Virtual Book Tours

Thank you for visiting Book Marketing and Promotion Ideas to learn more about Virtual Book Tours. Below you will find a list of 30+ Top Virtual Book Tours that will be extremely useful with the promotion of your book. Virtual Book Tours are sometimes called, Book Blog Tours or Virtual Author Tours. They can also include book cover and synopsis, book excerpts, book giveaways, book reviews, character interviews, contests, cover reveal, guest blog posts, interviews, podcasts or radio show appearances, social network events, video content posted by blogs and webinars. Every book tour site differs in the genres they promote, venues, and the type of content.

Fifty Plus Top Virtual Book Tours Publicity Website List

A Powerful Promotional Tool for Authors!

Virtual Book Tours or Book Blog Tours consist of numerous bloggers to review or interview you about your upcoming or published book. The blogger or publicity website will publish the review or interview on their blog or website. They will make it available to their hundreds or thousands of followers. This is how they will generate buzz for your book.

Virtual Book Tours are typically done as part of the launch of a new book. After your book has been published or even on the market for a while you can still start a virtual book tour and still have a successful promotion. You know when the publicity pays off because it creates sales for your book and revenue in your pocket. Some of the virtual book tours I have done in the past didn't monetarily pay off well, but in the end they did generate book buzz.

Make sure you take advantage of everything that virtual book tour sites offer. Use the virtual book tour sites that offer a different variety of promotional tools. Thoroughly review each virtual book tour site to make sure your book will fit in with their genre and it suits the type of book promotion and price you are looking for. Make sure you give the blog host a complimentary copy of your book. With my book, Jamie's Pet, I give them a copy of the book and a couple of days later I heard back. They told me "It would be a honor for them to do a book review, author review, or a book reading." That is when you know you have a good book. You have hooked the blog host and now you have to hook their readers into buying your book.

You don't need to do all virtual book tours and book blog tours at once. Pick out one or two virtual book tours a month or every two weeks depending on your financial situation. Make sure they offer different promotional tools. You don't want duplicate book tours at the same time. You want to make sure that you cover the book market with different book offerings, book giveaways, book reviews, book and author interviews, spotlight radio interviews, podcasts, webinars that create wonderful book buzz. Once you are finished with the guest blog interview or book review and it has been added to the host blog's website, you need to link back from your website to their website. Your next step is to share with your social media networks and the host blog website shares with their social media networks. This is how your book buzz and audience grow.

Building an audience for your book will take a lot of energy, planning, time, and don't forget patience. Do what will feel comfortable for you and stay within your promotional and marketing budget. That is the key. Don't get carried away because virtual book tours are just one portion of your promotional and marketing plan and campaign. With the virtual book tours I don't follow the normal rule where you just concentrate on book tours for two to four weeks. I do them throughout the year until I do them all. As an author you are always trying to find new ways, old ways to promote and market your book. You are not doing it for weeks then waiting for the money to roll in. Remember, you need to create book buzz 24 hours a day even when you are sleeping. That is why virtual book tours are a powerful promotional tool for authors because they create book buzz while you are sleeping.

More valuable information on the Book Marketing and Promotion Ideas page that will help your book or company.

I am leaving the websites I found where the 'Page No Longer Exists", so you don't keep going to them thinking you haven't seen this one. I think my long-term memory is going. When searching the internet, I would come across some of them thinking I never saw them before until I open up their home page again. So, I started a list and now I don't have to go to them anymore.

I hope you find this information helpful in your marketing and promoting adventure. I decided not to charge for this information as other people do. The only form of payment I want is for you to purchase my book, Jamie's Pet children's paperback book available on Amazon only if you want to. It is your way of paying it forward. Remember, please leave a review where you bought the book.

All companies and individuals are encouraged to read and understand each service, their policies, and then decide if they are the right fit for you.

20 Best Ticket Websites for Booking Tours, Activities, Excursions, and Attractions in 2024

Best Websites for Activities, Excursions, Tours and Tickets

Tours, guided activities, and excursions are, for many travelers, one of the best ways to experience a new destination. Often, a local guide will take you around, show you the sights, and let you in on local-only know-how. You get more info than you might from a guidebook or travel blog. And the best part? You hardly need to do any planning. Just book your tour or activity online and you’re done. So, all that’s left on your end is to show up.

However, you do have to do the work of finding that great tour or excursion. Therefore, for that, we look to some of the travel industry’s best ticket websites. There are a lot of them out there.

Go with one of these 20 best options. That will ensure you’re purchasing tickets from reputable sellers only. (And that way, you’re not left stranded in a foreign country! You won’t be wondering where your guide’s gone off to!)

Table of Contents

Viator

Screenshot: viator.com

Owned by TripAdvisor, Viator is one of the more popular options for booking tours and excursions . You can find experiences and tours at a very wide range of attractions. There are an impressive number of international and national destinations.

Viator doesn’t operate its tours, though. Instead, it’s more of the middleman that connects you with the local tour operators in a given destination. That does come with a little risk. However, Viator is known for being very reputable and trustworthy. Therefore, it’s not as much of a risk as you might think.

Cancel Policy: The Viator cancel policy will differ. As such, this difference is according to the experience you book. The policy will range from free cancellation to “strict.” Under free cancellation, you get a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before your ticket’s start time. Under the “strict” policy, you have to cancel seven full days before your experience’s start time. If you do, you’ll get a full refund.

  • Many tickets come with free cancellation.
  • Viator offers 24/7 customer support.
  • A Reserve Now & Pay Later feature allows you to do just that.
  • This is one place where you’ll find a LOT of options.

Cons:

  • The “free” cancellation isn’t necessarily 100% free (time limits apply).

2. GetYourGuide

GetYourGuide

Screenshot: getyourguide.com

GetYourGuide is very similar to Viator. As such, it focuses on a lot of tours and experiences. It’s not just about straight-up attraction tickets. Unlike Viator, though, GetYourGuide isn’t just a third-party booking site. It also offers its own collection of experiences. These are called GetYourGuide Originals. These tours are more customized. Frankly, they’re better than what you might find elsewhere. When you book one of these tours, you get more flexibility in rescheduling and canceling. The tours are also capped at 25 people.

GetYourGuide offers tickets for more than 60,000 experiences around the world.

Cancel Policy: Most GetYourGuide experiences come with a 24-hour cancellation policy. This means you can cancel up to 24 hours before your ticket’s start time.

  • This site offers lots of tour and experience options, all over the world.
  • You can find special, GetYourGuide Original tours for an upgraded experience. These are not third-party.
  • The third-party providers, however, must be legal, insured businesses, to list on the site. This may give you a little more peace of mind.
  • GetYourGuide offers 24/7 customer service.
  • You’ll notice that GetYourGuide Original tours are capped at 25 people. That’s intended to be … intimate? In other words, if you like small tours, you might not find them as easily here.

The Vacationer Tip

While you are planning your excursions, tours, and activities for your trip, please read our other guides:

  • Best Websites to Book Cheap Flights & Airfare

Tiqets

Screenshot: tiqets.com

Tiqets is a good third-party option to buy tickets for specific attractions. However, it’s not a good option for booking tours. Instead, think of museums, historic sites, etcetera. Don’t expect to find customizable, one-on-one tours or bookable airport transfers here.

Furthermore, Tiqets is a good option if you want to browse various attractions in one destination and do all of your ticket bookings in one place. (Versus going to each attraction’s website individually and booking that way.)

Cancel Policy: When you purchase a ticket through Tiqets, you’ll have the option to choose a “free cancellation” ticket. If you book this, you’ll have free cancellation up to midnight the day before your reserved ticket.

  • Easily book all of your attraction tickets for one destination in one place.
  • Access all of your tickets from your phone.
  • Enjoy flexible cancellation that a particular attraction might not otherwise offer.
  • Tiqets offers 24/7 customer support.
  • You can buy some tickets without set dates. This lets you be more flexible with your travel itinerary.
  • Tiqets only really offers tickets in major international destinations.
  • For free cancellation, you have to choose the “free cancellation” option. This is available when making your ticket purchase.

StubHub

Screenshot: stubhub.com

Third-party ticket provider StubHub focuses on events . As such, this can be great if you’re looking to attend a concert, theatrical show, or sports game. However, do note that StubHub sells tickets from existing ticket holders. The tickets are not directly from the venue or event. Accordingly, this comes with its pros and cons. On one hand, you might pay more for a particularly in-demand event. A ticket holder might be attempting to flip their ticket for a profit. On the other hand, if someone’s desperate to sell a ticket they don’t plan on using, you could get your ticket for a great deal.

Cancel Policy: You cannot cancel, or receive a refund on, a transaction on StubHub once it’s been completed. In response, the website recommends reselling your ticket on the site if you decide you no longer want or need it.

  • You can sometimes snag great deals on StubHub. You can likewise find tickets to sold-out events.
  • All ticket sellers are verified. You’re not relying on unscrupulous scalpers.
  • There are no refunds and no cancellations.

5. TripAdvisor Attractions

TripAdvisor

Screenshot: tripadvisor.com

We know what you’re thinking. “TripAdvisor? Attractions? You told me that Viator sold tickets for TripAdvisor!”

And while that’s true, TripAdvisor also has its own, separate third-party ticket marketplace. It operates very similarly to Viator. But, it comes with all the benefits of TripAdvisor. When you view an available activity on TripAdvisor Attractions , you’ll see all the need-to-know info about an attraction or tour, plus reviews. If you decide you want to book something, you can do so in literally a matter of seconds.

Cancel Policy: Most tickets allow for a full refund up to 24 hours ahead of your experience.

  • Firstly, there are lots of options to choose from, in a lot of destinations, even small ones.
  • Secondly, you can get free cancellation in most cases.
  • Thirdly, you’ll see that most listings include reviews and substantial info on any attraction you’re considering.
  • TripAdvisor Attractions does lump in non-ticketed attractions with its ticketed attractions. Things can get confusing.

