moe. announces 16-date fall tour, hitting Baltimore, Minneapolis and all points in between

Article contributed by jbleicher.com | published on tuesday, june 20, 2023.

moe fall tour

As they wind their way across the Midwest this month, with a 2-night run at Pine Creek Lodge in Livingston, MT coming up this weekend, moe. has announced that it will return to the road this fall for another 16-date US tour, which will bring them from Baltimore to Minneapolis and all points in between. Kicking off at Rams Head Live in Baltimore, MD on Thursday, September 14th, the tour will stop at iconic theaters across the country, from the Vic Theatre in Chicago, IL on September 22nd to the Pageant in St. Louis, MO on October 4th, before culminating at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, KS on Saturday, October 7th. A special artist pre-sale will begin tomorrow, Wednesday, June 21st at 10am local time using the password RECCHEM – click here for more information. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, June 23rd at 10am local time. For ticketing and show info, please visit https://moe.org/tour   The announcement of moe.’s fall tour follows a busy few weeks for the band, which included an epic 2-night run at the Saranac Brewery in Utica, NY, a performance a Meow Wolf in Santa Fe, NM, and a 2-night run with Umphrey’s McGee at the beautiful Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO. This season also included a poignant stop at the Summer Camp Music Festival, which moe. has performed at every year since its inception in 2001, as the festival announced that it will be taking a hiatus in its current form beginning next year. The band closed out the weekend with their third-ever performance of Blind Melon’s “No Rain” and a powerful rendition of “Buster.” The upcoming summer tour will culminate with a 2-night run at Music Box at the Borgata in Atlantic City, NJ on August 4th-5th, marking the band’s first appearances in the city since before the pandemic in February 2020.   moe. has been receiving rave reviews throughout the year, following the return of guitarist Chuck Garvey to the road after his recovery from a stroke, as well as the permanent addition of keyboardist Nate Wilson. Live For Live Music reports, "Recent tours have seen Wilson revitalize the band’s touring catalog as he looks for places to fit himself into the well-established mix, adding long breathy chords that add emotional weight to classics and new covers.” Grateful Web added, “moe. is back and playing better than ever.”   moe. is a one-of-a-kind band that has never been easily categorized. Their sonic adventurousness and tongue-in-cheek humor are distinctly and undeniably their own. Praised by American Songwriter for their “mind-bending musicality,” moe. is treasured for their mesmerizing musical synergy, unfettered showmanship, and smart, resonant songcraft.   moe.’s longevity is no doubt due to the family spirit shared between its members and its engaged fanbase, the Famoe.ly, a bond that has been fortified through decades on the road. moe. has performed innumerable headline tours, international festival sets, music-themed cruises, and sold-out shows alongside countless household-name artists. They’ve also promoted and headlined multiple festivals of their own, including snoe.down and moe.down. The band’s vibrant blend of inventive musicality and genre-blurring is on full display on two recent releases, their 12th studio album, 'This Is Not, We Are,' and the 'Not Normal' EP.

moe. is Al Schnier (guitar, vocals) * Chuck Garvey (guitar, vocals) * Rob Derhak (bass, vocals) * Jim Loughlin (percussion, vibes) * Vinnie Amico (drums) * Nate Wilson (keys)

Starting almost an hour late for a standing room only show was disrespectful to the audience. I love the music but I'm not paying just to stand around in a bar for hours. Very disappointed! The music was fantastic as always.

moe. Adds 2023 Winter Tour Dates

Kevin Johnson

moe. has announced a new round of winter tour dates. The extra fourteen dates will take the jam rock band’s previously announced run well into March.

Their current itinerary starts with a New Year’s gig at the Fillmore in Philadelphia. In January, they will have a weekend spanning New York, D.C., and New Jersey before picking things up again in February. They’ll then go all the way from Maine to Florida over the next month, wrapping things up with a pair of dates at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 24th and 25th.

moe. is anchored by bassist Rob Derhak , who also takes the front of the stage. Check out this performance of “Brent Black” from the Summer Camp Music Festival in 2018. (The song begins around the 5:42 mark after an extended drum solo.)

The run of seven new concerts in three states and the District of Columbia will arrive after the founding guitarist performs with his band as a “special guest” at The Fillmore . Beyond the significance of Garvey’s first public performance since suffering a stroke last November , The Fillmore holds added meaning as moe.’s 2021 Halloween show there marked Chuck’s last concert. moe. announced Garvey’s presence earlier this month at the culmination of a three-night run at Boulder, CO’s Fox Theatre  but did not elaborate on the extent of his involvement.

“The band has yet to announce plans for Chuck to return to the band on a full-time basis following his sit-in on NYE,” a press release noted.

The newly announced moe. tour dates lean heavily on the Northeast, beginning on January 19th at  The Paramount  in Huntington, NY. The band—which in Garvey’s absence is aided by guitarist  Michael “Suke” Cerulo and keyboardist Nate Wilson —will then visit our nation’s capital for a gig at  9:30 Club  (1/20) before retreating north to the  Wellmont Theater  in Montclair, NJ (1/21).

After a month off, the tour will resume with a two-night run at Portland, ME’s  State Theatre  (2/17–18) before culminating at the Palace Theatre in Albany, NY (2/24–25). The first performance will coincide with moe. Day in Albany, an officially-recognized local holiday since 2018.

Tickets for the newly announced moe. winter 2023 tour dates go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. local time.

The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating a deadly car crash that occurred outside of the band Moe.’s New Year’s Eve show at the Kodak Center in Rochester, NY.

Authorities began looking into the incident as a possible domestic terror attack. However, Rochester police have since confirmed they did not uncover any information indicating the suspect was motivated by political or social upset, per CNN.

During the early hours of Jan. 1, an SUV filled with gasoline canisters crashed into a group of people congregating outside the venue, killing two people and injuring another five. The suspect, a Syracuse resident called Michael Avery, has died.

Members of the band Moe. responded via social media with a statement on the morning of Jan. 1 that shared they were in a state of “profound shock and sadness,” writing, “On a night that was meant for celebration and togetherness, we are faced instead with a tragedy that defies understanding. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of those who lost their lives, and our thoughts are with those who were injured.”

Moe. also said they were “immensely thankful” to the first responders and venue staff “for their swift and courageous actions in securing everyone’s safety.” The note continued, “In these moments of confusion and grief, we stand together in solidarity… We believe in the power of music to heal and unite, and it is in this spirit that we will continue to move forward.”

French electronic music duo Air will perform its first local concert in 20 years when the group brings its tour behind the 25th anniversary of its landmark debut album "Moon Safari" to Detroit's Fox Theatre on Oct. 10, promoters announced Tuesday.

Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday via Ticketmaster, and pre-sales start at 10 a.m. Thursday.

The Detroit show is part of the group's 19-date fall North American tour, dubbed the Air Play Moon Safari Tour, which kicks off Sept. 25 in Vancouver and wraps Oct. 30 in Austin, Texas.

"Moon Safari" was released in January 1998 and was hailed for its astral, loungelike aesthetics. A 25th anniversary edition of the album, which includes demos and live tracks, will be released March 15.

Air's last area performance was in April 2004 at Pontiac's now defunct Clutch Cargo's.
