In regions like Asia, Australia, Africa and Latin America, and on some North America and New Zealand trips, our group sizes are considerably smaller – as low as 12 or up to 30 travellers max.

What’s included?

All essential trip elements have been catered to ensure a great time, with great people in great places. But you mean more specifically right?

Your accommodation, essential trip transport, and a good handful of meals are included in the cost of your Contiki trip (on most trips we offer breakfast every day, plus a hand-picked selection of authentic and tasty meals).

To fill your days and Insta feeds we have Included Experiences, which are basically the sights and activities we think you just can’t afford to miss. Of course you also get our expert and highly trained team of Contiki staff to support throughout.

A day by day breakdown of inclusions and Free Time Add-Ons are available on the trip specific pages.

We always try to accommodate special requests such as birthdays, proposals etc. Please chat to our team and we can explore how we may support the request.

What’s not included?

Contiki social travel trips have a large degree of flexibility built into them to enable you to truly own your experience. This means that some trip elements are not included in the initial cost and may require additional budgeting.

Flights to and from your starting and ending points are not included in the cost of your trip. These can be added on during the booking process either online or via our contact center or booked independently by you.

Each trip contains the right amount of free time for you to explore or indulge your travel desires. We offer Free Time Add-Ons, which are additional experiences that are not included in the overall price. These add ons are highlighted on the specific trip page. Your Trip Manager will highlight these to you and organise their booking on trip. Exceptions may apply where pre booking is required but this will be made known to you in your pre departure information.

A number of meal times are left open for you to explore a region and its foodie offerings in greater detail, so budgeting for your taste in non-catered meals is important.

Travel insurance and visas are also not included in the cost of your trip, and should be booked separately.

Royal and Recent History of Phnom Penh

Home to about 1.5 million people, Phnom Penh has been Cambodia’s capital since the French colonization of the country.

Spend the morning exploring some key attractions in this charming city which boasts a rich blend of Khmer and colonial architecture. Explore the hillside Wat Phnom with its big trees and mischievous monkeys and hear about the legend of Lady Penh, the founder of the city; the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, two of the most striking buildings in the capital and considered as some of the finest examples of Khmer architecture. At the Silver Pagoda, notice the small green crystal Buddha (the “Emerald Buddha”) and a life-sized solid-gold Buddha, which weighs 90kg (198lb) and is adorned with 2086 diamonds; and the National Museum, designed in Khmer style by a French archaeologist and painter in 1917. The museum’s collection includes over 14,000 items, making it one of the world’s largest collections of Khmer art, including sculptural, ceramics, bronzes, and ethnographic objects.

After lunch, meet your guide again, for a tour into the dark times of Phnom Penh. Learn about the turbulent Khmer Rouge years with visits to Tuol Sleng, a high school turned interrogation prison known as S-21 during the Khmer Rouge era and now a genocide museum; and Cheung Ek, a large memorial commemorating the 17,000 victims who died there under the reign of Khmer Rouge leader, Pol Pot.

Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. We suggest a walk along the Tonle River Promenade and a dinner in one of the many restaurants in the area.

It’s a full day around the Angkor Archeological Park today.

After breakfast, transfer by private car to Ta Prohm – one of Angkor’s jewels. Overgrown with fig trees, giving a haunting yet exotic atmosphere, is the most photographable. From here drive a short distance to Ta Keo, which would have been one of the finest temples in Angkor had it been completed.

Continue to Angkor Thom – an entire walled city, the royal Capital in the 12th century. With a population of 1 million, it was far bigger than any city in Europe at the time. The amazing centerpiece is the Bayon temple crowned with 216 giant, smiling faces of King Jayavarman VII.

Take a lunch break before the exploration of Angkor Wat, claimed to be the largest religious building in the world. The temple, which took 30 years to construct & used the labor of 300,000 workers was built as the earthly representation of the universe with its’ central tower symbolizing Mt Meru – the center of the Universe.

Return to your hotel late afternoon.

Countryside on the Back of the Vespa and Evening Show

This morning, delve into the idyllic Cambodian countryside on this Vespa tour of cultural discovery! Start by visiting APOPO, an NGO that trains southern giant pouched rats to detect landmines. Nicknamed ‘Hero Rats’, these critters are an invaluable asset in the fight to safely remove the explosive legacies of war.

