Candlelight 2022 map & activities, candlelight 2022 social narrative.

In a continuing effort to make Tryon Palace and its programs accessible and welcoming to everyone, we are pleased to announce new accessibility additions for Candlelight 2022. A social narrative has been created to help anyone, regardless of age, prepare for Candlelight’s sights, sounds, and programming. This tool is not only designed to help children who have sensory processing issues, but also any individual who is neurodivergent, or has intellectual and developmental disabilities. It serves to make them familiar with the details and happenings at Candlelight, so that they can prepare for specific areas and times that might be of concern. Find the Candlelight Social Story HERE.

Tryon Palace realizes that events like Candlelight involve many people near each other, and many things happening at once. This can be overwhelming to individuals who are sensitive to sensory stimuli. For those attendees who may need a place to get away, Tryon Palace will also offer a calming room – quiet space with calming elements. If a family needs to use the calming room, they simply need to inform a member of the Palace staff. Palace staff can always be found by the Palace front gates.

These new initiatives are part of Tryon Palace’s ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion. We have the honor and responsibility to tell all the stories that make up New Bern and Eastern North Carolina’s history, and we want every guest on our site to be able to have access to that history and feel a sense of belonging.

If you are planning to attend Candlelight at Tryon Palace and need accessibility accommodations, please reach out to Matt Arthur, [email protected] , 252-639-3587

I have received the impression that it is best to have a tour lined up, if you have limited time and really want to see the Armory Palace and Diamond Fund. It looks like this is the only way to confirm you have tickets.

Is this correct? Is there a way to get tickets, on line, for a particular day and time?

If not, any suggestions for reasonably priced tours? My husband and I will be traveling with our 2 children.

Below is the schedule of the places of your interest. Unfortunately there is no on-line option to buy a ticket. You can go inside of the Kremlin and to the museums individually. There is no need to buy the whole tour.

Prices for foreigners will be 350 rubles per ticket.

The Kremlin and its museums are open daily, except Thursday, from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m.

The Armory Museum works according to seances: 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m.

The ticket offices work daily, except Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. till 4 p.m.

Thanks for the information.

We would prefer not to have to go on a tour but want to make sure we can get the tickets.

Also, we hear the Bolshoi Theater is being renovated. Will it be finished by August? How hard is it to get tickets?

Sure, you can get tickets on the day or the day before of your tour.

As for Bolshoi - I am afraid the renovation will not be finished until then.

Thanks. The books I have suggest that there are a limited number of spots and it is best to have this reserved in advance.

I feel much better.....

What about the Diamond Fund? Is is difficult to get tickets?

There is a 1,5 hour bus tour from Red Square -do not bother with that one. It is rushed, the guide left us at one of the stops. I left an expensive jacket on the bus and we had to grab a taxi and do "Follow that Bus" thing. I yelled at the guide once we cought up with him, he just shrugged.

there is not a problem to get tickets for the Diamond Fund..go see the Faberge Dom also! and the Annunciation ..they are a sight to behold

best of luck and please enjoy your time!

  19. Tours of the Kremlin

Hi. I just responded to your St. Petersburg question, and thought I would chime in on this one. I am not much for guided tours, but for your purposes, with only two days in Moscow, I would consider investing in a private one-day tour (tour guide and minivan driver) to see the major sights in Moscow, the Kremlin and the kremlin museums you mentioned.
