This winter, El Alfa will embark on his La Leyenda del Dembow Tour. The trek will kick off on Oct. 12 in Houston, TX. Throughout November and December, El Alfa will perform concerts in major cities like Los Angeles, Miami, Boston, Orlando, and Chicago. He will also return to Madison Square Garden, though that concert is already sold-out.

Pre-sale tickets for La Leyenda del Dembow Tour went on sale today. Tickets to the general public will be released on Wednesday, June 7, at 10 a.m. local time. Fans can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster, AXS, or ATG tickets. El Alfa’s tour will wrap up in Illinois on Dec. 15.

Earlier today, El Alfa was added to the line-up for Rolling Loud Miami. He will make history at the festival as the first dembow artist to perform at any Rolling Loud event. Anuel AA was also added to the line-up. The Puerto Rican singer will become the first reggaeton artist to appear at the festival. Rising Puerto Rican rapper Yovngchimi and superstar Ice Spice will also rep our Latine communities at Rolling Loud Miami as well. The festival will take place from July 21 to 23 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL.

Recently, Mexican rapper and singer Peso Pluma took a trip to the Dominican Republic. While there, he reportedly recorded a collaboration and music video with El Alfa.

El Alfa: La Leyenda del Dembow Tour Review

Written by leydi gonzalez on october 18, 2023.

El Alfa , el jefe, el criminal, the best arrived at the Smart Financial Center as the first stop of the USA tour of La Leyenda del Dembow Tour.

Thousands of fans flocked in from the greater Houston area on a Thursday afternoon for the Dembow sensation, El Alfa. The Dominican artist has been gaining attraction across the globe as the pioneer of the sound of Dembow for the catchy, repetitive and booming sound that crosses borders.

The night started off with the Dominican artist La Materialsta (the materialist). In a performance filled with choreography and catchy upbeat songs, the performer knew how to start the party in Houston. She performed songs like “ Te Lo Compre ,” “ Taka Taka ” and her smash hit, “ La Chapa Que Vibran .” Her pearly two-piece outfit shined throughout her set while reminding the ladies in attendance to know their worth.

The star of the night El Alfa came out on stage to the roaring Houston crowd. He wore a black and yellow sweater, jeans, a New York fitted hat and glistening jewelry. El Alfa had great energy throughout the show and his smile and dance moves made the venue feel like a nightclub. The crowd was on their feet the whole night vibing to songs like “ Plebada ,” “ 4K ” and his feature on Bad Bunny’s “ La Romana .” He showed immense love to the Latino community by constantly calling out different countries so they would feel represented, especially the Dominican Republic and Mexico.

“Paramos o segiumos?” said El Alfa as he continued to have a blast on stage. As a surprise for Houston, he brought out the Dominican Artist Kiko El Crazy . Kiko had the opportunity to get on stage and he took full advantage of it. El Alfa and Kiko began to perform together and even had a dance battle. In the end, Kiko had so much energy El Alfa gave in and was just laughing on the side. To end his time on stage Kiko serenaded the Houston crowd with a great cover of “El Rey” by Vicente Fernandez .

El Alfa continued on his show by getting fans’ phones and gladly recording a personal video of him on stage. He did this for multiple fans and at one point his diamond chain snapped off but he continued on. The Dembow pioneer had Houston out of their seats bouncing along with him, including the legendary Johnny Dang.

“Miren como se ponen por estas palabras” (look at the way y’all act because of these words) said El Alfa as he wrapped up his show with “ La Mama de La Mama. ” The show was one truly entertaining and fun, there was not one song where the crowd was tired or bored. El Alfa is continuing his USA tour so catch him if you can!

Editor’s Note: The list features only U.S. tours and is updated on a biweekly basis. Tours that have already ended have been removed from the list .

Ever since the touring industry rebooted in 2021, Latin music has become increasingly popular, with some of its biggest acts announcing tours in 2022 — including Bad Bunny, who closed out the year with a record-breaking $435 million in tour grosses that combine more than 80 concerts from two separate treks (El Último Tour del Mundo and The World’s Hottest Tour).

Colombian star Karol G also made history, becoming the highest U.S.-grossing tour by a female Latin act with her $Trip Love Tour, grossing $69.9 million and selling 410,000 tickets across 33 shows in North America, according to numbers reported to Billboard Boxscore. The “Bichota” singer surpassed Jennifer Lopez‘s $50 million grossing It’s My Party World Tour in 2019.

While Bunny and Karol made the rounds, two of reggaetón’s big dogs, Daddy Yankee and Wisin y Yandel, also kicked off their individual farewell tours.

