Finally, the time-trial aspect of the bike is one that we did not expect to be so good. Yes, the standard design of the bike might make it better suited for road cyclists, but when you flip the handlebars and omit some of the spacers, you will attain a lower position.

The lower position is best for achieving the important aerodynamic position.

When looking at all of these features, you get a sense that Trek is trying to create a high-end bike that would allow riders to ride comfortably at a performance level without spending as much .

In essence, the weight is the only thing that often drags it down, and if the bike lost about 5-pounds, you might be paying double the price.

The great thing is that you can manually add a carbon fiber frame if you feel the need to do so. The carbon fiber frame would significantly reduce the weight, but it could cost you almost ten times the value of the bike .

With efficient disc brakes, you can also rely on the stopping power. However, don’t have the guts to do 100km/h down a slope like the professionals.

Trek's road bike range explained.

With a history spanning some four decades, the Trek Bicycle Corporation has become one of the foremost bicycle makers in the world, and a perennial staple in our list of the best road bikes . What started out as a small steel frame-building company operating out of a carpet warehouse in Waterloo, Wisconsin, has grown enormously into a global leader of bicycle design and innovation. The Trek road bike range is based around three anagrammatic models; Domane, Madone, and Emonda - nominally the endurance, aero, and climbing bikes respectively. All are available in an array of build options, with the Domane and Emonda also available in both carbon and aluminium guises.

Trek has a history of innovating in the world of bicycle manufacture, with a particular emphasis on pioneering new materials. Bonded aluminium and carbon construction was lifted from the aerospace industry in the '80s, creating the 2000 and 2500 framesets. The lessons learned from bonded carbon were then poured into the manufacture of the brand's first full-carbon frameset, the 5000. Nowadays it has its own patented in-house carbon fibre, known as OCLV (optimum compaction low void) which is on a par with aerospace-specific alternatives

Trek continues to disrupt the industry from a manufacturing standpoint, but first and foremost it makes bikes for riders; the manufacturing innovation is only a means to an end. For some that means the very best commuter bikes , for others that means the best touring bikes , and for a lot of riders that means racing at the highest levels. It's no great surprise that Trek has become a big player in the world of gravel cycling too, and it also features on our list of the best gravel bikes . Whatever your interests in cycling, Trek has options. If you are thinking about something from the Trek road bike range, keep reading to see all the details about what's available. 

Trek Domane

Specifications, reasons to buy, reasons to avoid.

The latest model of the Trek Domane has gone through a complete makeover. The comfort-enhanced model in the Trek road bike range picks up a number of aerodynamic details, along with an all-new Isospeed decoupler design (additional flex at the steerer and seat post) and space in the frame and fork for up to 38mm of the best road bike tyres you'd care to cram in. These are changes that make the Domane an incredibly versatile road bike. The lineup is perfect for all-day comfort and the new Domane+ LT, makes our list of the best electric road bikes too.

The Domane is available in three frame types. For the budget minded, you'll want to look at the aluminium Domane AL; it's the most accessible in terms of price, and the only option for fans of a rim brake. It's entry level but it doesn't leave off the performance and adds options for racks for commuters, though it can only fit 35mm tyres rather than the 38mm max on the carbon models.

Moving up the range, the next option is the mid-range Domane SL. Stepping up to the SL means a move to 500 series OCLV carbon fibre. That opens up access to a dual IsoSpeed decoupler system, not found on the alloy version, for comfort-enhancing vibration damping. It also means space for larger tyres and storage in the downtube. If you'd like to stick with rim brakes there aren't any options for a fully built bike in the SL range but you can still get a rim brake option of the frameset.

The top-tier Domane SLR is also carbon fibre but it's a lighter 700 series OCLV. It still carries the dual IsoSpeed decoupler, but it's an upgraded adjustable version also seen on the aero focussed Madone. Like the SL, there's no fully built rim brake option available but you can still get an SLR frameset in a rim brake format.

Depending on your taste, and budget, builds are available from Claris-level at one end, through to SRAM Red eTap at the other extreme, with most options in between available.

Trek Emonda

For years, the Emonda had been the lightweight option in the Trek road bike lineup, and one of the usual suspects in our lineup of the best lightweight bikes . This is the bike to grab when you want to head to the mountains. As technology has progressed though the modern climber's bike has somewhat disappeared; brands have been slowly moving away from labelling their lightest offering as a 'climbing bike', and instead pivoting to selling it as an all-round option, for both up hill and down dale. Trek is no different in this regard, with the Emonda filling its all-rounder spot. It's no lump though, if weight is your concern.

