Hi - is there a transfer /shuttle from the hotels to union station for the monuments by moonlight tour that departs?
I don't believe so. It did not for us but we were not staying in the city. We took Metra there then a uber back go early there is a line to board the busses and we stood in line for about a half HR before we were let on a bus. Have fun

I heard about the Monuments by Moonlight Tour through the JW Marriott hotel. When I checked in, they recommended taking the trip to see the highlights of D.C in just a couple of hours. Since I was only staying for a few nights, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out. Given that I took this tour in the winter, it was inevitable that the trolley would be freezing cold. There are curtains inside that you can use to cover the windows, but you feel awkward having to ask other people near you if it's okay to bring them down since they obscure your view and picture-taking. But, we didn't resort to that until the very end of the tour. I suggest you bundle up nicely, with a puffy coat, hat and all to be safe. However, the cold didn't disturb my enjoyment of this trip, mostly thanks to our amazing tour guide. I'll never forget MJ and his clever wit guiding us through D.C, presenting many locations that held American history. I loved how organized he was with our group as well. It's stressed that we are allowed to get off at three stops, but we should never steal someone else's seat, and if we want to depart from the trip for any reason, then we must let him know. That's great to lessen any chaos that could come from the tour, and I appreciated how he repeated those rules throughout the evening. I'd recommend this to anyone who has a brief stay in D.C and wants to see the best of the area as quickly as possible. But, it can easily be a joy for anyone else to join on this excursion, as long as they are ready to take lots of pictures and listen in on some fun facts from a charming guide. You may not have MJ when it's your turn to visit, but I'm confident the other guides are just as good.

Wow, thank you for that wonderful review! We're glad to know we made it worthwhile. Our guides work hard to make their presentations interesting, and we love sharing these comments with them. We hope to see you again!
Wouldn't waste your money or time. Waited for over an hour and all that came by was two training trolley's. Had to Uber and walk because of their schedule not being anywhere close to accurate.

It sounds like you experienced some longer than usual wait times. Of course, we have our high traffic weekends, but we do everything we can to accommodate by inserting the maximum number of vehicles permitted, keeping communication open with our dispatchers, and cutting off ticket sales when we reach our anticipated capacity. We stand behind our efforts with a Satisfaction Guarantee. You can read about it by selecting, "100% Satisfaction Guarantee" on our website, trolley tours dot com. We wanted to see the monuments at night and this tour did not disappoint! $65 for 3+ hours was so worth the informative ride around our nations capital. We arrived 30 min early and got in line. A very nice gentleman scanned our tickets and another lady guided us to our bus. They have the most outgoing and professional staff! Mike was our tour guide and he definitely earned his 2022 tour guide of the year title! He was super friendly, welcoming, interactive and shared so many interesting stories, history and anecdotes. He took us all over. Stopped for a while to visit the Lincoln Memorial, MLK, Vietnam wall and Iwo jima memorial. We saw the White House, Capital building, Congress, FBI building...the list goes on. He even took us through Arlington National Cemetery (stopping for a moment if silence) on our way to Iwo Jima. Our nations capital is beautiful during the day but at night, once the sun goes down - it's absolutely stunning! This is the best way to see it all! From the comfort of an open air bus. We also received 50% off the Arlington National Cemetery tram just by taking this tour. Great deal!

Loved it! Did a tour on my last day in DC before my flight. Next time I'm in DC I'll do this tour again and get off more to explore the sights!

We're so happy to hear that you had such a great time! Thank you for sharing your experience here. Come and visit us again!
This is a must do when you come visit DC. There's 15 stops on this tour and you can hop on and hop off in every stop. Tour starts at 9 I believe and ends at 4 so it's better to start early so you can see the sites.
Arlington National Cemetery
Wish I could even say we had the experience of the trolley to review but we couldn't even get on a trolley! We purchased tickets day before arriving, (3/26/24) had limited time so thought the trolley would be the best way to see all the sights for a family of four (2 kids). We arrived via metro at Union station at 10, when tours say they started, and an hour before our timed ticket for Air and Space, the one thing kids most wanted to do. Saw a line already, ok, empty trolley sitting there. Another smaller trolley arrives and was full, no one getting off. It leaves and 10 minutes pass. The two employees kept saying another one's coming...we waited over 20 minutes before deciding to start walking to make our timed entry. This was the theme for the whole day. Wait, wait, wait...full trolleys and no one getting off. We walked to the next stop hoping to get on and found others waiting saying same problem, no one getting off. We waited at stop 10 for 30 minutes while 4 trolley came and went with no room. Called customer service to tell them about what was happening and that it was like this since 10am. We paid for Arlington tram tour as well so had to Uber there to make it before last tram. No Old Town trolleys in sight the whole way there to Arlington. Poor planning from an "experienced" tour company, its spring break and cherry blossom season, and mid week, why don't you have more vehicles in service???? Saw Big Bus everywhere, should have done that one!! we wasted so much $$ and time.

Please accept our apologies for the delays and overloads you experienced. Our team makes every effort to accommodate the crowds by monitoring ticket sales, dispatching the maximum number of trolleys on high volume days, and maintaining constant communication with our dispatchers to ensure all is being done to assist our guests. Enjoyed the D.C hop on hop off bus...a lot of rain during our trip and they even had plastic ponchos to give to customers. We experienced 3 different drivers and they are safe, knowledgeable, and funny. I think these tours are a must -- THE BEST WAY to see all D.C. memorials and monuments

I had an amazing time tonight with Smiley! What a wealth of knowledge and national treasure. I would take this over and over again.

Old Town Trolley Tours Washington D.C. was such a great experience to see the D.C. area at night. It's rare to find a live narrated tour guide these days with every company going digital but this one was special in that aspect. Our group did the Monuments By Moonlight Tour and our Tour Guide Mike was exceptional. He was very kind and extremely knowledgeable about the history and landmarks of Washington D.C. We were able to stop and get ample time at some monuments for pictures and just to simply soak it all in. What was even better was coming back into the nice warm heated trolley after feeling that frigid wind and cold weather. Throughout my time in D.C. I kept hearing "You haven't seen D.C. until you see it at night" and I believe Old Town Trolley Tours is a great way to do so!
