Now in it's 18th year in London's West End, the spectacular, multi-record-breaking Broadway musical ' Wicked ' has just kicked off a new UK and Ireland tour for 2024 and 2025 at Edinburgh Playhouse. This touring production is huge! It has all the sets, costumes and talent you would find in London. Nothing has been scrimped on for the tour. There is a full orchestra, massive set pieces, over 350 stunning costumes and the all important Time Dragon clock above the stage. It takes over 100 people to deliver each of these magical tour performances and it shows. It is immaculate!

Wicked tells the untold story of the witches of Oz. Based on the novel 'Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West' by Gregory Maguire, and the beloved characters from L. Frank Baum's ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, Wicked drives a tornado through the familiar story you thought you knew and reveals what really happened between ‘Glinda The Good’ and Elphaba, the 'Wicked Witch of the West’.

Up until now, we've only ever heard one side of the story; but the book for Wicked shrewdly twists the familiar tale and shows us a very satisfying parallel alternative.

With songs by multi-Oscar and Grammy Award winner Stephen Schwartz , the score for Wicked includes some of the finest Musical Theatre numbers of modern times. True, the majority of the big hitters are in Act I, but there isn't a bad song in the entire show. ' No One Mourns the Wicked ' is a powerful opening number, ' The Wizard and I ' delivered perfectly by Laura Pick made my hairs stand on end! Sarah O'Connor's 'Popular' was a delightful, hilarious, musical theatre masterclass. And the showstopping ' Defying Gravity ' remains as epic and impactful as ever.

Laura Pick as Elphaba and Sarah O'Connor as Glinda (the 'Ga' is silent) are a phenomenal, world-class leading duo. I sat front row for this performance and I think I had to physically close my mouth at times. They are simply astounding. Every note, every line, every comic tilt of the head or flick of the wand - just gorgeous!

The large ensemble cast of over 30 on stage for each performance are exquisite. I never think Fiyero has much to do in Wicked, but Carl Man is dashing and bright as the privileged Prince. Daniel Hope 's Boq is heartbreaking, and the character has one of the best, ingenious narrative arcs in the musical. Both actors bring great warmth and emotion to their characters that made me appreciate them all the more.

Similarly, Madame Morrible has never made much impact on me in previous productions of Wicked - she's there, and she does what she does. But Donna Berlin is sensational! She made me sit up and take notice. A superb voice and a memorable performance. She oozes quality every second she is on stage.

The casting for this touring production is first-rate. I could list all of the lead characters and say all of them are excellent. Because they are! With flawless direction from Joe Mantello , the story moves at pace, the cast nail every line and every move, and the magic and spectacle of the piece soars.

Behind the facade of joyous green sparkle and awe inspiring musical numbers, Wicked delivers some powerful messages to the audience. This is a musical that actually has some depth to it - and I adore that side to it.

It is OK to be different (or geen)!

You should fight for what you think is right and always stand up for the underdog.

Popular doesn't always mean happy.

And what we are told or shown, is not always the truth.

I did read Gregory Maguire's novel some years ago, and although impossible to fit every detail into a 2 hour stage musical, the sentiment, the intelligence and heart are all here in Wicked.

Wicked is a stage musical that is spectacular in every way. And this new UK tour production of the well loved tale is sensational. To be so polished, so perfect, so breathtaking at its opening venue is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved. 'Everyone deserves the chance to fly!' and fly this show does.

“Wicked” season is here! In a new Vanity Fair profile, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and the creative team gave readers a peek behind the emerald curtain ahead of the highly anticipated musical film’s release.

96th Annual Academy Awards - Show

As theGrio previously reported , the adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical of the same name promises to tell the “untold” story of “The Wizard of Oz,” based on Gregory Maguire’s novel, “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.” Set before and during the events of the original book and film, Erivo stars as The Wicked Witch of the West (Elphaba), while Grande, plays Glinda The Good Witch.

Speaking to Vanity Fair’s Chris Murphy, Emmy, Grammy and Tony winner Erivo said that she “honestly didn’t believe” she’d be seen for the role, and was one of the last people brought in to audition. But once she got the offer, she said, “I was training like I was a boxer.”

One of the biggest numbers and signature songs in the show, “Defying Gravity,” showcases a flying Elphaba, a moment on set that Grande says she will “never” forget. “She had a harness pulling and pushing and yanking and tugging on every nook and cranny that there is,” the pop star explained. “I’m literally never going to forget you jumping on a chandelier over my head whilst singing.”

