New York Influencer Christine Tran Ferguson Has Announced the Death of Her Son

Jul. 21 2023, Published 10:00 a.m. ET

  • Influencer Christine Tran Ferguson shared on July 20, 2023 that her 15-month-old son, Asher, had passed away.
  • No cause of death has been released. Christine shared that Asher was "fighting for his life" in the ICU on July 3, 2023.

Influencer Christine Tran Ferguson , who is best known for the travel blog Tour de Lust , recently shared the devastating news that she had lost her son, who was just over a year old. In an extended post on Instagram, she shared photos of her son, who was named Asher, as well as how difficult it had been for her to grapple with losing him.

The post and the news coverage around it has naturally led many to wonder what happened to the baby, and what the circumstances around his death might have been.

What happened to Christine Tran Ferguson's son?

Earlier this month, Christine shared that Asher was "fighting for his life in the ICU."

"Please God, give us a miracle and save my sweet Asher," she wrote in that post. "We need you, we miss your laugh, your smile, we need you here with mama & dada."

Christine didn't offer any detail as to what happened to Asher, and her post on his passing didn't provide any additional clarity.

In the post, Christine starts by acknowledging that he would have been 15 months old were he still alive.

"Mama and dada love you so much, you brought us so much joy, and made our family complete. I have never known how much love and happiness I could have until you came into our life. You are the smartest & happiest little boy I’ve ever known," she wrote in her post.

"My heart is utterly broken and shattered into a million pieces," the post continues. "I will never understand why. Nothing makes sense, I’m still in shock, I just want to wake up from this unimaginable nightmare and have you back in my arms. Why is this happening to us, why Asher? You did not deserve any of this. Losing you is the hardest experience mommy and daddy [have] ever had to endure."

Christine posted about her anguish over her baby on her Tour de Lust account.

The post continues by describing the heartbreak that Christine and her husband, Ryan, have had to endure every day since he died.

"Every day has been torture without you, this pain is unbearable," she wrote. "I still feel like you’re going to reappear, but our home is so quiet and empty without you. Part of me has died with you. I’m so heartbroken, with no idea how to live a life without you."

Christine's post continues, but doesn't offer any clarity on what exactly happened to Asher or why he was in the hospital. Christine is under no obligation to provide those details as she deals with what must be one of the most difficult things a person can go through.

At the conclusion of her post, she thanked everyone for the kind messages she had received, and said that she would get to them when she could. She also asked that people try to avoid being too nosy about their son. "I just ask for privacy during this difficult time as we're still in shock and still have no answers to this unbearable nightmare," she wrote.

Christine Tran Ferguson/Instagram

Christine Tran Ferguson is continuing to grieve.

The travel influencer behind  Tour de Lust , 37, is opening up about her grief after the death of her 15-month-old son Asher , which she announced on July 20 on her Instagram.

"We should be preparing our trip to Italy next week. Instead, I'm looking at these photos from our first family vacation almost exactly a year ago at 4 months old," she wrote in a caption for a post filled with pictures of herself, her husband and her son.

"We had plans to show Asher where mommy and daddy got married in Positano and then explore Tuscany, a new area together as a family. I miss these memories, I miss you, I wanted new memories with you," she emotionally continued.

Tran Ferguson, who did not share further details about the infant's death, describes the pain of missing her son as one that "will never go away, adding, "I never knew such pain could even exist! Our lives were perfect, normal… until it wasn’t 💔."

"I can’t believe its been over a month since we last held you in our arms, kissed you, smelled you, hearing your little laugh, your little walk. I want it all back so badly! I’m forever heartbroken, forever changed," the mournful mother shared.

"14 months with you was not long enough. I thought I had forever, we had so many plans for the future and it’s just gone. I pray and pray we find the strength to carry you with us. Its so hard, incredibly hard. For now, we cherish these memories we had with you forever. Mommy & Daddy can’t wait to be with you again 👼🏻🕊️❤️  #forever14months ."

Tran Ferguson echoed the sentiments of her post announcing Asher's death last month, which she began by saying, "My heart is utterly broken and shattered into a million pieces. I will never understand why."

"Nothing makes sense, I’m still in shock, I just want to wake up from this unimaginable nightmare and have you back in my arms," the bereaved mom wrote.

"Why is this happening to us, why Asher?? You did not deserve any of this. Losing you is the hardest experience mommy and daddy has ever had to endure. Every day has been torture without you, this pain is unbearable. I still feel like you’re going to reappear but our home is so quiet and empty without you. Part of me has died with you. I’m so heartbroken, with no idea how to live a life without you."

Going on to explain how loved the little boy was by family and friends, Tran Ferguson wrote, "Your room is empty, your stuff untouched. There’s no pain that can ever compare to losing a child & I can’t believe it happened to us."

In June, the influencer mom asked for prayers and revealed her son was "fighting for his life in the ICU."