Waving farewell to these valiant rodents, leave the hustle of the city behind and follow tree-lined roads deep into the countryside, stopping at a local market to be introduced to your guide’s favorite vendors.

Venture onwards to a beautiful Buddhist temple to receive a traditional blessing, gaining an intriguing insight into the local belief system and the daily lives of monks.

Hop back on the Vespa and cruise through the lush natural scenery of rice paddies and farmland to enjoy refreshments at a local household and meet their herd of water buffalo.

Interact with the other local families who each have their own specialized trade, from rattan weavers and sugar palm harvesters to noodle makers and traditional medicine vendors. Epitomizing the hardworking ethics of rural life, it’s a heartwarming experience to meet these resourceful communities, and you are sure to return to the city with a deeper appreciation of their challenging livelihoods!

In the evening your driver will pick you up in time for the fascinating and inspiring Phare Circus Show and dinner.

Phare Circus works mainly with disadvantaged young people. They learn circus skills, theatre performance, music, and a range of visual arts. It combines local traditions with new creative and innovative genres.

Daring athleticism is combined with stories that speak powerfully to Cambodia’s not-too-distant history.

Market Snacks and Architecture

You’ll be picked up by your guide early in the morning, to start the day in the Lao lifestyle. The morning market in Luang Prabang, lining a couple of quiet streets near the Royal Palace, starts early and is over by mid-morning. The butcher and other vendors sell goods like rice, fresh vegetables, tofu, steamed fish, frogs, chickens. Your guide will explain how the dishes are made and encourage you to sample some of the authentic snacks.

From here we’ll continue to marvel at Luang Prabang’s beautiful mix of architecture, drawing influences from both the East and the West. Enjoy a lively presentation on preservation projects, followed by a walking tour of some of the town’s architectural highlights.

Wander through small streets and alleys to observe the lifestyle that the local people have maintained. If time permits, we can stop by the local home and meet the owners for a glimpse of daily life in this laid-back town. Back to the hotel for late lunch and remains of the day at leisure.

Life Of Doing

How to Travel to Cambodia and Laos in 2 Weeks

laos cambodia tour

Southeast Asia is one of our favorite places to visit. The rich culture, food, history, and affordable travel are the top reasons to visit the area. If you have only two weeks, plan a trip to Cambodia and Laos!

Why a 2 week trip to Cambodia and Laos?! Cambodia and Laos are next to each other, so it’s easy to travel between the two countries. Two weeks is the perfect amount of time to learn about Cambodia’s history, see beautiful temples at Siem Reap, experience Laos’s laid-back culture, and visit Luang Prabang, the UNESCO World Heritage site.

Our 2-week itinerary to Cambodia and Laos has the following stops: Phnom Penh – Battambang – Siem Reap – Luang Prabang – Vientiane. What is great about this plan is that you can visit either country first depending on your initial departure location. We suggest going to Cambodia first as the environment is more chaotic and hectic versus Laos. This plan starts in Cambodia and includes 2 travel days. Feel free to change around your travel locations and add more days based on your interests.

The itinerary also includes things to see, places to eat, and accommodations for Cambodia and Laos. If you don’t want to travel to two countries, consider staying in Laos or Cambodia for two weeks . Don’t forget to check out these helpful tips for planning a trip to Cambodia .

Although we didn’t get the chance during this trip, we have several places that we want to visit in the future – Tonle Sap and Koh Rang in Cambodia. Check out this guide to Koh Rang for more information. For Laos, we still want to stop by V ang Vieng for river tubing and adventures and the southern part of Laos.

We hope you get some inspiration to travel to Cambodia and Laos. You’ll have a fabulous time between the two countries no matter what.

  • Laos: Laos implemented a new e-visa process for over 120 locations, including those from the U.S. Use this site to apply for an e-visa .

*Update: We’ll continue to monitor this area as an entry for tourists may change due to the current travel situation.

Currency in Cambodia and Laos

Cambodia and Laos use different currencies, so you’ll need to use the ATM or exchange money at a currency exchange store or at the airport. Both countries are cash-centric. Credit cards aren’t as widely accepted except at the larger hotel chains, such as Marriott.

  • Cambodia: Accepts U.S. dollars and Cambodian riels. If you buy something in U.S. dollars, you may receive Cambodian riels for change. Make sure that you have small bills such as $1 and $5 USD for tipping, shopping, and restaurants.  The exchange is 4 riels to $1 USD.
  • Laos : Accepts Laotian kip. Some vendors may accept U.S dollars or Thai baht.

