From Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club to the Ed Sullivan Theater, Justin Thomas had a whirlwind 24 hours after a final-round 71 at the Valspar Championship.

“(Jordan) would always come to the Kentucky Derby, and I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky,” Thomas said. “He loves golf. He loved it then, still loves it now. He wanted to play golf when he was in town and he had a friend who he played in the NBA with, Junior Bridgeman, who was friends with my dad and put the connection together and he would come out and play my dad’s course. And I would just be lucky enough to be out there when he was playing.”

For the first two years, Thomas caddied for the group. But in the third year, Jordan came to the course and invited Thomas to play.

“He always used to call me 'little man;' he’s like, ‘Little man go get your clubs, you’re going to play the last seven holes with us,’” Thomas recalled to Colbert. “He knew that I played golf, but he didn’t know that I was decent and nobody else had any idea. So he goes, ‘I’ll take little man for whoever wants us.’”

Thomas made four birdies in seven holes and won “three or four grand,” which “helped pay for my first car.”

Thomas concluded the interview by discussing the Ryder Cup. Thomas is 7-4-2 in his Ryder Cup career but struggled at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club. He went 1-2-1 for the week. The Europeans beat the U.S., 16.5-11.5. Thomas spoke glowingly of the experience despite the result.

“I just love it because it’s an opportunity – you’re playing for something bigger than yourself," Thomas said. "You’re playing for your country, your teammates, your captains. It’s a huge, huge sporting event, and I can’t suggest it enough to people to witness it, experience it if you haven’t before.”

It was Thomas’ second appearance on a late-night television show. Thomas appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" in 2022.

In an era where working from home is the overwhelming first choice in the US but where people still crave community, it's no wonder many are reporting a rise in interest in private members' clubs .

These clubs are not a new phenomenon in the US. In New York alone, the first opened their doors in the Gilded Age . Unsurprisingly, members were often men with deep pockets.

Fast-forward to 2024, and most private members' clubs in the city are gender-inclusive. But it still doesn't hurt to have money.

Soho House and Zero Bond are among the most popular clubs in New York. Members are charged upwards of $5,000 and $3,000, respectively.

But that's nothing compared to what members pay to join the Aman Club — a private members' club opened by the ultra-luxury hospitality resort chain of the same name in 2022.

Here's a sneak peek inside.

The club is situated within the Aman Hotel on Fifth Avenue.

The Aman in NYC is in The Crown Building on Fifth Avenue and 57th Street. The hotel is located within a building that has long been a fixture in midtown Manhattan.

It's over 100 years old, comprised of 26 stories, and screams luxury with its golden ornamental facade.

Besides the 83 suites and 22 private residences, two lounges are dedicated to club members.

Joining the Aman Club comes at a steep price. Members pay a $200,000 initiation fee and an annual recurring fee of $15,000.

Let's not beat around the bush: ultra-luxury comes at a price. How much, you ask? Well, a representative of the Aman Club told Business Insider that the global membership includes annual dues of $15,000 and an initiation fee of $200,000.

If it's any consolation, members can also "add up to four additional family members as registered members to enjoy the Aman Club membership benefits," a representative told the New York Post .

In 2019, Aman Resorts CEO Vlad Doronin told Bloomberg the membership grants access to two bars, restaurants, a private wine library, the cigar terrace, a subterranean jazz club, and the wellness area.

Amenities include the 25,000-square-foot heated indoor swimming pool.

The pool, located within the three-story wellness center, is bordered by lounging areas and glass-covered fire pits.

Upstairs, a 7,000-square-foot garden terrace with panoramic city views is only accessible to members, hotel guests, and residents.

The expansive garden terrace has a retractable glass roof, meaning members, hotel guests, and residents can relax and dine there year-round.

They can also enjoy drinks at the corner bar, which overlooks Fifth Avenue and 57th Street.

Suites at the hotel start at around $3,200 a night.

A representative for the club declined to share whether members receive a discount on hotel suites when asked by BI.

