Kabiru Dogo quits Wikki Tourists
The former lobi stars and sunshine stars coach tendered his resignation letter on tuesday.
Coach Kabiru Dogo has resigned from his position as Technical Adviser of the Nigeria Premier Football League club, Wikki Tourists.
PREMIUM TIMES authoritatively gathered Dogo tendered his resignation letter to the management of the Bauchi-based club Tuesday afternoon.
In the letter sighted by PREMIUM TIMES, Dogo highlighted his grievances and why he took the difficult but necessary decision to quit his position with Wikki Tourists.
“I also wish to state here for a record purpose and for the club, its fans and other stakeholders of the club that at no time was I issued an ultimatum by the club management.
“I only got to learn about such information from social media and other third parties and for this reason, amongst other reasons,” the resignation letter read in part.”
Frustration
Dogo wondered why the club, which says it has handed him an ultimatum for two matches, failed to make provision for him to attend the first of the two games in Port Harcourt against Rivers United.
A source close to the coach also confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES that the Wikki Tourists’ squad for the clash against Rivers United was not selected by Dogo.
“They have always been imposing players on him. He didn’t even make any input in the selection of players to Port Harcourt for the game against Rivers United,” the source revealed.
Dogo, who was appointed in August 2022, helped Wikki to a 10th-place finish after the club was initially heading towards relegation last season.
While requesting the payment of all his unpaid entitlements and that of his assistant and driver, Dogo expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Bauchi, Senator Bala Mohammed, Emir of Bauchi, Chief Imam of Bauchi as well as the management, staff and fans of Wikki Tourists.
Wikki Tourists are currently last in the Group B of the NPFL 2023 with just a single point from the 12 available after playing four league matches so far. But the outgoing coach insists the poor form is no fault of his.
“The team’s poor form isn’t a technical-related issue”. Dogo was quoted as saying in an earlier report.
PREMIUM TIMES’ findings show motivation is at an all-time low at Wikki, with the team’s travel now tortuous and the required funding not coming through as expected.
Meanwhile, there are indications Dogo may be hired in the coming days as two NPFL clubs are reported to have been monitoring his situation at Wikki; hoping to cash in on any development that leads to his exit from the Bauchi-based club.

Coach Abdullahi Maikaba Unveiled as New Technical Adviser of Kano Pillars FC”
Curious Case of Mustapha Salisu: A Rising Star’s Mysterious Absence
By Ellams Awwal
Mustapha Salisu, once prolific goal scorer for NPFL team Katsina United. In the previous two seasons, Salisu showcased his prowess emerging top goal scorer for the Chanji boys before embarking on a free transfer that led him back to Kano Pillars.
Now at Pillars Salisu, Known for his electrifying pace and skillful plays, has become an enigma this season. Despite starting several matches from the bench and making impactful appearances in five games, Salisu’s name vanished from the squad list after matchday 16, leaving fans puzzled.
Contrary to speculation about injuries, reliable sources confirm that Salisu is fit and well. The mystery deepens as it appears that he has fallen out of favor with Coach Abdul Maikaba, a surprising turn of events given the coach’s track record of providing opportunities to young talents.
This season witnessed Coach Maikaba’s commitment to nurturing emerging players, with a focus on building a formidable team around the likes of Mustapha Salisu, Tsamage, Muhammad Aminu, Mustapha Umar, and Mubarak Sani. These rising stars were set to complement the experience of seasoned players like Mustapha Yuga and Rabiu Ali Pele leading Pillars attack.
The absence of Salisu raises questions about the underlying dynamics within the team. Could there be more to this situation than meets the eye? Football enthusiasts are left wondering about the factors that led to Salisu’s sudden disappearance and the implications for Kano Pillars’ strategic lineup.
Ndagi Suleiman says: “Although a team is bigger than any player. I found it odd that while recently promoted Junior team players like Tsamage and Mustapha Umar makes it only two wingers the coach has at his disposal. I would have thought somebody like Salisu with more experience would be given more playing time.”
As the season unfolds, the spotlight remains on Mustapha Salisu, a missing piece in the football puzzle, whose absence sparks curiosity and speculation among fans eager to see the talented winger back in action.

It was exclusively revealed that, the government has not recognized any efforts for the Para Athletics team.
Up to now, there is no reason for the unnecessary financial support from the Kano State Government.
