Pedestrians injured in two lane cove crashes sparking traffic chaos.

Two pedestrians have been hit on the same road in two separate accidents just minutes apart in Sydney ’s Lower North Shore on Tuesday afternoon.

Motorists were warned to avoid the Lane Cove North area as lane closures cause major traffic delays.

One man in his 40s is in a serious condition after he was struck by a hatchback about 3.20pm at the intersection of Longueville Rd and Epping Rd, Lane Cove North.

He sustained a head injury and lacerations and was treated by multiple paramedics at the scene before being transported by road to Royal North Shore Hospital.

The 64-year-old male driver behind the wheel of the hatchback was uninjured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A second pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was struck 20 minutes later at the intersection of Longueville Rd and Pheonix St, at 3.40pm.

He sustained head abrasions and lacerations and was transported by road to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.

NSW Police investigations are ongoing.
