Which 'Love Trip: Paris' Couples Are Still Together?

Kayla Caldwell

Love Trip Paris , from Freeform, is a show about four American women who go to Paris to find love. Lacy Hartselle, Caroline Renner, Josielyn Aguilera, and Rose Zilla-Ba - and their suitors -all live in the same ritzy apartment building, Le Tronchet. They use an app called Trip Key to message their suitors, as well as plan and accept dates.

Throughout the show there is drama with daters not being there for the right reasons - Mirko, Simon - or dealing with extreme jealousy in this unique dating situation. There is a lot of debate about the seriousness of a kiss, which causes quite the culture clash. In the end, all four women have a decision to make, about whether they want to continue with their current suitor, and if they want to move to Paris, or go back to the United States.

Which Love Trip Paris couples are still together as of June 2023? Read on below to learn more about who each woman chose, and what they’re up to now.

Lacy Hartselle

Lacy Hartselle

Suitors: Bastien, Valentin, Joséphine, Amaury

Who they chose: Bastien

Lacy was drawn to Bastien from the very first episode. By the last episode, she was torn between her quickly-developing feelings for Amaury, and the deep connection she felt for Bastien. After romantic dates with both of them, Lacy decided she had a deeper soul connection with Bastien.

Where are they now? Married!

On June 2, 2023, Lacy and Bastien tied the knot. They both shared photos to Instagram, with Lacy gushing, “From the Eiffel Tower on my childhood bedroom wall to being the real deal backdrop for my wedding to the best human in the world. June 2nd was the best day of my life - the loving, joyful vibrations were the highest I’ve ever experienced, definitely sensing all of the beautiful souls present, those with us from afar and in spirit. Soaring in gratitude right now. We are so appreciative of our friends and family who shower us in love and positivity - you all are the greatest gift! Thank you for all the love and support for our partnership. This one transcends all limits and I believe anything is possible with my *husband* @bastienbuffattiger - the purest soul - by my side.”

According to Instagram, it seems she has relocated to Paris - with her dog Chicken - to live with her new hubby, Bastien.

Caroline Renner

Caroline Renner

Suitors: Gessica, Lisa, Romane, Margot, Camille,

Who they chose: Lisa

Where are they now? Dating, broken up, dating?

Though Caroline and Lisa's relationship seemed quite intense and tumultuous, the show ended with both of them making grand gestures. First, Lisa accompanied Caroline to a tattoo parlor, where she showed how serious she was by getting her beloved's name tattooed on her knuckles. It seemed the gesture had freaked Lisa out. However, when the pair met in the final episode, she presented Caroline with a ring, and asked her to be her girlfriend.

On April 24, 2022, Lisa shared a post to Instagram that seemed to be introducing a new girlfriend (though could be just a close friend). The pair looked cozy, and the caption read, “My only one. Thank you life for giving me this soul as my best friend.”

As of March 2023, the pair were together, though they had reportedly broken up for six months. On March 7, Caroline shared a loved-up series of photos to Instagram with the caption, “loving you is a privilege given to me by the universe. je t’aime à la folie. @lisaaboulker — la mienne. lol âme sœur toujours (“I love you madly. @lisaaboulker - mine. soul mate always .”).”

By May 7 of the same year, though she hadn’t publicly addressed any split, Caroline shared a cryptic post, with the caption, “the art of starting over . - Demi Lovato.” On June 2, she got vulnerable on Instagram , seemingly hinting at a breakup, writing, “Today’s one of those days that are really, really hard. Heart ache & pain, and a deep sense of feeling alone, baby. But I choose to keep going because I remind myself of baby Caro, and how she deserves so much better. She deserves it & so does big, ever evolving Caro.”

Josielyn Aguilera

Josielyn Aguilera

Suitors: Gessica, Léo, Aickel, Patrick, Joséphine

Who they chose: Patrick, a late addition

Where are they now? Unclear

After the heartbreak from Mirko's poor treatment, and Joséphine leaving, Josielyn decided to take another chance on love with Patrick, who didn't enter the series until the penultimate episode. Though they hadn't known each other long, it was obvious the pair had such strong chemistry right off the bat.

It is unclear whether they are still together, or talking, but it looks like Josielyn returned to Los Angeles for work. She appeared in a February 2023 episode of Quantum Leap , as Gia Mendéz. She has also been acting on the show, Not So Straight in Silver Lake .

When asked on Instagram who was the “best kisser,” Josielyn chose Joséphine, and said she “will forever be the one who got away,” as reported by Autostraddle .

Rose Zilla-Ba

Rose Zilla-Ba

Suitors: Mirko, Séb, Valentin, Simon, Franck

Who they chose: Herself!

After dealing with a lot of toxic masculinity from Mirko and Séb, Rose set her sights on Simon, who entered the show in episode three. Things really seemed to be going well, aside from the fact that Simon kept talking about how much he loved America, until an anonymous text on Trip Key said that someone was only there for a green card.

In the final episode, Rose brought out the engagement ring that she had hoped to give to the man she had found love with in Paris. However, she put it on herself, and acknowledged that she deserves more than someone who just wants a way into the U.S. “I do want to stay in Paris, but I think I want to do that alone,” she told him.

Where are they now?

Rose keeps a pretty low profile on social media. Per The Cinemaholic , after Love Trip: Paris , she is pursuing her degree in architecture from the Boston Architectural College.

30 Most Romantic Things to do in Paris for Couples

So, here’s for you the ultimate list of the best things to do in Paris with your loved one:

#1 Have Picnic at Jardin du Luxembourg

Paris boasts plenty of pretty parks , and the Jardin du Luxembourg is one of the city’s very best. The tree-lined lanes, ponds, and lawns are incredibly well-maintained and make for the perfect setting for a romantic stroll with your loved one. But before making your way to the Jardin du Luxembourg, pass by one of Paris’ many grocery stores. It’s the perfect occasion to buy some delicious French foods and wine to bring to this wonderful garden.

After your relaxing walk in the park, make yourself comfortable to feast on your groceries. You’re only allowed to spread out your picnic blanket on the grass in a small part of the park.

Romantic things to do in Paris: Have a picnic in one of the many Parks and Gardens

However, the loveliest way to enjoy your picnic in the Jardin du Luxembourg is by taking two of the typical green metal chairs to a quiet corner of the park. Ideally, you still have a view of the stunning Palais du Luxembourg and the big pond in front of it. While devouring your baguette with cheese and a bottle of wine, you can people-watch and chat with your significant other. It’s clearly one of the most romantic places in Paris that you should not miss.

To top it off: bring some quintessential pastries from one of Paris’ many pâtisseries. The perfect dessert for a Parisian picnic!

Thanks for the suggestion, Birthe from Cities & Seasides

#2 See The Sparkling Eiffel Tower Light Show

As dusk sets in, Paris becomes even more romantic than under the sun. When the city’s crown jewel sparkles adorning its sky, the magic spell at the City of Light begins.

The Eiffel Tower shines over Paris  every day from sunset to 1 am for 5 minutes every hour. The final show at 1 am is the most spectacular one to witness if you can catch it; the golden sparkle turns to a white twinkle that lasts for 10 minutes before the light gets turned off.

Paris for Couples: Couple sits in front of the Eiffel Tower

The Light Show is free, and you can catch it from many of the fantastic Eiffel Tower Viewpoints throughout Paris. Head over to rooftop restaurants, grab a seat along the Seine River, or watch it from the Trocadero across the river, to name a few.

However, the best place to witness the iconic light show up close and personal is from the Champs de Mars. The Champs de Mars is a grand public park in the 7th arrondissement. The 780-meter-long lawn runs beneath the Eiffel Tower.

Grab a spot on the grass, and voilà, you have secured the most romantic spot in the city for the light show. Don’t forget to bring a bottle of wine and snacks to enjoy a French Apéro . Then, you can clink your wine glasses and wait for the magical moment when the iconic tower glitters in front of your eyes!

#3 Have Dinner in a cozy Wine Bar

Visiting a cozy wine bar is a wonderfully romantic and intimate way to spend an evening in Paris. There, you can enjoy a relaxed evening with your date without the hustle and bustle of the city, sipping wine and sampling some local cuisine. Paris has many wine bars, but my favorite is Augustin Marchand d’Vins , a charming spot in the 6th arrondissement . The place is so cozy and has only about 6 tables in the space, so you’ll definitely want to make a reservation if you’d like to experience this restaurant while you’re visiting Paris.

love trip paris couples

The menu at Augustin Marchand d’Vins is seasonal and local, featuring many fruits and vegetables as well as local meats and cheeses. To pair with your meal, Augustin, the owner, will help you to select the perfect bottle of wine from the dozens proudly displayed throughout the shop. If you love the wine you select, you’re welcome to buy a bottle to take home at a “takeaway” price. Dinner with wine at Augustin Marchand d’Vins runs about 80 euros per person.

#4 Paris for Couples: Explore Paris in Vintage Car

➜ Click here for the schedules and prices of this romantic sightseeing tour!

One of the most romantic things to do in Paris is to explore the city in a vintage car. There are many companies that offer this service, and it’s a great way to see all the sights of Paris while enjoying some quality time together.

In an authentic CV2, you will be able to explore all of Paris’s most famous landmarks while sipping on some champagne. This is a truly unique and romantic experience that you and your partner will never forget.

#5 Take a Cooking Class together

➜ Reserve your spot in the kitchen here

Enjoy a date night together not only sipping wine but also learning to make classic French dishes. The most locally recommended cooking school in the city is hosted by La Cuisine Paris, as they offer many options for market tours, and classes are taught in English. The location of the school itself is also quite romantic, tucked away in the rue des Barres and just minutes away from iconic Parisian landmarks.

A cooking class is one of the nicest things to do in Paris as a couple

After arriving at La Cuisine Paris, your chef first takes you on a stroll through a historic neighbourhood of your choice. For example, the Marais or Ile Saint-Louis, where you’ll visit a boulangerie , a fromagerie , and a little verger for the ingredients. Then, you’ll return to the cooking school to put on your aprons and get to work on your traditional four-course meal.

After learning cooking, you’ll get to enjoy your creation together with a glass of wine overlooking the Seine. Best of all – nobody has to do the dishes at the end of the night!

#6 Explore Parc André Citroën and Paris’s Hot Air Balloon

Couples flock to the Eiffel Tower for romantic city views, but for fewer crowds, consider taking a ride on the world’s largest hot-air balloon, Ballon de Paris Generali. The balloon is located in Parc André Citroën, about a 30-minute walk south along the Seine River from the Eiffel Tower.

Cuddle up with your partner while taking in stunning views of Paris from 300 meters (980 feet) above the ground. The balloon’s “basket” is safely enclosed by metal guardrails and the balloon itself is tethered to the ground, making for a less intimidating way to ride. Adult tickets cost just 15 Euros each.

love trip paris couples

After your balloon ride, enjoy strolling through the romantic Parc André Citroën, one of Paris’s most unusual public parks. Here you’ll find greenhouses, a reflecting pool, dancing fountains, and six serial gardens—each representing a specific metal, planet, day of the week, state of the water, and physical sense. (For example, the blue garden represents copper, Venus, Friday, rain, and the sense of smell.)

#7 Walking Around The Louvre In The Evening

“Lovers in Paris” is more than just a cliché caption that couples put on photos of their time in Paris. It is the perfect statement that truly captures the city’s romantic atmosphere, and it goes beyond the French capital’s most popular landmark.

Walking around the Louvre in the evening is one of those romantic things to do in Paris that many don’t often see or hear about as people talk about their Paris trips. Yet for couples or hopeful romantics, it’s the most magical experience ever. Situated across from Palais Royale, which houses a variety of fine dining restaurants, the Louvre provides the perfect post-dinner stroll.

A quick walk from Palais Royale leads to the Louvre’s much-photographed entrance, where street musicians welcome the evening crowd with enchanting music. It’s like being ushered into a magical place as the iconic glass pyramid comes into view.

one of the best art galleries in paris: The Louvre

The Louvre takes on a seductive ambiance at sundown. With the Louvre pyramid lit up, and the setting sun reflected on it, the courtyard transforms into a stunning and romantic place.

There’s something special about roaming around the area at night when the crowds lessen, and you have enough space to take in the regal splendor of the Louvre Museum. After that, it’s just a short walk to the Pont des Arts and Il de la Cite, which are great places to start walking down the Seine. It’s a magical experience, especially at night.

Thanks for the suggestion, Christine from Journey to France

#8 Cruise along the Seine River

Another great way to see Paris together is from the water. You can opt in for a daytime cruise or for a night cruise to enjoy the magnificent illuminated Paris. Either way, all cruises are very romantic, especially if you take the Champagne option! Just lean back, and sip champagne while taking in all the sights of Paris with your loved one.

Book your Seine Cruise easily here to save time when in Paris

  • 1h illuminations River Cruise
  • Sunset Cruise with Apéritif and Music
  • Evening Dinner Cruise with 3-course meal

Paris is famous for the Bateaux Mouches

#9 Take a Picture together on the Eiffel Tower Summit

Every day thousands of people visit the Eiffel Tower on the Banks of the Seine and there are a host of couples’ tours of the Tower. Wedding proposals happen everyday day up on the Tower’s platforms and in the Brasserie and Champagne Bar. And not without reason: from the top of the Tower of this most important  French landmark , you can see the whole City of Love spread out before you.

Visiting the Eiffel Tower is one of the most romantic things to do in Paris for couples

But if that’s not on your agenda just now, the next best thing is a selfie on the Eiffel Tower! There are two floors and a Summit, and the views over Paris are best from the Second Level.

From the second level Observation Deck the most popular selfie spot is with the long rectangular gardens of the Champ des Mars at your back. From this level, you can take romantic selfies with backgrounds of the Louvre, the Seine River, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Champs Élysée, and many other famous sights.

Thanks for the idea, Monique at Trip Anthropologist

Spend date night in Paris in a cocktail bar

#10 Have a drink in the best Cocktail Bars in Paris

Paris is home to some of the best cocktail bars in the world. If you and your partner are looking for a romantic evening out, then a cocktail bar is a good place to go. There are many bars to choose from, so you can find one that suits your style.

But if you are in for a special experience or want to celebrate a special occasion, I recommend taking a look at this list of the best cocktail bars in Paris . Some of them are even on the list of the world’s best bars!

