The Journey lyrics

All the times you thought you'd never make it through Felt just like the world just turned it's back on you Didn't stop you

All the times you could've give in and you'd given up Times you didn't know if you were strong enough Still you got through

Somehow it's all part of the plan The journey The journey The journey

It's the journey It's the getting there to where you're going to Going through hell but still you're gonna make it through It's the fire that they can't put out inside It's a hell of a ride

All the times they thought that they could hold you back But you've always known there was no chance of that You're made (You're made) too strong

And when you're going with your heart you can go Farther than you'd ever thought possible Prove them all wrong

It's a part of the bigger plan The journey The journey The journey

Every step you take Is the one (Oh) step on the way on the journey The journey The journey, yeah

It's the journey Oh, the journey

‘I Was Afraid of This Song’: H.E.R. on Her Big New Ballad

By Brian Hiatt

Brian Hiatt

To mix sports metaphors, H.E.R. ’s new song “The Journey,” which will soundtrack ESPN’s broadcasts of the NBA Finals, is a big swing — an old-school, hyper-melodic, live-instrument-driven ballad. And for H.E.R., who sees a gap between the energy of her live shows and her recorded output to date, it’s the kind of song she’s had in her all along. She tells Rolling Stone about recording “The Journey,” explains how it reflects a rough year for her (which includes an ongoing legal battle with the record label she signed to at age 14), and offers a preview of what’s next — from her next album to her role in the upcoming film of The Color Purple musical (in which she will use her real name, Gabriella Wilson.)

And the world’s never heard that song you made with her back then? Yeah, no, the world’s never heard it. It was a song we did a long time ago. I need to hear it again! I don’t think I’ve heard it since then. It’s so funny how it’s a full circle moment for me working with her.

Editor’s picks

The 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history, every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term.

So I texted her at that time, and she was like, “That’s crazy that you texted me, because I just put the pen down. I’ve been working on this song that I think would be amazing for you.” I went to her studio in January, and she played me the song. I was almost in tears, because the lyrics are so on-point with everything that I’ve been through lately. It felt like a meant-to-be moment. It was very much like God, very much divine timing. We both felt it in the room. Right then and there, I was playing the chords and doing my own things to it. I changed some of the things and made it a “me” song. I got very emotional when I was recording it, very much in tears.

It’s really a showcase for your voice. There was a big note at the end of the song. It was one take, which is pretty crazy. This is a song where people really get to hear my vocals. They’ve never heard me sing like this on a record. So I’m really, really excited for people to hear it and to experience what they would hear live from me, on record.

Here's How to Watch Sports on ESPN, Even If You Don't Have Cable

Here's where to get new york knicks tickets online, warriors vs. bucks livestream: where to watch tonight's nba game online.

When you talk about what you’ve been through in the past year, what did that mean emotionally? I had a coming-of-age moment. There’s a time in the music industry before anybody cares or knows who you are, you’re just doing it because you love it. Then it turns into more. There’s so much you don’t know, so much you’re learning about yourself. I was focused on the gratitude, being happy to be here, being on autopilot.

Now I’ve learned how to be intentional about what I want out of my career, what it means to be a leader and director of my own destiny.  Everyone around you is not always pure in their intent, not always on the same page as you. It’s important to look out for yourself, believe in yourself, balance that with what’s the right thing versus what you feel. Opinions come in, success comes, everybody has their thoughts on what it should be.

I asked myself: What are you doing this for? My ‘whys’ are changing. I’m not the same person I was at 18. I had to make a lot of tough, tough, tough, tough decisions. I had to believe in myself. I had never felt so lost. I had never felt so uncertain. And that was a really hard thing for me.  Now I’m happier, lighter, more proud of the person I’m becoming. I’m in a good place, and on top of that, I’m taking my own advice, being comfortable with vulnerability. I’m living by “What’s bad for the heart is good for the art.” I’ve been trying to live by that, go with how I feel, let the music speak, and bring people into my world.

You’ve had a reggae album in your back pocket for a while. What’s the status on that one? I don’t really know when I want to release it. It’s one of those things. I have this great body of music, and as a creative, there are so many projects I want to do. It’s just a matter of when. Those songs are definitely in the chamber. We’ll see when it feels right. I’ve been super-organic about it, but the music exists.