6. Expedia Activities

Expedia

Screenshot: expedia.com

You likely know Expedia as the place to go for booking flights and hotel rooms. However, did you know that Expedia also offers tour booking and event tickets?

Unfortunately, the third-party provider’s activities section isn’t quite as searcher-friendly as you might hope. This is because everything is grouped by destination, not necessarily tour types.

Additionally, you won’t find many experiences in small destinations on offer. However, what you will find is very affordable. In fact, costs are as low as $7 per ticket in some cases.

Cancel policy: Cancellation policies differ according to the activity you book. As such, some activities offer free cancellation within a certain period. However, some charge you an additional fee for canceling.

  • Find cheap experiences in mid-size and large destinations.
  • Browse for activities at the same time you book your flight and hotel.
  • You won’t find attractions in many small destinations.
  • The booking platform (at least where activities are concerned) isn’t that user-friendly.

Click Here to See Cheap Activity, Excursion, and Ticket Deals at Expedia

7. Kayak Things to Do

Screenshot: kayak.com

Similar to Expedia, Kayak also offers “things to do” tickets . This is in addition to the flights, hotel rooms, car rentals, and train and bus tickets the site offers. Further reading: See our complete guide to booking travel with Kayak .

Likewise, Kayak does offer more experiences in off-the-beaten-path destinations. You can search for available experiences based on a range of factors. Beyond just location, you can also look for experiences based on accessibility and safety measures.

However, since the travel aggregator is a third-party ticket provider, it doesn’t always help you with the booking side of things. For booking an experience, you’ll be redirected to whatever individual tour provider is offering the tour. Once you’re there, you can find more information. Sometimes, though, that information differs from what Kayak provides.

Cancel policy: Kayak only points you to experience and tour operators. As such, it does not help you book. Because of this, the cancellation policy will entirely depend on the individual provider.

  • You can search for a wide variety of experiences in a wide variety of destinations.
  • You can look for things to do at the same time as you book the rest of your travel.
  • You can’t book your experience directly on Kayak. You have to book elsewhere.

Click Here to See Cheap Activity, Excursion, and Ticket Deals at Kayak

8. Travelocity Activities

Travelocity

Screenshot: travelocity.com

Owned by Expedia, Travelocity similarly offers an “Activities” booking feature.

Many of the above ticket booking platforms allow you to browse through a range of options, to get inspiration. You don’t need to pick a destination. Travelocity, however, does force you to pick where you’re going, as well as dates. This is a bit limiting. That’s especially the case if you’re in the middle of planning your trip and are pretty flexible.

Still, if you pick your date and city, you’ll find … That you’re led to a booking page that’s almost identical to what Expedia offers on its Activities page. You’ll find the same tours and the same prices. Using one or the other all comes down to whether you prefer Travelocity or Expedia.

Cancel policy: Just like with Expedia, cancellation policies differ. The difference is according to the activity you book. Because of this, some activities offer free cancellation within a certain period. Some, though, do charge you an additional fee for canceling.

  • You can find an array of cheap activities and tours in top travel destinations.
  • You won’t find many available tours or activities in lesser-known destinations.

9. Orbitz Activities

Orbitz

Screenshot: orbitz.com

Likewise, Orbitz , another Expedia-owned travel aggregator, features an identical setup. You pick where you’re going and the dates you’ll be there. Orbitz will show you the same tour options in the same format. You’ll also see the same search functionality.

So, again, whether you choose to use Orbitz, Expedia, or Travelocity, you’re going to have the same experience across all three platforms. The only reason why you might choose one over the others is if you’ve already booked other parts of your travel with one of them. Then, it makes sense to continue booking your experiences with that platform. That way, you have all of your travel details in one place.

Cancel Policy: Cancellation policies differ according to the activity you book. Some activities offer free cancellation within a certain period. Some charge you an additional fee for canceling.

  • You can find an array of cheap activities and tours in top travel destinations.
  • Additionally, if you’ve already booked your flights and hotel with Orbitz, booking your activities here will keep things streamlined.
  • You’re out of luck finding something to do unless you’re staying in a known travel destination.

10. Musement

Musement

Screenshot: musement.com

You can probably take a quick look at this platform’s name and guess exactly what it specializes in. Musement focuses on museums , of course. Then, it also offers tours and tickets to attractions like theme parks. You can choose between open tickets and set time tickets, depending on the attraction. Some tours even include transportation services.

Cancel Policy: Musement is a third-party booking platform. Cancellation policies are left up to the individual service provider.

  • Find thousands of experiences in top destinations all around the world.
  • Custom tours are available.
  • Customer service is available 24/7.
  • Many experiences are available in multiple languages. Some include other fun perks like skip-the-line.
  • Musement requires you to print your tickets. This isn’t exactly convenient while traveling.

11. Civitatis

Civitatis

Screenshot: civitatis.com

Civitatis was originally founded as a tour and experiences provider for Spanish-speaking travelers. However, now, you can find a range of experiences available.

This is a third-party platform.

Depending on where you are in the world, you’ll notice that the platform pushes experiences in your supposed language. This makes the platform a good option for those who travel abroad quite frequently. More specifically, it’s good if you need experiences in a certain language.

The platform mostly specializes in typical tourist activities in major international destinations. One cool feature, though? You’ll find free tours and activities. These are in addition to the paid options.

Cancel Policy: The cancellation policy will differ according to the individual tour or activity provider.

  • Find activities in your language in major destinations.
  • Browse and book free tours and activities.
  • You won’t find that many options in smaller destinations. You also won’t find many off-the-beaten-path activities.

12. Ticketbar

TicketBar

Screenshot: ticketbar.eu

Go to the Ticketbar website. There, you’ll automatically notice a difference between this booking platform and some of the other options on this list. Ticketbar is admittedly a little outdated. However, with its European focus, you can find a wealth of activities in smaller European destinations. Think from Andalusia to Delft. You might not find these on the bigger, international platforms.

Looking for private tours, combo tickets, attraction tickets, nightlife experiences, or airport transfers? They’re all available via this third-party seller. Many are available for a discount.

Cancel Policy: The cancellation policy will differ. The difference is according to the experience you book.

  • Find tours and discounted tickets in both large and small European destinations.
  • The website is a little clunky. There’s not a ton of information on it. Just in the planning stages of your trip? You might not find all the info you need here, before booking.

13. TourScanner

TourScanner

Screenshot: tourscanner.com

Want to compare and contrast various tours and travel activities on one platform? TourScanner is a good place to go . The travel aggregator compiles tour and activity tickets. It pulls the available options from more than 30 different booking sites. From there, you can pick the best activity and the best price for your trip.

TourScanner is a third-party platform. This means you do have to book your activity directly with the provider, not TourScanner. You’ll also be subject to their cancellation policies and their rules. TourScanner is just the place to go for your research and window shopping.

Cancel Policy: The cancellation policy will differ according to the experience you book. As a result, the policy will be the provider’s cancellation policy, not TourScanner’s.

  • Find activities and tickets from more than 30 other sites, in one spot.
  • You can’t book with TourScanner directly.

14. TourRadar

TourRadar

Screenshot: tourradar.com

TourRadar is a great place to go if you’re looking specifically for multi-day, guided tours. You can browse tour options based on location and dates. You can also browse by tour types. Tour type options include themed experiences such as trekking or cultural, or even river cruises. There are tours available all over the world. You’ll likewise find frequent tour sales and private tours available.

TourRadar is a third-party platform. However, it does work with a variety of operators who are vetted and well-reviewed.

Cancel Policy: The cancel policy will differ according to the tour provider you book with.

  • Find multi-day tours all over the world. Additionally, many are from vetted tour providers.
  • You’ll get access to 24/7 customer service. Furthermore, the customer service has been highly reviewed as some of the best in the travel biz.
  • Enjoy access to frequent tour sales and a best price guarantee.
  • If you’re not looking for a multi-day experience, go elsewhere.

15. Klook Travel

Klook Travel

Screenshot: klook.com

Originally started in Asia, Klook Travel now offers a growing number of experiences and travel services. They are available in a range of worldwide destinations. Go beyond just booking tours and experiences. Klook also allows you to purchase car rentals, train tickets, airport transfers, and even WiFi and SIM cards.

In addition to the website, there’s also an incredibly convenient Klook app.

Cancel Policy: The cancel policy differs according to what experience you book. Many offer free cancellation within a certain timeframe. That might be 48 hours ahead of your experience or 72 hours ahead of your experience.

  • Klook offers the ability to book way more than just experiences. The platform probably has the greatest variety of offerings out of any of the platforms on our list.
  • The Klook app makes booking and managing your travel even easier.
  • You’ll mostly find offerings in Asia and Europe. There is, though, a growing number of activities in major international destinations elsewhere.

16. WithLocals

WithLocals

Screenshot: withlocals.com

If you prefer a more hands-on approach, WithLocals might be one of the better travel experiences for you. With hosts in more than 100 worldwide cities, WithLocals provides experiences and tours led and hosted by locals. The experiences and tours are always private, too. Hosts focus on off-the-beaten-path, personalized experiences. It’s not about the tourist traps. Think of a private food tour in Amsterdam or a neighborhood tour of Paris’s Montmartre.

Cancel Policy: You can reschedule your experience, multiple times, up to the day of your experience. You can cancel entirely for free and receive a 100% refund up to seven days before your experience.

  • Enjoy private, personalized tours and off-the-beaten-path experiences.
  • Tours are only available in limited cities and the cancellation policy is a bit strict.

17. Thrillophilia

Thrillophilia

Screenshot: thrillophilia.com

Third-party platform Thirllophilia will connect you with more than 12,000 activities. These are from more than 5,000 suppliers in more than 125 destinations. However, it is worth noting that the site heavily focuses on Asian countries. So, this is a great place to go to find experiences if you’re heading to that side of the planet. It’s not so great if you’re traveling elsewhere.

