Baltimore rapper YG Teck kicks off “90 Day Run Tour” with electrifying concert at Rams Head Live
Share this:
By Reuben Greene, Special to the AFRO
Baltimore’s Rams Head Live came alive on Oct. 15 as the venue played host to a remarkable concert event – the kickoff of the “90 Day Run Tour,” led by Baltimore’s own YG Teck.
The electrifying night was not just about music, but a celebration of Baltimore culture and homegrown talent.
YG Teck, the rapper and entrepreneur hailing from West Baltimore, has been making waves in the music scene for years. Born as Terrance Collins, this charismatic artist has been on a journey to put his city on the map.
The rapper delivered each line with a passion that resonated with everyone in attendance. Fans went word for word with YG Teck on many of his most popular songs, including “90 Day Run” and “Big Dog.”
The music from YG Teck serves as a reflection of life experiences, the challenges he’s faced, and the determination that has brought him to this point as a man and as an artist.
As the lights dimmed, the stage came to life with a spectacular set design. A convenience store, complete with fluorescent lights served as the backdrop. Larger-than-life images of Baltimore’s signature row homes illuminated the stage, a nod to the city that shaped YG Teck’s life and art.
The crowd engagement was unlike any other. Cell phones lit up the room, creating a sea of screens, as fans captured every moment to share with the world. YG Teck’s unique ability to connect with his audience was evident throughout the night.
The evening was not just about YG Teck; it was a platform for local artists to shine, as the tour is billed under “YG Teck and Friends.” The stage welcomed some of Baltimore’s finest talent, further emphasizing the unity and camaraderie in the city’s rap music scene. The collaboration extended to a stunning performance with fellow Baltimore rapper Young Moose, a moment that left the crowd in awe. Not only did YG Teck showcase the musical talent of the city, but he also provided a platform for local businesses and his record label and clothing line, No Excusez.
What truly set this night apart was the incredible audience interaction. YG Teck made sure to bridge the gap between the stage and his fans. At one point, he handed the microphone to audience member Manii Johnson and the room erupted in cheers as she delivered his lyrics from memory. It was a testament to YG Teck’s connection with his community and the passion he inspires.
This unforgettable night not only celebrated his journey to stardom, but also showcased the local talent that makes Baltimore a city with a thriving and vibrant music scene.
YG Teck is undoubtedly putting Baltimore on his back, carrying it to new heights and leaving a legacy that will resonate for years to come.
On Oct. 21 at 9 p.m. YG Teck and Friends will be in Connecticut at The Spot, located at 370 E. Main St. in Ansonia. Though tickets for that show are already sold out on Eventbrite, they are available with other outlets such as All Events. Tickets for his Nov. 5 show in Philadelphia are available on StubHub.com.

Yg Teck’s ‘Day Ones’ concert was an intimate display of his storytelling talents
The Park Heights rapper and entrepreneur gave a show for his most loyal supporters backed by local band The Natives.
Park Heights native, Yg Teck, organized a special concert titled “Day Ones” for his Baltimorean fans to attend. The event was promoted for just a few days as a not-so-expected collaborative concert with the King Midas-headed The Natives band.
But the show’s atmosphere mirrored a more intimate take on “MTV Unplugged”; Teck’s closest friends, family and a few avid supporters enjoyed what essentially felt like an at-home listening party. Motor House, the West North Avenue venue where “Day Ones” took place, was dimly lit with pink and blue spotlights sprinkled throughout. Spaghetti, fried chicken and salmon sandwiches made by Krazi Katering left an enticing aroma in the space. Teck also gifted attendees with drink tickets and a trucker hat from his No Excusez apparel brand.
Originally known as a “freestyler,” Yg Teck is now arguably the most consistent artist Baltimore has produced in recent memory, having released a project every year since 2017. He is beloved by the city due to his passion-filled, often-motivating lyrics. Teck’s music blends the line of being a rap superstar with the relatable everyday entrepreneur. Since taking off in music, Teck has also propelled himself into other avenues like owning his own trucking and clothing companies.
“To get where I’m at right now, I understand how important my supporters are to me,” Teck said after last night’s show. “Without them, there wouldn’t be no me. A little thousand or two thousand dollars on some food and drinks not gonna hurt me ‘cause these people made me hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
The Baltimore Banner thanks its sponsors. Become one.