Best Time to Visit Cambodia and Laos

Cambodia is hot all year round. The dry season is from November – April (or to February if closer to the Southern part of Cambodia), while the rainy season is May – October. The rainy season in Battambang is September and October.

Laos has a similar dry and wet season as Cambodia. If you’re thinking about visiting Laos during the rainy season , definitely go for it!

We went during the December time frame and it was a lovely time to visit.

Accommodations in Cambodia and Laos

Each country has various accommodations from hostels, guesthouses, to large hotel chains. We prefer to stay at local Airbnbs or guesthouses when possible. Many of the guesthouses that we stayed at were clean and served a hearty breakfast, which reduced our food expenses. We’ll share where we stayed in the various sections below and also share a splurge option if you’re interested.

Transportation in Cambodia and Laos

  • Plane:  You can easily travel within the country by airplane. However, it can get pricey. We used planes to travel into Cambodia, between Cambodia and Laos, and out of Laos.
  • Bus: Taking the bus is one of the more affordable ways to travel. We used buses in Cambodia and Laos to travel between cities. The buses were great with reserved seatings, air conditioning, and comfy seats. There were several stops along the way for a bathroom/eating break. We went to the local bus station 1-2 hours before to purchase tickets in person. Bus rides were very cheap. Our bus from Phnom Penh to Battambang was $5.50 USD per person for a 6+ hour ride. You can also take mini-vans but it’ll cost a bit more starting at $8 USD for a ride (between Phnom Penh to Kampot).
  • Tuk Tuks: Taking tuk-tuks is a fun way to see the city. Although it may be hot and dusty on the road, it is quite an adventure. Don’t forget to negotiate the price ahead of time if you plan to go for a longer distance (ie: Killing Fields and S21 tour). You may want to bring a face mask so you don’t ingest dust.
  • Cambodia: Grab is available for cars and tuk-tuk. It is our go-to app during our Southeast Asia travels. Download the app for iOS or Android . Another option is the Pass App for tuk-tuk rides which we heard is slightly cheaper than Grab. Download the app for iOS or Android .
  • Laos: LOCA is a new rideshare app. Download the app for iOS or Android .
  • Slow Boat: If you’re headed to Luang Prabang directly, a unique way is to travel is via a slow boat over 3 days.
  • Pre-booked transportation: If you’re not comfortable with any of these options, pre-book your transportation ahead of time.

Cambodia and Laos 2 Weeks Itinerary: Transportation in Cambodia

Need a ride in Cambodia?

Travel Day & Arrival (1 Day)

Depending on your departure location, it may have taken you a whole day to arrive in Cambodia. We’re starting out in Phnom Penh, Cambodia so you’ve landed at the Phnom Penh International Airport.

Head to your accommodations by tuk-tuk, taxi, or pre-booked transportation to freshen up and/or rest. If you’re not jet-lagged, explore the area in the evening.

Phnom Penh, Cambodia (2 days)

Now that you’ve rested for the day. It’s time to explore Phnom Penh. If you enjoy the hustle and bustle of the large city with crowds and traffic, then Phnom Penh is your city. As the capital of Cambodia, the environment is gritty with pollution, unmaintained sidewalks (or no sidewalks) and streets, and an occasional sighting of garbage burning. It took some time to warm up to the city, however, we gained more compassion and understanding after learning about the Khmer Rouge regime and what the people went through just a few decades ago.

Things to Do in Phnom Penh in 2 Days

  • Visit the Silver Pagoda (also known as Wat Preah Keo Morakot) and Royal Palace . It’s one of the highlights of Phnom Penh. You’ll love the beautiful architecture and temples. The king may be staying over at the Royal Palace when you visit. Remember to dress conservatively as you’re entering the spiritual area and respect the local customs.

Reserve a half day tour of the Royal Palace, National Museum, and Wat Phnom .

Cambodia & Laos 2 Weeks Itinerary: Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

We jumped for joy as we started our 2 week trip to Cambodia and Laos!