However, Tatler Asia reported they have access to a "private office" — staff members available 24/7 to look after their personal and travel needs.

Members get a 10% discount on food and beverages at the four exclusive dining areas.

An Aman Club policy sheet reviewed by BI states that members can settle monthly bills from dining and drinking at the club through their "House Account." If they spend $10,000 in a month, the bill will automatically be processed with the credit card on file.

But there is a perk: members receive a 10% discount on food and nonalcoholic drinks at the four dining areas at the hotel.

These include Arva, an Italian restaurant; Nama, a Japanese restaurant with an omakase dining experience; the garden terrace; and the lounge bar.

Members use a digital card to access the club and other exclusive spaces, such as the 25,000-square-foot wellness area.

When they arrive at Aman New York, members use a digital club card to access the exclusive facilities — including the restaurants, terraces, lounges, and, of course, the three-story, 25,000-square-foot wellness area.

Within the space are several different facilities, including the indoor pool, two distinct spa houses, a fitness center, a yoga and pilates studio decked out with reformers, a cryotherapy chamber, an InfraRed zone, a hair salon, and a nail salon.

The wellness area offers treatments like custom IV drips, electrolyte therapy, and acne management services.

Aman Club members don't just have access to a spa with massages, saunas, hot tubs, and pools; they can also take advantage of an array of treatments offered within the wellness area by in-house doctors, though they still have to pay for it.

The website names a few of the "non-invasive treatments" available, including custom IV vitamin drips, electrolyte therapy, acne management, and microneedling.

Perhaps the best benefit of the Aman Club is that members likely rub shoulders with A-listers who can't get enough of the luxury hotel chain.

The Aman Club remains silent on how many members it has and their identities. But in 2022, The Times of London reported that there was talk that all 600 membership slots had been filled.

Taking photos and videos inside the club is forbidden. Still, given the price of joining, it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine that many of the members enjoying the swanky facilities are high profile in some way or another.

But even if a member isn't a celebrity, they'll likely brush shoulders with them.

BI previously reported that a few A-listers who have stayed at an Aman hotel include George and Amal Clooney, Bill Gates, and the Kardashians.

Mayor Eric Adams renewed calls Tuesday for Albany to take aim at rampant recidivism in the wake of two horrific acts of violence that left an NYPD officer and an innocent subway rider dead.

The Adams administration held up the state’s revolving-door criminal justice system as one of the main unaddressed issues — along with mental health — driving the spate of crime and random violent incidents in the Big Apple.

“What’s interesting is that our practices, laws and policies are not going after these issues,” Hizzoner said during a sober conference from City Hall.

Adams highlighted Monday night’s bloodshed as a clear example of those problems coming to a head — with the shooting of 31-year-old cop Jonathan Diller allegedly by a career criminal in Queens and an unhinged man accused of shoving a 54-year-old man to his death at an East Harlem subway station.

“We’ve always had a problem with recidivism, it’s always been a problem but we’ve really never zeroed in on it with case after case,” Adams told reporters.

The state needs a “real analysis to what is feeding recidivism,” he said, noting, “It’s not a one-item problem.”

Adams’ administration has long lobbied the Legislature — unsuccessfully — to make reforms to discovery laws, which critics argue often leads overworked prosecutors to be forced to move to drop cases.

What to know about the fatal shooting of NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller:

• Diller, 31, was shot and killed during a routine traffic stop in Far Rockaway, Queens, on March 25, 2024.
• Suspect Guy Rivera opened fire on Diller on Monday evening after the cop approached the vehicle Rivera was in for parking in front of a bus stop.
• Diller was shot once in the stomach below his bulletproof vest. The married father of a 1-year-old boy was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
• Rivera was wounded when Diller’s partner returned fire. The suspect has 21 prior arrests and was found to have a shiv stored in his rectum during the shooting — in apparent anticipation of being sent to jail again.
• Lindy Jones, the ex-con behind the wheel of the car during the shooting, was also arrested after a second gun was found in his car.
• Mayor Eric Adams has renewed his calls for Albany to address criminal recidivism following the shooting involving two suspects with lengthy criminal records.

