ATP and WTA Rankings
Below are links to the latest ATP and WTA rankings for singles and doubles.
There are two different ranking tables for each. The first are the official world rankings updated weekly on Mondays when points from the previous 52 weeks have dropped. These rankings are used for seedings and determining which tournament a player can enter directly.
The second table is the live rankings; this showcases real-time rankings of a player’s position in the race to finish in the Top 8 for the season-ending ATP and WTA Finals. They are updated frequently each week, and players can jump around spots daily.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often are the rankings updated?
The official rankings are updated every Monday, except during the middle of Grand Slam tournaments and Miami + Indian Wells.
How do tennis rankings work?
Rankings work on a rolling 52-week period and take into account a player’s best results in 19 tournaments for the ATP and 16 for the WTA.
When 52 weeks have passed since the points were acquired, they are dropped, and new points are added. If you match your performance from 52 weeks ago, you have a net gain/loss of zero points. You’ll gain points if you better your performance, but if you perform worse, you’ll lose points.
A full explanation of how rankings work can be found here.
What is a protected ranking, and who can use them?
A player can gain protected ranking status when physically injured and does not compete in any tennis event for a minimum of six months. The petition is issued to the ATP (usually the CEO) and must be received within six months of his last tournament.
The protected ranking gives a player a spot in the rankings determined by the player’s average ATP Rankings position during the first three months of his injury.
The Entry Protection status gives players entry into the main draw or qualifying competition or for special exempt consideration.
Protected rankings cannot be used for seeding purposes or Lucky Loser consideration, nor can they be used for a top eight player to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals.
How long does a protected ranking last?
A player can use a protected ranking for the first nine tournaments they compete in using the Entry Protection or for up to nine months, beginning with the first tennis event that the player competes in, whichever happens first. This excludes wild cards and entries as a Direct Acceptance, should the true ranking allow this.
Suppose a player is physically injured and does not compete in any tennis event for twelve months or longer. In that case, the entry protection shall be in effect for the first twelve singles tournaments and the first twelve doubles tournaments that the player competes in using the entry protection or for the period up to twelve months beginning with the first tennis event that the player competes in, whichever occurs first.
How are players separated when they have the same amount of ranking points?
When two or more players have the same total number of points, the player who has the following will be ranked higher:
- The most total points combined from the Grand Slams, ATP Masters 1000 mandatory tournaments, and Nitto ATP Finals main draws, and if still tied, then,
- The fewest events played, counting all missed Grand Slams, ATP Masters 1000 tournaments and Nitto ATP Finals they could have played – as if played, and if still tied, then,
- The highest number of points from one tournament, then the second highest, if needed, and so on.
What are the points distributions for each tournament?
ATP Ranking Point Distributions For 2024
Note there are some changes for 2024, with more points on offer in many tournaments; for example, a finalist at ATP 500 level now gets 330 points, compared to the previous 300.
WTA Ranking Point Distributions For 2024
*Nitto ATP Finals: 1500 points for the undefeated champion; players get 200 points per round-robin match win, 400 for a semi-final win, and 500 for the final win.
**The doubles team that qualifies gets 45 ranking points; the team that loses in the final round of qualifiers receives 25.

Ranking the ATP Finals lineup by ‘Under Pressure Rating’
- James Richardson
- November 4, 2023
The ATP Tour Finalists are all set with the eight-man field filled out at last, but which players have been the best with their backs to the walls?
A player’s ‘Under Pressure Rating’ is calculated by adding the percentage of break points converted and saved, the percentage of tiebreaks won and the rate of deciding sets won.
Here, we rank the Turin lineup by their ‘Under Pressure Rating’.
8 Andrey Rublev
Rublev ranks 19th according to the under-pressure metrics before his run to the last four in Paris.
He has done extensive work on his mental game and appears to be making progress in dealing with pressure in a healthier fashion.
While he hasn’t been brilliant under pressure throughout 2023, Rublev has cut out the worst of his meltdowns.
7 Stefanos Tsitsipas
Stefanos Tsitsipas is another player with a reputation for struggling in tough situations, and relative to the rest of the Turin field, that might be true.
Tsitsipas, at his best, is nearly unstoppable, but when he is thrown off his stride, he is seen as highly vulnerable.
He has suffered late tournament losses in the last two weeks heading into the Finals, and his big match temperament will be tested.
6 Alexander Zverev
Alexander Zverev has struggled to convert the break points he has generated this season which drag his ‘Under Pressure Rating’ down.
In fact, he has won a higher percentage of deciding sets won than any other player in the finals.
Zverev needs to take his chances if he is to win the Tour Finals for the second time in his career.
5 Daniil Medvedev
Daniil Medvedev is very good at converting his break point opportunities, but he doesn’t always hold his nerve on serve and is 50/50 in tiebreaks.
Medvedev has also put himself in a position to win titles time and again this season, winning five championship matches and losing four.
He can also be a volatile character and often reacts poorly to crowds turning against him.
4 Holger Rune
Holger Rune only just held on to reach the ATP Tour Finals, but he has shown that he can cope under pressure.
Rune has been handy in tiebreaks this term and is a dangerous player when he picks out the key moments and lifts his game.
He still has some maturing to do, but the prospect is that he will continue to get better.
3 Jannik Sinner
Another bright young star who keeps coming through in the clutch this season is Jannik Sinner.
No player at the ATP Finals has saved a higher percentage of break points than Sinner.
Like Rune, Sinner is a player who should get better and become a genuine Grand Slam contender.
2 Carlos Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz showed that he can do amazing things under pressure this season, not least at Wimbledon.
Alcaraz has been handy in all four categories of the ‘Under Pressure Ratings’, and success has followed.
He is relentless, and few players are able to keep up with Alcaraz.
1 Novak Djokovic
It is no surprise that the king of the ‘Under Pressure Ratings’ is Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic has been incredible in tiebreaks this season and has always been tough to put away.
He comes through on his serve in pressure moments, too and seems to thrive on having his back to the wall.