#11 See a Cabaret Show at Moulin Rouge

➜ Reserve your table for the Moulin Rouge here, they sell out quickly!

No trip to Paris would be complete without seeing a cabaret show , and the Moulin Rouge is definitely the most famous one. This is a truly romantic experience, and it’s perfect for couples who want to enjoy a night out on the town. You will see some of the most amazing dancers in the world, and you can even combine the entertainment with a bottle of Champagne and a delicious gourmet menu!

a must couple thing to do in Paris: visit a cabaret

#12 Take a picture at the “I love you” Wall in Montmartre

The I Love You Wall is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Paris when it comes to romantic vacations. It is located in Montmartre at the Abbesses Metro station, and it is a wall covered in tiles with the words “I love you” written in different languages. This is the perfect place to take a photo together with your partner and makes a nice souvenir.

#13 Taste bubbly Champagne on a day trip to the Champagne Region

➜ Click to know more about this fantastic day trip from Paris to Champagne Region

One of the best things to do in Paris as a couple is to take a day trip from the city to the Champagne region. This is a beautiful area that is known for its wonderful wines, easy to visit from Paris. Take a tour of a champagne vineyard, and even taste some delicious bubbly. This is definitely a romantic experience that you and your partner will cherish.

You can either hop on a train to Reims and organize your Champagne house tour on your own, or you take a tour from Paris , which will include roundtrip transportation and oftentimes a delicious lunch.

Paris to Champagne day trip

#14 Enjoy a Gourmet Dinner while Cruising the Seine

➜ Check here if the most popular cruise has still tables available

When looking for things to do in Paris for couples, you definitely should consider one of the popular Dinner Cruises on the Seine . You get to enjoy a gourmet dinner while cruising down the Seine. There are many cruise companies that offer this experience, and it’s a great way to enjoy a luxurious meal while taking in many of the most beautiful sights of Paris.

This is certainly an experience that you and your partner will never forget. If you are on a budget, many bateaux-mouches offer a lunch cruise that is more affordable, though not as luxurious.

#15 Enjoy the View over Paris from an Eiffel Tower Viewpoint

With 324 m, the Eiffel Tower is the tallest building in Paris. So, don’t be surprised when you find the iron lady peaking at you from time to when strolling through Paris. The Eiffel Tower will suddenly pop up between houses, and surprise you with its presence.

But you don’t need to just wait until that happens. You can also head to one or more of the fantastic Eiffel Tower viewpoints in Paris to see the most beautiful of all towers from its best side.

However, there are a few places that definitely stand out when looking for an incredible view of this monument. For example, the view from the Tour Montparnasse, but also from Montmartre or if you are looking for a less known viewpoint, you can also head to Square d’Ajaccio.

a View on the Eiffel Tower is very romantic

#16 Paris for Couples: Have a Photo Shoot with a professional Photographer

➜ Check the rates of a private photographer in Paris here

If you want to keep a great souvenir from your couple’s trip to Paris, hire a private photographer to do a photoshoot of you two around the city. This is a great way to capture all the wonderful memories from your trip, and it’s also a lot of fun.

No need to rely on mediocre phone selfies if you can have professional photos of your love in front of the Eiffel Tower! Get further information on available photographs and schedules here.

#17 Have Lunch on the Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower has two Restaurants, the Brasserie Madame and the Jules Verne. They both offer a unique experience, with the latter one being the more romantic – and the more expensive one – of the two.

You can dine while enjoying the panoramic views of Paris, which is definitely an unforgettable experience. Le Jules Verne is a Michelin-starred restaurant, so it’s a bit more expensive. But if you want to truly treat your partner, then this is the place to go. Otherwise, the Brasserie Madame is a great option as well. You can reserve your table here.

#18 Try the best Pastries in Paris

No trip to Paris for couples would be complete without trying some of the best pastries in the city. From the famous macarons to the delicious éclairs, there’s a plethora of options to choose from. Likely, you maybe don’t even know where to even start. I suggest you add Macarons from Pierre Hermé, Choux from Odette , and chocolate from Patrick Roger to your list.

For more delicious treats, don’t hesitate and check my article about the best pastry shops in Paris .

Choux pastry in Paris from Odette

#19 Stroll through Montmartre after dark

Montmartre is one of the neighborhoods in Paris that is certainly worth exploring if you are looking for romantic things to do in Paris for couples. It’s a great place to walk around, and it’s also one of the most romantic places in the city. There are many bars and restaurants to pick from, and it’s a great place to spend an evening with your partner.

The special charm of Montmartre at night is certainly that it is not deserted, but the big crowds from the day are gone, and you might find yourself even alone with your partner in one of the cute alleys. Plus, you have so wonderful views from this hilltop neighborhood, when the illuminated city stretches out to your feet, that you should not miss.

Maison Rose Restaurant - a romantic restaurant for couples in Paris

#20 Have a romantic dinner at the Maison Rose

When you are in Montmartre, you will inevitably pass by the Maison Rose. It’s a great place to have lunch or dinner. Does it look familiar to you? Then you probably have seen the Netflix Series Emily in Paris ! It’s one of the filming locations.

But while many hyped places are not keeping up with it, the Maison Rose certainly does. The food is good, and the location is outstanding. It’s located in Rue l’Abreuvoir, supposedly the prettiest street in Paris!

#21 Enjoy the view from the Pont des Arts

The Pont des Arts were formerly known as the Love lock bridge, the place where lovers attached a lock to the bridge and then threw the key into the river as a symbol of their love.

By now, the locks have been removed, and you really should not revive this tradition. Firstly because the additional weight was damaging the bridge, and secondly because the keys heavily disturbed the ecosystem of the Seine river. But even without love locks, the Pont des Arts is still a beautiful location, and it’s a great place to enjoy the views of Paris.

It’s a pedestrian wood bridge from where you have a wonderful view of the Île-de-la-Cité and Notre Dame. The Pont des Arts is also a popular spot to gather during summer and enjoy the evenings.

Tip: If you are looking for cute things to do in Paris for couples and you still like the idea of a love lock, attach one, take a picture, and take the lock with you home. It makes a nice souvenir from your romantic trip to Paris.

The Seine in Paris is a good location for a romantic walk in Paris

#22 Take a walk by the Seine

One of the most romantic things to do in Paris is to take a stroll along the Seine. This is a great activity to do during the day or at night, and also no matter the season. In Summer, you can pack an apéro and do a picnic by the River with your lover or you stop in one of the many pop up bars and enjoy a drink and a casual dinner. But the Seine river banks are also in winter the perfect place for a romantic walk in Paris. Put on your coat and enjoy the beautiful sight.

#23 Have a romantic breakfast on Tour Montparnasse

If you are looking for stunning views of the Eiffel Tower and a delicious breakfast, then you should head up to the 53rd floor of the Tour Montparnasse. It’s there where you find the restaurant Ciel de Paris and even though it’s a rather fancy restaurant, the breakfast is very affordable. Especially when you consider that you are getting almost as amazing views as on the observation deck, but you pay less! It’s also a good tip if you are traveling to Paris on a budget.

The breakfast includes croissants and pain au chocolat, brioche, jams and honey, fresh juices, and a hot drink. You also can get a glass of Champagne for a little extra.

Romantic breakfast in Paris with view from tour Montparnasse

#24 Play a game of Pétanque in a park

Do you want to include a very French activity, while exploring the pretty Parisian Parks? Then you should definitely play a game of pétanque . This is a very popular game in France, and it’s a great way to spend some time with your partner. Just get yourself a game and head to the park. Popular spots are the Jardin du Luxembourg or the Tuileries, but you also can play it on a more hidden gem of Paris , like the Arène de Lutece.

#25 Cool activity in Paris for couples: a Scavenger Hunt in Montmartre

➜ Download this romantic Montmartre Escape Game here

If you want to do a nice couple’s activity and learn more about one of the nicest areas in Paris, then you should do a Montmartre scavenger hunt. This is a great way to explore the area, and it’s also not costly. Just download the app and have fun playing this escape game.

Dancers By the Seine in Sunshine - a nice activity for couples in Paris

#26 Dance by the Seine

Are you a fan of Latin dances like Tango or Samba? Then you should definitely go to the seine and dance. As soon as the weather allows it, dancers gather at the south banks of the Seine to show of their skills. This is a great activity to do with your partner, and it’s also a great way to meet some new people and enjoy live music. The dances are usually happening around the Parc Tino Rossi near the Jardin des Plantes.

#27 Have a romantic dinner with a view over the Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is unarguably the most famous landmark in Paris, and you have many ways to enjoy it. #28 Visit the Arc de Triomphe at Sunset

The Arc de Triomphe is located at the end of the Champs-Élysées, in the middle of the world’s craziest roundabout! It’s one of the most iconic landmarks in Paris, and if you’re up for fantastic views over Paris, the Arc de Triomphe is where you should be heading.

It might not look like it, but the Arc de Triomphe is more than just a monument to celebrate the battle success of Napoleon. This site holds many interesting stories and facts. For example, did you know that it originally was supposed to be an elephant? Or that a plane once flew through it? Read more Fun Facts about the Arc de Triomphe !

Anyway, it’s a really lovely spot to watch the sunset, especially when the golden hour hits the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées.

Just don’t try to cross the roundabout on foot to get there. It’s very dangerous! Instead, use the underground pedestrian passages to get there in one piece.

#29 Visit the Musée de la vie Romantique

This museum lies very close to Montmartre and is dedicated to the French writer Georges Sand, who is, in fact, a woman who used a pseudonym to be able to publish her works. In the exhibition, you can see many of her personal belonging, but also some sketches of the renowned painter Eugène Delacroix, who was her friend.

If you are keen on a little break, the Museum has an adorable garden café where you can sit down, relax, and take in the romantic atmosphere. Visiting the museums is all in all one of the most romantic things to do in Paris as a couple.

#30 Discover the hidden speakeasy Bars in Paris

➜ Know more about my favorite Speakeasy Bars in Paris

If you are up for a fun night up with your partner, go out and look for the hidden bars in Paris . These speakeasy bars are often located behind a regular-looking restaurant, door, or entrances and if you didn’t know they were there, you would probably never find them. But they are definitely worth the search as they create a unique and romantic atmosphere.

One of the coziest speakeasies is the Moonshiner , hidden behind a Pizzeria. Its dim atmosphere is great for a date night in Paris. Alternatively, you can go to the slightly more expensive Rehab bar, located in a cellar of a hotel restaurant. Its small seating areas give you a lot of intimacy and privacy, perfect for an evening out with your loved one.

The most famous ones are probably the Galerie Vivienne and the Passage des Panoramas, but there are many more to be discovered. They are the perfect place for a romantic stroll with your partner, especially on a rainy day.

Ah, Paris!  The City of Light, and the City of Love!  There are so many romantic things to do in Paris that it’s the perfect travel destination for couples!

I’ve visited the French capital over half a dozen times.  Mostly I’ve visited with my hubby (he even surprised me on our first visit — many years ago — by bringing along a lock to add to the Love Lock Bridge!)

Just being in Paris is a special experience.  The city’s magical combination of art, history (and of course, the food!) can’t be beat.

Having a picnic in the Luxembourg Gardens, holding hands as you walk along the Seine, and watching the twinkling lights on the Eiffel Tower at night are some of my most treasured memories of Paris.

Ready to visit Paris and make some memories with that special someone?

Lace up your shoes and let’s go!

Iconic Monuments

Paris, the City of Love, invites you to bask in the romantic allure of its iconic landmarks. Each monument tells a story, offering breathtaking views and an unmistakable sense of history.

1. Eiffel Tower

The iconic Eiffel Tower at sunrise from the Trocadero

No trip to Paris is complete without a visit to the Eiffel Tower. This iconic landmark is both a symbol of romance and an engineering marvel.

It offers breathtaking views of the city and is the perfect spot for a romantic evening with your sweetie. Take a romantic stroll around the base of the tower, or climb to the top for a panoramic view of the city.

The tower is especially beautiful at night when it is lit up with thousands of sparkling lights.  So, even if you’re not a night owl, you’ll want to stay awake long enough to catch the Eiffel Tower lights show!

“Don’t just stand there with your Eiffel Tower smile. Tell me you love me, and tell me in French.”  (I love this Eiffel Tower quote !) Jarod Kintz

2. Notre Dame Cathedral

Despite the 2019 fire, Notre Dame Cathedral remains a testament to Gothic architecture and centuries-old majesty.

You can still admire the intricate facades and feel the cathedral’s enduring spirit.  I can’t wait until the restorations are complete (it’s currently planned to re-open in December 2024).  I love this stunning cathedral, from its stained-glass windows to its gargoyles.

The area around Notre Dame, with its quaint streets and riverside views, provides a romantic backdrop for any couple exploring Paris.  (While you’re here, don’t miss Sainte-Chapelle!)

3. Arc de Triomphe

The magnificent Arc de Triomphe sits at Place Charles de Gaulle and is one of the must see Paris attractions

Crowning the Champs-Élysées, the Arc de Triomphe is an emblem of French pride and history.  Most people just stop to get a picture and carry on, but they’re missing out!

Climb to the top for a stunning panoramic perspective of the city’s grand avenues radially spreading out from this point.

It’s a powerful place to take in the view with someone special, surrounded by the city’s heartbeat.  It’s especially beautiful at night with the city’s monuments all aglow!

Beautiful Gardens

Immerse yourself in the charm of Paris through its enchanting gardens, perfect for a secluded stroll or a romantic picnic.

The gardens are lovely, with statues, flowers, and winding paths.  We always visit at least one of the gardens each time we visit Paris, it’s become one of our favorite things to do as a couple!

4. Luxembourg Gardens

The stunning Fontaine Médicis in Paris' Luxembourg Gardens

My favorite garden in Paris is the Jardin du Luxembourg .  This quintessential Parisian public park is filled with classical statuary dotting its well-manicured lawns.

Follow the shady paths and seek out the dramatic Medici Fountain or indulge your inner child and push a toy sailboat around the central pond.

We love to visit a market before heading to the Luxembourg Gardens, so we can enjoy a romantic picnic in this beautiful setting.

5. Versailles

Take an unforgettable day trip from Paris to the spectacular Gardens of Versailles .

Behold the vast expanse of opulent greenery, intricate landscaping, and stunning fountains – with the stunning backdrop of the Palace of Versailles!

Even if you don’t feel like visiting the Palace, the incredible gardens are a must-see in my book.  I love wandering through the formal gardens and admiring the sculptures.