Because of this, Kano may miss out on the remaining days, which would not only discourage them but also have a negative impact on their overall development as athletes.
One of the players, urged the Kano government to intervene and provide the necessary funds to continue the participation of Kano State Para athletes in the Para Games.
In line with this, the Kano Athletics team appealed to the state government to allocate funds considering the vital role of the Kano crew, especially recognition, and success entirely of Kano State.
Another source Exclusively informed NIGERIAN TRACKER that since Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf approved the release of the funds ,the file was missing.
Since the begining of the game its the coaches that are buying foods for the athletes from their own pockets which is lessening the moral of the athletes throughout the games.

Npfl: newly appointed wikki tourist coach set super six target qualification.
- Latest News
The newly appointed Technical Adviser of Wikki Tourists, Coach Abdullahi Adamu, has set the target to qualify the ‘Bauchi elephants’ for the Super 6 tournament at the end of the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) abridged season.
Wikki Tourists who are second from bottom in Group B with a paltry 8 points from a possible 27 are faced with relegation but the young gaffer said there are no relegation worries for his team Nigeria soccernet gathered.
He assured the club’s teeming supporters that Wikki Tourists will turn around their fortunes in the second round and qualify for the Super 6.
The former Katsina United coach hinged his confidence on new acquisitions and the winning mentality he said he has been able to inject into Wikki Tourists players since his appointment as Technical Adviser.
What I have done basically is to change the mentality of the players. Most of them were demoralised. They were weighed down psychologically. So, I had to psyche them up, to bring them back to life mentally and physically and that is what is giving us results.
“In the last two seasons, we struggled to escape relegation but this time around, we are not going to face relegation worries. Instead, we want to fight to qualify for the Super 6 where everybody will see what we have been able to achieve.
“We have seen the teams in our group. We played against them so we have an idea of their strengths and weaknesses and we shall capitalise on them. We want to see how we can break into the first three and qualify for Super 6,” he said.
Under Coach Adamu, Wikki Tourists have picked up seven points in two wins, one draw and one loss at Rivers United.

Vodka Museum Tour with transport (excursion only)
Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.
Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow, a City Like No Other
Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.
Moscow Tours centering on Russian History
Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.
Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers
What is the best time to visit moscow.
Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide
How many days are enough in Moscow?
If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.
Do they speak English in Moscow?
As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.
Is it safe to travel to Moscow?
It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you. Atlanta Youth Travel Baseball Coach Dead After Collapsing During Game: 'The Whole Ballpark Went Silent'
The opposing team's coach said the incident was “probably one of the most devastating things I’ve experienced"
Doug Davis/Facebook
An Atlanta-based youth travel baseball team is mourning the loss of its beloved assistant coach after he collapsed and died on the field on Friday.
Doug Davis, an assistant coach, collapsed and suffered a "massive heart attack" during the team's game at Lake Point Sports in Emerson before he died, Fox affiliate WAGA-TV and ABC affiliate WSB-TV reported.
The DC Academy team's head coach, Sam Ray, told WAGA, "The whole ballpark went silent." He described the situation as "scary" and "eerie," adding that "it was something that you never want to be a part of."
The head coach told the outlet that both his son and Davis' son were there to witness the terrifying situation.

The opposing team's coach, Jeff Owens of the Canes Sports team, said the "scary moment" was "hard to put in words" after the incident, per the outlet.
In a written response to WSB, Owens said, “As soon as it happened, myself and the rest of the coaches rushed to Doug. Nurses and doctors came out of the stands onto the field.” He described the moment as “probably one of the most devastating things I’ve experienced.”
Owens told WAGA that his players "immediately" gathered around the DC Academy team and "began to pray with them" after Davis collapsed.
"It was a beautiful thing to see during a thing that was very hard to be a part of," Owens told the outlet, adding that the North Georgia "baseball family is very large" and "everybody knows everybody" in the baseball community.
Ray had been coaching the team alongside Davis for three years, per WAGA, and he "loved him like a brother" after becoming close to the assistant coach.
"I was fortunate enough to be right there by his side when it happened. That's one memory I will never forget," Ray said.
Davis was a wonderful coach to the 14+ team, Ray told the outlet. "His heart was full of gold. He loved the boys. He loved being around the boys, in particular, he loved being around his own son."
Davis is survived by his wife Pamela and children Dalton, Emma Grace, and Brooks, according to his obituary .