Thrillophilia partners with an admirable range of reputable providers. These might include national tourist boards or Uber, Airbnb, or Marriott. In addition to booking activities and tours, the platform also gives you the option to book rentals and staycations. It also offers a handy gifting feature.

Cancel policy: All purchases and reservations are final and non-refundable. This is according to Thrillophilia’s terms and conditions.

  • Find a huge number of activities and experiences in Asian countries.
  • This is one of the only tour and experience-booking platforms where you can gift an experience to a fellow traveler.
  • In addition to booking experiences, you can also book homestays and rentals.
  • You won’t find many experience options outside of Asia.
  • The cancel policy is unforgiving, to say the least.

18. Manawa by Adrenaline Hunter

Manawa

Screenshot: manawa.com

Manawa by Adrenaline Hunter is a niche third-party provider. But, if you’re looking for its particular niche, you’re in luck. This is your place to go to book high-energy, intense, extreme activities. Think shark diving, skydiving, caving, or heliskiing.

Of course, not everything is quite that extreme. You can also find more low-key adventures, like sailing or fat biking. However, in general, everything will be an active adventure. There are more than 5,000 bookable experiences in destinations all over the globe.

Cancel policy: The cancel policy ranges from super-flexible to super-strict, depending on what you book. If your activity has the “super-flexible” policy, you can cancel up to 24 hours before your activity and get a full refund. If your activity has the “super-strict” policy, you must cancel 90 days in advance of your activity to get a full refund. If you cancel less than 30 days in advance of your activity, you’ll receive no refund. Any cancellations between 30 and 90 days will warrant refunds in varying amounts.

  • Find niche adventure experiences all over the world.
  • If you’re not into this niche, you’re not going to find much of interest.

19. Airbnb Experiences

Airbnb

Screenshot: airbnb.com

If you already use Airbnb for booking your travel accommodations, you might want to check out the platform’s various bookable experiences. You can book not only local-hosted experiences in a travel destination but also online experiences if you want to go the virtual route.

Experiences range vastly in terms of both price and subject matter. From goat cuddling to sailing, food tours to cycling tours, you’ll find a bit of it all. Tours and experiences are either private or in small groups. The focus is often on things you wouldn’t be able to do on your own, as a traveler in a new destination.

Cancel policy: To cancel your experience and get a refund, you have to go through your experience host to request a refund. If they do not grant a refund or if they do not grant a refund in an amount to your satisfaction, you’ll have to submit a claim to Airbnb.

  • Many travelers already have experience booking accommodations with Airbnb, so booking an experience is a comfortable next step. This is especially the case if you’re wary of working with a provider that you may not have heard of before.
  • You’ll find unique tour and activity options, led by locals, in small or private settings.
  • Canceling your experience can be a really big hassle that will depend on your host and how agreeable they may or may not be.

20. Atlas Obscura

Atlas Obscura

Screenshot: atlasobscura.com

You know Atlas Obscura. It’s the place to go for all your random, weird, travel facts and tidbits. But this publication also offers guided trips, with multi-day tours focusing on a range of topics, from arts and culture to wildlife and nature.

Each trip is carefully crafted to zoom in on what makes a destination special. Each brings in the local history and culture as much as possible, so you go deeper than just the surface-level tourist stuff.

Trips are conducted in English only and groups are kept small. A lot of the people who participate in the trips are solo travelers. The trips are a good fit for those who maybe want to explore with others, but who maybe don’t have anyone in their lives right now who’s up for an adventure.

Cancel Policy: You can cancel without penalty within seven days of booking, up until your final payment for the trip’s due date. After that final payment is made, you’ll have to pay a cancellation fee.

  • Enjoy small group travel tours led by a trusted travel publication.
  • Tours are kept as sustainable as possible.
  • You can easily make your entire trip one of these multi-day tours, for easier travel with less planning on your end.
  • These tours are mostly designed with younger, solo travelers in mind. They’re not a suitable option for families.
  • The tours can be on the pricier side, especially if you consider yourself a budget traveler.

When planning your trip, if you already know you want to visit a certain attraction — like a museum or theme park — booking your tickets in advance can save you time during your trip. (Because who wants to wait around in line when there’s travel fun to be had?)  Additionally, when you book with one of the above platforms, you can often save money by booking the best deals. You’ll also get to see the full range of options available to you, including some you may not have even known existed!

If you hate itinerary planning and just want to show up at a destination and have a great time, a multi-day tour may be perfect for you. The pros do all the work, so you have a unique and enjoyable experience, without the hassle of researching and booking everything on your own. Additionally, if you’re a solo traveler or a couple or a few friends who like to meet other travelers on your journeys, you’ll enjoy the small group environment a multi-day tour often provides.

If you like to go at your own pace, without any strict timelines or itineraries, you might not enjoy the structure of a multi-day travel tour. Likewise, if you don’t care about getting to know fellow travelers and like to go it alone, you may find the multi-day tour environment annoying. Additionally, some travelers just love all the planning and research leading up to a trip. If that’s you, you may have more fun planning your journey on your own.

TLC Book Tours

The Sky's The Limit...

TLC Book Tours is a virtual book tour site. Virtual book tours are a promotional tool for authors to connect with readers via well-read book blogs and specialty blogs.

TLC , founded by Trish Collins (the “T”) and Lisa Munley (the “L”), promises to treat our authors and their books with the Tender Loving Care they deserve!

At TLC, you can expect the highest level of customer service and attention to detail. With more than 30+ years combined customer relations, sales, and marketing background between them, Trish and Lisa are highly motivated professionals committed to getting the word out about your book and facilitating your virtual tour.

In addition to their professional backgrounds, Trish and Lisa are both passionate readers and former book bloggers.

To arrange a tour, or for further information, please contact us at [email protected] (Lisa) or [email protected] (Trish). We look forward to hearing from you!

Why use TLC?

It’s all about creating a buzz.

TLC Book Tours is a service providing online virtual book tours to authors. For a minimal amount of money, time, and travel, an author can gain exposure to thousands of potential readers.

Virtual book tours are a promotional tool for authors to connect with readers via blogs. We recruit 10 or 15 bloggers, depending on the tour package selected, to read and post a review of an author’s book on pre-selected dates over the course of one month. It is in this way that an author has a “tour” on the Internet.

At TLC Book Tours, we customize each tour.  Through an innovative mix of widely read book blogs and specialty blogs, we seek to reach a targeted audience that would be predisposed to enjoying your book.  We work closely with authors to determine their target market and rely on their input.  We’ve built relationships with hundreds of bloggers and are constantly making new connections every day.

Every tour stop is different.  Some include interviews, author guest posts, or giveaways. Some just review the book.  The incentive for a blogger to host a tour (aside from a free book) is access to the author through email.  We encourage author involvement!

Authors have reported increased traffic on their websites from our tours and an upswing in their amazon rankings.  It’s hard to gauge the direct impact on sales, but there is always a ripple effect from our tours.  Other bloggers hear about a book, seek it out, and read and review it weeks or months later, starting the cycle all over again.  If tour hosts hold giveaways, then a book can get into the hands of even more bloggers, increasing an author’s online exposure and the buzz surrounding their book even further.

Internet publicity has become a tremendous tool for authors in this tight economy due in part to its cost effectiveness, but also due to the trend of how people get their information.  As newspapers around the country face bankruptcy and book review sections in print shrink or disappear, there are fewer resources available to authors to get the word out about their work.  People turn to the Internet for their news and information, taking their internet connections with them everywhere they go via iPhones, Blackberrys, PDAs, laptops, etc.  One of the biggest advantages to a virtual tour vs. a ‘real life’ tour is that the book’s reviews live on in search engines and blog archives indefinitely- for the life of the blog.  A book needs to have an online presence if it is to be noticed, and TLC Book Tours is here to help your book achieve that presence.

We accept payment by cash, check, or credit card via PayPal.

Virtual Book Tours: 14 Must-See Strategies from Authors

November 17, 2020 by Leila Hirschfeld

Virtual Book Tours: 14 Must-See Strategies from Authors

Book tours are a traditional promotional tactic for authors when launching a new book. With the COVID-19 crisis making in-person promotional events unsafe, authors have been finding creative ways to circumvent the pandemic’s challenges and interact with fans. One tactic helping them connect with readers is virtual book tours!

To help you plan and publicize your own virtual book tour events, we’ve compiled a list of strategies we’ve seen authors use when launching their virtual tours. While missing out on IRL tours might be a bummer, there are many benefits of online events beyond just saving on travel expenses. Going virtual provides greater accessibility, allowing more people to tune in than ever before and leading to great opportunities for fan engagement.

We hope the following examples provide inspiration for your book marketing and reader outreach approach when launching a new book, both during the pandemic and beyond.

1. Add the event schedule to your author website

Many authors add their complete virtual tour schedules to their author websites. Making the full schedule easy to find helps them keep their tours organized and helps readers see which events are the best fit for them — both in terms of timing and interest in topic or co-speaker.

Yamile Saied Méndez added her virtual tour schedule to the Events page of her website. She has a drop-down filter for event type so someday readers can distinguish between in-person and virtual events.

Virtual Tour Schedule

On her website’s Events page , C Pam Zhang divided her book tour schedule by past and upcoming virtual appearances.

2. Post the virtual book tour schedule on social media

Announcing virtual tour stops on social media has been another popular tactic for authors promoting their book events. Various social media platforms enable writers to share their most important news directly with fans.

Jodi Picoult shared her schedule on Twitter, tagging all the authors making appearances at her events. Tagging those you collaborate with helps their names stand out to your audience and makes it easier for them to reshare your news!