And are you still shooting the film musical of The Color Purple ? It’s done! It’s out in December, and I’m so excited for people to see it. I got to see a little bit of it, and I’m so excited. Like, it’s so beautiful. The experience I had was amazing. The cast is insane. And Blitz [Bazawule] is an amazing director. Everything about it is really exciting to me. And yeah, it’s my acting debut, so I can’t wait for people to see me on a big screen.

H.E.R. Releases Encouraging Song ‘The Journey’

It was written by the legendary diane warren..

H.E.R. The Journey single cover

RCA Records

H.E.R. is back. The Grammy-winning and Oscar-winning musician has officially released “The Journey,” written by the legendary Diane Warren .

As empowering and thoughtful as her previous releases, “The Journey” allows H.E.R.’s titanic vocals to soar effortlessly over the cinematic,  uplighting backdrop of piano, drums and electronic guitar.

H.E.R. uses this perseverance anthem to remind listeners not to go off course but stick to the plan, with a flood of possibilities awaiting.

She sings in the chorus: “It’s the journey / It’s the getting there to where you’re going to / Going through hell but still you’re gonna make it through / It’s the fire that they can’t put out inside / It’s a hell of a ride.”

“The Journey” was first announced in April as part of ESPN’s storytelling for the 2023 NBA Playoffs Presented by Google Pixel. Since then, it’s been featured in various ESPN in-game production elements.

lyrics to the journey by her

Tim Corrigan, ESPN’s vice president of production, said, “The NBA regular season is one long journey, and taken you get the NBA Playoffs, which is a journey of its own. All 16 teams have their own paths to accomplishing their goal of an NBA Championship. And, as the song says, ‘it’s a hell of a ride.’ We are honored that H.E.R. chose to team up with ESPN to help introduce this song to the world. It’s another great example of what we can do at the intersection of sports and music.”

H.E.R. added, “As an NBA fan, I’m so grateful to be part of this year’s ‘Journey’ to the NBA Finals.”

Two other songs from H.E.R. are slated to soundtrack this year’s NBA Playoffs, including DJ Khaled’s collaboration “ We Going Crazy ” from his 2021 KHALED KHALED album and “Glory,” an unreleased song.

Before “The Journey,” H.E.R. hasn’t released new music since last year’s “ Dance To The Music ” from the Minions: The Rise of Gru compilation. She also contributed to NxWorries’ 2022 return single “ Where I Go .”

H.E.R.’s debut album, Back of My Mind , arrived in June 2021. The Grammy-nominated album included a streak of hits, “Damage” (which peaked at No. 1 on urban and R&B radio ) and “ Come Through ” featuring Chris Brown. The latter landed an RIAA certification , as did its Herb Alpert-sampled predecessor .

H.E.R. Back Of My Mind

Back of My Mind wound up getting certified gold less than three months after its release and earned a spot on Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2021 list .

In a recent interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music, H.E.R. confirmed that her next album is in the works and she is taking her time with it. “You going to get it when you get it,” she said. “I’m in the studio. And this is the thing is I’ve been forced to pay attention to these deadlines and all these. I don’t care about this stuff anymore. I just want to make music. And when I feel like it’s ready, it’s going to be ready and you’ll get it.”

Beyond music, H.E.R. is making rounds in the acting field. After appearing as the first Black Filipina Belle in the live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast , H.E.R. will portray Squeak in The Color Purple musical film, set to debut on Christmas Day.

Directed by Blitz Bazawule, The Color Purple will include appearances by Fantasia (Celie), Danielle Brooks (Sofia), Halle Bailey (young Nettie), Corey Hawkins (Harpo), Ciara (adult Nettie) and more.

Up next for H.E.R. is a headlining show on June 15 at The Chicago Theatre in Chicago, Illinois. The event, presented by Sapphire, is exclusive to Chase cardholders only. Ticket and more information is available at ticketmaster.com .

Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Is a Musical Journey Through Grief

The Colombian icon sings openly about her heartbreak on her newly released 12th studio album

topshot colombian singer shakira arrives for the screening of the film elvis during the 75th edition of the cannes film festival in cannes, southern france, on may 25, 2022 photo by loic venance afp photo by loic venanceafp via getty images

The 16-track album is a return to the Colombian singer’s roots—the lyrics are all in Spanish, and she has brought back the iconic guttural voice predominant in her early work. Most notably, Las Mujeres —whose title translates in English to Women No Longer Cry — details Shakira’s entire journey through grief after losing the man she thought was the love of her life, father of her children Gerard PiquĂ© .

Eight of its songs were already out when the album dropped, but the other half are brand new and show different sides of Shakira’s experience leading up to where she is today: a world-famous artist still releasing hits 30 years into a phenomenal career, juggling her new life as a single mother.

Ahead, we break down everything Shakira says about her ex on her new album.

“La Fuerte” (“The Strong One”)

On the second track of the new album, Shakira admits to missing the person who broke her heart, saying that although she doesn’t reach out to him because of her pride, she still thinks of him, and his absence still hurts. Translated from Spanish, the first verse goes:

If I had known it would be the last time I would have enjoyed you more But I didn’t take advantage of you And for believing that you had no expiration date I saved kisses for later, I was left with the desire I would be lying to you if I said that seeing my photos with you doesn't hurt me Because they hurt If I don't look for you it’s because I also have my pride Don’t think that I don’t miss you

Then, the chorus: “Another night I spend without seeing you / Another night that I act strong / I deleted your number, and for what? Yes, I already know / I don’t forget you no matter how much I pretend.”

“(Entre ParentĂ©sis)” (“Inside Parentheses”)

This heart-wrenching song is about how it feels to your partner in a relationship fall out of love over time. Shakira sings:

Tell me what happened to you, why do I feel you cold? Your kisses no longer taste like they used to You still sleep in my bed, but it feels empty Tell me what happened, you’re not the same as before It seems this isn’t important to you anymore There are things in life so obvious there’s no need to say them

“Última” (“Last One”)

In the heartbreaking final song of the first half of the album, Shakira sings about coming to terms with the end of a relationship that was meant to last. “I lost my love halfway / How come you got tired of something so genuine? / Don’t try to convince me, I ask you / It’s already decided, we have what we learned,” the lyrics read in Spanish.

She recalls the moments, toward the end of the relationship, when they no longer had anything in common: “You wanted to go out and I wanted to stay with you at home / You take on the world and I just wanted to have you / Not even your friends matched mine anymore / It was easier to mix the water and oil.”

In the chorus, Shakira sings that maybe one day both of them will come to regret not fighting for one another, but for now, she “must learn to be alone.”

“Te Felicito” (“I Congratulate You”)

In this angry (but very dancy) track from her early days of singlehood, following her very public breakup from Piqué, Shakira sings about all the sacrifices she made for the person who left her, and accuses him of being dishonest about his love for her.

“For completing you I broke myself into pieces / They warned me, but I didn’t pay attention / I realized that your love is false / It was the straw that broke the camel’s back,” she sings in Spanish.

While she doesn’t technically name any names in this song, Shakira has spoken openly about how she put her music career on hold for years to support PiquĂ© in his soccer career. She has said she moved to Spain for him and dedicated herself to raising their two boys, despite knowing it would have been better for her to stay in the United States for her music. (She has since moved back to Miami with their sons, Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9.)

“Don't tell me you're sorry / Seems sincere, but I know you well and I know you lie,” she sings. “Congratulations, you act so well.”

The song is also Shakira’s first collaboration with the king of modern reggaeton, singer-songwriter Rauw Alejandro. The two later recorded “CohĂ©te” together as well.

  • “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”

In perhaps her most vicious track yet, Shakira sings about being betrayed by a partner, who left her for someone less intimidating.

“Sorry, baby, I should have thrown you out a while ago / A she-wolf like me is not for rookies / A she-wolf like me is not for guys like you / For guys like you / I’m too good for you and that’s why you're with someone just like you,” she sings in Spanish.