The family held a memorial service for the beloved coach at Burnt Hickory Baptist Church. They asked that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.

There are then some elements of street art, cafes and restaurants and some Moscow bohemian side. At the end of the island you can see a gigantic 98-meter-high monument dedicated to the Russian reforming tsar Pierre The Great.
Good to know! You can find on this island are the trendiest nightclubs in Moscow. On weekends, there are taxi caps after midnight so there are so many people. On the other hand, if you go there in winter and during the day, the island is quite empty and less interesting to see.
Gorky Park is one of the TOP places to visit in Moscow, because it allows you to better understand the life of the locals and their rhythm. In fact, it’s a huge entertainment park. For example, in winter there is a giant ice rink and in summer – free dance or yoga lessons, sandy beaches for playing volleyball, an outdoor cinema. So, like the locals, have a Stakantchik (ice cream or cooked corn), and enjoy the atmosphere of the place: that’s one of the interesting things to do in Moscow to discover the city.
- Where? Krymsky Val 9. 20 minutes’ walk from Krasny Oktyabr, along the quays.
Sparrow Hill and Moscow State University
The Sparrow Hill, Vorobiovy Gori in Russian, is the highest point in Moscow. It is rather known to Russians, but less to travelers. A nice view on Moscow opens from the hill, and in particular on the Luzhniki Stadium. In addition, on the hill itself is the Moscow State University: an impressive skyscraper from the Soviet era.
- How to get there? By bus T7 (35 min) from Oktyaborskaya station, near Gorki Park. By metro (Vorobiovy Gorki station) + climb the hill on foot. On foot along the Moskva along the Gorky Park (1h30) + climb in funiculars.
Good to know! It is possible to cross the Moskva river by funicular. We actually tested it and it was pretty cool! That is one of our favorite things to do in Moscow!
What to do in Moscow in 3 days?
If you are going to visit Moscow in 3 days, it would be interesting to dive into the Soviet era which strongly marked the country and the city. After the Bolshevik Revolution, the capital was transferred from Saint Petersburg to Moscow, in order to mark the change of power. Moscow then became the world showcase for communist ideology. Here are the best things to do in Moscow for 3-day-trip!
VDNKh, visit Moscow of the Soviet era
VDNKh is a large exhibition center in the north of Moscow, where there are still several striking witnesses of the USSR. The most interesting are the Museum of Cosmonauts and the Statue of the Worker and the Kolkhozian , which will certainly impress you with its size!
GULAG History Museum
The explanations of the museum are very well done. We really have the feeling of going back in time. If you are going to visit Moscow in 3 days and you are interested in history and this subject in particular, I recommend this museum. Visit the GULAG History Museum is one of the most interesting things to do in Moscow.
Discover the Patriarche Pounds district
It’s a nice neighborhood in Moscow where you can come across rather affluent locals, but not necessarily very bling-bling. Take a walk in this area is really a cool thing to do in Moscow! In addition, the Ponds of Patriarch is one of the places of Bulgakov’s novel “Master and Margarita”. As this is an interesting area to see, we have included it in a walking tour of Moscow. The route ends at the Moscow Kremlin, which is very convenient, because you will be able to visit Moscow in 3 days by optimizing your trips.
What to visit in Moscow in 4 days: TOP things to do in Moscow in 4 days
If you want to visit Moscow in 3 days, you will already see a lot of things. On the other hand, if you stay one more day, you have plenty to do! The Novodevichy Convent, the Tchistie Proudy district and the Izmaylovo Kremlin are very good candidates for you, if you are going to visit Moscow in 4 days.
Visiting Novodevichy Convent in Moscow
The Novodevichy Convent is one of the most brilliant examples of Russian architecture, according to UNESCO. This beautiful complex was built in 1524 and today consists of the convent, but also of a cemetery whose status could be compared to that of Père-Lachaise in Paris. Visiting Novodevichy Convent is one of the great things to do in Moscow, if you want to go a little bit outside of the center!
Discovering Tchistye Proudy district
It’s one of the most popular areas of Moscow, with many cafes, restaurants and bars nearby. It is therefore a place to discover if you want to visit Moscow in 4 days. It is just as pleasant for a stroll as for the discovery of local life. For example, in winter the pond turns into an ice rink.
Visiting the Izmaylovo Kremlin, one of the coolest things to do in Moscow!