"Please God, give us a miracle and save my sweet Asher 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼," she wrote. "We need you, we miss your laugh, your smile, we need you here with mama & dada."

Asher was born on April 20, 2022, nine years to the day that the couple first met, with Tran Ferguson expressing her gratitude for her baby boy after his traumatic birth.

"The doctor told us he had the cord around his neck so when the contractions happened it would tighten around his neck which led to his heart rate dropping," she explained at the time. "I’m just so glad our amazing doctors delivered him safely. It was awhile before I got to finally hold him once I was in the recovery room. I couldn’t believe it, he’s FINALLY HERE in my arms! I feel so blessed and lucky to be your mother and understand what everyone has told me. There is no love like this 🥹."

Travel influencer Christine Tran Ferguson revealed Thursday that her son, Asher, had lost his battle with a mystery illness.

The child was just 15 months old.

“I have never known how much love and happiness I could have until you came into our life,” Tran Ferguson wrote in an Instagram post marking her only child’s 15-month birthday on Thursday. “You are the smartest & happiest little boy I’ve ever known.”

The rest of the post was a montage of photos and videos of a smiling, bouncy toddler that belied the devastating news.

“You were going to do amazing things and change the world, I just know it,” Tran Ferguson continued.

“I miss your little laughs, the way you stick out your tongue when you giggled, the way you picked up your food with your tiny chubby fingers, your little dance moves, how you clapped your hands, your little feet kicking a ball, the way you grab the hockey or golf sticks for dada, you just always knew how to make everyone smile.”

Tran Ferguson and her husband, Ryan Ferguson, welcomed Asher into the world on April 20, 2022, the nine-year anniversary of when the couple met. The travel blogger, whose Tour de Lust website provides detailed itineraries to introduce people to various cities, is also active on TikTok, where she has about 274,000 followers.

The popular travel guru had told her 522,000 Instagram followers earlier this month that her son was “ fighting for his life in the ICU” without saying what was wrong.

“Please God, give us a miracle and save my sweet Asher,” she wrote, followed by prayer emojis and including a photo of her hand holding his amid a mass of tubing. “We need you, we miss your laugh, your smile, we need you here with mama & dada. Please help us pray for our precious Asher who is fighting for his life in the ICU.”

On Thursday, her pain flowed through her Instagram account and into the hearts of her followers.

“My heart is utterly broken and shattered into a million pieces,” Tran Ferguson wrote. “I will never understand why. Nothing makes sense, I’m still in shock, I just want to wake up from this unimaginable nightmare and have you back in my arms.”

“You’re 15 months today my little angel. Mama and dada love you so much, you brought us so much joy, and made our family complete. I have never known how much love and happiness I could have until you came into our life. You are the smartest & happiest little boy I’ve ever known,” Tran Ferguson began her post.

She detailed the pain that she and her husband, Ryan Ferguson, are experiencing over the baby’s death, but did not say how Asher died, People reported.

“My heart is utterly broken and shattered into a million pieces,” Tran Ferguson wrote in the post. “I will never understand why. Nothing makes sense, I’m still in shock, I just want to wake up from this unimaginable nightmare and have you back in my arms.

“Why is this happening to us, why Asher?? You did not deserve any of this. Losing you is the hardest experience mommy and daddy has ever had to endure. Every day has been torture without you, this pain is unbearable. I still feel like you’re going to reappear but our home is so quiet and empty without you. Part of me has died with you. I’m so heartbroken, with no idea how to live a life without you.”

Earlier this month, the blogger behind Tour de Lust asked for prayers and revealed her son was “fighting for his life in the ICU,” People reported.

Asher was born on April 20, 2022, nine years to the day that the couple first met.

She continued: "I miss your little laughs, the way you stick out your tongue when you giggled, the way you picked up your food with your tiny chubby fingers, your little dance moves, how you clapped your hands, your little feet kicking a ball, the way you grab the hockey or golf sticks for dada, you just always knew how to make everyone smile.

He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul. We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him," Sinead wrote.</p>

On Jan. 7, 2022, "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer Sinéad O'Connor took to social media to tell her fans that son Shane, the third of her four children, was dead at 17 following earlier posts revealing he was missing. "My beautiful son, Nevi'im Nesta Ali Shane O'Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God," tweeted the music star, who had Shane with ex Donal Lunny, an Irish folk musician. "May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace."

In another post, she tweeted a Bob Marley song that she dedicated to her son, writing, "This is for my Shaney. The light of my life. The lamp of my soul. My blue-eye baby. You will always be my light. We will always be together. No boundary can separate us." She also revealed Shane had been in the care of a state hospital at the time of his disappearance and accused the facility of allowing her son to get "out of their grasp." She later added, "May God forgive the Irish State for I never will."

Sadly, 18 months after Shane's death, Sinead, too, passed away , The Irish Times announced on July 26, 2023. The "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer -- who was found unresponsive in a London home, police said in a statement, adding that "the death is not being treated as suspicious" -- was 56.