While the Emonda is still the bike you'd want to turn to on the steep uphill segments, it's more than that now. Aero-optimisation and disc brakes take it away from a bike only for the mountains to a much more well-rounded option. In some ways it's defined more by what it isn't than what it is. It's not the all-out aero bike and it's not an endurance bike. The Emonda is the lightest of the options but it's also a bike that does a little bit of everything.

Available models for the Emonda still cover a wide range in much the same way as the Domane, with an aluminium option at one end, with a rim brake frameset option, and two tiers of carbon above it. The SL represents the middle ground with a carbon frame at a more affordable price. Then, at the top of the range, sits the SLR with a new ultralight 800 series OCLV carbon construction. There's even an SLR frameset with a more aggressive geometry available for those competing at the highest levels or fans of ultra-responsive handling. 

Trek Madone

The Madone sits at the top of the range as Trek's most purebred race bike. It's aero optimised in every way, and features among our list of the best aero road bikes too. Being the range topper means that it's the most expensive option in the Trek lineup but that has more to do with a lack of low-end options rather than it necessarily being vastly more expensive. There are only SLR and SL models available, meaning no entry level aluminium choice to be had. 

After years of aero bikes carrying a reputation for being harsh and uncomfortable, Trek went in a different direction. It was the first to market its aero bike as not just aerodynamically fast, but also fast because of its comfort, primarily thanks to the addition of the IsoSpeed decoupler system lifted from the Domane.

Of course, comfort isn't the only trick for the Madone; integrated cables feature heavily, along with fully integrated cockpits on the top end models. Even lower models, without an integrated cockpit, look to cheat the wind, with truncated aerofoil tube shapes and aerodynamically optimised disc brakes. Tyre width is however much more limited than with other models, topping out at 28mm.

Trek Speed Concept

The Trek Speed Concept is the Trek solution for triathletes who want the very best. For years the design had been stagnant but that all changed at the end of 2021. The brand new 2022 Trek Speed Concept is all new and faster than it's ever been before. Compared to the previous version, Trek claims the new bike saves a full six minutes over the Kona full Ironman race course. 

Moving away from a solely wind-tunnel focus, Trek has sought to create a bike that works as an entire system, rather than simply a lab-optimised object. The system approach means hydration and storage helps make not only the bike faster, but also the rider. There's an available between-the-arms (BTA) bottle that enhances aerodynamics by smoothing air between the arms and a clip allows you to drink without leaving the aero bars. It's also easy to refill during a race with a port on the top that accepts the nozzle of another bottle. 

While the BTA bottle is a separate purchase, the downtube bottle comes with every Speed Concept bike. Capacity is 750 ml and, like the BTA bottle, it also enhances aerodynamics; the system is 14 per cent faster when the bottle is in place. 

Outside of hydration there are two additional storage solutions onboard and included. The two bottles cover opportunities to enhance aerodynamics so the storage doesn't make the bike more aero. Instead, the bento box and the flat repair storage take advantage of the increased frame space to hide from the wind. 

The once-simple exercise of choosing a bicycle has become an appreciably complex decision owing to a plethora of new riding disciplines and technological advancements.

There are four different types of road bikes available in Trek’s current catalogue — aero, endurance, time trial, and climbing/do-it-all, each of which differs based on design and function.

As the name suggests aero road bikes are designed for speed while still retaining some form of compliance and comfort. Climbing bikes are ideal for hilly/mountainous routes and are pretty decent all-rounders. Endurance bikes offer a combination of durability and comfort while time-trial bikes are more outlandish-looking in their appearance and built for speed.

Trek offers a wide selection of specifications for each of the models in its range. Most of the brand's road frames are available in three different types of carbon, as well as aluminium and denoted by SLR (Trek's lightest OCLV carbon), SL (mid-range OCLV carbon) or AL (Aluminium).

Different geometry options are also available on certain models, with the majority featuring regular H2 geometry and some offered in the more aggressive H1 geometry, designed specifically for racing.

Trek 1000 has been around for ages but it is still a popular road bike. The question is: Is the Trek 1000 still good or is it not worth it anymore? We will find out the answer in this review of the Trek 1000 bike.