Both actresses sang each other’s praises in the profile as well, with Erivo saying, “I just need to say that I don’t think people realize that she’s got the chops,” when speaking about Grande. “I don’t think people realize how brilliant this person’s brain and voice and talent is.” Returning the favor, Grande said, “She’s my favorite female voice. When I was watching you sing at the Oscars, I said, ‘I hope someday I get to sing with her.’”

The film comes from director Jon M. Chu (“In the Heights,” “Crazy Rich Asians”), with Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James and Keala Settle filling out the supporting cast.

“Wicked: Part One” is set to hit theaters this Thanksgiving, with “Wicked: Part Two,” arriving in November 2025.

How to buy Taylor Swift tickets: Eras Tour dates and prices compared

When you buy through our links, Business Insider may earn an affiliate commission. Learn more

Taylor Swift's reign continues as she ramps up for the next leg of The Eras Tour. The singer-songwriter will kick off the European portion of her world tour in Paris in May, which will continue throughout the summer. From there, she'll return to North America to tour Canada and a few remaining US cities in the fall. If you're hoping to attend, we've compiled all of the details of The Eras Tour, including how to get Taylor Swift tour tickets.

Swift's Eras Tour has taken the world by storm since March 2023. The three-plus-hour tour features hits from each of Swift's album eras, from "Lover" to her recent Grammy Award-winning "Midnights." Each show also features surprise songs and occasional guests, so fans never quite know what they're in for. Swift will release her latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department," in April, but it's unknown if any of those songs will make their way to the tour setlist.

  • See also: Adele tickets | Olivia Rodrigo tickets | Bad Bunny tickets | Bruce Springsteen tickets  | Drake tickets | Stevie Nicks tickets

Getting tickets has become its own battle and many fans have waited hours in the Ticketmaster queue to hopefully snag some seats, if they could get a presale ticket code in the first place. While Swift continues to extend the tour, including new US dates, tickets remain hard to come by.

Below, we've put together a guide on everything to know about The Eras Tour, including the tour schedule, ticket purchasing details, resale ticket prices, and the concert film streaming options . You can also peruse resale vendors like StubHub and Vivid Seats at your leisure.

Taylor Swift international tour dates

The Eras Tour international dates resume on May 9 in Paris. The European tour will run until August 20 in London. UK prices are listed in pounds, and start times vary from city to city. US dates start in October and can be found under the following table.

Taylor Swift North American tour dates

The Eras tour will return to the US on October 18 in Miami. In addition to the Miami shows, Swift will perform multiple dates in New Orleans and Indianapolis. On November 14, Swift will head to Canada for several shows in Toronto and Vancouver. All North American shows start at 7 p.m. local time.

How to buy tickets for Taylor Swift's 2024 tour

Original standard tickets for Taylor Swift's 2024 sold out long ago for both international and domestic dates. All US tickets and many international tickets were sold through Ticketmaster , although select international locations used different services.

Tickets for most dates are available on resale websites like StubHub and Vivid Seats . These are generally higher-priced than the originals, which are no longer available. Keep in mind that some countries have rules regarding reselling tickets.

How much are Taylor Swift tickets?

Ticket prices vary by date and location. International resale tickets tend to be a bit cheaper than US resale tickets. It's worth noting that some of the cheapest tickets have restricted views.

StubHub's cheapest European tickets range from $392 (Madrid, Spain, on May 29) to £978 (London, United Kingdom, on June 22). The latter is around $1,248 in USD. The lowest prices for most shows are around $450 to $1,000. On Vivid Seats , the cheapest tickets for these dates go for $549 and $683, respectively.

When it comes to North American shows, the cheapest StubHub tickets range from $1,045 (Vancouver, Canada, on December 8) to $2,081 (Miami, Florida, on October 19). Most of the cheapest tickets are priced between $1,200 and $1,800. On Vivid Seats, the cheapest Taylor Swift tickets on these dates start at $1,133 and $2,212, respectively. The two resale vendors generally have similarly priced offerings, but this varies from show to show.

Who is opening for Taylor Swift's tour?

Taylor Swift has a variety of opening acts, from up-and-coming singers to established groups. Opening acts vary by date. For the European leg of the tour, Paramore will open for Swift. In the US and Canada, Gracie Abrams will be the opening act.

Will Taylor Swift add more dates to the Eras Tour?

Taylor Swift already added additional stops to her tour due to popular demand, including her US tour dates this fall. She also added additional dates to some of her European city stops, including bonus performances in France and the United Kingdom, among other locations. It's unknown whether Swift will end up adding even more tour dates, but by the end of the upcoming US leg she will have been touring for almost two years, so fans shouldn't be surprised if she takes a break.