Divided into thirds, the first 20 minutes of Teck’s performance had backing from The Natives, which hosted lead singer and producer, King Midas, four background singers, a percussionist and a bassist. Dripped in bright diamond-encrusted jewelry, a gray Louis Vuitton T-shirt and white jeans, he performed some of his most resonant tracks. Hustlers’ anthems — like the title track of “ 90 Day Run ,” and “ Bussdown Days Coming 2 ″ from his “ Eyes Won’t Close 2 ″ project — were recited word-for-word with audience members.
While the bulk of his performances up to this point were high energy, Teck planned something totally distinct for his closest admirers. “This not for everybody. I wanted the people who really appreciate my music and been following my journey to be here,” he said. “I usually don’t get to perform the songs that I’m really talking on and that’s what built my fan base. I wanted to do something for those people who helped me get hot.”
After a brief intermission, he returned in a jewelry-free all-black outfit — a look that’s reminiscent of his pre-nationally established days — to perform his earlier singles. The crowd-favorite moment of the night — to no surprise — was the same song that made Yg Teck a household name throughout Baltimore and a name to consider to out-of-towners.
“ DTLR Freestyle ,” is a radio interview performance that was originally featured on media personality Jay Hill’s DTLR Radio show in 2017. The four-and-a-half-minute-long freestyle displayed Teck’s cherished traits in his rhymes as every lyric hit with wholehearted conviction. Once fans caught wind of it in 2017, you couldn’t open a social media app without seeing someone reciting the lyrics. It now has close to 2 million views on YouTube. At Motor House, as soon as the song started, the crowd rapped with Teck in unison, going so far as to even overshadow his microphone’s volume at one point.
Teck, being a veteran showman, ensured everyone in attendance would have an unforgettable night by pacing through the crowd mid-performance to give daps out and bringing out surprise guests. The first was Baltimore legend, Young Moose. The duo performed their renowned “ Forgiveness Freestyle ,” trading bars as everyone in attendance surrounded the stage.
Later in the night, Teck was joined by YBS Skola and Roddy Rackzz for the recent WhiteboyCameWitDaBag-produced smash hit, “ Bus Fare .” Speaking on the camaraderie he shares with these artists and unity in Baltimore, Teck explained, “They say that we don’t work together and I think that that’s false and if it’s not false, I’m changing the narrative right now. I don’t have a problem with no artist in the city. I feel like it’s important to bring people together and show everybody what Baltimore really look like.”
Reminiscent of the late L.A. rapper and entrepreneur Nipsey Hussle’s decision to sell his 2013 “Crenshaw ” mixtape for $100 per copy, Yg Teck managed to sell out “Day Ones” with tickets priced the same. Although betting on himself is nothing new to Teck, he’s noticeably proud of this night in particular. He boasts, “Sometimes it take some time, but you gotta stay down. I’m just showing everybody what the underdog look like. I’m the poster child of the hard times and I accept that.”

Well I have to say the concert was amazing other than I was so short I couldn't see anything... I am very dissatisfied with the services
And everything. I feel like I was ripped off for
My money.. I paid $129 for a meet and greet with
YG it was supposed to include
meet and greet with YG
The only thing I got was a picture taken with my
Cell phone so it's blurry.
I got a hat and a foam finger. These are products
That were being sold at the concert that I had purchased before
The concert! If I would have known that I was only
Getting a rushed picture and a hat with a foam finger
I wouldn't have purchased the up grade.
Also I received an email Oct 20 with further details
Regarding the meet and greet told me to be at doors
An hour before doors open. Doors were supposed to open at
8pm so we were there about 6:50pm. Says the meet and greet
Will finish before doors open to the public in order to make sure you
Have time to get the best viewing spot for the show
And we didn't get entry until everyone else did around 8:30-9pm
And the email states a link to photos from the night
Will be sent to your email 24-48 hours after the show
They had no camera so I got a blurry one taken with my phone
I was kinda bummed cause I didn't have a good view and am a short person so couldn't see concert to well with all the tall people and me being short!