One of the most romantic times to visit the Gardens of Versailles is during the spectacle of the Musical Fountains Show.  On these nights, watching the cascading waters dance is a magical experience!

6. Jardin des Tuileries

Typical building in the French style with pink flowers in the foreground from the Tuileries Garden in Paris France.

Stroll hand in hand through the Jardin des Tuileries , where art and nature blend seamlessly.

Grand alleys, impressive sculptures, and the subtle play of light and shadow accentuate its classical French garden style. Pull up some chairs and take a seat overlooking the ornamental ponds while you enjoy a quiet moment with your sweetie.

The Jardin des Tuileries enjoys a coveted location between the Louvre and the Place de la Concorde, two of the top attractions in Paris !

Incredible Art

Exploring Paris’ romantic side isn’t complete until you’ve seen its breathtaking art.

If you love art, wandering through the world-class museums of Paris with that special someone will be an experience you will treasure.

And, with so many great Paris museums to choose from, there’s sure to be one that’s perfect for you!

7. Louvre Museum

The glass pyramid of the Louvre Museum, the most popular Paris musuem

At the Louvre Museum , your hearts will skip a beat with every stunning piece you encounter.

Marvel together at the Mona Lisa ‘s enigmatic smile and feel the passion in Delacroix ‘s famed painting of Liberty Leading the People .

Admire the extensive collection of classical statuary including one of favorites, the Winged Victory of Samothrace.

The Louvre isn’t just a museum; it’s an emblem of art’s enduring love story.

  • Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci
  • Liberty Leading the People by Eugène Delacroix
  • Venus de Milo by Alexandros of Antioch
“It took me twenty years to discover painting: twenty years looking at nature, and above all, going to the Louvre.”   (one of many memorable quotes about Paris ) Pierre-Auguste Renoir

8. Musée d’Orsay

If you’re a fan of Impressionist art , then you’re going to love visiting the acclaimed Musée d’Orsay .   The Impressionists are some of my favorite artists, with the way the capture the essence of a scene with the interplay of light.

Be enamored by masterpieces from Monet and Renoir, and fall in love all over again as you view this gorgeous art.

  • Starry Night Over the Rhône by Vincent van Gogh
  • Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette by Pierre-Auguste Renoir

9. Musée Rodin

The Musée Rodin is a sanctuary of the works of a true master artist, Auguste Rodin .  The museum traces the evolution of his works, but the true star is the museum’s gardens.

Walk hand in hand through the tranquil gardens peppered with Rodin’s emotive sculptures. Reflect on love and longing with “The Kiss” and experience the raw emotion in “The Thinker”.

  • The Thinker
  • The Gates of Hell

Unforgettable Culinary Experiences

In Paris, romance and dining are a match made in heaven. Get ready to entice your taste buds with sumptuous French cuisine, sip on fine wines, and indulge in delectable pastries.

10. Seine River Dinner Cruise

The Eiffel Tower illuminated at night reflected in the Seine river is one of the best things to see on a night tour of Paris!

One of the most iconic and romantic Paris experiences is taking a Seine River dinner cruise. It’s definitely one of the top tours of Paris at night !

Enjoy the stunning views of the city while sipping champagne and snuggling up with your partner under the stars.

As you glide along the water, the city’s landmarks provide a spectacular backdrop to a candlelight dinner.

Some cruises even have live music and dancing, adding to the magical atmosphere.  (And for the ultimate in romance, some lines offer proposal packages where you can pop the question in style!)

11. Food Tours and Tastings

Immerse yourself in a food tour and wander the charming Parisian neighborhoods.

Walk through markets brimming with the freshest produce and the finest culinary treasures – Rue Cler is an excellent choice!

France is also famous for its cheese, and a cheese-tasting experience is a must-do for any foodie visiting Paris. From creamy Camembert to tangy Roquefort, there are hundreds of varieties of cheese to try.

With my sweet tooth, I’m a sucker for pastries, chocolates, and macarons.

No matter what kind of food is your favorite, sharing every delicious bite with your sweetie is the ultimate in romance!

12. Cooking Classes

Colorful array of authentic French macarons, a treat to enjoy on a food tour in Paris.

Take a cooking class and learn the art of French cooking together. It’s a fun and memorable thing to do in Paris as a couple, as you master the techniques to create mouthwatering dishes.

My husband and I once took a macaron-making class together.  It was a lot of fun learning the techniques (and eating the macarons at the end of the class!)

Not a great cook?  Not a problem!  You’ll be guided through all the steps.  And if it turns out looking a little odd?  Eat the evidence!

Taking a cooking class together is a fun way to learn a new skill that will be a unique souvenir of your fantastic trip to Paris!

Romantic Walks

Paris is known for its romantic ambiance – it is nicknamed the City of Love, after all!

There’s no better way to experience the city’s charms than by taking a leisurely stroll with your loved one. Here are some of the most romantic walks you can take in the City of Love.

13. The Beautiful Bridges of Paris

Elaborate statues decorate the Pont Alexandre III

The bridges of Paris are not only a means of crossing the Seine, but some of them are stunning in their structure and décor.

They also make excellent places to pause to admire the beauty of Paris from the river!  (Especially when it’s time to watch the dazzling Eiffel Tower lights show at night.)

  • Pont Alexandre III : The most stunning bridge in Paris, Pont Alexandre III is adorned with sculptures and decorative elements. The art nouveau lamps, the golden statues, and the detailed reliefs all reflect the grandeur and elegance of the Belle Époque period.
  • Pont des Arts : While the tradition of attaching love locks has been halted to protect the structure, the history and romance of the bridge still linger in the air.
  • Pont Neuf : As you venture across the city’s oldest bridge, let the intricate stonework and the sight of passing boats enhance your evening.  This iconic bridge leads to the Île de la Cité, where you can admire the Notre Dame Cathedral and Sainte Chapelle.

14. Stroll Along the Seine

Walking along the Seine River is one of the most romantic things you can do in Paris.

The river provides a stunning backdrop for a romantic walk, especially at night when the city lights reflect off the water.

Start your walk at the Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris, and make your way down the river towards the Eiffel Tower.

Along the way, you’ll pass by several iconic landmarks, including Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre Museum, and the Musée d’Orsay.

I dare you not to steal a kiss as you stroll along the banks of the Seine!

15. Exploring Montmartre

The I Love You Wall in Paris , with the phrase written in over 200 languages.

Montmartre is a charming neighborhood located on a hill in the north of Paris. It’s a popular destination for couples looking for a romantic walk.

Start your walk at the bottom of the hill and make your way up to the top, where you’ll find the Sacré-Cœur Basilica. Along the way, you’ll pass by narrow cobblestone streets, quaint cafes, and charming boutiques.

Share a tender moment at “ Le mur des je t’aime ” where ‘I love you’ is scrawled in over 250 languages.  (We finally found it on our most recent trip to Paris.  Can you find the ‘I love you’ written in your language?)

The view from the top of the hill is breathtaking, and it’s the perfect spot to watch the sunset with your loved one.

Paris for couples: A 4-day itinerary full of romance

A couple holding hands in Paris with the Louvre Museum in the background

The city’s reputation as a romantic destination for lovebirds and honeymooners is longstanding. Like cheese and wine, Paris and romance go hand in hand. To discover Paris at a leisurely pace, plan a trip of at least four days. This 4-day itinerary in Paris offers plenty of romantic activities, including cruises along the Seine and picnics with views of the Eiffel Tower. We recommend visiting Paris on weekdays to avoid the weekend family crowds but note that some museums are closed on Mondays or Tuesdays.

If you’re short on time, you can strike one or two days off and follow this 2-day Paris itinerary or 3-day itinerary for food lovers instead.

Where to stay in Paris

Montmartre in the northern suburbs of Paris is hands-down the city’s most romantic district and it’s home to small boutique hotels like Hotel Monsieur Aristide . To its south is Pigalle, Paris’ famous red-light district that’s getting trendier by the day. This is the area where you’ll find Maison Souquet , Secret de Paris , and other hotels that put couples in a naughty mood. Alternatively, book your accommodation in the 7th arrondissement to be close to the Eiffel Tower. Hotel Muguet and Hotel Duquesne Eiffel offer rooms overlooking this symbol of love.

Day 1: Center of Paris and Montmartre

The Louvre Museum

Dress up for your first day to match the style and glamor of the geographical heart of Paris. The star of the 1st arrondissement , the Louvre Museum is home to the Mona Lisa and it’s a must-visit for couples who appreciate art and history. Purchase an entry ticket online or book a skip-the-line tour of the world-famous Louvre .

Top ways to experience Louvre Museum

love trip paris couples

Apart from the Louvre, this district houses lesser-known museums such as Musée de l'Orangerie and Musée des Arts Décoratifs . Paris’ 1st arrondissement is also ideal for shopping in luxury boutiques and strolls through manicured gardens. Roam into the 2nd arrondissement to explore Rue Montorgueil where cafes, bakeries, cheese stores, and florists stand side by side. Or perhaps wander into elegant shopping arcades such as Galerie Vivienne and Passage des Panoramas to stop for a coffee break in intimate settings.

For the second part of your day, make your way to Montmartre which sprawls on a hill in the 18th arrondissement . This district feels like a romantic village with its cobbled streets teeming with art galleries. The Sacré-Cœur Basilica lies at the summit of Montmartre, offering panoramic vistas of Paris. Get a caricature of the both of you sketched by an artist at Place du Tertre or amble to Le Mur des Je t'aime , an artwork featuring the phrase “I love you” in 250 languages. Consider ending the day by catching a late-night cabaret spectacle while sipping champagne at the Moulin Rouge .

Travel tip: Up for a fun game with your partner? Uncover Montmartre’s romantic spots with the "Lost Lovers in Montmartre" Exploration Game .

Day 2: Seine River

A couple watching the sun set at Seine River.

Steeped in romance, the Seine meanders through Paris and splits it into two halves: the Left Bank (or Rive Gauche) and the Right Bank (or Rive Droite). Île de la Cité and Île Saint-Louis , however, lie in the middle of the Seine, offering dreamy views from multiple angles.

The main attraction on Île de la Cité is Sainte-Chapelle , a royal chapel with impressive stained glass windows. Tourists often overlook Île Saint-Louis as it doesn’t boast any big-ticket attractions, but this charming neighborhood is worth your visit for its traditional restaurants tucked in quiet alleys and its famous ice cream shop, Berthillon .

Switch your perspective by cruising along the Seine while soaking up the beauty of Paris. Bateaux Parisiens , Vedettes de Paris , and other operators offer such trips with options for lunch or dinner to accompany the ride. On the sightseeing cruise, you will spot iconic attractions such as the Eiffel Tower , the Louvre , Notre Dame Cathedral , and Musée d’Orsay . A more affordable alternative is Batobus, a river boat that offers you the freedom to hop on and off its nine stops along the Seine. At night, walk along the river bank and traverse beautiful bridges such as Pont des Arts while watching the city lights dance in the water.

Day 3: Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Élysées

The eiffel tower at sunset

After catching glimpses of the Eiffel Tower from afar, it’s time to see it up close. This landmark has witnessed countless first kisses and marriage proposals in its lifetime—and you can add your special moment to its list. Once again, a skip-the-line ticket or guided tour of the Eiffel Tower will save you precious time. Marvel at the Parisian skyline that becomes more dramatic the closer you get to the summit. Once you’re back down on the ground, enjoy a romantic picnic with Eiffel Tower views from the grassy lawns of Le Trocadéro or Parc du Champ de Mars . Then indulge in desserts from a patisserie along Rue Cler , pamper yourself with a couple’s massage at Sensation Spa , or visit the many museums in the vicinity.

Top ways to experience Eiffel Tower

Travel tip: Hire a photographer in Paris to get picture-perfect shots of your couples' trip with the Eiffel Tower as your backdrop.

Next up, hop on the metro to Arc de Triomphe , the symbol of the French national identity. It’s free to check out the eternal flame and the tomb of the unknown soldier at the base of the monument, but you’ll need a ticket to climb to the rooftop terrace that offers breathtaking views—especially during golden hour. Often referred to as the world’s most beautiful avenue, Champs-Élysées begins from the Arc de Triomphe and stretches 1.2 miles to Place de la Concorde . Walk along this leafy street for a shopping spree with your partner.

Day 4: Saint Germain and Latin Quarter

Old couple sitting on a bench at Jardin du Luxembourg gardens.

On the left bank of the Seine, the districts of Saint Germain and Latin Quarter have a little something for couples that love art, literature, food, nature, and nightlife. Start with Saint Germain, the focal point for literary and artistic life in Paris. Grab a drink at Café de Flore or Les Deux Magots , both known as the favorite haunts of celebrated authors such as Hemingway. To its east is the Latin Quarter, buzzing day and night with students from Sorbonne University. Seek out its top attractions or get lost in the streets to stumble upon quaint bookstores and hole-in-the-wall spots far from the tourist crowds.

The Latin Quarter has a vibrant multicultural food scene, so scour through the stalls in Mouffetard Market or join a food tour to sample a variety of treats in the district. Need a break from all the walking? There are pockets of greenery hidden amid the urban sprawl, so seek a bench in Luxembourg Gardens , Jardin des Plantes , or Square René Viviani . After sundown, walk back to Tour d'Argent for French food in a fancy setting, or step into a club along Rue de la Huchette to party the night away with your lover.

‘Love Trip: Paris’ Is a Perfectly Chaotic Valentine’s Treat

The new Freeform series puts a spin on dusty dating shows, throwing four American women into the most romantic city in the world to go through suitors like clearance CVS candy.

If there’s one thing Americans love, it’s Paris. And if there’s one thing that Parisians hate, it’s American Francophiles. But you wouldn’t know that by watching Love Trip: Paris , the new Freeform dating show premiering Feb. 14 (which streams on Hulu the next day).

The series puts a refreshingly absurdist spin on tired format tropes. No no, the Parisians that cycle in and out of the giant pied-à-terre in Love Trip: Paris are so smitten with the prospect of dating an American that they will happily debase themselves in some of the silliest ways for even a chance at a date.

With Emily being trapped in Paris for the better part of the last three years, it’s a bit shocking that no one has thought to ship off a handful of American girls to the most romantic city in the world for a dating show. Bravo’s Real Girlfriends in Paris tried its hand at something similar last fall, but couldn’t nail the right combination of flirty fun and date-heavy drama. Love Trip: Paris wisely decides that going big is far better than going home, deboarding the plane back on American soil in disgrace. Like Valentine’s Day, its very existence is filled with romantic chaos.