In the self-evidently autobiographical bop, Shakira sings about PiquĂ© leaving her in a house next to her estranged in-laws and even addresses her tax evasion battle with the Spanish government. She seems to suggest that the soccer star left her amid all these troubles, so now she’s making music about her heartbreak and getting her money’s worth:

I’m not getting back with you, don’t cry for me, nor beg me I understood that it’s not my fault that they criticize you I only make music, sorry that it bothers you You left me the in-laws as my neighbors Media outlets at my door and in debt with the government You thought you hurt me, but you made me stronger Women don’t cry anymore, they cash in

In the original Spanish, Shakira even subtly mentions her ex’s name: “ EntendĂ que no es culpa mĂa que te critiquen / Yo solo hago mĂșsica, perdĂłn que te (sal)pique .” Then she not-so-subtly drops the name of his new girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti .

One verse in the original Spanish version goes: “ Tiene nombre de persona buena / Claramente no es como suena / Tiene nombre de persona buena / Claramente es igualita que tĂș.” Claramente means clearly , but Clara is also the name of the soccer player’s new love.

“TGQ” (“It Was Big on You”)

The title of the track comes from the phrase Te quedó grande , or “It was big on you,” translated more accurately in this case: “I was out of your league.” Shakira—with Karol G —sings about a man who left her and immediately found a new girlfriend, only to come back looking for her soon after, while still with the other woman.

“Baby, what happened? / Thought you were very in love? / What are you doing looking for me, honey / If you know that I don’t repeat mistakes / Tell your new babe that I don’t compete for men,” she sings.

Shakira adds that now, she is the one that has moved on, as it’s clear he is with the person he deserves, and she was much too good for him.

The rest of the songs don’t seem to reference PiquĂ©, but rather address other romantic and life experiences. In “CohĂ©te” (“Rocket”) and “Nassau,” Shakira sings about the thrill of a budding relationship; and in “Copa VacĂa” (“Empty Glass”), she and Manuel Turizo sing about wanting someone who doesn’t always want them back. “PunterĂa” (“Aim”), featuring Cardi B , is about the fiery sexual tension in a relationship.

In “CĂłmo DĂłnde y CĂșando” (“How Where and When”), Shakira sings about enjoying life with the people you love and seeing the light despite the bad. Similarly, “AcrĂłstico” (“Acrostic”), which she sings with her two young sons, is about wanting to shield her boys from pain, finding joy in their smiles, and learning from them that true, unconditional love does exist.

In the kind of welcome change of genre that Shakira has learned to perfect, her ranchera track “El Jefe” (“The Boss”) with Mexican-American band Fuerza Regida talks about living a working-class life and wanting to be rich and free, only to be held down by a boss who doesn’t appreciate then.

FLETCHER  is back after an intense bout of soul searching, and she's got a new album to show for it.

The 30-year-old singer dropped her sophomore studio album, In Search of the Antidote, on Friday, and told ET's Denny Directo that major shifts in her love life, health journey, and more over the past few years have inspired her best music yet.

"When, in the past, the antidote has been fans and stages and bottles of tequila and all these things, it had now become something totally different," she said of making the record. "It was like, deep, really getting in touch with myself and my feelings and healing my heart and body."

"That's what the search for the antidote has been, and it has led me to my greatest music yet," she added. "It's been a journey making this record, so, to get to share it now is such a beautiful feeling."

In breaking down each song on In Search of the Antidote, FLETCHER shares some perspective on what she's learned since breaking out with her 2019 single, " Undrunk ."

"You start realizing, I put all my eggs in one basket, but there's so many baskets of my life," the singer reflected. "It's not just one thing. The peace is in finding this realization that you don't have to keep chasing something. There's flow in the chaos, there's beauty in the chaos. This present moment is perfect."

See what FLETCHER had to say about her new album -- track by track -- below:

"Maybe I Am"

"I released a song called 'Becky's So Hot,' which, you know, did a lot on the internet, and I remembered in that time I was reading so much about myself online and comments and opinions and what people were saying about me and I really wanted to write from the perspective of like, OK, what would it feel like if I did believe what everybody said about me was true? What if all those things were true? Like, what if I felt those things in my body? What would it feel like? And this song came out of it that's like, maybe I am -- maybe I am all those things and sort of just this commentary on like, what if we believed everything that the world had to say about us? It's just about being able to take everything with a grain of salt and be able to receive feedback -- while also having a strong center of gravity and knowing yourself and who you really are."