Virtual Book Tour Schedule Twitter

Meg Cabot shared her virtual book tour schedule on Facebook, linking fans to register on her website. Meg’s tour included a variety of events, including a watch party for a movie based on one of her previous books!

3. Answer fans’ logistical questions

People are still getting used to the new reality of virtual events, so it can be extra helpful to answer questions fans might have about the logistics of a book tour.

V.E. Schwab answered many questions about her virtual tour in her announcement post, including those about the format, international tour dates, and more.

Logistical Questions for Virtual Book Tour

At in-person events, readers had the option to buy books on-site. When one reader commented on Alyssa Rosenheck ’s virtual book tour announcement with a question about purchasing her new book, the author promptly responded with a helpful answer.

Logistical Questions for Virtual Book Tour 2

4. Host a virtual book club

Some authors looking for a conversational atmosphere have hosted a book club series or joined book club sessions. These events provide them the chance to interact closely with fans and hear their thoughts on their book.

Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi hosted a digital club to discuss their book on antiracism. In this series, Reynolds and Kendi engaged with a different chapter each week. These authors used Eventbrite to organize their book club.

Virtual Book Tour Book Club

Ruta Sepetys took part in a series of virtual book club gatherings to discuss her new novel. When people purchased the book through a participating independent bookstore, they got an exclusive discussion guide with behind-the-scenes insights, photographs, and recipes inspired by the book as well as the opportunity to talk directly with Ruta.

5. Share recaps from early tour stops to build buzz for upcoming ones

While authors might not be able to pose for photos with fans anymore, there’s still plenty they can share from virtual events. Many authors have posted fun photos and anecdotes from past appearances, which could get readers excited for upcoming tour stops.

Virtual Book Tour Recap 1

Middle grade and YA author Aisha Saeed thanked readers on Instagram for tuning in to her virtual book tour event and let her audience know where they could buy a signed, personalized copy.

Virtual Book Tour Recap 2

Health care reformer Rosemarie Day shared a screenshot of her first virtual book tour event. She highlighted the success of the session, declaring that it indicated “distance socializing” could work well!

6. Host a virtual party

Several authors have added festive elements to their virtual book tours to make their events more interactive and celebratory. While one can’t host in-person parties right now, digital parties let authors and their readers engage in fun conversations.

Christina Baker Kline hosted an after-party following her main book tour conversation. The event page advertised the party as an intimate chance to ask Christina “everything you always wanted to know but didn’t ask during the event.”

Virtual Book Tour After-Party

Former prosecutor and legal thriller writer Marcia Clark hosted a virtual happy hour to celebrate her new release. She encouraged fans to bring a drink to the discussion.

Virtual Book Tour Happy Hour

She posted a lively event photo on Instagram along with a link to the recorded event so fans could join in on the party even if they missed it the first time around.

7. Ask fellow authors to help launch your book

Many authors recruit help from other writers to interview them for their book launch events, creating an extra draw for people to tune in to virtual tour stops. Additionally, when well-known authors in conversation with newer authors share event details with their own audiences, it can help attract new fans to the newer author’s writing.

One of J. Courtney Sullivan ’s book tour stops was a conversation between her and Lily King , who shared event details on her own Twitter. Accessing Lily’s audience gave additional exposure to Courtney’s new release.

Virtual Book Tour Interviewer Post

8. Team up with another author to discuss both of your books

Some authors have partnered with a fellow author on virtual book tour events to market both of their books. A major perk is that a fan of one author might leave the event a fan of both authors.

Brit Bennett and Megha Majumdar teamed up for a Zoom conversation on both of their new releases.

Teaming Up for Virtual Book Tour

9. Partner with bookstores

Virtual book tours provide a fabulous chance to support independent bookstores. Many authors have organized online events with independent bookshops and encouraged their fans to buy their books from them.

Christopher Paolini planned virtual tour stops at numerous independent bookshops in the US and UK. He highlighted the involvement of these businesses in his website tour announcement, noting that his fans can see him at their “favorite bookstore” while staying safe at home.

Virtual Book Tour at Independent Bookstores

10. Add virtual book festivals to the tour

Virtual book festivals offer a great chance for authors to get their names out there, network with fellow authors, and reach new audiences. Now that many book festivals have moved online, they’re more accessible, without prohibitive costs and travel requirements.

Tiffany D. Jackson spoke at the Salem Literary Festival as the first stop of her book tour.

Virtual Book Festival Tour Stop

This year, the Unbound Book Festival rebranded as “Housebound Unbound” because of the need to cancel in-person gatherings. Historical fiction author Alex George organized the virtual book festival and discussed his new book at one of the digital events.

11. Host an online book signing

Some authors have created virtual book signing events. Readers can watch as the author adds a personal touch to their books while listening to insights they have to share about their work.

Educational writer Danica McKellar hosted a live signing of her new math guide, during which she autographed books while chatting about STEM and learning.

Virtual Book Signing

Singer-songwriter Tori Amos hosted a digital book signing on Facebook Live to celebrate the release of her memoir. She answered questions as she autographed copies of her book.

12. Write out answers to fan questions

Book tour stops don’t all have to involve video! Several virtual tours have involved written-out answers to reader questions as a method for authors to engage with fans and publicize their books.

N.K. Jemisin ’s publisher announced on their website that N. K.’s first digital tour stop would be answering reader questions through Goodreads’s “Ask an Author” feature.

N.K. wrote out thoughtful, personal answers to over 100 questions.

Virtual Book Tour Q&A

Gene Luen Yang went on an Instagram book tour as a cartoon version of himself. He discussed topics he would have delved into at in-person events and wrote out answers to fan questions, with an amusing cartoon twist.

Cartoon Virtual Book Tour 1

13. Post book tour videos on YouTube

Some authors have posted one-off book events or a full tour series on YouTube. Some benefits of this approach are that YouTube content stays on your channel so fans can tune in anytime, you can monetize these videos if you have a sizable following, and all tour videos can be in one easily accessible location.

Cookbook author Gaz Oakley gave YouTube viewers a look into his new vegan cookbook.

To help his fans navigate the video, he included timestamps for different topics in the comments section.

Virtual Book Tour on Youtube

Science writer and historian Amy Shira Teitel posted a series of virtual book tour events on her YouTube channel. Each video had a different discussion topic, such as this one covering details that didn’t make it into her book.

Out of Your Comfort Zone

The art of backpacking & adventures to get out of your comfort zone – tips and advice, 5 best websites to book tours, tickets & attractions around the world.

Last Updated on February 19, 2024 by Talita

The best websites to search, compare, and book attractions around the world. You can use these sites to buy tickets for museums, amusement and theme parks, excursions, tours, or any kind of travel activities you can do during your travels. They cover most countries, cities, and popular destinations around the world.

Travel Itinerary

Ever show up to join a tour or enter an attraction that you reaaaaally want to visit….only find out it’s full or that you could have gotten a 50% discount if you reserved a spot in advance?

Whether you’re a go-with-the-flow type of traveler or someone who likes to cram as much as they can into their trip, there’s a good chance you’ll need to book ahead sometimes.

The good news is that I found 5 great websites that will help you get the best deals to book tickets for tours, activities, and attractions worldwide.

Table of Contents

Why do I need a tour/activities website to help plan my trip?

Have you ever planned a trip and became exhausted from the amount of research you needed to find the best, most exciting activities….for the most reasonable cost ? Or maybe from trying to figure out how to can get into an incredible attraction you’ve heard so much about (like Machu Picchu or the Colosseum) without standing in those painfully long lines to get in?

Well, travel websites can help.

Not only can they show you what your options in a specific destination are, but they can help you do things like getting the best price, make sure you get a spot before things fill up, or find tickets that let you skip the line!

What can an attraction/tour website do for me?

With the websites recommended below, you can purchase tickets for events and attractions or schedule tours around your travel destination. And they can save you money, time and frustration by helping you make sense of all of the stuff out there.

These websites can also help you find the best prices for your budget, visit out of the way places, and make sure you get VIP access to the most sought-after places.

All of the tour and travel attraction websites I reviewed offer you the flexibility to plan your trip to fit your travel style and your budget. So whether you’re traveling with your family, craving a romantic trip, or want to have a blast with friends , one of these websites will work for you.

I’ve ranked the websites below in order based on the number of features and services each one offers. So all you have to do is take a few minutes to browse through all their activities, read the verified customer reviews, and then book the travel excursion you’re looking for.

How do these main websites to book attractions compare for one famous tour?

Below is a sample for the price of a single ticket/tour for the Empire State Building in New York City from the 5 websites I reviewed (including the bonus option).

This comparison I made takes into account the pandemic scenario of covid-19, so the value of tickets is standardized between sites. But as you can see, one site offers more tour options than the other, so I recommend doing a search on each one and see what activities are being offered normally and then see which one interests you the most.

Bringing another comparison, I searched for the guided tour to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and as you can see, the pandemic factor is still a complication for those who want to do tourism. The dates are varied depending on the site or the tour, so it’s good to research a lot!

The 5 best (and cheapest) websites to book tours, activities, attractions & tickets around the world

1. getyourguide.

If you’re looking for a website that’ll give you tons of options for attractions, tickets, excursions and ultimate experiences at your destination then GetYourGuide   is where you need to start your search.

It’s one of the largest tour sites in the world and they have over 60,000 activities to choose from worldwide (including tickets for the most popular attractions, the tastiest food , and the best nightlife).

The website also makes it easy to find activities no matter how much time you have during your trip – whether that’s 1 hour, or multiple days

One of the best features is their “front of the line” feature that lets you jump ahead of the long lines. You may still have to go through the security features depending on the attraction, but you’ll still save time and frustrations of being stuck in the crowd.

With each booking, you get a “best price guarantee” on tours and tickets. This means if you find a price that’s cheaper, they will refund you the difference. Not a bad deal!

You can also buy combination packages to experience more than one excursion on the same day. And if you have a question, the customer service specialists are online 24/7.