Love Trip: Paris takes a pretty basic dating show conceit—stick a bunch of strangers in a house together and see what happens—and hits fast-forward. Single Americans Caroline, Rose, Lacy, and Josielyn are all looking for love after exhausting their offerings back home. In the Love Trip house, they gather under one roof and are each given access to a magical app (which is surely not real, but I adore the show for running with it anyway) that displays some strangers and apartment numbers. The show gives an entirely new meaning to “Meet Sexy Singles in Your Area Today.” Surprise surprise, these potential dates are all living on the floor below them.

You may ask yourself, “How is that a new concept?” Well, slow down. I’m getting there! Love Trip: Paris takes a hint of The Bachelor and spices it up with a little Parisian flair. The show capitalizes on the warring stereotypes that French people are either too possessive or too liberated. The collection of French singles is comprised of suitors who get jealous far too easily and others who like to play the field. This presents an inherent conflict for all four girls, who each want something different. For instance, Rose is there specifically to find a husband. Whereas Caroline would just like a girl who can be honest with her.

love trip paris couples

Yes, you read that right. Love Trip: Paris is fluid, baby! Its cast isn’t just seeking Parisian men, but Parisian people! One of the most invigorating things about the show is that it doesn’t make a big deal out of its queer cast members. Caroline, a lesbian, is welcomed into the house without judgment, along with Lacy, who is sexually fluid, and Josielyn, who is trans and bisexual.

It’s beyond thrilling to see these women treated with love and respect, and not have to make their queerness a traumatic focal point of all of their experiences on the show. Love Trip: Paris transcends token casting and exploitation and instead sets up a safe and amiable environment for its cast. In a television landscape where reality dating competitions tip almost entirely cisgender and heterosexual, it’s exhilarating to watch these women navigate Paris and all of its sexy sweethearts while out and proud.

While the series certainly has a producer’s magic touch, its drama feels real instead of overly manufactured. The cast’s main mission is to date as many of the Parisians as they can to see who they click with. This, of course, results in a wave of extreme jealousy among the French cast—it’s just a matter of whether they’ll exorcize that on the American girls or each other.

In only the first three episodes, the Parisians are battling it out for time with the Americans, resulting in some heated French in-fighting. Other times, the Parisians will express their disbelief that one of the American women (who, again, are trying to get a sense of their options) would dare to go on another date with anyone else.

This latter form of jealousy leads to some fantastic laugh-out-loud moments, like when a French suitor named Roman gives Caroline a creepy charcoal drawing that Roman did of her… before they even have a chance to go on a date. Or, when Gessica (that’s “Jessica” with a “G,” or “Guess-ica,” if you want to have more fun with it), another French housemate, finds out that Josielyn was hot-tubbing with a guy after their date.

love trip paris couples

Gessica dramatically pulls up selfies that she and Josielyn took together and deletes them, saying, “This is the day we had yesterday that you just threw away, so I’m going to delete [these photos] because I don’t want to keep the memories anymore.”

But the show isn’t all laughs, there are stakes here too. The Parisian housemates only have a small chunk of time to make an impression on the four American women. If they don’t, they’ll be sent packing, making room for two more French singles every week.

With plenty of hot new blood coming in every episode, each French contestant has to ensure that they’re connecting with someone, or they could be forgotten entirely. But if one of the Americans isn’t a match, they’re free to pursue another. They just have to be careful: these girls talk, and if the Parisians are behaving badly, it won’t end well.

love trip paris couples

Love Trip: Paris is a bit like an overly convoluted dream. No one is really going to want to hear you talk it. it’s just something that you have to experience for yourself. And there are plenty of reasons to give it a shot. Whether it’s a French contestant named Camille—who looks like she strolled off the set of Ab Fab , carrying her own wine (and looking like she already dipped into it)—or a hot hunk named Mirko, who plays the show like a devious game (and whose Instagram account I need for science), everyone seems to have been plucked from obscurity to bring the perfect amount of seductive Parisian drama.

The best part of Love Trip: Paris , however, is its main quartet of hopeless American romantics. Each one of them is bubbly and filled with personality. But together, they form a friendship that grounds the show in a welcome dose of real reality. They stick up for each other, fight for each other, and genuinely want to see their new friends fall in love. Love Trip: Paris might be premiering on the most romantic holiday of the year, but the show is a fabulously fun reminder that our friends come first, and relationships are just a nice bonus along the way.

Love Trip Paris cast four young women standing on a bridge in front of the Sacre Coeur

If you've ever been unlucky in love and dreamed of moving to Paris for a romantic adventure, you're not alone. And in new Freeform reality dating show Love Trip: Paris , you can live vicariously through four young Americans taking the City of Lights by storm — and snagging plenty of kisses while they're at it.

The reality show takes a fun approach to a typical dating show, creating a more fluid, diverse, and queer environment. It follows four lucky aspiring Parisians who move in together in a Paris penthouse to find it full of potential suitors. There's Caroline, a personal trainer from New York who “thinks there is a strong possibility that her woman could be in Paris"; Rose, a Boston realtor who is eager for a passionate Frenchman; Lacy, a mental health podcaster based in Nashville who learned French during the pandemic and is looking for romantic prospects of any gender in Paris; and Josielyn, a Los Angeles model who feels destined for Parisian love. (Plus, for the Las Culturistas fans — Matt Rogers is narrating.)

Four young women in paris standing in front of the eiffel tower

In the first trailer for Love Trip: Paris , which Teen Vogue is premiering exclusively, we meet the four young women as they prepare for the adventure of a lifetime. As montages of picnics and Parisian landmarks flash by, Josielyn admits she often falls for “the wrong kind of people,” while Rose is determined: she even brought her own engagement ring. Luckily, the house is stacked with beautiful floors — and beautiful people. “Seduction is a game,” one French suitor says. Some may be better at it than others; Rose says the French dates have a “jealous, possessive nature,” while Caroline has found the one queer person in the world who doesn't care about astrology. Rouge flag?

Tune into all the escapist drama and romantic trysts when Love Trip: Paris premieres on Freeform on Feb. 14. Check out the trailer below:

31 Romantic Things To Do In Paris For Couples In 2024

fountain and pond with flowers in Luxembourg Gardens - one of the best things to do in paris for couples

If you’re trying to find romantic things to do in Paris, you have come to the right place. I have been to Paris with my then boyfriend, now husband many times, and in my personal view, Paris is a great place to explore as a couple. There are plenty of things to do, things to see and places to eat that are perfect for couples to share together.

I have my own recommendations for romantic things to do in Paris, which I share below, but I have also canvassed the opinions of some other travel bloggers, so this is a combined view from many of us who know and love Paris.

Now, if you are familiar with my blog, you might remember me writing about Paris Syndrome and how some people become disappointed if they expect Paris to be romantic everywhere all of the time. So, is this post on romantic things to do in Paris for couples a contradiction to that post?  No, because two things are true: Paris is not 100% about romance and glamour; at the same time, there are many wonderful romantic things to do in Paris (if you know where to find them).

So if you want to know all the best romantic things to do in Paris for couples, read on.

31 Romantic Things To Do In Paris

Here is my list of 30 romantic things to do in Paris for couples in 2024. The list is long and organised into categories, so feel free to use the table of contents (above) to skip around.

Romantic Paris Couple Activities

These things to do in Paris for couples are fun or romantic activities and they involve paying for a ticket or access to the activity.

1. Arc De Triomphe Rooftop At Sunset

Contributed by me, Martha from MayCauseWanderlust.com

Let’s start with on of my favourites.

The Arc De Triomphe is an impressive sight. Napoleon’s monument to the victory of France in the Battle of Austerlitz is the perfect centre-piece to the grand boulevards that converge on Place de Charles de Gaulle. It’s great to see it from street level on whatever kind of visit to Paris you go on, but if you’re in Paris as a couple, I urge you to get a ticket to the rooftop terrace on the arch. It is a great experience to share with someone special.

Eiffel tower seen over the rooftops of paris at sunset

My advice is to time your visit to start an hour before sunset so that you and your lover can watch the sky change colour as the sun goes down and the lights come on over Paris. It’s a perfect viewpoint, with 360 views all over the city, including a great view of the Eiffel Tower.

It’s such a good thing to do in Paris that I included it at the end of my itinerary for 4 days in Paris . And I even suggest it as something to do even if you’re only in Paris for one day .

Access is via 284 steps up a spiral staircase, so it’s not for the faint-hearted, but if you have mobility issues, there is a small elevator that you can ask to use instead. As with most major monuments in Paris, it’s best to book Arc De Triomphe tickets ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

2. Row Boating In Bois De Vincennes

Contributed by Jen from Dabbling in Jet Lag

How cute would it be to go row boating with your significant other? And what better place than Bois de Vincennes ?

couple rowing a boat on a lake with flowers and trees on the banks

Located on the edge of Paris in the 12th arrondissement, this beautiful park is full of lush gardens, scenic views, and endless walking paths. It’s the perfect spot to relax and spend an afternoon. Then, if you’re up for an excursion, rent a paddle boat and explore Lake Daumesnil. It’s a scenic setting that will no doubt give that extra fairytale-like feel to your afternoon.

Bois de Vincennes is also home to several other fantastic attractions like Parc Floral de Paris and Château Vincennes. And there are plenty of bakeries nearby where you can buy food for a picnic if you want to add that to your date itinerary.

My husband and I have spent many Saturday afternoons in Bois de Vincennes. It’s our personal sanctuary where we go to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. And even though it’s popular, the park is so big it never feels full.

Bois de Vincennes is open year-round. But, if you’re  visiting Paris in summer , you’ll be sure to have nice weather.

3. Top Of The Eiffel Tower

Of course, one of the absolutely classic romantic things to do in Paris is to go up the Eiffel Tower . At such a height (300 meters), the views over Paris are stunning – and it can be a lovely thing to experience together as a couple. You can gaze over the city, using one of the viewfinders and spot your favourite landmarks from on high. And perhaps you’ll have a kiss at the top.

viewfinder at the top of the Eiffel Tower with view over the gardens and buildings of Paris

This icon of Paris was built for the 1889 Exposition Universelle, 100 years after the French Revolution. It took 2 years and 7,300 tonnes of iron – and it wasn’t received well by all: one critic at the time called it a ‘truly tragic street lamp’.

But, despite some early complaints, it has endured and remains the hero of the Paris skyline – it draws the eye from all around like a magnet. Climbing it is kind of a rite of passage – definitely something to plan for your first time in Paris .

It is popular, though, so it’s best to book your tickets ahead of time, especially if you want to go to the top floor, which has limited space.  And bear in mind that at that height, it will be cold on the outdoor viewing platform. I went to the top of the Eiffel Tower with my husband on our first Valentine’s Day together (he surprised me with a trip to Paris – how romantic!) and it was freezing in February! But it can be cold up there even in the height of summer, so bring layers.

4. Seine River Cruise

Contributed by Lisa of Waves and Cobblestones

Taking a Seine River cruise can be a really romantic thing for couples to do when visiting Paris.   It’s also a great way to get an overview of the city, as many of the  famous Paris attractions  are located along the banks of the Seine.

glass curved roof of the grand palais in paris seen across the river seine

You can craft your own Paris sightseeing adventure using the hop-on-hop-off Batobus.  Batobus Paris has nine stops along the Seine, and a one-day adult pass costs around €20. In addition to the Batobus, two of the most popular river cruise companies are Bateaux Parisiens, located near the Eiffel Tower, and Bateaux Mouches, located midway between the Pont de l’Alma and the Pont des Invalides.

Cruises operate from late morning and into the evening; timetables vary seasonally.   Snuggle with your sweetie as you pass by iconic Parisian monuments such as Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower.  Regular sightseeing cruises cost around €15 for an adult ticket, with higher prices for special packages.

Book a dinner cruise and spend a dreamy evening on the Seine, enjoying a delicious meal while you glide past the illuminated monuments of Paris.  My favourite is the hourly twinkling lights show on the Eiffel Tower.

And if you’re ready to pop the question, there are even marriage proposal cruise packages –  très romantique!

5. Climb The Dome Of Sacré-Cœur

The Basilica of Sacré Coeur de Montmartre , or Sacré-Cœur for short, kind of oozes romance. It’s a Roman Catholic church, but its architecture is elegant and a little whimsical. The white stone and smooth curved domes are incredibly attractive.

view over city of paris with the eiffel tower in the distance and white stone columns and domes at the side

Why not take your date to the Sacré-Cœur – it’s one of the loveliest things to do in Paris for couples. Start at the foot of the butte of Montmartre and admire it from the gardens. Then walk up the hill, or take the funicular, to the entrance.  The view is nice there, but it gets crowded. Explore the church interior and, if you feel like a climb, there are steps up to the top, where you can gaze across Paris from within the domes.

Afterwards, have a walk around Montmartre , and grab a drink in Place du Tertre.

6. Roue De Paris: Tuileries Ferris Wheel

Contributed by Melanie from Postcards And Places

Amusement parks can be romantic places, which makes the Roue de Paris (Ferris wheel) at the Jardin des Tuileries one of the romantic things to do in Paris for couples. It even made an appearance on an episode of the Netflix series Emily in Paris !

large ferris wheel lit up at night

At 60 metres (197 feet) high, it offers couples a private view of the city from above. Sitting together in that little cabin, you can see north all the way to the Sacré-Cœur and southwest to the glittering Eiffel Tower. Sunset is a beautiful and romantic time to go, and at night, which was when I was there, you can see all the sparkling lights of the city. Each rotation of the wheel gives you another opportunity to admire the views—or not, of course.

The big wheel is located near the entrance at the northern edge of the Jardin des Tuileries. The Fête des Tuileries, which is free to enter, takes place during the summer, from late June to late August.

7. Palace Of Versailles

Contributed by Jill from Jill On Journey

Is there anything more romantic than visiting a palace and its flowery gardens? Just outside of Paris, you can find one of the world’s most iconic palaces and probably one of the most fascinating places in France: The Palace of Versailles .

