the perfect compromise for people who don’t like destinations that are too touristic nor too wild. Indeed, the island is so big that even in high seasons, it’s easy to find empty beaches. A godsend!

Railay Beach is located on a peninsula in the Krabi province. It’s not an island since it’s attached to mainland Thailand. However, the tall limestone cliffs that surround it make it impossible for it to be connected with any roads and it is only accessible by boat. Thus, you will enjoy an island vibe.

The area is most famous for rock climbing, kayaking and of course, scuba diving.

Railay Beach is located about 50 kilometers east of Phuket in the Krabi region and it can be reached by speedboat.

Similan Islands are located approximately 90 kilometers northwest of Phuket and it takes about 1 and half hour to be reached from Phuket by speedboat. The boat tours mostly leave from the northern part of Phuket.

12. Surin Islands

Surin Island is most famous for being a great spot for diving, snorkeling, hiking and fishing!

Start by heading to Pansea Beach with its beautiful white sand. It is a remote beach in the northern part of Surin Islands which could make the perfect getaway for couples. Then, if visiting in November, watch an elephant parade during the Elephant Round-up festival. Do not miss the Ban Buthom Basketry Village where beautiful handmade baskets whose fabrication technique is ancestral will be available to shop.

Surin Islands are located approximately 150 kilometers northwest of Phuket, but they can still be reached with a day trip from Phuket, leaving early in the morning. Being farther away from Phuket, Surin Islands are less packed with tourists.

13. Koh Jum/Koh Pu

Koh Jum (also known as Koh Puh in the northern part) is an island located in Thailand’s west coast. The area isn’t very touristy, which makes it a destination of choice for connoisseurs! Sunbathing, diving, snorkeling, hiking and even motorbiking, the possibilities there are endless!

Koh Jum has a total of 9 beaches to explore: Banyan Bay, Coconut Beach, North Beach, Tin Rai Beach, Magic Beach, Ao Si Beach, Golden Pearl Beach, Freedom Beach and finally, Freedom Beach. A great tip, if the adventurous kind, would be to rent a scooter to explore them all!

Koh Jum/Koh Puh is located approximately 70 kilometers east of Phuket. It’s roughly a one hour and 30 minutes boat ride from Phuket.

14. Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai

Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai are two islands located right in the middle of Phang Nga Bay. It is way less crowded than Phuket and should be a nice getaway! While Koh Yao Noi is starting to develop, Koh Yao Yai remains a haven of peace. The islands are ideal for kayaking, hiking, snorkeling, swimming and most interestingly, agricultural demonstrations.

Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai are located approximately 20km northeast of Phuket. It is roughly a one-hour ride from Phuket depending on the boat taken and from where it is taken.

15. Coconut Island

Coconut Island, also known as Koh Maphrao, is a small isle of only 500 residents. It is not a very touristy destination and, except for private generators, there isn’t even electricity. The island is mostly beach and jungle with long-tailed macaques.

The place is thus not touristic at all and will appeal if it’s wished to get a glimpse of authentic local life. Indeed, it’s a real blast from the past as it seems the modern world has spared this. The contrast between Coconut Island and Phuket is just flagrant!

Coconut Island is probably the shortest boat tour from Phuket. Located just 500 meters east of Phuket, it’s roughly a 5-minute boat ride.