Trek 1000 can be classified as a touring bike, which is a subbranch of road bikes. This is because it has a drop handlebar and can go at fast speeds like a road bike. However, the tires are slightly wider than a road bike. A touring bike is a great choice for someone who wants to ride for a longer time period. It provides good speed and traction for longer routes. The Trek 1000 offers similar specs.

Trek 1000 was very popular in the 90s. You could find them at every corner. The price was very good and the bike was a good choice for most cyclists. The color combination of the Trek 1000 also make it very attractive to the eye. Blue color with shades of white are easy on the light and look very inviting.

Lightweight thanks to aluminum

Aluminum is the preferred material of bikers who want something lightweight. Compared to steel, aluminum is very lightweight. It is even used in airplanes. Having aluminum on a bike has its advantages. The obvious one is that the weight of the bike is less, which helps the cyclist to achieve faster speeds with ease. Trek 1000 comes with the Alcoa 6061 T6 aluminum frame. The light weight of the Trek 1000 will allow you to reach and sustain fast cycling pace. This is great if you have hills on your cycling route. The only thing which I didn’t like is the positioning of the gears. They are placed behind the handlebar and it gets some getting used to. Initially, it was hard to reach the gears with ease. This eventually improved over time.

Low maintenance cost

The Trek 1000 has been around for so long and for good reason. Apart from good performance, the bike also has low maintenance cost. This is also another reason why it is so popular among masses even after so many years have passed since it first came out. The last thing you want on a long route is having the bike breaking down. The Trek 1000 has a good reputation in this regards that it doesn’t seem to have any mechanical problems.

Good for speed

The Trek 1000 is designed with skinny tires and comes with 8 gears. This helps the bike achieve fast speed with ease. This is good if you are going on a long route where speed is needed to cover the distance as quickly as possible.

Durable frame

Even though the Trek 1000 has an aluminum frame, it is still quite durable. It has withstood the test of time and hardly developed any problems in my case. The frame is sturdy and durable and can easily compete with carbon fiber frames of today’s generation.

Things We Didn’t Like About the Trek 1000

Gear shifter position is hard to reach.

While biking, I noticed that the gear position was slightly out of place. It was just behind the handle bar. I did have to get used to it. Rest assured though, it is a minor thing and you should be able to get adjusted quickly after a few rides on the bike.

Uncomfortable riding position for beginners

As mentioned above, the Trek 1000 is a touring road bike and comes with a drop handlebar. Bikes with drop handlebars require the cyclist to bike in an aerodynamic position. While this position is great to achieve speed by reducing wind resistance, it may be hard for beginners to ride in this position for a long time. This is something to consider.

Trek is a “young” bike brand with over 40 years of experience, but many cycling enthusiasts adore them because of their consistent rational thinking and continuous research in the field of cycling.

This is a comprehensive review of the nostalgic Trek 1000 road bike from Best Bike Select. What are the characteristics of the Trek 1000 road bike, an old bike that has been researched over time?

Stylish design (5/5).

The Trek 1000’s exterior design is similar to that of modern road bikes. The bike was first released in the 1980s, but it gained popularity in the mid-1990s.

Of course, its configuration is constantly being updated, and I haven’t been able to find any information on the configuration of the Trek 1000’s first generation. The most recent version dates from 2000 onwards.

This is extremely frustrating for me, but I still like the way the bike looks. At the time, the white paint with the old Trek logo was very fashionable.

Aluminum frame and fork (4.0/5)

At the time, the 6061 aluminum frame was introduced, and many low-cost bikes still use this process with pride.

It was conceivable when Trek began using it 25 years ago. The aluminum frame is also much stronger and more durable than the steel frame, and it does not require any maintenance.

Tange Cro-Moly frame with TIG Welded Aero Multi-Crown fork. When compared to road bikes of the same era, these accessories are already very good. And, according to many forum comments about the Trek 1000, there are few users who complain about its frame and fork.

Of course, some users believe that it is still a little heavy in the current state. When compared to today’s carbon fiber, it is indeed a little heavier.

2X7 speed configuration (3.5/5)

The 14-speed configuration does not appear to be very high-end at the moment, and it is one of the basic configurations of many low-cost road bikes.

Shimano’s cassette and shift set, mid-range configuration, and quality remain unrivaled. According to some riders, it has been ridden for 6000 miles with little damage.