You can read through reviews and ratings from customers who’ve taken the tours you may be thinking about (which is always important so you know what you’re getting into!)

Tours around the world

What I like (the tl;dr summary):

  • Huge database of activities, attractions & tours (for both popular and off the beaten path destinations)
  • You can read customer reviews for each activity
  • 24/7 travel assistance
  • Customized packages that let you do multiple excursions on a single day
  • Best price guarantee (they’ll refund you the difference if you find the same tour/activity more cheaply elsewhere)
  • Free “know before you go” travel guides
  • Can pay for tickets in 1 of 13 different currencies (avoid those exchange fees!)
  • “Front of the line” feature
  • Can cancel most activities for free up to 24 hours before

What I didn’t like:

While most of the customer reviews I saw raved about the great experiences, there were a couple of complaints about poor organization and big crowds at some of the more popular attractions.

With their 17-year travel and tour track record, Viator is worth taking a look at as well.

On top of that, Viator belongs to TripAdvisor, one of the most famous travel websites in the world!

I like that you can purchase tickets for multiple attractions, including Broadway shows, holiday activities, and kid-friendly tours.

I also like the fact that you can book shopping and spa tours, as well as theme park tours, and save money during your Disney World or Universal vacation. At Viator, you can also buy airport transfers .

Like the other websites, they offer 24/7 global support and customer service. They also offer VIP tours which include behind-the-scenes access, private viewings, and ability to “skip the line.”

The website gives options in 13 languages and the ability to use 8 different currencies.

Book with Viator

  • Lots of attractions worldwide
  • Customizable travel packages
  • Offers airport transfers
  • Have some of the best prices I’ve seen
  • Offers kid-friendly tour packages
  • Can pay for tickets in 1 of 8 different currencies (avoid those exchange fees!)

To be honest, Viator is pretty awesome and I didn’t find anything worth mentioning here.

3. Civitatis

Civitatis has more than ten years in the market and was created by The Spanish Alberto Gutiérrez after a trip to Morocco. At the time, he came across the difficulty in hiring activities and services in Spanish and returned home with the brilliant idea of creating a website for tourist reservations over the Internet. The thing worked so well that the company became a leader in the sale of tours and activities in Spanish in the world! That’s a pretty interesting detail, isn’t it?

Another cool thing is that the site is very intuitive and easy to navigate. On the results page you can filter the options by availability, activity, price, duration and more. All activities receive many opinions and show the rating, origin of the visitor and whether he was in a group or alone. Then, you can analyze the tour and make the best decision, according to the amount of escorts.

In each attraction, the site also offers a topic of “Frequently asked questions”, which can quickly know about booking, cancellations, fees, important information, among others. As with the other websites listed, it also offers 24/7 customer support. And you also have the option to pay for tickets in 1 of the 8 different currencies available (saves on exchange rates).

excursions and activities in Japan

What I liked about Civitatis:

  • Interactive map showing all destinations around the world (+1,730)
  • Many attractions all over the world! It is possible to buy tickets to several different attractions, such as plays, tours or boat rental, balloon ride, among others.
  • It has some free activity options!
  • Most activities have free cancellation (but the deadline varies depending on the tour).
  • You can download tickets directly to your smartphone
  • Indicates whether the site you visit is accessible for people with reduced mobility.
  • Customizable and scripted travel packages for more than one day.

What I didn’t like about Civitatis:

I really liked Civitas and just found two points that maybe are not so cool. The site has eight languages, three variations of Spanish and on some tours, the guided tour is exclusive in a single language (or only Spanish, or only English…)

5% off Tiqets Coupon Code: RBBV5OFF

Just as the name implies, on this website you can buy tickets to popular attractions around the world. If you’re looking for a globetrotting experience at some of the world’s most popular museums, zoos, and attractions, you’ll want to check out his site. And if you are a history buff, you’ll want to check out some of their history-focused tours.

I loved the convenience of downloading your tickets right to your smartphone. Then, you don’t have to bother with losing paper tickets or trying to print them out. When you get to your location, just show your ticket on your phone and you’re in.

Like most of the websites I reviewed, this one also gives you 24/7 customer support from a multicultural and multilingual support team. You can order tickets in 7 languages and can use one of 10 currencies to pay for them.

The site also shows you hours of operation for each attraction, the best times to visit, and has the “skip the line” feature for many tours as well.

Sometimes, you can buy tickets for an attraction without a set date. For example, if you buy a ticket for New York’s Statue of Liberty, it’ll be valid for 2 years.

There are also featured “insider tips” from verified customers that give some bonus info about attractions you’re thinking of visiting.

Tiqets has been in business since 2013, and has their headquarters in Amsterdam .

Best city attractions

  • The offer lots of in-depth history tours – great for history fans!
  • You can download tickets right to your smartphone
  • Can pay for tickets in 1 of 10 different currencies ( avoid those exchange fees !)
  • Option to upgrade to VIP tickets
  • 24/7 customer service
  • Multilingual website
  • Tickets with flexible dates

If you prefer a paper ticket or don’t have a smartphone, you’ll have to wait until you get to your destination in order to grab a paper ticket from their “newsstand.”

Their 24/7 support is only available for English speaking customers. If you need help in another language, you’ll have to do it during limited hours of availability.

I also found that depending on the attraction, some tickets can’t be canceled. So make sure you check the attraction’s cancellation policy before you buy your ticket.

Tiqets also doesn’t offer tickets for attractions that are off the beaten path. So if you have your heart set on exploring a place that isn’t quite as mainstream, you may need to search in one of the other websites I mention here.

5. Ticketbar

Ticketbar offers well-rounded packages for attractions, excursions, tours (including bike tours), and round-trip transportation.

They offer tickets of all kinds including the classic “hop on hop off” bus and private tours, cruises, nightlife excursions, and combination tickets.

Like the other websites, you can book tours and purchase tickets in 9 languages and use 19 different currencies (19 different currencies is a record so far!).

They also have offer discount passes that will save you up to 20 percent on attractions, excursions, and museums.

Best attractions around the world

  • They have great deals on roundtrip transportation, “hop on hop off buses,” & bike tours
  • Discount passes of up to 20% off
  • Can pay for tickets in 1 of 19 different currencies (avoid exchange fees again!)

There weren’t a lot of cities to choose from.

I also couldn’t find much information about the company like how long they’ve been in business, or where their corporate office is located.

How can I use these tour and attraction websites to help me plan my itinerary?

But of course, I know that planning an itinerary is still one of the most time-consuming (and stressful) parts of organizing your trip.

So if you’re in the itinerary-planning part of your trip, I have two resources that might help you out.

The first is our in-detail page for planning an itinerary .

The second is a step-by-step walkthrough of how I actually planned the itinerary for one of our trips ( a super budget 3-month trip in Asia and Micronesia ).

Conclusion…

Whether you know exactly what you want to see and do, or if you are still undecided about your itinerary and tour and attractions you would like to do, these websites above can help you out.

They’ll give you some great ideas of places to check out and attractions to visit during your trip, help you get the best prices, and throw in some bonus features (like skipping the line in famous attractions or VIP access).

My final suggestion is that, once you find the activity you want to do, check it on all 4 websites to be sure you are finding the best deal. The 15 minutes or so that you spend here comparing prices and the special features of each tour on each website can save you A LOT of money!

Have you tried any of the websites above for booking tours, attractions, activities, or tickets? What was your experience? Or do you have any other questions about planning itineraries?

Let me know in the comments area below (I promise I respond to each comment!)!

Author Blog Tours: What Are They and How Can You Plan Your Own?

by Hannah Gordon

book tour site

Since practically everything else has gone virtual these days, it’s no surprise that authors and marketers have turned to the internet to garner more attention for their books.

Sure, every once in a while you might still see a beaming author posing for pictures and handing out signed copies of their book at your local retailer, but that’s no longer the most practical or cost-effective option.

With some carefully planned content strategies, authors can now take advantage of the blog tour, an inexpensive and low-maintenance type of campaign that can help you get publicity for your book using some simple networking and SEO tricks to your advantage.

What Is a Blog Tour?

blog tour image

Blog tours are defined by a set period of time, usually a few weeks, during which original, engaging content is created and shared across multiple blogs.

Blog tours shouldn’t be confused with “blog blitzes,” which is when the same content is posted on multiple blogs simultaneously.

Whereas virtual book tours can use a wide range of outlets (like podcasts or webinar events), blog tours are designed to focus on high-traffic sites and provide readers of those blogs with fresh, engaging content.

Usually if a person is a reader of, for example, blogs that review historical fiction, it is likely that they follow more than one of those blogs.

This is why it’s important to have targeted, original content for each blog you plan to tour. Blog blitzes are effective, but they act a little more like ads than readers are generally used to.

It is also worth mentioning that blogs love exclusive content, so authors should be willing to do interviews and release exclusive excerpts or personal essays.

The publishing team should also be willing to help authors curate and organize this material.

Who Are Blog Tours For?

Well, if you can find multiple blogs willing to post your content and perhaps talk about your book, then any author can benefit from a blog tour!

However, the most successful blog tours are usually within genre fiction and YA or MG books.

How to Start a Blog Tour

Here are some tips that will increase your rate of success when it comes to pitching.

1. Do your research.

If you’re thinking about doing a blog tour, start following the blogs you have in mind before you even pitch.

Create a spreadsheet to track the blogs you’re considering, and create a column that denotes if you reached out to the blogger, when, and what their response was.

Read the content, leave comments on posts, or retweet the blogger.

The more you interact and engage with that blogger’s content, the more likely it will be that they remember you when you pitch to them.

This interaction can be initiated by the author or by the publisher—but it may seem more genuine and “normal” coming from the author.

