Rates at Hilton Vallarta Riviera All-Inclusive Resort start at $366 a night or 91,000 points per night , based on double occupancy.

St. Lucia is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean, and Jade Mountain — an independent resort offering all-inclusive pricing options — might be one of the most beautiful resorts. There are picture-perfect views of the island and its geological splendors from each of the 24 unique "sanctuaries," or suites. Every accommodation (except for whirlpool suites) also includes a large private infinity pool, 15-foot-high ceilings and an open fourth wall to allow for unobstructed views of paradise.

Meals of "tropical cuisine" are served around an infinity pool at Jade Mountain Club , helmed by James Beard Award-winning chef Allen Susser. At the Kai en Ciel spa, couples can indulge in "The Alchemy of Two;" it's a 110-minute experience ($595) that unites the loving duo through massages, poetry and handcrafted chocolates. Not everyone loves the all-inclusive spirit, but at Vermont's Twin Farms, the experience is so unique that even the biggest naysayer will fall in love.

A trip to Montana's beautiful, natural landscape should be on everyone's must-experience list. At The Ranch at Rock Creek, you can have the best of it all without worrying about every little detail: The resort's all-inclusive pricing means most of what you want to experience is already paid for.

From intimate dining venues to rooms with romantic soaking tubs, Sandals invites travelers into an all-inclusive wonderland designed specifically for couples. Its 10 restaurants appease all palates, and options range from a chop house with tables under an imposing chandelier to a dreamy seafood restaurant on a wooden pier above the water. For a truly romantic experience, the resort can arrange a private candlelight dinner as well.

The resort's 404 accommodations run the gamut in offerings; there are swim-up suites, hideaway villas with private pools, honeymoon suites, and options that include butler service. Happily, a partnership between Citi ThankYou points and Choice hotels has led to some extremely lucrative deals on these all-inclusive properties. This is one of the best ways to book an all-inclusive resort, especially if you don't want to travel in luxury for cheap.

Let’s take a look at how, using these Citi ThankYou points, you can stay at all-inclusive resorts from just 10,000 points per night.

What are Citi ThankYou points?

For the unfamiliar, Citi ThankYou points are a type of transferable points currency. This means that when you use your eligible Citi credit card to make purchases, you’ll earn points that can be converted to any of its nearly 20 hotel and airline partners.

In 2021, Citi added Choice Privileges as its very first hotel transfer partner. While this was exciting news for Citi cardholders, even more exciting was the transfer ratio from Citi to Choice.

The rate at which Citi ThankYou points transfer isn’t universal for all Citi credit cards. Rather, your transfer ratio will depend on which Citi card you hold.

The following Citi cards transfer points to Choice at a 1:2 ratio:

Choice hotel brands include a handful of all-inclusive resorts scattered across Mexico and the Caribbean. Now, using Citi’s excellent transfer ratio, cardholders can snag themselves cheap all-inclusive resorts for as little as 10,000 Citi points per night.

How to transfer Citi points to Choice Privileges

The first step to booking your all-inclusive resort is transferring your Citi points over to Choice Privileges . To start, you’ll need to log in to your Citi account. Once there, you’ll see a sidebar on the right side of the page displaying the number of Citi points you currently hold. Just under your points bank, you'll see an option to redeem points.

Hit the “Redeem” button and you will be redirected to Citi’s rewards portal, where you can use your points to book travel , transfer to other partners or redeem points for statement credits . Here, you’ll want to navigate to the top toolbar that says “Travel,” then hit “Points Transfer” on the drop-down menu.

This will take you to the list of Citi’s transfer partners. You’ll want to scroll down to Choice and hit “Continue.”

At this point, you’ll see a sliding bar that will allow you to choose how many points you’d like to transfer. Keep in mind that Citi only allows you to transfer to Choice in 1,000-point increments. For example, if you try to redeem 6,300 points, it will just round down to 6,000.

After you’ve entered in your Choice Privileges account information and the amount of points you'd like to redeem, you will be taken to the final confirmation page for one last chance to make sure everything is in order. From here, simply click “Transfer Now” and the order will process. Note that Citi says most transfers are completed within 24 hours, but may take up to five business days.

Choice allows award bookings no more than 100 days in advance, so don’t transfer your Citi points too early.

Booking your all-inclusive resort hotel

Now that you have the points transferred to your Choice Privileges account, it’s time to find the resort vacation destination that’s right for you. Choice makes finding an all-inclusive resort fairly simple.