The Izmaylovo Kremlin is more of a tourist than a historic place. On the other hand, it is a pretty impressive place to discover, especially on weekends. Inside the Kremlin, there is a flea market where you can find a little bit of everything, but mostly good souvenirs to bring from Moscow. For example, chapka, traditional Russian scarves or matryoshka (Russian dolls). Add the Kremlin and the Izmaïlovo market to your itinerary if you are going to visit Moscow in 4 days, because it is a nice and very colorful place! Visiting the Izmailovo Kremlin is one of the things to do in Moscow, if you want to put colors in your Instagram account! 😉
In 4 days, we will have the opportunity to see several Moscow: Classic Moscow, Moscow of old Russia, Soviet Moscow and a little bit of the new Moscow. So what to visit in Moscow on the 5th day of travel?
What to visit in Moscow in 5 days?
Art lovers will be delighted to discover the Tretyakov Gallery and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, while others will prefer to stroll along Arbat Street, see the buildings of Moskva-City or visit Bunker 42.
Admiring Russian art at Tretyakov Gallery
Founded in 1856 by an industrialist and great lover of art, the gallery has grown over the decades, and then bequeathed to the state. Today the collection includes more than 140,000 pieces, 15,000 of which are paintings. Visiting the Tretyakov Gallery is one of the things to do in Moscow if you want to discover Russian art!
- Where? Pereoulok Lavrouchinski 10. A 5-minute walk from Tretiakovskaya station
- Opening hours. Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Closed on Mondays.
- Entry tickets. 500 RUB.
Visiting the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts
The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts presents the treasures of ancient Egypt, the paintings of Rembrandt and Cézanne, a fine collection of Impressionism.
- Where? Ulitsa Volkhonka 12
- Opening hours. Daily: 10: 00-20: 00, except Thursday: 11: 00-21: 00. Closed on Mondays. The boxes close an hour before closing.
- Entry tickets. The prices vary according to the collections from 300 to 750 RUB.
Walking on Arbat Street
All Russians know Rue Arbat. So, walking on Arbat street is one of the things to do in Moscow. However, after the years, little by little it became very touristy. This is a pedestrian street only. There are souvenir shops, restaurants and cafes there, but it is no longer the most authentic neighborhood in the city.
Seeing the buildings of Moskva-City (Moscow City)
Moskva-City is Moscow’s business center, much like Paris’s Defense district. The skyscrapers of Moskva-City are among the tallest in Europe: 373 meters high! Very nice place to see at dusk.
Good to know! You can admire a nice view of Moscow City from the docks of Tarasa Shevchenko. It’s especially beautiful in the evening with all the lights on.
Bunker 42, one of the most unusual things to do in Moscow
Bunker 42 is a secret military complex which was to be used by the Soviets in the event of a nuclear attack: a space of 7000 m² 65 meters underground!
- Where? 5 Kotelnitcheski Lane, 11.
- Prices. 2200 RUB per person
- Opening hours. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Restaurant inside. Original, but rather a tourist trap.
What to visit in Moscow in 6 days or more?
There are still so many places to see, because Moscow is a big megalopolis and there is always something exciting to do there. For example: the ancient Kolomenskoye village or the WINZAVOD contemporary art center .
If you are interested in history and want to see Russian cities on a rather “human scale”, it would certainly be interesting for you to discover the cities of the Golden Ring . For example, it is very easy to get to Sergey Posad from Moscow (less than 2 hours in train). Visiting the Golden Ring is one of the best things to do in Moscow if you are staying more than a 5-6 days.
There are still plenty of places to see in Moscow, however I did my best to list here the best things to do in Moscow, what to see in Moscow in one day, but also in 2, 3, 4 or 5 days in Moscow!

Deion Sanders responds to story about his unique recruiting style: 'I'm Coach Prime'
The colorado football coach explained why he doesn't go on the road to recruit players..
Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders on Wednesday responded to a USA TODAY Sports story last week that documented his highly unusual recruiting style of not making a single home visit or off-campus contact with recruits since his hiring in Boulder in early December 2022.
“Coach Prime” brought it up at the end of his first news conference in Boulder since his team finished 4-8 in his first season on the job. He didn’t dispute the story, which detailed another way Sanders has approached his job differently than others in the changing game of college football . But he did explain why he does it that way and instead relies on recruits and their families coming to campus to see him instead of him going to see them at their homes as well.