3. Follow up.

Be sure to follow up in a timely manner with the bloggers you didn’t hear back from. Sometimes your message got stuck in a spam filter or you may have emailed on a hectic week!

Things to Consider Before Pitching

blog tour image

Before you start sending out pitches to bloggers, make sure you have a clear idea of what kind of content you want (and are able) to deliver.

What to Pitch

When you send your pitch, be specific about what kind of content you’d like to provide for the blogger.

You might offer guest posts, interviews, exclusive excerpts, or even video posts, just to name a few.

To sweeten the deal with a blogger, you can also offer a giveaway to go along with the post.

Giveaways always get readers’ attention, and bloggers love to offer special deals or prizes to their audience, since they can also use giveaways to increase traffic to their site or get more engagement on social media.

(Think: “Tag a friend who needs a copy of this book!” or “To win: Follow my page and @authorspage and like this post! Tag friends for additional entries!”)

What to Include

Now that you’ve decided what kind of content you will provide to the different blogs, remember the important pieces of information that need to accompany your post.

Always include:

  • Book Cover Image
  • Author Photo

Who Should Pitch

While it is acceptable for an author to pitch themselves to bloggers, it is considered more professional for a publicist or the publisher (acting as a publicist) to contact bloggers on the author’s behalf.

This doesn’t mean that the author shouldn’t have a say in who is pitched and what kind of content will be provided. It also doesn’t mean that the author is off the hook for creating that content.

What it does mean is that having contacts in the industry is important to create a successful blog tour—and being in a respected industry role helps get books through the door.

When to Start

You never want to waste free PR. For this reason, scheduling a blog tour around the release date of a book is imperative.

For example, if you’re going for a two-week blog tour, then use the week before and the week after your book’s release.

With that said, you need to give the blog time to consider your offer and to schedule it alongside their other content.

Reach out six weeks to two months prior to your book’s publication. This gives you time to follow up with the blog if you haven’t heard back after a week or two.

This doesn’t mean you should start planning six weeks before launch—this means you should start your execution six weeks before launch.

Give yourself a couple of months to plan an effective blog tour, alongside your other marketing and publicity efforts.

What Happens When They Say Yes?

Once you’ve been given the green light, deliver what you’ve promised to the bloggers ASAP!

They’re excited to have you featured on their blog, or they wouldn’t have said yes.

Getting the information they need to them, allowing them to schedule it into their regular posts, and offering to help with any additional promotions that they think would help your post perform better will always win you good favor.

The idea here is to cultivate relationships with these bloggers, so when the author releases another book—or another author you represent releases a book of the same genre—they will be interested in working with you again.

After the Posts Go Live

Share! Share all the posts! Put them on your social media accounts, and always tag the poster and link to their site. Also encourage your followers to enter the blog’s giveaway contests.

Blog tours, like guest blogging, are meant to be mutually beneficial.

Always thank the host blogger and keep an open-door policy with them. You never know what ideas people may have that you can collaborate on in the future!

Author Blog Tour Services

Coordinating an author blog tour can require a lot of work and strategic planning. If you’re stretched for time, or if you simply want some guidance to ensure your posts reach the right audiences, you might consider paying an author blog tour service.

Below are several blog tour sites that will take some of the stress out of planning.

  • YA Bound Book Tours : This site offers tour options for YA authors that range from $75 for a 15-stop tour to $200 for 50 stops. Your tour stops will be promoted and tweeted daily. Note that tours must be booked 2–3 months in advance.
  • Xpresso Book Tours : Xpresso has a reach of over 1,200 bloggers. Basic tours start at $100 for 15 stops. The site primarily serves romance and YA readers.
  • Goddess Fish Promotions : Goddess Fish is run by authors, and they work with virtually every genre. Tours range from $45–$300.
  • Sage’s Blog Tours : Sage’s Blog Tours is also run by an author. Prices range from $60 for 10 blog stops, to $200 for 30 stops. Book your tour with Sage 6–8 weeks in advance.
  • Rockstar Book Tours : This site is free, but you’ll only be interested if the site owners are interested in reading your book. If you’re selected, the site will get you to 20 different bloggers who will list your book.

Blog Tour Benefits

Participating in a well-planned blog tour can be an incredibly powerful marketing tool for your next book.

Always do your homework and decide what kind of content you want to share to promote your book. With the right plan, you can make valuable contacts, get exposure for your book, and even pick up some new fans.

Almost anyone can start here, so if you’re an aspiring tourpreneur this may be your chance. You do, however, need to fit in with the  Airbnb standards . You can add your tours for free, but there is a 20% service fee on each experience booked.

Musement offers 24-hour support to all of their tourpreneurs, as well as a straightforward platform to advertise your tours.

You have control over your listings, and can add and edit tours whenever you need to. And the website works to translate all of the text as well.

This site also offers free sign up and only takes a commission on successful bookings. They’ll give you a personal account manager, too. So you’ll always have help and advice when needed.   Sign up here:  https://business.musement.com/register/

This one is a little more tricky. While TourRadar offers fantastic opportunities for many tourpreneurs, they’re not  always  ready to accept new listings. They do have a waiting list, though, which is worth signing up to.

Once you’re accepted, your tours will benefit from the 3 million monthly website visits and 2 million email subscribers. They also have great customer service, and their app makes things smoother as well.

Sign up (or join the waiting list) here:  https://operators-news.tourradar.com/list-your-tours

If you’re a new tourpreneur, just starting out, this may be the exact platform for you. WithLocals matches local tour guides with tourists visiting their cities. Their list of tour operators includes freelancers and established local agencies.

Their tours are big in Asia and Europe, but they’ve started branching out to the rest of the world as well. You won’t pay the site for listing your tour, a charge is made to the users who book instead.

Klook started – and has become quite popular – in Asia. But now, they’re expanding globally. While there are still a few destinations not yet reached, it’s just a matter of time.

They target an audience of visitors to both Asia and parts of Europe, with quite a chunk of users being in the USA. They also have a convenient mobile app which makes things so much easier for both partners and customers.

When you sign up for free to their partner program, you’ll be contacted by one of the team to discuss a commission structure. It’s still a very personal experience.

Time To Start Your Tour Advertising & Selling

This list is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many channels of distribution in the tourism industry, you just have to know which ones to use. Sites like Getyourguide, Viator, Tourradar are great starting points.

The fantastic thing about listing your tours online is that you don’t have to pick just one. None of the above-mentioned tour sites holds you to any contract which prohibits you from listing your tours anywhere else.

So take a few hours and list your tours on as many as you can. You’ll get more exposure and have a much higher chance of securing bookings.

How to Organize a Successful DIY Book Tour

When my first novel, Lifers , published, I made almost zero plans to promote it. I thought that promoting the book was the publisher’s responsibility, so I basically settled in for a nap and waited for the royalty checks to come in (spoiler alert: this didn’t work). Then, a few weeks later, Lifers received a capsule review in The New York Times Book Review . My wife and I ran out and bought every copy of the paper we could find, and I settled back to take a longer nap and waited for even larger royalty checks to arrive.

Again, this did not work. In fact, nothing happened whatsoever. Because the frustrating truth is, if you as the author don’t put a lot of work into physically promoting your book , it’s impossible to take advantage of stuff like that. We have to get out there and do the work.

One of the most effective ways of drumming up some publicity and awareness of you and your book is a good old-fashioned book tour. It’s probably not surprising that very few authors actually get the classic book tour funded by their publisher that you sometimes see in movies and TV shows—and when they do get them, they tend to be a lot smaller scale than those movies imply. But just because your publisher isn’t willing to foot the bill and do the legwork for a book tour doesn’t mean you can’t organize one on your own.

In the modern-day it’s easy enough to set up a virtual book tour, stopping by blogs to do interviews, post guest articles, hitting up podcasts and vlogs via your phone or video conferencing. And that can be very effective in terms of moving the needle on your book. But even if you’ve set up a virtual book tour to promote your new book, you should consider a book tour in real life (IRL) as well—or should, once the world returns to something resembling normal.

IRL for the Win

Virtual events and Blog Tours are fantastic promotional tools and can be a lot of fun. But there are several advantages to a real-world physical book tour:

  • Meeting readers. You can, of course, technically “meet” readers and fans online—but it’s simply not the same as having a personal moment. Shaking a hand, looking people in the eye, being present is a powerful experience. Plus, meeting readers in real life avoids the incredible awkwardness of navigating dozens of tiny boxes on your screen, weird sound issues, and connection problems that transform readings and other events into hallucinogenic experiences.
  • Connecting with booksellers. Print books are here to stay . The convenience and flexibility of digital books aren’t going away, but people of all ages still love print books. As a result, the death of the bookstore has been wildly exaggerated. Meeting booksellers and getting to know them—and putting your face to your book titles—is a good step towards ensuring your work is stocked in bookstores. Even when you do readings in bars or other locations, there’s usually a mobile bookseller involved. Making inroads with the folks who decide what books to shelve is huge.
  • Stocking shelves. If you’re reading in a book store, they’ve more than likely ordered your books for the event, and will likely keep some on the shelves for a while after you’re gone. One local bookstore near me still has my books on the shelves several years after an event. On an online platform, your book is one of several million. In a bookstore, it’s one of several thousand.
  • Hand selling. There’s a vast difference between someone saying they will order your book from Amazon or another online seller and literally handing someone a physical copy that you just signed. One’s a possibility of a sale, the other’s a sale .
  • Publicity. No one is writing an article about your virtual blog tour. But if you’re going to be doing a reading at a local bookstore, bar, or library, there’s a good chance a local paper, radio show, or locally-focused blog will cover it, which in turn puts your name and book title into a lot of ears and eyeballs.

Your Guide to a Winning Book Tour

Plan ahead—a lot ahead.

Like any promotional operational, one does not just decide one afternoon that they’ll organize a book tour. You have to do a lot of planning.