The former wrapped his La Última Vuelta World Tour with $197.8 million and 1.9 million tickets sold over 83 shows in 2022, making it the second-biggest tour by a Latin artist in Boxscore history. The latter wrapped the year with a historic residency of 14 sold-out concerts at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, part of the duo’s La Última Misión World Tour.

Other memorable treks last year included Feid, Christian Nodal, Sebastian Yatra, and Rosalía, whose Motomami World Tour grossed $28.1 million through the end of October.

When is the next total solar eclipse in the US after 2024 and what is its path? What to know

The highly anticipated 2024 total solar eclipse will cross North America on Monday , giving millions of sky-gazers the chance to see a rare cosmic event that won't be viewable again for 20 years.

The eclipse's  path of totality  will travel over a portion of northern Mexico before entering the U.S. It then it will cross 13 states  from Texas to Maine, where the spectacle is expected to attract huge crowds.

If you aren't lucky enough to be in the path of totality this time around, you will have another chance - you'll just have to wait until the 2040s.

Here's what we know about the next total solar eclipse to cross over the U.S.

Eclipse playlist: Fans return to Bonnie Tyler's 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' ahead of total solar eclipse

When is the next total solar eclipse visible from the U.S.?

It will be 20 years before there's a chance to  witness a total solar eclipse  in the United States again.

According to NASA, after Monday's total solar  eclipse , the next one viewable from the contiguous U.S. will be on Aug. 23, 2044.

2044 total solar eclipse path of totality

Unfortunately, the 2044 total  solar eclipse  won't have the broad reach across the U.S. as the 2024 eclipse.

The path of totality during the 2044 eclipse will only touch three states, according to the Planetary Society, a nonprofit involved in research, public outreach, and political space advocacy.

The eclipse will begin in Greenland, sweep through Canada and end around sunset in Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Pets and the eclipse: Will my pets be safe during the April 2024 solar eclipse? What experts say.

2045 solar eclipse

While the 2044 total eclipse will only touch three states, a 2045 eclipse will have a more robust path across the U.S.

Expected to occur on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2045, this solar eclipse will trace a path of totality over California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.

A partial solar eclipse will also be viewable in 35 other states, according to National Eclipse.com

What is a total solar eclipse?

Any celestial object like a moon or a planet that passes between two other bodies can create  an eclipse  by obscuring the view of objects like the sun.

In the event of a solar eclipse, the moon comes in between the Earth and the sun, blocking its light from reaching a small part of our planet. Partial eclipses, when some part of the sun remains visible, are the most common, making total eclipses a rare sight to behold.

Total eclipses can lead to a period of darkness lasting for several minutes, during which time nocturnal animals stir while confused birds and insects may fall silent, NASA says.

When a solar eclipse reaches totality, people are able to see the sun’s outer atmosphere called the corona, which is usually obscured by the sun's bright surface. This offers scientists an uncommon opportunity  to study the corona .

Totality also offers spectators a chance to gaze upon the spectacular sight with the naked eye, though  proper  safety  glasses  are still required for the rest of the time.

What states are on the 2024 eclipse path of totality?

Mexico's Pacific coast will be the first location in continental North America to experience totality, which is expected to occur at about 11:07 a.m. PDT,  according to NASA .

As the moon's shadow will northeast, totality in the U.S. will begin in Texas at 1:27 p.m. CDT. The path will then cut diagonally across the country, traveling through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont and New Hampshire.

The eclipse's path is expected to end in Maine at 3:35 p.m. EDT before visiting the maritime provinces of Canada, according to estimates.

Alemanes, ingleses, nórdicos… antes no eran aficionados nuestros.

Visión ‘made in USA’

Argentina reinforces ties with the US with purchase of used F-16s

President javier milei chose this option over china’s offer of newer aircraft with better weapons, at a time when washington is trying to curtail beijing’s influence in latin america.

Aviones F-16

On Tuesday the government of Argentina will formally sign the contract to purchase 24 U.S.-made, second-hand F-16 fighter jets. The combat aircraft are about 40 years old and are being sold by Denmark, which is going to replace them with the more modern F-35s. The decision by Argentina President Javier Milei to choose the American-made but used aircraft over China’s offer of new JF-17s with better weapons equipment was ultimately a geostrategic one: the United States is interested in stopping China’s advance in Latin America and Milei is interested in being appreciated as an unconditional partner of Washington and Israel. Unlike his predecessors, the Argentine president has chosen to distance himself from the Asian giant without regard for the commercial and financial ties that exist between the two countries. Defense and aviation experts have defended the choice of the F-16s, which will start being delivered in 2025, but they have also warned that there is a second pending contract with the United States that is key: the weapons system with which the airplanes will be equipped. The total estimated cost is around $360 million, which Washington will partially finance.