"Doing Better"

"This album for me has really been a weaving of like, who Cari is as the human, and who FLETCHER is, and the integration of the two?... I think it's funny -- my barometer for a good FLETCHER song has always been if I play it for my mom and she gasps. If she clutches her pearls... All of the songs that have gone out into the world or viral or whatever, have been the ones that she's like 'Cari Fletcher! I did not raise you like this!' And I'm like, 'Bitch, you did, Mom!'"

"Ego Talking"

"I went to the studio and I was just sitting in like this big feeling of like jealous -- I was experiencing jealousy. And I think a big thing throughout this record for me was just being able to give the microphone to all the different parts of me, whether that be like, anger or rage or lust or joy or excitement or happiness. And when I went to the studio that day, I just was like, whoa, my ego needs the mic, you know? This is not something that the happiest, healthiest, highest version of myself wouldn't say."

"The healed part of me knows that I want love for like everybody in my life, everybody that I've been with like, I want everybody's utmost happiness. But when you go through those human emotions of like, oh, I'm feeling jealous right now. I'm feeling insecure about you potentially moving on to somebody else... I was like, oh, my ego needs the mic today. So that song was my ego talking."

"Lead Me On"

"I just felt sonically like 'Lead Me On' was such an amazing foundation for what the record sounds like. There's a lot of pop rock influence and sort of '90s singer-songwriter [influence], and I really just wanted to share sort of like the sonic palette. I think for me, this album, all the songs were kind of written on multiple levels and so at one listen you can hear 'Lead Me On' and think that it's about taking bread crumbs from somebody who's like, leading you on in a relationship."

"It could also be about a song that's a future, better version of myself -- following like my intuition and all the ways that she leads me on -- just that kind of inner knowing.. It's like that's the complete freeest version of myself, and how she's left littlee seeds of intuition throughout my life to kind of follow that path."

"Two Things Can Be True"

"It's about this classic like, pining over a straight girl, you know? We've all been there... romanticizing a friendship, and having this vision in your head of what something is or could be."

"My thing is I like, I'd go to a coffee shop and there'd be a sexy barista and I'm like, I see the vision. I see the light, I see the wedding, I see the life... It's delusion, is what it is, babes. Purely delusion."

"Eras of Us"

"I mean, this started this new era, right? And I was inspired by running to a certain someone at [Taylor Swift's] Eras tour... I was lucky enough to go see Taylor at the Eras Tour, and I bumped into an ex there and [we] had no idea each other was going to be there. Once I started feeling all these feelings and realizing that we were both at this concert like scream-singing the lyrics to an artist that has narrated so much of my journey, of my falling in love, of my breakups and both of us [were] there in agonizing pain, yelling these songs at this artist that is just so incredible, it kind of hit me in such a way."

"I went to the studio the next day and I was like this has to be a song. You don't run into your ex-girlfriend at a Taylor Swift concert and not turn it into a damn lyric... It came from a reflection and a positive light and also just a way for me to close a chapter. It felt like this sort of like full-circle moment of like, OK, I just want to sing my final piece here."

"Attached To You"

"It's for my avoidant attachment girlies. It's for people who are healing from their attachment.. It's about like, a deep sort of intrinsic fear of getting hurt and lost which, ultimately, is not something that we can escape as human beings because to be able to experience these like, high highs and these big loves and these intense joys and emotions, there also has to be the flip side of it, to experience loss."

"That one's just about being terrified. I'd rather walk on glass than give someone the opportunity to hurt me. I'd run like hell and sabotage a good thing because I'm so afraid it could be perfect."

"Crush"

"As I've been on this sort of healing journey and healing my relationships to love and relationships and unlearning toxic behaviors and patterns and that like, intense passion of love, I have sometimes found myself missing that intensity. So, the song 'Crush' is sort of about romanticizing like, remembering all the ways that intense passion used to feel."

"It's about this fine line where pain meets pleasure and how we would romanticize that, and have this idea of what love is supposed to be like and supposed to feel like. I think finding healthy love -- whether that be with yourself or with another -- it looks different than the movies, you know? We've been fed this narrative that everything has to be this crazy, fiery burning -- and that can totally be there. But, you know, also being mindful of like, is this unhinged and hurtful to myself?"