Decide the Date

Note the publication date of your book and back up about six months. A mistake many authors make is assuming they can’t start planning until their book is out. On the contrary—you need to start contacting your venues long before then in order to secure event dates around the time your book hits the shelves.

Decide the Scope

Saying you’re going on a book tour is sort of like saying you’re going to eat some cake—do you mean a modest slice, two pieces, or the whole thing (presumably on your way to the hospital to treat the sugar coma)? Book tours can be relatively simple affairs with a few appearances, or they can be epic road trips spanning weeks. They can cost a lot of money, or they can be done on a shoestring. Your first steps should be determining your budget (and zero or close to it is a perfectly acceptable budget—you just have to know that in advance), how far you’re willing and able to travel, and how much time you want to devote to the tour.

Note: You can certainly organize a book tour that has a lot of downtime—you don’t have to do six stops in four days. On the other hand, you want to strike while your book is fresh news, so stretching things out too far might dilute the promotional impact.

Set a Budget

Depending on your plans, you might need to consider gas, transit fares, lodging, meals, and promotional materials. Some of these costs will depend on the logistics of your tour. Keep in mind you may be able to deduct some of these expenses from your tax bill—some travel and meals are definitely deductible. Consult with a tax professional before making any assumptions, though.

How much does a DIY book tour cost? Chris Guillebeau spent about $30,000 promoting The Art of Non-Conformity about ten years ago, and Katey Schultz spent $12,000 promoting her book Flashes of War . You can hire a publicist, stay in swanky hotels, and fly around the country for six weeks if you have the budget for it. But if you don’t have the budget, you don’t have to spend much. In fact, you can organize a book tour where the only thing you spend money on is gas or transit fare—as long as you’re willing to do all the work a publicist would normally do.

If your first budget makes you sweat, here are some tips for cutting costs:

  • Stay in one area. This doesn’t have to be your home town. You want a metropolitan area with a number of venues, but keeping everything within driving/ transit distance of central point means you can hit a long list of venues without buying a lot of plane tickets.
  • Couch surf. This one might seem obvious, but if you set up your stops in areas where you have friends and family, you can have a place to crash after the event without splashing out for a hotel or motel.
  • Use miles. Another obvious tactic a surprising number of people overlook is credit card points or airline miles that can be traded in for hotels, rental cars, and other items and services. If you’ve got such a card, check your points balance and see what you can get.
  • Keep promotion digital. Posters, invitations, and giveaways are great, but if you’re strapped for cash you can rely solely on free social media to get the word out.
  • Make it work. If you’re a freelancer, consider how you might get some work done while on tour—maybe building in a few hours with your laptop before or after each event. That way you at least don’t lose income while promoting your book. If you travel for work, think about whether you might set up your tour dates to coincide with work-paid travel.
  • Team up. Know other authors with books to promote? See if any of them want to go in with you on a tour. This can maximize the crowds you attract, widen the resources you have access to, and allow you to spend a bit more overall because your individual contribution is lowered. Plus you can share driving duties if it’s a carpool situation.

Think Logistics

Unless you have endless resources, when planning a DIY book tour you should consider the locations you’ll visit. There’s one fundamental choice to make: Whether you plan to stay local, or if you’re going to take it national (or, I supposed, international , you fancy thing), you should take a few things into consideration when planning the dates and locations you’re going to hit. If you’re planning to drive, a useful tool is MyRouteOnline , which allows you to input several addresses and then shows you the best driving route to hit them in order, which is a good starting point when trying to nail down dates at each venue.

If you’re looking for bookstores and other venues that you can get to and back within the day, a site like TravelTime can be very useful—it will show you the geographical area you can travel to in 2 hours (or less) by car, transit, walking, biking—or a combination. You can cross-reference the resulting map with bookstores, libraries, etc. to build your list of possible venues. You should also consider who you know near those potential venues. Friends and family near the appearance site can translate to free food, places to stay, and a larger crowd in attendance. Of course, you shouldn’t presume—ask first—but if people are willing to put you up, it can save you huge amounts of money.

If you’ve got a day job (and many professional writers do) you might need to take time off to accommodate your travel and appearance schedule, so keep that in mind as you plan. And know that you can create all the ideal itineraries you want, but much of your tour schedule will depend on the available dates venues offer you, which may not line up with your ideal plans. It’s best to contact book stores, bars, libraries, and other venues as early in this process as possible to make sure they’ll book you—and on the dates you’d prefer.

Make Contact

The most crucial part of any DIY book tour is to contact the folks who manage venues. Whether you’re targeting bookstores, bars, or other places, someone has to actually accept you as a guest and set up the appearance. Well, you could do a guerrilla book tour where you just show up at random spots and start reading from your book, but that’s not an effective or efficient way to promote a book. You really do need to start making phone calls and sending emails.

This might require a bit of research. The simplest way to start is to find the location’s website and look for an EVENTS page, then see if there’s a contact listed. If not, look for the general number and email and start some cold-calling (cold-calling remains the most super of adult super powers; if you can make cold-calls, you can get almost anything done). Don’t be scared! Places that hold events are eager to have events—they want to hear from you. Just give them the basics—who you are, the book you’re promoting, what you’re hoping to do (reading, signing, both), and the dates you’re most interested in.

When I set up a DIY book tour after my first novel came out, I literally just sent out emails to a few bookstores and bars in areas that I could easily drive to and that had some friendly faces nearby. My response rate was probably about 20 percent, but I didn’t have any prior connection with the folks who worked at those places. I just contacted them and asked if they’d be interested in letting me read there, and some of them were. It really is just that simple.

Another strategy is to look for local book clubs or writing clubs and contact them—they very likely have existing relationships with the local stores and libraries. And if you’re a member of the SFWA, RWA, HWA, or MWA, reaching out to the local chapter will probably yield a lot of great information, if not an easy path to booking your appearance. Plus, once you have a reading in the books your fellow guild members can help promote it—and fill out the crowd.

Finally, follow up with your events contact at the venue a few weeks before the event. Make sure they’ve done some kind of promotion—advertising, in-store flyers, a mention in their newsletter—and that arrangements have been made. Mainly you just want to have confidence they didn’t forget all about you. If you get the sense that they have forgotten you, you might have to take matters into your own hands and double down on your efforts to get some local media attention.

Contact Media

Once you have some readings set up, your next step is to contact any media you can think of . Bloggers, podcasts, traditional radio, local television, local papers—literally anyone you can think of. Contrary to popular misconception, you don’t need a publicist for this—a publicist will probably do it better , and might have ideas and strategies that you lack, but can definitely do this yourself. The key is to make contact as early as possible. Journalists, reviewers, and other media folks have really long lead times. They’re more than happy to have content provided to them, but you have to get on their radar in time. Simply email or call with the information: Who you are, where you’ll be, and what you’re doing. In your email it’s a good idea to include any major reviews or past coverage you’ve received. Then, follow up a few weeks later. You won’t hear back from everyone, but you’ll probably get at least a few nibbles.

Also, check to see if there are any local events calendars you can submit to and make sure you get the info over to them. And finally, don’t forget your social media ! Toss the event out to your followers and friends, because some of them might hail from the area you’ll be reading in, or know someone who is. You’d be amazed how far your social media can reach if you give it time—and the opportunity.

Contact Your Audience

While you should expect the venue to do some promotion for you, and getting some media attention will help, you should also promote your appearance pretty aggressively. That means having an EVENTS page on your website, posting the event to Facebook, sending out waves of social media posts and reminders, and including it in every newsletter, interview, and other networking you engage in.

Because here’s the thing: The ratio of social media contacts—that is, the number of people you contact repeatedly via Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms—to actual attendees is abysmal . Think in terms of maybe one person for every 1,000 you reach—and by reach, I mean have meaningful impact on. It’s incredibly easy to like, favorite, or share a post, so if a bit of promotion looks like it’s blowing up, expect approximately zero people to actually show up to your reading.

Then send out another batch of posts, emails, and reminders.

Have a Plan

Now you’ve got some readings set up, you’ve reached out to media, and you’ve got your logistics planned. There’s one last, final detail to deal with: The reading itself.

Choose Material

You might think you can just show up with a copy of your book, flip it open, and start reading. You would be very, very wrong. In fact, authors who do that usually come off as flustered and unprepared. What you want to do is thoughtfully select a passage from your book that will take about 5–10 minutes to read. You really don’t want to go any longer than that, because audiences just don’t do well with longer reading times.

You’ll want to pick a passage that conveys the style and tone of the book but is also dynamic and exciting. Pick a funny section, or a dramatic moment. Resist the urge to do accents—in fact, dialog-heavy passages are a bad idea because all the “he said, she replied” tags get super repetitive. Above all, pick a passage you yourself will enjoy reading, something you can have fun with.

For the love of meatloaf, practice . Sure, you wrote it. But can you read it? Go through it a few times. This will not only confirm your choice isn’t too long (or too short), but will also identify rough spots where your tongue twists. Don’t be afraid to do some light editing—it might feel like cheating, but changing a word here and there is better than stumbling in your delivery.

Think about your remarks, too. Once you’ve practiced your reading, work up some talking points and craft an introduction that leads naturally to the selection. Your audience wants to know a little about your inspiration, process, and the story behind the book. Don’t try too hard to be funny or brilliant (though both are appreciated, of course)—just be natural.

Get in Ringers

Remember checking to see if you knew anyone who lived near the venues you’ve booked? Get them to show up. Cajole, bribe, and beg if necessary, because getting some “ringers” in will accomplish two things: Prevent a thin crowd (or, worse, no crowd) and provide a bed of positive support that will hopefully provide laughs to your jokes, applause to your performance, and maybe a question when no one else has any at the end of the night. You might not need your ringers, but if you do you’ll be incredibly happy they came.