Tires (3.5/5)

Versions prior to 2000: 700°C*25°C IsoTech Trek 3. The slimmer 32C tires were typically used on racing road bikes, while the 25C tires were still adequate for training and were more of a commuter bike configuration at the time.

However, the post-2000 versions would all use the 23C model tires, which are capable of riding at higher speeds and are considered one of the best budget race roads.

Unique shifting (3.5/5)

Shifters on modern bikes are located above the handlebars, but the Trek 1000’s shifters are located below the handlebars. This is bad news for riders who have gotten used to shifting over the handlebars. It takes some time to get used to the shifting style of the Trek 1000.

If you’re using an older version of the Trek 1000 for smaller races, you’ll need to make some adjustments. The old version, for example, has an aluminum fork that needs to be replaced with carbon fiber.

The Trek 1000 after 2000 has its own carbon fiber fork and is lighter in weight. Then there are the tires, which can be replaced with race tires to significantly improve race performance. The shorter forward-leaning top tube is unsuitable for riders who are not particularly tall.

However, you can gain an advantage in the countdown sprint. There won’t be much of a performance advantage over today’s race road bikes, but it’s still a great choice for commuting.

I’m not sure if I would recommend the Trek 1000 as a good road bike. It seems like it would be too small for most people and the frame might not be durable.

Good all around bike

Probably would shift smoother w/ a double instead of a triple, almost not worth mentioning

Purchased bike fully decked out at pawn shop cyclometer,rack,fenders,pump Spd pedals etc. I bought this bike to ride from Seattle to Portland on. No issues. This bike may not win u the tour de france but it sure will make u feel like it. Great commuter & road training bike. Put well over 1000 miles on this bike. Defiantly a keeper.

I have had a trek 1000 for @ 15yrs, I have used this special bike in all weathers, it has exceeded everything i want in a bike, in fact i would not swap it for anything. It is perfectly balanced goes like a dream, to be honest it is my mate, pure trust.

I would advise anyone to invest in a Trek 1000, i can guarantee you will be more than happy. Don't hesitate if you have the chance to purchase one, get in there you will never regret it.

I bought a 2007-ish Trek 1000 used for $350, and I was a little worried because I had been warned about the shifters and had generally heard mixed things about the bike. But I couldn't be happier. I've used it pretty much every day for a year, for commuting over crappy roads (including in rain and snow), as well as for short bike camping treks. It's fantastic. I try to take care of it, but I certainly don't baby it--I've never taken it to a shop--and the shifters are just fine. By that I mean they work, every time. That's about all I look for in a shifter, so if your tastes are more refined you might feel differently, I really don't know. I'm even still riding the original tires, which were fine when I got the bike (it was somebody's weekend road ride for several years), but they need changing after this last year of abuse. As far as I'm concerned, this is a great middle ground between hard core road bike and practical commuter--unlike a lot of other road bikes, you can put a rack on this one (I have one that I use for groceries and camping trips, and it beats a backpack). But it still cut my commute time in half when I switched from an old mountain bike. It's tough enough to handle serious potholes without feeling like it's going to break, and light enough for me to maneuver easily in my tiny apartment. I'm sure those with real road racing ambitious are skeptical for a reason, but I'd buy it again in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone looking for a solid commuter bike. Keep in mind that both front and back wheels are quick release (at least they are on my model), so either consider switching them or make sure you get a lock that can secure everything.

I have 1999-2k model that I ride everyday, averaging 30 miles per. It is a very strong and reliable frame, brakes work very well and rims can take a beating. Mine is orange and white; forks and seat post are carbon fiber and absorb shocks very well.

only slight weakness is the need to adjust brakes often but for an old bike they work very well.

Very good bike overall, wouldn't trade it for anything else. I also have a Specialize but I use mostly for rides to the store, etc. My trusty old 1k is just to awesome of a bike to ride anything else on the desert roads of the Coachella Valley.

This bike has saved my life when things were rough. It was my introduction to road biking. I can't say enough about this bike, Trek really does a great service to the bike culture, offering a very strong frame, and good components. Snot nosed rich kids will criticize the Sora componentry, and it is Shimano's entry level line, so upgrades can be pleasant however it is very sufficient, and regardless if this is your first road bike or you have been in the game for a longer term, you can take this bike home feeling good about your purchase.