It has been built in the 17th century and is especially well-known for its amazing gardens full of fountains and colourful flowers. So Spring is definitely the best time to visit, especially if you’re looking for a romantic time. While this is also the most popular time of the year, you will find a quiet spot for a romantic picnic within the 250 acres for sure. You can easily spend hours in the impressive gardens and use the time to  slow down during your trip .

ornately decorated room with portraits, gold trim and tall windows

In case you’re also interested in visiting the castle itself, you should plan to spend around 2 hours inside. The Royal Family around King Louis XIV actually fell so in love with the castle that they moved the royal court from Paris to Versailles in 1682. Besides, it’s also a place that represents peace, as the end of the first World War was signed here.

You can reach Versailles in just under one hour, both by train or by car. Tickets start around €20, but you can enter for free if you’re an EU citizen under the age of 26. Usually, the palace is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., but there are also specials, such as a fountain show at night. Sounds romantic, right?

I visited Versailles in winter and only got a glimpse of what the gardens may look like in Spring, so I can’t wait for my next trip to Paris in springtime .

Food-based Paris Date Ideas

If you’re looking for food-based romantic things to do in Paris, here are some ideas for food- or drink-oriented dates in Paris.

8. Sunset Drinks On Saule Pleureur De La Pointe

The furthest tip of Square du Vert-Galant, the banks of Île de la Cité form a point into the middle of the Seine. There’s a gorgeous weeping willow tree on Saule Pleureur de la Pointe and at the end of the day, it’s a popular spot for Parisians to come and sit, often with a picnic or a bottle of wine to share.

couple sit under a willow tree on the banks of the seine at sunset

It’s lovely to watch the sun go down over Paris from this place: the sky changing colour over Pont ds Arts and the Louvre. So pick up a bottle or a snack and get here early to secure your spot on the riverside.

9. Coffee In Cute Paris Cafes

Now, I did say in my post about Paris Syndrome , that if you expect Paris to be all cobbled streets and cute cafes, you could be disappointed. However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t many cute cafes in Paris.

A lovely date idea for couples in Paris is to have a drink and enjoy each other’s company in one of Paris’s pretty cafes . There are lots of them – more than I have visited, I’m sure, but here are three of my personal favourites…

cute cafe with a black and green rustic shop front on a cobbled street in paris

Odette is a tiny little place in the Latin Quarter – but so cute. It only has a few tables, all outdoors, so it might be best to avoid it if the weather is bad. Its appeal is in its quaint shop front, its deliciously light choux buns, and its view of Notre Dame.

Au Vieux Paris d’Arcole is another place that is best to visit in nice weather as the nicest seats are outside on the street, looking towards the glorious front of this café. Vines cover the wall, giving off a wild country cottage feel – right in the middle of Île de la Cité.

La Maison Rose is a gorgeous pink cafe in Montmartre. And not only is it very pretty, it has a bohemiam heritage: in the early 20th century, it was owned by an artist who was friends with Dali and Picasso; and in the 1960s, it served writers and singers such as Albert Camus and Dalida. Unsurprisingly, it is popular, so best to book ahead.

10. Take A Cooking Class

Contributed by Taylor from Traverse With Taylor

A quintessentially French experience to  add to your couple’s Paris itinerary  is to participate in a Parisian Cooking Class.

It is no secret that the French are well-known for their love language being food. From mouth-watering crepes to delectable wines and, of course, bread and pastries of all kinds.

If you feel like trying one of the more unique things to do in Paris for couples, try your hand at this French art with your significant other. It’s the perfect chance to get your hands dirty and make memories doing something that’s likely a new experience for both of you.

row of macarons in different colours

Cooking classes are available for many types of foods. Learn to make  macarons ,  french pastries , or even a  three-course dinner that comes complete with a market visit and wine tasting.

Whatever you make, this will be a fun, romantic experience in Paris that you won’t soon forget!

11. Picnic In Parc Des Buttes Chaumont

Contributed by Sam Opp from Find Love and Travel

A romantic spot that is particularly special is the Parc des Buttes Chaumont , which is an off-the-beaten-path Paris park that feels so authentic to France and is enjoyed by both tourists and locals. It is a perfect romantic spot to add to your 5-day Paris itinerary .

small temple on top of a rocky cliff surrounded by trees

The location is perfect for a sunrise, sunset stroll, or picnic. And with 25 hectares of an open field and free Wi-Fi, you can bring a picnic along with you to enjoy. If you’re feeling more adventurous, enjoy the lovely views from the top of the hanging bridges for a fun time with your partner. Not only that, but the spectacular views of the city from the top of the cliff that you get to experience here are really charming.

The park is nice to visit at any time of the year, but is especially wonderful in the Spring and Summer and can be easily visited by train.

I love this destination and find that you can really feel at peace here and it easily makes the perfect date night for you and your partner to escape from the crowded city and relax and unwind.

12. Dinner At A Cozy Bistro

Contributed by Amber from Amber Everywhere

Whether you visit Paris for a weekend or longer, no trip is complete without a traditional French meal. There are, to be sure, plenty of restaurants to choose from in Paris, but a cosy bistro can provide an intimate dining experience, perfect for a romantic date night.

My favourite bistro in Paris is Le Florimond , a small restaurant located about a 10-minute walk from Champs de Mars, the park that is adjacent to the Eiffel Tower. At Le Florimond, you’ll find traditional French fare, but with plenty of vegetables incorporated into the dishes.

plate of some kind of stew with root vegetables and a sausage

French bistros can sometimes have very few vegetarian or vegan options on the menu. Alert the restaurant ahead of time if you have dietary restrictions to ensure they’ll be able to accommodate you.

When visiting any bistro in Paris, make a reservation ahead of time if you can. As a general rule, you’ll want to avoid any restaurant within several blocks of the city’s major landmarks – these are generally targeted towards tourists and offer lower-quality options. Google Translate has a photo translation function that can be very helpful for translating menus if you don’t speak French.

13. Restaurants With A View

If you’d like a special date as a couple, a good romantic option is a dinner with a view. Paris doesn’t have many high-rise buildings, but it is still possible to find restaurants with views across the city.

modern restairant with views over paris including gothic church towers

Some of my own favourite restaurants with a view include Le Georges , which is a restaurant on the top floor of the Pompidou Centre with views towards Tour Saint-Jacques. The views are clearest out on the open-air terrace, but there is indoor seating available. The menu is mixed Mediterranean.

L’Oiseau Blanc is in the Peninsula Hotel and has a lovely indoor dining room with a view of the Eiffel tower – indoor, making it a good option for Paris in winter . Do check the menu before you book, though – it is definitely on the expensive side (my husband and I had severe menu shock when we went recently). However, the food was wonderful and the service was impeccable. There’s also an outside terrace you could relax on after dinner if the weather is good.

La Tour d’Argent is a restaurant with a long heritage, a Michelin star and a view of Notre Dame. I went here as a couple, with my husband on a day trip to Paris. It was before the renovation, so I don’t know what the dining room will look like, but both the food and the view were very impressive.

14. Falafel & Place Des Vosges

Contributed by Kate McCulley of Adventurous Kate

A lot of people think that romance in Paris is all about candlelit dinners and bottles of wine, escargots and steak au poivre followed by an île flottante, finished off with a cheese plate. Well, if you’ve been eating like that for days in Paris, you and your partner will be eager for something lighter — but no less romantic.

Take a stroll over to Rue des Rosiers in le Marais. The Marais is one of the  best areas to stay and is also home to historically marginalized communities in Paris, including the Jewish community and the LGBTQ community.

The Jewish centre of Paris is on Rue des Rosiers. Here you’ll find L’As du Fallafel , a kosher Middle Eastern restaurant dishing up sumptuous pitas packed with falafel, hummus, and plenty of veggies sauces. And it’s under 10 euros — a Parisian bargain!

people sitting in small groupd on grass surrounded by handsome red brick buildings

Walk around the corner to Place des Vosges , a beautiful square in the heart of the Marais, and join the locals sitting on the grass or on one of the surrounding benches. You’ve put together a romantic picnic for two — perhaps not the obvious French picnic, but a delicious one.

Free Things To Do In Paris For Couples

It’s easy to spend money in Paris, so if you’ve already blown your budget or you’re simply keen to avoid that, here are some ideas of FREE things to do in Paris for couples.

15. Walk Down Pink Cherry Blossom Tunnels

This idea is season-specific, because there will not be blossoms in Paris all year-round. But if you happen to be in Paris during cherry blossom season (late March to mid/late April), this could be a really lovely romantic thing to do in Paris – and it costs nothing!

Check my post about all the best places to see cherry blossoms in Paris – and pick one or two for a stroll.

tunnel of pink cherry blossoms in paris

One that comes to mind for me is Mail de Bievre , which is a walkway in a park in the south of Paris where the blossoms form a tunnel – it’s so gorgeous and you feel like you’re immersed in a pink wonderland. There are benches along the path, so you can stay here a while, enjoying the pretty pinkness.

A more centrally-located spot that I think is especially romantic is Square Gabriel-Pierne , where the blossoms form a canopy over this quiet square.

16. Wander Around Villagey Montmartre

One of the best romantic and also free things to do in Paris for couples is to enjoy a stroll through Montmartre . It’s a hilltop area with a villagey feel, and there are plenty of cobbled streets to wander down with your lover. In Spring, it’s also one of the places where you can see cherry blossoms in Paris .

steps with old fashioned street lamps and lush green trees

There are also plenty of cute cafes and bars if you want to stop and get a drink. Some particularly pretty places include La Maison Rose and Le Consulat , which both have a distinguished list of past patrons including famous artists. There are also some lovely stairways connecting the hilltop with the lower ground, these are pretty in and of themselves, and they also give some glimpses over Paris.

cobbled street curves uphill towards a pink building and the towers of the sacre-coeur in montmartre

It’s very rewarding to simply wander and see what you find – no agenda. However, if you would prefer to have some pointers, you could follow my route on this self-guided walking tour of Montmartre , which includes all the main landmarks as well as some lesser-known corners of Montmartre.

17. Explore Luxembourg Gardens

Contributed by Denise from Chef Denise

Exploring the Luxembourg Gardens , or Jardin du Luxembourg as it is known in Paris, is one of the most romantic things for couples to do in the City of Love. In the heart of the 6th arrondissement, you’ll find this 60-acre park that expands to the edge of the Latin Quarter. Complete with a princely palace, a forest, stunning gardens, open-air cafés, secret fountains and more, you could spend the whole day here.

ornate fountain and pond lined with flowers in luxembourg gardens in paris

The Luxembourg Palace dominates the north end. Pre-revolution, it actually was a palace, but currently, it’s the home of France’s Senate. Stroll through the forest and admire the gorgeous gardens with colourful blooms. In the northeast corner, you’ll find one of the loveliest statues in Paris, the Fontaine Médici. This hidden gem dates back to 1630, and when you peek around the back you’ll see another secret fountain few ever notice.

Watch the boat races on the pond at the centre of the park. And if you spend enough time here you’ll probably need a snack. There are a few cafés and two restaurants that offer some of the  traditional French foods  you will not want to miss. Bon Appétit!

18. Watch The Eiffel Tower Light Up

Contributed by Alanna from Periodic Adventures

One of the most romantic things to do in Paris is watching the Eiffel Tower light up with your significant other. There’s something magical about seeing the lights twinkling in the evening air, and holding the hand of your partner.

The Eiffel Tower lights up each night on the hour starting at sundown. Because the time of sunset changes seasonally and daily, there is no set start time. However, the final lighting of the Eiffel Tower is at 1 am when there is a special light-up consisting of only the white twinkling lights (not the yellow decorative lights). The 1 am lighting is the last light-up experience each night.

looking up at the eiffel tower lit up in yellow lights at night

There are many places to watch the Eiffel Tower light up but here are some of the most romantic.

First, from the Eiffel Tower Garden below, you can bring an evening picnic and a blanket and set up your watch party from the grass. You won’t be alone in the centre of the garden, but if you venture to the left or right sides of the main stretch, you can find more peaceful, romantic viewing areas that are less crowded.

Alternatively, head down to the Seine with wine and a picnic and watch while listening to the water and boats go by. You can often find less crowded and more romantic spots here because the Seine spans such a great distance in Paris. And, because the Eiffel Tower is such a tall beacon, you can see it from almost anywhere.

One final spot to check out would be behind the Carousel adjacent to the Eiffel Tower. The area out front is very crowded typically, but behind it, you can watch both the Eiffel Tower light up and the carousel in action.

19. Stroll Along Canal Saint Martin

Contributed by PlacesofJuma

A romantic stroll along Canal Saint Martin is a must-do for couples in Paris. This little canal, located in the east of Paris, was completed in 1825 and is nowadays a real gem in the City of Love. It is located in a gorgeous former working-class area. If you wish to stay in this neighbourhood, there are also some cute  boutique hotels  and restaurants for a dinner.

peaceful tree-lined canal with people sitting on the edges and the sky reflected on the water

The most beautiful section of the 4.5-kilometre Canal Saint Martin is located between Rue Dieu and Rue des Récollets. Especially the flair is so romantic here. The canal enchants with many magnificent locks, Venetian footbridges, lush green parks with flowers and chestnut trees, and of course, delightful small spots to relax and enjoy by the water.

One of the finest things you can do in Paris is walk down the canal with your love and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Bring a bottle of red wine and a wonderful meal to experience the unique ambience of hidden Paris right on the water. But don’t forget to bring your camera! The Canal Saint Martin provides several romantic picture options.

20. Sunrise At Trocadero

Contributed by Christine from Live Love Run Travel

If you are looking for romantic things to do in Paris for couples, a sunrise at Trocadero is tough to beat. Trocadero is known as being one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots , but if you visit in the afternoon or evening, you’ll find it crowded and harder to enjoy.

love trip paris couples

At sunrise, Trocadero lacks the crowds and gives it a more private feel. You can stroll around the area and surrounding gardens or just stand at the top and take in the view as the sun rises and lights up the famous tower.

Trocadero offers clear views of the Eiffel Tower looking across Pont d’Lena with the Jardins du Trocadero and the River Seine adding to the romance of the view. This outdoor area is free and open 24 hours a day, and it is worth the visit no matter when you can make it. However, if you can visit at sunrise, you’ll be in for a magical treat.

If you don’t mind spending some money, take home a memory of your sunrise adventure by hiring a photographer to shoot some couples’ shots while you are there. It’s a popular spot for engagement photos and couple photos as well as proposals.

21. Explore The Covered Passage Of Paris

If you and your date are interested in historical architecture and unique independent shops, maybe you’d like to spend some time exploring some of the best covered passages in Paris ?