  • Walk to the main park area to see the Cambodia/Vietnam Friendship Museum , Statue of King Norodom Sihanouk , and the Independence Monument . Join the fun with the locals walking or running laps around the park in the late afternoon/early evening as the weather is cooler.
  • Hire a tuk-tuk or pre-book a tour for the day and learn about Cambodian history. Visit the Killing Fields ( or the “Choeung Fields”) and Toul Sleng Museum (or “Security 21 or S21”), and to listen to the audio tour (included in your admission ticket) in your native language. It’s tragic to hear about the Khmer Rouge’s genocide and victims’ stories. Seeing the Choeung Ek at the Killing Fields with the glass encasing full of skulls is chilling. Although heartbreaking to listen to, it’s an important part of history. These two places are on the outskirts of Phnom Penh center. The Killing Fields is 15km away from the Phnom Penh city center. The roads are a bit dusty. You may want to bring a face mask for the tuk-tuk ride.

Cambodia and Laos 2 Weeks Itinerary: Visit the Toul Sleng Museum in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Battambang, cambodia (1 day).

Battambang is less visited by tourists even though it is the city with the second largest population in Cambodia. The sleepy, small-town is a 6+ hour bus ride from Phnom Penh. From the bus stop, you’ll take a tuk-tuk to the main area for a $2 USD ride.

With only one day in Battambang, we were limited to what we could do. Definitely check out the main area with shops and restaurants with colonial architecture and cool street art. We hope to come back to spend more time at Battambang.

Things to Do in Battambang in 1 Day

It’s time for a few days of temple hopping. Siem Reap is a 3-hour bus ride from Battambang. The first thing that you’ll notice is the scorching hot weather at over 86+℉ / 30+℃. Prepare yourself for an afternoon break or to leave the temples early due to the heat. Don’t forget to hydrate often!

Things to Do in Siem Reap in 4 Days

  • It’s time to go temple hopping at Siem Reap . Hire a tuk-tuk driver and spend 3 days at Siem Reap seeing the various temples. Purchase a 3-day pass for $62 USD). Three days is sufficient to prevent temple fatigue. One helpful trick is to purchase your ticket at sunset (after 5pm) on the day before you start the full day of temples. You’ll have access to go to the temples, specifically Angkor Wat, to view the sunset. The visit won’t count towards one of your ticket days. If you’re interested in a tour, book this day one:

A few streets over is Pub Street where you can visit at least once. If you want to see the nightlife of Siem Reap, visit Pub Street. Although it’s not the authentic Cambodian lifestyle, you can get cheaper foods, drinks, and meet other foreigners.
  • Find a location with a swimming pool . You’ll need to have an afternoon siesta break to cool down from the heat.

Where to Stay in Siem Reap

Find availability and book a room at Le Méridien Angkor .

This is a great post. Can you advise how to fly from Siem Reap to Luang Prabang? Also, if we had to skip Vientiane would we be missing much?

Hi Allan – You can easily fly from Siem Reap to Luang Prabang via an airplane. We took Vietnam Airlines, but there are Bangkok Airlines and Lao Airlines as other options. Skipping Vientiane is fine as you’ll have plenty of activities at Luang Prabang. Enjoy your upcoming travels!

Learn more about Laos

Best time to visit laos.

Laos is a great place to visit at any time of the year as the weather doesn't vary much – it’s always hot and humid! The coolest time to visit is from November to January. This is also the driest time, and the main festival period, so it’s an interesting time to travel through Laos. The wet season runs from June to October. It rains frequently during this time, temperatures average over 85 degrees Fahrenheit and although some roads may be closed due to flooding, it is a great time for river travel. February to May is drier but hot, with temperatures climbing over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Culture and customs

The population of Laos is made up of more than 100 different ethnic groups, with each having their own distinct clothing, language, customs and way of life. The Lao Loum, who reside in the lowlands along the Mekong, make up the largest ethnic group. Smaller ethnic groups include the Hmong and Mien, both highland dwellers, and the Lao Thoeng, who prefer the lower mountains. Many tribes share cultural similarities with tribes from neighbouring countries, so it’s possible to see Chinese , Vietnamese , Khmer and Thai influences within the dress, food and arts of these people.

Generally, Laotians are known for their laidback lifestyle and calm, steady approach to life. With an emphasis on the simple pleasures of family, food and religion, most people from Laos remain closely connected to their family and village for a lifetime. Most Laotians live in villages, rather than the city, where the sense of community is strong and people are connected to their neighbours and friends. Visiting wats (temples) to make offerings and give alms to monks is a common part of daily life for most, with much respect and reverence reserved for monks.