The Cube LTD Comp 2011 is a mid-range level hard-tail mountain bike, with good looking black color, reliable with very good shimano breaks. It has a strong aluminum frame and it is very comfortable bike. I would recomend it to anyone.

Sora shifters, no really!! Still going strong. Strong, stiff frame, excellent paint quality.

The stock seat as with many was a total razor. Original wheels were functional but slow. Poor quality spokes on machine built Alex rims.

I love my 1000!! Its been tried and true over many bumpy, rainy, crappy miles of Portland winters. Now set up as my rain bike commute-o-wagon. Its a no frills ride that has always treated me right. Even the low end Alex rims went 20,000 miles before they gave up the ghost and only 3 spokes.

Syktyvkar is a city with a population of about 220 thousand people, the capital of the Komi Republic , located in the north-east of the European part of Russia.

The distance from Moscow to Syktyvkar (in a straight line) is about 1,000 km in a northeasterly direction. Its name, translated from the Komi language, means “the city on the Sysola River”. Photos by: Slava Stepanov .

We have already been shooting aerial panoramas for 6 years. During this period of time we shot many interesting cities of the world: New York, Amsterdam, Kuala Lumpur, Sidney, Miami, Las Vegas, Rio de Janeiro, Dubai, Los Angeles and others. However, we didn't succeed in shooting the city we live in, though we did our best. The case is the flights over Moscow are forbidden except those of Russian Federation Ministry of Civil Defense and Emergency Response and Russian police.

Taking in consideration these administrative restrictions we applied our creativity and resolved this problem by the following:

1. First, we made a virtual tour over Moscow Encircling Highway: MEH and the interchanges .

2. In Moscow itself we realized several photo-sessions with a radio-controlled helicopter which was made and managed by Stas Sedov.

3. In May 2010 near Crocus-City Moscow panorama of high resolution (approx 1 Gig pixel) was shot from the height of 1000m.

4. The sphere was shot from the height of 1000m. The most part of Moscow and its region can be viewed from that point. Now we represent this sphere.

Although we don't usually shoot panoramas from such height because it's rather difficult to see the details, but in this case it seemed to us it would be very interesting view: most probably such view is seen by the Boeings' pilots flying to land at the airports of Sheremetevo and Vnukovo.

Water transportation has become another sector for the eco-friendly improvements the Moscow government is implementing. And it means business. On July 15, 2021, on the dock of Moscow’s ‘Zaryadye’ park, mayor Sergey Sobyanin was shown the first model of the upcoming river cruise boat.

The model of the electrical boat with panoramic windows measures 22 meters in length. The river tram - as Muscovites call them - has a passenger capacity of 42, including two disabled seats. The trams will also get cutting edge info panels, USB docking stations, Wi-Fi, spaces for scooters and bicycles, as well as chairs and desks for working on the go. The boats will be available all year round, according to ‘Mosgortrans’, the regional transport agency.

Passengers will be able to pay with their ‘Troika’ public transport card, credit cards or bank cards. 

The main clientele targeted are people living in Moscow’s river districts - the upcoming trams will shorten their travel time in comparison to buses and other transportation by five times, Mosgortrans stated.

As the river trams are being rolled out, Moscow docks will also see mini-stations, some of which will also be outfitted with charging docks for speed-charging the boats.

Moscow is set to announce the start of the tender for construction and supply in September 2021. The first trams are scheduled to launch in June 2022 on two routes - from Kievskaya Station, through Moscow City, into Fili; and from ZIL to Pechatniki.

“Two full-scale routes will be created in 2022-2023, serviced by 20 river trams and a number of river stations. We’ll continue to develop them further if they prove to be popular with the citizens,” the Moscow mayor said .

Silent Hostiles (M64)

Who are the new silent hostiles.

They are tough opponents equipped with powerful buffs, including Critical Chance, Critical Damage, Critical Floor and Burning Status (Burn will be applied for 3 rounds at the beginning of combat). They will have a 100% critical chance at the start of combat for 4 rounds and they will increase their own critical damage by 350% at the start of each round (also, critical hit damage cannot be reduced below 50% of base damage) - so protecting your Ships against critical damage is key to survival (hint: Tucker might help!).

By defeating them, you get Temporal Disruptor Parts, and can exchange them for Reward Chests. You can find these hostiles in the Silent Nebula Systems, located adjacent to the Delphic Expanse, they go from level 40 to 65. Please also check the Patch Notes for more useful information.
