Jesuit Excellence Tour Visits Bergen Catholic

ORADELL, NJ, March 12, 2024 – Bergen Catholic welcomed the Jesuit Excellence Tour to campus on Tuesday, as Crusader sophomores and juniors got the opportunity to meet and talk with admissions staff members from Jesuit colleges and universities. The JET Tour program allows Jesuit institutions to recruit targeted areas across the country.

Bergen Catholic was chosen as part of a select group of high schools to be a host site in the NY/NJ metro area, and this honor afforded BC students the opportunity to learn about some of the most prestigious Catholic colleges and universities without ever having to leave the Oradell campus. We thank the JET Tour for coming to Bergen Catholic and spending time promoting their Jesuit institutions to the BC sophomore & junior classes.

The Loyalist

March 27, 2024

The Official Newspaper of Loyola High School of Los Angeles

The JET and RACC tours offer palpable college information

On Wednesday, Sept. 14, and Thursday, Sept. 15, colleges from around the nation gathered in the Malloy Commons for the annual Jesuit Excellence Tour (JET) and the Regional Admission Counselors of California (RACC) college fairs to reach out to Loyola students.

The Jesuit Excellence Tour is comprised of Jesuit universities from across the country including schools such as Gonzaga, Marquette and Loyola University of Chicago. Loyola is one of the few schools to be visited during the school day by JET. These schools have similar core values to those of Loyola. The Jesuit tradition is consistent throughout these institutions, focusing on an academically distinguished education with a religious foundation.

The Regional Admission Counselors of California is made up of representatives from various types of universities from outside California. The objective of RACC is to encourage students from California to pursue paths and opportunities outside of their home state.

Every year, representatives from a wide variety of universities visit Loyola on various days, sharing information about their respective schools to Loyola students. These delegates represent either a Jesuit institution on the JET tour or colleges outside of California on the RACC tour.

Sophomore Scott Kase answered, “I learned a lot during the event. Looking through all of the colleges helped me envision what schools I want to go to.”

Senior Henry Chase answered, “I thought it was cool. I got to see some schools that I hadn’t thought about before. It definitely made me think more about the process.”

Loyola counselor Dele Varga explains why these tours come to Loyola every year: “It’s a way for them to get a large audience. We have developed a relationship with them that allows them to come every year. They come to Loyola specifically because we are a Jesuit school.”

Jesuit Excellence College Tour Visits IHS

jesuit excellence tours

Fourteen colleges and universities arrived at Immaculate High School recently as part of the Jesuit Excellence Tour. The recruitment event brings admissions staff at Jesuit schools from across the country to high schools like Immaculate.

Juniors and Seniors attended the mini college fair in Immaculate’s gym and got to meet with representatives from the following schools: Canisius College, Fairfield University, John Carroll University, Le Moyne College, Loyola University Chicago, Loyola University Maryland, Loyola University New Orleans, Marquette University, Saint Joseph’s University Philadelphia, Saint Louis University, Saint Peter’s University, The University of Scranton, Xavier University and Loyola Marymount University.

The JET tour is organized by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities and is a national organization that fosters the Jesuit, Catholic identity and mission.

A total of 119 colleges and universities have visited Immaculate throughout the fall including the University of Notre Dame, Vanderbilt University and the University of Chicago to name a few. Immaculate High School prides itself on providing a rigorous preparatory education and its students have a 100 percent college acceptance rate.

“We like to expose our students to a wide range of colleges and universities so it’s been a busy fall,” said Tim Nash, Immaculate Dean of Counseling and Student Services, who recently visited Yale University with a group of students. “Our counselors work one on one with students to help them find the perfect fit for them.”

Immaculate High School is a private, non-profit Catholic college-preparatory institution serving students from 28 communities in Connecticut and New York. A continued commitment to our 60-year tradition of being a value-based, student-centric, outcomes focused Catholic high school, has driven our rising trajectory as evidenced by the 2022 Niche A+, Best Schools ranking.
