Alpaca World Korea: How To Get There From Seoul & What You’ll See

We took an adventure from Seoul out to Alpaca World (알파카월드) at the beginning of spring this year and the chilly weather now in the autumn has me remembering it. Pictures of alpacas swarmed my Insta last autumn and I saved the spot to wait until it got warmer for us to go. Yes, there are indeed alpacas in Korea and they’ve come all the way from Australia. Are the alpacas in Seoul? No, but close enough.

Do you want to go to Alpaca World? You’ve come to the right place.

Alpaca World, Korea

If you’ve got kids in Seoul and want to find some more spots to introduce them to animals and let them learn, be sure to check out the Aqua Planet Ilsan as well as the other aquariums around the county here . Another spot our little one has quite enjoyed is Zoolung Zoolung . Have fun while you’re in Korea!

Alpaca World is not the easiest place to get to via public transportation. There are certainly ways but they aren’t easy and the times that buses depart is just not convenient. If you don’t have your own car, this would be a good spot to rent one to go to and then see some other awesome things in the area like Nami Island and Petite France .

If you aren’t going to rent a car and take your own adventure, I highly recommend joining a tour that will not only stop at Alpaca World, but will also stop at some other popular spots in the area.

Good tours to choose from:

  • Head to Alpaca World, Jade Garden, and then stop at the Gubongsan Mountain Observatory Cafe Street for some awesome views also seen in my hit K-dramas. Join this tour here.
  • Visit Alpaca World and then stop by the very popular Nami Island on another tour. Join the tour here.

Alpaca World is a fun spot to check out if you want something different to do in Korea and of course if you love alpacas. Be aware that the park is on the side of a mountain so the paths are NOT flat. It is a lot of walking up and then down and then up and down again. This can be nice in the spring and the autumn, but I’m not so sure about in the heat of the summer or the frigid winter.

Going to visit Korea and want to know what to wear/bring in those seasons? Make sure to check out this packing list because it is quite different in every season. Wear comfortable shoes for the walking and if you’ve got little ones, just make sure they’re awake and ready for walking!

A Map Of Alpaca World

Alpaca World, Korea Map

The highlight of any visit is to walk with the alpacas… which don’t really listen or follow anyone unless you have food in your hand. Remember that if you’re taking children because if they don’t want to be followed around, don’t let them hold the food. You can walk with the alpacas for 15 minutes and while it seems like you could go a fair distance down the road and back in that time, as the staff will tell you, we didn’t get far at all. We ended up down in the grassy area just in front of where we got her and basically let her lead us… which she did just fine. It was the perfect time to get all of our happy fluffy alpaca selfies.

On a side note: the staff seemed very well aware of their alpacas and how much time they needed to rest or when they were done. This meant some people had to wait longer to get an alpaca that was ready, but I think every visitor will be okay with healthy happy animals.

Alpaca World, Korea

At first I thought this was just a ride for the kiddos or families with kids but honestly, with or without, you’ll enjoy this. Just get on the little train! Basically, you’ll hop on and get a cup of food to feed the alpacas as you are whisked around. The alpacas know you’re coming and as soon as the train begins to move, they head to the side to say hello and lick up that food. It was fun for all of us.

Alpaca World, Korea

Nearest to the entrance/exit is a grassy circle that has alpacas roaming around. If you get some food at the entrance, you can go in. This is where most people meet the alpacas for the first time. We checked them out but then went up and decided to feed these guys on our way out. It worked well as everyone coming in from the shuttle bus heading here at the same time will stop here making it a bit busy, so head up and around and do it on the way out and you’ll have better odds of being alone.

Alpaca World, Korea

Alpacas aren’t the only animals in Alpaca World though the name might suggest that. We got a big kick out of seeing the large birds and then heading into parakeet building to feed them. Ava never passes up an opportunity to feed and hold animals. She LOVED this. Stop by the vending machine near the entrance to get bird food for W1,000. The birds will come a flying as soon as that little packet is ripped open so be prepared.

Alpaca World, Korea

Alpacas and birds aren’t the only animals on the 360,000 square meter grounds. You can also visit “Rabbit Country”, see deer and donkeys as well as owls, eagles, and various amphibians. There are sheep, peacocks, and maybe a few more surprises. It’s a great spot not only to see the alpacas but to see so much more and have fun.

Getting To Alpaca World Korea

Getting to the alpaca world using just public transport is quite hard and takes a long time. It is highly recommended to book a tour leaving from Seoul.

On Wednesday and Friday there are bus tours leaving for a one day trip from Seoul . Buses leaves from Hongdae, Myeongdong or Dongdaemun and arrive at the Alpaca Farm around 10:30 and you’ll get free time till around 1 PM. This is more than enough to enjoy all the different experiences and even have lunch at the restaurant on site. After the tour continues and goes to the Gubongsan cafe street, which is a great place to relax and enjoy the stunning view looking down on Chucheon city. Next the tour continues to the stunning Jade Garden. Which is a stunning European style garden. Here you’ll get around 1h30 free time which is more than enough to explore the vast garden.