Buddhist holidays and traditional festivals linked to harvest time and holy periods are commonly celebrated throughout the villages of Laos and are timed according to lunar cycles. With different dates each year, it can be hard to predict the exact timing of these local celebrations, but visiting one can provide great insight into the fascinating culture of Laos.

Eating and drinking

Intrepid believes that one of the best ways of experiencing a country is by eating! Whether you're sampling street food, savoring a cheap eat or indulging in a banquet, there are endless options to choose from wherever you are in the world.

Laotian cuisine draws on culinary traditions from its neighbors, so visitors will be able to taste the flavors of China, Thailand and Vietnam in the food of Laos.

Things to try in Laos

This spicy meat salad is considered the national dish of Lao. The delicious combination of minced beef, chicken or pork seasoned with chili, lime and mint, served with vegetables and sticky rice is a firm favorite with locals and travelers.

2. Khao Poon

This popular soup of meat, rice noodles, lime leaves, chili, garlic and fish sauce has a few variations. The version made with coconut milk makes the dish similar to a laksa, while the version without coconut milk is a lighter option.

3. Fresh fruit

The markets of Laos have a cornucopia of delicious fruits on offer, either fresh or whipped up in a juice. Pineapple, orange, watermelon, guava and banana are plentiful but why not try more exotic fruits like lychee, longan, rambutan or jackfruit?

The answer to Laos’ heat and humidity is a bottle of locally brewed Beerlao, best served cold at the end of a long day of exploring.

Geography and environment

Landlocked Laos is located in South-East Asia, bordered by China, Thailand , Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar . The topography of Laos is very mountainous, with much of the land being covered in forest and unsuitable for farming. Due to the mountainous terrain, Laos lacks a developed road network, with most locals living in small villages in the highlands, lowlands and along the Mekong River. Visiting Laos is like going back in time to when highways, traffic jams, mass transit systems and skyscrapers didn't exist. Visitors will be awed by the lush landscapes and stunning scenery, which is unlike anywhere else on earth.

History and government

Early history.

It's thought that Laos has been inhabited by people for thousands of years, although written evidence reveals that societies existed in the 9th century. Early society was based on agriculture and prior to the advent of Buddhism in the 16th century, people largely subscribed to animist beliefs and Shiva-worship, with archaeological evidence of this remaining today.

Like its neighboring countries, Laos was ruled by a series of kingdoms and was subject to invasion from surrounding forces from nearby domains. Europeans first arrived in the area in the 1600s, with the Dutch being the first to arrive. Despite this, the French have had the most European influence in the region. After enduring years of invasion and control from neighboring countries, Laos also had French rule to contend with in the late 1800s, when it became a French colony.

Recent history

Laos was controlled by Japanese forces during World War II, was declared an independent state in 1950 and gained full independence as a constitutional monarchy in 1954. The 1960s proved to be a devastating time for the people of Laos, with their nation gaining the dubious honor of being the most bombed country in the world. The United States bombed Laos extensively in an attempt to eradicate North Vietnamese sanctuaries, and sadly contemporary Laos is still dealing with huge amounts of unexploded ordnance (UXO) that is littered throughout the countryside.

A coalition government was set up in 1962, but in 1975 Laos became a Communist state when the king gave up his throne in favor of a president and prime minister being instated. During the late 1970s, many people of Laos fled to neighboring countries as refugees, as trade embargoes from foreign nations led to widespread poverty and disadvantage. By the 1990s, Laos had become a full member of ASEAN and foreign nations had lifted their trade embargoes, which allowed free enterprise to grow.

Top 10 outdoor experiences in Laos

Taking a riverboat journey down the Mekong is an iconic journey to savor. Sit on deck, catch the breeze and take photos of the surrounding landscapes as villages, people and mountains glide by.

10. Tough trek

Test your fitness against some of Laos’ mountains on a challenging trek. With so much mountainous terrain, there are many different options and places to hike all around Laos – bring your best hiking boots and a sense of adventure.

Apart from being a great place to pick up handmade wares, buy fresh produce and mingle with locals, the many markets of Laos are one of the most interesting places to take photos also.

It's a good idea to check with your local customs officials to ensure that you are able to bring certain items back into your home country. Australia and New Zealand generally have strict quarantine laws.