City Hall has also been calling for an amendment to Kendra’s Law — which can provide court-ordered treatment for those with mental health issues — to allow for more hospitalization of the mentally ill.

Renewing his plea for change, Adams called the current laws “out of alignment.”

In Albany, there’s been little movement for change on such issues as lawmakers work to hammer out a budget deal ahead of the looming April 1 deadline.

Gov. Kathy Hochul has pushed to increase penalties for criminals who repeatedly assault retail workers, but Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie swatted down that idea on Tuesday.

“A 31-year-old NYPD officer lost his life, his wife lost her husband, and their newborn child, less than a year old, lost their father. All because the legislature refuses and continues to refuse to react and act by changing these laws to keep criminals in prison,” Assemblyman Michael Durso (R-Nassau) said.

“It’s enough. New York needs to wake up,” added Durso, who represents the district where Diller lived with his wife and 1-year-old son.

“The blood is on the legislature’s hands.”

City Councilwoman Diana Ayala (D-East Harlem/The Bronx) echoed some of the mayor’s sentiments, but also called for a hearing to make sure the Big Apple is being as aggressive as it can be with the laws already on the books when it comes to helping those suffering from mental health issues.

“This is a combination of a lot of systems that are failing simultaneously,” said Ayala, chairperson of the council’s Committee on General Welfare, which oversees the Department of Homeless Services, and former head of the mental health committee.

“This is something that I had trouble getting people to the table about when I was the chair of the mental health committee,” added Ayala, who represents the area where the fatal subway shoving took place. “Everyone thinks we have laws and we’ve taken care of it – and have we?”

Man Killed by No. 4 Train After Being Pushed Onto Subway Tracks

A man was arrested and charged with murder after the attack in East Harlem, which the police described as unprovoked.

A 24-year-old man was arrested Monday night and charged with murder after pushing another man to his death on the subway tracks at a station in East Harlem, the police said.

The attack by the man, Carlton McPherson, was unprovoked, officials said. It took place at the 125th Street and Lexington Avenue station at 6:48 p.m., when Mr. McPherson shoved the man in front of an oncoming No. 4 train, officials said. The conductor was unable to stop the train in time to save him, the police said.

The police had not identified the victim as of Tuesday morning. A senior law enforcement official said Monday evening that the man who was in custody appeared to have a history of mental illness. He had several arrests in Brooklyn, the first one at age 16, the official said.

Train service at the station had resumed by 9 p.m. Monday, but a large number of police officers remained at the scene. Some riders expressed fear of violence on platforms and on trains.

“The subway has been insane lately,” Ray Velez, 60, from the Bronx, said as he waited on the platform two hours after the attack. “You have to look everywhere now. It’s just out of control.”

He added, “I wish someone would notice how many mentally ill people we have on the subways and try to get them out of the subway.”

Others who live and work near the station expressed a weary sense of frustration. They described regular encounters with people experiencing problems related to drug addiction, homelessness and mental illness, and their own efforts to remain on guard.

“I’m very careful” inside the station, said Geri Tolentino, 54, who has worked for two years at the Harlem Food Square deli, near the entrance to the 125th Street station. “It’s not surprising — there’s a lot of crime downstairs.”

The attack is the latest in a series of violent episodes that have led officials to increase the police presence in the subway and seek to reassure New Yorkers that the system is safe.

Earlier this month, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that she would deploy the National Guard and the State Police in the system to increase security and ease New Yorkers’ fears.

But less than two weeks after Ms. Hochul’s announcement, a fight on the A train that ended with a shooting reinforced the difficulties of policing every inch of the sprawling system. In that confrontation, captured in a dramatic video recorded by a passenger, a man who had been menacing a rider was first stabbed and then shot with his own handgun.