"Pretending"

"This is a very real, really personal record and this is a really personal song too. It's just that song for me -- I wrote from a place of I think just feeling this wondering [about] that one person that you have in the back of your mind where you're like, is it gonna be us? Are we going to be the ones that end up together? And are we just kind of playing, you know, pretending in life until that moment? And so just sitting with the realization, sitting with all of that and what that brings up and those feelings -- that's what that song is about."

"Joyride"

"I wanted something that just felt like a vintage car driving down the PCH in California, with the convertible down, wind in the hair and that feeling of just like, crushing new love... It's funny, like, the details in that are just so specific about somebody eating like, peaches and peanut butter. And then thinking about how I'm like, 'Oh, why do these things taste so good together?' Like, that was a thought that I really had... [Now it] instantly drops me back to a moment. We're giving an immersive experience, babe."

"I went through a really intense journey last year. I got quite sick and was diagnosed with Lyme disease and I was really forced to kind of like, pull everything back, and I disappeared from social media and I kind of went into this little cocoon of mine for some deep healing. So much got so quiet for me. But other things got really loud, like all the ways that I felt like, unworthy, or still was just dealing with things that I hadn't dealt with from childhood or like, unresolved feelings and emotions and realizing how much of that affects your health, and affects your sense of self and the way you view yourself."

"And so when, in the past, the antidote has been fans and stages and bottles of tequila and all these things, it had now become something totally different. It was like, deep, really getting in touch with myself and my feelings and healing my heart and body. And so that's what the search for the antidote has been, and it has led me to my greatest music yet, that I am just so excited to share."

"It's overwhelming in some ways and it's so beautiful in other ways, because to know that music has the ability to touch so many people and to unite so many people, not just mine, but just music as a whole you know of how many artists have like saved me and taught me things about myself...that's success to me," FLETCHER reflected on making her new album. "I think that's the job of the artist, just to go deep dive and pull out all the crazy shit and just like put it into a song."

In Search of the Antidote is out now.

Kamala Harris unknowingly claps to song in Spanish protesting her during Puerto Rico visit

V eep Kamala Harris was cluelessly clapping along and all smiles as a man began singing in Spanish outside a community center in Puerto Rico last week — until she was told what he was actually saying.

The vice president, 59, had ventured into a courtyard after her visit to the Goyoco community center in San Juan when the protester broke into song in Spanish.

Trying to be friendly, the unwitting Harris nodded and clapped along — but then an aide appeared to inform her about what the lyrics meant, and suddenly she stopped.

“We want to know, Kamala, what did you come here for? We want to know,” the man sang, according to multiple translations. “The vice president is here making history. We want to know what she thinks of the colony.

“Long live Free Palestine and Haiti, too.”

Officially joining the vice president at the time were Mariana Reyes, executive director at La Goyco, and Frankie Miranda, Hispanic Federation president.

Harris had trekked to Puerto Rico to tout ongoing federal aid to the territory in the wake of Hurricane Maria.

“So far, our administration has invested over $140 billion in Puerto Rico,” Harris proclaimed.

Hurricane Maria pummeled Puerto Rico in 2017 and killed just under an estimated 3,000 people.

Harris’ visit came during a renewed Democratic campaign blitz targeting Latino voters, given the upcoming November US elections, although technically, Puerto Ricans don’t enjoy Electoral College votes for the presidency.

During her visit, Harris’s motorcade was greeted by protesters, including one with a sign that stated, “Kamala Harris war criminal,” in a demonstration against the Biden administration’s support of Israel.

The war has been a constant theme for President Biden and Harris throughout their trips across the US since the Mideast conflict erupted with the Hamas terror attack against Israel on Oct. 7.

Harris has ramped up her efforts on the campaign trail, visiting colleges across the country and championing reproductive freedom over recent months.

“We are going to win,” Harris declared later in the day at a campaign reception.

Joey Graziadei's Fiancée Reveals the 'Great' Advice Dotun Olubeko Gave Her Regarding Bachelor Engagement (Exclusive)

Opening up about how "close" he and Dotun have gotten, Joey also shares how he and Charity have "been there for both of us"

lyrics to the journey by her

Upon accepting Joey Graziadei 's final rose, Kelsey Anderson is sharing a piece of advice from someone whose been there and done that.