The covered passages are purpose-built covered walkways dating from the 19 th century. They were designed to be a more genteel place to shop than the open street. While some have since fallen into disrepair, several are still very attractive spaces, with unique shops and cafes and charming original features.

They’re dotted around Paris, but there are three of my favourites which are close to each other and could be explored together as a couple. Passage Verdeau , Passage Jouffroy and Passage des Panoramas run onto each other, so you could start in Verdeau and work your way through to Panoramas. They’re perfect for browsing or finding somewhere for a drink and a conversation.

arched walkway with glass ceiling and old-fashioned street lights in a covered passage in Paris

Verdeau and Jouffroy both have art and print shops and several old and rare bookshops. Passage des Panoramas is probably my favourite: it specialises in vintage stamp shops, but also has many good food options, including a great pizza place, and some classic bistros.

22. Enjoy The View From Promenade Plantée René-Dumont

There’s a scene from the movie Before Sunset, where the two reconnected lovers walk in Paris along an elevated garden walkway. This is Promenade Plantée René-Dumont (or Coulée verte René-Dumont) and walking along it is one of the lovely outdoor things to do in Paris for couples.

pink cherry blossoms on a garden pathway

Similar to the High Line in New York City , it was built on top of the former tracks of the Vincennes railway line and runs 4.7 km (2.9 miles) from Avenue Daumesnil near the Bastille to Boulevard Périphérique. You don’t have to walk the entire length, of course. You could join at one of the many stairways up to the walkway and come down when you want.

If you’re in Paris in Spring , Summer or Autumn, you should find the walkway is alive with plants and people. It also presents some nice views of the streets below.

23. Walk The Banks Of The Seine

One of the classic things to do in Paris for couples is, of course, strolling the banks of the Seine River . It’s perfect to do if it is your first time in Paris because you see so much of the city from the river.

haussmann style buildings next to a river and bridge in paris

The river, and its UNESCO World Heritage-listed banks, are steeped in history. There has been a settlement on the River Seine at IL de la Cite, since the Roman times, and along the river, you’ll find many of the major monuments in Paris, including Notre-Dame, the Louvre, Musee d’Orsay and of course, the Eiffel Tower. There are many historic bridges, including Pont Neuf and Pont des Arts.

The River even plays a role in helping us understand Paris: the Right Bank ( Rive Droite ) is associated with the official business of Paris: it’s where the Hotel De Ville (town hall) and Royal Palace are, and where the well-to-do lived. The Left Bank ( Rive Gauche) is known for being the more intellectual and philosophical part: it’s where the Sorbonne university is, and also where philosophers hung out in the 1950s and 60s.

Finally, adding to the river’s charm are the Bouquinistes : independent vendors selling old books, magazines, prints and collectables from iconic green metal stalls. Have a browse with your loved one and maybe you’ll find a souvenir to remember your time in Paris by.

24. Discover The Pretty Parks And Gardens Of Paris

Contributed by Renee of Dream Plan Experience

Is there anything more enchanting than  pretty parks and gardens in Paris ? It’s here that you’ll find couples slowly strolling arm in arm or sitting side-by-side on a bench. Engrossed in a quiet conversation, perhaps reading aloud from a book to each other or embraced in a kiss. It’s the beauty in that quiet moment, with the backdrop of a beautiful park that is utterly romantic.

Stroll through the gardens of the Rodin Museum in the 7 th  arrondissement. Past the neatly trimmed boxwoods and clipped yews bordering the flower beds seeking out the sculptures by the famed artist. Some are out in the open while others are discreetly set in the bushes.

Across the Seine visit one of the most romantic parks in Paris, Palais Royal , in the 1 st  arrondissement. Walk under the tree-lined pathways of this elegantly landscaped grounds of the 17th-century palace. Of the 52 benches found under the linden trees of this garden, 18 are inscribed on the backrests with 20th-century quotes.

Our favourite bench is adorned with “ Ma joie vient de la nouveauté de mon émotion”  – César Vallejo (1919-1937), which translates to “My joy comes from the newness of my emotion.”

Arty Things To Do In Paris For Couples

If you’re interested in art, you might like to go to a museum or exhibition as a couple in Paris. The most famous Paris galleries are, of course, the Louvre and Musee D’Orsay . However, we have a few more ideas for you here.

25. Musée de l’Orangerie

Paris is full of world-class art, and while some of the major art galleries contain huge collections, when you’re looking to spend quality time as a couple, you don’t necessarily want so many pieces of art to work through.

One of my favourite galleries in Paris has a small exhibit, but it is perfect for experiencing something unique together as a couple.

I visited Musée de l’Orangerie when travelling in Paris solo , but my first visit was while I was in Paris with my husband. We’d wandered around Paris all day and stumbled upon it towards the end of the day (I actually didn’t know about it at the time – it was a lovely surprise discovery).

The museum’s main exhibition is a series of Monet’s waterlilies: large-scale paintings that are arranged in two oval-shaped rooms, four in each room. There’s nothing but these waterlilies and the gorgeous light from the skylight above. There are seats in the middle of each room, so you and your partner can sit and take it all in, sharing this immersive experience together.

You can buy tickets for Musée de l’Orangerie in advance.

26. Giverny & Monet’s Garden

Contributed by Kristin of Global Travel Escapades

If you’re staying in Paris and looking for a relaxing and romantic activity to do with your partner, consider visiting the charming town of Giverny , once home to Monet. Located about an hour outside of Paris by way of train, this small village is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life in the French capital.

You and your partner will be able to take in the lovely sights of all the small cottages and petite stone buildings while wandering along the winding cobblestone streets. You also find there are a couple of lovely parks located along the Seine and that it’s easy enough to find an undisturbed spot to have an intimate picnic without hundreds of other people joining you — unlike in Paris.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for a more educational activity while in Giverny, you can visit Monet’s house and gardens . Here, you’ll be able to see a restored version of his home, explore his beautiful gardens, and walk around his dreamy estate.

All in all, if you and your partner are ready to get away from all the chaos of the city and enter the idyllic French countryside, then consider making your way to Giverny. It is one of the best day trips from Paris by train .

27. Louis Vuitton Foundation

Contributed by Bea from PackYourBags

The Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris has become a romantic destination for many couples. Located in the beautiful park Bois de Boulogne , it is one of the most iconic buildings in the city of light and provides breathtaking views of the Parisian skyline.

angular steel stone and wood structure through which is seen skyscrapers in the distance

The museum has both visiting and permanent exhibits. And occasionally there are music performances at the foundation.

A visit to the museum can be followed by a lunch or dinner at Le Frank , a restaurant inside the foundation, run by a Michelin-star decorated chef Jean-Louis Nomicos. What better way to enjoy a date than with art and an elegant meal? And to finish off your romantic day, a stroll in the surrounding Bois de Boulogne is highly recommended.

The foundation is open daily (except Tuesdays) from morning through to evening (hours vary from day to day). Visitors should buy their tickets ahead of time and pick the time of their visit. Tickets are €16 per adult and €5 for people under 18. A €2-euro shuttle takes museum ticket holders from Place de Charles de Gaulle and back.

Art, architecture, music, a Michelin-star meal and a nature walk – that’s a recipe for a perfect romantic day in Paris if you ask me.

28. Love Wall In Montmartre

Contributed by Constance at A Well-Read Wanderer

One iconic romantic spot to visit in Paris is found in the bohemian neighbourhood of Montmartre. The I Love You Wall , or le mur des je t’aime in French, was created in 2000 by two artists, Frédéric Baron and Claire Kito. The Love Wall was created to serve as both a rendezvous point for lovers in Paris and a tribute to universal love.

wall with blue tiles on which is written phrases meaning 'i love you' in many languages

The Paris Love Wall is covered in lava tiles bearing the phrase “I love you,” but written in 311 languages. The story goes that the idea for the love wall started with Baron asking his friends, neighbours, and then strangers to write down “I love you” in their own language, and the project grew until it included more than 300 expressions of love in as many languages.

This is not a showy location in Paris, although it was featured in Emily in Paris season 3 as a scenic proposal location. The Love Wall is unassuming but moving, and perhaps best of all it’s free!  Come grab a bench and take in this beautiful tribute to love, and make sure to get a photo of you and your special someone before continuing your romantic Paris walk.

And if you ask me, if you or your special someone are book lovers, the most romantic stroll in Paris is the one that leads to a Paris bookstore .

Special & Romantic Things To Do In Paris

To round out this list of romantic things to do in Paris for couples, here are a few which are a little bit pricey, but might be just right for a special occasion.

29. Lunch On The Eiffel Tower

Contributed by Daniel and Ilona from Top Travel Sights

One of the most romantic experiences in Paris is dinner on the Eiffel Tower. You can find two restaurants on the Eiffel Tower, both of which offer delicious food and fantastic views of Paris.

The most famous one is Jules Vernes , located on the tower’s second floor. This restaurant offers a more casual “a la carte” lunch menu and five and seven-course dinner tasting menus. Coming up here isn’t cheap, but what’s more romantic than sitting on the Eiffel Tower while enjoying French food and a view of Paris?

One floor lower, on the Eiffel Tower’s first floor, you can find Madame Brasserie . This restaurant is slightly more casual than Jules Verne, and a bit more affordable, though don’t let that fool you. The food is delicious, and the service is excellent.

If you want to splurge on dinner on top of the Eiffel Tower, make sure to book your table well in advance. We were lucky and secured a spot in Madame Brasserie one week in advance, but especially in high season, that’s the exception. And Jules Vernes can book out months in advance.

Your dinner reservation includes an elevator ticket to the restaurant so you can visit the Eiffel Tower afterwards.

30. Michelin-Star Dining

Contributed by Christine Rogador from Journey To France

Dining in a fancy or Michelin-rated restaurant is one of the most indulgent experiences a couple can have in Paris. These restaurants offer a combination of exquisite cuisine, elegant and intimate ambience, and impeccable service, making them the perfect setting for a special evening with a loved one.

Two of the best fancy restaurants in Paris for couples are Baieta in the 5th arrondissement and Les Comptoir des Petit Champs near Palais de Royale.

Baieta is owned by Chef Julia Sedefdjian, the youngest chef in France to receive one star from Michelin in 2016 at the age of 21. This Michelin-rated restaurant in Paris offers a modern take on Mediterranean cuisine. They offer a tasting menu with a big emphasis on Southern French coast’ produce.

Les Comptoir des Petits Champs , on the other hand, is one of the best-rated restaurants in Gault & Millau – another popular and highly respected restaurant guide in France. Just like in Michelin, a restaurant can’t be in Gault & Millau if it’s not exceptional. It is also cheaper than Baieta. The restaurant is located just behind Palais de Royale and offers a cosy and intimate atmosphere with a menu that features classic French and fusion dishes made with high-quality ingredients. The best part? They often change their menu so each visit can be a unique experience.

Being both popular and good, needless to say, prepare to pay between $150-$500 for 2 people. You also have to book in advance: Les Comptoir can be booked a few days in advance but expect a longer wait for Baieta. It took us a couple of weeks and it was for 10:30 pm.

Tip: If you choose Les Comptoir, take a romantic walk to the garden of Palais de Royale after dinner. Then continue to the Louvre and enter the tunnel-like arch. If you’re lucky you might get serenaded by a violinist and this is also the best time to enjoy a romantic evening in the Louvre without the crowd.

31. Take A Champagne Tour

Contributed by Megan from Megan Starr

Did you know the Champagne region of France is extremely close to Paris? A romantic day spent together touring vineyards, wandering through cool cellars, and tasting different types of champagne makes  Champagne country the perfect day trip from Paris .

tray of champagne flutes filled with champagne

Reims and Epernay are the two towns most famous for their Champagne houses. You can visit producers, sample different Champagnes, and do some shopping.

If you take a day trip to Reims , also check out the incredible cathedral, and if you visit Epernay, make sure to stroll down the Avenue de Champagne. But don’t limit your day to just seeing a town; head out to some of the rolling vineyards of the region, where you can get a tour and a tasting. Whether on the Avenue de Champagne or in the countryside, you can visit both world-famous brands and small family-run businesses. Some favourites include Dom Perignon, Moët & Chandon, Mercier, and Veuve Clicquot.

A great option for this type of trip is to join either a small group tour or take a private tour. Many tours are round trip from Paris so you won’t have to worry about transportation. Another advantage of a tour is the expert guide, who knows the best places and offers fascinating information about the region and Champagne-making processes.

To remember your special day together, don’t forget to buy a bottle of your favourite Champagne you tasted to pop on a special occasion.

Where To Stay In Paris For Romance

Splash out on a romantic hotel.

Your accommodations can have a huge impact on your couple’s trip to Paris. Some people go for a low-cost approach choosing to spend their travel budget on other experiences, but if you are looking to have a more comfortable and romantic getaway to Paris, consider splurging on a romantic hotel.

Imagine going back to your hotel at night with a view of the sparkling Eiffel Tower and a glass of champagne starting your day on your private balcony with breakfast sent to your room. These are just a few examples of hotel features you can enjoy by splurging a bit for a more romantic getaway.  Both the Peninsula Hotel  and Hotel Regina Louvre offer this five-star level of luxury.

Spending more on your hotel room will make you feel a different level of comfort helping to ensure you are well-rested. This enhances the rest of the experiences of your trip. Additionally, more luxury hotels come with amenities you can enjoy. For example, Maison Bréguet has a pool on the bottom level with steam rooms and a sauna your body will appreciate after exploring the streets of Paris for the day.

One great benefit to a luxury hotel in Paris is the breakfast that is included at many hotels. By starting the day with breakfast at the hotel you are setting yourself up for a great day ahead. Whether you are on a  honeymoon in France  or just a quick getaway, splurging on a hotel can upgrade your entire experience.

‘Love Trip Paris’ Brings Inclusivity and Diversity To Reality Dating Shows

'Love Trip: Paris' is a reality dating show that viewers have never seen before.

Reality television has always had a place, but it feels like it's in its prime right now, specifically when it comes to dating reality shows. Over time, the subgenre has reinvented itself, with new models like Love Is Blind and Too Hot To Handle that show different approaches to building a lasting connection. The former tries to prove looks aren't important, and that it's what connection you build that dictates relationship success. The latter takes really attractive people and restricts them from hooking up with each other in the hopes they'll form real connections. These two -- plus shows like The Bachelor , 90 Day Fiancé , and Love Island -- are fantastic. They bring a little drama into our lives, watching the story of complete strangers falling in love over and over again. While dating shows have worked, they've also become monotonous.