On the Choice home page , select the “All-Inclusive Resorts'' option above the search field. From there, pick the country you would like to travel to — you can choose either Mexico or the Dominican Republic — as well as the city you prefer.

Once you pick the location and travel dates, click the “Find Hotels” button. You will then see a page with all the available all-inclusive resorts in your preferred destination.

Choice Privileges doesn’t charge extra points for suites versus standard rooms, which can get you some pretty spectacular stays.

Let’s say you chose Cozumel, Mexico, as your destination. One potential option for you is El Cid La Ceiba Beach Hotel .

Choice doesn’t charge more points for different room types, which means you can stay in a one-bedroom oceanview suite for 30,000 points per night. There’s no need to fork over extra points for a room with a view.

If you’ve got either the Citi Premier® Card or the Citi Prestige® Card , this means you’ll be spending just 15,000 Citi ThankYou points for this all-inclusive resort. If you have any of Citi’s other cards, you’ll instead be spending 20,000 points per night — which is still a great deal compared to redeeming points with other hotel programs.

It gets even better. Since all-inclusive hotels provide all your food and drinks, they tend to charge per person rather than per room when paying for cash. The same isn’t true for reward redemptions with Choice. You’ll pay just the one flat rate.

Now, 15,000 is a great deal for an all-inclusive resort stay, but it can get even cheaper. Let’s take a look at the Emotions All Inclusive Juan Dolio in the Dominican Republic.

Although this hotel doesn’t have any suite offerings, it does allow you to reserve any of its rooms from just 20,000 points per night, depending on your travel dates.

The max occupancy for many of the rooms at this resort is four guests — and it’s still just 20,000 Choice points per night. Because Choice is a transfer partner with Citi, you could be spending as little as 10,000 Citi ThankYou points per night for four adults at this all-inclusive resort.

How good is this deal? Well, paying for this stay in cash would set you back $880. NerdWallet values Citi ThankYou points at 1.5 cents each . By transferring 10,000 Citi ThankYou points to book this resort, you’d be redeeming your points for a value of 8.8 cents each, which is phenomenal.

To put it another way, cardholders would be redeeming $150 dollars worth of points for an $880 stay. No matter how you frame it, the value of this stay is hard to pass up.

• Self-Catering: These resorts provide many amenities, and it’s up to you to use them. Most self-catering venues aren’t “all-inclusive” in that everything is included in your stay. Make sure you read the fine print.
• Half-Board: Half-board resorts are extremely limited compared to all-inclusive resorts. They might offer Continental breakfast, lunch, or dinner, but only with basic selections, and there are no snacks or desserts. Unlimited drinks, meals, and extras are usually off the table.
• Full-Board: Full-board resorts take things further than half-board but are much more limited. The hotel is located about an hour’s drive from Orlando and is just steps away from Legoland Florida and Peppa Pig Theme Park, making it a one-stop fun shop. Although Bungalows Key Largo doesn’t feel like a typical all-inclusive resort, it offers all of the same amenities and perks. Included in your rate are welcome drinks, unlimited dining at five different restaurants, premium alcoholic beverages, select wines and beers and various alcohol tastings. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to lounge and snack on small bites at one of the two pools or Jacuzzis or break a sweat working out at the Fitness Tiki Hut. Daily group yoga classes are also offered for those who want a more Zen experience.

Any vacation that includes the sun, sand, and ocean is a good one. But if you’re interested in elevating your experience even more, consider booking an all-inclusive resort.

In 2019, I stayed at an all-inclusive resort for the first time. The place I stayed in Turks and Caicos was the perfect way to take a step back from my hectic life and relax. Amenities such as food and drinks (including alcohol), poolside and beach service, and access to water toys were included in the cost of the stay.

The only downside to that trip was that I paid for it with cash — my hard-earned money that could've been set aside for investment opportunities. If you have a pile of hotel points stocked up, you may be able to score a similar stay at an all-inclusive resort for much less expense.

Hyatt Ziva Cancun

The Hyatt Ziva Cancun is a family friendly all-inclusive resort that will cost you just 25,000 points per night. This will give you a room with two queen-size beds. Each room comes with a complimentary minibar, free Wi-Fi, and it can sleep up to four people.

As with any all-inclusive resort, it’s all you can eat and drink, and the cost is included in your room rate. Also, there are eight restaurants and six bars, including a microbrewery, so you’ll have plenty of options.