Things to buy in Laos

1. Textiles

Laotian weavers are responsible for crafting an impressive range of top-quality fabric wonders. Silk and cotton are the most common and with everything from handmade bags, scarves, cushion covers, placemats and linen on offer, it won’t be hard to go over your luggage limit here.

2. Saa paper

Saa paper (also known as Mulberry paper) is made from the leftover bi-products of the silk industry. You’ll be able to find Saa paper notebooks and stationery, cards and even gorgeous hanging stars in some of Laos’ markets and boutiques.

3. Hmong handicrafts

The Hmong people are famous for creating colorful handicrafts, which can be found in most markets around Laos. Hand-embroidered bedspreads, vibrant clothing and cotton dolls make meaningful global gifts for friends back home.

Festivals and events

Bun pi mai (lao new year).

One day just isn’t enough for Laotians to celebrate New Year - they need a whole three days! The festive period is characterized by water fights, street parties, feasts, laughing and smiles, as the past year’s troubles are washed away to welcome a new year of luck and prosperity.

Vientiane Boat Racing Festival

Entrants from all over Laos travel to Vientiane to compete in this big boat racing festival held at the end of Buddhist Lent. Food stalls and sideshows line the streets to entertain the thousands of people who gather on the river to watch the races.

While smaller in scale compared to other Angkorian wonders, it has captivated the hearts of many tourists, earning titles like the "precious gem" and the "jewel of Khmer art."

Midday: The Land Mine Museum. Delve into Cambodia's history and its journey to address the land mine crisis. Learn about the painstaking process of locating and safely diffusing these remnants of past conflicts. Following this enlightening visit, venture to a nearby village to savor palm candies and rice wine, offering a taste of local flavors.

Your journey continues southward to the sprawling Tonle Sap Lake, Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake. Here, you'll embark on a boat voyage to Kampong Phluk, translating to the "Harbor of the Tusks" due to its historical involvement in the elephant trade many centuries ago. Along the way, witness the enchanting mangrove forests that flourish nearby.

Evening: Sunset Cocktail on the Lake. As the day draws to a close, relish a tranquil lakeside moment with a refreshing cocktail while basking in the splendor of a lakeside sunset. Afterward, return to your hotel for a leisurely evening.

Exploring Authentic Prek Toal and Its Nearby Bird Sanctuary: Delve into an authentic Cambodian experience with a day trip to Prek Toal Floating Village, a less touristy gem that offers a captivating glimpse of life on the lake. As you traverse the village, marvel at the unique sight of shops, houses, and even a church, all ingeniously constructed atop rafts.

Journey to the Bird Sanctuary: Your adventure continues as you head to the renowned Bird Sanctuary, Southeast Asia's premier breeding site for threatened water birds. Here, you'll find tranquility within a rustic wooden birding shelter, ideal for observing the graceful birds in their natural habitat.

laos cambodia tour

It was a whirlwind across a number of cities, but a very comprehensive experience across the many sides and cultures of China. Most days had sufficient activities, but weren’t overwhelming, which was great.Across cities, we had excellent tour guides, like Kitty (Beijing), Jenny (Xian), William (Guilin/Yangshuo), Kris (Shanghai), and Tony (Yellow Mountains.)

laos cambodia tour

From the time we landed in Beijing until we left, we were well taken care of. My wife and I had Lily Liu as our guide and she was amazing. From arranging visits to all the different sights, to teaching us the history, it was fantastic.

The tour was excellent. Selinda was very knowledgeable about all the aspects of our tour. Selinda was very interesting and knew so much Chinese history

We made a private tour through South China in January 2024. Altogether Chengdu was the highlight. We had an incredible day at Emeishan. In Chengdu our guidewas Helen. She was the diamond of all. Speaking fluently English, full of interesting stories, laughing and talking all the time. We missed her the rest of our tour. We highly recommend to go to Chengdu for 3 days when visiting China, especially with Helen.

Other highlights are too many to mention but here are a few Ken taking us to the Terracotta Warriors and our food tour in Xian was amazing,

Our day volunteering at the Panda Base was truly unforgettable. Helen, our guide, provided us with invaluable insights about Chengdu and the pandas, enriching our tour with her knowledge and expertise. We're grateful to Helen for accompanying us throughout the day and showcasing the highlights of China.