Until the recent shows mentioned, the formula has become repetitive and predictable. A lot of them have the same recipe: a man dates multiple women and picks a winner, or vice versa. It's not at all reflective of the progressive society we mostly reside in currently. Dating is no longer black and white. And as entertaining as it can be, the reality dating world is lacking a huge community of people. That's where Love Trip: Paris comes in, and holy crêpe it is juicy, addicting, and inclusive.

A breath of fresh paris air.

Love Trip: Paris is a Freeform original that also streams on Hulu . The premise of the show chronicles four American women who travel across the pond to meet some French suitors. Reality tv has always been criticized for the lack of diversity in sexuality, race, and gender expression. Love Trip: Paris breaks those barriers. It is a basic tale of a bunch of singles living in a house together, reminiscent of The Real World , and entirely subverts all expectations by not following strict heteronormativity. Three of the four women in the show are queer, and the suitors -- as well as the love seekers --- are from different backgrounds and races.

Many in the queer community are desperately seeking representation in love and relationships in popular media and struggle to find that. In an interview with ABC News as reported by GMA , one of the cast members, Josielyn Aguilera, opened up about her hopes that the show would break the mold in how reality dating shows look moving forward. "I hope that this really breaks that glass ceiling, of letting other shows like this exist," she said. "I hope this really breaks that and we get to start seeing more like LGBT people fall in love and more people of color fall in love -- more people in general just fall in love."

An Inclusive and Diverse Show That Could Set a New Trend

Having a show that is so open to inclusivity and diversity for all can allow those cast members to shine and be themselves, which will make it easier to fall in love with themselves as well as with those they're courting in the hopes of a true connection. The show features an elimination each week in which the four women decide who stays and who goes. Each week, a new suitor is brought in to switch things up. Among the suitors, there are lesbians, bisexual men, bisexual women, and people of color to make sure that everyone has a shot at love and possibly even discovering something they weren't sure they liked.

Audiences get to see a diverse cast with sexual and racial representation that isn’t normally seen on a dating show, and it's refreshing, to say the least. This could be the start of more shows bridging the gap and showing that society has progressed to representation and acceptance, and it seems as if it has.

Netflix has announced The Ultimatum: Queer Love will debut on the streaming platform on May 24. The second season will feature five LGBTQ+ couples that are trying to figure out if their relationship is forever or for just a moment. Queer Love is the second installment of The Ultimatum reality dating show and is the first that is entirely LGBTQ+ focused. The premise of the show is that one half of the partnership is ready for marriage and to settle down, and the other isn't quite there yet.

Queer Love, as well as Love Trip: Paris, are exciting developments for the queer community as the representation is the entire basis of the show. There is a diligent effort made to include all letters of the LGBTQ+ alphabet family and opens the door for other shows to take point. While there have been other reality shows that will have one or two queer contestants, it always seems like an afterthought or a way to invoke drama. All in all, there's more space for LGBTQ+-friendly shows, and reality tv fans are excited to see more shows like Love Trip: Paris popping up.

Most Romantic Things to do in Paris

This list of things to do in Paris for couples includes a little bit of everything from just walking the streets of Paris, indulging in French cuisine, and goofing around together to romantic places in Paris for couples not to miss!

1. Picnic Under the Eiffel Tower

Picnicking under the Eiffel tower is one of the most romantic things to do in Paris

One of the romantic things to do in Paris is to go picnicking since Paris is known for having beautiful parks and gardens that are perfect for that!

But even though there are so many parks, there is nothing more romantic than picnicking right under the glorious Eiffel Tower in Champs de Mars (the park where the Eiffel Tower sits).

So, organize your favorite picnic delicacies or book yourself an already-made picnic basket from some popular cafes and treat your loved one to a romantic date in Paris.

However, if you don’t know how to plan a picnic, you can check out my previous post on planning a perfect picnic in Paris to know everything you might need.

Pro tip* On top of the Eiffel Tower, there are so many other beautiful Parisian parks where you can picnic including the banks of the Seine , Parc Monceau , Tuileries Park (which is next to the Louvre Museum), Parc des Buttes-Chaumont and so many other Parks.

There is nothing more romantic in Paris than taking an evening cruise on the Seine! With the breeze, shimmering lights from the famous French landmarks to a romantic dinner, a Seine cruise is bound to bring you even closer to your loved one.

And while on the cruise, you’ll also be able to watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle for 5 minutes every top of the hour! So take in the stunning views, enjoy the food and the wine, and say “Je t’aime” to your loved one as you enjoy the city of love.

Pro tip* There are so many cruises on the Seine but this dinner seine cruise is what I recommend if you want to have the best time of your life with your loved one.

Alternatively, you can choose to go for an afternoon seine cruise if you want to take in the views during the broad daylight. But make sure you don’t forget to book your afternoon Seine cruise here .

So whether you’re in Paris for one day or for a 2-day weekend , cruising the Seine is one of the most romantic activities in Paris.

3. Plan a Couple’s Photoshoot at The Major Paris Attractions

Planning a Couple's Photoshoot is one of the things to do in Paris for couples

One of the things to do in Paris for couples is to go on a couple’s photoshoot with a professional photographer! I mean there is no better way to keep memories of your romantic trip to Paris than through photos.

So book a professional photographer in Paris who will take you to all the major photo spots in Paris where you can goof around while making lovely poses with your significant other.

This personal Paris couple photographer is highly recommended when it comes to taking couples’ photos and even if you’re photo-shy like me or have zero posing skills (still me), you can be sure that this photographer will direct you on how best to pose to come out with cool photos!

On top of that, he will suggest some cool places to take pics from but if you have places you prefer, he’ll still go be there.

5. Take Leisurely Strolls in The City at Night

Taking leisurely strolls in the city at night is one of the romantic things to do in Paris

One of the best things for couples to do in Paris at night is to take leisurely strolls in the city! I mean Paris is beautiful but it becomes even more magical at night!

Imagine walking down a pretty street hand-in-hand with your significant other with all the city lights on! It can’t get any better than this! And the best part is that it’s totally free, so you get to enjoy a romantic moment in Paris without spending a dime.

6. Go on a Wine Tasting tour

me wine tasting in Paris

France is famously known for its high-quality wine and there is no way you can visit the French capital and not go on a wine-tasting tour especially if you are wine lovers.

Some of the best wine tasting tours in Paris you can go for include this one if you want to have a fun and casual tasting but if you also want a deeper understanding of wine from various wine regions in France, then this wine tasting tour is best suited for you.

Going on a Wine Tasting tour is one of the things for couples to do in Paris

And if you love tasting wine backed with history, then this wine tasting tour will take you to a historical 18th-century wine cellar in Paris that was once used by the King of France. You’ll taste wine, and learn the entire process of winemaking while walking through the footprints of a royal.

However, if you want to go back to the grassroots and visit the vineyards, unfortunately, Paris (the city) no longer has any but you can still experience this romantic activity by going on this wine-tasting guided day trip to Champagne .

7. Check Into a Hotel With an Eiffel Tower View

Shangri-La Paris is one of the Best Hotels with Eiffel Tower View in Paris

Waking up to the views of the Eiffel Tower is, in my opinion, the most romantic thing to do in Paris!

And luckily for you, there are a number of hotels in Paris with Eiffel Tower views whereby stepping out of the room to the balcony or through the well-framed windows will give you stunning views of the Iron Lady.

So why not treat yourself and your loved one to a romantic stay by booking a room with an Eiffel Tower view?

Some of the hotels you can book for a romantic night with your loved one include Hôtel Eiffel Petit Louvre for budget travelers, Le Metropolitan Hotel for mid-range travelers, or this luxurious hotel if you want the utmost best and can afford it!

8. Have a Dinner Date at One of The Fancy Restaurants

Having a Dinner Date at One of The Fancy Restaurants is one of the most romantic things to do in Paris

Going for a dinner date is literally the most classic romantic thing to do and it’s no different even in Paris!

The only difference is that you’ll be able to taste the world-renown French cuisine at some of Paris’ prettiest restaurants.

And to make it grander, book at one of the restaurants with an Eiffel Tower view , or better yet book at one right at the Eiffel Tower herself or one of these Michelin-starred restaurants in Paris ! Taste Paris’ favorite foods while saying sweet nothings to each other!

Pro tip* Paris cafes and restaurants are usually booked out, especially the fancy ones! So if you plan to dine at one of the popular restaurants like the ones at the Eiffel Tower, you have to book way in advance — even up to 3 months before your dinner date otherwise, you might fail to get a reservation.

9. Watch a Beautiful sunset

Shopping and watching a sunset at Galerie Lafayette is one of the things to do while in Paris for a weekend

Sunsets are synonymous with romance! And while some people prefer sunsets on the beach, sunsets with a view of the Eiffel Tower cannot be matched!

There are so many places to catch a beautiful sunset in Paris but the most notable ones include the banks of the Seine , the Montparnasse Tower , the Sacré-Cœur , and so many other places.

So if you’re looking for romantic things to do in Paris on a budget, then watching a sunset is one of them.

Psst… If you prefer sunrises to sunsets, then you can check out my detailed list of sunrise spots in Paris .

10. Watch the Eiffel Tower Sparkle

Watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle is one of the romantic things in Paris to do

One of the most romantic things to do in Paris at night is to watch the Eiffel Tower shimmer!

The Iron Lady might be amazing to look at at any time but it gets even more magical at night when it sparkles in sheer glory at every top of the hour for 5 minutes.

So what better way to enjoy this beautiful display of lights than with your loved one? You can view the Eiffel Tower shimmer up close by going to Champs de Mars , see the reflection of its lights by watching in on the Seine banks, or watch it from the observation deck of the Arc de Triomphe .

Pro tip* To be able to take in the glistening lights of the Eiffel Tower from the Arc de Triomphe, you’ll need to purchase this Arc de Triomphe entry ticket before you go to avoid wasting time in queues.

11. Watch a Cabaret Show

Watching a cabaret show at the Moulin Rouge is one of the Paris bucket list things to do

One of the most romantic couple things to do in Paris is to watch a cabaret show!

With a night of great entertainment from beautifully dressed dancers, singers, drag shows, burlesque shows, stripteases, one-man shows, or just a solo pianist, you can be assured of a great romantic night with your loved one.

And it’s not just watching the dancers, you’ll be treated to a fancy French dinner with champagne/wine to complete the fun night.

The most famous place to watch the Cabaret show in Paris is at the Moulin Rouge but since it can be a bit pricey and sometimes booked out, you can opt for the equally fun cabarets like Crazy Horse Cabaret or Paradis Latin.

But as you plan to attend the show, know that they fill up fast especially the one at Moulin Rouge so you’ll need to book your tickets in advance!

You can book a spot at the Moulin Rouge from here but if you prefer other places, then you can book one at Crazy Horse here or the one at Le Paradis Latin Cabaret from here .

But if you want to spend an electric and fun evening with your partner, I highly recommend going to the Moulin Rouge.

12. Stroll the Banks of the Seine

Strolling the banks of Seine River is one of the romantic things to do in Paris

Let’s be honest, Paris is a romantic city that even just walking down the streets with your loved one feels romantic but strolling the Seine banks is even more romantic.

With the cool breeze blowing your hair away as you point to some of the incredible architecture of Paris or even gaze at people who might be cruising the Seine, you’re bound to get those exciting feelings of love that can only be felt by the 2 of you.

Though walking down the Seine is exciting at any time of the day, it’s even more impressive at the golden hour as the sun sets over it!

And if you can stay till night, you’ll be greeted with beautiful shimmering lights from the Eiffel Tower as it sparkles at every top of the hour on top of enjoying the bright lights from all the famous buildings around the Seine.

So if you’re looking for free things for couples to do in Paris, taking a leisurely stroll along the Seine banks is one of them.

13. Learn How to Bake Macarons

Learning how to bake Macarons is one of the most romantic things to do in Paris

Macarons are some of the best Parisian desserts that you must try while in the French capital! And why just eat them when you can learn how to bake them yourselves?

And actually, learning how to Macarons is a piece of France that you’ll take back with you when you return home.

So if you’re a couple that loves being in the kitchen or even if cooking is not your thing but you just want to try out something new, then learning to bake macarons with a professional baker is one of the romantic things to do in Paris.

There are so many places in Paris where you can learn to bake Macarons with a professional but the one I recommend is this one as you not only learn how to make them but the chef will give you a detailed recipe so that you can recreate them when you go back home.

14. Go on a Pastry Tasting Tour

best desserts paris

If learning how to bake macarons is not your thing, then you can opt for a pastry tour and taste some of the most delicious pastries in the city, after all, Paris and France, in general, are known for having some of the most delicious pastries in the world.

From my personal favorite the Fraisier , Tarte au fraise , Mille Feuilles a la Fraise , Cardinal , the famous Croissant to various pastries that come in different shapes and flavors, there are so many pastries in Paris that any couple with a sweet tooth will love.

To go on a pastry tour, you can DIY by listing down the pastries you want to try and choosing bakeries you’ll go to for those specific pastries, and make your own pastry tour itinerary.

However, this might take a bit of time to research the best bakeries in Paris and what pastries they’re famous for!

Or you can make it as spontaneous as possible by just popping in any bakery and asking for what you want since there is literally a bakery on every turn you make in Paris.

But if you want an organized tour with a local professional guide that will take you to the best bakeries that sell the specific pastries you want (or even suggest the must-try ones), then I recommend going for this guided pastry tour .

15. Watch an Opera at Palais Garnier

Palais Garnier is one of the places to visit on your weekend in Paris trip

Palais Garnier is the most beautiful and popular Opera house in Paris and it would be a shame not to visit while on a couple’s getaway in Paris. So if you’re a couple that loves Opera music, this is one of the most romantic activities in Paris not to miss.

Actually, even if you’re not into Opera music, I still think you should visit the Opera not to watch the show but rather to admire the beautiful architecture and decor that dazzle in shimmer.

From the outside, the architecture is impressive but when you step foot inside, you’ll be welcomed by a masterpiece that drips in gold and the beauty will leave you in awe.