On Monday's finale episode of The Bachelor , Joey chose Kelsey and went down on one knee to propose to project manager in Tulum, Mexico. Now that she's answered Joey's million dollar question with an enthusiastic yes, Kelsey exclusively tells PEOPLE of the advice she received from Charity Lawson 's fiancé Dotun Olubeko regarding their engagement.

"Dotun gave me great advice," she reveals. "'Just go through it with no refunds.' So I'm like, 'You don't have any refunds here. This is a non exchangeable.' So regardless of what obstacles come our way, I know that we're going to be able to get through it."

Bachelor nation may recall prior to nabbing the coveted leading role for season 28, Joey was a contestant on Charity's season of  The Bachelorette . In fact, he was the runner-up to Dotun, who was  chosen by the leading lady  after accepting his proposal during the final episode.

Disney/John Fleenor

Opening up about how "close" he and Dotun have gotten, Joey shares how he and Charity have "been there for both of us." He adds that he's sought advice and "tried to lean on the people that have been doing this and successful through it."

"There's two sides. There's the idea of just understanding what all of this is like, and it's also talking to the couples that have been able to make it through it," he explains. "So we've been trying to do a little bit of both, and I think it's been really helpful for us to just understand that we're not alone."

John Fleenor/Disney

"This is a very unique experience, but other people have gone through it," he adds. "They have been successful going through it, and we're going to try our best to lean on them for help because they'll get it."

In a conversation with PEOPLE in January, Charity and Dotun said they wished Joey "nothing but the best."

“We saw how much of a lover boy Joey is and how much he wants his person. I do believe that he is going to have no problem finding that," Charity said. "He is an incredible person. We're both rooting for him and rooting for his success.”

Dotun called Joey is an “an awesome guy," adding, “He's very intentional and I think that's going to lend very well to the show. We're both excited to watch that journey.”

The Bachelor Season 28 has come down to Daisy Kent and Kelsey Anderson . Joey Graziadei will decide between his two lovely final ladies in the highly-anticipated Season 28 finale, airing March 25 on ABC.

Daisy became a fan-favorite contestant from the jump. The 25-year-old has endeared herself with Bachelor Nation fans after being so open about her struggle with profound hearing loss.

Will she ultimately win Joey’s heart? That remains to be seen. Ahead of the “unprecedented” finale event, get up to speed on all things Daisy.

What Does Daisy Kent Do for a Living?

Daisy is an account executive from Becker, Minnesota. She grew up on a Christmas tree farm. Daisy started her own non-profit organization called Hear Your Heart . The non-profit “raises money to fund research for hearing loss and offer financial assistance to those who are equipped with hearing devices.”

Daisy became a published author in 2023. She wrote the children’s book Daisy Doo: All The Sounds She Knew . The Minnesota native is also a social media influencer, with over 500,000 followers on Instagram and 296,000 on TikTok .

Daisy’s Health Issues

Daisy suffers from hearing loss and wears a cochlear implant. “I started losing my hearing when I was 17 years old,” Daisy said on The Bachelor . “It was all because I had Lyme disease. I’ve learned how to turn something really difficult into something really positive.”

During a one-on-one date with Joey, Daisy opened up about her past health struggles. “When I was 11, I started to have these stroke-like seizures,” Daisy revealed. She noted that she experienced chronic pain and had difficulty walking at times.

Daisy Kent on 'The Bachelor'

She was diagnosed with Meniere’s disease, a disorder of the inner ear, when she was 17 years old. Daisy’s hearing continued to deteriorate, and her doctor told her she was “probably going to go deaf.” At 21, Daisy learned she had Lyme disease. She eventually got a cochlear implant on her left side.

When she was a freshman in college, Daisy was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. Doctors initially thought she just had a migraine, but when she returned home and “could not move any part” of her body, she was taken to a different hospital and diagnosed.

“I literally thought I was going to die,” Daisy said in her TikTok video . Her white blood cell count was so high that doctors told Daisy’s parents that there was a “possibility” she wouldn’t survive. Daisy lost 17 pounds in five days. After being discharged, she got a “giant infection” and had to spend another week in the hospital.

Is Daisy a Singer?

Yes, Daisy is quite the talented singer. Daisy has posted several covers of songs by Taylor Swift , Fleetwood Mac , Kacey Musgraves , and more on her YouTube channel .