So I figured it's ok I have meet and greet that will make up for me not
Being able to see him well... no that was crap to got
Rushed in for a blurry picture a foam finger and hat that I had already purchased and rushed
Out.. so do I get a refund as I didn't get what I paid $129
For. If I want a blurry picture I could have paid $50 for the photo with meet and greet
And saved $100
I guess if you want a good spot you would have to by balcony tickets!

There's a restless anticipation in the air. With The Academy nearly bursting at the seams with ardent hip hop fans and eager rap newcomers alike, the atmosphere has an eerie calm before the storm feel to it. Everyone is excited, but they're all too cool to show it. The lights go down, the cheers go up - but maybe a little prematurely as first up is Fat Pimp, tasked with warming up the crowd for the main event. He runs through a setlist of lesser-known rap tunes, and the crowd returns the favour by largely using the time to get drinks and visit the restroom. With Fat Pimp's exit, the buzz returns. Obligatory rap air horns announce the arrival of tonight's idol, Keenon Jackson, aka YG. This time, the cheers aren't out of politeness, but out of genuine thrill as YG bursts straight into "I Just Wanna Party." With the crowd already swaying, YG doesn't hesitate to shout his commands: "Put your m*****f****** hands in the air!" to which those loyal fans dutifully react in compliance. The initial rush dies down mid-way, with YG's ensemble scattered about the stage like kids at a party on too much sugar. There's a gold Chopper on stage too, which YG perches on while churning out "Who Do You Love?" It's a rhetorical question, but he knows that this crowd loves him. As the show draws to a close, the audience leaves just as excited as when they'd arrived. Since his debut "My Krazy Life" set him as a force to be reckoned with, tonight, YG reinforced his status as a hip hop mainstay. His life performance mixes rap cliches (a bit of violence, anyone?) with heartfelt devotionals like "Sorry Momma" to keep everyone on their toes. It's frantic, it's frenetic, but it's hip hop so what did you expect?
That YG concert was freaking lit!!! This was one of the best concerts I've been to this year!!! I was real excited to meet and greet YG but I wish I'd could of talk to him more instead of a quick photo with him. Besides that, all the preformers killed it especially Sadboy Loko. I had a real awesome view all the way in front row so I had no problem not seeing the preformers. I was real excited to be back at the Fox Theater in Oakland one year later. If anyone wants to go to a concert to turn up and party and have the preformer teach you real shit, I suggest you go see YG. You won't regret it!!
YG is so dope. The venue and the crowd, not so much. For an all age event I didn't realize there would be clouds of weed in the air but it's a YG Concert am I right. But still, people with asthmatic lungs as myself wasn't able to enjoy the show as the other intoxicated guest. Pushing and a shoving was to be expected at a general admission but ass cheek to ass cheek was not to be expected. No sense of crowd control or security really. The venue really does it all but YG was lit.
Quite frankly a c**t - we bought tickets and booked a hotel for the night as we don't like that close only to have the show postponed with no word of why or when the show will happen (has been about a month now) and yg decided on that day it was more important to go and watch some American football! So overall, we were just f**ked over and he can do one
The show was amazing YG was really awesome he put on a great show only thing is Redbull really confused people with saying it was general admission yet inside the separated people with orange bands and no bands there was upper balcony and had no bad and then there was the bottom I would have a bad even though everyone paid the same price
The concert was lit! I got VIP so I got to meet YG and eveything, I also got on stage with him to beat up the Donald Trump piñata! I wish he played more of his older songs from his mixtapes because he has a ton of Cali fans that go to school in Flagstaff, Arizona. But it was an incredibly memorable night.
The show was awesome but my meet and greet sucked I payed 129$ for the upgrade meet and greet was supposed to get a picture a hat a lighter a bandanna and a some thing else I got a 30$ hat and a 10$ foam finger was not worth paying that much when the normal meet and greet with picture was only
Anybody want to buy a meet and greet ticket for ace of spades on Saturday 11/26?
My girlfriend can't make it as originally planned so I'm trying to sell it.
Will knock down the price.
Willing to negotiate.
Email me at [email protected] if you or anyone else is interested.
Best night!!! Every performer was dope and had great energy. I finally met YG!!!!! So happy. Even though I was told to arrive early for meet and greet, I didn't get to meet him until after the show but I'm still grateful. Great tour, I hope he comes back to the dmv soon!
