I have been to Edgar’s Mission on tours over the years and now volunteer there. Not only are the tours educational, the sanctuary is a ‘feel good’ place with beautiful animals and people.

Please note that we cannot admit people to the sanctuary if they have not booked. Ours is a very busy sanctuary and we simply don’t have the resources to accompany guests without prior arrangement.

Edgar’s Mission | A farm sanctuary | Our mission is kindness

Edgar’s Mission is a not for profit Farm Sanctuary that seeks to create a humane and just world for humans and non-humans. Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary is set on 153 peaceable acres situated just outside of Lancefield, nestled in the tranquillity of the Macedon Ranges. This farm sanctuary currently provides life-long love and care to over 350 rescued animals, including more than just a few lucky (and equally cheeky) chickens.

Edgar’s Mission was founded by Pam Ahern and named after her first rescued pig, Edgar. Edgar Alan Pig, aka “The pig who started it all,” sadly passed away shortly after his 7th birthday party in April 2010. Edgar, a gentle giant, touched so many people and was an amazing ambassador for pigs and farmed animals everywhere. He will be missed beyond words – but his mission will continue.

Why do farmed animals need rescuing?

Few Australians are aware that the vast majority of animals in human care in this country – some 500 million ‘food’ or ‘production’ animals – have been excluded from the protection of our animal welfare legislation.

In particular, millions of farmed animals daily endure lives of abject misery in factory farms.  Barely able to move they endure acts of cruelty that would be illegal if they were your cat or dog. Imagine a life without sunshine, without freedom, without being able to socialize, without hope … Welcome to the ‘life’ of a factory-farmed animal.

How has this happened? As custodians of this planet, we have been guilty of playing favourites. We have designated some animals friends and some animals food. Yet they are no different. All share the same ability to suffer, the same need and desire to experience life, for it to have joy, meaning and purpose.

Edgar’s Mission provides you with the opportunity to meet these animals, read their stories and decide which life they need and deserve. Edgar’s Mission provides you with a glimpse into a different world – a merciful world.

Edgar’s Mission Sanctuary Tour for World Animal Day

Celebrate World Animal Day with a tour of Edgar's Mission, a sanctuary for rescued farmed animals located in Lancefield, Victoria, Australia.

Founded by World Animal Day ambassador Pam Ahern, Edgar's Mission is home to over 400 rescued residents.

Sanctuary tours are fun and informative, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions. We are not a petting zoo, but you’ll have the chance to interact with the animal residents if they choose.

Free standard tours run for around 1.5 hours covering 3 km. Strictly ages 10+ for safety reasons.

Retreat to the rolling hills of the countryside and rest among adorable rescued animals.

If you’re an animal lover, you probably know about Edgar’s Mission , a renowned animal sanctuary about 60 km north of Melbourne. Set on 153 acres, this important sanctuary is currently providing love and care to over 400 animals, including sheep, pigs and cows. And now, you can enjoy a tranquil animal retreat by staying in one of the Tiny Houses at Edgar’s Mission. Go on a sustainable getaway for some much needed rest and relaxation, surrounded by serene country views and sweet animals. Bookings are available now.

Tiny Houses at Edgar’s Mission

This eco-friendly accommodation is reopening after a three-year hiatus. Truly immerse yourself in the wonders of the sanctuary, and go on guided tour to meet some of the rescued animals. Then, stay overnight in one of the sustainable tiny houses.

Each dwelling has been crafted with a focus on sustainability, using renewable energy systems to create an eco-conscious experience. The stylish interiors use products sourced from companies that share the values of non-harm and sustainability, like Bhumi organic cotton linens and organic toiletries. Some materials, which are traditionally associated with harm and confinement of animals, such as metals and rope, have also been repurposed. Each tiny house has kitchen facilities, a toilet, a shower and a deck.

“We are thrilled to offer this unique experience to animal lovers and compassionate individuals alike,” said Pam Ahern, Founder of Edgar’s Mission. “Our Tiny Houses embody the values we hold dear at Edgar’s Mission, providing an unparalleled opportunity to connect with animals and nature on a deeper level.”

The accommodation

There are three types of Tiny Houses to choose from at Edgar’s Mission. Each one is dedicated to the memory of three beloved animal ambassadors – Edgar Alan Pig, Timmy the sheep and Little Miss Sunshine the hen. Each dwelling has subtle interiors to represent the unique features of each animal and their preferred environments.

• Edgar’s Cottage – this loft-style tiny house was inspired by the piglet that started it all. You’ll find plenty of soft pinks in this house, with a downstairs kitchen and living space and a cosy upstairs bedroom.
• Timmy’s Villa – this tiny house is also like a loft, named in memory of their sheep ambassador Timmy. The villa also has a downstairs kitchen and living space with an upstairs bedroom, as well as a library.
• Casa del Sunshine – this single-level space is named in honour of the rescued battery hen, Little Miss Sunshine. Take in sweeping views from your comfortable bed by gazing through the large picture window. The house is infused with warm browns, greens and golds.

Interact and learn about the animals, visit the nearby township of Lancefield or drive a little further to explore Hanging Rock and Mount Macedon. Bookings are available now , for a maximum of two adults over the age of 18.

TMZ claims police are "reaching out to Kanye for his side of the story."

Kanye West is reportedly being investigated by the LAPD for a battery incident on Tuesday night.

Per TMZ , police were told that 46-year-old Ye punched a stranger in the face after the man "allegedly pushed or grabbed West's wife, Bianca Censori."

The outlet claims Ye and Bianca left after the altercation and the alleged victim didn't need treatment for any injuries.

"We're told police plan on reaching out to Kanye for his side of the story, and will also speak to witnesses," TMZ adds.

Ye and Censori were spotted at Disneyland with Yung Lean earlier Tuesday. Enjoying the park on Star Wars Nite, they were also joined by designer Juliet Charlotte and director Aus Taylor.