Monday’s attack happened hours after Police Department leaders had gathered at a different subway station on West 125th Street in Harlem to announce that an additional 800 police officers would be sent into the subway to crack down on fare evasion.

“Our riders should not be subjected to open acts of lawlessness anywhere in our subway system,” Timothy Skretch, deputy chief of the Transit Bureau, said at the news conference, “and that tone of law and order must start at the fare gates.”

Many New Yorkers’ fears about the subway rose during the pandemic, especially after a man with a history of mental illness assaulted Michelle Alyssa Go in January 2022, pushing her onto the southbound tracks as an R train pulled into the Times Square station. She was killed .

This year, a woman had both her feet amputated in early March after her boyfriend pushed her onto the tracks, where she was struck by a southbound No. 3 train. And a woman was hospitalized in critical condition last October after a man described by officials as emotionally disturbed shoved her in front of an E train that was leaving the 53rd Street and Fifth Avenue station.

Madonna Brings Out Erykah Badu For Dallas Tour Stop

Madonna's Celebration tour hit Dallas for its second night, and the Queen of Pop had a surprise in store for fans. She brought fellow superstar Erykah Badu onstage to judge the “Vogue” ballroom competition, much to the delight of the audience.

As dancers strutted across the makeshift runway, both Madonna and Badu gave perfect scores across the board. Madonna’s daughter, Estere, also wowed the crowd and closed out the segment with a memorable performance.

Badu took to social media to express her excitement, writing, “Madonna showed out! About Last Night. 4 decades of CREATIVE EXPRESSION!!!! This collaboration between Madonna and Badu marked their first public appearance together since a private party in 2022 celebrating Burberry’s Ricardo Tisci-designed “Lola” handbag. However, despite the celebratory atmosphere, Badu faced backlash from fans for previous comments perceived as shady towards Beyoncé. The Hive flooded her social media with criticism, questioning her support for Madonna while seemingly disregarding Beyoncé.

Responding indirectly to the backlash, Badu posted a photo with the caption, “What is swag?” but refrained from further comment.

Madonna's Celebration Tour has been known for its surprises, and the Dallas stop was no exception. In addition to Badu's appearance, Madonna performed her iconic dance-floor classic “Vogue” with an interlude featuring a drag show runway. As her dancers strutted, Madonna held up scorecards, a nod to New York ballroom competition culture.

But on this special night, Badu joined Madonna in the judging duties, adding her flair to the proceedings. Clad in a floor-sweeping gold cape and leopard-print beret, Badu sat alongside Madonna, delivering perfect scores for each dancer’s performance.

Charli XCX Plots 2024 International ‘BRAT' Tour Dates

Charli XCX announced the international dates for her 2024 Brat tour on Monday (March 25), which will be a mix of live concerts and what she's dubbed "partygirl" events. The run will kick off with a set at Primavera Sound Barcelona on June 1, followed by shows in London, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Mexico City before winding down on June 22 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Just hours after announcing the dates, the singer noted on Instagram that all the shows were already sold out .

At press time Charli had not yet announced the release date for BRAT , her sixth full-length album, though she did recently reveal that it is out this summer, contains 15 songs and is 41:23 long. The follow-up to her 2022 album Crash has been advanced by the uptempo first single, "Von Dutch."

Speaking to Billboard at this year's 2024 Women in Music event, Charli said that BRAT is a club record meant to evoke the illegal London rave scene of the early 2000s where she started performing as a 14 and 15-year-old, produced from a tight collection of sounds to create "this unique minimalism that is very loud and bold."

She also said that the album is "very direct" eschewing "metaphor and flowery lyricism" for language that is closer to the way she talks to her friends in text messages. "This record is all the things I would talk about with my friends, said exactly how I would say them. It's in ways very aggressive and confrontational, but also very conversational and personal," she said. "And not in that boring way where artists are like, ‘This is my most personal record.' To me, it feels like listening to a conversation with a friend.