We had a booking with China Highlights through Silvia Ye who guarenteed a perfect organisation. In Chengdu our guide was Helen. She was the diamond of all. Speaking fluently English, full of interesting stories, laughing and talking all the time. We missed her the rest of our tour. We highly recommend to go to Chengdu for 3 days when visiting China, especially with Helen.

We traveled to China during the Chinese new year and we had Kris as our guide and he is simply knowledgeable, helpful and great.

We visited Guilin for 2 days and stayed in the Guilin Waterfall hotel. Guilin was absolutely beautiful! Our guide, William, was very knowledgeable and kind! He taught us so much about Guilin and the surrounding area! We really enjoyed trying the specialty rice noodles of Guilin. Our highlight was the Li river cruise.

Amazing tour and the guide Mr. 贺霄 was very accommodating with our needs and request as we have bought our 2 years old with us. Well explained for all the place we visited. Any additional cost were informed well ahead and didn't felt any pressure if we opt not to go for additional detour. The trip was relaxing/ laid back/no rushing with zero shopping!

The tour is great, it is very busy and you get to see a lot of SE Asia within the 31 days! The tour guides are very helpful and approachable and were an asset to the trip. I would note that this tour is more city based than island/beaches, so if sightseeing is what you are looking for this trip is definitely for you!

Indochina Heritage Tour to Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia Tour

Indochina Heritage Tour to Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia

DNQ as a tour operator were fantastic. They were always available and nothing was too much trouble. Very responsive which made customer experience with them memorable. The transport and accommodation in Laos and Cambodia were good. Accommodation in Hanoi was wanting. Halong Bay overnight cruise compensated for the poor hotel in Hanoi. Transportation was commendable. All in all, great itinerary. I was never sitting down twiddling fingers waiting for a connecting flight or having excessive downtime. I would recommend DNQ over and over again

Circle Indochine 16 Days - Thailand /Vietnam/Cambodia and Laos Tour

Circle Indochine 16 Days - Thailand /Vietnam/Cambodia and Laos

16 days in 4 countries and solo traveler is the craziest thing that I've done in my life. But worth it. I love every activity they plan adn the experiences in each country were so superb that I never want them to end! Dat really helped me feel at home all 16 days. The guides were knowledgeable but I felt grateful for the support of Minh - the guide on the Ha Long cruise when I struggled with kayaking. This trip helped me a lot and knew more friends. Thank you for everything and highly recommend you to everyone I know.

Treasures of Indochina 15 Days - Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos Tour

Treasures of Indochina 15 Days - Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos

Lifetime Indochina Holiday to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia Tour

Lifetime Indochina Holiday to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia

In general this was an incredible trip with wonderful opportunities to see this area of the world relatively stress and hassle free. Transportation to and from the airports were for the most part done efficiently and conveniently. The majority of the guides and drivers were awesome save and except the one guide to the Mekong Delta day trip (which I found to be a waste of an entire day of traveling in a cramped bus to see very little and cajoled into paying a tip.) The accommodations for the most part were basic, sometimes remote from the main area, and sometimes run down with faulty air con. Check the hotels that are being organized and request changes in advance if you are not satisfied. I have to say that Ms. Tam and the tour company were excellent at making accommodations and responded immediately when there was a concern. I am grateful for their service! Cooking classes are highly recommended and a tour of the Hanoi on the back of a motorbike is the best! Halong Bay was wonderful and could have been a two day trip! Overall this trip was wonderful and I have fond memories of it!

The Best of Indochina Tour

The Best of Indochina

Unfortunately due to covid19 we had one or two issues, with cancellations of tours and flights, but this was not a problem caused by the company. The tours organised by the company were very good and the guides excellent and apart from when in ho chi min city we were the only ones on the tours which was great. All our airport transfers worked very well. We had six hotels, one in Laos was excellent, four others were good and one in Hanoi was substandard. The tour was an excellent way of seeing 3 countries. We added an extra day in Laos and was very pleased we did as we organised a fabulous jungle trek to an amazing waterfall. Could have easily stayed longer. Due to reduced numbers of tourists we had a unique tour of ankor watt with a super guide. Not to be missed. Our two top trips in Vietnam was the chi chi tunnel tour which was very interesting and then a cycle trip to the vegetable farm in hoi an which was perfect. Hoi an is lovely. I would definitely suggest flying between destinations. Overall a very good tour