Years ago, Argentina began the search for aircraft that would allow it to recover the supersonic capacity it lost a decade ago, when it decommissioned the Mirage with which it fought in the Falkland Islands war in 1982 against the United Kingdom. The biggest obstacle was always the British veto. London opposes the sale of any military equipment containing British components to safeguard its dominance of the South Atlantic islands against Argentina’s sovereignty claims over them. That veto forced Argentina to discard the Swedish-made Gripen, one of the options under consideration, and it also ruled out the Super Etendard that former president Mauricio Macri bought with the argument of repelling a possible attack during the G-20 summit held at the end of 2018. The British refused to sell spare parts for the seats, and those planes were never able to take off.

The most competitive offers that the Argentine government had on the table were the Danish F-16s and the JF-17s offered by China. The F-16 are multipurpose aircraft, that is, they can carry out a wide range of tasks, from air combat to attacking ground targets. They are fast, easy to maneuver and have been used by the air forces of almost 30 countries. “They have in their favor that they are airplanes with a very proven system, with more than 50 years of experience,” says Andrei Serbin Pont, a security and defense specialist. The JF-17s, on the other hand, have more modern technology and China was willing to deliver them with a range of more modern and longer-range weapons. But the security expert notes that “the JF-17 generated doubts about its logistical support because it was a poorly tested system, and because of its modernization costs.” The purchase of military aviation, he adds, is always a long-term bet that requires guarantees that the supplier will provide training and spare parts.

“The first offer from the United States for the F-16s was not very good because it included only airplanes with very basic weapons,” says the historian and defense analyst Santiago Rivas. “That is why Argentina began to move forward with China, which offered weapons of all kinds and made that offer more tempting, although it had the drawback that it was a totally unknown system that is only used by Pakistan, Myanmar and Nigeria, and it implied the risk that if it could not be adapted, it would be out of service,” adds Rivas, who is the editor of a magazine specializing in military aviation, Pucara Defensa . “As a result of progress with China, the United States greatly improved its offer and included air-to-air missiles, surface missiles, advanced target recognition and electronic warfare equipment.”

The diplomat Diego Guelar underscores that the sale also entails the end of the British veto thanks to the fact that the United States fought “tooth and nail” to ensure that China does not become a major arms supplier in Latin America . “The JF-17 is a good product and China was facilitating credit and providing weapons,” says Guelar, who served as Argentine ambassador in both China and the U.S.

Deterrence capability

In its first months, the Milei administration has applied severe cuts in public spending on pensions, education, health, science and public works, in contrast with its significant investment in defense. Why does Argentina need fighter planes? At a time when the world is experiencing an escalation of war, they represent a deterrence tool against potential external threats. The F-16s that will arrive in Argentina have been modernized and maintained in very good condition by Denmark. Despite their age, experts agree that with them the Argentine Air Force will once again be among the most advanced in the region, only behind Brazil and close to Chile.

Given the bad experience of previous acquisitions, lingering doubts will only be dispelled once the deal with the United States has been signed. The most memorable experience involves 30 Fightinghawk fighter jets purchased by the neoliberal president Carlos Menem in 1997. “Then weapons were not negotiated, just airplanes were purchased, and it was proposed that the weapons would be purchased later, but that never happened,” recalls Rivas. “For the summit of presidents held in Mar del Plata in 2004, the United States delivered some missiles, very few.” This expert says there were initial fears in the Armed Forces that the same thing would happen this time around.

Of the fighters purchased by Menem, “eight remain in good condition,” said the former defense minister Jorge Taiana a few days ago. The veteran politician stressed that Argentina had a real need to recover its supersonic capacity, and he welcomed the fact that the United States authorized a purchase for which the United Kingdom did not exercise its veto. Still, he made it clear that the move is also very convenient for Washington. “The goal for the U.S. is not for us to have the F-16s, it is for us not to have Chinese aircraft,” said Taiana in statements to the online media outlet El Destape .

Although they improved the initial offer, the weapons that the Argentine fighters will be equipped with will not pose an effective threat to the British defense of the Falkland Islands. “Everything is short and medium range, defensive. That was the British request to the United States. It is not useful for a potential conflict with the British,” a former senior military leader consulted told the newspaper Clarín .

The Argentine Minister of Defense, Luis Petri, will lead the signing of the contract on Tuesday instead of Milei, who had been scheduled to be present. The president had even undergone medical checkups in order to fly as a co-pilot in one of the aircraft, but Iran’s recent attack on Israel made him suspend the trip to Denmark and return to Buenos Aires to head a crisis committee. Argentina is the country with the largest Jewish community in Latin America, and three decades ago it was the victim of two terrorist attacks against Israeli targets.