Amenities include:

• Three infinity pools and two hot tubs
• Access to surfboards, kayaks, paddleboards and snorkeling gear
• Fitness center
• Beachside yoga

Like the Hyatt Ziva Cancun, the rooms at this resort boast a complimentary minibar, but advertise only water, beer, and snacks.

If your dream vacation includes a beach in the Dominican Republic, this Hyatt all-inclusive resort known as the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana costs just 25,000 points per night — nice and simple, just like the rest of them. That rate is good for a junior suite with a king-size bed. Your room also includes a mini-bar.

The resort has around a dozen restaurants and bars, which gives you plenty of options for food and drinks, and it also boasts swim-up bars in its infinity pools. Other amenities include:

• Non-motorized water sports
• Daily activities, including themed pool parties, arts and crafts, dancing classes, cooking lessons, and more

Hilton Dalaman Sarigerme Resort & Spa

The Hilton Dalaman Sarigerme Resort & Spa is nestled on a private beach on the Mediterranean Sea. This Hilton all-inclusive resort is also in close proximity to the Dalaman River. Rooms start at 70,000 points per night.

Although that’s a lot more than what Hyatt charges for its resorts, Hilton Honors points are generally a lot easier to come by. Also, remember you need to consider how much each point is worth. Hyatt points are worth more than three times as much as Hilton points on average.

Depending on how many points you have, rooms at this resort can have a garden view, river view, or sea view, though rooms with a sea view start at 128,000 points per night. There are several different room options, including swim-up suites and even lake house villas.

The Hilton Dalaman Sarigerme Resort & Spa features a whopping 23 restaurants and bars with a wide selection of international food options. Other features include:

• Ten swimming pools
• Tennis and squash courts
• Spa with a steam room, whirlpool, and Roman and Turkish baths
• Water sports
• Archery range
• Evening shows

The resort is just a short walk from the Sarigerme town center. There, and in the surrounding area, you’ll be able to visit 5,000-year-old monuments, enjoy underwater attractions, relax in natural mud springs, and more.

Hilton Puerto Vallarta Resort

This Hilton all-inclusive resort is family friendly but also features an adults-only area with an authentic Mexican atmosphere. You can stay at the Hilton Puerto Vallarta Resort for as little as 55,000 points per night, but reservations can get more expensive depending on the type of room and view you want. The most basic rooms have either a king-size bed or two queen-size beds, but you can book a junior suite or a full suite if you’re traveling with more people or just want a nicer place to stay.

Some of the amenities the resort provides include:

• Six restaurants and four bars
• Poolside and cabana service
• Complimentary Kids Club
• Daily activities, such as Spanish lessons, cooking shows, volleyball, and more

If you’re looking for a getaway on the Pacific coast in Mexico, the Hilton Puerto Vallarta Resort is one to consider.

The Westin Reserva Conchal, an All-Inclusive Golf Resort & Spa

This eco-friendly Marriott all-inclusive resort is nestled on Costa Rica’s North Pacific Riviera. Rooms start at deluxe junior suites with one king-size bed or two queen-size beds, a sofa bed, and a balcony. If you want more than that, you can upgrade with points or cash.

The Westin Reserva Conchal, an All-Inclusive Golf Resort & Spa is listed as a Category 8 hotel with Marriott, which means you’ll need 70,000 points during off-peak times, 85,000 during standard times, or 100,000 during peak season.

Property amenities include:

• Lagoon-style pool
• Tennis courts
• Refreshment center
• Fitness studio
• Nightly shows

As the name of the resort hints, it’s home to a championship golf course. But green fees are included in your room rate only if you purchase a golf package, though I couldn’t see an option to book one with points.

Holiday Inn Resort Ixtapa All-Inclusive

One of four all-inclusive resorts in the IHG portfolio, the Holiday Inn Resort Ixtapa is located on the Mexican Pacific coast near Zihuatanejo. Rooms start at 50,000 points per night, which gives you a standard room. I couldn’t figure out from the IHG website what’s included with the room. But as of March 2020, the hotel’s website states that its rooms were recently renovated, so you can likely expect a solid experience.

The resort has three restaurants and three bars, which doesn’t give you as wide of a selection as some of the other resorts on our list, but it’s still enough to enjoy something new every day. Other features include:

• Outdoor pool
• Water polo and beach soccer
• Business center

• Buy points: If you’re just shy of the number of points you need to book your trip, it may be a time when buying points or miles makes sense, especially if you need to book soon and don’t have time to wait for points earned with your credit card to post. Just keep in mind that buying points usually doesn’t provide good value. But if you just need a few thousand to reach your goal, it can be well worth it.