Spectacular Laos Vietnam Cambodia Travel Package Combination Tour of World Heritages

My husband and I had just returned from an amazing Indochina trip. It was a last minute decision and we had no idea what the place was like before! After reading through their reviews, we booked with Vietlong tour without hesitation@ It was a brilliant time and we visited many nice places of 3 countries with mixed culture and customs, especially we were welcomed by lovely local people at all places we visited. . The tour is highly recommended if you want a culture holiday, combining relaxation and let Vietlong team planning for you! Definitely value for money! Highlights: We will have nice experience discovering Indochina tours with many nice sceneries, lovely people and interesting histories.

Best of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos 14 Days 13 nights Tour

Best of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos 14 Days 13 nights

I went on the Best of Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos 14 Days 13 nights tour. Ha Long Bay was beautiful although it was overcast when I was there so the real beauty didn't shine through. I went in December to somewhat avoid the humidity so it was cool on the upper deck of the boat. You will need a hoodie or something with long sleeves. To me the Hanoi City Tour was not worth the time or money. I loved learning about the history of Laos although it was really quite sad. I would have preferred to be in a group but I was fortunate enough in a way that I ended up on a private tour because no one else had booked the tour in Laos when I went and so I was able to tailor the tour to suit me. I was able to get to Kuangsi Waterfall early and take uninterrupted photos and avoid the crowds. Remember to exchange AUD to USD before you arrive in Laos as they do not exchange AUD to USD whilst in Laos. So I wasn't able to help the local community and buy their products. It is not worth exchanging to Laos Kip because it's apparently not worth anything when you leave. I had to use my credit card for my meals; it worked out to be cheap. There is a Joma Bakery on the corner, 2 mins walk from the hotel- My Lao Home. Buffett breakfast was a few feet away from the hotel- as you step out of the hotel, go left and its on the right side of the street. Angkor Wat didn't disappoint. It's magnificent. We were fortunate enough to have a brilliant Tour Guide Serey Youk Kim. He engaged with us and took cheesey group photos of us which helped the group form a bond which the other Tour Guides weren't able to do. Unfortunately this tour does not include a visit to any of the Cambodian museums. In hindsight I would have liked to have visited a museum about the horrific history of the Khmer Rouge. The Cambodian hotel is a bit far from everything; I've given this feedback to Asia Focus. Whereas the other hotels in this tour package are well positioned with everything nearby. I would suggest you request Asia Focus to give Tonle Sap Lake half day tour a miss. It is not worth it at all. The Cu Chi Tunnels tour is worth it. Just remember to apply an insect repellent though! It was so interesting to learn about the ingenuity of everything about the tunnel concept. The bus ride back to the hotel was 2.5hrs due to peak hour traffic (FML!). Asia Focus should really organise a hotel between this and the Sai Gon - My Tho - Ben Tre tour rather than a hotel in the heart of the city as both tours are 2 hr bus rides (one way) and I would have preferred my time better spent. The Ho Chi Minh War Remnants Museum is a must see! I can't fathom how other countries could do this to a nation. I felt like crying looking at the photos and reading the devastating stories behind the exhibits at the museum. You could give the Sai Gon - My Tho - Ben Tre tour a miss. I made the most of it because I paid for it. Although it was an interesting "insight into daily life in the Mekong Delta". Tip: have enough USD for Visa's at Laos $USD30 for Australians and USD$50 in Cambodia for Australians. I got sick in the first 2 cities. To avoid getting sick in the next 2 cities I started brushing my teeth using the bottles of water provided in the hotels and I stopped eating anything raw as well. Which helped as I didn't get sick after that.

This was my first time ever travelling without family and it was amazing! One of the best months of my life. Our CEO Tong was brilliant and full of knowledge about where we were going and what we would be doing. He made sure to have enough time for anyone and helped in anyway he could to make things run smoothly for everyone on tour including myself. If you go on this tour, make sure you ask for Tong or (Phanet Tep) as your CEO!
the best experience of my life. recommend this tour to anyone and everyone!!
The tour is so great that we will travel again after the border restrictions are removed. It was a lovely time for our family of 4 when all services were magnificent in all countries such as guide, accommodation, hotels, food and boat cruises.... WE will recommend DNQ travel to any holidaymakers