If you want to watch a show, you’ll need to check on the official website to see when shows will be conducted but if you just want to visit to admire its beauty, you can go on a self-guided tour by buying this skip the line ticket and if you want to get in-depth knowledge and learn the history about it, then I recommend taking this guided tour with a friendly professional tour guide.

16. Explore Art at Louvre Museum

Visiting the louvre museum should be added to your Paris weekend itinerary

Going to a museum might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of romance in Paris but the Louvre museum is an exception, especially for couples that love art.

With over 38,000 objects on display, the Louvre is the largest art museum in the world and one of the most visited landmarks in Europe that you shouldn’t miss.

And because of its grandeur, I recommend putting aside at least one full afternoon or a couple of hours to be able to see at least a bit of it since it’s impossible to see everything in one visit.

Since the Louvre receives thousands of visitors daily, you can be sure to find queues but the best way to skip the lines is to buy yourself this skip-the-line ticket .

You can visit on your own but the best way to see the Louvre or at least not get overwhelmed by everything and to know where to go, (I know I was on my first visit), I recommend booking this Louvre guide tour with a knowledgeable tour guide that won’t only tell you all you need to know about the art in the museum but also guide you to the must-see sculptures and paintings in the museum.

17. Enjoy the Charms of Montmartre

Exploring Montmartre streets is one of the things to do on your weekend in Paris

Looking for what to do in Paris as a couple, then head to Montmartre. Perched on a hill, Montmartre is the most charming neighborhood in Paris in my opinion!

With cute cafes and pretty streets on every turn, Montmartre offers a lot that cannot be imagined except when exploring it.

From a vibrant lifestyle to the artistic charm that can be seen all around the city, Montmartre is one of the most romantic places in Paris.

The fun part about exploring Montmartre is having both of you painted by one of the many artists in Montmartre whose stalls welcome you in this hilly district.

Honestly, you can’t ask for a better souvenir from Paris than a painting with your loved one.

Other than the painting, there are so many things to do in Montmartre like taking in the views from the Sacré-Cœur , enjoying ice cream at popular ice cream shops, or even just strolling the charming streets as you explore the artistic side of Paris.

While you can visit this charming Parisian neighborhood on your own, you can opt to go on a guided tour with a knowledgeable guide to take you through all the famous and hidden gems of Montmartre.

If that’s your gem, then this walking guided tour of Montmartre is what I recommend.

18. Say I Love You to Each Other at the I Love You Wall

Visiting the i love you wall is one of the romantic things to do in Paris

Paris wouldn’t be called the city of love without a love-themed 40 square meters wall that says I love you 311 times in 250 languages.

So as you enjoy the charms of Montmartre, be sure to stop at Jehan Rictus Garden Square to tell each other “I love you” in those many languages.

To make it even more enjoyable, try guessing which languages those might be as you Google the correct answers! It might seem like a simple thing but it’s actually one of the most romantic things to do in Paris.

19. Cruise on the Lakes in Bois de Boulogne

Cruising on Bois de Boulogne Park is one of the romantic things to do in Paris

For couples that want to opt for non-touristy things in Paris and connect with nature while still staying in the heart of the city, heading to Bois de Boulogne Parc in the 16th arrondissement of Paris will give you that quality time with your loved one.

Bois de Boulogne which is commonly known as the left lung of Paris is an enormous tranquil public park with a number of lakes, beautiful botanical gardens, a waterfall, 2 Michelin-starred restaurants, and a Hippodrome horse racing track which makes for a perfect escape from the busy life of Paris.

You can choose to just chill in the park and explore the beautiful botanical gardens but the best way to enjoy a romantic trip in Paris in Bois de Boulogne Parc is by renting a boat and cruising on one of its lakes.

You can opt for hiring a private boat and cruise on your own while enjoying the serenity that comes with it as you also appreciate the beautiful views or you can hire a boat and its sailor so that you enjoy the cruise with no hustles of rowling it yourselves.

But regardless of what you choose to do, cruising on the lakes in Bois de Boulogne Parc is one of the romantic things for couples to do in Paris.

20. Ride in a Vintage Citroen 2CV

Riding in a Vintage Citroen 2CV is one of the most romantic things to do in Paris

There is no better way to enjoy a romantic night in Paris than riding in the famous vintage Citroen 2VC.

On this vintage tour, you’ll be driven around Paris’ famous landmarks like Place Concorde , Arc de Triomphe , Les Invalides , Pont Alexandre III , and the Eiffel Tower to see the city from a different perspective as you sip on champagne en route.

This drive usually lasts from 1 hour to 2 hours depending on what you prefer! There are also a number of tours to book but the one I highly recommend is this romantic one .

21. Ride in a Hot Air Balloon With Your Loved One

Parc André Citroën is one of the best parks in Paris.

If you’re looking for a fun way to spend a romantic weekend in Paris, then nothing beats riding in a hot air Balloon.

Not many people know that this activity is possible but it sure is doable in Pars! Imagine you and your loved one up in the air, taking in all the stunning views over Paris. It can’t get any more romantic than this.

Though fun and thrilling, there are just a few companies that offer this activity, so I recommend going for this Hot Air Balloon ride over Fontainebleau Chateau for an amazing time! It’s a bit pricey but no date in Paris comes close to being as thrilling and fun as this one.

22. Explore Musée de la Vie Romantique

Musée de la Vie Romantique is one of the best free Paris museums.

Paris is the city of love and there is no better way to prove that the city lives up to its nickname than having a museum dedicated to love and romance.

Located in Pigalle, the Museum of Romantic Life, or Museum of the Romantics houses various literature related to romance, romantic canvases, and sculptures that will inspire you and your loved one to have a deeper conversation about love.

So, if you are looking for things to do in Paris as a couple, exploring this museum is definitely one of them. The best part is that it is one of the free museums in Paris so you won’t spend a single dime.

23. Book a Couple’s Massage in Absolute Darkness

Going for a massage in absolute darkness is one of the most romantc things to do in Paris for couples

While a massage may seem like an ordinary couple’s activity (which it is indeed), but not this kind of massage.

This massage strictly happens in absolute darkness so you can let go of all your insecurities, be guided by professionals, and enjoy something unique.

With soothing music, and relaxing massages with your partner right there with you, there is nothing more interesting on a Paris romantic getaway than being pampered in absolute darkness.

However, if this doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, you can still opt for the usual massages at either a spa or a hammam.

24. Re-proclaim your Love at Pont Des Arts

Being home to Pont des Arts makes Paris a city of love.

For many years, Pont des Arts , or Love Lock Bridge as commonly known has been a famous stop for couples in Paris to attach locks to it as a sign of locking their love and throwing away the key into the river as a sign of eternal love.

However, due to structural hazards caused by the weight of the locks, the bridge couldn’t sustain it anymore and it’s no longer allowed to add new locks.

But even with that, Pont des Arts is still very much a place that celebrates love, and visiting it with your loved one is still one of the cool Paris couple activities.

You can kiss and re-proclaim your love for each other and take photos of this love monument in Paris.

25. Bike on the Banks of the Seine

Guided Night Bike Tour of Paris

We’ve already looked at strolling along the Seine but another fun activity in Paris for lovers is biking along the River’s banks.

All you have to do is to book a bike from the many bike rental stations, choose where on the Seine you’d like to bike and you’ll have a memorable and romantic time with your loved one.

So, if you’re looking for fun things to do in Paris for couples that don’t put a strain on your budget in this rather expensive city, this is one not to miss.

26. Ride in a sidecar of a vintage motorbike

View this post on Instagram A post shared by 𝖱𝖤𝖳𝖱𝖮 𝖳𝖮𝖴𝖱 𝖯𝖠𝖱𝖨𝖲 (@retro_tour_paris)

Romantic dates in Paris don’t have to be boring or just a meal at a restaurant! For the adventurous heart, you’ll love this new trend that is popping up in Paris! Riding on a Sidecar motorbike .

On this guided ride , your tour guide/driver will take you around the famous and hidden attractions of the city while giving you facts and useful insights whilst you sit comfortably in the 3-wheeled vintage sidecar motorbike.

And if you want to make your experience even more magical, you can select the romantic night sidecar ride option where you’ll see the city illuminated and end your ride kissing and toasting with glasses of champagne in front of the Eiffel Tower with your loved one. This is no doubt one of the most fun tours in Paris for couples.

27. Go For a Romantic Dinner on Wheels

Dinner at Restaurant Bus Toqué Paris is one of the most romantic things to do in Paris.

While a Seine Dinner Cruise and a dinner date at a normal restaurant are super cool ideas for activities to do in Paris for couples, another idea that is beyond the ordinary is going to a restaurant on wheels with Restaurant Bus Toqué Paris .

I went to this restaurant and I had an absolutely amazing time! The bus is perfectly designed to look like an actual restaurant, except that you’ll be driven around while enjoying a 5-course meal with a glass of wine for each course. The food was absolutely delicious and the wine paired well with everything!

You’ll also have a front-row view of all the major landmarks of Paris including the Louvre museum, Seine River, Place de la Concorde, and more, and then end at the Eiffel Tower exactly when it’s shimmering at the top of the hour.

The bus also offers a video guide that you can use to learn about the popular places you see along the way, but you might not even use it as you’ll be focused on your partner, the food, and the views.

28. Drink Champagne on Top of the Eiffel Tower

One of the best places to visit in Paris for couples or anyone for that matter, is no doubt the Eiffel Tower!

Of course, you can climb it just to admire the views of the city but if you want to elevate your experience as a couple, go to the Champagne Bar to enjoy Champagne while taking in the beauty of Paris from above.

This bar books out fast so I recommend checking their website to reserve your spot in time!

29. Make Your Own Perfume

Learning how to Make Your Very Own Perfume is one of the best activities in Paris for teenagers.

If you’re looking for fun date ideas in Paris, then you can’t go wrong with making your own perfume.

Yes, there are many good perfume brands in France , but just going to a store and buying one is not as memorable as creating your own.

By signing up for this perfume-making workshop , you’ll be able to make Eau de Toilette by selecting scents that represent you individually or even as a couple while being guided by a professional. You’ll be able to take back home your own creation!

You’ll also learn how perfume is made, some history about the perfume industry, and also get to visit the Fragonard Perfume Museum .

30. Indulge in French Food on a Food Walking Tour

Croissant is one of the traditional French breakfast foods.

France is famous for its gastronomy and there is no better way to learn more about it or even taste some of its famous foods than on a food tour! If you’re looking for romantic things in Paris, this is definitely it.

There are many food tours in Paris, mostly in various neighborhoods but what stands out the most is this Montmartre food walking tour .

You’ll be able to taste various French wines, cheeses, pastries, and charcuterie while learning about their history, some fun facts, and taking in the beauty of Montmartre.

30 Ultimate Romantic Getaways for Couples

One great way to strengthen relationships is to plan romantic getaways for couples around the world.

If you have ever studied the 5 Love Languages , you may know that some people give and receive love through quality time together. Planning romantic getaways fills that love language, but you can also argue that getaways for couples could fill ALL FIVE of them :

  • Quality time together - Taking a trip together
  • Acts of service - Giving your sweetheart a massage while on vacation
  • Giving and receiving gifts - Surprising your special someone with a romantic getaway
  • Words of affirmation - "Wow, sweetheart. Getting away really was the best idea!"
  • Physical touch - Holding hands as you walk along the beach at sunset

Would you agree that there are just some destinations that lend themselves to romance? Does Paris, the "City of Love" , immediately pop into mind? Perhaps it is beach retreats and adventures where no shoes (or shirt) are required.

Or maybe you're thinking along the lines of gondolas and canals in Venice , one of the many romantic european cities—perfect if you are planning a honeymoon, babymoon, or an epic milestone anniversary trip.

All destinations become MORE romantic because you are with the person you love to travel with the most.

Romantic Getaways for Couples Strengthen Your Relationship

In a study compiled by the US Travel Association , they found that couples who travel together are "significantly more likely to be satisfied in their relationships, communicate well with their partners, enjoy more romance...spend quality time together and share common goals and desires."

Not only that, but there are long-term benefits for couples who visit dream travel destinations around the world. Travel helps to build and maintain your relationship AND spark romance.

Ro·mance (n) - a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love. A quality or feeling of mystery, excitement, and remoteness from everyday life. Google

Keeping the romance alive takes effort, inspirational ideas, time together, and creativity. I love how Google defines romance as a "remoteness from everyday life" .

Whether you are planning a babymoon, your honeymoon, an anniversary getaway, or a "Just Because" weekend together, finding that " remoteness from everyday life" can be discovered at charming romantic European cities or beach retreats —dream travel destinations for couples all over the world .

Plus, there is something about planning and taking a trip with YOUR SOMEONE that adds anticipation and a little extra spice to life. Who else's shoulder can you get away with sleeping on during an 8-hour flight?

Tips for Choosing Romantic Getaways for Couples

When you begin to plan your couple's getaway, give some thought to the destinations on your couples bucket list (or maybe you need to sit down together and brainstorm ideas for your bucket list).

Have you been saving ideas to a Couples Bucket List board on Pinterest?

Considerations on choosing your romantic getaways :

  • What is your budget?
  • How much time do you have? If it is just a weekend, maybe consider destinations close to home. If you have one to two weeks, consider romantic European cities.
  • Will you have to recover from jet lag?
  • What type of weather or experience are you hoping to have, ie., relaxation at the beach or hiking in the mountains or skiing in Switzerland?
  • If you have children at home, can you get someone to watch them?
  • Obviously you will want to check for flight and hotel availability.

The most romantic hotels Chris and I stay aren't always ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ accommodations; our getaways as a couple are memorable because of the time away together.

Tips for Choosing A Place to Stay for Romantic Getaways

Whether you are using reward points to plan your accommodations,  booking a hotel room , or planning a stay at a vacation rental, here are a few questions to consider—especially if your romantic getaway will last longer than a week:

  • Is breakfast included?
  • Are your accommodations close to the main tourist areas?
  • Will you need to rent a car? Is parking included?
  • Are you staying within your budget?
  • Will you need to do laundry?
  • Are you interested in making your own meals?
  • How many flights of stairs will you have to climb to reach your accommodation (in Europe the first floor is actually on the second level)?
  • Is there an elevator in the building?
  • Is A/C mentioned in the rental listing? If not, it likely is not included. Is that important?
  • Are your accommodations in a safe part of the city?
  • Have you checked the cancellation policies for all of your lodgings?

Be sure to read the reviews and do your research to see what previous guests have to say about the accommodations.