Bring Books

Whatever you do, don’t assume the venue will have copies of your books. Sure, they should have copies, but stuff happens. Bringing a dozen of your own copies just in case could be the difference between selling a dozen books and not selling a dozen books. One of the strengths of IRL events, as mentioned above, is the opportunity to hand-sell books to folks. By the time they get home, that promise to look you up and order a copy may have faded somewhat. Pulling a book out of your bag and offering to sign it right there and then might seal the deal.

Be Prepared

Weird stuff can happen when you set up a reading or other event. I once in fact read to an empty store—I’d set up the reading months before, but when I showed up no one seemed to have been informed of the event. The staff threw together a space really quickly, but no advertising or promotion had been done, and literally no one showed up. I read to my wife, mother, and two friends who’d come with me. The store manager was nice enough to have me sign two copies, which meant they couldn’t be returned and so counted as sales.

You might have disruptive folks who get belligerent or provocative, or who are loudly dismissive of your writing talent. You might be sharing the evening with another writer—who’s more popular than you are and thus dominates the crowd’s attention. The point is that live events are unpredictable, so you should cultivate a flexible mental attitude—and remember that even a crazy, chaotic experience can also be a successful event.

Double Your Impact

We’re discussing IRL book tours, but this is the 21st century—enlist someone to record your event. This can be fancy—I once had a real, actual filmmaker come to a reading and make a nifty short film about it —but it doesn’t have to be. A friend with a smartphone and some patience can record your whole appearance for later editing, and you can whip up a few short videos with the highlights, which means a whole other potential audience can “meet” you and learn about your book

Someone should also handle photos for you—photos are incredibly useful for jazzing up your blog posts about the event after the fact, sharing on Instagram and other venues, and just documenting the moment. If your friend-with-the-smartphone is comfortable with devices, they can do both, snapping photos while they’re recording. If you don’t have any friends who can record things, invest in a cheap tripod for smartphones, set yours up in the back, zoom in and press record a moment before everything begins. It will be static and unexciting, but at least you’ll have a video to work with.

A book tour can be stressful, nerve-wracking, and rarely pays off big in terms of immediate sales and publicity. But it’s also fun, exciting, and plants the seeds of future success. If you decide your next book could benefit from one, there’s no reason you can’t plan it yourself—and for cheap.

Briefly Noted

“Bitter Crop” by Paul Alexander.

Bitter Crop , by Paul Alexander (Knopf) . This ambitious biography of the jazz singer Billie Holiday uses 1959, the tumultuous final year of her life, as a prism through which to view her career. Drawing its title from “Strange Fruit,” a song about lynching that was Holiday’s best-selling recording, the book focusses on her experiences of racism and exploitation, and on her anxiety about government surveillance. In tracing Holiday’s longtime drug and alcohol use, which damaged her health and led to her spending nearly a year in prison for narcotics possession, Alexander also delves into the unwarranted sensationalism with which the press often covered these matters at the time. Holiday died at forty-four. Toward the end, she was frail—at one point weighing only ninety-nine pounds—but, as one concertgoer noted, “She still had her voice.”

Our Moon , by Rebecca Boyle (Penguin) . This chronicle of our planet’s “silvery sister” begins with the explosive interaction, four and a half billion years ago, that split the moon from the Earth, and eventually encompasses the climatic chaos that is likely to ensue when it ultimately escapes our gravitational pull. Boyle inventories the ways in which the moon’s presence affects life on Earth—influencing menstrual cycles, dictating the timing of D Day—and how humans’ conception of it has evolved, changing from a deity to the basis for an astronomical calendar to a natural-resource bank. Throughout, the author orbits a central idea: that understanding the science and the history of the moon may help to unlock mysteries elsewhere in the universe.

The Adversary , by Michael Crummey (Doubleday) . An all-consuming, mutually destructive sibling rivalry propels this vibrant historical novel, set in a provincial port in nineteenth-century Newfoundland—“the backwoods of a backwards colony.” The antagonists are the inheritor of the largest business in the region and his older sister, who, through marriage, takes control of a competing enterprise. Amid their attempts to undermine and overtake each other, the community around them suffers “a spiralling accretion of chaos”: murder, pandemics, a cataclysmic storm, an attack by privateers, and a riot. By turns bawdy, violent, comic, and gruesome, Crummey’s novel presents a bleak portrait of colonial life and a potent rendering of the ways in which the “vicious, hateful helplessness” of a grudge can corrupt everything it touches.

Life on Earth , by Dorianne Laux (Norton) . “If we are fractured / we are fractured / like stars / bred to shine / in every direction,” begins this small marvel of a poetry collection. Laux’s deft, muscular verse illuminates the sharp facets of everyday existence, rendering humble things—Bisquick, a sewing machine, waitressing, watching a neighbor look at porn—into opportunities to project memory and imagination. Beautifully constructed exercises in tender yet fierce attention, these poems bear witness to deaths in the family, to climate destruction, and to the ravages of U.S. history, even as they insist on intimacy and wonder.

Our Fight

by Ronda Rousey

With Maria Burns Ortiz

From  New York Times  bestselling author and trailblazing athlete Ronda Rousey, an unfiltered chronicle of loss, resilience and finding meaning in life’s journey.

From the moment she burst onto the MMA scene, Ronda Rousey was unbeatable. She repeatedly strung together back-to-back flawless victories, racking up a collection of records and forever changing the face of sports as the UFC’s first female champion. A superstar in her sport, she transcended athletics, appearing in blockbuster films and becoming a role model for women everywhere. Then, on November 15, 2015, it all came crashing down.

In OUR FIGHT, Rousey explores the greatest challenge of her life and, ultimately, how she rebuilt her life into something better in the aftermath. She recounts how she replaced her pursuit of perfection with the pursuit of happiness and found an opportunity in disguise amongst the wreckage. Following Rousey’s relatable journey, OUR FIGHT is a courageous narrative of career changes, marriage, motherhood, and facing your fears.

Was Facebook down on Super Tuesday? Users reported outages on primary election day

book tour site

Facebook users may have encountered the social media site not working properly on the morning of Super Tuesday .

Facebook blamed a "technical issue" for the site being down.

"Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services," Andy Stone, the director of communications for Meta, said in an X post. "We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience."

Around 9 a.m. ET, hundreds of thousands of users reported Facebook being down during one of the biggest election days of the year, according to Downdetector .

Many users were reporting being logged out of Facebook accounts with no ability to log back in.

By 11:45 a.m. ET, many users were reporting that their service was resuming as normal.

Stone said in an X post before reports dwindled, "We're aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now."

USA TODAY contacted Meta, formerly known as Facebook, Inc., but did not receive an immediate response.

In addition to Facebook's outages, users of Meta-owned apps Instagram and WhatsApp were also experiencing issues.

Super Tuesday live updates: Much at stake in primary elections for Trump, Haley and America

Merriam-Webster says 'time to bust out your Dictionary' amid Facebook outage

Facebook and other Meta applications were down, so social media reacted accordingly, including Merriam-Webster.

"Facebook and IG are down - time to bust out your Dictionary," the publisher said in an X post. "Let’s. Go."

Facebook joins tech giants in pledging to crackdown in AI deepfakes for 2024 Election

Last month, Facebook pledged to join other tech companies - under pressure from the White House - in cracking down on artificial intelligence-generated deepfakes that could undermine the integrity of major democratic elections in the U.S. and overseas this year.

The deepfakes in question are videos, images, and audio that alter or fake the appearance, voice, or actions of political candidates, election officials or other key figures in a democratic election. These alterations can also be used to mislead voters about when, where and how to vote.

The accord is similar to a voluntary pledge many of the same companies signed in July after a meeting at the White House.

-Jessica Guynn

X users mock Facebook, Instagram during outages

Users of X who've stayed with the platform formerly known as Twitter through a chaotic 16-month stretch since Elon Musk took over , seized on the opportunity to dunk on users of other social platforms:

Even Musk got in on the fun and shared a post during the Meta outages.

Andrew Cutrow, Manager and Chief Business Officer of 3Point0 Labs, is set to lead 3Point0 Labs’ company’s new entertainment division, 3Point0 Labs Talent & Literary Management, along with Randy Faehnrich, producer and Head of Content.

3Point0 Labs Talent & Literary Management will work with clients and third-party agencies and management firms, and look to provide full-service talent representation, film and TV production and business advisory services.

“Marquel set the bar incredibly high with everything he has helped Francis Ngannou achieve across the combat sport, business and charitable spaces,” said Cutrow. “We’re excited to challenge that watermark on the film and TV side of our business with comprehensive management and branding services for our clients.”

Anakle’s film, The Black Book , made Netflix’s most-watched lists in 69 countries last year and is considered Nigeria’s first major hit on the streaming service. It was co-written with Bunmi Ajakaiye and was Effiong’s directorial debut. The film follows a bereaved deacon, who takes justice into his own hands after his son his framed for a kidnapping and fights a corrupt police gang to absolve him.

“We are thrilled to embark on this journey with 3Point0 Labs,” said Effiong and Bartels in a statement. “Our dream, mission, and hope are to elevate African stories, placing them at the center stage where they rightfully belong, told by African storytellers. We’ve only just begun to explore the depth of this endeavor.  The Black Book  was a powerful prologue, and we are excited for the road ahead as we build the next chapter with 3Point0 Labs.”

“Editi is an unstoppable creative force that embodies so much of what we have built with our partners over the last years,” said Cutrow. “We’re excited to target ever greater heights with him as Anakle Films reaches each boundary defying milestone. What they achieved with  The Black Book  across the globe is a testament to what is to come for Anakle Films and 3Point0 Labs. We couldn’t be more excited to help Anakle Films build out their global ambitions.”

“As a management firm, we will always gravitate towards athletes and artists that are betting on themselves, building community and endlessly innovating,” Martin, CEO of 3Point0 Labs. “We aim to work with talents across verticals who are compelled to reach incredible heights.”