The tour costs 64 000 krw and includes the bus, tour guide, entrance fees and a free drink at the coffee street. I have joined this tour with Trazy on a Wednesday in May and most places were almost deserted, which is great to have a relaxing day in the country side. Book the Trazy tour here.

Make your way from Seoul to the Namchuncheon Station which lies on the Gyeongchun line. Getting to this station is similar as getting to Nami island subway station.

From Namchuncheon station there is a bus (bus #3) going to the Alpaca World, but the bus only runs 3 times a day. At 8:50 / 12:20 / 16:10, which is quite inconvenient as 8:50 is quite early and 12:20 is too late. The bus stop is in from of the Namchuncheon station exit and takes around 1h30. The bus fee is 1000 krw and the bus will stop at the Alpaca Farm parking lot. From there take the free shuttle bus to Alpaca World.

When going back, from the Alpaca World Korea, the bus to Namchuncheon station runs at 9:55 / 14:05 / 17:20.

Alpaca World is a theme park, that features alpacas and other animals. It is a popular destination for tourists and families, who can enjoy interacting with the alpacas, feeding them, and taking photos with them. In addition to the alpacas, Alpaca World also has other attractions such as a petting zoo and a garden.

Alpaca World is about 90 minutes away from Seoul by car. Visitors can take public transportation such as buses or trains from Seoul to Chuncheon, and then take a taxi or shuttle bus from Chuncheon to Alpaca World. Hello there,

Me and my friends are trying to get to alpaca world but I heard some buses were changed. How are we able to get there?

The best way to get there is to book a package tour. This would include the bus and also entrance tickets. The bus ride takes 1,5 hours from Seoul to the alpaca farm. By public transport it’s a bit more difficult, as the shuttle bus between chuncheon station and the farm is currently not running.

Hello. My sister and I are planning to go to Alpaca World on Tuesday. Does it still open on Monday and Tuesday?

Yes, Alpaca world should be open Monday and Tuesday. Please check the official website for exact details on opening times.

Feeding the Alpacas

Feeding the alpacas at Alpaca World in Korea isn’t as simple as tossing them a handful of grass; there’s a specific diet to follow to ensure their health and happiness. The Alpaca Diet usually consists of hay, specialized pellets, fresh fruits, and plenty of water. It’s crucial not to feed them anything harmful like chocolate or caffeine.

When it comes to Feeding Etiquette, one must always approach an alpaca slowly and gently. Offer food on your palm with fingers flat – this prevents accidental nips! Avoid feeding too much at once as it can cause digestive problems for these furry friends. Remember, interacting with these creatures should respect their needs and boundaries. This way, your visit will be enjoyable for both you and the alpacas!

Walking with the Alpacas

After you’ve had your fill of feeding, it’s time to explore the park with these gentle creatures by your side. Walking with the alpacas at Alpaca World in Korea is an extraordinary experience that allows you to get up close and personal with various breeds.

  • You can enjoy serene moments as you stroll through the lush landscape.
  • Learn about different Alpaca breeds; each has unique characteristics and charming qualities.
  • The park provides opportunities for Alpaca Photography, ensuring memorable snapshots of your encounter.
  • Participate in guided walks which are not only informative but also culturally enriching.

Remember, while interacting with alpacas, respect their space and treat them kindly. This experience is a delightful blend of leisurely exploration, educational insights, and cultural immersion. Enjoy every minute!

Other Animals at the Park

In addition to alpacas, you’ll also find a variety of other animals at the park such as rabbits, deer and ducks. Each species has its own dedicated space that mimics their natural habitat. The setting is part of Alpaca World’s commitment towards wildlife conservation efforts, aiming to provide these animals with an environment where they can thrive.

You’ll be captivated by the unique animal experiences on offer here. The rabbit village, for instance, is home to several different breeds where you’re allowed to pet and feed these fluffy creatures under the staff’s guidance. Similarly, in the deer forest, you can observe these graceful creatures up close while maintaining respectful distance.

The duck pond offers yet another delightful experience. These waterfowls waddle about or glide smoothly over the pond surface, adding a tranquil touch to your visit. Remember when feeding them though; only use food provided by Alpaca World as bread and other human foods are harmful for their digestive system.

The park’s wildlife conservation efforts don’t stop at providing habitats for these animals; they extend into educating visitors about each species’ needs and challenges in our rapidly changing world too. Interactive exhibits throughout the park bring awareness to issues like habitat loss and climate change effect on animal populations around the globe.

So take your time exploring Alpaca World’s diverse inhabitants beyond its namesake animal friends. Every encounter will leave you with a newfound appreciation for nature’s varied creations and inspire a deeper respect for all life forms we share this planet with.

Activities for Children

While the presence of various other animals in Alpaca World Korea offers a rich biodiversity experience, there’s much more to this park that caters specifically to children. As we delve deeper into this realm, it becomes evident that the activities designed for our young explorers are as diverse and engaging as the wildlife itself.