USA TODAY Sports attempted to get his explanation of it nearly a week before publication but didn't hear back from the university. On Wednesday, he gave a short speech about it that he said he wanted to get “off my chest.”
“There was an article that came out that said I don’t go on visits,” Sanders said at a news conference about spring football practice. “OK, my approach is totally different than many coaches’ approach. I’m a businessman as well, so I try to save our university money every darn chance I get.”
Why does Deion Sanders not recruit on the road?
By contrast, many other coaches bring recruits to campus while also going on the road to their high schools or homes. Former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh made 145 off-campus contacts with recruits or their families since Dec. 1, 2022. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian made 128 and former UCLA head coach Chip Kelly made 55 during that time, according to records obtained by USA TODAY Sports from public-records requests.
The University of Colorado confirmed Sanders hasn't made any recruiting visits since his hiring.
“The parents, I love ‘em, and I want to show them Boulder," he said. “I want them to see this and how beautiful it is and why I’m so eager and how much I love this city and this state and this team. I want them to see that, because guess what? That’s why the kid is comin.’
"The kid comin’ here. Going there is just showcasing for me. That’s just blowing money. It’s blowing a bag, don’t make sense. I can’t do things other coaches can do. You know why? I’m Coach Prime. And I didn’t stutter when I said it.”
Why he doesn't use his $200,000 travel budget
The university previously confirmed to USA TODAY Sports that Sanders and his staff have not used a private air-travel service for recruiting despite the fact that the university budgeted $200,000 annually for it in his employment contract.
Sanders, 56, suggested that one reason he hasn’t used it is that his fame would cause too much of a stir at a recruit's home or school. He also noted he has relied heavily on recruiting transfer players out of the transfer portal instead of high school players. As the previous USA TODAY Sports story noted, transfer recruits are older players who have moved out of home and don’t necessarily need to be wooed by a home visit from another prospective coach.
“We target mostly guys that’s in the portal,” he said. “When do you make visits to portal guys’ homes? Anybody do that? Do they do that? Anybody? Have you guys heard of that?”
It does happen, though likely not as often as with high school recruits. Earlier this year, Ohio State coaches went to see Alabama safety Caleb Downs before he transferred to Ohio State, among other examples.
What are his results in recruiting?
Either way, his approach works for him, according to several metrics. His class of transfer recruits last year ranked No. 1 in the nation. His recruiting class for 2024 ranks No. 22 overall, including only seven high school recruits, according to 247Sports.
“I think when a guy is in his 20s and he has one or two more shots, he don’t give a darn about the picture," Sanders said. "He don’t give a darn about the parade that you want to take him on. He wants to know, 'OK, how you want to use me? How can you help me get to the league (NFL)? And what am I gotta get paid?’ That’s it. That’s the world we live in now. And I have never heard one guy say, 'I chose this college because this coach came by my crib.’ Have you? It’s different now.”
The fame factor for Deion Sanders
His fame as a Pro Football Hall of Famer and celebrity pitchman sets him apart from other coaches on the recruiting trail, allowing him to become known to more potential recruits while also making it harder to travel in certain respects.
“Let’s just say I’m going to Florida and I’m visiting whatever school, IMG (Academy),” Sanders said. “You don’t think the coaches are gonna be a little upset if I don’t come by the school down the street? You don’t think it’s gonna be pandemonium? … Or I’m gonna get naysayed if I don’t go another 45 minutes? Then if I go to that one then (they) go, 'Why didn’t I come to that school?’ Now the coach is mad so he’s not gonna let the kid come because he’s mad because I chose to go to that school over that school.
“Other coaches, they can do that, but I can’t,” he said. “I can’t. And I’ve really almost done a personal survey. I really, truly in all my heart believe that parents don’t want me at that house. They want to come see my house. They want to see how I live, how I get down. They want to see what I’ve got going on, what God has done in my life.”
Deion Sanders didn't want a home visit as a player
Sanders recalled his own recruitment as a player in the 1980s before he landed at Florida State under head coach Bobby Bowden.
"I know when I was in college, I did not want Bobby Bowden in my house, because I knew after 7 o'clock, it was gonna be rats and roaches on parade, doing their thang," he said with a laugh. "That was just straight … honestly, I didn’t. So that never transpired. That never happened for me."