Daisy also appeared in Abe$’s “Sundown” music video in 2021. Fans discovered the music video (which includes some very suggestive lyrics) as The Bachelor Season 28 aired, and the music video has since gone viral on TikTok .

The Bachelor Season 21 star Nick Viall recently speculated that Daisy’s appearance in Abe$’s rap video could be a Bachelorette dealbreaker if Joey doesn’t choose her . “And the rap video? Honest to God, that video might have ruined her chances. I’m not kidding,” Nick said on the March 21 episode of The Viall Files podcast.

Nick, who believes that Maria will be the next Bachelorette, added, “When a video comes out of Daisy singing, she’s in a song where he’s like ‘Suck on my nuts and lick on my balls,’ they might have been like, ‘I don’t know, how about Maria?’ It might have always been Maria, she’s clearly super popular, but it’s possible.”

Tim McGraw's Columbus concert a hit for fans of country music star's classics

lyrics to the journey by her

While the lyrics of the title track from Tim McGraw's most recent album — and namesake of his current tour — are concerned with being a person worth remembering, Columbus fans of the country music mainstay have already decided he is.

McGraw's Standing Room Only tour took over Nationwide Arena Saturday night with a sea of cowboy hats and checkered shirts, and a fair amount of sparkles.

For more than 90 minutes, McGraw took those in attendance on a journey through his more than three-decades-long career in Nashville, Tennessee, starting with "Truck Yeah," and ending his three-song encore with "Live Like You Were Dying."

In between, McGraw played many of the classics fans love, including "Just to See You Smile," "Red Ragtop," "Something Like That" and "Where the Green Grass Grows."

Current single "One Bad Habit," and "Standing Room Only" were the only songs from the 2023 album that made the cut for Saturday's show. McGraw also performed a cover of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer," to the great enjoyment of the crowd.

During the evening, McGraw also mixed in some of his well-known collaborations, including "Over and Over" that he released with rapper Nelly in 2004 and "Highway Don't Care."

The latter performance on Saturday night included a video montage of collaborator Taylor Swift and McGraw enthusiastically having the crowd sing Swift's portion of the 2013 hit. Swift , who is currently on hiatus from her own tour that you may have heard about, was an opening act for McGraw at the beginning of her career.

Opening for McGraw on this tour were Nashville quartet, The Woods, whose vintage country sound and pleasant harmonies got the crowd clapping along.

Carly Pearce, who with each song she releases continues to cement herself as one of Nashville's best "that boy done me wrong" songstresses, then performed a set that featured fan favorites "Every Little Thing," "Next Girl" and "What He Didn't Do."

Pearce also played "Truck on Fire," a song from her upcoming album "Hummingbird" that will be released in June. The song, about a liar whose truck replaces his pants in being ablaze, is the kind of melody that has the potential to make waves as a single on the country charts if the reactions in Nationwide Arena are any indicator.

But the star of the night was the man at the top of the ticket. McGraw's energy and enthusiasm was contagious, with fist pumps and smiles during many of the more upbeat tracks.

While McGraw acknowledged early on in his set that he doesn't talk much during his performances — a skill he said he has honed while living with wife (and country music legend in her own right) Faith Hill and the couple's three daughters — McGraw gave high fives and fist bumps out throughout the evening to the front few rows of spectators he could reach.

McGraw also took time to acknowledge Massillon native Shawn Fichter , who plays drums on tour. Fichter's mom and several other family members were in attendance at Saturday night's concert and got a special shoutout from the stage.

Saturday night's set could have been much longer, particularly with the career longevity McGraw has experienced. With a career like that, fan favorites will no doubt be left on the cutting room floor of any tour. The most glaring omissions from the show were "Down on the Farm," "My Next Thirty Years" and "Don't Take the Girl."

However, McGraw played most of the tunes he knew fans wanted to hear and seemed amazed, even after more than 30 years, at the zeal with which they were received and sung back to him by the nearly sellout crowd.

The feeling McGraw exuded from the stage was astonishment that he continues to be able to do something he clearly loves doing. But at the root of it all, as he led the crowd in singing a cappella during his encore, is staying "Humble and Kind."