Alpaca World Korea is not just a spectacle of nature but also an avenue for creativity where your child’s imagination can run wild. One such example is the Alpaca Artwork activity. Here, kids get hands-on experience creating their own unique pieces of art inspired by these adorable creatures. They may choose to draw alpacas or even craft them using clay or paper-mâché under expert guidance. This activity encourages cognitive development and artistic expression while also fostering an appreciation for these wonderful animals.

In addition to nurturing creativity, Alpaca World Korea provides ample educational opportunities. The interactive exhibits and guided tours offer fascinating insights into alpacas’ lives – from their dietary habits to their grooming routines – all shared in a kid-friendly manner that sparks curiosity and learning. Children are encouraged to ask questions, making it a fun-filled educational journey rather than just another trip to an amusement park.

Moreover, through feeding and petting sessions with the alpacas themselves, kids gain firsthand knowledge about animal care and empathy towards living beings – lessons beyond textbooks!

So let your children loose in this magical world packed with learning experiences camouflaged as fun activities! They’ll come back home not only with memories but also valuable life lessons imparted by our friendly woolly alpacas at Alpaca World Korea!

Alpaca World in Korea

The Park is located around 120 km from Seoul. It will take about 2 hours to get there. Going there by public transport is not very easy. Hence we recommend taking your car or joining a tour group.

By tour bus:

You can join different tours organized by tourism organizations. The advantage is that everything is included in the price (bus, entrance ticket) and sometimes it is linked with other attractions nearby.

  • We recommend the Alpaca World + Garden of Morning Calm / Nami Island: book here with Klook
  • Another fun option is to combine the strawberry farm, snow sled in winter, and Alpaca world. This tour costs about 80,000 KRW with Trazy. Book here.

If you have a car, going to the Alpaca World will be very easy. It takes about 2 hours to get there. When you arrive, park at the bottom of the hill and take the free shuttle bus up the hill. From there purchase your ticket and enter the park.

The advantage of going there by car is that you can explore other attractions nearby, such as the Garden of the Morning Calm or Nami Island at your own pace.

By public transport:

Make your way from Seoul to the Namchuncheon Station which lies on the Gyeongchun line. Getting to this station is similar to getting to Nami Island subway station.

From Namchuncheon station there is a bus (bus #3) going to the Alpaca World, but the bus only runs 3 times a day. At 8:50 / 12:20 / 16:10. The bus will stop at the Alpaca Farm parking lot. From there take the free shuttle bus to the entrance of the Alpaca World.

Note that taking public transport to visit the Alpaca World is not the easiest and fastest option, and the buses are limited…

Dress Appropriately

To fully enjoy your time with the alpacas, it’s essential to dress appropriately. Opt for comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for outdoor exploration. Remember that the weather can vary, so it’s a good idea to bring layers and accessories like hats and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. Additionally, consider wearing clothes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty, as alpacas may be curious and leave behind a trace of their affection.

Etiquette and Respect

While interacting with the alpacas, it’s crucial to respect their well-being and follow the guidelines provided by the staff. Please don’t make any sudden movements or loud noises that may startle them. Be gentle when feeding or petting them, and never force any interactions. Remember that these are living creatures, and their comfort and safety should always come first.

Additional Tips

  • Capture the Memories : Remember to bring a camera or your smartphone to capture those adorable moments with the alpacas. However, be sure to check if there are any restrictions on photography or if additional fees apply.
  • Plan Your Visit : Alpaca World can get busy, especially during weekends and holidays. Consider visiting during weekdays or off-peak hours to avoid crowds.
  • Check for Facilities : Before your visit, find out if Alpaca World provides amenities such as restrooms, dining options, or souvenir shops. Having this information in advance will help you plan your day accordingly.
  • Follow General Ettiquetes : Alpacas are gentle creatures that can be startled by sudden movements. Be respectful of the animals and other visitors. Wash your hands before and after interacting with the animals. Do not feed the animals anything other than what the farm provides.

3 reviews for Nature day trip to Alpaca World

Debbie & Aymee – January 8, 2020

Thank you Jay for a wonderful day! This day trip was enjoyed by myself and my 18 year old daughter, who adores Alpaca’s as do I on the 23rd November. We had a great lunch with Jay before heading to Jade Gardens. Even though it was the beginning of winter and the flowers had died off, the walk through the different garden areas was just lovely. We enjoyed the serenity and peaceful surrounds, stopping for coffee at the top of the hill. It didn’t seem 1.5 hours drive each way as Jay made the trip very enjoyable.

IxaraTravels – June 12, 2019

The trip was very convenient, especially since we’re traveling as a family with a senior citizen, and it wouldn’t have been an easy commute to get to the places we went to. Thanks to our tour guide Justin for being very accommodating.

Jaeysilva – February 8, 2019

We were just blown away how Justin our tour guide was so hospitable and approachable in making our trip perfect last Feb 2. He even has a professional camera, took photos and uploaded to google drive immediately after the trip! It was a seamless private tour we started at alpaca world, headed to Soyang Sky Walk and Nami Island. Justin was a great driver, tour guide and he even agreed that we dropped off at Dongdaemun instead of our hotel so we could tour some more. I hope when we come back he will be assigned to us again. Thanks a lot One Day Korea and Justin!!!
